I was involved in a car accident traveling 35 mph, where i hit the passenger side of another vehicle with my front end. During the impact i recall my body moving forward, the seat belt restraining me, and my head continued to move forward hitting my chest. Due to the late deployment of the airbag, the impact of the airbag occurred on top of my head. I was knocked unconscious and it complicated the injuries to my neck and head. I also received an airbag burn on my right wrist from the escaping gas from the airbag vent.

Vehicle was purchased used & had been repaired from a crash.airbags did not deploy in aug99 crash.suspect airbags were never repaired from first crash and dealer that repaired & sold vehicle misrepresentated airbag status.rules, regulations, recourse???body shop that repaired honda from aug99 crash said "the airbags in those hondas never go off".he had a 99 accord in shopat time that had the entire front end torn off ($10k+) and the airbags had never deployed???by the samr token he had a chevy with minor front end damage from a curb & all bags had deployed.????but my question is: if my airbags were never properly repaired/replaced after the first crash what are recourse/options.what does the nhtsa require.have full documentation.?

Car was difficult to start twice.i thought nothing of the issue.driving home from work in may 2010 and the entire car went dead.no power to the engine or any accessories.luckily i was not in traffic or else the situation could have ended much differently with a complete loss of power.i coasted to a stop and wiggled the key, and limped it home with the hazard lights on.i researched the problem on the internet and traced the issue to a defective ignition switch.i ordered a beckarnley #201-1807 switch to replace the old one.the old switch was clearly worn and had burn marks on the metal, thus causing the lack of conduction in the ignition system.the car is running perfectly now.i believe this should be a recall as it is for other model years of the same model (honda accord).

Electrical part of ignition failed several times, then recovered; finally failed permanently.each failure caused the engine to stop, several times in traffic.
On vacation. Driving car engine stopped. Had towed. Mechanic said ignitor in distributor was bad, and that there was a recall of all 94 hondas to replace this part. He said it was the orginal part and was not replaced. Cost $424.00 to be repaired.
Two hours after vehicle had been parked, vehicle caught on fire. Suspected to have originated with the ignition.
Oil leak at distriburor.dealer says distributor is covered in oiland will fail.needs to be replaced.there currently is a recall for this same problem for 1990 through 1993 models.
The car lost power while i was sitting at a red light.i thought it had stalled, and it took me a couple of minutes to get it restarted.while i was driving home a few minutes later, the car lost power while i was driving.again, i thought it had stalled, but i thought it odd the car would stall while driving at speeds around 45 mph.i had to coast on the momentum of the speed the car was traveling before it lost power.i had to maneuver across 2 lanes of busy and fast-moving traffic and barely made it to the right shoulder before the car stopped.i feel i only made it off the road because the driver of the pickup behind me realized something was wrong, and he straddled the lanes of traffic behind me, forcing traffic to slow down so i could get through.i feel a serious accident could have occurred had this driver not done what he did.again, it took me a couple of minutes to restart it.i made it home fine, and we took it to our mechanic, who searched the engine, tuned up the car, but found no reason why it would have stalled.when i drove it again, the problem occurred again, this time when i was waiting to turn left into my home driveway.i switched my hazard lights on, but i'm not sure the lights actually turned on, because it took the drivers behind me some time to realize that i wasn't going to be turning left after traffic cleared.this time, i noticed that all power to the dashboard indicators was gone, and that the car had not actually stalled as i had originally thought the first time the problem occurred.a return trip to the mechanic confirmed that the entire ignition control unit and the ignition coil was no longer functioning properly, and he replaced it.there have been no problems with the car since the module was replaced, and it's been a few months.we had the recurrent problems in the 2 weeks leading up to when we had the ignition control unit and ignition coil replaced on 9/22/06.
Traveling on highway at 65 mph in high speed lane, lost all power to car--had to be towed, distributor at fault--cost $682 to repair.since learned this is the achilles heel of hondas--not too happy to be in high speed lane and lose all power--dangerous.
While interstate driving, car (engine) suddenly shuts down .noticed rpm drops to 0 at the instant of the shutdown.lost steering capability (steering wheel hard to turn in any direction), lost acceleration power.had to drift off to side of highway.luckily no traffic immediately behind.car towed to dealer.dealer determined ignitor coil, ignitor u and engine oil seal all failed.lost all oil from engine.dealer replaced coil ignitor, ignitor u, t-belts, oil seals, water pump, coolant and rubber, according to parts listing on invoice.damage amounted to $837.33. Honda now recalling and repairing oil seal but will not reimburse for water pump, exterior belts or the two ignition/ignitor parts replaced.this was a major failure that could have resulted in death on the interstate.if honda recommends replacement of a part to prevent future failure as in the case of the water pump, then honda should reimburse for same.
While drving the vehicle, the engine just quits. There is no stuttering, stalling, or engine misfires, it quietly just quits. The radio, heater fan, and brake lights still work.i was driving on the freeway in morning traffic going 70mph and the tachometer and speedometer went to zero and the engine quite.a second later the engine restarts.this happened twice on the freeway.i also have trouble running the car.it will start but not run.to have the engine continue to run the key needs to be forced forward.i needed to have my car towed and the tow truck driver attempted to start my car and told me he has seen this problem numerous times in honda's and acura's.he said the ignition switch is faulty.
Consumertried to start vehicle and all lights came on, but vehicle would not start.vehicle had to be towed to dealership where a technicianstated that there was an ignition problem.
The contact owns a 1994 honda accord. The consumer stated the keys would come out of the ignition when the vehicle was turned off and in park or when the vehicle was turned off and placed in neutral and only comes out when he turned the keyon the steering column to the lock position.there were no recalls for this failure.the vehicle was taken to an auto shop for a routine oil change and was placed in the neutral position.the service dealer stated that the key released out of the ignition and caused the vehicle to roll away.the vehicle struck another vehicle.the failure and current mileages were less than 170,000. My 1994 honda accord has the safety defect present in 1998 honda accords (refer to nhtsa campaign id number:02v120000). I was aware of the defect about two years ago but didn't realize the accident potential until seeing an article in february 2004 consumer reports (page 11).i believe a recall and dealer repair might save a serious accident or loss of life.

Faulty ignition switch on honda accord 1994 ex sedan. While drving the vehicle, the engine just quits. There is no stuttering, stalling, or engine misfires, it quietly just quits.when you finally coast to a stop and try to re-start, it immediately re-starts and runs okay.when the key is turned to 'start', the engine did start but as soon as you released the key to spring back to the 'run' position, the engine would quit. Eventually, it would stay running but it quit reguarly after that. I am going to repalce the part by tomarrow becuase this is serious . The car stopped in the highway , the stering wheel stop because it is hydraulic and abs brake stoped working.
I own a 1994 honda accord. Over the past month, while driving, the instrument panel would fail - almost as if the engine had been shut off. Over time the symptoms became more frequency and the engine would also switch off. This failure caused the vehicle's accessories including power steering to stop functioning and almost resulted in an accident.i later learned that the problem is caused by a faulty ignition switch which though known to affect many honda accords does not cover the 1994 model year. Replacement of the ignition switch, at my expense, has remedied the problem. *nlm

Starter failed once, and it made strange sound and failed to start first time and then after couple of times it started. This happened three times before the starter died. I got it replace from dealer with original part. After an year or so looks to be i am in trouble again with the same problem. Also front right power window rattles and dealer mentioned it needs regulator ($330). Numerous times the overhead light in the car fails. I am not sure is there any major problems with the electric system in the car itself or i am unlucky to have all.

"takata recall" the vehicle's ignition system has stopped working. On ming and akers bakersfield ca.,
1994 honda accord ex is used 6 months of the year as it is left at condo and has $17,400 miles. It is a perfect running car. On december 19, 2017 an icon showed up on the dashboard. It said "check". Was told it had something to do with the engine. Was going to bring it to mechanical station as it was late. After driving on a heavy traffic main road, it stopped in the middle of the road with no warning. It was pushed to the side and had to be towed. It was about $450.00. I now see the car was recalled for this years ago. I never got a recall warning. The reason i am writing this is becauseif there was a car in back of me, it would have been bad. If driving on i95 where cars go to 85 miles an hour, it would have been disastrous.this car is excellent and i was told by delray honda that "this engine will last forever".cars shouldn't be allowed to be sold to the public where it is possible to just stop while in motion. It was a distributor. Have a receipt if needed.
Tamara recall , i bought the c a e from birthday auto auction and i had it for 2\1 months and it's started making a struggling sound and would take longer to start up then after that the whole enguin started to shake and the thermometer went out then it wouldn't speed up past 25 miles from that point i haven't been driving it.

Re: honda balancer shaft defective oil seal and blowout problem.i recently and suddenly experienced this problem with 94 honda accord.my family and i had been on a trip to l.a. And back on several freeways, the seal blewout and the oil was drained within minutes. It could have causedthe engine to freeze up and created a terrible accident.i called honda customer service, they had a very indifferent attitude, they saidthey made a public offer to correct the problem but that offer has now "expired"."it wasn't offically a recall so we don't have to fix anything". "it wasn't officallypegged as a safety issue, so no recall was imposed."trust me, losing your oil suddenly at high speeds can very easily become a' safety 'issue! i would like to ask the n.h.t.s.a. To reconsider the problem and make it arecall ! let's take the indifferent attitude away from smugg automakers that arevery aware of "safety" problems, they know that they have defective parts that were not corrected. A $5 retainer (that should have been there in the first place )would avoid this problem!please enforce a recall on honda and make them responsible for their error in design.thank you, tom ross.
The contact owns a 1994 honda accord. The contact was driving approximately 45 mph and noticed blue and black smoke emitting from the hood area. The vehicle was pulled over and the contact inspected under the hood and detected no flames. There was an excessive amount of oil was leaking from the engine. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer four different times for the same failure. The first occurrence, the cam shaft seals were replaced. The failure continued with no resolutions. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
While driving 50 mph, the oil light started blinking.the consumer drove home to discover that the engine was dry of oil.the oil had dripped out through the head gasket.there is a technical service bulletin concerning this problem. *ph
Failure occurred while vehicle was idling. If failure occurred at highway speeds complete loss of vehicle control will occur with high potential for fire.
A/c recall - cooling system never works properly.defrost doesn't clear windows on left side.engine started leaking oil profusely (part recall?)abs braking system went out.lighting switch went out & all lights blew.antenna does'nt work properly.windows are coming down slower and slower.seems like the transmission might be the next to go.this car has been a continual case of murphy's law.

Balancer seal failer caused oil losssoaking timing belt and balancer belt must all be replaced at owners expense.
Vehicle began pouring out oil from within the timing cover. Ended up replacing all belts including timing belt due to oil having covered everything. Also replaced water pump while unit was open. Mechanic said balance shaft seal was cause of problem - said it was the 4th he had seen in about the last week that involved an accord. Researched recall info on internet and discovered in usa today sept 19,2000 that there was a problem in ohio manufactered cars and those were being recalled for what appears as the same problem. Thisvehicle was manufactured in japan however. Made a call to honda motor co., said that there were no recalls for this vehicle in particular but that they received their info from nhtsa and could not help me since there was no existing recall.seems a honda should go more that 50,000 without major engine repair work. Thanks for your help!
My vehicle had the oil pump seal "fall out,"causing a large volume of oil to be pumped out of the engine. Fortunately the engine was not damaged as the vehicle was being used for a trip of about three miles, and was turned off before damage was caused. My auto technician told me that this seal was laying inside the timing belt cover. He told me that he has repaired a number of vehicles with this same problem. He also told me honda is aware of the problem, and has designed a retainer to install to keep the seal from falling out. This retainer was installed by him, plus a bunch of other belts that had been soaked by oil and rendered unusable. I have not contacted the dealer or the manufacturer, but my technician has told me that honda is not offering any financial assistance in covering this repair, which just cost me $390.00. This problem could have easily caused a complete loss of oil (it lost three quarts of oil over a distance of a mile or less; it only holds four quarts!), potentially causing engine lockup and the replacement of an engine, plus our inconvenience. This is apparently a design flaw, as honda has implicitly acknowledged by designing and manufacturing this retainer for the oil pump seal. I think honda owes me some money, and i think there should be a voluntary recall from honda to correct this problem. That is my opinion. I know the vehicle has 90000 miles, but this wasn't a part that wore out - it fell out! that is primarily what my opinion is based on. Incidentally, this vehicle has received regular maintenance from me and my technician. I will be contacting the dealer and the manufacturer about this as well. Thank you.
Balance shaft seal failure lead to catastrophic oil loss from timing belt cover housing.may be design defect in original seal because dealer fixing car said replacement part was 'larger' and he did a steady business in repairing hondas with failed balance shaft seals.the dealer had not seen any failures of the differently designed replacement part balance shaft seal.(this dealer was in new hampshire where the seal failed.)fixing a shaft seal failure requires new balance belt and new timing belt in addition to new seal.if engine damage has occurred due to the sudden oil loss, you might as well give up.apparently the seal fails without warning (our seal failed within two weeks and 700 miles of a very major servicing by the dealer).
Balancer shaft seal popped out. All engine oil quickly lost. Camshaft froze in head. Crankshaft continued to turn, stripping teeth off of timing belt. Oil soaked brake pads, tires and belts. Mechanic said engine needs replacement, damage irrepairable. Head, crankshaft, and pistons damaged. Repair costs $2000 -$4000. Car lost all power and was stranded in the road, could have caused accident. If i had to stop in a hurry, could have crashed due to oil soaked brakes. Why isn't there a recall on this engine. I see numerous complants on this same faulty oil seal.
Balancer oil seal failed and all oil gushed out, causing saturation of the timing belt, balancing belt and drive belt, the water pump and all three oils seals.honda dealer required that all these parts be replaced, resulting in a bill of $809.57.the nhtsa consumer complaint database lists over 7 related complaints for the failure of oils seals.i have requested from the dealer the damaged parts, but have not received them.the dealer was unaware of this problem, although there appears to be a related nhtsa service bulletin, number 961001b.the seal costs about $12 to $13, but its failure can cause extensive damage and safety problems.
Timing belt had been replaced at normal 90,000 mile checkup.the balance shaft seal broke while car in driveway, all of the engine oil was discharged.car was towed to a honda dealer, where the seal and all timing belts had to be replaced.dealer denied that the "blowing" of counter shaft seals is a problem with accords.according to complaints to your department, it appears that especially in 1999 there has been a significant increase in the number of similar complaints (possibly a connection with the changing of timing belts?).this is such a common problem that there is even a "fix" used by some (but not all) honda dealers [sure seal counter balance shaft seal shield].i have been unable to get the local dealer to fully reimburse me for the full cost of this repair, and i am seeking your assistance.given your research, how extensive is this problem? i am 20 year honda owner, and this will be my last honda if i am unable to resolve this reimbursement issue.i don't expect honda's to be perfect, but i do expect their service departments to be honest.this is a safety issue--i had recently returned from a "driving vacation" with my sixteen year old son.had either of us been driving when the seal broke, engine locked up, etc., the injury and/or fatality section of this questionnaire would probably have been answered very differently.
This crack has now completely circled the the bolt and the bolt broke off, leaving a hole in the block. Please inform me of my rights regarding this my car has a lot more miles and the dealer will not honor this repair without charge to me.

11-7-2000 incurred an expense of $827.93 resulting from a blown out balance shaft seal. 11-29-2000mailed to honda a request for reimbursement with: the procare invoice for 827.93, copy of the receipt, and century honda invoice confirming inspection of balance shaft seal correction.1-13-2001received postcard from honda confirming receipt of claim. They claimed the did not receive the century honda invoice. 1-23-2001after days, yes days, of busy signals i was finally able to fax the invoice they said they did not receive. All phone calls in the last three months of this ordeal have resulted in busy signals or being put on hold. Ihave put the phone on speaker at work and waited as long as an hour before giving up. Honda has basically made theirselves inaccesible. 3-2-2001 to date no response from honda except previously mentioned postcard.have

Vehicle loss all oil due to cam seal malfunction.
While driving at highway speed, the balancer shaft seal broke and all the oil leaked out of the engine. This caused the camshaft to crack, resulting in my having to replace the engine. Honda agreed to split the cost of the engine 50/50, but i feel they should have paid the total bill, due to the fact that they knew of this problem, and have since updated the seal, and are now putting a guard/plate on the seal to prevent this from happening again. Please inform as many people as possible, because this problem put my life in danger as i was on interstate 95 in new jersey, and luckily was able to pull to the shoulder of the highway after losing control of the vehicle when the cam broke. This could happen to anyone, and is extremely dangerous.
Engineseal came out, causing major oil leak while on the parkway, all belts including timing belthad to bereplaced.
Balancer shaft oil seal popped out dumping the entire engine's oil onto my driveway.the vehicle needed to be towed to newport, ri ($80) then there were extensive damages incurred by the leaking oil which resulted in several belts becoming contaminated and needed to be replaced ($574 total repair cost).i just recently (11/27/02) received notification regarding the recall of this part and am furious that honda's negligence resulted in a large repair bill and thank goodenss that my engine didn't seize because i was driving it when it happened.
A seal on a shaft near the timing belt came off creating a massive oil leak.all belts and parts were soaked with oil.i had to have a complete timimg belt replacement procedure.i had just had this procedure at approximately 90,000 miles as recommended by the manufacturer.i understand that the problem may now be recognized by honda as they have issued a seal retainer to hold the seal in place.
Timingbelt failed.nlm
Complete loss of oil while on highway - i later found out this was the failure of the balance shaft, which had been a known problem with this make/model since 1996. I had to have my car towed to the nearest repair shop (the dealer was too far away to have it towed there). They diagnosed and repaired the problem (all my belts and hoses had to be replaced inclding teh timing belt) tothe tune of $565.45.since the day i bought the car (new) i had it faithfully serviced at the dealer. Since this was a known problem and i regularly had my car serviced with this honda dealer, why didn't they alert me and have the restaining clip installed? this cost me $565.45 and put me in a very dangerous position on the side of the road (to avoid blowing out the engine). Needless to say i have not had my car serviced at a honda dealer since this incident. I believe i deserve to be reimbursed for this expense by honda.
The timimg chain broke at highway speeds. Manufacturer and dealer have been notified.
My balancer shaft oil seal failed, and pumped out all the oil in my engine.i found out that this was part of an on going product update.honda america agreed that they would pay for the repair to the seal, but the timing belt also needs replacement due to oil saturation from the failed oil seal.they state that they would not cover this, and i would have to pay $410 for this repair!in the honda campain, it mandates a change of the timing belt.i will not pay for this, and if the timing belt fails due to the oil, will honda be liable for any accidents, damage, or injury this may cause?if the timing belt snaps, i believe that i would lose any power steering and brakes because the engine would die.

I purchased a used honda from the above toyota dealership. It had a pending oil leak and a dead battery. Over the next two months i had to return to have the leak fixed. For under my purchase contract the leak would be repaired. After the fourth time returning for an oil leak, the dealership(findlay toyota) said i had a cracked engine block. Upon requestof what was i supposed to do and would they help me and would my 2 year warranty pay for it? no was their reply. I took it to a honda dealership and was able to have it exposed,(yeh, right!) and paid for that repair. The honda dealership also found some other faults with the car that in my mind should have been handled in "toyotas point inspection before sold to the public." what are my rights? do i now own a lemoncar? its value has significantly faltered now due to the cracked block.

Brought car to mike piazza langhorne pa honda dealer (1908 e. Lincoln hwy - 215-702-1500 / ) - refused to fix defect unless i paid $68 in the event that the dealership may break an aftermarket ignition wire while conducting their manufacturing defect.i elected not to have the defect fixed at that time because they wanted me to pay additional money to fix the problem.the defect occurred out of my control.my question, am i liable for this occurrence under a mfg recall?isn't a manufacturer responsible to fix defective product free of charge?is this how they go about making money on recalls?a defective part - is a defective part.it should be corrected no matter what expense is to come to the manufacturer.what are the quality controls methods going on at honda mfg plant to eliminate defective product?this langhorne dealership is looking for $68 if they break a part to get to the defective part.i would like assistance from the government regarding consumer related problems with manufacturers.what are the rights to innocent consumers faced with recall problems.i would appreciate hearing from the parties involved and how we can rectify this situation.dt

Engine lost all oil on freeway due to seal failure, mechanic said it's common
Balance shaft seal blew out it caused a oil slick on the freeway soaked the timing belts and lost all oil pressure. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer for repairs they charged me 400.00 for the repair they said the have seen quite a few of these problems but insist its not a saftey concern.causing a oil slick and possibly a fire in the engine compartment isn't a concern. As a mechanic i have seen this problem in my shop 6 times in the last 2 months.
Massive oil leak due to failure of balancer shaft oil seal.$1,700 peripheral engine damage.item recalled, but honda will not honor majority of repair cost. Very late recall; 1.2 million vehicles involved according to honda.
Oil seal/balancer seal "popped off" of the engine. Dealership sees 3-4 of these every other week. Technician has invented oil seal holder part to hold oil seal on because of the frequency of this repair. Honda will not recall. My costs $399.87. All of the oil leaks out of the engine when this occurs; very dangerous to be driving with this faulty part in so many honda accords from 90-97. The front balancer shaft oil seal blew out, causing rapid oil loss, and the oil pressure warning light to come on.we were in heavy traffic, 20 miles from home.the car needed to be towed.the dealer knew of this seal problem and sold me a retainer (not made by honda) the timing belt and balancer belt had to be replaced due to oil damage, along with the water pump, which a dealer would replace at timing belt replacement. Parts alone were $123.00.if i had been notified by honda that this seal may blow out, i would have installed the retainer when the timing belt was replaced at 90,000 miles.the oil coated much of the underside of the car, and posed a fire and pollution hazard.i believe honda should be more forthcoming about this problem.

I was recently denied assistance in the repair of what i consider a safety concern on the 1994 honda accord.the fuel gauge malfunction is a safety related concern.i learned the bulletin pertaining to this wasn't released until 1995. When the dealer was called during the first months of ownership to ask if they were aware of any concern with the fuel gauge not reading properly naturally they said no. Because of this the car was never bought into a dealer for repair. Here are excerpts from my letter to honda:re: vin # [xxx]my fianc is the original owner of this vehicle.her accord now has about 150,000 miles on it.when my fiance started a new job and began driving the accord more frequently(over 500 miles/ week) i inspected the vehicle.for the most part it only required some minor maintenance.the one issue that i did discover however was that the fuel gauge does not read full when the tank is full.i asked my fianc about it and she said that it was like that since the day she first purchased the vehicle.i decided to find out if there were any bulletins from honda to address this concern.i learned about bulletin no. 95-013, which specifically addresses the fuel gauge concern.last week i asked my fianc to take the car to a honda dealer to see if they could provide some assistance in repairing this concern.the bulletin even mentions that repairs might be eligible for goodwill consideration after warranty expiration. My fianc was disappointed when the service advisor basically blew her off saying that with the mileage she had on the vehicle there wouldn't be any assistance. The bulletin states it's an issue with the electrical resistance in the sending unit. To me this says that it wasnt working right from the beginning when the car was first produced. The owners of this car should've been issued a recall notice to have this potentially dangerous concern repaired.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was approaching a red light, starting to gradually apply brakes more than 200 feet away from the intersection. There's only one car in front of me; it already stopped in front of the intersection. When my car was about 15 feet away from the front car, i felt a sudden loss of braking power, and would have a direct collision with the front car. I immediately made a sharp left turn. My car's right front light area hit the front car's left rear bumper. My car continued moving, and finally stopped on the curb/grass by the side of the intersection. Later the tow truck driver confirmed that my car had no brakes at all, which was also later confirmed by professional mechanics.prior to the accident, we (my girlfriend and i) hadthe car for 7 years. We had never had brake problems. The accident took place toward the end of a 250-mile round trip high way driving. I didn't feel any brake problem during the driving before the accident.
I was driving locally applying the brake when the pedal went down nearly to the floor.i was able to get the car to my mechanic a short distance away.the brake line had ruptured just aft of the gas tank where it passes transversely over the frame to the right rear wheel.the line fore and aft is coated but this section is not and had corroded.the condition of the brake line at this point is not visible to inspection when the car is on a hoist.

This is the second major "defect" i have had with this vechile. First it was with the oil seal which resulted in a $750.00 repair and now with the abs which is $1665.00.how about making honda responsible for the defects they have in this car. I'm tired of shelling out big bucks for their mistakes.
After purchasing our new honda accord wagon on 4/10/94 we noticed that the brakes did not feel as though they were operating correctly. We took the vehicle in to the dealer on 7/19/96 to have the brakes serviced because the rear brakes were worn out after 18261 miles. We asked the service manager if there was something wrong with the brakes due to the premature wearing out of the rear brakes. We were simply told that this was normal for this car with anti-lock brakes. We needed to have the car serviced again for an unrelated problem on 11/26/97 and we again told the service manager that the brakes were not functioning right and we were again told that this was normal for this car. On 9/13/03 while i was driving the car on the 880 freway i applied the brakes as i was about to exit and the brake pedal went straight to the floor. Luckily i was able to quickly pump the brakes fast enough to get the car to come to a stop without hitting anything. I brought the car to a nearby midas repair facility and they informed me that there were quite a few service bulletins covering the problems that i had experienced with my vehicle and that the dealer should have dealt with them before this failure. I was forced to pay over $1400.00 for repairs to my vehicle that were the direct result of the honda dealership's failure to look into my concerns about the brake problems and look up the service bulletins on file. They put me, my wife and my son's life in danger by not doing their job.
Abs light comes on and goes off nemerous times while car is in use.accumulator makes loud noise at start of vehicle and through out driving.brake sometimes goes to the floor.have noticed several complaints on this issue, and want more information on knowing if honda dealer will replace and fix the problem.this should be considered a "safety recall" due to so many defects.this could cause severe accident for many innocent people.obviously this is a mjor defect because honda corrected this problem in the 1997 model.
Abs unit is leaking and unsure if it will actually works when needed. The accumulator keeps buzzing trying to build pressure and does this every few minutes. There is also a leak on the bottom of it.
Orginal abs modulator leaked and was replaced. Now factory installed replacement is leaking. This is a high risk of accident problem because honda plumed the abs system in with the hydralic brake system. Leaking in the abs system can cause failure of brakes andan accident.

We purchased our 1994 honda accord wagon new on 4/10/94 from honda of hayward in california. After about a year or so my wife noticed that the brakes felt different but could not specifically state why. On 7/19/96 we brought our car into the dealer because the rear brakes were squealing. We were told that they were worn out and needed replacement. I questioned that the rear brakes would wear out after 18261 miles and was told that this was normal. I was charged $129.08 for this work. On 11/26/97 we needed to have our honda serviced due to a failed cam bearing seal. While the car was being serviced we told the service manager jim mclaughlin that the brakes felt strange in that they pulsed and the abs light would come on when the car was driven on trips of 100 miles or sobut would go out when the ignition was turned off. We were again told that there was nothing out of the ordinary for this model of car. (we were also charged by the dealer for the replacement of the seal and had to apply for a refund several years later when the safety recall was announced) on 11/17/98 i had to have both the front and the rear brakes replaced with the odometer reading 36198. This cost $166.49. On 5/1/02 we had the brakes replaced again with 66246 miles on the car. All during this time we continued to have the same problems with the brakes. This cost $289.21 for the repairs. Finally on 9/13/03 while driving on the freeway i attempted to apply the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. The vehicle was taken to a midas facility where i explained to the manager what had happened and he checked the car and then showed me the service bulletins that were on his computer for 94 accords with vin no's starting with 1hgc. The defective accumulator was replaced ($1182.54).after completing the replacement of the accumulator we drove the car and noticed the brake pedal fading into the floor and they determined that the master cylinder needed to be replaced.
The abs brakes failed. The dealer wants approximately $1400 to repair. Car is well maintained with low mileage.
Abs accumulator failed resulting in leakage.
Looking into the techincal service bulletin you will see over 6 bulletin reporting the loss of brake fluid from the abs accumulator / moldulator area.this appears to me to be a manufacturing defect, a safety issue as well.since i have never used my abs, i can not understand how this system has failed due to brake fluid leakage.i feel that since the goverment pushed abs and the manufacture charges additional for the feature the manufacture should be held liable for the defects of the unit.this repair is obnoxious for the tyical consumer, costing almost $1200.00 to repair.this is absurb, this is a safety feature, why has this not been recalled previously?its time that someone stood up to the manufacture and expressed that if they charge additional for features of safety they should be forced to back them. Thank you.
Problems with abs system and air conditioner compressor.*mrthe abs failed with less than 80000 miles on the vehicle. The technician stated that it was notrequired for safe operation of the vehicle.the consumer moved to virginia, and now the vehicle won't pass inspection unless the abs light is off.the a/c compressor also failed within the first three years.*nlm
Very expensive parts and labor! a dangerous braking problem awaiting owners. Soft pedal results during leaking.
Speedometer was ordered by the dealer on 2 feb 2001.to date there is no expected arrival date for the part (speedometer).dealer stated that the problem with the abs is caused by a internal leak that during warm weather would cause intermittent abs failure.dealer stated that the entire abs unit would require replacement.
Abs do not function when fluid leaks out of reservoir, but the standard braking still works, though differently on wet roads.several service bulletins exist regarding this problem.
As i approached a stopped vehicle in front of me, the anti-lock brakes failed to respond at all.the pedal responded appropriately, however the car did not slow down at all.i hit a van in front of me, which was pushed into a truck in front of her, which then collided with a police car in front of her.there was approximately $4000 damage to my car and the others are being assessed. I tried twice to apply the brakes without success.also neither of the airbags deployed.my speed was approximately 35 mph.

This is my second "major" defect with my 1994 honda.the first was an oil seal which honda a year later had a recall on.i have now have a problem with the abs brakes.i have complained about this for almost two years and got numerous answers on why the light kept coming on.now almost two years later they tell me i need a whole new system which is going to cost $1300.00.to me this is a safety hazard when your brakes are not working properly.this should be a honda recall.several times when i was at the dealership other people with the same year car have come in with the same problem and were told the same answers. Honda should be made responsible for this defect.
Abs module was out of warranty, but owner believes a major safety feature like this should last the lifetime of the car, especially when repairs cost $1200 or more. My mechanic (honda-trained) said he did 5 abs repairs in 3 weeks. Why was the abs module redesigned in 1996? perhaps a higher -than- normal failure rate trend was noticed (just my opinion). Pre-1996 acura legends also have the same abs module.
As i turned on the ignition, the abs light came on, signalling that the abs system was no longer functioning.according to the honda diagnostic service, the modulator is leaking.both the modulator and accumulator have to be replaced at a cost of over $1500.00.i have been told by mechanics at two honda dealers in my area (open road honda, edison, nj; z&w honda, princeton, nj) that this is a very common problem on '94 hondas, and that the abs breakdown is the result of inadequate design.these parts, i have been told, have been redesigned to prevent breakage.the abs system is a true safety feature, and i feel that the manufacturer should been forced to recall the vehicle for repair.
The car has abs brakes and when it accelerated the braeks failed and would not stop the car. Please describe.
Have seen many previous compalints about 1994 abs system with honda and would like this to be filed as a campaign for a recall

The car pulls towards the left very strongly and you need to apply force to keep it straight. I got all of the wheels aligned, but it didn't have any effect. The exhaust system makes unnecessarily lot of noise, the gas indicator does not show the full indicator. The trunk hydraulic opening system doesn't work properly even though the dealer replaced it under teh warranty, still it is the same problem.

Car is experiencing slow air leak on 2 wheels. Tires and valve stems were replaced on all 4 wheels. The slow leaks continue. I was told by the dealer that my alloy rims (standard on ex model) may be responsible for the leak. I see no other possibility since the tires and valve stems were replaced and the probem wasn't solved. Reading failures reports for the 94 accord model, i find similar problems described by other owners. If there is a pattern of leaky alloy rims on 94 honda accord models, this is a serious safety issue.
On my way back from mt rushmore on july4 on i90 e to st paul, mn , something happened resulting in steering pull, tire overheating and eventually the tire layers came off hitting the fenders & bumpers causing some damage..i suspect the problem may be related with tire stem..fortunately there were no major casualties...i still feel horrified by the incident..something must be done to avoid such incidents..

Dt*:the contact stated the aluminum used to manufacture the alloy wheel does not allow a proper seal between the wheel and tire.as a result, the wheels must be cleaned and air must be refilled more than usual.
