I was driving about 25mph i had my auto gear selector in 4 gear, and the exhaust brake was set on.while slowing for a traffic light it seemed as if the automatic transmission was locked into second gear. The exhaust brake was coming off and on in rapid succession. I was pushing pressure on the brakes. I shifted the auto gear selector down to 2nd and pushed the brake as hard as i could. The truck slowed to less than 5mph but the transmission would not disengage, which resulted in a slow speed rear end collision. At the point of impact my transmission disengaged. The police arrived and directed us to move our vehicles out of traffic. This time while driving a shot distance with the exhaust brake off the same condition occurred at a stop sign, luckily there was nobody in front of me and i tried pumping the brakes a few times which stopped the problem.i have yet to visit a dealer because of the holiday.it seems to me that the lock-up torque converter wouldn't release and that is why the tranny wouldn't coast as normal. At least that my guess. The tranny is an allison 3000rds.
