I am very concerned about the car seat we had been using with my daughter.it was a cosco car seat/high back booster model number 02-442-jub.she is wiggling the "easy to use" one piece harness retainer until the seat belt is freed and therefore offering her no protection.she had done this at seven months of age.children at this age have no concept of right and wrong and therefore cannot be taught to "not" unhook the belt.we did however try to divert her attention to other objects which worked for a few minutes only.i wrote to cosco wanting to inform them of this danger and i was told i should use "positive reinforcement" to keep my child from unhooking her belt.???positive reinforcement at 7 months old?needless to say that is an impossible "ideal".i feel this seat should have a different mechanism for the chest component of the 5 point harness.that alone would solve the problem.i would appreciate anything that can be done to protect "our" children.
I was driving down a major street when the engine suddenly died.i reacted quickly and was able to coast and pull off onto a side street without interrupting the flow of traffic.i barely made the turn without the power steering.i did some investigating and found that the ignition switch had some burned contacts.that's what caused the sudden loss of power.
Vehicle was parked in garage.about four hours later, whiledriving about 200 yards, a burning smell then fumes appeared. When hood was opened the consumer saw flames.alternator, possibly wiring harness system defect, caused the fire.dealer cannot duplicate the problem.

While turning, the steering experienced hard, sudden pulls to the left and right with a hard binding and breaking loose.eventually, a massive transmission fluid leak occured with the subsequent loss of drive.investigation found the transmission had a catastrophic failure due to a "carrier pin" failure in the final drive.honda reasons this to spinning the wheels on a slick surface such as ice or snow.this automobile has never been abused in this manner.my brother owned the vechile from new and i am the second owner.this automobile has always shifted very hard and repeated attempts to have honda dealers correct it were met with no action.instead everyone stated that this is the way all 1990 accords shift.i suspect the shifting pressures were incorrectly set at the factory or a basic design/engineering flaw with the transmission.if the sudden drive failure had occured in dense traffic, and jammed a drive wheel, we could have been killed or injuried others.repeated attempts to have honda recognize the problem have met with failure.
Consumer was driving the vehicle and the transmission went at 66,000 miles.tt

The passanger front lap belt has failed. It is under a lifetime warranty. Handa has failed to fix it.
Normally when you trying to exit the car driver opens the door and the shoulder belt moves forward to let you exit. The problem that i am reporting is that instead of the belt moving forward it moves back toward the driver' or passanger, securing them with extra force to the point you are unable to move. This problem occurs only 5 or 6 times a year.when it happens, the only way i have found to bypass it is to reclose the door and restart the engine and then reopen the door.i have tried to disconnect the belt from the upper clip to relieve the pressure on my chest and then go through the restarting process. I reported this problem early on to the dealer. But naturally i could not demonstrate it to them, and they could not make it happened. So i have learned to live with it.i am reporting this because it may be happening to other people, and in my opinion it could be a serious safety problem under the right circumstances.

1990 honda accord two door coupe passenger front seat belt malfunction.my front track seat belt is locked in the forward position.normally it retracts to rear position after door closes.i took my car to local honda dealership after they said over the phone that seat belt repair was covered for lifetime of vehicle.the dealership had the car for two days then said i needed a seat belt control unit, not covered by lifetime warranty.dealer did not fix malfunctioning seat belt.i called honda usa in torrence, ca.(1-800-999-1009), they also said seat belt control unit was not warranted.i do not know what to do other than fix problem at my own expense.is honda's assumption correct in stating seat belt control unit is not part of the seat belt, thus not covered under lifetime warranty?

My car, like many other honda's i've observed, is rusting from the inside-out around both rear fender wells.since i live in the midwest i thought it may be weather related.i've since noticed many other honda accords from various other states, with little to no snow, ice, and/or salt during the winters, having the same problem.the paint in the affected areas is still there, but has bubbled.before i have this repaired, i just wanted to check to see if this is possibly a defect in the manufactures design and/or materials.

The driver's side locking mechanism is defective.the door is permanently locked and cannot be opened from the outside handle or interior handle.i feel this is a safety hazard because i am unable to get out of the driver's side door.in the event of an accident or fire or other mishap, this may prove fatal.in fact, when i took my vehicle in for a state of illinois emissions test, they refused to give me the test because they said the door is a safety hazard and i would need to get the door fixed first.honda motors will not correct the problem at their expense.i learned from a website posting vehicle problems that this is a commonly occuring problem with my model car that honda refuses to correct.i was told that the age and mileage of the car makes it my responsibility.i feel this is something that should not go wrong with a car--similar to a seat belt operating properly at all times.

This was a lightly used honda given to me by my father who was original owner. Odometer reading when i was given care in 12/97 was 60,079.it could cost up to $650.00 according to honda to fix.honda would not acknowledge that this was a defect, and said mileage on vehicle was high.these are highway miles, and being unable to exit the car in an emergency is asafetyissue, i am sure.when i spoke with the local honda dealer to ask about repairs, the manager said he's done a few of them which could cost any where from 350 to $650, which led me to believe that this is a common repair on this car.now the passager door handle is breaking (basically on a thread).again this car was very lightlyused when it was given to me in 1997, and don't feel mileage has anything to do with door handle performance. Anything you can do to help with this safety issue is appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you.

Two replacement falken tires were purchased at willowbrook-ntb#7291[houston,tx] on july 7, 1998 and placed on the rear wheels. The odometer reading was 143,000 miles. The first of the two blow-outs occurred on may 17, 2000 traveling at 70mph. As the blow-out proceeded, the vehicle shook violently and was difficult to control. The tire showed no signs of a cut or puncture; but rather had come apart, leaving layers and strips of the rubber with frayed steel wires sticking out. A tire "adjustment" was reluctantly given[i had purchased road hazard protection on both of the tires.] by the nearest ntb dealer who measured the tread [which showed no abnormal wear signs] to determine the adjustment. I told him i believed it to be a defective tire, since it was different from any "blow-out" i had ever experienced. The second "blow-out" occurred on july 3, 2000 while traveling at 60mph. Again the car shook violently but this time i recognized what was happening and had a somewhat easier time bringing the car to a controlled stop. The odometer reading was 181,143 miles. The second tire had the same appearance as the first, but more of it remained intact because i was able to pull over and roll to a stop more quickly. On both days the temperatures were between 98 and 101*f. The first tire had 35,291 miles of wear and the second had 38,143 miles of wear according to my calculations. I told the ntb sales technician that i was positive that both tires were defective and someone was going to be killed if they remained in use. I asked him how to report my suspicions. He offered nothing of help but argued that the tires were not defective.( dot number: v4cbf04347 tire size: 195/60hr15 )
All 4 tires became defects after 10,000 miles. It happened one at a time and i have asked them to make sure the others were ok. 2 of t hem (front) had bulges in them, the 2 in the back had tread seperation and thankfully i felt it before it blew up. They charged me over $30 to change each one even though it was under warranty for 30,000 miles. As for the last and most recent one just a week ago, i took it to a different dealer and (firestone as well) and he told me he never sold that tire before and gave me a different one for only $15. I have called firestone and they simply didn't care and they told me it's normal to charge that much to change a tire. Those tires were selling as 4 for $99 so i'm sure others bought them and had similar problems as well. I have been awaiting to see if they get recalled but they never did. So please help me because 3 of the tires replaced were replaced with the same exact brand and type and size. I still feel the fear of something happening while i'm going at high speed on the highway. So far what was supposed to be 4 for $99 plus installation which was over $150, had cost me over $100 more for a total of more than $250 and that is while they were still under warranty. Thanks for trying to help.( dot number: ??? tire size: 185/70 r14 )
