The contact owns a 2013 honda accord crosstour. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated when it was cold started. An independent mechanic replaced the battery, but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken to johnson city honda (2806 n roan st, johnson city, tn 37601, (423) 282-5440) where it was determined that the starter could be the cause of the failure. The repair would cost approximately $725. The contact planned to have the vehicle repaired by an independent mechanic. The failure mileage was 45,000.
The starter fails to start the car. The starter throws out the pinion ,but fails to engage the fly wheel and crank the motor.starts out intermitent and steadily gets worse. I have replaced the starter 3 times, one after market refurb starter failed right out of the box. Honda has a service bulletin that documents this failure , but tell the owner to replace the starter and rotate the fly wheel on the torque convertor. This does not fix the issue. The issue is a poorly machined shaft inside the starter on which the pinion gear floats. Over time it becomes worn and the pinion gear fails to full engage the fly wheel and runs out short on the shaft in the starter. It is and engineering defect and should be correct by honda. I have felt the hang up of the pinion gear once the starter is out of the car and on a bench.

Driving to work going around a curve on the turnpike at 45 mph and the power steering went out couldnt steer went off the road missing a tree by a foot.
Takata recall... My dashboard is displaying asteering wheel symbol and that warning sign is restricting my wheel to steer properly.
While driving the power steering went out. After multiple restarts of the engine it did not work. I was able to drive it to a nearby honda dealer, with much physical effort to turn. The dealership saw the light on and ran the code, but after a later check the eps light went off. No resolution.
While driving the eps light starts flashing and i have no power steering.i pulled over and turned the car off and on many times, but it doesn't fix the problem.
Power steering failure.very hard to steer.very dangerous.eps light came on.was able to make it home.
Eps (electric power steering) light on dash lights up followed by almost total loss of steering.takes extreme amount of force to steer car when system cuts out.once car is stopped and engine switched off light will reset and power steering will return.
Loss of power assisted steering.event 1. The eps light on the dash illuminated on start, unable to exit parking space.shutting down the car and restarting it, cleared the condition.event 2. Within 15 minutes of event 1, the eps light lit and loss of power assisted steering while driving at ~30 mph on a city street.cycled the vehicle and the condition cleared again.event 3. Within 10 minutes of event 2, the symptoms of event 2 repeated.drove vehicle for 1 day without issueevent 4. On start, no power assisted steering, condition is now persistent.the root cause appears to be the electronic power steering (esp) module.verified the 70a fuse.the mechanical components operated normally between the four separate events.part estimates ~$1000,labor estimates ~ $350.no accidents or injuries in my case.that this presents itself as a random event, giving the driver an invalid sense of randomness when in reality it is a lurking failure should warrant intervention as nearly 17,000 of this model year have been sold.
Voice recognition does not work. Very intermittent . Not what i tell it . All out side sound is not interfering .stationary, parking lot empty 4:30 in morning power stayed it was offand yet music still played / have video . Taken in 3 times to dealer / nothingwrong they say
