After driving my motorhome, a 2004 holiday rambler admiral se, model wdd36 approx. Twenty miles, the vehicle began to pull hard to the right and would not accelerate and upshift properly. A burning odor was also detected. The right front wheel and tire were extremely hot to the touch as compared to the other wheels and tires.this is the third such occurance in the past year, and is consistant with symptoms related to sticking brake calipers. My vehicle chassis is a w22 made by workhorse, and is involved in recall 09v110000, service brakes hydraulic. Workhorse recall number is 50901-c, dated may 2009.workhorse covered the previous two repairs. However, they are refusing to pay for the last failure, even though the event and symptoms are identical to the previous failures. All repairs were made at an authorized workhorse repair center, bill cramer chevrolet in panama city, fl. The service manager at the dealership stated that upon inspection, the right front caliper had seized, causing the described symptoms.when the previous failure occured in june 2009, it involved the passenger side rear brake, and i experienced a complete loss of braking due to vapoization of the brake fluid. Fortunately, i was able to bring the unit to a stop without incident, which could have been catastrophic under different circumstances.workhorse had given me a timeline of oct. To nov., 2009 to effect a permanent repair of this dangerous problem. Now they are telling me they have no timeline for a permanent fix, and are refusing to pay for the interim repair, which is replacement of the affected caliper and related parts.i don't think it should require a loss of life or a serious injury to prompt workhorse to do the right thing regarding this defect and recall. I have effectively lost the use of my motorhome due to this issue. Please help those of us involved in this unfortunate and dangerous situation.
Driver noticed that the brakes had excessive pedal travel. Required an inordinate amout of pedal effort to safely stop. Pedal is spongy/soft, can be pushed to the floor when stopped.the brake pedal was applied numerous times before the vehicle could stop completely. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, andmechanic determined that it wasnormal.
