In july 2016, honda sent me an initial letter advising me of an airbag recall in my vehicle. According to the letter and nhtsa's website, the remedy would be available no later than fall 2016. To date, there is still no remedy available and i have not received an additional letter from honda.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 honda civic hybrid. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v346000 (air bags); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2008 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag indicator illuminated although the passenger seat was not occupied. The vehicle was taken to vacaville honda (751 orange dr, vacaville, ca 95687) on three different occasions. The dealer stated that they repaired the warning indicator; however, it was still illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 139,000.

After driving my honda civic hybrid just over 5 years and with about 50k miles on it, my airbag srs light illuminated.when i took it into the honda dealership, they told me that it showed error code 33-10 and that the left side curtain airbag first inflator had gone bad and that both it and the left side curtain airbag would have to be replaced.the total cost was $1468.i consider seat belts and air bags to be critical items in my car and have a "zero defect" expectation for them.i had bought a honda for two reasons: safety and reliability.for it to have this kind of failure with relatively low mileage and age concerns me greatly.it also concerns me that honda would not stand behind their product on a safety issue such as this.$1468 is outrageous.it appears that i am not the first honda owner to have this kind of problem.how many more will honda have on a safety item like an airbag before they issue a recall?

Good morning,i am requesting that the nhtsa investigate an issue with the airbag inflator in our 2008 honda civic hybrid. The srs light was on and we subsequently took the car to our mechanic. He informed us that when he ran the diagnostic, code "33-10" came up, stating there is an open or increased resistance in the left side curtain airbag. My mechanic suggested we go to honda for more information.during our visit to honda, they confirmed the issue and informed us that the repair would cost~$1,600 to fix. (attached is a copy of the information from honda)we then went back to our mechanic, who suggested that we contact the nhtsa about this issue. When calling the service line, we were informed that we should file a vehicle safety complaint.we are of course very concerned, especially with the number of issues with honda and the takata inflators, that perhaps our car may be affected as well. Considering the number of vehicles that are impacted, we are concerned about our safety.we are hopeful that nhtsa will be able to support us in investigating this matter.thank you.

Takata recall:manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner,.remedy parts needed to conduct passenger frontal airbag inflator recalls were suppose to become available in late summer/fall of 2016.

Takata recall - my car has been recalled and i have not been contacted by honda.

The contact owned a 2008 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that his mother-in-law was involved in a front end collision after losing control of the vehicle on the freeway. The contact stated that all the air bags deployed except the driver side air bag. The vehicle was towed to a collision shop, but it had not been determined if the vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. There was one fatality due to the crash. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not provided.

Srs lite on, computer code correction from honda dealer:32-10---passenger side inflater33-10--left side curtain airbag.honda dealer saying no warranty, cost $1300 to fix.our car is in a very good condition, is it the defective airbag?who else got this problem.

I'm concerned with the safety of my family when driving this vehicle due to the poor performance as detailed below. The ima battery drains so frequently and so suddenly(gets worse in the summer) that we've been very close to be involved in a few accidents. When stopped and waiting at an intersection for the green light, the car is either idled or in "auto stop" mode. Once the light turns green and i let go off the break, the car fails to accelerate fast enough to the point that i don't make it across the intersection in time, even though i'm the first car closest to the intersection, thus causing the cars behind me to run the red light.i have also had very close calls when merging and entering the freeway at the speed of traffic since the car fails to accelerate.another dangerous situation is when driving on the freeway at a steady speed of 65 mph on flat conditions and coming to an uphill, the car doesn't maintain the same speed. So i need to accelerate more. The rpm reaches 4000, the car is now barely making 45-50 mph and the traffic behind me is force to slow down or suddenly change lanes in order to avoid hitting me from behind.

I have owned this car since april 2008 - i don't drive a lot - in 4 years and 3 months i have less than 40,000 miles on the car.i am the original owner - i purchased it new.i noticed a few months back that the hybrid batteries did not appear to be acting right and when i mentioned it during my 30,000 service they said that it was testing ok and there were no problems with it.over the past few months it has steadily gotten worse - to the point where the hybrid batteries would not hold a charge.when i brought it in to the dealership they stated that while they could see that the battery was dead it wasn't giving them the "error message" or "error code" that it was supposed to so that they could replace the battery. They had to keep it and drive it around town the entire day and perform tests on it to make the car finally give them the error code necessary to indicate that the hybrid battery was not working so it could be replaced.while these batteries are under warranty and they are replacing them - i don't feel that 4 year lifespan for this type of equipment is adequate - particularly given that i don't drive the car a lot.additionally this is a quite costly part - $4,000 if it was not under warranty.i am concerned that the error message was not displaying despite the months of issues with it - and the fact that the equipment only has a shelf life of 4 years in my location due to the climate.this was not disclosed during my purchase and had it been i would never have purchased a hybrid vehicle.this with the fuel tank defect has me seriously questioning this car maker's quality and durability of their vehicles.

The contact owns a 2008 honda civic hybrid. While driving at 55 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The integrated motor assist battery depleted from full to only two bars in a matter of seconds. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle completely recharged in approximately two minutes. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 126,000.

Purchased vehicle new in march of 2008.in october of 2010 an ima battery update was required by manufacturer.since the update i have taken the vehicle back to the dealer on a monthly basis for almost a year with the following problems, they of course can not get the vehicle to do everything that it does to me and the dealer always tells me it is operating within manufacturers standards.i have given up taking it in every month and now just take it in for its routine maintenance, i give them a printout of my concerns and the tech attaches it to the workorder.a)low fuel mileage, averages 25 to 28 mpg.before ima update, was averaging 35 to 45 mpg.b)slow acceleration from stops, this is very dangerous because we never know if the vehicle is going to move or not.we must leave ourselves alot of space when trying to merge with traffic because ofthis.c)idles rough, off & on, while stopped or parked, this is using up gas because the ima battery does notcome on as much as it used to.d)assist is not coming on as much as it used to, if at all.e)ima battery reading goes from 1-2 bars upto 8 or so in minutes and then back down to 1-2 bars within a minute or less.usually reads about 1-2 bars most of time.ima is charging itself on flat ground, up hills, down hills and when braking.i would trade the vehicle in for another, but am afraid that some other sucker would end up with something that is not operating correctly.i did purchase the extended warranty on this vehicle.

The car is a hybrid, in which heavily relies on a battery. However, the battery unit is not so great and dies every few years. If one day the battery dies when i'm driving, it can be extremely hard to steer as it also powers the steering wheel. This can cause a incident in the road or at an intersection. Moreover it is too expensive to be buying a new battery every few years, so people remove the error code and sell the car, which causes this to become an never ending chain.

Vehicle moving in traffic on freeway, all power lost not able to move and involved in accident. Chp report pending. Air bags did not deploy.

Now the thing is that i bought a2008 honda civic hybrid from uk and imported to pakistan . Few days back the ima light in the car came on and a week lateri was rear ended by a carwhich was caused due to battery not responding and loss of accelerationmy dad was seriously injured . Now i know that the accident happened outside usa so you may say that it is out of your jurisdiction but as iam devastated by the accident and you seem to be the only source which can have some say in the issue as honda civic hybrid is very popular car in the usa . God forbid same thing could also happen in usa . So i want you to take these death machines of the road .p.s the phone number is fake but the email address is mine.

On or around 11/20/2011, the control panel on my 2008 honda civic hybrid lost all power while driving on ih-10 w in houston, tx. As a result, i had no information about my speed, fuel level, rpm, etc. I believe this problem was related to my hybrid battery as it had to be replaced shortly thereafter. Currently, i am having trouble with the replacement hybrid battery and honda is refusing to remedy the problem under the warranty.i am writing to the nhtsa implore it to take a closer look at issues with honda's hybrid batteries. It is well known that these batteries are failing at a high rate and there are several class action lawsuits concerning the performance of these batteries. This problem is well known to honda and something needs to be done as it is putting peoples' lives at risk.

Ever since honda "upgraded" my battery system i have lost both power as well as miles per gallon. I must merge onto interstate 680 on my commute to work. There are many large trucks who travel on this interstate and it is scary when i am merging onto the freeway, especially since cal trans just added a meteoring light so i must begin my approach from a stopped position. I thought it was my imagination that i have lost power until i heard about the lawsuit against honda motor corporation. I went into the local honda dealer and asked the service manager if the loss of power is true (as well as the loss of mpgs and he told me yes it is true.) i also asked what honda is going to do about it and he said "nothing". I find this unacceptable.

The contact owns a 2008 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle in the heat, the vehicle would stall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that if the battery over heated it would cause the vehicle to stall and they did not offer any assistance since that was the way the vehicle was design. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 15,000.

After years of poor performance with this hybrid, i discovered that my ima battery was going bad.honda had some recalls where they installed a new software update, but it did nothing. As a honda hybrid owner, i bought a hybrid because i felt like it was the patriotic thing to do and hoped that the benefit would be greater gas mileage.as it turns out, it costs more initially than a regular civic, is no better than a regular civic on gas mileage and the ima replacement runs around $3500. If my battery dies on a dark highway i'm stuck because even though the performance is no better than a regular civic, i have to have that ima for it to run. Really feel scammed and at risk.

First incident occurred around a month after purchased 3 of 2011. Door locks would lock & unlock while driving. Immediately took it back to norm reeves honda in cerritos,ca. I was told that the problem was a bad motor in the passenger door & norm reeves fixed the problem. I was told the drivers side window was defected & norm reeves replaced the window. In 4 of 2011, the car door locks began locking & unlocking while driving but now making a screeching sound. Took the car back to the same norm reeves & they explained it was the motor in the passenger rear door.that was fixed as well. In 6 of 2011, again the door locks started locking & unlocking while driving. I then realized the rear drivers side door was not locking & took it in to norm reeve where they stated the motor was out &they fixed it. I then asked if maybe it could be something electrical & if they could check the electrical wiring on the car, i was told by octavio, service manager at norm reeves, it was not the electrical that it was the door locks. I told the service manager, octavio at this time i felt like the car also gives a push or skip while driving & also smelled a burning smell. Octavio stated the honda was checked by a tech & said nothing was wrong with it. I began taking the honda civic in to norm reeves every month complaining about the car skipping or losing traction. It was frightening driving down hills thinking my car would not stop or lose control. The burning smell would become greater when driving up an incline or the hills of any freeway or city. When the car would be parked at an incline the shifter would lock & become hard to remove from park. During each visit to norma reeves honda, which occurred more than 10 times, i was never told of any recalls or examinations needed in regards to the fuel tank problems & only found out when my honda civic was taken to rock honda of fontana, ca.

The contact owns a 2008 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for service under a manufacturer's recall for the ima battery.the vehicle was repaired however after the repairs, the contact experienced a hesitation in acceleration power when traveling at various speeds or attempting to drive uphill. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 60,000.

When trying to accelerate to access on ramp of freeway, the battery ima hybrid system suddenly was low causing the car to have less acceleration than usual, making merging with faster traffic unsafe.after taking the car in for evaluation, the local honda dealer indicated the hybrid battery system was failing but not to the point that honda of america would replace it.they stated the battery would have to get even lower and a dash light or code would have to appear.the battery/ima/hybrid system is covered up to 92000 miles and cannot be replaced by honda unless the above conditions are met.the system is poorly engineered and the program update allows the battery to function at too low a level to allow adequate acceleration.thank you.

This problem has existed for several months. The problem is that the car suddenly does not have power when starting from a stopped condition.at the same time the indicated drive battery level drops and the dashboard indicates the gas motor is charging the battery. After maybe 30 seconds the reduction of power is less. There seems to be some reduction in power until the drive battery is mostly charged. During this time it appears that the electric assist is not working. Have also observed during this several month period the gas mileage is reduced. The problem is more likely to occur after the car has sat without running for a few hours.the hazard here is that this has occurred when pulling into traffic. When it occurs even pushing the gas pedal to the floor does not have much effect.have been lucky not to have been hit by another car. Took the car to the dealer. The dealer installed new software that has helped the problem, but not eliminated it.will continue to pursue with the dealer.noticed that others seem to be having the same problem, i suspect it is related to a design problem with the hybrid powertrain.am not convinced they will address this dangerous situation.

The battery on my honda civic hybrid has been failing to charge which means my car has no power to move quickly up hills or accelerate when i need to especially as i am merging onto the freeway. There have been numerous dangerous occasions where i may have been the first car at a traffic light, the light will turn green but my car has no power to make it up the hill. There has also been incidents when i am merging onto the freeway but can't get my car to accelerate to an appropriate speedas to not be a danger to the cars already on the freeway. I pray to god that there is not an 18 wheeler approaching behind me in the right lane or the driver would not be able to slow down in time to allow me to merge onto the freeway. There has also been times where my car will not start up immediately in the morning. I have already replaced the starter battery from the honda dealership that cost me over $200.00 after their mandatory adjustment on the ima battery. Honda will not replace my ima battery until the light comes onthe dashboard. My car is not yet 4 years old but the battery is already a danger to my safety. Something needs to be done before somebody gets killed in their honda hybrid for failing to accelerate at the appropriate times.

Honda applied a software patch to extend the ima battery, driving home from the appointment where they updated the software i noticed that at times when i go to accelerate the car will bog down and have no speed.it happens randomly, no set pattern, its a dangerous situation when you are on a 2 lane highway and you pulled out to pass someone and you have no power.or you are making a left hand turn and all of a sudden you lose power.then living in minnesota having these issues when you on ice is down right scary!when you car does decide to go you all sudden lose control because its on ice.honda has updated the software patch again and there is some improvement but still i can't trust it to drive in rush hour situations or have younger drivers drive my car.now when i complain to honda they tell me it drives the way its designed, well if that's the case all honda's need to be taken off the road before someone is seriously hurt.please help us honda drivers who are stuck with this car....

The contact owns a 2008 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that the vehicle failed state inspection because the check engine indicator was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer (dch academy honda, 1101 u.s 9, old bridge, nj, 08857) where the p0a7f code appeared (hybrid battery failed). The vehicle was not repaired due to the price of the part. The contact also had an independent mechanic diagnose the vehicle for a second opinion. Both the failure and part cost were confirmed. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty and advised the contact to keep calling the dealer. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Upon receiving the 'mandatory' ima recall issued by honda, i noticed my honda civic hybrid (2008) acted very differently when it came to accelerating from a stop, particularly on a hill.from a stop it takes several seconds before the car will move forward at a reasonable speed (which it did not do prior to the update).prior to the update, the car would accelerate like a normal car with the ima kicking in to assist the car forward.post update it's like the gas engine wants the ima to engage but the new firmware won't allow it to.the first time i experienced this, i was nearly hit coming out into traffic as my car hesitated.honda has stated there is no way to reverse the update.this decrease in power continues to affect me today (at 60,000 miles and climbing). This update has affected my fuel economy as well (having dropped between 30-33 mpg on a "good" day).while the fuel economy may not be a personal safety issue, it is an environmental safety issue.

I have a 2008 honda civic hybrid.the ima battery was replaced at curry honda in chicopee, ma in 2014.as consumer reports reported in 2014 the ima batteries are very unreliable.my ima battery recently went bad again and now honda is saying it's out of warranty.full disclosure the car has a salvage title.this did not matter in 2014 when it was first replaced.upon further invertigation i see the warranty on the battery is now 11 years or 162.000 miles.my car has under 130,000 miles and is less than 11 years old.also the ima battery is listed under the emission system and should be covered for safety issues.https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2012/sb-10051509-6014.pdf

Honda released an "update" to improve battery performance of the hybrid car. This update degraded the acceleration performance.it is unpredictable to know whether the car will accelerate when necessary.many times the car has not accelerated when necessary and almost caused accidents.i implore you investigate this "update".in my opinion, this update only hides the fact that honda produced an inferior and unsafe product.

I was stopped with my foot on the brake, about to make a left turn.the engine shut off as the hybrids do.i was rear-ended by a chevy suburban going 30 mph.the vehicle's back crumpled accordingly, and that structure did well.however the driver's seat broke so where the back could not be set upright without it falling over after the crash.i wonder if my back would have been as hurt if it would not have broken.

I'm concerned with the safety of my family when driving this vehicle due to the poor performance as detailed below. The ima battery drains so frequently and so suddenly(gets worse in the summer) that we've been very close to be involved in a few accidents. I tracked my honda civic hybrid gas mileage. From 12/09 to 1/10 my average gas mileage was 40.2mpg.took my car into honda dealership for recall work in spring of 2010. They told me that there was a software update on the engine/battery. I asked if there would be any affect on the car's performance. The dealership response was that without the update i would risk voiding the warranty on my car battery/engine. So i had to get the update.from that date i continued to track my gas mileage. From that point onward my gas mileage has averaged 30.9mpg. I called the dealership to ask if they could set the software back to the way it was previously. They said no.they insisted that it was my driving habits that had changed.... When nothing in my life changed so this could not be the case.

My 2008 honda civic hybrid was reprogrammed in 2010 due to problems with the hybrid battery system.it was a mandatory reprogram that has resulted in a significant decrease in the utilization of the integrated motor assist (ima) hybrid system.this decrease in use has had the direct effect of reducing power of the vehicle when starting from a stop, and poses a safety threat when maneuvering at intersections and in traffic.in some instances, the vehicle will accelerate very slowly regardless of the amount of pressure applied to the accelerator.this problem was not present before the hybrid system was reprogrammed by honda, and they will not revert the system to its original state because it will result in costs associated with replacing defective batteries under warranty.

Situation 1: on this day, i was climbing the hills (not steep) to go to an observatory called lick observatory in my hometown. The battery drained completely and the gasoline engine failed to start, stalling my car and then sliding backwards towards the cars behind me. The cars behind me upon witnessing me slide backwards, started to honk at me very loudly. I instantly applied the brakes and somehow managed to slide backwards towards the shoulder. Sometime later, after turning the keys several time, the gasoline engine started. And with much difficulty and at the expense of lot of gas i was able to continue to crawl towards the observatory. This was an extremely dangerous situation and could possibly be fatal because i could have lost control of my car and fallen off the hill. Updated 03/21/12*lj updated ivoq 03/23/12

Gasoline leak where filler tube attaches to fuel tank. Noticed strong gasoline smell in garage, put car on ramp and could see fuel dripping from spot where the filler tube connects to the fuel tank. Dealer says that the entire tank must be replaced and they are back ordered nationwide. So this is happening to others and no recall???? updated 11/10/11pictures received. 03/05/12

The problem started before the date indicated, however we didn't call honda until aug. 29th, 2013.in the mornings for maybe a week we smelled gas fumes in the garage i check under the car and never saw anything leading to a leak. The cars sensors never indicated a problem, so i thought maybe some gas spilled when i removed the gas nozzle at the gas station. A few days later we smelled the gas again, so i went to honda and purchased a new gas cap about $25.00 and changed out the old for the new. The next morning we smelled gas again, so i called honda and they said get your car in here asap. We took the car in and left it, a few hours later we received a call telling us that the fill pile weld was leaking at the tank. The service man also said the gas tanks were on back order, but he would try to find one elsewhere. He had no idea why the weld failed and also why the tanks were on back order. The service man called a few hours later and found a tank it was being shipped express and hopefully will be here this week. The estimated cost is $971.00 for this repair and parts.i did some checking on the internet and found that in 2007 there was a shortage of gas tanks and the same problem was occurring.example one person only had 45k miles when his tank had to be replaced.this problem i believe should be an indicator for a recall, this problem could have been deadly to us and others. There is no warning when it might happen, now i wonder how long i have with the new tank before the weld breaks on it.the expense is really costly, is their anyway i can recoup the $$ spent?

Following refueling, strong odor of gasoline vapors present.overnight, fuel seeped out from where fuel filler meets the tank, saturating the underside of the tank and dripping to form a pool of gasoline on the floor.vehicle owner is very concerned for health and safety, especially risk of fire or explosion when vehicle is parked in an enclosed space such as a home garage.vehicle is just over 125,000 miles.honda dealership refused to inquire on behalf of vehicle owner whether honda corporate will cover repairs as part of any warranty or recall, unless vehicle owner first pays for a diagnostic.honda dealership could not give even a rough estimate of repairs based on vehicle owner's description of the problem.honda dealership did not provide any alternate means for customer to contact honda corporate with this problem without first paying honda dealership for a diagnostic.previous news articles report honda's knowledge and issuance of an extended warranty for this problem going back to 2011, but the warranty was reportedly limited to 10 years and 120,000 miles.vehicle owner was never notified of this via mail or during any service visits to various honda dealerships.it should have been a recall and owners should have been notified.

Fuel tank is leaking. Took into local honda dealer and they said the fuel tank had a crack at the seam where the inlet tube attaches to the tank. They want $951 to replace tank, i said no because i didn't have the money.when i got home i check the internet & found out honda had a issue with this and they had issued an extended warranty for 10 years or 120,000 miles. The problem is they didn't notify us of this problem. Now we have the problem but our car has 148,700 miles. They will not fix the problem at no charge. I don't know how long the problem had been going on because we parked the car outside. When the recent rains arrived we started parking our car in the garage & that's when we smelled a strong odor of fuel in the garage. This occurred during the first 2 weeks of december 2016. The dealer informed us that we shouldn't drive the car & we should not fill the gas tank over 50% full that way we shouldn't lose any gas. Notice the problem when the car was stationary and in an enclosed garage.

I own a 2008 honda civic hybrid. That started smelling like gas and now it is leaking really bad to the point tha i am afraid it will catch fire .

I'm the second owner of this vehicle, having bought it less than three years from its original purchase date. Every time i fill up the gas tank (i don't top-off), and for up to a day later, my garage will wreak of gasoline when the car is parked in the garage. I've parked other cars in garages following fill-ups and this has never occurred. The garage is adequately ventilated.

There is a strong fuel smell coming from my car. I took it to a mechanic in august who said they found cracks in the gas tank which was a known issue, and that i should have it repaired at the dealer, as it would be covered under warranty. When i went to the dealer, i was told that my vin wasn't included, and the repairs would cost $1000. Seeing as how this is a known issue for civic hybrids from 2006-2011 (my car is a 2008) and my description and the diagnosis exactly matches the known, i feel that my car should be included in the extended warranty. I feel unsafe driving my car knowing there are cracks in the tank. Thank you for your time.

On feb 3 i moved car into garage for first time. That evening i smelled an odor of fumes when i returned to the garage. The next day i called my mechanic and took the car in. His invoice afterwards read "check and found fuel tank leaking, drain fuel tank, remove and replace fuel tank, invoice available upon request.

The contact owns a 2008 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that there was a fuel tank leak. An independent mechanic stated that the manufacturer had an extended warranty campaign. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (honda world westminster, 13600 beach blvd, westminster, ca 92683, (714) 890-8900) and they stated the vehicle was excluded from the campaign. The manufacturer also indicated that the vehicle was excluded from the extended warranty campaign and there was no recall.the contact was referred to the dealer to have the vehicle diagnosed and repaired. The vin and failure mileage were not available.the consumer stated on 9/6/17, a local independent mechanic advised that there was an extended warranty 2006-2011 vehicles. This vehicle's vin was not included in the recall.

Since the honda ima reprogram my battery pack no longer holds a charge. It is dead every morning. It will build a charge through my 35mi commute, but the charge holds for only a limited amount of time once i exit the highway and utilize surface streets requiring stop and go travel. After sitting a few hours, the battery pack is dead again. The battery pack has died numerous times upon quick acceleration such as entry to a highway. This is unsafe as the vehicle loses its capability to accelerate without the ima.i have taken the car to the local dealer who kept the car for 2 days to test it. They confirmed that the battery pack does not hold a charge, recharges slowly and drains quickly. However they stated that although it was under the warranty period, they would not and could not replace the battery pack due to the lack of a system code or dummy light illuminating.this lack of action by honda for this common fault in their ima system is unacceptable. When the car was new and the ima system worked, i received the mpg as promised and then some. Since the update and the failure of the battery pack, i no longer receive the epa stated mpg. I basically have a normal civic with hybrid badges. I have been a honda devoted owner since 1997. This will be my last honda.

I have a 2008 honda civic hybrid, purchased new in 2008, and it has approximately 50,500 miles on it.upon parking my car in the garage on the evenings of 7/10/2013 and 7/11/2013, i noticed a very slight gasoline odor.it was very slight, so i thought it was just a fluke or something in the garage.note that i last filled up my gas tank on 6/29/2013, so my tank was not very full by this time.also note that the sacramento area had a decent heat wave from 6/28/2013 through 7/4/2013.on the morning of 7/12/2013, i filled up my tank.upon parking my car in the garage on the evening of 7/12/2013, i again noticed the gasoline odor but it was stronger than previous days.i closed the garage door, and then returned to the garage awhile later and the odor was extremely strong.my car is now parked outside because of the fumes and i am refusing to drive it due to the strong gasoline odor and i fear for my safety and the safety of my kids.i spoke with the dealership today (saturday 7/13/2013) and they said my car is not one of the 80,000 cars that may have this problem.(there is a known problem with a connection at the fuel tank for 2006-2011 models of the civic hybrid).they will not know what the problem is until i bring it in on monday and will evaluate it then.apparently, that dealership does not believe a gasoline leak is not enough of a problem to have me bring it in on a saturday.clearly, the problem with the fuel tanks is broader than the 80,000 cars originally anticipated.a well-maintained car with ~50,500 miles on it should not have a fuel leak.with this fuel leak on top of the already poor performing ima battery that everyone else is having, i am not a happy honda owner.

..i was noticing gas fumes in my garage for about a week...early on called dealership and said i had recently gassed up...i was advised to see if maybe odor would abate on its own perhaps due to spilling upon filling...it did not...there was a crack found where the gas tank connects to the engine and small amount of gas was leaking requiring a replacement of gas tank and repair would be about 1350....i looked on line to find info re recall notice for some 80000 vehicles for same problem....however although my car was in the said group....my vinwas not...also i purchased my car dec 07 leaving five months out of extended warranty if applied.....i had the vehicle repaired the dealership gave me a discount as i have purchased two vehicles from this dealership since 1992 and all have been dealer maintained.......i appreciate this acknowledgment in form of discount.......although technically it appears i fall out of the range of warranty in the spirit of the issue...i wanted this safety flaw to be made aware.i believe i was put in harms way to a degree...if gas had trickled on a manifold or in the garage...the pilot light of my water heater may ignite and an explosion may occur.......so i feel compelled to share experience.additionally i feel a 'fix it' light should have been triggered to appear on my dashboard

I have a 2008 honda civic hybrid.i came home from a short trip to find that my car had a strong smell of gas and the full tank that i had when i left for my trip was no longer full. I drove the car to my local repair shop ' only to be told that the gas tank had ruptured, and that the repairs were very expensive.doing research i discovered that honda had issued an 'extended warranty' for honda civics between 2006 and 2011 for gas tanks because 'small cracks may develop.' according to the online source, honda did not issue a recall because they did not consider it a safety issue. Leaking gas is not a safety issue? however, i never got notice of the warranty issue, my dealership ' who conducted all maintenance on my car for many years never notified me of any issues, and while my car falls within the ten year limit of the warranty i am, according to honda, outside the parameters of the warranty because the mileage limits are 120,000 miles and i have 122,000 miles on my car. 2,000 miles means i get to pay over $1,000 to replace a faulty part on a car that honda knew was an issue, and could, if not repaired result in harm to me or anyone riding in or driving my vehicle.

Several hours after filling up our 2008 honda civic hybrid on a very hot day (104-106) we noticed a strong gas smell coming from the garage where it was parked. Upon investigation we found several small puddles of gas underneath the gas tank, which was wet with gas and dripping on the garage floor.

Reporting potential danger ofgas leak in my honda civic hybrid 2008. First we smelled gasoline in the garage a few weeks ago.but, we were not sure where the smell originated. But, last sundaywe found drops of fuel on the garage floor where honda civic 2008 hybrid was parked. When i inspected underthe car, i noticed a leaknear the fuel tank filler neck/ hose.at that point i was worried even to drive the car.when i took the car to the dealerthey informed that the gas is leaking at the junction of filler neck and the gas tank.the dealer said that there are no recalls or warranty extension on any such problem. But, i noticed on the web that there were reports of similar leaks reported.in my opinion it is a manufacturing defect and honda should take care of it before a fatality due to a potential fire hazard. Now the dealer is charging me $600+ for the tank and $400 for installation. I think honda should replace it for free due to the defect in the gas tank.

The contact owns a 2008 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that fuel fumes were present in and around the vehicle. The dealer stated that both the fuel filler pipe and fuel tank were cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

It begins at about a month ago.the car sometimes couldn't stop after push the break paddle. And it makes very loud "gagaga" noisewhen it fails to break. It happened few times on local street, and once on the highway. I took the car to a dealer yesterday, thehonda dealer found : it is the break master cylinder failure. If it happened on the highway , i would be killedifi was not very careful, i was not very careful, there was no any sign of the failure. Even the honda service techs spent all day couldn't find the problem of the car. I talked to hondausa, thee rep told me it only offers 3 years warranty .i think, this is not warranty problem. If it failed within 3 yeas and people were lost lives already, replace the parts didn't mean anything. It is too late.i strongly suggest that honda must responsible for the failure and fix my my car without cost me a penny. And check all the similar parts on all the cars.

'takata recall' the electric power steering locks up at random time when the car is already in motion; it is very random. I could not get it fixed because if the car is not acting up when getting a diagnostic test, the dealership could not tell me the problem. It first start happening in june 2018. It stopped for months and now is messing again out of no where.

The contact owns a 2008 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that while having the vehicle inspected, the mechanic noticed rust on the quarter panel. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

Tires wore out prematurely due to a faulty suspension on the rear. I have consistently had to replace tires early, costing me at least $2000 extra over the life of the car. I nearly crashed a few weeks ago on relatively new tires that had to be replaced again. Dealer said there was no fix and no problem. I have since learned they were lying to me, but the car is well out of warranty now.

I was driving around 3:00 pm when the car suddenly accelerated on its own.i slammed on the brakes, but the car continued to accelerate.i managed to put it in neutral and continued to apply the brakes. In the three weeks prior to this event, the engine revved as if the accelerator had been floored after i put it in park after driving home from work (it never happened after the drive to work which was in less traffic and took less time).it did not happen every time.my wife was with me on one occasion and experienced it also.

I don't actually know when this started.it has been going on for quite some time.sometimes when i start from a stopped position to enter traffic, even though i have the accelerator floor-boarded, the car barely responds.when i look, the hybrid charge is very low, but i may have just had the car out a short while before and the hybrid battery was fully charged.it seems as if i not only have no acceleration assist from the hybrid battery, but there is almost no power assist at all.i have not had an accident yet but fear it may happen, as i frequently have to pull out onto a very busy two lane road.

After the 2010 software update from honda on the ima motor, the acceleration of the car when the ima battery is in the low meter is dangerous. I cannot get enough speed to get on the freeway or have the necessary avoidance in normal everyday traffic.

The contact owns a 2008 honda civic hybrid.the contact stated that while parked, the rear window exploded without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not available.the approximate failure mileage was 122,000.

The windshield wipers got crossed up while in use which ended up breaking one of the blades. I turned the wipers off > uncrossed the blades > turned the wipers back on > and the wipers would only cycle about half way up the window before returning to the rest position. A week later i turned the wipers on to drive in the rain and the drivers side wiper will not move while the passenger side does. The passenger blade is below the drivers side blade, so the passenger blade hits the non-moving drivers side blade which actually knocked the passenger side blade off the arm.

Wipers on 08 honda civic hybrid go on every time the car ignition is started. After 7-8 swishes, wipers stop in the middle of the windshield. Honda service bulletin 07-071 reported this issue on 9/24/10 and recommends replacing windshield wiper motor cover plate. Other internet searches recommend replacing the entire motorassembly 76505-sna-a02. Dealer repair quote was over $500:$117 for the motor assembly plus labor.only 06-07 models are covered in the service bulletin 07-071, but there are 240 reports of this problem at https://repairpal.com/wipers-wont-park-due-to-windshield-wiper-motor-failure-531?trk_loc=rr# . The same part was recalled in 2003. Honda consumer affairs declined to take action since car was out of warranty, which incidentally only covers the first 3 years of the car. The windshield wiper malfunctions are well documented.why hasn't honda extended the dates in the service bulletin since the problems have clearly persisted well beyond 2007 models?

Three of the four wheels on the car have corrosion around the base of the tire pressure monitor system sensors that allows air to leak from the tire. The worst of the leaks i'm experiencing currently allows a loss of about 7 psi per week and is slowly getting worse over time. A honda regional service rep had suggested that adding air may be allowing moisture into the tire/wheel assembly contributing to the internal corrosion, which doesn't seem to have been a problem on any other car i've ever owned.
