Bike stalls and stops when at a light. Also idle fluctuates between 7000 and 12000 rpms then jumps to 14000. Almost had 2 accidents with wife on the back . Nothing i could do??????????????????????????? help !please! updated 1/22/2015

Engine produces excess heat that can burn you and when hot runs erratic at idle. Especially noticble when stopped at a light and the systems gets so hot it can burn your legs. I have an older harley and this is not a problem with it

The motor cycles overheats when the outside temp rises above 80 degrees. Once it overheats the bike starts to back fire and runs ruff. Dealer has no fix for it. Bike also makes a noise when it is in 5th gear. Once again dealer has no fix for the problem. I have talked with several dealers they know about the problems but will not do anything.

2007 hd flhx purchased in sept 07.this bike has had the rocks in the can sound coming from transmission, primary or engine since new. It has completely died at highway speeds twice and had to drift off road, turn ignition switch off, then back on to restart. After 8 months of this with no satisfaction from dealer, area rep, hd customer service, their engineers even after mine and several other owners with same complaint have been tried by them to be fixed,id like an answer,a fix, orreplacement of this defective unit. My case number by them was 446-568 during their testing in january of this year. I have never been given any documentation of the testing they have done. No paper trail for this complaint.all of these complaints by myself and others have gone no where yet secretly attempted to be addressed. The moco will no longer speak with me. Replacing transmission fluid to gear oil 85/140wt is not what owners manual recommends.

The harley davisdson technician replaced fuel pump to fuel fillter hose due to a hole in the original. They replaced the original hose with a shorter hose .i looked up recalls on harley davidson and found that 2008harley havidson have a recall on that same hose.work was done at[xxx]salem harley-davidson3601 silverton rd ne salem, or 97305 503-363-0634information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

At 70 mph on my 2007 harley davidson flhx the compensator broke apart. I could hear some noise on the left side where the primary cover is. After stopping and then starting the motor back up, when i placed the transmission back in gear the primary locked up and froze everything up. If this happened while driving this could have been deadly. If you look at forums, this seams to be a problem with all of the newer harley's with the 96" motor. With mine braking the way it did, it messed up the transmission shaft as well as the main engine shaft resulting in a (estimated) $6000 repair. Please do something about this before someone get hurt. Harley knows about the problem but hasn't issued a recall.

All touring harleys from 07-10 with stock compensator sprockets seen to fail around 25,000 miles and have to be replaced do to weak diaphragm springs.

The compensator sprocket failed which destroyed the clutch basketthat sent chunks of the clutch basket into the primary chain locking up the motor instantly at 65 miles an hour luckily i've rode my entire life and didn't crash or get hit this has been an on going problem since the new primary set up was introduced harley will not take this problem seriously i guess not enough people have crashed or died

I have a 2007 harley-davidson motorcycle. The bike is one year old this past july. I have never touched any of the mechanical elements of the motorcycle and have always had my services done buy the dealer i bought the bike from. (harley-davidson of ocean county). I was traveling east on highway 37 on tuesday evening 29 july 2008. I was cut off by a driver in a car entering my lane from the left side. I began to brake hard. The car missed me but as it got in front of me it slammed on the brakes to make an immediate right turn. I was on the brakes hard trying to stop and still maintain control of the motorcycle. At this time the handle bars of the motorcycle rotated downward around the gas tank of the motorcycle and i could not steer the motorcycle left or right. I smashed my face unto the front fairing and was able to get the bike to a stop without dumping it or hitting the car. The steering mechanism of a motorcycle or any vehicle should not fail during braking. This incident only cost me a fat lip and the scare of my life as well as a motorcycle that i no longer can depend on for my safety. I contacted harley-davidson of ocean county and talked to noreen the general manager there about the incident. She said "bring the bike in and we will tighten the handle bars for you". I told her i would not ride the motorcycle in the condition it is in. She said she would contact the service department and they would give me a call. Not once did she ask about my well being or the particulars of the incident. She also said there have been several incidence of the handle bars rotating and she felt it was due to high adrenaline in the heat of the moment. That is absolute bs to me. The handle bars of a motorcycle should not move in the riser under any circumstance. I am still waiting for the service manager to contact me.
