I own a 2003 fxstdsei,, harley davidson,, the lining inside the fuel tank began flaking off, this started around may of this year (2008). I contacted the dealer who wanted to sell me a new tank,,($1500-$2000),, unacceptable,, contacted customer service an harley corp..they said the problem was so prevalent that a remedy was included in the 05-06 touring service manual,but they would not help with the repairs ,,, if this is so prevalent,,they should fix the problem,, my bike has now been down for two weeks while i removed the tank and try to get the rest of the lining out.
