Motorcycle fails to operate in traffic on commutes to work.headlights fail, electronic speedometer and display goes blank, followed by engine failure.this has happened twice this year and a stator was found to be burned on both events, requiring replacement.

The contact owns a 2004 honda cbr1000rr.while driving 55 mph, the speedometer displayed 35 mph.the dealer stated that the speedometer needed to be replaced.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure and current mileages were less than 11,000.

Honda 2004 cbr 1000rr motorcyle just just down at high speed and was very unsafe to ride.it started right back up and five miles later it did the same thing again. Turn signals started to flash erractically and the bike did seem to run right or have any power.very scary, very unsafe.i came very closs to having a wreck on this bike.it has only 600 miles on it.i was very dissapointed, scared, and i do not trust my new honda motorcycle as i do not want to ride a bike that just shuts down at high speeds as this can cause many problems, like death! not good!!

I have a 2004 honda cbr 1000rr. Well my speedometer is way off. It says i'm doing 38 when i'm doing 60. I've had everything checked out by 2 dealers. They says it's in the speedometer. And they said there was a recall for this year bike. I'd like to know what i can do to get this fixed. It worked fine but about 2 weeks ago is started doing this. So i don't know what to do.

Stator failure @ 25,000 miles.took bike to dealer for warranty repair.dealer refused to honor my extended warranty citing aftermarket headlights as the cause for stator failure.i have 23 other individuals in my group with cbr 1000rrs who have had their stator fail, some bikes having gone through as many as 6 stators.many of these bikes have the same type of aftermarket headlight system as myself, and they have had no trouble with dealer honoring warranty.i replaced the failed stator with a new oem honda part.after 10,000 miles on the replacement stator, my charging system is starting to show a steady drop in system voltage, and i believe this stator to now be failing as well.

Starter fails and battery does not charge. Engine eventually does not have power to run and dies. I have replaced two starter within 14,000 miles. Manufacturer defect? problem not covered outside of warranty period.

2004 honda cbr1000rr transmission locked up.***no answer required****mrthe vehicle would grind in the sixth gear.the consumer was driving when the transmission locked up.the gear fork was found bent.*sc

On november 2004 i bought a new honda cbr 1000rr from riva honda .after the first 500 miles it seemed to grind 6th gear i called the dealer and talked to one of there service technicians they told me it might need more miles to break in the motor . But just around 3000 miles it started to grind 6th gear . I was riding to work when i felt my bike locking up . I slowed down to pull off the road when the transmission locked up on be sliding the bike sideways i tried to in first gear but it just started to grind the only gear that was working was 5th gear ..500.00 dollar's of damage to the transmission and honda would not pay for the damage

On july 25, 2007, a 16 yr. Old driver makes an illegal left-hand turn in front of my son and his girlfriend as they were coming through the inter-section riding a honda cbr1000. The 16 yr. Panics and hits the brakes blocking my son's left lane.my son brakesto try and avoid the collusion but the bike fails to keep both wheels on the ground.the bike goes up on the front wheel in a vertical position.in that instancemy son is no longer able to control the bike and steer clear of the durango blocking his lane.the bike is now in control as it drives him head-on into the stationery vehicle crushing himinto the vehicle. Steve was only doing 15 -20 mph during the time of impact.the impact throws his girlfriend over the vehicle.she survives the accident sustaining injures to her ankle.my son dies at the scene of the accident.after over a year of doing my own research and investigation on this accident i discovered that this type of bike is known to do what is called a "rear-wheel left in extreme biking situations. Honda has been aware of this for some time but has failed to do any recalls or warn people of this hazard.this knowledge would have saved my son's life. He would have corrected the problem which can be fixed or got rid of the bike.i am now convinced that the cbr was the cause of my son's death.he would have survived if the bike would have maintained both wheels on the ground which would have enabled him to steer clear of the vehicle and avoid a head-on collision.this class of bike has the most deaths and accident more than any other bike according to the insurance companies.but due to the bike's reputation as a "stunt" and "racing" bike the riders are being blamed for these accidents for people are unaware of the braking issues.the 2009 honda cbr are offering a new braking electronic braking system which applies pressure evenly on the wheels preventing this "pitching" "rear-wheel" lift but it is an option not mandatory. How wrong!
