Dashboard is cracked in upper left corner of the passenger side airbag.the cracked part is very sharp and will likely year the airbag if it deploys durning a crash, which is a huge safety concern.also, it seems very brittle and the force of the airbag deployment could send flying shrapnel into passengers faces.

The air bag light is on,andsteeringsound.

The top cover of the dashboard has a crack on the hump above the instrument cluster and on the passenger side.i am concerned that this will affect the performance of the air bag...god forbid that the vehicle may be involved in an accident and the air bag does not deploy correctly.that could be the difference between life and death.the vehicle is a 2009 gmc yukon, with all the technology and advances gm has made, i would assume that a safety issue of this degree would warrant a recall or immediate attention and responsibility from gm.

Dash cracked on corner of where the passenger airbag is located.this is a huge safety concern.i'm afraid that it will either prevent the airbag from deploying in a crash, or tear the airbag upon deployment, or worse, shoot projectiles of dash toward my children who are passengers.

Takata inflator recall. Crack in dashboard near passenger side airbag. Service airbag light comes on when vehicle is started. No recall on this vehicle based only on the fact of where it was purchased.car is in florida approx. 4 months in winter. Even in new york during the rest of the year the sun shining thru the window creates severe heating of dashboard . Vehicle is not garaged. My main concern is whether this car should be driven

Takata recall ' i see from airbagrecall.com that there is an active recall on my vehicle since may 27, 2016 and i just received a notice via snail mail from tk holdings. I called chuck nash auto group in san marcos, tx at 512-396-7881 and mrs. Victoria told me that they have no information from gm on my case. Nothing happened to my vehicle as of now but the airbag icon light on the dashboard is flashing each time i turn the engine on. Can i have a free checkup and eventually a free replacement? thank you.

The dashboard which is made of hard plastic is cracking near and touching the passenger air bag.it will cause shards of thick hard plastic to be projected into the passenger compartment if the airbag deploys.also large pieces will also be interjected into the passenger compartment in the case of any accident because they are loose.

Crack near passenger airbag, above steering wheel and another starting to form near the initial crack on the passenger side. Called gm customer service and they pretend they have never heard of the problem, though there are hundreds comments on forums/groups online. I am concerned about mine and my family's safety in the event of a collision where the airbags may deploy. Will they deploy properly? will the shards of plastic from the faulty dash cause further injury? gm needs to issue a recall for these vehicles and do the right thing for their consumers by repairing the dashes.

I have called to get appointment for new air bags 2 years ago and they keep putting me off , my local gmc dealer will not fix my air bags.

Takata recall does not have a remedy for the defect.my car is 8 years old and parked outside in los angeles.therefore, receives a lot of sun which is noted to cause the air bag damage.

Takata airbag: this airbag issue was supposed to be resolved by august 2017 and it has not been. Mean while i am still driving with a potentially dangerous airbag.

The nhtsa recall #16v381 was issued may 27, 2016 creating a gm recall #2049151. Gm's status is "incomplete. Remedy not yet available". Its now 4 1/2 years later. To ensure the safety of the public, a decision must be made as to whether or not there is a safety issue/risk relating to the takata airbag inflators.

The dashboard is cracked around the airbag. In the event of an airbag deployment the sharp shards of plastic could puncture the airbag or the shards of plastic could become projectiles.

I have brought my vehicle into the shop a few times, no fix available, i have contacted gm customer service they stated they have no idea when this can be fixed, my dashboard has cracked around the driver side airbag section - they say not to worry.

A major problem with dashboard cracking in several places is a safety concern if air bags are deployed.gm will not recognize the defect.many complaints and no recall issued for this safety concern.dashboard is cracked in several places directly behind airbag.

The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon. While driving 35 mph, the contact crashed into the driver's side door of another vehicle, which then rolled over. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact sustained injuries to the left foot, left knee, a concusion, chest pains, and a black eye. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the failure was diagnosed. The driver of the other vehicle also sustained minor injuries. The contact had not received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags), which was associated with the vin. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000.

'tamara recall' recall on passenger air bag in 2016.never got it fixed because they never had a replacement.even on 8/29/2018 checked to see if they had a replacement for the 2009 yukon which no.as of today, january 08, 2019 no replacement for the passenger airbag so far.

Dashboard is failing extensively due to an unknown manufacturing defect.areas of failure include up to and around the portion which says "air bag" which is creating a significant safety concern.plastic fragments are loose on cracked areas of dash.this presents a possible high-speed projectile hazard if air bag(s) are deployed and catch on loose/cracked areas during deployment.vehicle has not been involved in any incidents.dashboard surrounding airbag cracked while the vehicle was stationary and continues to develop additional cracks as time goes on.finally, dashboard is vibrating while driving at highway speeds causing additional cracks and fragments of plastic to come loose.discussions with mechanics indicate that entire dash may come loose and fall in to drivers or passenger under normal driving conditions, causing loss of control in addition to possible air-bag projectile hazard.two local gmc dealers indicated that this is not a covered repair and that the consumer should replace the dash on their own if there is a safety concern by the consumer.

Noticed the dash cracking by the air bag in september 2020 and now is cracking on driver side hump behind steering wheel.

February 2014 i had noticed 3 cracks on my dash board, 2 of them being right by the passenger airbag. I have contacted gm to fix the issue before anything bad happens with the air bags. They want me to pay $900 to have this fixed but it is a safety issue. I am in constant worry if my air bags will deploy at any point in time due to the cracks. Or if i happen to get into an accident will my air bags not deploy or will there be a defect in the air bags due to plastic cutting the air bag open on deploy. Gm is very aware of this problem as i know 500 cases already with this same issue as they all have the same concern.

Concern about the safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants.

2009 gmc yukon experienced complete electrical failure while driving 30 mph.everyday for the last two weeks my yukon experiences intermittent electrical failure as if you turned the car off and removed the key, then it the power comes right back within a few seconds. This posses a significant danger to me and my family due to, headlights, tail lights, braking lights, turn signals are all off. When i turn the yukon off the electrical system fails once i turn the key to off and remove key.

The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon. While the vehicle was parked, the battery failed without warning. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the chassis electronic control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v614000 (electrical system). The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Right mirror does not fold back when button is activated.

When the vehicle is placed in park, key turned to off position and the keys are removed from the ignition, the engine remains running and engaged until the driver or passenger door is opened.when the door is opened, then the engine cuts off.

I'm writing to report a safety issue with 2007 to 2012 gmc yukon doorlocks.i own a 2009 gmc yukon (44,xxx miles), and recently the reardriver side door stopped locking electronically which prohibits theautomatic locking feature from working after putting the vehicle ingear.this bypasses an important safety feature when small children areriding in the back seat and there is no warning signal to the driver ofsuch failure.this is a well documented (through numerous on-line owner forums) issuefor this model in this year range and it appears that gm has not takenresponsibility for recalling these vehicles to address this criticalsafety feature failure.i believe the root cause is either poor design, or sub-par quality onthe lock actuating device, as it seems most reported incidents lead toreplacement of the lock actuator (sometimes replacing the same actuatormultiple times).as a consumer and parent, i'm requesting that you investigate this issueand hold gm accountable for delivering an inferior quality product forsuch an important consumer safety feature.

While car was in motion the car became limp/slow as the engine would slow down.we have had 2 instances while driving the car will reduce speed to a haunt. The car both times was not able to be driven and needed to be towed. First one the modules melted due to the hybrid battery and other was a failed throttle.we are now dealing with melted spark plugs which were all completely replaced and failed again one month later and while the car was driving it came to a complete stop while the engine shut down again!

Electrical issues.. Lights dimming, then engine started to stall while driving and engine lifters started ticking and is getting louder... No fault codes were found by dealer when checked... And cannot reduplicate elec. Issue and stall .. But has happened 3 different times over a 2 yr period and now the lifters are clacking very badly...my vehicle gets reg. Oil changes etc. And according to all the forums this is a major problem with this vehicle... A tsb bulletin has been announced by gmc but no recall.. Are they waiting til someone dies for a lawsuit.

I came out to a cracked dashboard this morning. The crack is right around the airbag and i'm concerned the cracked dash can either punture the airbag if deployed or send plastic peices flying at a high rate of speed

Well the check engine light came on then the oil light came on i change the oil is still on the battery keeps dying i've already bought three new batteries nothing is working i'll still come out the car is dead check engine light keeps popping on and off the wheel the wheel thing keeps popping in and off i bought new tires it's still popping on and off i just don't know what's wrong

The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a loud tapping sound with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed as displacement on demand (dod) due to camshaft failure, after the engine was disassembled. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall related to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon. While the contact was driving approximately between 30-40 mph, the reduce engine power warning message displayed on the instrument panel. The stabilitrak warning light also illuminated. The engine completely stalled and restarted. The vehicle resumed with slight engine power at the speed of 10 mph. The failure occurred four times and it was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated poor quality of fuel was dispensed in the fuel tank. The computer software was updated; the mass air flow sensor and throttle body unit were cleaned. The failure recurred two weeks after the repair. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the throttle body was replaced. The failure mileage was approximately mileage was 21,910.updated 07/08/11updated 07/20/11

Yukon started dying at stop lights. Check engine light came on. Started to pull out from intersection almost got t-boned when vehicle died. There was a recall for some2009 yukons for fuel pump control module butgmc said this vin was not included. Sounds like it is a bigger problem then they are admitting. I guess someone else has to die before something is done! towed vehicle to mechanic had to replace the fuel pump control module. $690.00. Should be able to get reimbursed for a defected part! recall should be expanded.

The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while reversing out of a parking space, the vehicle suddenly stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact indicated that the vehicle could not be restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the failure was due to water being present inside the fuel pump control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the nhtsa campaign number 09v154000( fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 110,999.

The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where a code for the fuel system showed upon inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was made aware of nhtsa campaign number: 09v154000 (fuel system gasoline) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I placed the vehicle in park on a level surface, i left the yukon running and i got out and walked my great niece to a building about 30 feet from the vehicle.. I then turned to see the yukon backing up on this flat surface,i ran to try and catch it but it hit a building and then came forward at me. I had to jump out of it's way and then chase it down. When i jumped in and hit the brake i then noticed it was in m1. I took it to a local gmc dealer who checked the transmission but reported finding nothing. I am now afraid of this car. How do you know when it will vibrate or jump from park to reverse again. This needs checking into. This yukon went both backward & forward.

Transmission dipstick tube broken.not sure when it happened.it was noticed by my father about a week ago when he was looking things over.i just got the truck used from a dealer in sept.

Passenger seat belt was on, when i stopped the vehicle and the passenger attempted to unbuckle the seat belt it would not unlatch. After a few jiggles it came unlocked and now will not latch. When trying to buckle up, it slides in but doesn't lock.

The air bag light is on,andsteeringsound.

Complete loss of power steering assist, after crossing over a set of railroad tracks.service power steering message displayed on dash.after turning vehicle off and back on, the power steering worked fine.happened a 2nd time after hitting a pot hole.vehicle is in motion on busy street, and complete loss of steering assist makes this very unsafe

Lose steering

Driving approximately 40 mph entering a turn, the power steering failed, causing the vehicle to go off road, and damage the lower front portion of the bumper (minor). My wife is uncomfortable driving the vehicle, even we we have it repaired. There was no warning, until after the failure, when the on board diagnostic system, stated "service power steering".

Dash board cracked on the passenger side top left of the air bag...air bag is now 1/2 higher than the sagging dash. This is now a safety issue because air bag is no longer properly supported.

The chrome plating on the front passenger door handleis separating from the door handle at the top of the handle, and is extremely sharp (caused cut to fingers on right hand);after this has happened i searched online for possible gm action to resolve and founds reports online of this being reported for 2007 and 2008 gm vehicles (although mine is a 2009).investigation was supposedly started but cannot find results of this.spoke to my gmc dealer and they had no advisor's to rectify and would do so at cost.

Dash cracked on corner of where the passenger airbag is located.this is a huge safety concern.i'm afraid that it will either prevent the airbag from deploying in a crash, or tear the airbag upon deployment, or worse, shoot projectiles of dash toward my children who are passengers.

Dash is cracking close to air bags. Concerned it may not deploy or will get punctured by the exposed crack.

The door handles on both the driver and passenger side have become so sharp that when trying to open the door they cutyour finger.both my wife and i have had our fingers cut from slight to very bloody. This appears that it is an ongoing problem that gm refuses to deal with.

Dashboard above instrument cluster cracked without incident.just noticed one day there was a large crack and not aware of how it could have happened since it was not in any accidents.concerned that the sharp pieces could injure passengers in an accident.also concerned the air bags could be affected.

Just purchased and the dash busted over my steering wheel. Cheap plastic.

Dashboard developed cracks along the corners of the passenger airbags, then another crack appeared over the driver's side hood of the instrument panel.

I came out to a cracked dashboard this morning. The crack is right around the airbag and i'm concerned the cracked dash can either punture the airbag if deployed or send plastic peices flying at a high rate of speed

The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon. The contact stated the dashboard was cracked near the passenger side air bag, by the front windshield, and over the steering column. The contact stated the cracks were extremely severe and getting worst. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 96,000.

Dashboard has cracked immediately adjacent to airbag and above left side of instrument cluster. Concern for safety upon collision and/or airbag deployment.

Our 2009 gmc yukon dashboard has cracks near the airbag mechanism that could lead to injuries related to shrapnel should my family be involved in an accident. Evidently gmc is not accepting responsibility for the replacement of the dashboard and instead making the customer responsible for replacement costs.

The dash is cracked in several places, including a crack at the edge of the air bag compartment.i took it to the dealer for repair and they quoted a repair price of 1800.they admitted that a cracked dash has been an issue in gmc yukons.the cracks began in 2013 and i had just owned the vehicle for 2 years.i take exceptionally good care of it and the rest of the vehicle is in excellent condition.the crack is concerning around the air bag because if the air bag deployed during an accident, there is a strong possibility of sharp debris causing injury.

Cracked dashboard, occurred while parked, unoccupied. It is getting worse daily.

Cracked dashboard

Crack dash by the airbag. The dash has a lot of cracks and some are by the passenger airbag

There is crack on the dashboard from the upper left side of the air bag compartment. The dash is also cracked above where the steering wheel and instrument panel is. Vehicle was stationary.

Gas pedal sticks wide open and have to try to pull it back up and sometimes it takes a while it get it unstuck.this has happened two different times in one month. The vehicle was in motion on a city street and luckily not traffic in front of us and we were going straight.

A few weeks ago the dashboard began to crack on my 2009 gmc yukon.i purchased the vehicle brand new on 10/10/09 and had also purchased an extended warranty which expire 10/2015.warranty expired anout 3 months ago and this happened.i went online to find that many folks are having the same problem and it's a safety issue with an active lawsuit.gmc should issue a recall to repari this faulty dashboard to avoid further injury of plastic flying in passengers faces if an airbag ever does deploy.

Dash has 4 cracks. 1 at each of the corners of the dash around the airbag closest to the windshield.if it deploys pieces of plastic will fly everywhere.the other two crack are above the instrument panel.

The rear lift gate will slam shut once open because the hydrolics fail.

I have two cracks in my dash.one on the driver side and one that goes directly to the airbag.

Dash is cracked in numerous places for no reason.

My dashboard is cracked in 2 places after already being replaced by the dealership once. The dashboard was cracked when the vehicle was purchased and now it is cracked again in the same exact spot. My service airbag light is also on.

The dashboard which is made of hard plastic is cracking near and touching the passenger air bag.it will cause shards of thick hard plastic to be projected into the passenger compartment if the airbag deploys.also large pieces will also be interjected into the passenger compartment in the case of any accident because they are loose.

A major problem with dashboard cracking in several places is a safety concern if air bags are deployed.gm will not recognize the defect.many complaints and no recall issued for this safety concern.dashboard is cracked in several places directly behind airbag.

The dash is cracking on both the driver and passenger sides. This is a noted safety issue since an airbag deployment may create flying broken parts from the dash. This is a well reported issue that has not yet been covered by a recall. Over 3700 owners have joined a facebook group to address this issue: https://www.facebook.com/groups/gmdashcrack/?fref=nf. Dealers all over the country have failed to address this defect and serious safety issue. I am concerned for my safety and the safety of my passengers.

The vehicles dash has cracked in multiple locations. The first crack has occurred in the corner of the passenger side airbag introducing a potential structural and debris concern upon an airbag deflation. The second crack has occurred directly above the steering wheel all the way to the top of the dash panel.

Top left hand corner of dashboard above the passenger air bag cover is cracking. My gmc has 26000 miles and has always been parked in a garage.i've contacted gm customer service and the dealership.

The vehicles dash has cracked in multiple locations. The first crack has occurred in the corner of the passenger side airbag introducing a potential structural and debris concern upon an airbag deflation. The second crack has occurred directly above the steering wheel from the defrost air vents all the way to the top of the dash panel. A third has arose just to the left of the second, again traveling from the vent to the top of the contours above the instrument panel. This is not only a matter of concern for safety, but not the level of quality one would expect from a vehicle with a sticker price north of $50k. There is no longer structure integrity within the dash and it now bounces embarrassingly with every bump in the road. Very unhappy with the quality of this defective dash.

Noticed the dash cracking by the air bag in september 2020 and now is cracking on driver side hump behind steering wheel.

My dashboard is cracking, cannot be fix and isn't my fault.

Cracked dash by passenger side airbag. Happened while driving on the highway.

The dashboard is cracked in several places. The worst cracks are over the instrument panel but there are cracks touching the air bag cover. It seems i find a new crack about every few months. Besides being a faulty piece of equipment i feel this could be a safety issue if pieces of the plastic dash should start falling into the electronic components under the dash.
