Had an accident in 2018 air bags did not deploy and when tried to stop and pushed on my brake pedal, it was like it froze and i was still moving.i was driving 37mph on a city street when the accident happened.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving 20 mph, the front driver side wheel and axle fractured and caused the contact's vehicle to crash into a parked vehicle. The contact stated that the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a fractured finger and cerebral hemorrhaging, which required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not repaired. The vin and failure mileage were unavailable.
I was involved in a collision where my vehicle ended up in a ditch and hit a cement culvert head on. The steering wheel airbag didn't deploy. All airbags along the sides of the vehicle did, but neither front were activated. Although i didn't have a passenger in the vehicle, there were other items in the seat that were quite heavy.
My new, 2015 gmc denali is equipped with a backup camera and the quality is so poor at night, as to make it nearly more dangerous to use than to ignore it.i have had 3 prior gmc denali automobiles.the most recent was a 2011 which was traded in for this new one. The quality of the backup camera in the 2011 model was excellent. My wife and i immediately noted on the new car that the camera image was so blurry and poor resolution at night, we could not safely use the camera to back out of our gated driveway.in the daytime, the image is blurry as well, but usable.gmc has had the car twice for service and we have complained to gmc corporate and all we get is a statement that the "system is working normally" which is difficult to accept.the nhtsa's own statistics show that each year approx. 20 people die and 15,000 are injured due to backup incidents. Their guidelines state a camera needs to display (clearly i would assume) a 10 x 20 foot zone behind the vehicle.at night, you cannot see 20 feet clearly behind this vehicle, even in a well lighted street.i am convinced that this poor quality system is going to cause accidents if it has not done so already. Gmc has an obligation to address what i believe is a sub-standard quality image.they cannot defend the fact that the image is much worse than older models of their vehicles.fortunately, the new denali model does have a sensor system that provides a vibratory warning if you are about to contact an object, but obviously the driver needs to see clearly behind them, before they are about to strike an object in their path.i am hoping your agency can contact gmc to help motivate them to address this issue and improve the safety of their vehicle(s) before the defect contributes to an unnecessary injury or death. In the meantime, we do not use the screen image at night. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while reversing, the vehicle stalled without warning on two separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing on six separate occasions. The cause of the failure could not be determined. On another occasion, the contact was reversing and the vehicle stalled causing the contact to crash into a vehicle parked near the rear of the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,000.updated 11/18/15*ljthe consumer stated the vehicle also had numerous other electrical issues. Some of the issues caused the vehicle to shut down or reverse.updated 1/12/2016 updated 01/29/16.
Onstar/ gps antenna electrical short and corrosion. Seal on antenna cover incorrectly installed/ defective.
I have a brand new 2015 yukon denali (short wheel base) with less than a thousand miles and a "service 4wd" message that has appeared twice rendering the car extremely unsafe and un-drivable for a long distance and having to have it towed to the dealer twice.a software update was done on the car the first time, only resolved the issue for a few weeks, the issue re-occurred after 3 weeks. When turning the vehicle on the dash gives the message "service 4wd". The car has a transmission button to change from 2wd, auto, 4 high and 4 low. I do not touch this button, i just leave the car in auto and drive. I do not tow anything, this is just a family car used for commuting.when the "service 4wd' message appears, the car is barely drivable. When it is put in reverse, the car just brakes after a few feet, as if the parking brake were on, but it obvious is not engaged.when turning left or right, the car brakes mid-turn and will only complete the turn if 3/4 to full accelerator is applied to continue through the turn.the car slightly bucks through the turn and the engine sounds different and has little power going around corners and going up hills.the car cannot safely be driven in a straight line faster than 40-50 mph. I telephoned onstar and diagnostics were run during both occurrences with the same error message from onstar diagnostics: "the braking system has an issue- transfer case module not working as expected". When will gm issue a recall on this safety issue, i do not feel safe letting my wife and child in the car if it brakes by itself, loses power and cannot complete turns.i purchased this car to have a safe/large vehicle for my family: service 4wd appears on screen it renders the car un-drivable and the transmission button becomes inoperable and selecting other transmission modes becomes not possible.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving 35 mph, all the warning lights illuminated and the four wheel drive low independently activated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the body control module needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the body control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000. The vin was unavailable.
All led lights have went out on right side, as well as break lights.this is a know issue to gmc, and yet they will not correct it.my quote to have it fixed was 2493.00 from local dealership.that is crazy. Led lights should last a whole lot longer than this. Also condensation is in the front headlight with no holes or cracks.if this happens with house windows, they are replaced by the manufacturer.there are so many complaints, i will also be contacting the better business bureau.gmc knows there is a problem with these models.
Rear tail lights not working.both tail lights require replacement.there is an open recall for 2016 gmc yukon's why is there not an open recall for 2015?this is obviously an issue based on the number of complaints made / reported here.
Defective tail lights and headlights.
The rear taillight works intermittently.i have reported it to the dealership and the only fix is to replace the housing unit at $1500.it has been reported and is a known problem with gmc.
We own a 2015 gmc yukon with only 51,000 miles on it.the rear taillights are both intermittent.sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.i recently took the vehicle into the dealership for service and they said replacement of the entire light was the only way to fix the issue.they acknowledged that this is a known issue and that they have serviced many vehicles with the same issue.the service person advised that there is a circuit that over time breaks and the connection becomes loose.when the metal touches and a complete circuit is made, the light will turn on.when it doesn't touch (faulty), the taillight and brake lights will not illuminate.this is a major safety hazard.a simple internet search shows that this issue is very common and gm doesn't appear to be doing anything to address it.because it involves the brake lights, this is very concerning.not to mention, that a replacement is $800.i have already spent $800 for one side, now the other side is out as well.i feel that this should be a recall issue since it's an obvious safety issue that is caused by faulty parts.here is just one of the links that describe this issue in detail:https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t53845_ds768963
Both brake lights went out.dealer said had to replace entire fixture. Not covered under bumper to bumper extended warranty purchased.safety hazard that many other 2015 yukon owners have experienced.trim/seal appliqus around door windows also coming off and also not co weed under b2b warranty.shottily made vehicle.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the passenger side tail light failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taking to walker buick gmc (1616 macarthur dr, alexandria, la 71301 (318) 542-7481) where the contact was informed that pig tail wiring was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was not a recall on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 55,000.
Both led tail light fixtures went out at once, both non functioning. Have to replace both fixtures costing over $1400 from a gm dealership.
The most disturbing concern is the fact that i lost my brakes as a result of a known problem that gm has even recognized relating to a faulty vacuum booster pump.i incurred a $500 repair bill despite gm's acknowledgement of the problem and willingness to pay for cars with less than 70000 miles.unfortunately, mine was over the allowable mileage.additionally, i am looking at a $1500 repair bill for a sealed headlight replacement and another $300 bill for a side detection system ( lane departure warning).gm made a poor car that is unsafe and is not properly addressing the problem.
The vehicle is a 7 passenger 2015 gmc yuken vehicle.both rear tail light assemblies had to be replaced at a cost of $500.00 each.the entire lighting assembly including brake light failed. The operator is never made aware by the vehicle warning system that the vehicle's brake or tail lights are not functioning.the only way the hazard is identified is if another operator notifies the owner.being that the vehicle is a 7 passenger and usually carrying children are in the third rowthis is very dangerous. A rear end collision due to no lights or brake lights is very possible.i contacted gmc and they are aware of the led lights failing however due to the fact that there is no recall they will not pay for the new led lights.does it have to take a vehicle being rear ended and a child injured or killed to have these vehicles recalled?this issue is all over the internet, one has to type gmc led light failure and thousands of people are complaining
There seems to be a problem with the tail light assemblies on the yukon product.the tail light will stop working and it will not give a warning that it has gone out.the assembly is $600 to replace and we have had to replace both.i am worried that they will fail again and i will be forced to replace them again.i have been watching other vehicles like mine and have noticed that other vehicles suffer the same problem.in small talk with the dealer, the service advisors acknowledged that it is a problem and even mentioned another model that had lights that were even more expensive.
Wiring to radiator fan caught on fire. I was driving the car when i smelled smoke. When i pulled over smoke was coming from the hood i opened the hood and there was open flames on thefan wiring wiring.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v761000 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes, electronic stability control). The vehicle was taken to the keller motors located at (700 cadillac ln, hanford, ca 93230) where the computer was reprogrammed. The contact stated that after the reprogramming, the brake lights started to work intermittently. The vehicle also stalled with several warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the seatbelt unbuckled and open or close driver's window warning lights were illuminated. The contact was informed by the dealer that the reprogramming was not the cause of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
Car was parked in front of our house and combusted in the middle of the night while we were sleeping.car was exploding and engulfed in flames...completely destroyed via fire and the worst damage was in the engine compartment.cause of the fire is unknown although based on research sounds like nhtsa campaign #14v007000 or 14v152000.fire department extinguished the fire and police were on the scene.
The tail lights flicker and sometimes don't work at all.
Both brake lights failed within weeks of each other - around 60k miles.faulty led circuit boards.light assemblies are not repairable by dealership.new assembly over $500 each. Gm takes no responsibility in resolving the issue.unacceptable!no more gms for my family! .. And that includes chevy.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the vent control function suddenly failed to work, which prevented the air conditioning and heat from working. The dealer (sunrise buick gmc chevrolet at collierville, 4605 s houston levee rd, collierville, tn 38017, (888) 484-2878) inspected the vehicle and stated that the condenser failed and the part was on a national backorder. The dealer stated that the condenser was engineered incorrectly and shook and rattled, which caused a crack that split the condenser. The contact stated that the manufacturer only provided a warranty extension from 36,000 to 60,000 miles, but had not issued a recall to provide a remedy. The contact corresponded with the manufacturer by email and phone and was informed that they would provide a follow-up response. The contact had been waiting for a response for months. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Rear tail lights cut in and out. Work on and off and have faulty parts.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that there was an intermittent electrical failure that caused the rear tail lights to short out. In addition, on several occasions, other motorists alerted the contact that either one or both tail lights were out. Gettel chevrolet buick gmc (1901 tamiami trail, punta gorda, fl 33950, (941) 347-6817) was notified, but could not duplicate the failure. The failure continued intermittently. The contact purchased the vehicle from vision buick gmc (800 panorama trail s, rochester, ny 14625, (585) 200-3905) and they scheduled an appointment for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer had not issued an electrical system recall to provide a permanent remedy. The manufacturer provided a case number and was to follow-up with the dealer and the contact. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
The rear righttail light don't work properly has an intermittent problem sometimes work sometime don't. Dealer told me can't be cover under warranty, because was expired. I'm afraid may both tail light stop working and get rear ended. Gmc should do something, because is they problems i saw on those suv
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. Shortly after the contact purchased the vehicle, there was an electrical failure and the radio failed to function. The dealer (penske buick gmc of cerritos, 17720 crusader ave, cerritos, ca 90703, (877) 886-6265) replaced the radio with a warranty; however, the failure continued. Also, the vent controls failed for the air conditioner and heater. While making a left turn and a u turn, the steering wheel seized several times. The dealer indicated that they serviced the vehicle per nhtsa campaign number: 18v586000 (steering) and was aware that the recall remedy failed. The condition progressed to the point that the vehicle began to stall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the multiple failures. The failure mileage was not available.
Rear taillight does not work. Searched online and found that this is a very common issue, gm refuses to fix and tries to charge $800 to replace whole tail light assembly, and they replace with same faulty lights! fix it gmc, ridiculous
Rear faulty brake lights both sides. Quoted 1800 to replace. With a quick search for replacement/fix options i found a single individual that has repaired over 2000 of them. There are many more out there. This seems to be an issue with a high percentage of this make and model and gm acknowledged it by replacing the cope the 2 years later but has refused to recall this. It's an absolute safety hazard that seems to be ignored by gm
Both taillights intermittently stop working.
Brake lights will intermittently stop working. No consistency to when they stop working or when they start again. Major saftey hazard. Gmc knows about the problem but are calling it an extended warranty issue, and not fixing vehicles outside their designated time/mileage because they say it is not a safety hazard...' it is!!!
The rear power locks are inoperative at times- when using the keyless entry and the master switch. Owner is having to reach to the back seat to open the back doors with the back door locks to allow passengers (children) out of the vehicle. In an emergency situation, the back seat passengers are not going to be able to get out on their own, or be able to get out quickly with assistance. This also makes the child lock function unusable as the back doors would never open.
My taillight stoped working. When i turn my headlights on it wont turn on or when i apply my brakes. I searched the internet(facebook and fourm sites) and found thousand and thousand of people having the same issues. The brake light/running light is not a light bulb like most cars that you can just replace when it goes out. Its led.so you have to replace the whole entire light assembly and it was over $800. Led are supposed to have a long life before they go out.... This is only a 2015 i mean come on. So i had to drive in the dark and during this rain storm on freeway and regular streets with no brake or running lights which i s extremely dangerous. This is a family vehicle i drive my kids in this car. This cant keep happening. I also read that multiple people said once they bought a new assembly it went out again and stopped working down the road. This is insane.
Tail light led stopped working.connection failed
Both left and right tail lights defective due to internal cracks in the circuit board
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving 65 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the brake lights, tail lights, and the interior rear brake light flickered. The vehicle was taken to delano chevrolet buick gmc (600 1st ave, delano, ca 93215, 661-735-4974) to be diagnosed and repaired. The diagnosis results were unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
When using steering to turn around, turn into a parking space or back in, 'parking assist off' show up on the instrument panel, then the steering wheels locks and the car turns off while still engaged in drive. Sometimes 'brake assist' comes on first. Extremely dangerous. When this happens, unable to turn steering wheel. Car shuts down and doors lock. I have to put it in park and restart the car. Sometimes it does it more than once after restarting the car.i have taken it to a gmc dealer for evaluation and repair. Has happened at least 6 different times. When driving, i am always afraid to make sharp turns. However, it has only happened at slow speeds when trying to turn in to a driveway or turn around such as in a parking lot. *dtconsumer stated after taking my car to gmc dealer and being told my vehicle needed a sortware update, my car went a few weeks without an episode until this evening at 7:52pm eastern time, while backing in to my driveway. The steering wheel kicked in place and the vehicle turned off and doors locked, leaving me out in the street, unable to control my car for seconds. Updated 10/18/18updated 10/26/18
Rear brake light assembly failing to light when brakes applied and there is not a notification to the driver.this is a manufacture flaw with the led light circuit inside the assembly.there is not a light out notification so the driver is not aware the brake light has failed.this is a safety issue and is an well known issue on the 2015-2019 yukon. This is occurring often and gmc is having problems with supplying replacements because the demand is so high from the failure. Gmc has also raised the price of the brake light by 30% from $425 to $675 not including labor. I called the dealer and they informed it was a high failing item and was on backorder and not sure when they would get one. Driving the vehicle without proper brake lights is a safety concern and not legal so left with little option but to stop driving the yukon.
Both rear tail lights are inoperable and the dealer wants over $800 to replace.i'm over the mileage limit for the recall so i'm out of luck.
Rear led taillights intermittently fail due to weak circuit bridge design
Drivers side tail light intermittently works, doesn't work all the time. Passenger side brake light stays on continuously, never changes.
I was driving down the road and someone clearly (due to the loud screeching of the tires) almost rear ended me. Thankfully they were able to stop just before hitting my vehicle. He caught me at a stop light and informed me that both of my brake lights were out unbeknownst to me. I have since taken the vehicle to the dealership, but there is an issue with the brake light system/parts for this vehicle. The brake light will work sporadically (without any knowledge of an issue). The manufacturer had to have known there was an issue with this part due to the owner's manual even stating "contact gmc dealership" without giving any troubleshooting advise on the light. The part is ~$650 to replace, both of my brake/tail lights have gone out within a 3 week period of each other and the dealership didn't seem surprised at all of this issue.
Brake lights tail lights quit working
Our 2015 yukon xl denali has been in for repair service for 41 days since purchased new 3/23/15.the car has stalled while in motion with my wife and three daughters in the vehicle twice and been unresponsive to throttle input 3 additional times.the stall occurred once while turning left across traffic and another time while turning right and merging with traffic!the problem is intermittent and gmc has never been able to replicate it.they have given us the shoulder shrug, "i don't know what to tell you, we can't replicate it" line, so here are your keys.no warning indicators, no signs it may happen, and no way to pull up the issue with their diagnostics...huge safety concern and each time they have handed us the keys back after 7 days (their standard allotted time to have a loaner out) without any proactive escalation to find root cause or concern for my family's safety.the last time we took it in, they had it for 8 days and could not replicate the issue.we signed our service paperwork and i escalated to the service manager before leaving.after telling him we would be pursuing buyback, he miraculously had an idea it may be related to a wiring harness issue.this was based off his experience with a sierra pickup (5.3l, not our 6.2l) that had similar behavior.we left the vehicle and, wouldn't you know it, they replaced a wire and "have reasonable confidence" it resolved the issue.two weeks later, it's back in the shop for key fob not detected (after already driving). Truck is in gear and you cannot move...another huge safety concern. It's a dud.we have also had to have all 8 injectors replaced due to rough idling and the steering gear replaced from faulty manufacturing that creates a clicking while turning the wheel, the car is at the dealer and we will not be taking it back.we are going through the offical buy-back process with gmc.
Headlights and brake lights quit working
Rear tail lamp at brake light work intermittently. It is known that the circuitry connecting the leds break.
Right rear led tail/brake light stopped working. Not easily fixable. Dealers are aware of the problem and make you pay $700+ a piece for a whole new assembly. The issue appears to be a faulty circuit board inside. This should be something that can be taken apart and fixed easily or gm should replace it for free.
Brake lights intermittently do not illuminate
Within the last year on my 2015 my ac compressor has gone out, radio screen quit working, brake pump/booster faulty, and now rear brake light quit working. All seem to be very common in this year model. My car has less than 70000 miles on it!! gm is either doing a crappy job on their $60000 vehicles or a recall needs to be done.
I have had an on-going issue with the steering, electrical and power steering and stability control.i have had repeated issues with the stability control turning off, sudden drop in electrical power, the steering wheel gets violently yanked out of your hands and sometime the car completely cuts off.fortunately most have been at slow speeds or else the car would have flipped.it is the exact same issue other models have been recalled for but my vin is not included in that recall.i am afraid of this issue killing me or my loved ones should it happen at speed or leave us stuck in front of on coming traffic.according to my dealer this is an issue the manufacture has know about for a while.
The taillights will short out and stop working. The true signal works but the brake and running lights stop working. The touchscreen display isn't working on some parts of the screen. For example, i cannot change the time because the toggles to change the numbers up or down will not work.
Had right brake light replaced in warranty. The left rear is now out. This is a driving safety issue fm should be responsible for
Door latch in the locked position while door is open. Car computer thought the door was closed and door was open. Happened two times in one day. Very serious problem is driver is allowed to drive with children in the back seat with no warning that the door did not close.
I can turn the steering wheel side to sideand the car dies power goes low air conditioning fans blow less and get warnings on dash to roll down drivers window and then back up
Tail light malfunction intermittently.the tail lights and brake lights occasionally will go out and come back on randomly.gmc knows about the issue and replacements cost about $750 per unit which even these replacements have been known to fail within a year.the fact that this happens randomly and so intermittently this becomes a safety issue.i've had it in the shop and they said nothing was wrong because they were both working.i get home and they are not.is there a way to have gmc replace these via a safety recall?
Driver side brake light is intermittently working.have seen many complaints for this, seems to be poor design and should be recalled.
Rear taillight randomly going on and off. Interior light randomly flicker, theft deterrent system often activates, vehicle dash systems randomly reset and most recently vehicle steering wheel locked and car turned off while i was driving with my kids in the car and in a school zone!!!!! this could have been tragic and was very scary!!!!
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the brake light failed to illuminate when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact received a customer satisfaction program regarding the brake light. The contact was informed that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 18v586000 (steering) and 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic). Stanley wood chevrolet buick gmc (1674 batesville blvd, batesville, ar 72501, (870) 390-4093) was contacted and an appointment was scheduled to have the vehicle repaired under the recalls. The contact was also informed that the mileage was exceeded under the customer satisfaction program. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000.
So my brake light on rear all have gone out due to bad led lights or some known component goes bad.#2. Fuel pump is bad.#3radiator has a crack in it.this is a 2015 yukon
The right rear brake light and running light has gone out.appears to be a common problem.you can't replace the bulb like older cars.you need to replace the whole brake assembly for $700!!!gm knows about the common issue but is not covering it.
Rear tail light not working
I just completed a claim for my 2015 yukon denali, nhtsa id #: 10643049 and read that almost the same exact issues are going on with the 2015 chevy tahoe models, see: nhtsa id number: 10638437, 10633519 and 10631583. When will gm see there is a pattern and issue a recall for this transmission issue? in all cases these render the calls un-drivable and having to have them towed.
The vehicle's tail light assembly on both the drivers and passenger's sides are defective.the solder does not hold and the vehicle's brake lights and running lights fail intermittently. The driver is totally unaware of this major issue that the brake lights are not working.in researching this problem on the internet there are numerous customers of gmc's yukon's and denali's who are experiencing the safety problem.i realized the problem when another motorist almost struck the back of my vehicle because there were not brake lights at all. The vehicle was traveling and both brake lights failed.the signal lights will still work.
Tail light lighting strip spontaneously malfunctioned and stopped working. Vehicle has no light and no brake lighting which could have resulted in auto accident. Within a month the headlight has burned out resulting in a blinker malfunction. Vehicle was on highway when both lights malfunctioned
Brake light goes out due to wiring issues.
Tail light has been flickering for months and now is out. Gmc will not fix because i am 4 months out of warranty. I only have 18,000 miles on my yukon.
Tail lamps would intermittently operate. At times none would work at others some would work. And others all would work. Gmc finally addresses this with: n182180270 (special coverage). Gmc was aware of this issue on or prior to november 26, 2019. They stated notifications to customers would begin on december 12, 2019. I was notified today 2-12-2020 well after gmc was aware of issues. Gmc allows for warranty of 6 years after placed in service or 72,000 miles. Since my vehicle had 902 miles at time of purchase my warranty expired at 72,902 miles. Had gmc made me aware in december or too after knowing in late nov 2019 i would still have been under warranty for a resolution to fix issues. There willful negligence in failing to notify me hindered their available warranty under special coverage of no use to me to my detriment of several hundred dollars (~$1800 usd).
2015 yukon passenger led tail light has failed.vehicle is only 3 years old, and in addition to the tail light failure, have had 3 air conditioning system failures to date.i don't know how long the tail light has been inoperable as there was no warning or indicator to notify the driver of a tail light problem.i only discovered this problem while following my wife in another vehicle as she was driving the yukon.looking at the complaints lodged on both issues, i'm beginning to seriously question gm's reliability and willingness to stand behind their vehicle and parts.always thought leds were more reliable, but looking at the number of complaints lodged, my assumptions are apparently wrong.a simple google search on yukon tail light repair also shows a cottage industry in repairing these led tail lights has popped up, which indicates a significant problem with the design and reliability of these tail lights. If these businesses advertise a lifetime warranty on their repairs, why can't gm make the necessary modifications to their tail lights to improve their reliability.any reasonable search shows the magnitude of this issue, so why hasn't there been a recall issued for this problem.with no notification to the driver of the vehicle of a tail light issue, this would seem to me to be a significant safety hazard that could result in accidents and or injuries/fatalities from one or both tail light failures.if leds are less reliable than the older incandescent bulbs, then go back to the older style bulbs that a vehicle owner can replace for a few dollars instead of forcing owners to have the dealership replace the tail lights every few years at $600-$750 per instance.very concerning and unsafe.gm needs to address this issue immediately.
Passenger side brake and tail led strip light short and goes out and stops working. Will work sometimes when back hatch shuts and jars it or i hit a bump. Dealership says light it out and needs replacing. Not sure why the light still comes on when jarred. Have extended warranty that was supposed to cover all this especially being electrical. Seems to be on going problem
The door lock actuator works intermediately. I can't always unlock or lock the door with the key fob and there is not a manual entry.
Component affected: stabilitrac modulecause: a power short in the electrical wiring harness inside the steering wheel column caused the stabilitrac (stability control) module to malfunction. Unsafe condition: the steering wheel would turn a full 180 degrees on its own at idle/low speed.at higher speeds, the car would pull to the left or right. The "service stabilitrac" light would activate on the dash and message displayed"stabilitrac disabled".remedy: the steering wheel wiring harness was repaired and the stabilitrac module was replaced by my gmc dealership in the summer of 2017, the issue has not occurred since.
The new 2015 vehicle freezes up in full time 4wd mode and will not shift out.the dealer indicates that it is a "known problem by gm" and that they are "working on it". Their fix at this point is to have yourun the vehicle in 2wd mode which is an obvious safety issue during our winter months as it is then a rear wheel drive vehicle being driven on icy roads.the other fix is to run it in 4wd mode but turn it into 2wd mode every time you turn the vehicle off. Obviously, many drivers will forget to do this and therefore my family at times is just running it in 2wd mode thereby incurring a risky driving situation.despite numerous discussion, i have not been able to get any information on when the vehicle will be fixed.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving at an unknown speed, the abs and brake warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to buick gmc of kirkland (12335 120th ave ne, kirkland, wa 98034, (877) 505-6211) where it was diagnosed that the front driver and passenger side wheel speed sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v761000 (electronic stability control, service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000. *dt
The electric power steering assist may fail momentarily and then suddenly function again. This can cause difficulty steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds, increasing risk of a crash.although there is a recall which describes exactly what is happening recall 18v586000 the dealer says there is no recall for my vehicle at low speeds when i back up or turn i lose power momentarily then it comes back
Engine shuts off, steering assist disappears and steering wheel is jerked out of my hand, stabilitrak warnings on dash, hvac screen goes blank, chimes start going off. This occurred as i was pulling into a parking lot and i almost hit another car. The vehicle was moving at no more than 10mph.
When sitting at a light, or stop sign vehicle acts as if it wants to cut off, check engine light is flashing, when i'm driving vehicle the check engine light stays lit. I did a scan of the vehicle and the code i got was p0303 which is for a cylinder 3 misfire. I have changed out the spark plugs and wires, also the ignition coil. I changed out the fuel injector for cylinder 3 and also the fuel pump actuator. Its still shaking, don't know what the problem is but i hope you guys can come up with what i need to do next. I've had to spend money out of pocket for this because its not under warranty.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While at a traffic light or stop sign with the brake pedal engaged, the vehicle would shake and idle highly. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to dick norris buick gmc clearwater (18200 us hwy 19 north, clearwater, fl, (727-536-1967) and the motor mounts were replaced three times, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times and the motor mounts were adjusted and the transmission mounts were replaced; however, the vehicle continued to idle highly and shake while stopped. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.
When the car is at idle in drive it becomes very rough (fluctuates up and down). This happens on and off and i have no check engine light on.sometimes the car even feels like it is going to stall out.i have had it into the dealer and they admitted they feel it as well.they tried adjusting the motor mounts and that did not do it.after having in the dealer for several days they called me and said they can't find the issue.they told me they went into another 2015 gmc yukon sle and started feeling the same issue.it was stated to me i might have to wait for more complaints on the vehicle to get to the root of the issue.it continues to idle roughly and i want to get this resolved.
My yukon has a leaking radiator which is a known defect not just in yukons, but also in tahoes, silverados, suburbans and other vehicles.gm refuses to cover the repair for all trucks, only certain ones.i'm not sure what the criteria they are using is...but it is the same defect affecting all of the vehicles.
Our vehicle has a significant vibration in v4 mode when traveling between 45-65 mph and above.the vibration is also accompanied by increased cabin pressure.these issues are causing headaches, nausea, dizziness, and are further exacerbating my wife's multiple sclerosis. We also have a popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle's suspension when turning that makes us feel unsafe.the vibration started right after we took delivery of the car and has only gotten worse.we bought the car in april 2015 and the issue continues unfixed to this day.the popping noise started about 3-4 weeks ago and it sounds like a suspension component.our ac recirculating feature also does not work and it allows harmful exhaust smoke in.
I have a 2015 yukon denali and i was driving 65 on the highway and the engine shut down completely.a warning message said engine power failure.i had 4 cars and an 18 wheeler behind me at the time.i managed to put the vehicle in neutral and coast to the side of the road onto a median.it was towed to the dealership where they started trying say it might have been bad gas.then i was told i cracked valve and they already had one other just like this, then 1 day later after a tech level 2 and a shop forum looked at it, and a conversation with a gm pac rep, gm approved a complete engine replacement!i was shocked.i've had the same 4-wheel drive issues everyone else has.i've also had a/c problems, steer wheel popping noises, sunroof loud wind noises.my seat shifts when i drive it.the a/c seats don't cool properly, which i found out when they put me in a loaner yukon that worked fine. The speedometer gauge also didn't work for 2 days, which i have a picture of and received a warning ticket for when i was pulled over by an officer not knowing what speed i was going.i passenger step guard doesn't always retract properly.my unit was purchase may 2014 and was one of the first 4 x 4 units that was produced and has had constant problems.gm keeps denying a buyback, then no trade assistance, then now has offered an extended warranty.this particular vehicle i have is not safe for my family to be riding in.i can't trade it in or sell it to anyone else knowing the problems it has.the dealer won't even take it because they know the problem that they are dealing with.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the rpm went up and the vehicle stopped without warning. The vehicle was taken to the charlie o' baugh rv located at (382 lee jackson hwy, staunton, va 24401). The vehicle was not diagnosed because the technician was unavailable. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000. The vin was not available.
I am writing to notify you about a problem with the transmission in 2015 gmc yukon xl.gm is aware of a problem. They issued an internal notice to dealers in february 2016. However, they have not notified to owners in the form of a recall.on several occasions, my vehicle jumped forward, while driving in the city, when it was stopped, in drive, with brake engaged. I reported transmission problems to my local dealer but they repeatedly ignored my concerns. They kept giving excuses that didn't make sense. I finally pressed on, refused to take my vehicle back and reported the problem to several executives. The problem was finally diagnosed under different conditions as stated in the first internal document in march 2016. There was a problem with the transmission. They finally replaced the transmission for "one that didn't have a problem". Gm admitted there are problems with transmissions and the problem has been corrected in newer vehicles. They have yet to issue a notice to current owners that their vehicles are at risk.i owned a 2015 gmc yukon xl but chose to sell it over safety concerns and lack of appropriate response from gm corporate. With 2 young children, i spend a lot of time around schools (like most owners of large gm vehicles). I could have injured or killed someone. I feel it is my obligation to bring this situation to your attention. If you intervene, you can help to avoid any injuries in the future. It is clear that gm will not voluntarily protect the public.
I can turn the steering wheel side to sideand the car dies power goes low air conditioning fans blow less and get warnings on dash to roll down drivers window and then back up
Engine shuts off, steering assist disappears and steering wheel is jerked out of my hand, stabilitrak warnings on dash, hvac screen goes blank, chimes start going off. This occurred as i was pulling into a parking lot and i almost hit another car. The vehicle was moving at no more than 10mph.
Lifter issues causing engine damage at 80,000 miles.
2015 gmc yukon - replaced the bad condenser!very costly, part was on backorder for 2 months so obviously there are a large amount of others having the same issues.this is considered safety issues due to the heat in the south and we paid $65,000 for a vehicle which 2 years later now has a bad condenser - an additional $1,000.i'm done with gmc.i feel like we have been treated poorly and this part should be recalled immediately.you are a billion dollar industry, if you want to keep people coming back you make it right with your customers.i want to be reimbursed for my entire bill i'm about to pay.i am so disappointed, i have always always been a gmc/chevrolet person but this has truly made me sick to know that my family forked out $1,000 for your mistake!come on it's a $65,000 vehicle...very very very angry.please feel free to contact me regarding our bill and how you will attempt to provide amazing customer service to make this right.[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
2015 gmc yukon. Consumer writes in regards to engine failure while driving. *ld
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle started to vibrate abnormally. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 120,058.
2015 gmc yukon sle. Consumer writes in regards to pressure booming sensationwhile driving vehicle. *ld
Onstar/ gps antenna electrical short and corrosion. Seal on antenna cover incorrectly installed/ defective.
Vehicle has a terrible vibration.has been to dealer 7 times, for a total of 4 weeks.a gm engineer has looked at it twice. They have replaced ring/pinion, driveshaft, axle .. Tried it with 4 sets of tires/wheels.last idea was to replace shocks, struts, sway bars with hand built parts, cut brackets off car and weld new brackets on.when liability was brought up, they changed their story. There is a larger issue as was relayed by engineer to service manager at dealership.issue is with all 2015 tahoe, yukon, escalades.in an effort to prevent roll overs, they designed the frame and body mounts too stiff.there are 40 engineers working on issues, they have no solutions that work across the board.according to engineer, gm is keeping an eye on how many units they have to buy back, or trade for ... If number is low enough, they will not make any changes to design. I would like to schedule a meeting next week to discuss this issue and the larger issue in person.since they are refusing to buy back my vehicle, i am turning matter over to attorney.
Driver tail light works inconsistently
Rear faulty brake lights both sides. Quoted 1800 to replace. With a quick search for replacement/fix options i found a single individual that has repaired over 2000 of them. There are many more out there. This seems to be an issue with a high percentage of this make and model and gm acknowledged it by replacing the cope the 2 years later but has refused to recall this. It's an absolute safety hazard that seems to be ignored by gm
2015 brake light works intermittently
Driver side left brake light led poor quality, failed.turn signal works, brake light doesn't.leds are supposed to last longer than incandescent bulbs (and at the expensive price of $500+ to fix this each time it goes out people will be less apt to fix), but this is apparently a widespread problem from looking into it.there was no catalyst that set the problem off, just failed on its own.
The right rear brake light and running light has gone out.appears to be a common problem.you can't replace the bulb like older cars.you need to replace the whole brake assembly for $700!!!gm knows about the common issue but is not covering it.
For the past 6 months i had been getting reports that my passenger side tail light wasn't working- when we checked it it was... Finally someone told me it goes on and off. My yukon was going into the dealership for the power steering recall and i asked them to check. They replaced the whole light at $800!!! a quick internet search shows this is a common problem.
First, passenger side tail light was going on and off. Sometimes the whole panel would not turn on. Then, a few weeks later the other tail light started doing the same thing and now both brake lights do not come on. They will sporadically start working again ever so often.
The passenger side brake light will not illuminate. I'mnot exactly sure when it began, when i first found out it would sometimes work and sometimes not, now it has be staying completely off.
Takata recall i believe that the tail light system of gmc yukons 2015 and any other year that share the same lighting system need to be recalled and fixed. My entire rear lighting system went out and i did not know it until someone started honking the horn at me and told me i had no lights. Sometimes my lights work and sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time it is only one light. We looked online for other people having this issue and it seems like many people have this same issue and the problem of it is a defect where a piece inside the light breaks and causes connection issues. I have seen (on youtube) many people fixing the issue by sauntering it together. This could be very dangerous. Driving without any lights. It is also very costly to buy new lights that will eventually do the same thing. The issue happens all the time once it starts. The only time my rear lights work 100 percent of the time now is when it is cold outside. I have been told it is because the cold causes the plastic to swell and it must connect the piece inside the light .
Led circuit board fail. Dealership will fix for over $2000 with the old faulty parts instead of the new parts. Hundreds of people have had this same issue and it needs to be addressed.
Both brake lights work intermittently.if you tap hard on it they sometimes come back on but don't stay on.i took to gmc dealer where they informed me they've had a dozen yukon's in recently with the same issue.dealer indicated issue is faulty circuit board that overheats causing the lights to short out.i'm out of manufacturers warranty.extended warranty does not cover lights.dealer charges $800 per light (part only).
This is the second taillight to fail. The passenger side failed at 35,500 miles in october 2018. The driver side has now failed at 39,000 miles and 4 months later. These parts cost $800 each to replace. A major repair cost on a vehicle with only this much mileage. A design problem obviously exists and this problem is a safety hazard!!! just waiting for a crash to happen to start a class action law suite.
Rear tail light is no longer working.lights are led, so the entire tail light needs to be replaced.
Driver side rear brake light working intermittently, approx. 10% of the time. Called dealership and said it is known issue with most denali brake lights. Was quoted to replace entire assembly $900. Each side for this known safety issue. This is a serious safety issue and known by gmc with no recalls available.
Left rear tail light quit working, i was able to break the cover off and soldered the led mounting strip,. Right side quit working so i broke the cover off but this time it was severely damaged.soldered it.left side quit working again so i replaced both sides with aftermarket units.date below is just to fill the space.it was after warranty expired and over about 6 months time.
Driver side rear tail gave out twice and dealership or gmc won't over with. The dealership them self said it was faulty and they been having lots of problems with there inventory
The rear taillight works intermittently.i have reported it to the dealership and the only fix is to replace the housing unit at $1500.it has been reported and is a known problem with gmc.
Tail and brake lights failed. Upon inspection it was found that the conductive plate between the leds had cracked/broken in both assemblies.
Tail/brake lights failed causing a safety concern.took vehicle in to gmc dealer for repair.left tail light (actually the entire printed circuit board) was replaced, right is on back order. Vehicle out of factory warranty and even though we had an extended bumper to bumper warranty, the work was not covered.this is a frequent issue, i have discovered on line, according to many owners of gmc suvs and trucks between the 2015 and 2018 models. Cost of repair including both tail lights is 1617.05.gmc supported me by covering 600.00 of the cost so i paid 1017.05 out of pocket for 2 tail lights that should not have failed.i have only 24554 miles on the vehicle and have never had an accident.additional to that, the 2 front seat belts are fraying which may lead to weakness eventually causing a safety issue.i want gmc to cover all costs related to repair of these two problems.there should be a recall regarding both. Seat belt problem has been on going for months and the tail light thing just happened on monday, june 17, 2019.
The tail light failed with no physical damage. L.e.d. Failure no tail light or brake light.bulbs are not replaceable & the whole tail light needs to be replaced
Passenger side tail light stops working occasionally.this affect's the brake light and night driving. It has stopped working up to a week at a time, but then starts working again.it might be weather related.
The rear tail lights work periodically. I've already replaced the left side and now the right side has went out. Cost is $750 to replace. I am currently having to wait on a tail light because they are backordered due to so many others having same problem (according to dealer). It will work periodically at first but if this is like the previous, it will eventually quit working all together. Sometime the bottom half is lit but not the whole lamp. Dealer couldn't tell me if they had fixed the problem or if i will be getting another faulty part.
Manufacture defective , front driver side headlight assembly has high condensation which continues to get worse. It has caused the light to malfunction and now will not work. I was told by a mechanic that the whole headlight assembly has to be replaced because if not the bulbs will continue to burn out due to the condensation.
The rear passenger brake lights just randomly stopped working. Not a bulb issue as it is an led panel of lights. The back up bulb still works, but the brake lights don't. Dealer says it happens a lot to these cars, and have to buy a whole new unit. This is a safety issue - break lights failing due to poor wiring. Again not a replaceable bulb issue, it is due to a wiring issue within the lighting unit itself
At less than 3 years old both taillights have quit.they are a sealed assembly so the whole side needs replaced.we were quoted $750 each.our three year old yukon has no taillights and will take $1500 to replace.i'm disappointed in gm to say the least.
Defective tail light assembly.inadequate material/design defect leads to circuit connection failure.gm is aware of the problem but still charges $800-900 to repair the oem defect.major safety issue having tail light failure.we have many yukons in our fleet and all have had failures.
Driver side taillights are broken.passenger side taillights are failing now.neither taillights nor break lights are functioning properly on the driver side and the tail lights are starting to fail on the passenger side
I purchased my 2015 yukon in 8/2016 and in the beginning of 2017 the tail light on the right side burnt out the brake light did not work during the day but at night it would work . I took it to the dealership and they told me the led lamp had gone and needed to be replace . I came find out this lamp is all one part and the cost for a supposedly is over $600 just the lamp . So i had to buy the lamp and replaced it myself but they asked me for the core . So this was in 2917 and now two years later the same light that brought brand new in 2017 is out again and i'm having to spend another 600 to replace it again. I feel something should be done to help the consumer because gm does not care about this and how it affects the vonsur . Can something be done ?
Having issues with the tail lights ever since i got the vehicle. First it was one light completely out. Then it worked for awhile, and now both lights are intermittently working. The side yellow lights work on both but the running lights and the brake lights all dont work almost all of the time. Upon reading up on the internet, many many sites as well as local people with the same vehicle, all state they have the exact same issue with their tail lights. It seems to be a very common issue with the same pieces faulting in all of these yukons. Doesn't matter if vehicle is stopped or moving they hardly ever work.
Drivers side tail light intermittently works, doesn't work all the time. Passenger side brake light stays on continuously, never changes.
The rear brake lights have issues one side stopped working a few weeks ago and now the other side stopped working they are not cheap to repair and the car is not even got 40,000 miles on it i would expect that they would at least last about 80,000 miles.
Brake light is not working on passenger side.went to replace bulb and found out that one has to replace the entire taillight ensemble which is $700-800.it is sad that something important to safety like a brake light has to cost that much to replace.i researched and found this tends to be a common problem.so much for led lights--this is also poor engineering!
Led brake light is faulty. Dealership wants over $800 for repair of single light. Seems to be a known problem for this make and model.
Brake lights give out on both sides and are very expensive to repair
2015 denali with 30k miles (still under manufact warranty) brake lights quit working. Dealership stated tail light assemblies needed to be replaced.
Taillight failure.gm is aware of the problem, it's all over the internet.now out of warranty and dealer wants $800+ each to fix.
Tail lights work inconsistently, dealership tells me it's common problem with my year and model.
Rear tail/brake light failed after functioning intermittently for a month.gmc dealer replaced the entire assembly with a new gm part at a cost of over $800.gmc dealer explained that despite chronic failures of this particular part, gm refuses to recall.failure appears to result from a faulty circuit board that cannot be replaced or repaired easily.intermittent nature of the failure is an unsafe condition, especially at night or in foul weather.
Taillights works inconsistentno brake lights took to dealer they said the both lights need to be replaced and my warranty doesn't cover it they said these vehicles are known for having this problem need for help with this
Brake lights for passenger rear lamp assembly is not working.this is the second time within 25 months that this has happened.the entire lamp assembly needs to be replaced at a cost of $600+.the vehicle has less than 49,000 miles, and it is no longer covered under warranty.online forums indicate that this is a common problem with the brake lights in the lamp assemblies.it appears the circuit boards for the led brake lights are breaking.
Both rear tail light assemblies went bad. The left one in april of 2019 and the right one in january of 2021. Service advisors in the 2 dealerships i deal with claim the do not know anything about it. Yet a number of repair shops on the internet know of this problem in 2015 to 2019 yukon's because they repair them. Funny that gm does not. I sent the 1st one out and it was repaired for well under the cost of a new one. I complained again to the service advisor about this one to no avail. Going to send it out for repair as well. Incidentally they cover the repair with a lifetime warranty.
The rear tail light sporadically quits working. There appears to be a short or malfunction in the led light structure. This occurs when stopped and in motion. Malfunctioning break lights are a serious safety concern.
Rear passenger brake light stopped working. Internet searches indicate that it is a frequent problem with many complaints. Most notable is the dealer cost to replace - $600 - $800 per fixture due to it being a sealed unit after warranty has expired. Gm needs to fix this problem.a recall is definitely in order.
The brake lights have gone out with only 42000 miles on it. I have read on message boards across the nation this is a major problem. Dealer wants 800 to fix it.
Led brake lights went out.when i did a search on this problem, discovered that many others having the same problem with their yukons.dealers charging astronomical prices to fix.leds are supposed to last longer than regular bulbs.these light assemblies have a well known weak spot that causes them to go out.gmc has come up with an updated assembly.they should issue a recall and replace the original weak assemblies with the new ones.
My passenger side brake light went out a few months ago. Turn signal works. Now my driver side brake light is out. Turn signal does work. To get both fixed, i have to have the entire unit replaced which is quite expensive. I already replaced the front passenger unit due to the running light going out 2 years ago. Brake lights, are necessary for safety which is a problem. These led lights are supposed to have a longer functionality. And they cannot be replaced easily or cost-effectively.
The brake lights continuously work and then don't work. There is a malfunction with the brake lights in these cars. Please report your issues so gm can stop robbing us.
We were stopped at a red light today by someone telling us our tail light was blinking and going out. Our vehicle only has 65000 miles! i would think a led light should not go out yet. My vehicle sits under a carport when not in use. I have seen numerous complaints online for this same problem for same year model
Passenger side rear brake light suddenly stopped working. It is an led light which should never have to be replaced. Our local gmc service department said that it is the 'driver' attached to the led bulb that is faulty, but it cannot simply be replaced. They have to reinstall an entire tail light which apparently is pretty costly. I was quoted $925. Again, nothing wrong with the light bulb itself. Shouldn't cost $925 to fix.
Driver side brake lights (entire light assembly) no longer work.
The brake lights on 2015 and newer gmc yukon, yukon xl, denali, denali xl vehicles fail due to poor quality circuit metal/design of board allowing too narrow a connection for metal used.the result is a crack in the circuits metal which, depending on conditions, breaks the circuit and the tail lights fail to work.specifically brake lights fail first putting the driver of the vehicle in an serious safety situation with no indication that the failure has happened.in addition, the safety of drivers behind a gm vehicle exhibiting this problem are at serious risk as they may not realize the vehicle is coming to a stop.gmc is refusing to cover the issue and requires $800 per light and openly acknowledges that the new light can do the same thing at any given time.i don't normally go so far with an issue, but this seems particularly dangerous and warrants a recall.with the lack of indication other than courteous drivers telling you the lights are out or police pulling you over to tell you, the issues often start within warranty period but no way to know.numerous reports of tail light failures with new vehicles indicate that the issue is not related to age.as with my lights, no physical damage to the light at all eliminates some kind of impact outside of normal road bumps.hopefully action can be taken.
Brake light stopped working, gmc wants to replace the whole assembly for $800. My warranty has expired but i think gmc should have away to repair the light instead of replacing the whole assembly. A recall on this shady way of getting the consumer hard earned money. Because it should last longer. I can't drive my car in fear of getting a ticket. Please help
Passenger brake light does not work. We have had problems with it since day one. We took it back several times but still doesn't work.
Both rear brake lights have failed
Rear brake lights work intermittently. When taken to the dealer they say they can't find the problem. It is a safety issue and a common issue among these cars. It is horrible that gm will not fix this problem for free.
Both led taillights failed within one month on a truck with less than 25000 miles.
The rear tail light keeps going out.it was already replaced once at my dealership. Now the same light less than 3 years is not functioning.posing a safety concern as other vehicles would not see me at a complete stop due to my rear passenger light not working.this should be a safety recall.its a very common this is a manufacturing defect and gmc should have this fixed asap. Tried calling gmc and they said they would not help me with the repair cost of my rear passenger tail light.i stated this was a safety issue and required their attention.to no avail i was denied any assistance. The light itself at my dealership is $800 not including labor.this is my every day family driver car.i have been stopped by cops and given warnings and by other passer by's that my brake light is not functioning safely and appropriately.this needs to be escalated to a safety recall.as there are many threads with other gmc yukon owners having the same issues.thank you.
Someone who was driving behind me told me my driver's side brake light was out. I checked it with the help of someone else a couple times afterwards and it worked. Then a week or so later a co-worker told me the same thing, that it was out. I checked it again later and it worked, so the problem was intermittent. When i took it to the dealer, the taillight assembly had to be replaced. I just purchased the vehicle 1/7/2019 and before it was offered for sale the passenger-side tail light assembly was also replaced.
Rear led taillights work intermittently. Found several forums where this happens to a lot of people. If you tap the taillight it sometimes begins working again. Truck only has 60k miles and gm wants over $1200 to fix (replace both taillights). Evidently there's a circuit board that goes bad inside. I had this at gm to be fixed but because taillights were working at the time, they found no problem.
All break lights stopped working at the same time on both sides of vehicle.turn signal, back up lights, blinkers all still work.i was told the entire break light had to be replaced for a cost of apx 2k.it seems that this is a very common problem and the cost of repair is astronomical.
Both tail lights work intermittently. I have been stopped by other drivers on several occasions to tell me that one of my tail lights was not working. Both lights are effected, but not usually at the same time, so i at least have one working light at a time. This has been happening since i purchased the vehicle from the dealership used car lot on 01/23/2019 whether i am sitting still or driving down the road. When the light goes off, you can hit the light assembly with your hand and it will momentarily come back on.
This 2015 yukon slt has 2 failed rear taillights and brake lights.there is no indication of this failure in the instrument panel.my wife was advised by text from a friend these lights were out.the replacement assembly is appx $500.00 per side plus installation.i was advised this is not a warranty item and it is also a common failure on these vehicles.not sure when the failure occurred.the 3rd raised light was operational when the brakes were used.first noticed around july 10, 2020.i have several cars from 2002 on which warn of a light failure.these led lights were advertised to last for extended periods.this issue is dangerous and uacceptable.
My passenger brake lights stopped working.apparently the only way to fix is to buy a whole new unit which costs $300-$500.
Our 2015 gmc yukon denali has had the rear tail lights intermittently stop working for some time now. We even got pulled over by the police and were issued a fix it ticket!
Rear breaktailights do not work at all times. Most of the time they require tapping on the taillight to get them to light the tail light.not a bulb issue and seems to be a common problem with all yukon's of thismake. Very frustrating to have them work inconsistently .sometimes one light out and sometimes both.
Intermittent failed passenger tail light on a 2015 yukon, works occasionally.quoted 650$ to repair poorly manufactured led lights!
Over the life of owing this new car, from march 2016 to july 2019, the rear passenger and driver side tail light assembly have each failed once and were replaced by my own expense. Again for a third time total, this month the passenger side taillight assembly repeated its failure to have the break light to function.i feel this amount of part failure inside 3 years is too extreme and is due to poor design by the manufacturer. These failed parts happened at 16,000, 30,000 and 50,000 miles of vehicle use. None of the taillight parts were ever physically damaged before. The cost of the part alone is $795.00. That is even more rediculous considering a home led bulb lasts longer and costs much less.
Rear side tail lights intermittently stop working
Both brake lights are out. It's because of a defect in design. The metal bracket that holds the brake light leds is cracked and breaks the circuit, therefore the lights won't work. Led lights should work for quite a long time. Only way to fix it through the dealer is to replace the entire tail light assembly to the tune of approximately $1400 for both lights.it can be repaired by cutting the assembly open and soldering the crack in the led bracket.there are many instances of this being reported online.dealers deny encountering the problem. Gmc is not addressing the issue.there are reported cases online where gmc yukon owners have of course had the repairs made within warranty with no cost but as soon as the warranty is out and the problem reoccurs, then the owner has to pay approximately $700 per light to replace the tail light assembly.this is a safety issue, no brake lights can cause serious wrecks and injury.
Rear tail/brake/turn lights randomly don't work.this issue is very common and complained about repeatedly on the internet.i have this issue with my left tail light.
I have a 2015 gmc yukon with condensation in the right and left front headlight assemblies. My turn indicator stopped working which usually indicates a burned out bulb.i did not notice the condensation and i took my yukon to the dealership for what i thought was going to be a simple bulb replacement.the headlight assemblies are completely sealed which requires the replacement of the complete lamp assembly if a bulb filament burns out.the dealership pointed out the condensation and told me the bulb malfunction is likely caused by the condensation. Since my visit to the dealership yesterday, the turn indicator has worked intermittently.a call back to the dealership with the update and the response was that the condensation likely caused corrosion and still needed to be replaced.they advised me the other headlight and signal indicator were likely to malfunction as well. It is obviously an ongoing issue since gm issued a technical service bulletin around may 2014 and updated it in march 2016 to include 2016 and 2017 models. The condensation covers the entire lens. This is obviously an issue at night when using the headlights.the headlight assembly is non serviceable - entire headlight assembly must be replaced for non-working bulb at a huge cost $1200/side).gms technical service bulletin notes that if certain conditions are noted (such as in my case), the replacement of the lamp assembly may not correct this condition.
Faulty rear brake lights.the right led module failed, and was replaced.then the left led module failed about a year later.now the replaced right led module has failed for a second time!each repair is approx $650.00 for a 'do it myself' repair.these led modules should last for the life of the vehicle and not fail.widely noted as being a defective design.gm should redesign and make good on repairs beyond the standard warranty for those of us that are out of pocket.
The brake lights work sometimes and then don't, this is a huge issue. If they stop working while driving this could kill me or another driver or someones passenger(s).
Driver side brake light stopped working on 2015 yukon w 65k miles and no accidents.dealer said it's a known issue and part is $800 to repair due to led assembly.gmc customer service offered a $100 voucher to go towards new part (if i took my car in and paid for a diagnostic test) which is a joke.as of today there are 278 complaints regarding 2015 yukons and 60% of those are regarding exterior lighting.however gmc customer service would not admit faulty tail lights were a "known issue."why isn't this a recall?!and why are consumers still be charged $800 for faulty tail light assemblies?gmc is profiting off of known wide-spread issues and needs to be held accountable.the brake light is on backorder due to the sheer number of others experiencing this same issue.my car has had shocks replaced at 15k miles, electrical issues with interior lights, ac problems, and now this all before 70k.come on gmc....step it up or else i'll be trading my pos yukon in for a chevy.
Passenger side rear brake light was working intermittently and now has stopped working all together. The brake light unit is a sealed unit that can not be serviced, it must be replaced entirely. Very common problem on this model due to a faulty brake light assembly. Failure of brake lights puts the safety of my family in jeopardy.
Passenger brake light inconsistanly will work one day then stop working. The next day it will be working again. The brake light is an led strip and cannot be replaced. This has been going on for months and the car has 10k miles. We never know if and when the light will be working. I have been taking pictures documenting the brake light and it appears to work for 2 weeks then goes out for a week and then comes back on for two weeks.
Tail lights go out. I have read multiple posts about this issue, but yet there is no safety recall issued for this. It is very expensive to replace the lights and i am afraid if i do, the same issue will exist.
I bought my gmc yukon in march of 2019 about a week later i had people inform me my brake lights were not working.i would check at night and they would.a few months later i noticed it myself, they would work one minute but not the next.december of 2019 i get a letter from gmc stating they know 2015 model gmc yukon vehicles may have a condition where the brake lights intermittently do not illuminate.i could have it done if my suv was not over 72k miles but it was when i bought it.so that doesn't help me and they want $2k to fix it.i called to see what they could do and they told me this wasn't a safety issue.if they do work and someone doesn't see i am braking, my kids or family are in the back seat, how is that not safety related?they need to make this a recall!
2015 yukon xl passenger side brake lights don't work
Left taillight went out at around 82,000 miles, first flickered for a few months, then went completely out. Within one week, the right taillightwent completely out also.
Purchased vehicle (used) from dealer less than 2 years ago. Driver taillight went out. Not covered under warranty but is a safety issue that according to several forums in a known problem. The taillight is architected, engineered, and built in such a way as to be very expensive to replace, break often, and discourage diy or non-dealer repairs.the vehicle was stationary when the problem was noticed.
Passenger break light intermittently works. Took to gmc they said there is no known issue which is a lie! hundreds of owners online having the same issues. They said they can't nail down the issue since there's clearly power there. They want me to buy a while tail light assembly! about 900 dollars for the same faulty part!
Passenger side tail light/brake light goes out intermittently at random. I purchased car used in february 2020 and was informed soon after by friend that my tail light was out when leaving their home. It was working the next day when i checked. I now watch it and see that it works only sometimes.cost to replace is approximately $700 assuming only a replacement light is needed and nothing else is wrong. Based on the multiple complaints i have seen this sounds like a wiring issue that should be a manufacturer recall for safety reasons.
Tail lights don't work. Have seen several complaints about this problem. There is currently a lawsuit concerning this.gmc will only cover replacement if car has less than 72,000 miles. The replacement lights cost about $800 each. Having it looked at now. Fear that i will have to pay replacement costs.
The led rear brake lights aren't working.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving various speeds, the brake lights failed to illuminate when the brake pedal was depressed. The dealer diagnosed that the tail assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,510.
Where to start, it seems gmc yukon xl has been having a lot of issues with its models 2015-up. Imagine driving at night and all of a sudden one brake light goes out then a few moments later the other as well. I have read multiple complaints about this issue on going with gmc but no response to resolve the issue. How can three year old suv lose not one but both break lights and your stuck out of town trying to fix or find a resolve. You can't replace the bulb but need to replace the whole assembly, god forbid i would of been driving or some hit me due to both break lights going out. This issue with the brake lights for the gmc needs to be addressed and fixed. You spend so much money on what you thought was a great vehicle only to realize you purchased a lemon instead.
Both taillights intermittently stop working.
The brake lights on my 2015 are defective.the driver side light went out about nine months ago and now the passenger side light is out.our local dealership wants $800 apiece for these led lights that should last many, many years.a quick internet search reveals that 1) the problem is widespread and 2) gm won't acknowledge it.working brake lights are a matter of safety, and the fact that gm produces these lights as cheaply as possible and then charges an arm and a leg after the parts fail early in their lifetime is suspect to say the least.
I have now had my 3rd led light go out on my yukon xl 2015 the first was the passenger head light then the passenger tail light and now the driver tail light
Part of the circuit board in the tail lights was very poorly designed. It is a sealed assembly without serviceable parts. A very thin strip of metal, one at the top, and one at the bottom break due to thermal expansion and contraction. It gives no warning no lights nothing just all the sudden no tail or brake light. It's not right it isn't serviceable, and the dealership charges $400 plus for a new one. What happens if both fail at the same time. G.m. Needs to be held liable, and do the right thing. After all they are supposed to be "professional grade".
Tail light has been flickering for months and now is out. Gmc will not fix because i am 4 months out of warranty. I only have 18,000 miles on my yukon.
Both rear tail lights (brake and running lights) are not functioning properly. The passenger side isn't working all together and the drivers side will sometimes be on and other times not. The dealership wants $679 each side for replacements. This seems like quite a big expense for a safety issue that gm needs to address.
Brake lights work sporadically, until the passenger rear finally stopped working all together. Contacted the dealership and was told this was a very common problem, that they replace several a week, and my warranty would not cover it. Got a estimate of over $1600 to repair it.was pulled over on several occasions each time was told it was either the left or right not working. Then miraculously both would be working. If this is such a common problem like the dealership stated, then why hasn't gm recalled or discontinued using them? this is a serious safety issue and not as simple as replacing a bulb. Way to costly to just bring in for repairs!
Passenger side rear tail light led's stop working, had to replace the whole unit. Not warrantied
Both led tail light units on 2015 gmc yukon failed within 6 months of each other.the led stripping no longer illuminates.exact same problem on both driver and passenger sides of vehicle.was informed by dealership the only option for repair is replacement of the entire light at a cost of over $900 per tail light.
Transfer case engaged into 4wd while driving with touching any of the controls. Now it won't switch out.service 4wd light appears.
The brake lights work and then stop working. It is not the bulb nor the fuse. I was told it could be the light assemblies which is very costly. This has been going on for a few weeks. I have done research and it seems there are a lot of issues with the brake lights for this make and model of vehicle. Many people state they have the same issue.
Rear passenger tail light out and passenger window only goes half way down.
Led tail lights/brake lights not working due to bad circuit boards in the lamp housing when in motion or in park. Gm says there is a upgrade kit but they made them where you can not get into them and fix them without replacing the whole unit which runs an average of $650 and up each. Brake lights are a serious safety hazard if they do not work. I have been on many blog sites with hundreds of people experiencing the same issues on the same vehicle. Gm should recall them and replace them with the upgrade kit because it is a manufacturing defect and a safety hazard on the road.
Passenger side brake light out.i see there are over 100 complaints, and no recall.come on gmc, this is a serious safety hazard.
The ledbrake light went out there seems too be faulty electrical and company knows it
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon.
Left tail light is intermittently faulty.brake light only works intermittently.
The rear led brake lights are intermittently not working. It appears to be a bad connection or faulty light board inside the housing. When the temperature gets hot, the brake lights stop working. It can happen at any time, when driving or parked. Not having break lights on a vehicle is extremely dangerous. There is not a way to change the bulbs or board without changing the entire light housing.after a quick google search, this is a serious safety problem affecting a huge number of people with the same exact issue. Thousands of people are experiencing the same problem and it appears to be a manufacturing known issue that the dearlerahips are cashing in on.
Right side /passenger brake lights failed.dealer says it's a cracked electrical board.they said that they have seen tons of these and it's not under warranty.$1300 dealer repair estimate.this should be a recall issue.
Rear brake lights failed.
My taillight assembly led lights have gone out. I've read about this issue and it's a common issue with this vehicle and the dealer charges close to $1000 per light to repair this issue.
Bought 2015 yukon in september 17, certified by dealer and june 18 i noticed rear light flickering on driver side. Bought warranty for truck and it's not covered. Dealer says 876$ for one new light . I have read online now where alot of complaints are being made for same issue. Also have exterior black door panel flapping in the wind and dealer says that's not covered under warranty either.looks like i will be trading this truck in asap
Rear tail lights not working.both tail lights require replacement.there is an open recall for 2016 gmc yukon's why is there not an open recall for 2015?this is obviously an issue based on the number of complaints made / reported here.
The led tail lights are not working properly and cost 500 to replace it which is ridicoulous.
Tail light lighting strip spontaneously malfunctioned and stopped working. Vehicle has no light and no brake lighting which could have resulted in auto accident. Within a month the headlight has burned out resulting in a blinker malfunction. Vehicle was on highway when both lights malfunctioned
My gmc youkon denali has brake lights that are known to dealers to fail. Yet there is not a recall. I looked on the inter net and saw that there has been this problem since 2015 to 2018. Because of a joint that was soldered instead of a wire. I know why when i brought it in for recall that the service man looked at my stop lights.
Driver's side brake light not working.apparently a common problem in these year yukons, and gmc refuses to acknowledge the problem.repair is exorbitantly expensive, and gmc should pay for the repairs.the vehicle only has 50,000 miles, and has never been in an accident.
I would like to resort how hard it is to tell if these vehicles are turning or braking due to the "brake-light-turn-signal combination" where the brake light goes off when the turn signal is on.
So my brake light on rear all have gone out due to bad led lights or some known component goes bad.#2. Fuel pump is bad.#3radiator has a crack in it.this is a 2015 yukon
Rear brake lights stop working intermittently, sometimes one doesn't work, sometimes both are out, sometimes both work.seems worse in the hot weather. Taken it in multiple time, 1st 2 times couldn't duplicate the outage, 3rd time they said it needed both taillight assemblies replaces for $1200. Then they worked all winter, now not working consistently.
Both driver side and passenger side rear brake lights fail intermittently.at times it's just one side or the other, occasionally both sides fail at the same time.this is a 2015 vehicle with 40k miles and both lighting assembly's are failing.
Right tail light (only red light) doesn't work. Reverse light works and signal light works all the time but red part doesn't. It works and then it doesn't. It does it randomly.
Brake and tail lights go out intermittently while driving. I've been stopped multiple times on road with other drivers telling me. I also have several friends with same model telling me this happened to them.
The passenger side headlight assembly was working and now after having the truck since april the running light has gone out completely. It was already hard seeing the road ahead with the lights working because all of them are so dim but now it is even worse. The entire headlight has to be replaced because of moisture inside the so called sealed assembly. I took the truck to the dealership only to find out that it will cost me $1200 plus dollars for the light and labor this is really ridiculous. I have read on many different gmc forums that this is an all around state to state problem that i think gmc should address not only because of the cost but because of the safety issues that this poses. Please do something about this problem.
Rear tail light circuit boards breaking and causing brake lights or tail lights to fail or not work.
Vehicle front headlight and taillight leds are out.three out of the four lights have gone out in the last month.
Driver side break light works intermittently. After researching multiple owners in similar model years have noted the issue being inside of the light itself having an electrical issue. But the dealership wants $750 for a new one when the problem is wide spread, needs to be recalled and made right.
Stop and tail functions inside the tail lamps have become inoperative. Purchased vehicle used and falls just outside of the special coverage adjustment; n182180270.this is still very much a safety issue, even though it's 1 month longer than the 6 year cutoff.
The a/c has quick working. We took it in to get fixed, they could find nothing wrong except low on freon. Replaced and it is gone (has dye in it & no detection where it has gone). I didn't drive this car for 6 mos. Because of this (too hot). I can't afford to fix everything that is going wrong on this car.same day a/c went out, the heat system went out on the driver's side seat. Just blows cold air!this is ridiculous! the suspension is now slamming hard and super loud (especially when it is cool/cold out).i am glad they are finally fixing the brake issue but really?all this other bs on this expensive car?the day we got back from shop for the a/c, the driver side brake light was out. Omg!! talk about expensive to repair!! 650-800 for just the light assembly through gmc and that is reconditioned parts! why would we put more crap parts in?waited another 2 mos to save money to go to an aftermarket person to fix this.just waiting on the other side to go out!lights go out all the time, why would you make them where they are not affordable?we baby our car, park away from everyone and yet it is falling apart due to the crappy products that gm used to manufacture it. All these problems happened (except the braking issue and the suspension) when i went to start the car and i noticed it. The suspension is when i am driving and the road can just have a 'wave" in it.if there is any sort of bounce, this car will bottom out and is super loud.the air started 3/28/19 and all has followed.we bought it used with 74k-ish on it. Have only had it since last july, 2018
Stop light dont work
Rear tail light is out and dealership wants to charge $900 to replace the entire assembly. This vehicle is 3 years old. There is absolutely no reason an led bulb would or should burn out this fast nor should the entire assembly be replaced. Gm should be required to recall or replace just the bulbs at cost.
The back passenger brake light has been functioning intermittently for the past 15 months.we have been stopped by other vehicles letting us know 'your tailight is out' but when we get home to look at it, the light is functioning just fine.after multiple occurrences being told the same thing, we took the yukon into the dealer to have it checked.the dealer let us know that this is a known issue with this design, and that there is a recall/warranty for this issue.however - our yukon had 76,000 miles at the time we took it in, and the recall only covered vehicles less than 72,000 miles or 6years from date of service.now - i have read many forums and seen all across the country that this issue is occurring due to a poor design from gm.limiting the recall to a certain mileage is [xxx] when you know there is a design flaw in the first place.not only is this a safety concern with the taillight not working, but gm is now refusing to replace it?i expect this item to be covered in full, as i don't spend $70k on a vehicle only to have to replace defects on my own dime.$1000 for a replacement taillight, are you kidding me?i would like our taillight replaced at no cost due to poor design and a manufacturer's defect - both of which are no fault of the use and ownership of my yukon.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Driver side rear brake light stopped working. Dealer wants $800 to replace brake light
Driver side tail light quit working
The vehicle has under 40,000 miles and the brake lights have failed. These are led type brake lights so they should last much longer. You can not replace the individual bulbs. You must replace the whole tail light assembly at the cost of $750 each. A warning on the dash never appeared to notify me that the brake light was not functioning.
Rear lights and brake lights do not work on both sides.
The taillights will short out and stop working. The true signal works but the brake and running lights stop working. The touchscreen display isn't working on some parts of the screen. For example, i cannot change the time because the toggles to change the numbers up or down will not work.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, it was discovered that the rear brake lights were inoperable. The contact determined that the failure was intermittent by tapping on the light housing. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer ben mynatt buick located at 289 concord pkwy s, concord, nc 28027 was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 79,800.
I was pulled over for no brake lights, officer told me he has the same vehicle and that he has the same problem. The brake lights come on and off when ever they want to. Very very unsafe
Tail brake light is out. Vehicle has not been in any type of accident.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the rear driver's side brake light and passenger side tail light were burned out. The contact stated that the brake lights would not illuminate. The vehicle was taken to ed bozarth chevrolet (2001 s havana st, aurora, co 80014, (720) 746-2716) and john elway chevrolet (5200 s broadway, englewood, co 80113, (720) 259-0391), but the parts were not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The failure mileage was81,000.
Taillight is out on my vehicle. The lights are led and thecar is only four years old. Replacement is $500-750for a taillight!
I have replaced the passenger side tailight and now the driver side tailight is not working. The turn signal and reverse light work but the red part of the light will work and then go out.
Passenger rear brake lights quit working.appears to be a defect in the design that causes a break in the circuit on the light assembly.repair can be manually down by cutting through plastic of assembly and soldering break, or replacement of entire light assembly.no accidents - just normal driving.
Both of the vehicle tail lights have become nonoperational due to a manufacturing defect.brake lights do not work.the tail lights are a complete assembles and consist of leds.
Brake lights intermittently do not illuminate
Rear tail light not working
Both brake lights went out.dealer said had to replace entire fixture. Not covered under bumper to bumper extended warranty purchased.safety hazard that many other 2015 yukon owners have experienced.trim/seal appliqus around door windows also coming off and also not co weed under b2b warranty.shottily made vehicle.
Passenger side led taillight assembly is out with only 22,000 miles its past the 3 year warranty period. The dealership is asking approx $700 to replace/repair.
Tail led lights and brake lights stopped working then start working partially then back to not working, went to have them replaced and it cost $1500.00 and then 6 months later back to partial working tail led lights and brake light then a small strip of them working then nothing at all then back to working then back to no light permanently again!!
The tail lights stop working or they flicker like there's a loose connectionor something not making contact i e seen other complaints about the same thing and gm now has a new improved tail light but the old ones all fail all stop working .on the braking system it doesn't brake when going a low speed without giving it gas i have to pump n push the brakes all the way down or give it a lil gas to be able to stop or brakethe lights flicker or stop workingwhile driving stop all the time the dealer wants 1500-2000 to replace em the lights..they are defective and should be recalled their bad workmanship shouldn't be mine our anybody else that has this vehicle burden this is not a cheap vehicle i paid over $50,000 used for about a year..i need your help. The brakes need to be fixed also because at low speeds with no gas on the pedal i can roll into something hit something or someone.
Takata recall: i was informed today by another driver that both of my rear break lights are out, and i checked and dont have any rear break lights only the strip light up top works.i was driving on a city street and have only ever driver on city streets or highways. This is some bull crap considering the price of these vehicles and need a recall for the rear break lights, because they are $800.00 to replace each break light.
My tail lights go out every now and then. More in the summer than the winter. The break lights and turn signal still work great. I have looked online and it looks like a lot of people are having the same issue. Its a safety issue having tail lights one minute and then not having tail lights. I asked gm months ago to do a recall and still haven't heard anything. This happens while it is in motion and stationary. We seen online that all the issue is, is a place that comes loose in the tail light and it only needs soldered together. We took the tail lights out and had a professional to solder it and they started working perfectly. They now are working part time again. For this to happen to multiple people i feel like it is an issue gm should fix. If it was rare i would understand if i had to buy new tail lights. But with multiple people having this issue will new lights not do the same?
We had a taillight go out at 70,000 miles. The whole unit had to be replaced and we paid over $900 through a gmc dealer. Then we had the other taillight go out at 88,000 miles. It cost $1000 to repair.we've recently reasearched the issue online and it seems to be extremely common on this specific vehicle and most people and reputable electricians have stated that it's a result of a faulty part in the unit.
Purchased my 2015 gmc yukon in june 2017.when i initially purchased the vehicle everything was fine.around may or june of 2018 the passenger side headlight was filled with condensation and i was quoted $1462 for labor and parts.mind you the vehicle had less than 50k miles on it.i sent a complaint to the corporate office and ended up paying $860 dollars to have it fixed.here it is now october and now both the brake lights are intermittently working.i just took the truck in for a recent recall for a steering issue.i'm not understanding why there are so many issues related to the lights.so i will now have to pay get the taillights fixed.there have been other issues not tested and i am currently flu at the point of reading this vehicle in.
Led brake lights go out quickly without any warning on the dashboard. Multiple online complaints of same issue to the point that multiple businesses advertise about this specific fix. Dealership wants $1500 for repair of both and despite online advertisements they deny this is a problem. This is a safety issue since whatever the cause it bypasses the dashboard alarm. You have to find out via accident, collision, or by receiving a ticket.
The rear brake lights of my vehicle went out in july of 2017 both of them within a week, driver and passenger side. I had the whole light panel replaced under the warranty on each of them and now again my passenger-side brake light has gone out. It came back on momentarily in the morning and then went out again. I have researched the issue and found that many people are having the same problem anda friend of mine currently has one out on her 2017 yukon which she is taking in to get fixed. Speaking with the service advisors at the dealership they informed me that this is a common problem but no recalls have been issued for it. As of today the part is also on backorder and they do not know when they will get the part in. So in the meantime i am without a brake light.
Led brake lights have gone out and there is not a reasonable repair.
Brake light goes out due to wiring issues.
Tail lights only work intermittently
I was told my a collegue that my drivers side brake light was out.i took it into the local mechanic and it was not out.a few months go by and i am told again, that my drivers side tail light is out.i take it to a different shop and it is working correctly.the very next day a truck tells me at a stop light that i have no brake lights.i was pulled over by a police officer for not having properly working break lights.he let's me go with a friendly notice, but as soon as i started my vehicle to drive away he immediately pulls me back over to tell me that he was mistaken that only my driers side brake light was out.this has happened intermittently over the last three to four months.
My air conditioner is out! in the middle of summer in georgia! i had it diagnosed from someone i trust and from the dealer, both said its a crack which causes the refrigerant to leak and lose pressure. There has been exactly zero damage or any foreign object that caused this. We know it is a defective part that gm uses.also, my rear passenger tail light is out and has to be replaced to the tune of about $600. This too is a common problem with these vehicles that is due to a defective part that gm uses. I have 2 friends with the same year model vehicle and they both have had this problem. Again, no outside influence such as damage or foreign object has caused this.i bought an extended warranty when i purchased the car. I called to have the repair for a/c covered but my warranty was out (had run out 600 miles before i called!) and 2 seperate representatives told me they have about 2-3 claims per week on this specific a/c problem with gm vehicles.
Headlight has water condensation in it and dealership says it's a sealed unit so the whole headlight needs replaced and if it happened to the passenger side it's most likely going to happen to the driver side 1 headlight cost $1,200 to replace and labor if gmc knows this is a problem with the 2015 yukons how come something is not being done about it because $1,200 is not a small amount of money!
Brake lights only work intermittently.this poses a safety hazard while driving and could cause a wreck.replacement is $800 per light, very cost prohibitive.
Both drive side and passenger tail brake lights not working. Issue caused by the ledsbeing a 1 large cheap circuit inside the unit. The circuit cracks causing the lights not to work.
I purchased a 2015 gmc yukon and am the second owner.last week, my driver's side brake light went out.i noticed it while driving when someone behind me told me it was out.six months ago, i replaced the passenger side brake light which cost $875 to fix (the entire light assembly must be replaced, not just a bulb). A little research online has proven that this seems to be a common problem for many other gmc yukon owners.led lights are supposed to last the lifetime of the vehicle, but it would appear that something about the product is defective. This is simply outrageous and gmc knows that it is a problem.
Circuit boards in led tail lights failing. This results in sporadic functioning brake lights.the design of the bus bar in the tail light has resulted in creating weak spots in the bus bar that crack and unless replaced or repaired at substantial cost the brake lights may or may not function properly.
Brake lights wont work all of the time.
Wiring on the brake lights is faulty causing the light to work on and off. While driving you don't know if your brake lights are working because they come on and off at times
Brakes don't work well when traveling at low rates of speed. Stopping requires brakes to be pressed to the ground and still may not stop. I have almost had several accidents even after having the issue 'repaired' last year. I've had the problem assessed at 3 different mechanics. I have had to throw my car into park to avoid hitting cars in front of me. Brakes fail while driving in places such as traffic jams, drive thru, school pick up, etc. This is a huge safety hazard and fear that my children may be hurt if this issue is not corrected by the manufacturer. Steering becomes nearly impossible when the brake issues occur. This is an ongoing problem for the last 1.5- 2 years. Also, the tail lights continue to go out even after paying hundreds of dollars for replacements.
Faulty brake lights. Goes out intermittently and then stops working altogether. Cannot be fixed or repaired whether it is one led light or many- the whole led display is faulty and stops working. Dealer was going to charge $750 to fix- for just 1 rear brake light. Not having fully functioning brake lights on a 3 year old car is unacceptable and should be under recall- it's a safety issue and obviously a faulty part when there are numerous complaints and blog posts about the same issue.
Both of my taillights went completely out on my 2015 yukon denali. I was told by a stranger who asked me to pull over that both lights were completely out (specifically inside our residential community). I have a four year old and a baby with my hands full. I was so grateful to the stranger that informed me- preventing a potential accident with my babies in the car. I called to see how much the replacement lights would be. With labor we were looking at $2,000 at the dealership! to me this was outrageous... Especially after doing research and seeing that many 2015 yukon denali owners have the same issue and this is not yet a recall for gmc! when will the issue be recalled?... Heaven forbid not after a horrific accident from a blatant safety issue that they are not taking seriously! we proceeded to call gmc complaint department to file a complaint- the womanlied and told me she had never heard of this being an issue but even if she had she couldn't tell me.... Needless to say my complaint went upon deaf ears at gmc. I had no other choice but to order two new taillights through gmc.... Now that i am awaiting my order i'm thinking that i could experience the same issue with my new lights. Adding to my frustration, the parts department solidified that the taillight issue is incessant with this make, model and year... And they need to keep my taillights when they issue my new lights. I couldn't help but find this strange and became skeptical that they need to keep my faulty taillights. I'm frustratedand nervous driving my vehicle with my children. I'm worried for our safety and i pray my complaint is taken seriously. Gmc needs to be held accountable for their faulty products. My left light is half way out now bc my dad tried to weld a bridge to turn the lights back on in the mean time... Didn't end up working.
Taillight assemblies keep failing.dealer replaced one under warranty, but other now failed and charging $800+ to fix.defect in design/manufacturing of critical safety component.it's a common and known defect in the part.our other yukon's have the same issues.
Led taillight is already out - should last for 10+ years, car is out of warranty, dealer charges $750 to replace and can't guarantee it won't happen again. Dealer can't explain why the light is out, says it just happens
Tail lamps, tail lamps tail lamps! non serviceable led illumination bulb circuit is faulty leading to intermittent operation. Having part time brake light is against the lawand more important to me, leaves my family in an unsafe situation. Web search leads to many motorist having the same problem as i. As a paying taxpayer we should not be sold faulty goods that may have dire consequences.
The right rear brake light led strip no longer works.i have noticed that this is an on-going issue with other consumers.the dealer wants $650-$750 to replace.most of the time, it is a wiring issue that needs to be repaired.unfortunately, the plastics are glued together preventing access to make the repair.
The circuit boards on my brake lights are out.i have found that when moisture gets in them or when i hit a bump in the road they stop working.sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.this happens daily...when they vehicle stationary, in motion, on a city street or on a highway.
Drivers side tail light assembly does not work. There was no damage it just quit working.
The rear left tail light has gone out, which is a common failure mode of this design. The entire tail light module must be replaced, pushing $1000 for a bad design. This needs to be recalled and replaced, as it is extremely affordable and a safety issue that gmc will not address.
Rear tail light went out and the only solution is to replace the tail light? this is nutts
Rear tail light stopped working going on and off and according to the auto electrician my vehicle could have gotten on fire due to the faulty lights. Upon searching for answers to why my vehicle's back lights were not working, i came upon many other consumers experiencing the same issue. Not only is the cost to replace the lamps so high, we risk in driving a vehicle that could catch fire for such cheaply made lights. And i state this because the auto electrician said that the wire would heat up while driving the vehicle and cause further damages to my yukon. While driving, you can hear a clear chirping noise that is produced when you brake. This also happens while the vehicle is stationary.
Vehicle fails to stop properly at low speeds. Brakes become 'hard' and vehicle will roll to a stop. Brake lights appear to have a short and work intermittently.
Rear brake lights assembly failure (leds) both driver and passenger. Common failure known to gmc yukon customers.
Rear brake light assembly for both the left and right side work intermittently. We have already replaced the right side for a cost of $600.00 for the light assembly only.
Brake led lights go out and on, sometimes one side works, then other times the other side goes out, and sometimes both brake lights do not work. Sometimes by banging the cover, it turns on and works, but then they go out.
Right brake light and tail light quit working for a few days, then returned to normal operation, both worked fine for a week then the left side went out and also returns for a few days. Now both are out except for one led per side per cluster. No brake lights except for the one over the gate. And turn signals work as they should.
Left back taillight defective.it was replaced by gmc in 2017 under warranty (below 36,000 miles) now at 44000 it failed again.lots and lots of people posting the same issue online.bad design or just plain bad quality.see one of the posts here:https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t53845_ds768963see video here explaining issue on how internal board cracks and causes the issue:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnldjpymdzcanother video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ljxuqme3tudealer charges $844 parts and labor to replace, this is a known issue for gmc, this needs to be a recall.the issue is so well know that there are people on ebay making a business to repair it.a simple type in ebay yukon tail light will show multiple links.
Tail light- brake light not working. Passenger side tail light does not work.
Water/condensation in headlamp, no indication of cracks, turn signal and portion of headlight is now malfunctioning.this is a constant problem.
The passenger tail light was only working intermittently so i had the whole thing replacedfor $750. Now my driver side one is only working intermittently. Also my passenger headlight started accumulating moisture and now the whole led strip doesn't work. There has to be an issue with the company making them!
Both led tail light fixtures went out at once, both non functioning. Have to replace both fixtures costing over $1400 from a gm dealership.
Rear lights, tail lights stopped working. You cant just change the bulb. Being leds the whole piece has to be changed. Apparently this is a known issue and gm knows about it, yet theres been no recall??
I have a 2015 yukon denali with about 63k miles.my tail lights do not work properly.the driver sign works randomly.at time it works in the day and night others it appears to only work in night time or when the vehicle is not directly in the sun during the day.yesterday evening i notice the passenger side was out instead of the driver side.i have went to gmc dealership and they all say that the part needs to be place and will cost around $800 for one light.this is a common problem in all gm made vehicles and seems to be more noticeable in gmc yukons.i have been told by several people my light was out then it pops back on and even the police has stop me for my tail light before.this is a safety issue that could cause warm to me and my family (two small toddler) which i transport to and from school or someone else family due to alot of your customers mainly purchasing this vehicle to transport their families from one place to another.it troubles me that we pay $60k - $70k for these vehicles and the only solution is to replace the light with the same faulty part.this issues happens when park and driving.i live in baton rouge, la and i use the interstate to get to and from work each and every day.i would like to see gmc provide a solution that fixes this issue and not profit off of a bad part but forcing it's customers to constantly have to replace bad tail lights.i love my gmc yukon and will continue to purchase one as long as i feel i'm getting a quality vehicle for the amount of money i'm paying.
Brake light burnt out requiring the entire tail light lens to be replaced at a substantial and excessive cost over $800 for parts and labor. Vehicle mileage under 36,000 miles.
Approximately 6 months after purchasing our 2015 gmc yukon denali, having only driven under normal driving conditions on highways and surface streets for 15k miles, the passenger side tail / brake light went out. It was taken in for warranty and replaced by the dealer. Approx 6 months later the driver's side tail / brake light did the same thing, and was also replaced by the dealership.now approximately one year later the rear passenger light is out again and dealer wants $600.00 to replace the faulty brake light lamp, but can't because they're in such demand based on the defective part, that they are backordered.a quick internet search indicates thousands of people having the same issues.
Right rear taillight works intermittently. It is an led assembly, no bulbs can be replaced.only way to repair is to replace total assembly at cost od well over $650.00.this is a design or product flaw that gm is aware of and should be replace under warranty.they deny there is a problem.
Driver side tail light and break light does not work intermittently. Under 32k miles. Dealer does not cover as there is no recall.
Rear break light . Internal wiring of the tail lights cracks leading to tail light failure. The failure does not trigger any warnings and the driver is unaware of this failure unless they preform a pre trip inspection.
Brake lights have gone off and on for the last two years before finally going out. Dealership refused there was a problem while the vehicle was under warranty and now the repair will cost $1700
One of my led tail lights went out but it randomly comes back on, then off again.when i notified the dealership they mentioned this is occurring a lot on this model and age.
Purchased a 2015 yukon denali back in november 2019. Since purchasing the vehicle we have had to replace the battery, transmission, ac compressor and expansion valve (which still isn't working correctly, because it doesn't blow cold air), and the black panels that are in between the windows.also, both tail lights have decided to quit working.... Which concerns me greatly because cars behind me don't know when i am stopped or applying the breaks. Stopped or have my foot on the break.
The left tail light was not turning on when starting the car.left tail light does not come on when pressing brake.at first, it was intermittent and now it does not come on at all.
Passengers side brake light was only intermittently until it quit all together then the drivers side did the same thing.i called the local dealer about it last year and they stated they were not under warranty and the cost to replace them was over$800 each.
Tail lights intermittently work. There is no way to replace a bulb, and gmc has a replacement that fixes the problem, but it has not been recalled to fix the issue.
Rear taillight does not work. Searched online and found that this is a very common issue, gm refuses to fix and tries to charge $800 to replace whole tail light assembly
When the car is turned on, the passenger tail light assembly is malfunctioning and inconsistently work, but the turn signal and brake lights are working in the same assembly.
Shortage in passenger side tail light. Dealership quoted $800 to replace complete light.
Rear tail lamps both sides are out
The rear left light does not work consistently. I have been told by the dealer the whole light assembly will have to be replace at a cost of $800. The yukon is passed the 3 year warranty by a few months but below the 36000 miles. The extended warranty doesn't cover the light assembly either. Go figure. This seems to be a common problem with the rear led lights on this gmc suv according to numerous web sites.
My brake lights on my 2015 yukon dinaliwent out on the right side.i was informed by the dealership that they are not responsible for this and none of my warranties will cover it.
Right rear tail light and brake light stopped working.it is an led light and very expensive. This is a safety concern as lack of a brake light on one side is in violation of legal requirements. Led lights should not quit functioning after 5 years and 85,000 miles.
Driver side brake led lighting is working intermittently. Had it replaced under warranty. Passenger side brake led lighting now working intermittently, new issue.have not had replaced yet due to outrageous cost($700) for fixture replacement.only 40,000 miles on vehicle obviously reflects a serious safety issue to financially strapped consumers.
Brake light goes in and out and doesn't work all the time. According to what i'm reading is a very common issue and needs to be fixed. There is no fix except buying a brand new one and that doesn't seem right. Seems like a poor design and not to mention i can get a ticket for this. And most important...i have a family with two small kids and this is a safety hazard if my brake lights do not work!
The tail lights/ brake lights the cheaply made and have read of hundreds of people with this same issue i'm having that the circuit breaks and they stop working. This is a serious safety issue
Passenger side brake light stopped working
Replaced passenger tail light due to led failure in 2017.driver's side failed this week.full replacement of housing is required, and nothing that i can find states any design improvements have been made to date.this means further replacements of the entire light (part alone is quoted at around $700) will be necessary throughout the life of the vehicle.it appears from a quick internet search that there are a large number of vehicles effected, yet the dealer claims there is not a design issue and no recall has been issued.given this failure makes the tail light inoperable as well as the brake lights, this is a serious safety issue.
My rear passenger side tail light randomly works. No rhyme nor reason. We noticed this after bcm was replaced.
Rear tail lamps only work every now and then. Happens while moving and stationary. The rear tail lamps are cheaply made internally that the circuit board for the led lights easily breaks with regular driving. Its and obviously know issue for gmc because there are businesses online that there sole income is to repair these tail lights on 2015 to current yukon/ yukon xl models. Taken my 2015 yukon in before warranty was out and gmc dealer doesn't want to warranty and doesn't want to repair.tells owners they'll have to buy a new tail lamp at $800 a piece.total rip off .
At 32,000 miles we had our back tail light go out.gmc replaced it at cost to them which was around $280 .less than 6 months later the other tail light went out and dealer told us 'lights go out'.we paid full price $680 to have it replaced.now our left tail light is out again and it'll be another $680 or more to be replaced.this is ridiculous.they are led tail lights.these she last a very long time.thousands of others are having this problem.car gurus has a blog solely about this.the odd thing is they are mostly 2015 yukon's.a recall needs to be done on this problem and the thousands of people dealing with this should be reimbursed for replacing these tail lights over and over! if you pay 60,000 for a car you should not go through this.
For the past 3 years i have taken my truck into the dealership with complaints about intermittent brake light function. Specifically the lr light was not working. Once i was told i had to replace the entire assembly $800 - i came in to have the repair done, then i was told there was no issue. I returned again when the police gave me a warning about the same light. Was told no issue. Several times i have been alerted by other drivers that the light was out - sometimes it works if i smacked the exterior of the assembly but not consistently. Now - all of the brake lights are out lr/rr and the bar. I cannot drive it safely and i cannot believe that the only option is to pay several thousand dollars to replace it. Many have the same complaints. This should be a recall! we already paid several thousand dollars to buy this truck - it should not have these issues so early on. I have seen many other yukon's on the road with the same issue. My car is 2015 - the problem started almost immediately for us after purchasing. This is not acceptable.
I have 47,000 miles on my yukon slt. I replaced the high pressure fuel pump about two weeks ago for a price of $1,400. Now my driver side brake light went out.dealer is telling me nearly $800 to fix. I paid good money for this car and have had nothing but problems.
Brake lights working intermittently.occasionally either the right or left will not light up.not repeatable or consistent and dealer notes no service bulletins or codes.
My vehicle is currently a little over 3 years old and i have owned the vehicle for the last 2.5 years. I am highly upset that the vehicle is in great condition, however the front driver side led strip in the head light is out. I purchased an extended warranty for almost $2000 when i bought the vehicle which they will not cover. I also have the back passenger tail light out and i am told that the whole panel needs replacing. A total for the led strip and back panel will cost close to $1900. Why in the world is it that and led light is supposed to last 5x longer than a regular light, but it just goes out? that makes no sense. If the vehicle was 10 years old, that is one thing, but it being still on the new end, makes no sense. Also, how does the whole back light panel just go out? and why do dealerships act like " oh well, there is nothing we can do!" gmc must be lowering their standards. Had i known this vehicle would have these problems and no one seems to want to help, then i would have never bought it. Something needs to be done, especially since i have spend the last 30 minutes reading a forum ofa large amount of others having had the same issue.
Rear tail light stopped working. I had just over 37k miles on my vehicle when it happened, which is outside gm's warranty.called dealer and they told me its been a recurring problem with these vehicles, but no plans for gm to recall or repair part. Was quoted over $700 to replace the part.its a faulty, cheap design and major safety issue. The car has not been in any accidents and been driven on streets and highways only. It looks brand new. Here is just 1 forum of people discussing the same problem & a workaround fix. Https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t53845_ds768963
Rear passenger tail light needs to be replaced at a ridiculous cost.extremely poor engineering design.that is if it wasn't intentionally designed to fail.on the low end $5-600 to replace a tail light???what a joke.sad thing is i'm lucky, many many people have had more than one light assembly go out.i've bought gm for my last 3 vehicles (envoy, tahoe, yukon) this will likely be the last time i ever buy gm.
In march 2019 passenger side tail light started working intermittently- took it to the dealer and had it replaced ($800) one year later (may 2020) driver side tail light stopped working completely.
Driver side rear taillight not working, was told it was a broken solid circuit by the dealership. They want close to $1000 to replace the entire assembly. This is a very well known problem that gm is not recalling!!!!
Right brake light no longer works. Unable to replace bulb and have to spend 775 on a new light housing since these are not serviceable lights
Rear parking/brake light went out. Dealer says the fix is $800 plus labor to fix.
Left rear tail light (led) and breaklight failure. Not a bulb but the circuit failed.bumper to bumper warranty would not cover bulbs, but this was not a bulb failure! i would like to appeal this denial
The rear tail light led has malfunctioned and will not work or works intermittently.
Left rear brake light fixture (led style) completely failed after 54,000 miles.it's not the leds themselves.something else in the power supply failed.

2015 gmc yukon sle. Consumer writes in regards to pressure booming sensationwhile driving vehicle. *ld
So my brake light on rear all have gone out due to bad led lights or some known component goes bad.#2. Fuel pump is bad.#3radiator has a crack in it.this is a 2015 yukon
Was driving down the road and suddenly the check engine light started flashing and the esp light came on.i was very close to home so i drove back home and as i stopped the car it started shaking and i turned it off.brought it to the mechanic and he said the fuel injectors need to be replaced.i have been without my car for 11 days now as this is such a common problem that all the parts are on back order.this is very dangerous and needs to be recalled especially as it is such a common problem.for such an expensive car these kinds of things should not be happening.hoping for a recall soon so that i can receive my money back.
July 26, 2016 we were in las vegas traveling on the strip and our vehicle loss power and died, it started up after a few minutes. A code was set for fuel pump pressure, then today we were in marna az, and our vehicle died while driving in town. A policeman followed us to find out what was wrong and we told him. To our surprise he has been having the same issue with his 2015 tahoe. He brought his vehicle to dealership and they told him it here was a problem with the fuel pump when the temp is too hot.
Raw fuel fumes inside the cab and outside the vehicle.after looking under the vehicle there is a slow but steady fuel leak from the gas tank.i believe it is the plastic fuel line that has worn a hole in itself from rubbing on another object.
I have 47,000 miles on my yukon slt. I replaced the high pressure fuel pump about two weeks ago for a price of $1,400. Now my driver side brake light went out.dealer is telling me nearly $800 to fix. I paid good money for this car and have had nothing but problems.
When the gas pedal is depressed fully, the gas pedal sticks the car continues accelerating. The problem began with initial complete depression of gas pedal to cause some acceleration and depressing brake allowed vehicle to return to normal driving. The problem has worsened over time to the point where both feet depressing on the brake pedal did not affect acceleration and caused smoke to emit from both front brake pads, and the passenger front brake pad flamed up from the heat. The car was driven into a parking lot with the brake depressed the entire time, and turned off. So far, this has only happened when the gas pedal is fully depressed.the dealer told me the mat caused this even though the mat is cut around the gas pedal with plenty of room to not obstruct pedal. The mat also does not slide or move about the area. The gmc dealer told me they took the mat out and did not notice any auto acceleration, and they told me they were unable to depress the gas pedal full to attempt to recreate the problem, to not compromise the safety of the other cars nearby.
All doors on the vehicle lock when transmission is put into gear and all doors lock several seconds after door is shut with engine off. The automatic door locks can not be deactivated by myself or by the dealer.i find this both a safety issue and a inconvenience.as a commercial truck driver driven millions of miles i have both witnessedand have directly been involved with trying to get people extracted from wrecks.due to locked doors in several cases this has not been possible without breaking a side glass and physically unlocking the door from inside of the vehicle. In one accident two people wereunconscious after a crash with the engine running and a fire under the hood, the doors were locked. In another, a person was having an epileptic seizure after a crash and again doors were locks. In the last example a man died after driving into a canal, rescuers were unable to break the glass in time to save the driver. I should have the ability to decide whether to have the doors automatically lock; not the manufacturer. The 2013 and older gmc trucks the automatic door locks can be deactivated but 2014 and newer gm refused to release the program to the dealers or public so i have no option but to drive with locked doors. I am asking to have gm release the program to achieve disabling the automatic door locks.
This is the second time the following occurred. (oct 27,2014 and now on nov. 5,2014).when i went to drive the car, suddenly the car did not turn properly. If i made a sharp turn, it sounded like the front wheels were rubbing. The car was in 2 wheel auto. I immediately called the salesman and explained the situation. I drove the car on the highway (65mph) to dealership. Day later, loose wire in transfer case. Everything fine. Same thing occurs on nov. 5th and the salesman tells me to take a video, which i do, and bring the car in. Today i am told it was the computer program that was the problem.the salesman confirms that the auto was in 4 wheel drive when i brought the car in but the receiving and delivery service technician now says it wasn't. He said the 4wd light was not on and he only felt a little bit of a rough ride when i dropped it off. He also told me that the state of virginia does not have a lemon law, which he back tracked after i called him on it.other problems with car. Nav/radio/backup camera went blank on nov. 4th. There is a whistle noise on the top of the drivers side door. The ride is substandard to my old 2007 gmc yukon xl denali, which i bought new and had 197k miles. You feel every pebble or road imperfection. You get the typical response as if this was a $5,000 used car and not an $78,000.00 premium suv.
Transfer case failure causing multiple other component / system-wide failures including advance safety features, engine power reduction, 4 wheel drive system failure, bluetooth connectivity failure, radio failure, traction control failure and more.
I was backing out of parking space in the mall parking lot when the service light came on. It stated service 4wd. The truck was very hard to steer and wouldn't change into 2 wheel drive i was 40 miles from home and burned over a 1\4 tank of gas. With less than 6000 miles i must say this isn't how i expect a $60,000 truck to perform.
When the vehicle goes into 4 cylinder mode and you hold the speed steady or give it a little gas it starts to vibrate you can feel the vibration in the steering wheel and on the front console give it enough gas to make it go into 8 cylinder mode the vibration goes away.
Transmission has been clunky and jerky from from purchase.the vehicle vibrates between 30 - 35 miles per hour when shifting.the vehicle lurches forward when accelerating as if it has difficulty down-shifting.the problem is present from simply backing up out of the driveway, modest speeds on city streets, or on the highway.when brought back to the dealer, they claimed it was a software issue and "refreshed" the software.the problem has not gone away and did not improve by this software correction.my internet research indicates that this is a common problem with the new 8-speed transmission for the 2015 yukon denali and cadillac escalade.
When approaching a toll booth on the mass turnpike, with several lanes merging, with the vehicle almost stopped,it downshifted to 1st gear and in the processlurched forward extremely violently to the point i almost crashed into the carmerging in front of me-probably stopped short by six inches or less !!!
After owning the 2015 yukon denali for 6 months, i have to say this vehicle has its flaws.the 4wd system is in for service already after 9000 miles.not the kind of quality i would have expected on an $80,000 suv.at the moment, the vehicle is only a 2 wd system and seems very difficult to drive and turn.also, the intellilink software is very "buggy" and needs many updates.on several occasions, the entire touchscreen will go blank while driving down the road.this is cause for concern and is a major driving distraction.

Vehicle drive train operates erratically in various operating situations and has extensive vibrations between 25-40mph; vibrations are worse in certain gears. Significant lungeing and jerking on shifting gears on acceleration particularly when not accelerating intensely. Most concerning: when decelerating after running at highway speeds and downshifting (i.e. Exit ramps, highway service/rest areas), vehicle accelerates (after downshifting) and requires extensive brake pressure to slow and control.taken in for service 3x at 3 different gmc dealers. Transmission has been reprogrammed 2x.3rd dealer provided gmc technical service bulletin "#99-04-20-002i: information on drive train clunk noise - (nov 18, 2014)" and told it's 'normal operation' and is due to drivetrain 'lash' (aka gear slop or play).paid $150 to be told "customer concern not duplicated at this time".simply find this hard to believe as the operations as described are readily apparent.in all seriousness: (1) the sudden jerking/slamming of gears on acceleration has been notice by several passengers not just myself, (2) the acceleration on downshifting is a huge liability as the increased possibility of rear end collision is significant and (3) no way is it 'normal' operation.
Very concerned about my 2015 yukon xlt. The vehicle's gear shifted to a neutral of very low gear(not very sure) as i was driving down a long hill near birmingham, al. It felt like it went to first gear, but at the same time it did not slow the vehicle down, almost felt like the gear was grinding.the truck did not catch back into normal gear until the vehicle leveled back at the bottom of the hill.(it was extremely scary and worrisome ever since then, the transmission will not shift smoothly.
The 8 speed automatic transmission on my gmc yukon denali has a slippage issue that has persisted in our vehicle for a while unresolved. Gm has replaced torque converter, module and now they are claiming through dealer that the issue resides with at fluid. This slippage is bad because car jerks and sometimes hard. This issue needs to be addressed by gm as they know they have issues with this 8 speed at. The issue happens at stops and at slow speeds.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle hesitated and stopped independently. The contact stated that the reduced power warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over, turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle operated as intended. The vehicle was taken to henry brown buick gmc located at 1550 e. Drivers way, gilbert, az 85297, (480) 835-0900, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 119,000.
Turned on car, service 4 wheel drive message on display.car will not move.stranded with small children for 1 hour waiting for a tow.only 616 miles on the car - had for a week.why on earth was the recall not performed at the dealership prior to selling a $70,000 vehicle?
At certain speeds my vehicle vibrates, like a grinding sound at speeds between 50-55. This is a safety risk because i have children and grandchild that frequently ride with me. I have taken my vehicle back to the dealership and they say it is no codes and send it back to me without fixing the problem. My vehicle has not been inspected by anyone except the gm dealership. I got my vehicle nov. 2018 and this started happening between dec. 2018 and jan. 2019. My check engine light did appear and was flashing around this time. In 2019 i had to replace the rear shocks and i believe they are not working properly now.
Transfer case engaged into 4wd while driving with touching any of the controls. Now it won't switch out.service 4wd light appears.
On repeated occasions (from 2015 to 2019) i have experienced sudden acceleration at low speeds and sudden jerking motions.the transmission and speed controls are unpredictable and dangerous.this is hazardous and may result in a loss of control.i have also experienced numerous issues with the brakes including a stuck caliper at approximately 42,000 miles.i reported these issues and numerous other issues to gmc corporate, tustin buick gmc only to be told that it was a software issue and things are satisfactory and safe.gmc contends that the vehicle is fine and declines to assist with issues.this is an ongoing issue.the date below is approximate.the mileage is approximate on all entries.
The shoulder straps on the 2 outboard 2nd row seat belts are frayed. I took the vehicle to my gmc dealer today and he informed me that seat belts are only covered by the 36 month/36000 mile warranty, i was shocked to hear this. My vehicle has 57626 miles on it. I believe the design of the seat belt is faulty. What is obviously occurring is the seat belt buckle is rubbing against and through the shoulder strap when the belt is in the retracted position. I am concerned about the integrity of the belts, but i contend that gmc should be responsible to correct a faulty design. I highly doubt this condition is unique to my vehicle. I have attached 2 photos of the passenger side belt. The belt on the driver's side has the identical condition. Thank you.
Had an accident in 2018 air bags did not deploy and when tried to stop and pushed on my brake pedal, it was like it froze and i was still moving.i was driving 37mph on a city street when the accident happened.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the passenger side seat belt latch detached independently. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to dublin gmc (4400 john monego ct, dublin, ca) where it was diagnosed that the seat belt latching system was jammed due to an object. Upon inspection, the contact did not see anything inside of the buckle. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.
I have just realized that one of the back seat passenger seat belt (the one at the back of the driver seat) has a delay to get activated when the vehicle is stopped due to an emergency, and in some cas s it does not get activated at all.
Vehicle vibrates during driving speeds above 35 mph.had tired rotated and balanced, still vibrated, replaced tires and received 4 wheel alignment, still shakes bad.when traveling at speeds above 35, seats starts to shake as if you are traveling over a bad bumpy road.this occurs both on city streets and highways.
The vehicle has leaked water in the seams of the back driver side since the initial purchase. It has been repaired nine times by two different dealerships and it still leaks. The vehicle now contains a high moisture reading and was tested by a mold specialist and determined to have mold. The vehicle is currently with the dealership.
The heated seats do not heat up. The car was in the shop for this problem within the 1st 1000k miles. They told me to "be patient" and they'll get warm. The car has been in the shop a total of 7 days for the seats not working and i have yet to get it resolved. Emailed the ceo of gm and got a phone call from a person who stated gm considers the seats are working although they don't work most of the time and when they do get some sort of heat (the shop told me they got one seat to heat up to 87 degrees! wow!) it is intermittent and uneven. The seats haven't worked at all in the last 3 weeks and the average temp hasn't been above 32 degrees. I spent a fortune for this car and i can't get anyone at the dealership nor in detroit to acknowledge this car is a lemon or they have a design flaw since they switched to blowers from heated coils. I am supposing the a/c in the seats won't work when it's 100 outside and i'll be told to be patient again. I've asked for my $$ back and i'll return the car. It's got 4,200k mi and i am so done with this lemon bucket.
Driver's seat was not heating on the bottom cushion, only the back was heating up.took to dealership and after the second time complaining they found a fault in the sensor and replaced.then the back of the seat quit heating.same problem - heating sensor kept shorting.very concern about shorts and faulty circuits.complained to gmc on facebook and got the typical "so sorry" and "we're in contact with the dealer".i had to complain multiple times since december 2015 about poor heating before they would listen.
Vehicle fails to stop properly at low speeds. Brakes become 'hard' and vehicle will roll to a stop. Brake lights appear to have a short and work intermittently.
Brake pedal suddenly got rock hard when i was trying to slow down, our truck just kept going forward, i was helpless in that situation and really thought that accident is unavoidable because i was getting closer and closer to another vehicle, after pressing brake pedal many more times i was able to stop our yukon literally one inch from a car in front of me
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. *dt
There is and had been a known defect with 2015, 2016 and 2017 gmc yukon and denali rear tail lights shorting out. Gmc has not issued a recall, however, many have complained.the led tail light circuit board is cracks which causes a shirt that causes the lights to not work.if you search the internet, it is very clear this is a huge issue with yukon owners. Yet, gmc will not issue a recall. New tail light cost $1,000.this is clearly a manufacturing defect.if you could please look into this, we would all be grateful.i am concerned my young family will be seriously injured if the lights stop working and they are hit in the rear.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving various speeds, the brake pedal was applied and the vehicle failed to stop. The brake pedal had to be pumped several times to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer were it was diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be adjusted. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the brake failure was duplicated and diagnosed that the brake boosters needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.
Rear brake and tail lights do not work intermittently. Sometimes the lights work and sometimes they don't.
On two separate occasions when parking, and driving at a high rate of soeedv( 60 mph)on interstate in sudden stop and go traffic brakes failed to engage after working properly before and again after with more than a month between incidents . The second incident occurred on 12/31/18 after the vehicle had been in for routine oil change and service that included a multi point inspection at the gmc dealership where it was purchased brand new. The vehicle is frequently serviced as required and has tires with good tread . The failure is alarming as it often comes when trying to make a necessary stop and the failure comes out of the blue then returns to normal. This occurrence should be addressed by the manufacturer and should be taken very seriously since the matter is literally a matter of life and death. I will be making an appointment for my vehicle to be checked out and will update the dealership findings .
At slow speed in stop and go traffic the brakes will work one time and the next time i would have to stomp the brake pedal to get the suv to stop it was on a street when it happened i have tried to contact flow gmc of winston-salem multiple times and can't get anyone to talk to me
Drivers side tail light intermittently works, doesn't work all the time. Passenger side brake light stays on continuously, never changes.
While traveling on a highway to work-related camp, upon arrival, co-workers informed me one of my brake lights was out.brakelight worked sporadically before completely going out for about 2 weeks finally being able to show service department.researched cargurus and numerous people reported the circuit cracks and eventually burns out.design flaw which turns into a safety issue!!!recall is needed!!!
While sitting still at a drive through, brake pedal went to floor as if it had no pressure. Had no brakes! no matter how hard i stood on pedal the car would not come to complete stop when rolling. Blew through stop signs and lights because even at 10 mph could not stop vehicle from rolling. Had just got off interstate doing 70 mph. Down hill grade was impossible. Found out that this was a known issue by gm involving failure of vacuum pump booster. Many reports, hopefully not many deaths caused.
Rear left and right brake lights stopped working with no warning while at a stop light in the city. Apparently several gmc yukon 2015 owners are having the same problem and it's an electrical defect with the taillights it's not the bulbs.
2015 gmc yukon. Consumer writes seeking reimbursement for vehicle repairs related to safety recall. *ld
I was driving and with warning suv started accelerating and i brakes wood not work i was not able to stop intill i press hard on the pedal
Power brakes failing at low speeds-in freeway traffic-pulling into driveway requires strong pressing on brake pedal as if the brakes are intermittently loosing power assist
Braking becomes "hard" after braking while moving (e.g. In rush hour traffic or slowly going down a hill).this started while going downhill in an animal reserve. I was inching forward to get better views of the animals. Halfway down the hill the brakes completely failed. I had to literally stand up on the brake, and it still wouldn't stop the car. After taking my foot off the brake for a bit, the problem fixed itself. When i took it to the dealer, they said it was a faulty vacuum pump ($500 repair), but online research says replacing the vacuum pump doesn't solve the problem. Note, this problem continues to persist.
Driving the 2015 gmc yukon, tried to apply brakes, brakes went to floor and no braking available. Had to jump a median in the road to get car stopped.called dealership, they were aware and said drive it there, almost wrecked again pulling into parking ot at dealership. You cannot drive the car like this, very dangerous.being told its a common problem that gmc knows about but will only fix if its 70,000 or 6 years. Not ok, fix the problem my car is still under warranty until 100,000 miles! vacuum pump, vacuum pump belt, brake booster, master cylinder and vacuum pipe all need replacing!!!!!! make a recall before more people are hurt!!!!
Driving at a low speed through a drive through and my brakes failed when i tried to stop before pulling out onto a cross street. Pedal locked, and vehicle continued to roll. After stepping on the brakes a few times they engaged again. Same problem happened again when i was leaving a parking lot, only this time the brakes would not engage after several attempts. I coasted into a potted decorative tree that stopped me, shifted into neutral and back into drive and they began working again. No warning signals appeared on dash, and brakes and brake fluid have been checked and all are satisfactory.
When driving in stop and go traffic or city driving the brake pedal will become hard to push and little to no braking power. Brakes are fine at high way speeds.
Brakes are not stopping the vehicle on short distances as it should. They are doing a clicking kind of noise and can feel pulses in the brake pedal as though abs are trying to activate. I know there is a recall out but is saying my 2015 is not listed yet is doing the same thing that is described in the recall.
Pulling into parking spot low speed braking power was lost.. Hard brake pedal.
The passenger tail light isworking intermittently.the dealer said that the only fix is to buy a new brake light unit @ $650.after searching on line, other options are to send brake light unit off for repair, or purchase after market brake light unit.as many people that are having this same issue, it sure seems like gmc would correct this faulty brake light.
Had an accident in 2018 air bags did not deploy and when tried to stop and pushed on my brake pedal, it was like it froze and i was still moving.i was driving 37mph on a city street when the accident happened.
Brake light failure. First on driver's side then months later on passenger side. Vehicle was in motion. Hundreds of complaints are posted on the internet yet gm will not recall.
When traveling at low speeds, less than 5 mph, the brake pedal will become hard to push and car will not come to a complete stop, but will roll to a stop. This can happen trying to pull into a tight spot or while in a drive-thru or in stop and go traffic or simply your own garage or backing out of a driveway or four way stop, the list can go on and on. It happens on a daily basis. I took to the certified dealer to have the recall performed but apparently the recall will not work on my vehicle as the vacuum pump needs to be replaced. When it first happened was oct 2018 and had about 80k miles on it. It continues to happen and needs to be fixed. It is a 2015 yukon and should not be having this type of problem. It is ridiculous that gmc is aware of the problem but wants to not recall for the part to be replaced but have anyone having the problem come in and see if the software update will take care of the problem. Then at that time lets charge the customer well over $600 to have the pump replaced instead of making it right by the customers. I will be taking my car else where to have the part replaced for half the cost to me. This has been a waste of time and i could had taken else where to begin with months ago, if i would had known the type of recall that gmc would be giving. When you pay more than $60k for a vehicle these type of problems should not happen.
Brakes become hard to push when going below 5mph and doesn't want to stop when pressed. Sometimes you press brakes and push as hard as you can and it just keeps moving until he slowly comes to a stop. It happens when traveling at a low speed or even at a stop and you need to barely move forward or backward. Makes it hard to park in tight spaces, move in traffic, and in a drive-thru. It will happen moving forward or backward - that doesn't matter it also happens when you come to a stop and barely move again and need to stop - brakes become hard and it stops on its own time. I even had it happen when i was at a stop light on downward hill and the car in front of me started moving and suddenly stopped again and my car didn't want to stop. It happens all the time since around nov 2018. It seems to be getting worse
Brakes are unresponsive and stuff brake pedals at low speeds. While driving at very low speeds the brakes will not engage and stop the vehicle. I was pulling into a parking stop and the brakes would not respond unless i stomped on them going less than 5mph. It happens often with the same scenario. Driving at a very low rate of speed and my vehicle will not stop when the brakes are pressed.
The passenger side brake light on my 2015 gmc yukon no longer works.the cost to replace it is over $500.after doing some research on led lights i believe the brake light is faulty or cheaply made and that it should last a lot longer than 3 years and 66,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While at a drive thru with the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard, the brakes failed. The contact had to apply excessive force in order for the vehicle to stop. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to starling chevrolet buick gmc (1001 e irlo bronson memorial hwy, st cloud, fl 34769, phone: (407) 892-5144), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the failure had to be duplicated. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000. The vin was not available.
Had 30,000 miles and my steering colum was making popping noise. The dealership tried to just repair the bearings but it only worked for 2 weeks. They had to replace the whole steering colum. Brakes are squeaking for no reason had les schwann check them and still can't figure it out. My a/c now quit working. Struts in hatch also had to be replaced and passenger window molding is coming off.
At slower speed, brakes become stiff and was unable to stop vehicle. The brakes did not engage all the way to the floor as normal and instead stopped about 1/4 of the way and was solid even when pressing both feet on the brake. Almost rear-ended the vehicle in front of me but since i was at such a slow rate of speedi was able to roll a few feet and the vehicle stopped. I had to turn the vehicle completely off and start it back up and it seemed to work fine but the next time i was in the vehicle at the slow rate of speed, the brakes then again were very hard to press. I do not feel comfortable driving the vehicle until this problem is taken care of. I contacted the local dealer and they told me it would be 5 days until they could get to it - disappointed in that considering the severity of the issue.
Tail light lighting strip spontaneously malfunctioned and stopped working. Vehicle has no light and no brake lighting which could have resulted in auto accident. Within a month the headlight has burned out resulting in a blinker malfunction. Vehicle was on highway when both lights malfunctioned
There was a recall for low break failure it was recall 19v645. I had this done last year and today i almost hit a car in the drive through side the brakes are still doing the same thing going to the floor. They need to replace the faulty vacuum pump. I experience this while backing out and stopping at slow speeds.
On multiple occasions specifically while traveling at low speed rate such as slow moving traffic or pulling in or backing out of parking space.the brakes become hard to push and the brakes do not engage.you must push the brakes very hard to stop. We took to the gm service at our dealership and a brake vacuum pump was replaced.the next day we were driving the vehicle and the brakes failed to stop.thankfully we were in a parking lot and were able to stop against bumper stop.we called the gm service dealership and they arranged for a tow.this is extremely dangerous situation.
When towing a small camper and traveling at slow speeds my brake becomes hard and must be pressed very hard to slowly stop the car. This does not happen all the time but has happened multiple times and is quite scary. The vehicle travels further before stopping than with proper braking which has the potential of putting me in a dangerous situation. Dealer says it is a vacuum pump beginning to fail but there are no pumps available nationwide so i cannot have it repaired!notes about dates and mileage are for the last occurrence and as close as i can recall for each.
When slowly turning into garage, brake pedal became "hard" and required significant foot force to stop the vehicle.the condition has not improved and i will have to tow the vehicle to the dealership for repairs.
Upon pressing the brakes while parking, pedal started vibrating and brake pedal became impossible to press. Pedal continues to remain hard to press for braking.
Vehicle brakes feel like they lock up often i have to push as hard as i can, the dash says "brake assist" or something when they feel like they lock up. I've almost hit cars several times because they lock up like this and theres nothing i can do. Happens often and varying speeds 10-70!
Faulty brake vacuum pump caused vehicle to not brake at slow speeds when attempting to stop in drive thru restaurant and stop light on state route.
Earlier this year i purchased a 2015 gmc yukon denali. After driving it a short amount of time i realized the brake pedal is located significantly higher than the gas pedal. I've come to realize that the ~4inch gap is causing a severe safety hazard, especially in emergency braking situations. My foot, along with others in the post linked below, often gets caught in the large gap between the gas and the brake, especially when moving quickly. There have been many instances to date where the sole of my shoes has gotten stuck under the brake pedal, preventing me from stopping in time. I've narrowly avoided at least 5 accidents, because of this. Fearing that it is a matter of time before it results in a collision i reached out to gmc to see if there was a fix. They responded and said that the pedals are working as designed and said there was nothing that can be done. I'm very disappointed in their response, especially considering the clear safety hazard it creates. It is a large car, requiring more braking distance than most. Any impedance to the process should be taken seriously especially if it is a manufacturer design flaw such as this.similar complaints have been voiced in this online consumer thread. One of many that i found reiterating the problem.http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/gas-brake-pedal-distance.67500/
First note that our recall for increased pedal effort was done on our 2015 gmc yukon 2 months before this incident. Our vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed coming home from mammoth on the 15 freeway. We heard what we describe as a 'buzzing' noise but we couldn't tell if it was our car or another on the freeway it almost sounded like tire tread before you have a blow out. We slowed down a bit (65-70mph) to check our surroundings. A few minutes later we started to lose control of our yukon. I started to unbuckle and climb to my husbands drivers seat because he wasn't responding to our screams and he looked ill. As i was screaming his name he finally says into my ear we have to crash! i panicked and screamed what is happening. He replies 'we have no brakes'! the pedal was as hard as a rock like a brick was underneath it and our car was serving back and forth. As traffic slowed and we prepared to crash into the car in front the center divider opened up and we were able to cruise down it until we slammed e brake on. These models should not be on the road and we could have very easily died or killed another family in the process! absolutely unacceptable on gms part! terrifying!there has been no vacuum pump recall placed on our yukon and it was the vacuum pump that failed which made the brakes fail there was no back up zero brakes with a family of 5 in the car on the freeway! every owner who owns a 2015/2016 should be aware that this can happen to them. It's not just at slow speed. We haven't stepped foot in our car since our kids are scared to death to ride in any car that looks like it.
Brakes get hard when towing my boat and sometimes in stop and go traffic.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving approximately 5 mph, the brake pedal stiffened and the vehicle did not stop when the pedal was depressed. There were nowarning indicators illuminated. The contact used the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to keyes woodland hills buick gmc (6133 topanga canyon blvd, woodland hills, ca 91367) where it was diagnosed that the vacuum pump failed and damaged the entire braking system. The technician replaced the vacuum pump and the entire braking system. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure mileage was 40,500.
Very hard/ stiff brake-pedal.it's very hard to stop the vehicle at any speed. I already replaced the brake pads and the problem still continues, is a very dangerous hazards to the drive the vehicle in that condition. The hard /stiff pedestal is in the city and the highway.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving at low speeds, the brakes failed to engage. The brake pedal became extremely stiff and the emergency brake had to be applied to stop the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to nhtsa. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 47,200.
Brake pedal gets hard in slow moving and stop & go driving causing vehicle to be hard to stop with no break power. This situation gets worse when towing a trailer in traffic an down hill where you need the brake power
*dt
Steering wheel pops when turning steering wheel. 100's of complaints on this issue. Gmc issues tsb to address this issue but they will not cover the cost for the repair. It's a defect in the steering column and a safety issue that needs to be repaired for free
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving various speeds, the steering lost power without warning. The contact stated that the failure began after being repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 18v586000 (steering). The vehicle was taken tobruce lowrie chevrolet (817-264-7776, located at 711 sw loop 820, fort worth, tx 76134) where the recall repair was performed. Hello.. There is a clicking noice coming out it the steering wheel. As well as vibration . It seen that the transfer of it from the front end. The hole steering wheel shakes.
When i get to a red light or a parking spot sometimes the power steering gets hard and it gets hard for me to steer it doesn't do it all the time but i has done it more than 3 times and scared vehicles power steering might stop working one day
I can turn the steering wheel side to sideand the car dies power goes low air conditioning fans blow less and get warnings on dash to roll down drivers window and then back up
The power steering locks upand the display on dash reads power steering losethis has happened 6 times and each time i've had to go rescue my wife this is her car. I found out that i could remove the battery cable from battery to reset the problem but it only last for a short while
During maneuver in parking lot trying to turn around steering got extremely stiff which resulted in me running into side walk, ramp. The only part of my vehicle that was damage was the driver side front wheel. Curb rash beyond repair. At the time i was not aware of vehicle recall and did not file an accident report.
Vehicle steering shaft clicks and pops when wheel is turned, as if steering shaft is binding. Haptic feedback is felt in the steering wheel during each instance of a click or pop. Dealership replaced steering shaft bearing, retainer spring, and seat and problem has returned. Online forums have shown numerous other gm owners experiencing the same problem. Some have reported steering wheel location sensor is catching. Others have reported entire steering shaft must be replaced and claim it is on national back order. This is not only a nuisance, but creates consternation over safety of steering. Issue should be investigated for possible safety recall.
Steering wheel creates a locking/popping/clicking noise while making turns. This is caused by a loosening of the bolt which may affect the wheel bearings creating a potentially dangerous situation. This needs to be addressed before something serious happens. The condition occurs whenever the steering wheel is turned to the left or right, from 0-35 mph.
Piping in the steering column. Not consistent. Happens daily
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving 30 mph, the steering wheel failed to move without warning. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (john l sullivan chevrolet, 350 automall dr, roseville, ca 95661) where it was diagnosed that the eps module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and provided case number: 8-4054084140. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 71,408.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact had to apply force to the steering wheel in order to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The contact was unsure about what part was replaced; however, the failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who was unable to duplicate or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000.
I was driving on heavily-congested i-66 eastbound in the dc metro area (northern virginia) at 70mph. My vehicle alerts me with chime, so i look down at the communication center. I see an alert that says: service power steering assist. I decrease my speed and safely pull over to the right shoulder. I turn off my vehicle to see if the issue would reset. I turned it back on, and it did not. I call my husband to alert him of the issue. I safely reentered the highway, and it took all my might to get my vehicle back on the road. I arrived at work and could barely steer to park my vehicle. I called my dealer to let them know what happened. He looked up my truck by vin and said there was no recall on it; however, there is a recall for the same issue on other vehicles identical to mine. Apparently, there is an issue with this part on more than the vins that are currently listed, and i would like to get this issue resolved asap. I am hoping that the same thing with my a/c condenser does not happen: i paid $1,000 and had to wait 3 months to get it fixed because the part was on backorder, and months later, i received a letter in the mail saying that there is an issue with the part and gm would fix it -- well after the fact -- and that same issue affected so many people.i will admit, this is the very last gm vehicle i will purchase if i have to come out of pocket for this power steering assist issue. Sometimes i wonder if certain personal demographics are tied to these vins after a sale.recall number14v719000recall date11/10/2014componentsteering:electric power assist system
Power steering lost momentarily after operating for 45 minutes and returning when vehicle is shut off for 10 minutes.
The problem i been having is with the steering. When you turn the steering wheel suddenly or just kinda fast the steering assist will lock up and all of the dashboard and ac will shut off and than restarts. Not all the time but about 6 times the engine shut off completely. This is a very serious and dangerous situation that it puts you in this can happen when stationary when you trying to pull out on the highway or at slot speed when trying to turnthis happens all the time
After owning the 2015 yukon denali for 6 months, i have to say this vehicle has its flaws.the 4wd system is in for service already after 9000 miles.not the kind of quality i would have expected on an $80,000 suv.at the moment, the vehicle is only a 2 wd system and seems very difficult to drive and turn.also, the intellilink software is very "buggy" and needs many updates.on several occasions, the entire touchscreen will go blank while driving down the road.this is cause for concern and is a major driving distraction.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving various speeds, the power steering failed without warning. As the failure persisted, the "service power steering drive carefully" warning message illuminated. The contact had to place the vehicle into park and shift into another gear in order for the steering wheel to unlock and resume normal operation. The contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 18v586000 (steering). The contact was informed by a mechanic to take the vehicle to a dealer. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the power steering failed and it was difficult to turn the steering wheel. There were no warning indicators illuminated before or after the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the power steering failed.

The power steering did not work when the contact attempted to move from a parked position. The vehicle was driven to don shetler buick chevrolet (19400 crowley eunice hwy, crowley, la 70526 (337) 514-4309) who thought they would do the recall repair but they found out that the power steering was disconnected. They dealer charged the contact for two hours of labor since those repairs were not included in the recall. The repairs had been completed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 72,000.
The exterior doors on the driver side made noise while in motion and we discoveredthe door jams had become loose or detached in spots.this is both driver side doors of a 4-door vehicle.we took it to the dealer and their invoice is quoted as follows "install left fr applique.replaced the left front and left rear applique".the total cost was $164.23.i am furious this wasn't under warranty or a recall.this is a 2 year old $60,000 vehicle and i'm upset we had to pay to replace these parts.i have contacted gmc who noted and recommended i contact nhta, which is the purpose of this complaint.the dealer told us they have replace many of these and it's not a recall item, but it should be.thus, please note and investigate this further for possible recall and reimbursement.thank you.
Lift gate is having trouble opening
There is a water leak in the roof, on the driver side, right above the a-pillar.this has happened on multiple occasions during a heavy rain storm.the leak occurs regardless of whether or not the vehicle is in motion.after taking it to the dealership for service, i was informed there was a manufacturer defect which could cause some gapping in the vehicle body roof ditch driver side, which may allow water to leak through.i am concerned for my family's safety as this situation could create mold and mildew in the interior liner.also, it could potentially lead to a very dangerous situation if the gaps/voids in the bodybecome larger, allowing water to leak through at a greater velocity during high speeds or on the freeway.i was also informed that this is a very common issue on multiple vehicles from gm during the selected model year.dealer attempted to service vehicle multiple times but there is still a water leak.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While drivingat unknown speeds, the exterior window trim was falling off. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (lafontaine cadillac buick gmc, 4000 w highland rd, highland, mi 48357) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle trim needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue, but did not offer any assistance. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 52,000.
Window appliqus on both sides of vehicle became loose and were flapping while driving.this was concurrent with a very noisy cabin, likened to the sound of a window being open while traveling at highway speeds.these appliques were previously replaced by dealer after incidentally being found loose.the noisy environment in cabin is very loud and distracting, causing driver and passengers toget headaches and causing driver to become distracted.
While driving approximately 60 mph on a deserted flat stretch of road surrounded by farmland, my sunroof suddenly exploded. The screen was open to provide light but the glass was shut. No other cars were nearby nor were any hills where a rock could fly from. It was just sudden. It sounded like a loud explosion and suddenly glass was flying all over the car. Fortunately, i didn't crash the car. Myself and my son who was in the passenger seat, we were both covered in glass.
The onyx black paint is fading away through the clear coat on the hood and roof.the suv has 66,700 miles.ive noticed this problem on other black gm suv's.
The vehicle has leaked water in the seams of the back driver side since the initial purchase. It has been repaired nine times by two different dealerships and it still leaks. The vehicle now contains a high moisture reading and was tested by a mold specialist and determined to have mold. The vehicle is currently with the dealership.
The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon. While driving 60 mph, the exterior door applique covers rattled violently. The contact was informed to contact the manufacturer to report a non-safety related defect. The contact also stated that the rear passenger side brake light failed intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,600.
Door latch in the locked position while door is open. Car computer thought the door was closed and door was open. Happened two times in one day. Very serious problem is driver is allowed to drive with children in the back seat with no warning that the door did not close.

At 38,000 (2018)this vehicle required a front left and rear right shock replacement due to locking up.at 61,000 miles both rear shocks locked again.this time not repaired under warranty and costing $1500 to fix.gmc care offered me $100 service voucher and no assistance on their faulty products. The gmc dealer offered me a $1500 coupon good for my next purchase or possibly$1500 toward when my front shocks have issues. What??? the $1500 coupon is good for 1 year toward the purchase of a new gmc. Everyone needs to call gmc care to complain.1-866-790-5600 so we get reimbursed for an obvious recallable item.no vehicle less then 5 years old should need shocks replaced twice.this ismy third gmc yukon denali and my last due to gmc not working with me.does anyone think a vehicles shocks should need to be replace twice in a 5 year life??
My 2015 yukon denali had a complete suspension failure on all four tires at 67,535 miles. I was told this was way too soon to be having suspension problems on this, but when diagnosed, that was the issue. I was told by my auto repair shop that it was unsafe to drive in that condition, as the steering could fail to work correctly when going through tight turns and braking. They said that it could possibly skid due to not having any shocks or struts functioning. When the vehicle was lifted, the wheels did not lower from the carriage at all due to complete failure of the suspension system. We replaced the rear shocks and front struts to address this issue. This problem did not occur all at once, but rather over a period of a couple weeks when the vehicle started to ride rougher on each tire. All four went out within a span of two weeks time.

About 2 weeks ago the vehicle had an excellent ride, then all of a sudden it had no suspension at all. It rides extremely rough and i would say very unsafe to operate

The air conditioning has failed in both of the yukon's we own so we decided to take one of them to a friends body shop who discovered that the condenser design is assembled to the vehicle frame with the pipe entering the condenser in completely rigid state meaning that when there is flex to the vehicle frame the pipe does not move and thus cracks overtime from the condenser, making the condenser leak and rendering the air conditioning useless.we were traveling in south carolina with a 11 month old, a 2 year old and a ten year old.we pulled over so my boyfriend could run into a piggly wiggly to grab some groceries and i stayed in the car with the kids.the air was running and within minutes the car suddenly became very warm and uncomfortable and i immediately checked the ac and it was running but no cold air was coming out.in fact the car was becoming like a sauna.our kids get very car sick.before i could get all three of the out of the car the 2 year old had already vomited.needless to say the rest of the trip was absolutely horrible to go anywhere by car and the drive home was miserable with a puking 2 year old as we had to drive with the windows down for fresh air but it was steamy and uncomfortable.when people think of safety issues they normally think of brakes, engines, etc while driving.when your ac goes out and you have very young children that you normally would not put in that situation such as a new born it presents a safety issue and should be addressed by gm.the current air conditioning system has a 100% failure rate before 100k miles and in some cases much sooner than that.both of our vehicles had it happen before 60k miles.the reason gm wont get behind it is the labor cost to fix it.you have to remove the entire front end, the lights and the front frame in order to get to the condenser.poor design for service.
Ac quit working & dealer said it's a bad condenser, which part is unavailable due to national back order.can't tell me when they can get part to fix. Obviously this is a major defect on gm behalf & they're doing nothing about it. Not even a recall!
Air conditioner condenser gave out in the heat of the summer on a yukon denali with 42,000 miles. I have had no air conditioning in 90 plus degree heat
The led brake lights on my passenger side are malfunctioning and it seems to be a common theme for yukon owners. I have called 5 different dealerships and they are all out of this part because it keeps failing
A few days ago i got out of my truck to retrieve a package left at my garage door. I put my vehicle in park walked around my car door walked by the front of my truck to retrieve the package and all the sudden i was knocked down. I did not realize what happened until i looked up and saw my truck driving towards me. I scream for help as i crawled backwards to safety. A few minutes later i realize the truck was no longer moving and by the grace of god my wheels were turned slightly and it had stopped because it hit the side of my house. It took a couple of days for the shock to wear off of what could have happened to me or my kids if they were playing outside. My husband and i spoke to a couple of people including a certified mechanic and we found out that this has happened before on the 2015 yukons. I am attaching pictures of what we found from gmc along with my truck.
Brake light is will not working on passenger side
A/c condenserleaking
While driving approximately 60 mph on a deserted flat stretch of road surrounded by farmland, my sunroof suddenly exploded. The screen was open to provide light but the glass was shut. No other cars were nearby nor were any hills where a rock could fly from. It was just sudden. It sounded like a loud explosion and suddenly glass was flying all over the car. Fortunately, i didn't crash the car. Myself and my son who was in the passenger seat, we were both covered in glass.
After no apparent impacts or external damage, three different lights have failed or become endangered by wetness. First a tail light assembly had to be replaced for $827, then the 3rd brake light for $280, and now there is wetness visible inside a headlight (costing something like $900 to replace).
My a/c started blowing hot air a few weeks ago. I took it in to my gmc service department, and they advised me it was the condenser that needs to be replaced, however that part is on back order indefinitely. I have since spoke with several people with vehicles like mine who have also had this same result with their a/c condenser. I would like this matter reviewed as an official recall.
Gm knows they have bad air conditioner condenser in 2015-2016 models.yet still no recall done.many complaints and nothing being done about it.new vehicles and vehicles just out of warranty.this is there problem, so much parts are on continous backorder.these are $50,00.00 vehicles and i should not be stuck with this.i am contacting the better business bureau and having the other 6 cases i know of as well
Onstart not working properly.cannot access gps and/or certain functions in the gmc application due to no antenna signal being obtained through intellilink system.onstar mirror has a red light and gps has a cross hatch through it.we have activated onstar profile and subscription.i know their has been a recall on this antenna in the past but we just purchased the vehicle.
The a c compressor leaks allowowing freon into the air and the cab were the driver and occupants breathe it.
On july 13 of 2018 ac in my vehicle started to blow hot air, i was with my 3 year old, during this day it was 98 degrees out, my husband took the car to repair shop and they found a leak in the condenser, apperantly this is a known problem for manygm vehicle with 5.3 l v8 engine from 2014 and up, when we called local gm dealers they were aware of the ac problems on these cars, we were told that ac lines develop a crack and freon leaks or ac condenser starts leaking freon and in our case it's a condenser, after doing a research on the internet and reading on the gm forumsmany owners have these leaks due to bad design of ac components, it's obvious that gm should issue s recall because too many vehicles have same issue, and since our warranty has expired 6,000 miles ago we have to pay over $1000 for a repair, i hope your organization will do something about this problem, this should be a call for a recall.
When driving at highway speeds in the rain, water pools on the drivers side and passenger side door window at the bottom front of the window blocking the driver's view of either side view mirror. I went to the dealer in carson city nv, and service director stated they had this problem with trucks since 2007 and there has been no solution.
Rear tail lamp at brake light work intermittently. It is known that the circuitry connecting the leds break.
My wife and i were driving on the parkway at about 65mph when we heard what sounded like a gunshot in the vehicle.we pulled over to the side of the road only to find out that the sunroof literally exploded on the car.all of the glass that was left was bowed upward which would indicate that the sunroof explode outward and nothing hit the roof of the car.when we brought the car to gmc they claimed that something must have hit the sunroof to make it explode which i know did not happen.needless to say, gmc is unwilling to cover the damages to the car under the warranty.
Ac is not working.only hot air blows out.dealer is telling us that the compressor is out and is commonly out for gm products from this year.the part is back ordered with no date available that it will be available.apparently it is being redesigned.we have been told it may be months.summer heat is coming as early as this week.with 4 children, i find it unsafe to have such a hot car.17 people at our dealer alone are waiting for the same part.please get gm to fix the issue.
Air conditioner has failed for the third time in 18 months we've owned this vehicle.first repair 18 months ago resulted in "defective air conditioning lines" that were leaking, and was replaced by dealership (covered by aftermarket extended warranty).second failure occurred june 2018, and same dealership stated compressor developed cracks and had to be replaced (fortunately still under aftermarket extended warranty).now, beginning of november 2018, system has failed for a third time and in less than 5 months from the latest "repair", and unfortunately my extended aftermarket warranty has expired.i can understand a system failure once, have a difficult time with a second failure of the same system within 3 years, but question the dealership's ability to diagnose and fix a problem after a third failure in as many years of the same system.absolutely love the vehicle itself, but questioning gm's reliability and customer service.i purchased a new escalade and loaded silverado from this dealership new and had a few minor problems with those vehicles that the dealership fixed.after y ears of owning those, purchased a newer model escalade and had several problems that seemed unusual for the age of the vehicle.i've had my current yukon in the dealership service center four times in the 22 months i've owned it, and have been disappointed in the apparent downturn in gm reliability and willingness to stand behind their cars.in addition to the ac problem, have almost simultaneously encountered a passenger side led tail light failure, which at an approximate $750 repair means that on a 3 year old vehicle, i apparently need to budget $250 per year to ensure my tail lights work.again, love the ride and handling of this vehicle, but since reliability appears to be an issue with gm, may have to begin looking at another brand of vehicle that is more reliable.
Tail light keep going off, dealer wont fix it under warranty, they $700 when its a manufacture issue, something wrong that keep burning the led lights.
Air conditioner condenser went out and it cost $944.00 on a vehicle that is only 3 years old and has only 65000 miles on it.
The ac condenser stopped working.this is the second time it has been replaced.first under warranty, second is not.it is funny how every person at dealership service department knows the condenser is a faulty product, bit gmc won't recall.even non gmc repair shops know this.
The air conditioner condenser failed 1st week of june 2017 and the part is not available any where in the country. The vehicle is dangerous to drive when it rains because the windows fog over and are unable to clear with air system,
The vehicle has leaked water in the seams of the back driver side since the initial purchase. It has been repaired nine times by two different dealerships and it still leaks. The vehicle now contains a high moisture reading and was tested by a mold specialist and determined to have mold. The vehicle is currently with the dealership.
My vehicle has a crack in the combi-cooler as described in nhsta reference number: n162080780 and gm special coverage adjustment 17336. In the documentation for the special coverage it states that the coverage period is 5 years of 60,000 miles based on the date the vehicle entered service. This vehicle was a gm executive vehicle until purchased with 15102 miles via the gm pep program. Gm is not including my vehicle even though it is clearly stated in the coverage since their systems do not account for a vehicle that enters service with this many miles. I believe this is a violation of their agreement with nhtsa and request that nhtsa investigate the total number of air conditioning condenser unit failures used in such vehicles to identify if a full fledged recall is warranted.
Vehicle has a vibration when going between 60-70 miles per hour on highway.the vibration starts and stops over and over again. Vibration last about two seconds each time. Took vehicle to dealer they said the issue was caused by recall that gmc was trying to fix. Currently no part is available to fix vehicle. Instructed to just keep driving vehicle with the vibration until a part is issued.
The sunroof of my 2015 gmc yukon spontaneously shattered while driving down the highway at normal speed with a few normal sized vehicles and no overpasses nearby.
The air conditioner condenser failed. The part is on backorder and i have no air conditioning for an undetermined amount of time. No eta on the part and they will replace the part with the same faulty model. No loaner car, no airconditioning.
My lift gate failed to close while at grocery store. It was stuck in raised /open position. Could not close manually. I had to drive home and to gmc service center w/ lift gate raised. There is a gmc recall bulletin on file14300a but my vehicle vin # is not tagged, inoperable lift gate. I was advised by service manager, my lift gate motor had to be replaced. This is my 3rd chevy/gmc suv and my first two suburbans had over 250kmiles and never had an issue w/ my lift gate. My yukon has only 114k miles, well taken care of and the lift gate fails me. The existing recall should apply to my repairs, estimate cost $700.00.
Crack developed at edge of windshield at deicer strip.no apparrent cause such as rock damage.gmc will not cover this repair under warranty.my wife's 2015 subaru outback received a warranty extension notice for this very defect stating that "during the mfg process certain compounds used to adhere the deicer to the windshield created a condition where the glass became more susceptible to cracking following a minor wound."i'm quite certain this defect is the problem with my yukon.is it possible that subaru and gmc windshields are provided by the same sub-contractor?
When driving at highway speeds in the rain, water pools on the drivers side and passenger side door window at the bottom front of the window blocking the driver's view of either side view mirror. I went to the dealer in carson city nv, and service director stated they had this problem with trucks since 2007 and there has been no solution.
2015 gmc yukon xl had been in service less than 4 months, only 5000 miles.driver was driving 65 mph in moderate traffic on interstate 15 when the sunroof spontaneously shattered into tiny pieces.no airborne rocks or other debris was present that could have struck the window.about 4pm, weather was sunny, temperature mid 90's.the sunroof cover was closed which prevented most of the glass shards from entering the vehicle, but did scatter glass shards across the interstate.
On february 10, 2016, we were driving on i-25 headed to arizona for a vacation.as we were just on the outskirts of santa fe, nm, we heard a loud explosion and it sounded like our entire car was blowing up.we were driving at 75 mph and there were no other cars close to us.we started hearing glass bouncing around on the sunroof curtain and realized that it was our sunroof that had exploded.we pulled into the first exit in santa fe and checked the car and the glass appeared to have exploded upwards.we drove to the next gas station and pulled out all the large pieces and vacuumed up what we could of the small pieces.needless to say, we had to end our vacation and we turned around and drove home the same day.all we could hear on the way home was glass bouncing around and the road noise.we contacted gmc and they said we should claim through our insurance.eventually, they relented and replaced the sunroof.i have done research on the internet and it appears that this is happening with many makes of vehicles not just gmcs.it appears there are some serious issues with sunroofs.if pictures are needed, we took several and i would be happy to provide.thank you for addressing the issues with sunroofs.i no longer feel safe in this car and this is a vehicle that we purchased for road trips as we have two other vehicles which are our every day vehicles.it was the scariest thing we have ever experienced.
During maneuver in parking lot trying to turn around steering got extremely stiff which resulted in me running into side walk, ramp. The only part of my vehicle that was damage was the driver side front wheel. Curb rash beyond repair. At the time i was not aware of vehicle recall and did not file an accident report.
