I totalled my car and not one of my air bags came out..on city street in motion i hydroplaned..

Takata recall: my daughter suffered injury as airbag replaced under takata recall blew up on her with intense force causing injury and tearing off her wrist.seat belt also caused injury as they tighten and cut her check area. It was light collision when passing car scrapped her front bumper.my daughter feel airbag impact caused more damage that light collision..airbag cut her wrist and threw her hear back and some dust or power went in her eyes.. With the result she lost control of vehicle and her passenger side ran through the side curb.

Takata hear replacements are defective how do you find out if replacement is defective have only right eye and if injured may not be able to drivenew headlights are a menace some now with 8 lights and one where all green. They are not aimed on road but so strong in car can read some set so they are higher that windows.i slow down to 20mph to be able to see safely either way others do not like that speed in 50mph zone but not safe to drive when lights like an interrogation room blinding you.if you need 8 lights you should not be driving and these beady start white lights are blinding.need to go back to two lights shined on the road not 4-8 in different colors the height of the window aimed at the interior like a trooper light.

The contact owns a 2005 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that the srs warning light illuminated continuously. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 151,787.

I was involved in a head on collision on 1/13/2014. My car was totaled and my airbags did not deploy. This caused extensive injury to myself, in which i was on life support and in a comma for almost two days, hospitalized for a week. The vehicle was so damaged that the towing company expressed their bewilderment that the air bags had not deployed. The insurance company is taking the vehicle to a secure location to be examined and evaluated. I am fortunate to be alive, but am concerned for the safety of others. I own a honda for the safety and reliability, i now question that safety factor.

Takata recall. My airbag lights have been on since i purchased the car about 2 years ago. Was told by used car dealer that they will go off which they haven't.

My air bag light constantly stays on. No codes come up when auto repair shop hooked it up so i can't even get a diagnosis and attempt to repair. The safety hazard aspect worries me immensely but it's my only vehicle so i'm forced to drive it regardless. All available recalls have been performed. My car hesitated to accelerate after i put it in drive or reverse when i'm at a complete stop. The transmission also hesitates to switch gears to accelerate at a normal rate to safely merge onto a road or interstate whether i'm stopped first or turn right in at a low speed and attempt to merge.

The contact owns a 2005 honda civic hybrid. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v370000 (air bags) and 15v320000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

We received a recall letter and immediately called and scheduled and appointment to have the recalled part replaced.we went to our local honda dealer - honda world in westminster, ca.the parts had to be ordered.as of today, saturday april 11 we have not heard anything from the dealer about receiving these parts and being able to make the repairs.i went online to honda and found that this is a very serious recall and the part malfunction has caused some deaths.honda's information online also stated we could get a replacement vehicle if the parts needed to be ordered.we were never offered this.we need this vehicle and cannot go without a car.

Takata recall. Honda did a safety recall in 2015 but in 2017 i got the airbag sign again in civic hybrid and it's not going even mechanic tried to remove it with obd. Other problem is with ima system, it works often sometimes and sign stays at the dashboard. Honda should recall for airbag and ima system and fix it permanently.

I had hit a pole and the airbag on the passenger seat went off and not my air bag as in the drivers seat i had hit my head on the steering wheel but no serious injuries but still i want to sue honda due to the fact my air nah didn't go off when you should have.

The contact owns a 2005 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle crashed into the rear of another vehicle.the contact indicated that during the crash the air bags failed to deploy. The contact suffered multiple contusions to the upper and lower body. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 98,000.

I was seeing down the road and a truck was stopped at a green light i ran into him my airbags did not come out

The contact owns a 2005 honda civic hybrid. While attempting to make a left turn, another vehicle drove through the traffic signal and crashed into the passenger side of the contact's vehicle. The side air bags failed to deploy. The front seat passenger sustained chest bruising. The rear passenger sustained bruises to the head and the contact sustained shoulder, lower back, and neck bruises, which all required medical attention. A police report was filed.the vehicle was not diagnosed.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 210,000.

The vehicle shutters during initial takeoff from a stop. It feels like the car wants to start from second or third gear. I have checked all the fluids and they appear to be at normal and acceptable operating levels. The lack of acceleration and the hesitation from the car make it difficult to merge into traffic. This is truly a safety concern when turning from 2-way stop signs or turning right at a stop light. Oncoming traffic could be coming at excessive speeds and with the slow acceleration and shutter, i fear this vehicle's cvt will fail.

I received a recall update from honda on my 2005 civic hybrid. They performed the update then my hybrid batter died and my car would not function correctly. While driving, my headlights would dim greatly and my instrument panel would should down. My car would also surge forward when the tachometer would race up and down by 500 rpm. I took it to the dealer after they update and they admitted they'd been having this problem with many cars post update. They agreed to fix it.a few days later, the car began to act in the same manner. I took it back to the dealer and they told me that this was not caused by anything they had done this time and that i would need to pay $3000 for the repair. My service advisor told me he totally disagreed and thought the update had caused the issue. He apologized for all of the issues and told me he felt like honda was not doing what they should be doing.

My car is not accelerating properly. Despite the fact that i brought it in to the dealer in about november of 2011, they did not do anything. They claimed it was the way i drove. I've always driven the same way and owned the car for 7 years now. Then, a few months ago, i discovered the reason i lost power was they reprogrammed the car so i lost power! i am sure you are aware of the various lawsuits against honda for reprogramming the hybrids so that everyone lost about 5 mpg and the battery was less powerful, all so they could make the batteries go past warranty and they would not have to pay to replace them. My car battery has also started to charge when i accelerate, which it is not suppose to do. This is making it difficult to get on the highway. Around here, there are entrances that are stop signs and you wait for a large enough space to get in. My space is getting longer and longer because i am afraid i will get in an accident if i don't have that extra room i need to accelerate up to highway speed (min. 50 mph on this highway).

Cvt transmission violently shakes at speeds 0-10 and causes auto stop to engage at all times extremely dangerous when driving through congested traffic on the highway. It performs poorly when in motion in any street or highway when driving very slow or after accelerating at a stoplight.

The contact owns a 2005 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that the srs warning light illuminated continuously. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 151,787.

Ignition lock failure. Car can be turned of and key can be removed from ignition when the car is in drive. Fortunately i use my parking break.

As i am driving on a four lane road, with high traffic, my engine and battery lights come on. The car seems sluggish. I notice that the ima has stopped working. The car stopped accelerating at its normal pace. This made it dangerous for me to maneuver in traffic. I just pulled into the closest auto place i could find. They said it needed a new hybrid battery. Since i am afraid to drive it with its unpredictable state i got on line and see there was a recall on the voltage converter. Now i need to get it to a honda dealership, pay for them to diagnose it, and see if honda will cover the cost of a new battery. I will probably get it towed there since i am scared to drive it now.

I have had my hch 2005 at the dealership several times since i bought it in 2011. It has had the recall updates as they were received. My mil (check engine light) is on constant. I have replaced all 3 oxygen sensors and the catalytic converter even after having the recall done for the secondary and third oxygen sensors. The light will not go off. When taken to the dealer they said it was the oxygen sensors and wanted $1,100 to replace them. But they are new so i know that's not the problem. Now i have learned there was some kind of recall that they failed to inform me of that was supposed to update the ecm and keep the problem i have been trying to fix from happening. Also had the juddering issue and 5 months after the dealer fixed the problem it started again. They said that it had to be something else and the recall would not cover a second repair. So now i have a car that has a judder at takeoff and cannot be inspected because the check engine light is on. I cannot take it to have the newest recall fixed with the airbags. I have put over $500 in it to get the light off so it could pass the emissions test but still not off. And i think that honda should have recalled all of these cars and junked them. I am a very upset consumer and feel that something should be done about all these issues. I will be submitting my repair costs labor and parts for reimbursement because i feel like honda should have done a better job.

On 26 february 2013, honda of poway, ca performed california department of motor vehicles (dmv) mandated service #r83 required to register my car for the 2013 year.the mandated service was a software upgrade for my vehicle's ima battery.the vehicle was driven directly home from the dealership approximately 20 miles.on 28 february 2013, i had driven approximately 20 miles when the ima and check engine lights came on.i contacted honda of poway that same morning and was informed by collin at the service desk thatmy ima battery had either failed or was in the process of failing and that the ima failure was an unfortunate coincidence completely unrelated to the software upgrade that the dealership had performed two days prior.my vehicle is an ultra-low emissions vehicle (ulev), it is apparently not covered under the california extended warranty of 10 years/150,000 miles.i have researched this issue on the internet and have found a significant number of complaints nearly identical to mine, including one complaint previously filed with the nhtsa.i strongly disagree with this not being a warranty issue and am formally submitting a complaint against honda for a well-known and documented manufacturer defect that they refuse to acknowledge and resolve.

The contact owns a 2005 honda civic hybrid. The contact stated that the battery was wearing out prematurely and had to be replaced every two years. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure was 64,000.

It lurches for it will accel when you don't want it to. Has trouble to shift into another gear loud noises. Was driving down the highway and i turned on the cruise control an accelerated faster than when i program data entry of the rpm's up. Had to step on the brakes a couple times to get it to stop doing that almost hit two vehicles i do all the transmission fluid changes recommended and oil. These are great cars but these problems that need to be addressed.

2005 honda civic hybrid.consumer writes in regards to several problems with vehicle and seeks reimbursement for repairs and an investigation of dealership.the consumer stated three days after purchasing the vehicle, it starting shaking while driving on the highway at 55 mph. The consumer returned to the dealer, where they rotated the tires and insulated thepillar. Four months later, the consumer returned to the dealer, because the vehicle was still shaking. The dealer performed an oil change. The following month, as the consumers daughter was driving the vehicle, all of the oil leaked out of the vehicle and it had to be towed the dealer, where they oil pan was replaced, due to it being stripped out. The ac compressor clutch was replaced.

In 2007 a honda dealership conducted upgrades to my 2005 honda civic hybrid computer system without my consent. It was in the dealership for recall notices.immediately my gas mileage went from 52mpg to 26mpg.the dealership refused to correct the problem. The dealership said the upgrade to the computer system should not have diminished the mpg.2012 the transmission went out in the car, i got the run around by the dealership on why the transmission went out.i was misdirected by a transmission company that said they could rebuild my transmission.the honda dealership had to step in to track down issues with the new transmission. Honda refused to accept responsibility for bad transmission parts. 2013 the ima and check engine lights are on.i am unable to register my vehicle due to the ima and check engine light disqualify my car from passing a smog test. The 2007 computer system upgrade caused my ima system to malfunction for years by not holding a charge causing low mpg.now the ima/battery pack is malfunctioning to the point it has to be replaced.honda refuses to accept the responsibility of their mistakes and fix my ima system.

A friend was driving us back home on the highway at speeds of 55-65 miles per hour, getting on an off ramps. She is an experienced driver and it was the first time she had driven my car. She told me that the steering wheel was very wobbly, the car was shaking and she felt she had no control over the vehicle; she had trouble steering. I had several incidents after that when i had start-up/judder vibration and extreme grinding when accelerating from a stop. It felt like the car was slipping out of gear. Honda determined the cvt transmission was bad; it was classified as slip/judder in honda's service bulletins 07-049 and 07-050 but i never received a recall notice. Honda paid 50% of the cost of replacing the clutch in september 2013 but the severe acceleration/slipping problems continued and within a week of having the clutch replaced i sold the car. I had bought it used with 28k miles on it; i sold it when it had 41k miles (i had driven it only 12k miles in six years and took a big loss on the sale). I was afraid i would have a terrible accident in it as it was absolutely unsafe. When i told honda i was still having these problems after the clutch replacement they told me to take it back to the dealer again; this had been four months of dealing with cvt transmission problems and i had spent enormous amounts of time on trying to fix a known civic hybrid defect so i traded in the car.

The transmission started "juddering" (slipping from start) early on at around 30k miles. The fluid was then changed and it would be fine until around 60k when it started doing it again. When the car is cold, the occurrence seem to less than when it's driven after a few miles. The car now has 95k on it, and the slippage and juddering" is now more pronounced and louder specially on inclines, up or down.

Multiple failures of the continous variable transmission dealership just changes transmission fluid until now, since vehicle is out of warranty they now recommend a transmission replacement.american honda motor will not cover the repairs.

Certified honda service locations would suggest replacing the entire transmission at a substantial costthis issue has notable safety hazards as it limits drivers' abilities to accelerate at low speeds, particularly to avoid a collision. This issue should be investigated as it still impacts many vehicles on the road in the us. I tried to trade this car in for a newer honda civic and they degraded my cars value due to the transmission issues.i did not make the defective part they did and want me to payfor it.this is wrong for honda do consumers this way.

Since about 42,500 miles, this car has done something being called juddering when accelerating from stop. Sometimes it is more severe than others, which means i cannot predict how my car will accelerate. This is a very dangerous condition that i thought was unique to my car. Upon further reading, it is clear that honda has an issue they need to fix. There have been times where the judder is so sever that it takes me up to 6 seconds to actually start to accelerate. That is extremely dangerous!! i will try(yet again) to see if the dealership will help get this taken care of once and for all, but i doubt they care.

From what i has been told to me by the dealer, the starter clutch in the transmission of the cvt civic hybrid becomes deficient and upon initial acceleration, from a stop, you feel a harsh jutter which gets worse with time until it fails. They put out a service bulletin but this only covers cars within warranty. But since out of warranty, they want people to pay $1500 to $200 for a problem which should never occurred.

When starting from a complete stop the transmission shudders and lacks take off power which could be a dangerous problem.

I have tried on several occasions to have honda honor its service bulletin to 'fix' the judder/slippage issue described in service bulletin tsb 07-049. Just like other complaints made here and on other forums online, the procedure that honda america prescribes does not fix this problem. Most certified honda service locations would suggest replacing the entire transmission at a substantial cost or continue driving with this issue until power train failure. This issue has notable safety hazards as it limits drivers' abilities to accelerate at low speeds, particularly to avoid a collision. This issue should be investigated as it still impacts many vehicles on the road in the us.

My car has what honda calls a slip and judder that occurs from transmission failure upon acceleration from stop.honda issued a recall for the first generation models of the civic hybrid ('03-'05) in japan to address the issue, but only an extended warranty on the one's in the united states.the fix that honda recommends will not actually remediate the transmission failure.they recommend burnishing the starter clutch and changing the transmission fluid.independent mechanics have recommended a new starter clutch and new bearings, an obviously more expensive fix.the real problem is that honda chose to use a cvt that cannot handle the load of more than one passenger in a car accelerating on a flat or decline road.the cvt fails when the load on the transmission is exacerbated by more than one passenger and uphill driving.the transmission failure can be dangerous accelerating on an onramp to a highway, as in my case.complaints of the cvt issue were not hard to come across on automotive related websites.some of the complainants had issues at 100,000 miles, others at only 20,000.the nhtsa should examine this issue further for the safety of first generation honda civic hybrid owners.

My 2005 honda civic hybrid is experiencing a shudder with momentary loss of power upon acceleration from a stationary position. Vehicle has been taken to honda dealership for a clutch burnishing procedure. This temporarily fixed the problem for approximately 3000-4000 miles. Problem has returned and has become a safety concern as there is momentary loss of acceleration power during the shudder event. Dealership insists on charging for another burnishing procedure though it is outlined in a technical notice. This shuddering happens upon every acceleration from a stationary position. It is not intermittent and can be felt every time i accelerate.

The contact owns a 2005 honda civic hybrid. While driving approximately 10 mph, the transmission made a loud noise and the vehicle started jerking violently. The dealer stated there was a vibration in the transmission (cvt).the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue.the failure mileage was 98,900. Updated 1/23/15 updated 9/7/2017

Transmission is juddering when accelerating from a stop.i'm only 10,000 miles over the 105,000 extended transmission warranty (they know the transmissions are broken), and i have an extremely extensive service record with the dealer.they refuse to work with me on the issue.a recall should be issued on the cvt transmission and starter clutch, and the warranty should be extended to 200,000 miles.

It lurches for it will accel when you don't want it to. Has trouble to shift into another gear loud noises. These are great cars but these problems that need to be addressed.

2005 honda civic hybrid began juddering when taking off from a stop.the transmission also began slipping.honda has acknowledged problem with the cvt transmission and extended the warranty to 105,000 miles or 7 years.however, they initially insist on attempting to fix the problem with a procedure called "burnishing".this procedure takes care of the problem temporarily, but juddering and slipping eventually comes back.this is not a permanent fix.the starter clutch needs to be replaced, a more extensive and expensive repair, but the only repair that fixes the problem for good.honda has a known defect, and they have used a band-aid approach to the repair; forcing customers to burnish the transmission before they will replace the starter clutch.customers have been forced out of the warranty period by burnishing and then having to wait for the problem to re-occur.safety is an issue here as the transmission slips and hesitates when trying to pull out in traffic.

Cvt transmission violently shakes at speeds 0-10 and causes auto stop to engage at all times extremely dangerous when driving through congested traffic on the highway. It performs poorly when in motion in any street or highway when driving very slow or after accelerating at a stoplight.

My vehicle has what honda has titled "a slip and judder" that occurs in the transmission and causes failure to accelerate from a stop or slow speeds. Honda issued a recall of 1st generation models of 2003-2005 civic hybrids in japan to resolve this issue. However, they only issued a limited warranty extension for these cars in united states. The resolution honda recommends does not remediate this failure. Honda recommends burnishing the starter clutch and changing the transmission fluid. Independent mechanics recommend replacing the starter clutch and bearings which is substantially more costly. It would seem that honda equipped these vehicles with a substandard transmission unable to accommodate the weight of the vehicle. The transmission fails with additional passengers not only during needed acceleration points, but also when driving on inclines. This failure causes danger when acceleration is needed to avoid collisions and/or when entering a freeway. Countless complaints of this same issue is easily found on many automotive websites with owners reporting between 100,000 and 20,000 odometer miles. It is my opinion that this dangerous condition should be investigated to insure the safety of the drivers and passengers of these vehicles as well as those driving alongside them. I have little doubt that this condition has been a factor in collisions and will increase over time. In simple terms, one could liken this response to a drivers foot slipping off the gas pedal while accelerating.

Tried to accelerate on to the highway, the vehicle judder and slipped. I could not gain enough speed to get ahead of traffic and other car's almost collided with my vehicle. This is a common dangerous occurrence when driving the car. Honda is aware of issue and refuses to repair.

Several months ago, i notice my car would shudder/ judder when it starts to drive/go.then i read online that it is happening to quite a few cars from 2003 to 2005 experiencingthis problem. I bought a extend warranty (7 years) but the honda dealershipwill not honor anything anymore. I recommend there just be a recall on this issue.it's dangerous situation.http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0b3259/0.

This car has an automatic transmission.when in reverse it struggles to move and honda says the transmission needs to be replaced but it only has 55,900 miles on it.honda states that only they can work on the cvt transmission and of course can control parts and labor cost and they will not sell parts to outside mechanics.it seems like a scheme to make money off of customers off of a unreliable part.checking the internet there seems to be a lot of complaints.a normal automatic transmission replacement charge parts and labor is around $1800 but honda wants $4200 to $4900.

On numerous occasions this car has accelerated dangerously when i was applying the brakes, including at intersections.i understand that this has been reported before.

My 2005 honda civic hybrid is experiencing a shudder problem when accelerating from a stop and when coming to a stop, either in city traffic or the highway on/off ramps. I have taken it to a mechanic who says he can't fix it. I fear for the one time my car doesn't accelerate from a stop and i get hit. Also, when i am breaking in traffic the break seems to release a little which causes the car to lurch forward. From what i have seen on this site and the internet, i am not the only one having these problems. I hope the issues that consumers are having with this vehicle are addressed and fixed before there are any deaths.

I totalled my car and not one of my air bags came out..on city street in motion i hydroplaned..

My 2005 honda civic hybrid has experienced the judder/shudder problem for years, and still honda dealerships say there is no fix. There are a few complaints on this website, but there are thousands on the internet. This is a real issue that honda has avoided. I had full confidence in honda's safety until owning this vehicle. I am waiting for the day my car doesn't accelerate from a stop, and it causes an accident with major injury. Honda will have a bigger problem on its hands if that happens.

Cvt transmission violently shakes at speeds 0-10 and causes auto stop to engage at all times extremely dangerous when driving through congested traffic on the highway. It performs poorly when in motion in any street or highway when driving very slow or after accelerating at a stoplight.

On numerous occasions this car has accelerated dangerously when i was applying the brakes, including at intersections.i understand that this has been reported before.
