Regarding my 1995 honda accord v6 ex: last year, i went on a search for an older model honda accord to purchase for my son to use in the near future. I made a down payment on a 1996 4 cylinder sedan, only to find the srs light came on, and the anti- lock brake system automatically disabled as a result. The srs test gives vague results (as in - the air bags may..or may not..deploy. Icancelled my purchase. I looked at 3 other 95-96 accords and found they all had the srs/abs lights on. The owners told me they did not want to go to the expense quoted to replace the system, because they said most people don't care if it works or not. Airbags? you're kidding. I researched and found it is so common, thereentire chat groups on the subject and businesses built around the fault. There are even sites instructing owners how to bypass the honda problem, and how to disconnect the idiot lights, etc. I purchased the above mentioned accord from a trusted friend, and, of course the srs light and abs lights are on. 4 out of 4 honda accords. This one, a v6 ex.idecided to buy the 95 ex because i saw a recall for 95 honda accord srs online, and thought - at least they did something about it on this year model. Now, after scouring the pdf docs, i find the recall does not include the v6. And i find there are srs recalls on later model hondas, too. Thesrs failure is obvious for many years of accords and other honda models. We either have to pay $700 - 1,000 to replace them or worry we will suffer the consequences. I'm sure the shear number of srs tests and srs replacements will more than prove out the widespread problem. The biggest problem is the fact that people do not pay that kind of money to have it fixed. It makes you wonder how many serious injuries have resulted due to faulty honda srs.this recall needs to be expanded.thank you for your time. If you can offer any new info on my srs, i would be grateful.

The srs light came on when my wife was on a trip far from home.when she returned, i took the car to milton martin honda.they put it on the computer, but could find no fault code.they reset the srs light, but it came on again the next day.they had said that when this happened, they often had to replace the air bag computer.i checked the nhtsa web site and found that there had been a recall for 1995 honda accords for air bag problems (nhtsa item number sb041021).i also found a honda tsb on the problem (service bulletin number hon/a90).finally i found a large number of similar complaints in the nhtsa database by other owners of 1995 honda accords.consequently i called honda of america at 1-800-999-1099 and spoke to nicole royer at ext. 124157.she promised to call me back within 3 days with feedback about what honda proposed to do about my problem.she has thus far failed to call back 6 days later, and all i can reach is her voice mail when i attempt to call her.it is clear from the recall, the tsb, and the large volume of complaints that honda has a major problem with the air bags in the 1995 accord which they seem unwilling to deal with despite the fact that this is a critical safety-related component.i hope that nhtsa institutes an investigation and compels honda either to recall the 1995 accords for this problem or at least pay for repairs when the problem occurs.i own 3 hondas which i bought because of honda's outstanding reputation for reliability and honesty, but i am bitterly disappointed at their apparent lack of concern about this potentially very damaging problem.i would remind them and nhtsa of the ford/firestone case in which a known safety problem went unacknowledged until a number of accidents with injuries and fatalities occurred.surely honda would not wish to experience similar problems with their customers.

The replacement of the failing ignition distributor (engine light is on), which is essential part of the emission control system, is required on my 1995 honda accord wagon lx.in addition, there is a significant decrease to the mileage and speed sensor may need to be replaced. According to honda north america the extension of the emission warranty (tsb# 98-081) granted to all 1995-v6, 1996-all and 97-all accords, is not applicable to my year and model. Since the same exact issues were reported for vehicles covered by extension of the emission warranty (tsb#98-081), honda should also extend this coverage to 1995 v-4 accords.

I believe a faulty ignition switch is causing this and it is currently being recalled on models 1997 and newer. I would like to see this recall extended at least to the 1995 model. My car experiences the exact same problems. I'll be traveling along and the engine just quietly shuts down. I'm afraid of driving it for fear that the engine might quit when i try to pass another car or make a turn at an intersection. Thank you for your attention to this. Jason fritz.

A/c-heat- the switch to change hot/cold on dash keeps breaking. It "freezes into on position, and you cannot adjust the temperature. Driver power window switch- only when it rains or snows the window will go down just fine, but will not go back up. You have to keep the window up so you can pull up on the window glass and press the window switch "up" to get the window back up (if your lucky & it goes up !!!) transmission-the transmission slips when you go around a corner. It also slips if you are coming up behind someone, slow down for them to turn (or whatever) when you re-accelerate, the trans. Slips, then kicks in. When you are going 65mph on a highway, the trans. "jumps", and you can watch it do so on the tachometer while it does so.

While on the highway, the camshaft seal failed and all the oil leaked out of the engine, casuing the engine to be destroyed.the cam shaft seal has been recalled by honda.
Engine oil seepage from front of engine block, cost me $1400 for labor, honda took care of engine cost. This happened before honda conducted a campaign for engine oil leakage. Honda said, that what happened to my car wasn't correlated to the campaign. Every scheduled maintenance i took my car to a certified honda center plus the car haven't driving a lot in 2000 since i'm in the military and deployed to korea for a year without my car, my wife was only driving the car on base and short errands off-base. I want for honda to admit that what happened to my car was a major safety manufacturing defect and reimburse me for what i paid ($1400) to get engine replaced.
A valve connected to engine broke, causing damage to cylinder head.
While driving 75 mph the oil drained from the vehicle, causing engine to lock up.dealer determined that plug from engine housing came out.while driving the service engine soon light illuminated, vehicle would not accelerate or respond, engine locked up, consumer was not able to restart the vehicle, dealer replaced the timing belt, balancer shaft belt, balancer shaft seal and a retainer was put in to hold the shaft seal in place, consumer has been informed that a new engine is needed, consumer states there are two bulletins regarding the front balancer shaft seal and the front balancer seal, however honda will only pay 1/3 of the engine replacement cost.faulty brakes were causing a noise in the right front, dealer machined rotors and serviced front brakes.
I recently was a victim of a honda recall on front balancer shaft seal, which causes oil to be rapidly pumped out engine without warning, causing serious engine damage.i took my car to empire honda in denver,co (303)-399-8443.at empire honda they admitted it was the honda recall that caused me to almost wreck on the highway.they stated that it was covered under the honda recall and they started to make repairs.when they discovered that i needed a new engine, they stated they would only cover 1/3 of the cost.which is totally unacceptable, because problem never would have occurred if it were not for the "defect" in honda cars.i have the papers on the honda recall that states honda is suppost to replace my engine at no cost (front balancer shaft oil seal replacement pg. 5 "d").i know you have access to these papers please look at them, so you can see that i am correct.honda is trying to weasel their way out of taking responsibility for the "defects" in honda cars.if there is any information or help that would help me in my fight against honda to make them take responsibilty for their defects, please contact me (303)-458-6314.if there is anybody that can make honda take responsibility it is the nhtsa.

My 1995 honda accord ex sedan has had an exhaust buzz since the day after i purchased the vehicle brand new from freeland honda. Numerous attempts by the dealer to correct problem have failed. I was told by honda to "live with the problem" because some hondas make this noise and we can't fix it. It is a constant buzz at 1800 rpm's. Now that the vehicle is 4 years old, the "buzz" has grown to a constant vibration which can be felt in the steering wheel and the brake pedal, as well as through the floor and seats.

I purchased this vehicle on the date noted below with only 56,000 miles on the odometer. The dealer imports ltd. In st . Louis, moput the words exempt on the title in the process of selling me this vehicle. I did not realize he put this on the title due to the fact that i could not see from across his desk what he was writing and i was also so eager to buy the vehicle that i did not read the back of the title until i got to the dmv to register it in my name. I asked the worker at the dmv what this meant and she said she did not know. The car is a '95 and was claimed to only have one owner but just recently i started having trouble with my vehicle such as my transmission shifting really hard and acting as if it is about to go out. At this moment as i write to you, when i drive my vehicle it has a loud rancid odor coming from the front end. I was told that this was the gears in my transmission that are burnt and producing this offensive odor. I was told that it would soon go out. Now the reason for my complaint is that if this car only had 56,000 miles on it and i only put in another 30,000 (as of date) and i keep up with the regular maintenance of the vehicle then why is my transmission going out so early. I have also had to replace my motor mounts and front end sway bar links and will soon have to replace the entire drivetrain. In my opinion all of these repairs are consistent with a car that has higher mileage. There is possibly no way that car would only have 56,000 miles on it and the car is over 10 years old. It doesn't seem right so could someone please investigate the matter.
Transmission failed without warning. Car was in dealership for nine days. The next daysrs warning light went on, and would not turn off. Returned to dealership. Dealer said it had neverbeen recalled, and it was not their problem. I paid over $600 to have repair done, since i was advised the airbag would not deploy if the repair was not done . Research on nhtsa website found over 50 complaints for the same problem. Also found indications that recall notice 96 v 317000 addressed a problem with the srs. I never received this notice. I have called zone office five times and left messages. No one has returned a call. Also asked the honda of lisle service manager to contact zone office for me, was not done. Service manager would not give me the name of the dealership's owner to contact to try to resolve.

Abs light came on while attempting to stop vehicle at a stop sign. The vehicle failed to stop, sponginess occurred when applying brakes, then failure. Car went thru intersection before driver was able to apply emergency brake to stop vehicle. Dealer mechanic noticed slow leak abs modulator/accumulator system, and recommended replacement. Abs unit replaced at 71,035 miles. 8/2010. Cost for repairs $1600, must replace both as 1 unit, despite no failure with accumulator. At 104,000 miles, 6/2014, the abs light came on, and brakes were examined at brake, tire, front end, and alignment shop, where they have been continually maintained. An examination was done and no signs of unusual wear or damage to front or rear brakes, test drive done by technician. Recommended abs unit be diagnosed. Diagnostic performed at shop, determined that abs modulator needed replacement again. It had been 32,965 miles since the original abs modulator was replaced. Checked in with dealer and the abs modulator was only covered for 12,000 miles. Abs unit not replaced. At 117,141, 3/2016, the brakes failed again. While backing up and applying brakes they became spongy, went to floor, despite pumping, and failed again, causing vehicle to back into wooden benches, damaging car paint. Dealer estimation for abs unit repairs is $2300. Presently, abs unit not replaced. These overwhelming complaints, from vehicle owners, regarding the abs modulator unit, along with technical service bulletins, regarding the 1995 honda accord, support a recall being issued for the 1995 honda accord abs unit. This defective abs modulator is a safety issue and it is extremely dangerous to be without the ability to count on the braking system working, when it is vital to the stopping of the vehicle, and safety of others on the road!
The first incidence occurred in july 1999 and the dealer attended to the abs light on defect by r&r accumulator and abs pump & repair leak, bleed abs system & reset ecu. The abs light remained off thereafter. Total repair cost was $193.0. The problem however crept up again in november 2000, and the dealer diagnosed the problem as internal failure in abs modulator. The dealer advised that the modulator needs to be replaced and would cost $1200. Honda was contacted and offered to pay 20% of the repair cost.
Vehicle abs started making noise around 90,000 miles and was slowly losing fluid. Light came on permanantly at 100,000 miles and abs malfunctioned. American honda is aware of the problem. Tsb 96-05 was issued. Dealer stated it was a common problem and the modulater costs is approx. $1,100. No recall was issued knowing the plugs on the abs modulator were not properly tightened when the vehicle was shipped from the factory. This caused a leak of brake fluid from the system, which appears to have subsequently caused damage to the master cylinder pressure in the main braking system. Causing the brake pedal to go to the floor and a need to be pumped to obtain pressure in the braking system. Honda claims it is due to the age of the car but the tsb 96-050 clearly identifies liability of the abs system shipped with improperly tighten plugs. This is what they are requiring owners to take the car back and pay for.
Abs brake light stays on. Problem had been fixed (seal replacement) a couple of years ago, 9-10-99 to be exact, but about a year after that reoccured. Since then i have filled the abs reservoir each time the light came on and then the problem went away. Now that does not help anymore either. This seems to be a known and dangerous problem with this model and i thought at least that they would have fixed it the first time this problem came up.

Abs dashboard light came on one day, associated with a grumbling noise from the front wheels.the dealer said that sometimes these problems went away by bleeding the brakes, but that usually didn't work for long.i now suspect that the problem probably occurred before we bought the car, they bled the brakes to get the light off, and it "appeared" (re-appeared!) after i bought it...but i have no proof of that.the dealer wants $1500 to replace the modulator and accumulator.i've since seen enough complaints on this to suspect there is a problem with honda abs systems in general.i do not believe these are "wearout" components.

Abs light came on. Dealer says modulator is leaking and malfunctioning although abs light goes out when fluid is added. I believe modulators are being replaced when the only thing wrong is the leak. Cost is $1100 to replace. A safety feature such as abs should not be failing. This should be a recall or fixed at the manufacturer's cost.

Abs system continuously leaks brake fluid all over the engine compartment. Requires re-filling every month or so. Abs reservoir has been replaced by dealer but it still leaks. On several occations the abs has failed to work because the system had leaked all its brake fluid and nearly resulted in several accidents. Complaints to the bbb of washington dc have gone unanswered regarding this problem.
Abs modulator defect noted in tech service bulletin.dealership still insisted i pay $266- they said this was half- "a good deal" for me. If a manufacurer's defect, the manufacturer should have paid entire cost of replacement.

Abs light ondashboard has come on.dealership has examined vehicle, and determined thatabs modulewas leaking fluid.please provide any additional information/attachments.
Abs system not working, took to dealer and was told the modulator was leaking and that possibly other abs components were bad but that i would have to pay $70 to check it out. Was qouted "anywhere from $300 to $3,000" to fix and after telling the service manager that i had read that it was a common problem with the 95 accords, he confirmed that it was but said "it's really no big deal you still have regular brakes". I believe a problem like this should not occur on a car with only 50,000 miles and have read of many, many other people with the same model\year having the same problem. I think honda should repair the problem at no charge since it is an important safety feature.
Slammed on brakes, vehicle pulled to the right, steering did not work, resulting in totalled lost, a braking start there was only one skid mark mad on the highway, but when the slid began there are two skid marks.
Abs light came on followed by continuous pumping of the modulator assembly.the dealer quoted $1600 to replace the defective part.nlm

The abs light come on. The honda dealer price was $1700 to replace abs modulator and acummulator.
In june of 1999 i got into my 1995 honda accord to start it and the moment it turned over the abs light came on. I called one of the local honda dealerships (oneal honda) and made an appointment to bring my car in for them to check why the abs light was on.oneal honda ran my car through several tests and after 3 hrs. Told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it and they did not know why my airbag light was staying on.the manager of the service department said the only alternative was to check the electrical harnes to see if anything showed up there. He also said they may not find a solution with that option either. He wanted to charge me $500.00 for further investigation. I refused to have them do the work.. The following july,i started having problems with blue/gray smoke coming from the exhaust pipes. I had a service repair main check it out for me . His findings were that it probably had a cracked seal. My car only had 65000 miles on it at that time.i called the oneal dealership and talked to the service man about this problem. He said that was impossible. Honda's do not have those problems with that low of mileage. Not more than one year later the anti lock brake sensor (accumulater) went out . I took my car to jay wolfe honda to have it looked at. He said the brake fluid was gone and it needed a new sensor.i have always kept the maintenance up on this car. I cannot believe that a honda with such low milage should have all these mechanical failures. I am getting no satisfaction from the local dealerships other than a very expensive quoteson repairs.
Abs light comes on after routine service.service mechanic says leakage around seals of abs unit.paid $150 to have seals replaced--mostly labor.after service, brakes mushy and abs light still comes on.based on mechanic recommendation had master cylinder replaced and system bled again.problem still not fixed.abs pump will work for first few minutes while driving, but then runs constantly and quits, causing abs warning light to come on and system to shut down.mechanic says next step is to replace entire assembly at $1200+.for a system that is hardly used, this is unacceptable.it should last the life of the car!
My anti-lock braking system has completely failed, resulting in a $1,300.00 estimate to get them repaired.the repair shop advised me that many similar honda vehicles are experiencing this problem.since not many owners would be willing to pay $1,300.00 to get the abs repaired, it renders the abs system useless.as my vehicle only had 60,000 miles, it appears this problem is a manufacturing defect.
Abs light on. Abs failed on application on icy road.dealer determined abs modulator was leaking.i notice there are complaints by other owners regarding this matter.
Antilock brakes failed.
The abs light indicator has come on in the vehicle.the abs brakes are not working.have had an independant mechanic look at it and told us this is a fairly common problem honda is having.we have not been involved in an accident but are being very cautious.
Abs light came on. I brought car to dealer and they said there was a bulletin out to reseal and retighten the abs modulator. Abs light was back on within 4 months. Went back to dealer and was told it would cost $1400 to fix problem or ignore it because the car would operate perfectly fine without abs function. Lately the abs light is coming on sooner and more often and i am having to pump the brake pedal to keep it from going to the floor. I am going to the dealer today, but i am expecting the usual run around.

Abs modolator told by dealer is leaking, accumulator also is leaking, low on brake fluid, added fluid, abs light goes out. Told to check fluid, after 3 weeks no fluid leaking.cost of repair l,400.00.
The abs warning light came on while driving.the dealer advised that the abs hydraulic system had failed and that repairs would cost over $700.honda customer service refuses to take any responsibility for this defect, although it appears that this is a common problem in 1994 and 1995 accords.why hasn't nhtsa mandated a recall?the abs systems on these vehicles are clearly defective.honda is trying to avoid paying millions to repair their defective products. Nhtsa has an obligation to assist the driving public and compel honda to repair their defective cars.
Abs system isn't working.when consumer applies the brakes theygo straight to the floorboard, and the abs system kicks.consumer has to pump the brakes. Hard.
Abs power unit failed and was replaced, consumer was informed that the abs power unit was defective, consumer is requesting reimbursement for replacement costs.
Abs system leaked all its fluid, causing car to skid off road when brakes were applied.
Abs pump engaging while driving and light has come again.constant swishing noise in brake system when brakes applied.
Abs light came on 1 day after routine service. Returned to dealer and informed that abs module and accumulator bad (pump running constantly). Bleeding system didn't change condition. Cost to exceed $1450.00 for repairs. I have checked the internet and have found many instances of abs failures with honda vehicles, all in and around 1995 model vehicles. I feel that there is a problem that honda is aware of but isn't telling anyone about, nor are they willing to assist in the repair costs!the applicable web site is www.cartrackers.com/forums/live/honda/32.html, if you wish to check my claims out for yourself.i hope you will investigate this situation!
Abs light continues to stay on no matter what i do. Brakes feel hesitant. Brake pads are fine, brake fluid level is fine. This same problem has occurred to a lot of people and all honda motor company keeps doing is ducking and dodging and its time for the proper authorities to do something.i feel ripped off.
Vehicle was taken to the dealer because the abs light illuminated.the dealer determined that the abs control module had to be replaced. *mr
Malfunctioning abs modulator and accumulatorwere replaced for$1400.00 at 93700 miles. 1995, honda, accord v6 sedan.
Abs brake lockup, when brakes are applied the automatic brake system kicks and and then abs kicksin, causing a lock up, abs light come on and stays on.

Engine rough idle; also, poor fuel efficiency and excessive vibration.
While my wife was driving the car with our child at around 25 mph, there was a catastrophic failure, the car slowed down and started shaking along with loss of steering control and power into the wheels.she managed to steer the car to the side of the road to a stop and upon visual inspection the right front wheel was tipped and looked as if it had decoupled from the axle, and the front suspension had dropped on the right side.the car had to be towed to the dealer and while the car was being lifted on the tow truck i noticed metallic shavings that looked like wear debris coming out of the vicinity of the front right wheel.the dealer has informed me that the lower ball joint was destroyed, and the ball joint, the front axle and the control arm need to be changed.i asked the dealer if there had been any signs of corrosion and they said no.the car had also undergone a major servicing about 2 months back at the same dealership and nothing was noticed at that time.the failure appears highly unusual since this is a 7 year old car that has been dealer-serviced regularly and there were no prior signs of an impending, sudden failure.if the car had been going at a higher speed the consequences could have been dangerous due to the loss of steering control experienced.
