Takata recall , received numerous mailers telling me i had to file on this website ,"no later than 12-27-2017" if i owned a veh. Listed to be repaired, there has been no accident yet !

On 06/07/2019 i purchased my 2008 gmc yukon slt in a private sale with 43k miles on it hardly driven, a well taken care of suv no cracks in the dash now a month and 1000 miles later i am driving and notice it has a crack in the driver's side of the dash 4" long near the seam in front of the instrument cluster, and a crack in the passenger's side of the dash 2" long at the corner of the airbag. I immediately saw this as a safety issue. The takata air bag inflators are under recall with a status of remedy not yet available according to the carfax i ran and at safercar.gov making the dash a ticking time bomb with shrapnel as a bonus to possibly injure or kill myself or my wife in the event the air bags deploy the dealership quoted a ridiculous repair price and admitted that a cracked dashes are an issue with the yukon. A dash cover is nothing but a band aid on a broken leg. I want gm to issue a recall.

Tamara recall- recall states it is incomplete. Remedy not yet available. I am afraid to drive this car in fear of my safety and the safety of my passengers. I have called gm and was given a case number but they are unwilling to fix my vehicle. My gm case # 94986338065

I am reporting that gmc will not replace the faulty air bags in my 2008 yukon.i am the original owner, and have repeatedly taken the vehicle to the gmc dealerto have the air bag recall taken care of, but they have not done so.now i am ready to sell the vehicle and am being told that the value of the vehicle is going to be less because of the open recall.this shows up on carfax.i seem to have no recourse.

Takata recall has been outstanding since 2016. The risk specifically states: "the propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries."i live in a hot and humid area, and i have a family.i also have a reasonable expectation of safety and reliance upon this vehicle, and considering the cost of vehicles these days, seems like companies would show a bit more love and consideration for their customers.i panic every time i get in my vehicle, just out of worry of what might happen in the event of a collision.

I've received letters from the gmc dealership that my vehicle needs a recall with a dangerous takata airbag, but there is no part available yet.it has been over 2 years since i was first notified of this issue.i live in a hot and humid area (hawaii), which is supposedly worse for the issue with the airbag.i am concerned for the safety of my family which driving this vehicle.the vehicle is almost 11 years old, i feel the auto maker is trying to buy time until the engine goes out possibly.i plan on keeping this vehicle for another 10 years at least, replacing the engine if need be.i would like some help getting this issue resolved, and in the meantime will try to get approved for an on/off switch for the affected airbag.it also seems strange that only one side would be affected, as the explosive propellant causing the issue would no doubtedly be on both sides.

The dashboard is cracked on the passenger side possibly damaging the passenger side airbag. The vehicle was stationary. Came out one morning and it was cracked. Had a friend who had a brand new denali and it happened to his in less than 1 year from purchase.

I love my truck. The only thing that is unsatisfying is my cracked dash from the left side to the right of the truck.the air bag light flashes due to the sides wall and dash board air bag is coming out.i would hate to hit a squirrel and it the air bag pops. I have one window that refuses to come down and last but not least, the dang cruise control only sets after 80mph. I hve to pray everyday not to get a speeding ticket in low speeding areas and the dash board with the sharp edges will not cause more injuries than the airbag if i'm ever in an accident. Please come to some type of agreement foe a recall to fix this matter. Pretty truck outside but the inside clean, crack, and broke up as is it was a fight inside.help help help bring it back to life

My family's 2008 gmc yukon has a cracking dashboard cover.this problem started earlier around 100,000 miles but now there is one large crack and one smaller crack above the portion of the dashboard where the instrument cluster is located. I am concerned that eventually this whole portion of the dashboard cover may crack and fall into the dashboard which could possibly affect electrical components located within the dashboard. Also i have noticed some signs of a crack forming next to the passenger side airbag cover. At any point while driving the vehicle i can hear the dashboard cracking and popping loudly.

Our 2008 gmc yukon with takata airbags has been under recall for many years now, and still has not be resolved.it seems that takata and gmc have ignored the importance of replacing the airbags.it is shocking that our government has not forced them to address this issue for all these years.we purchased our 2008 gmc yukon new in august, 2008.i do not have a proper date for the date listed as when did this happen listed below, so just put august 1, 2008 so that i could get on to the next page, it would not allow me to leave that field blank.

Gm recalled vehicles for air bag problems model years 08-13.my yukon is an 08 however, not recalled as well??i'm not sure what gm is trying to pull.i thought they were turning a leaf here by recalling all vehicles with potential major safety issues.apparently not.

2008 yukon dash beginning to crack over instrument panel and in corner of passenger airbag.worried that this may have an effect on my airbag operation.have been tryingto get it repaired but all dealerships say the are always backordered.

I have contacted gm and the local dealerships for the past 4 years asking to have my airbags replaced in my 2008 gmc yukon per the directive of nhtsa. Each time i have been told gm does not agree with nhtsa recall and gm refuses to replace dangerous airbags. I have emails and other messages from gm. I noticed recently they were ordered to replace all airbags. However gm stills says they do not agree. Any suggestions?

We have 3 gm suburban and gmc yukons that all have cracked dashes. I find it hard to believe that all 3 of ours have cracked dashes. There has got to be a problem with the dash board and gm needs to step up and do something about this before some one gets hurts. The dash boards all cracked about 10 months ago .

2008 yukon 5 cracks across the entire dashboard within 30 days, 3 cracks have formed in 72 hours.one crack appeared while i was at work, in the span of 3 hours. This truck has been regularly maintained and kept in a garage for majority of its life. The cracks are forming so fast that pieces will begin shattering and falling inside.two cracks have formed next to the passenger side airbag, that has takata inflators- exciting times! my dealership has informed me that gmc will not compensate or assist in remedying this issue- but the dealer will be happy to replace the dash for $1300.00.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the chassis electronic control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v614000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure ]mileage was approximately 160,000.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon. The vehicle would not start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times and the battery was replaced twice. The third time the vehicle was towed to the dealer the technician stated that the battery was functioning and was unable to diagnose the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Purchased a used 2008 gmc yukon jan. 23, 2010 and approximately 4 months later the first issue occurred with the car not starting in my driveway. I thought it was user error. A few months later coming out of the grocery store went to enter my vehicle and no start, went under the hood and moved the battery cable and it started. Later that night i tried to tighten the battery cable, but it wasn't loose. Approximately 1 month later while driving, the dash flickered and "stability traction" light illuminated with slight loss of power. Got to destination exited vehicle and upon return vehicle would not start until i once again moved battery cable around. The last incident which occurred on august 30, 2010 while driving approx. 15 mph through a residential neighborhood, engine just cut off. Wrestled car to side, put in park and restarted. This was the scariest incident because someone could have rear ended me. I took vehicle to shop gmc dealer and they found nothing wrong. 23,000 miles on vehicle now. Purchased with 17,500.

Door lock failure, driver and rear passenger.

Drivers door lock failure.according to the auto forums on the internet, this is a widespread failure, for all doors, not just the drivers. Its an electrical wiring problem with the lock actuator.gm refuses to fix them out of warranty and has issued no recall. I read a woman's post where her toddler child almost fell out of the back seat while moving because the door failed to lock, seat belt was the only reason child survived.gm should be ashamed for not recalling this hazard.

2008 gmc yukon back-up sensors failed to activate. *nj

The car flashes reduced engine power, stabilitrack off and the car can barely go 30 mph. The engine runs very rough when it is doing this also. My code scanner displays code 641 which is open 5volt reference on bank 1. It does this more when the weather outside is warmer or the car has been sitting still while running. On more than one occasion it has happened while pulling out into traffic causing near misses and other times while driving down the highway. Just yesterday it did it 20 times in a four mile stretch. This car is no longer safe to drive.

2008 gmc yukon denali experienced complete system shutdown to include instant loss of all electrical, propulsion, braking, and steering systems on 3 separate occasions, one in which the vehicle was traveling 35 miles an hour and twice at 60.went into shop 3 times before fixed.my wife, who was driving on all 3 occasions, refuses to ever drive it again.

Front passenger and rear passenger door locks / latch will not open unless you do it manually. Car had less than 80,000 miles when this took place. This is a dangerous situation specially when an emergency takes place and you need to exit car fast. There should be a recall.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked and fractured in the middle. Also, the air bag and tire pressure monitoring system warning indicators illuminated. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 171,000.

My 2008 yukon has had an electrical mystery for awhile now. When you open the doors the "chime" will be very faint and then the next time it's very loud. The clock resets like the battery has been disconnected after shutting the car off. The door locks will lock and unlock by themselves will i'm driving. I can turn the car off after driving it and it will be completely dead. It wont do anything. You can't lock the doors, turn on the radio, start the car or anything. Almost like it doesnt have a battery at all. Wait 10 minutes or so and slam a few doors and it starts right up. We've replaced batteries, alternators, fuses and taken it to mechanics with no luck. After replacing the battery it will work for several months and then it will do it again. There has to be a short somewhere and after googling it there are 1000 of people having the same problems. We had problems since we purchased the car in 2017 and i'm positive the owner before me had the same issues.

Cracked dash board in several different spots/areas.. A piece has already came out and flew towards my daughters face and bruised her.

Some doors don't lock or unlock, i have had this into the dealership once to get it fixed. And now it has happened again, and thank goodness for car seats because my 3 year old daughter opened her door while i was turning a corner and almost his another car beside me. I am taking my yukon in to get fixed again. The dealership said it was something to do with the electrical in the doors.

Truck stalls on take offs ,at times it jumps on take offs to where you have to lock the brakes up.at times you can smell the hybrid battery getting hot ,there times it wont start up ,im afraid my wife will leave a light and it will die and her getting hit because of it ive seen many complaints on these truckd

Doors locked with remote. 2nd row passenger door behind drivers door failed to actuate with remote or with door locks. Was able to work with the manual lock on the door from the inside to free the door. Once freed, the door failed to return to the closed position and remained stuck until the key fob was pushed. Repeated the lock with the key fob, door still will not actuate to the open position. Child can unlock as this bypasses the child locks on that door. Child could also get trapped in the car-could not be unlocked without manual agitation of the internal locks. Internet is full of his same issue on the same model vehicle. This is a serious hazard.

Rear driver side door lock will only open manually. The key fob and electronic mechanisms to unlock this door no longer work. The rear passenger door now operates in the same manner (it doesn't). I see a significant number of people encountering the same problem.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon.the contact stated that the doors failed to open when using the remote access.the dealer stated that the actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified.the vin was not available.the approximate failure mileage was 27,000.updated 10/24/2014*ljupdated 4/17/2015

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon. When reversing the vehicle, the back-up sensor did not alert until the vehicle was 4 to 5 inches away from an object. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 1,200.

The problem began when the drivers side door locks began to fail. They will not lock or unlock other than by doing it manually. Over the last several months, both of the rear passenger doors have failed. This situation is very dangerous in the event of an accident. I found this site after discovering several blogs where many gm owners are having the same problem.

On all 4 occasions, the 2008 yukon hybrid, lunges forward at low speeds, looses brakes, power steering and all power.every time it has to be towed to the dealer.this has happened 4 times since august 2008.the first time there was a fire in the fuse box, then while the dealer had the vehicle, it caught on fire again.the dealer keeps telling me that it is fixed and safe to drive.the yukon is back at the dealer and i am not taking it back.this vehicle is very dangerous and the government needs to look into this right away.i now have an attorney and we are contacting gm as well.

The vehicle caught fire while parked and ignition turned off.fire appeared to start in the engine area. Vehicle had been parked and turned off for approx 1.5 to 2 hours before the fire was reported.

First owner of a 2009 gmc yukon has had 3 door lock failures, which not only qualifies under the lemon law, but also poses a major safety issue. The first door lock failed. Gmc does not consider door locks as a warranty item or safety item so i was forced to pay for a replacement. The next week, another door lock failed. The dealer did not charge for the replacement. Now, a third door lock failed only 10 days after the last repair.why is this a safety concern? my child was able to open the door while all doors were locked. Due to e failure, the door was unlocked unknowingly. My child and any child or person risks falling out of a moving vehicle. Secondly, should a car accident occur, unlocked doors could result in a door opening and ejecting the passenger leading to death. There is a flood of complaints on the web for this issue. Gmc has not owned up to it, but due to the major safety issues, this should be investigated and faulty actuators and the known pattern failure in wiring harness causing the failures should be addressed as an immediate recall.

Door locks have failed on 3 out of 4 of the doors. Sometimes in the locked position, sometimes in the unlocked position. Some postings on this topic are referencing issues with wiring harness. If the locks were to not unlock in an car accident, or god forbid rolling over down a hill that there is thepotential for loss of life. There are multiple complaints regarding this on the internet. Gm is well aware of these failures. I really believe this should fall into the recall catagory of vehicles.

While traveling on the interstate at speed (70) the stabilitrac light came on and reduced engine power message displayed. The rpm's went over 4k, then the yukon slowed in traffic and i had to pull to the side before being run over. The accelerator was unresponsive at that time.i turned off the engine, waited about 5 minutes and then resumed driving using '3' to engage transmission instead of 'd' the check engine light remained on, but i made it to my destination 2 hours away.

The passenger door and right side rear door locks have failed.the doors have to be manually locked and unlock.i believe it to be the door lock actuators, as their are numerous complaints about this all over the internet.this is a huge safety issue.i cannot believe this has not been recalled.i have two small children and to not be able to get to them as fast as possible in an emergency is very scary.these automatic door locks are there for a reason gm knows it.i was told the cost would be around $300 per door and many of these people have had to have them replaced multiple times.this needs to be fixed free of charge with quality parts that will not fail!

While we are driving on a freeway the car suddenly stop and will have a "stability lose control" message on a dash board. The car will stop momentarily and then it will run again after we start the car.the car has no power at all once it stopped. It happens a lot so right now we're not using it due to safety issue. A big safety issue because we use this to travel with family.i brought this to the mechanic but they don't seem to find what's wrong with it. They did a diagnostic test but they did not get an error message at all. Engine light is not even on.

I have had multiple problems with my 2008 gmc yukon. It first started with my radio cutting on and off. I have been to the dealer 3 times and they can't reproduce the problem. I have had the warning light come on alerting me that i have an open hood, unloosen fuel cap,and the engine light has come on and remained on for several days. Lately the alarm has been going off 5 times to date. I have notified the dealer but i don't feel that it is getting me anywhere. I have delivered it to them three times and have had them check it out twice. Today was the third time and they told me they didn't have a loaner car and to return on wed. 8.27.08 . They did not write up that i was there today. I don't know what to expect the next time a dummy light goes off i only hope that it isn't something serious since all the issues seem to be a "boy crying wolf".

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon.while entering the vehicle, she noticed flames and smoke.the fire department extinguished the flames.the report stated that there was anelectrical short in the instrument control panel . The manufacturer was notified, andshe was waiting for a response. The failure and current mileages were 24319.

I have a 2008 gmc yukon slt that i bought in feb of 2015 with 94,000 miles. I have serviced it regularly from day 1 and even paid it off in 2.5 years. As soon as i paid it off, the very next month, my engine started making a weird noise once in a while w/ no check engine light so no one could tell what was wrong. At that same time my "service stabilitrak/service traction control" would ding about 40 times in a row. I serviced the 2 and it did not help for more than 2 days and it started again. This time the check engine light came on codes were for new plugs and fuel filter. Still didn't help. Then my engine blew! got that replaced and it still to this day is doing same thing! so, like the 330 others, we have a major safety issue that no one cares to address, and i'm done trying! if this man are having the same issue it's a gm issue!i'mcopying the nhtsa and my atty general for help. I'm driving and all of the sudden the stability and traction controls lights start flashing, the check engine light comes on and it goes into 1st gear and won't shift out.it takes about 15 seconds to go from driving 60 miles and air down to 10.gmc had it a total of 7 weeks in the winter of 2015/2016 and couldn't find the problem.doing it again now7/7/2016.took it to another dealer.they think it's a wiring problem but can't find it either.told me would just have to drive it till it gets worse.i noticed this last time it messed up that it had been shifting very hard that day.very frustrating to pay that much for a vehicle you don't feel safe driving.ready to trade but not sure i have much faith in gm vehicles after all the problems i've been reading about.

This is in regards to gmc bulletin #pip4112j :sag or hesitation on acceleration (normal operation characteristics) - (jul 21, 2011).i've been having this problem since day one and took the suv to many dealers but dealers could not verify the concern until now. The 2008 gmc yukon xl denali would stop accelerating for 2-3 seconds when the gas pedal is pressed. Most of the time it is when i am trying to pass a lane, trying to enter highway, trying to climb a mild hill or trying to avoid a potential accident. After the delay, the transmission would down shift and i think it down shifts to either 1st or 2nd gear causing the suv to roar like crazy and shoots out like a cannon. I had an incident where the cops gave me a warning with the lights and siren probably thinking that i was driving recklessly. There were also incidents where i've had the gas pedal pressed down about 80%-90% trying to climb a mild elevation and either the engine and or transmission started to choke. It was so bad that the denali almost came to a full stop. You really have to experience this on your own to understand how scary and nerve wrecking it is when you have vehicles about to ram you from behind because the suv simply would not accelerate.many times, i had to swerve back in to original lane in fear of causing a serious accident. Because of this, i don't even let my wife drive the vehicle. Service manager was kind enough to research on this matter and found bulletin #pip4112j and he can't really do anything. I've been explained that due to large power from the engine, he has seen the rear of the vehicles break apart. I fully understand the service manger's position on this but i think this is a major safety concern and someone can seriously get hurt by this.

Low beam headlamps have poor lighting performance high beams are not any better and is not measurable difference between them. I have been driving with the high beams on and oncoming traffic does not even flash me to turn them off.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and the traction control and reduced engine power indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel control module and the body control module were faulty and needed to be replaced. The technician replaced the fuel pump, but the failure recurred. The dealer (allen gwynn chevrolet, glendale, ca, 844-636-8480) scheduled an appointment. When the contact arrived for the appointment, the technician stated that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that nothing could be done. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

My vehicle experienced an electrical short in the fuel pump flow control module, causing the engine to stall while i was traveling around 70 mph on the freeway.i lost engine power, power braking, and power steering.inearly had an accident when pulling off to the shoulder and braking.i am aware that there was a recall of the part that failed in gm bulletin 14515b. Gm however informed me that my vin was not covered under the recall.the defect in my fuel pump control module has been confirmed by my gmc authorized service center.i am looking for reimbursement of the $550 dollars i paid to sewell service to replace this component as it surely should have been covered in the recall.

I was in a small impact accident , air bags deployed and broke my left index finger.

2008 gmc yukon door actuators going out repeatedly. I have to manually unlock the door instead of being able to use my key remote as the drivers side and 2 passenger doors have gone out. This becomes a safety issue as i am at my business until 9pm and would like to unlock my door by remote.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon. The contact stated that he was unable to lock any of the doors on the vehicle.the vehicle was taken and inspected by a dealer who advised that the actuators had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.

Door lock failure, driver and rear passenger.

Problems with power door locks.had it with our 2000 yukon, my 1999 sierra, and now our 2008.the 12 volt motor which drives the locks up and down via a screwjack fails. No logical way to just change the motor.the entire assy. Must be replaced @ $153 my nearest dealer.2nd door to fail on the 2008.assy is stamped "made in china".this is a recurring problem and should be on a recall.

Front passenger and rear passenger door locks / latch will not open unless you do it manually. Car had less than 80,000 miles when this took place. This is a dangerous situation specially when an emergency takes place and you need to exit car fast. There should be a recall.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon.the contact stated that the front driver and rear passenger side power lock assembly malfunctioned for the second time.the doors had to be unlocked manually by hand or using the key.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer replaced the power lock assembly. The contact was concerned that the doors would not open or close in the event of an emergency. The failure mileage was 41,709.

Door lock actuators.three of four door actuators are broken and locks must be controlled manually.gmc wanted 655.00 to fix the two i knew were broken. Gmc is well aware of the thousands of complaints of this defective part.i was not aware the third lock had failed until my son opened a back door and stepped into traffic.i was under the impression his door was locked.all i could do was scream at the top of my lungs in an attempt to keep him from getting hit by traffic.does it take a death or several deaths before gmc recalls this defective part?!!! this is a serious safety issue when you have a child in the car and should be looked at before an injury of death occur.

Rear driver side door lock will only open manually. The key fob and electronic mechanisms to unlock this door no longer work. The rear passenger door now operates in the same manner (it doesn't). I see a significant number of people encountering the same problem.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the vehicle was shut off and locked with the key fob. When she attempted to enter the vehicle again, she was able to open the driver side door without using the key fob but the anti-theft system began to sound. She disengaged the system using the key fob but the driver side door would not lock. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where the contact was informed that driver side door motor failed; it was repaired. The following day, the failure occurred on the rear driver side door. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 39,600 and the current mileage was 39,680.

I own a 2008 gmc yukon.the vehicle has power door locks and the actuator on the door locks has gone out on all four doors.they replaced the first 3 under warranty, but they would not do it on the last one as vehicle was out of warranty.my son helped me install a new one in the last one, but we had to buy the parts.my sorry dealership wanted $300 to fix something that is obviously flawed in the first place.the door lock has now gone out again on a back door that they had already fixed, supposedly they will repair this one free of charge.i guess i will take it in and see if they will honor their repair warranty.

2008 gmc yukon. Consumer states problem with vehicle door locks *tgwthe consumer stated the door lock actuators had to be replaced twice.

Vehicle will jump forward when going into auto stop as if you are sitting at a light behind someone you would hit them, sometimes going down the road when going into hybrid mode it will stall and start jerking forward and steering locked up wouldn't turn witch would cause to run into someone

Hi, my husband and i just purchased this vehicle.a few days after we took a drive with several passengers.the seatbelt behind the driver's would not automatically click.the passenger had to try several times before the seatbelt locked in place.this happens while driving and also while not driving.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon. While driving at approximately 25 mph and approaching a stop sign, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not stop. The accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle did not accelerate. Another vehicle crashed into the front passenger of the contact's vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered a concussion and the pregnant front passenger sustained back injuries and received medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The car was parked in line at my kid's school, waiting to pick him up. The car engine was turned off. When the car was turned on, warning lights for traction control, brakes and stabilitrak came on. After moving slightly forward, the car would not stop despite flooring the brake. Luckily a speed bump stopped the car. We left the car where it was and we tried again the following day. The same lights came on and the brakes still completely unresponsive, the car coasted to a stop. The car was towed to the dealership.

Finger was cut by flaking chrome plating on drivers side interior door handle.

Dashboard cracked and splitting more at present time. Wiring showing from inside.will airbags disengage?

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon.the contact recently purchased the vehicle and noticed that the design does not permit operable towing due to the nonfunctional tail lights.the vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that there was no failure in the manufacturer's design.there was no repair available.the current mileage is 7,500 and the failure mileage was unknown. Updated 02/24/09. *ljthe consumer was informed the work could not be done on the vehicle because the lights were wired through the computer and they could notwire the unit to have taillights, turn signals or brake lights. Wiring to any lights could or would burn up the computer. Updated 02/24/09.

Dash board has two cracks.one is near passenger air bag that could cause malfunction of item and the other is near the instrument cluster.both cracks are reported to be caused by over tighten of bolts by the manufacture.this is not only the yukon but the tahoe as well.hundreds of people have reported the problem to gm but there is no fix but a full replacement at the cost of the consumer.this is a safety concern with the dash by the air bag and also the steering of the vehicle if this further cracks and falls.

The dashboard in our yukon has cracked just in back of the airbag. The concern is if the airbag ever has to deploy, the airbag will either tear rendering the airbag useless, or the dashboard will shatter sending plastic pieces throughout the front and back seats at a high rate of speed. I've done enough research to know this is a wide spread problem, yet gm is only offering to pay for half of this expensive replacement. In the mean time i have parked this vehicle and will not allow my wife to drive this with our two children.

The upper dashboard keeps developing cracks in the plastic around the passenger side airbag. I see this as a safety issue. If the airbags were to deploy, i don't know how much additional damage to the passenger due to broken pieces of plastic dashboard flyingat the passenger.

Cracked dashboard in 2 places. Including a crack into the passenger side airbag. I'm very concerned due to having two 2 year olds in my car. The cracks began approximately 2 years ago. Our yukon has regular maintenence and garage kept. I am very concerned this will cause my airbags to potentially engage!

The door handles have separated from the vehicle.

My dashboard is severely cracked to where a piece has falling apart.

Dash is cracked and may cause flying debris upon air bag deployment.safety issue.

We had arrived home from shopping that evening. My girlfriend was the last to exit the vehicle, because she was going to each side picking up trash within the vehicle. The dash wasn't cracked, two days later she entered the vehicle to run errands and notice the dash cracked she returned to the house and questioned everyone that had been in the vehicle that day and no one notice the crack.

Dash is cracked and airbag is a takata.gm will not take their responsibility because of corporate greed.when enough people die then they will act.surprisingly since gm received government assistance you would think they care about people.but they only care about money.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the automatic door lock failed intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated that the front, rear driver's side and the rear passenger's side door actuators would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

Takata recall, front passenger airbag inflators are defective. The inflator can degrade over time , especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. Plus my dash is cracking. The dash has cracked so much that the air bag ares is pushed up.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon. The contact stated that a crack developed on the dashboard near the driver side air bag. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Dashboard cracks around instrument cluster and front passenger air bag. My dashboard started to crack a couple or years ago and is now cracked all over. It is also a safety issue. I have tried to stop the cracks in different ways and it just continues. Gmc should respond and change the dashboard of these vehicles. I asked the dealer in the last inspection for the repar. It is close to 1300 dollars and gmc does not respond.clearly this is a quality issue

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the dashboard and air bag compartment were cracked. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 220,000.

2008 yukon dash beginning to crack over instrument panel and in corner of passenger airbag.worried that this may have an effect on my airbag operation.have been tryingto get it repaired but all dealerships say the are always backordered.

My 2008 gmc yukon was parked in my uncovered driveway.i remote started in from inside to the house to warm up the engine.about 2 minutes later, i went outside and got in the truck, placed keys in ignition and turned it over.it got down in the mid-30's last night, so there was a thin layer of frost on all windows.i turned on the front windshield defroster.i did not turn the back one on as the exhaust fumes from the tailpipe were melting the frost on the back window.i had been sitting in the car for approx 3-4 minutes when i heard a very loud boom and glass shattering.i looked back and could see that my back window had exploded.shards of tempered glass were all over the pavement and inside the back area of the truck.

Please click this link and read 330 complaints about the same exact thing and youtube has people actually stuck bc their car died. Mine did not ever die but it sure feels like it is and . It happens every single time i drive my yukon! please help us! i'm on unemployment and cannot afford anymore repairs. I shouldn't have to pay for this many things to be fixed and still not touch the problem![xxx]parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *an

Cracked dash board in several different spots/areas.. A piece has already came out and flew towards my daughters face and bruised her.

Gmc dash cracking-- filed complaint with gm and srt special response team member took info and did try to work with local dealership but in the end refused to pay to have the dash replaced. If the vehicle is in an accident and the air bad deploys i'mafraid the flying sub par plastic dash parts will become harmful objects. This is and has been an ongoing issue with chevy and gmc products. The dash is actually starting to fall apart and causing visual concerns along with noisesfrom broke pieces rubbing other vehicle parts.... If we were to try and sell vehicle this issue would lower the resale value.. We the people helped gm out of there self created problems.. They should help the loyal ownerswell once loyal---

Dashboard started to crack and there is a long crack

I have an 2008 yukon with a cracked dash board in many deferents parts. The cracks are so bad that while driving everything shakes and make all raddling noises. The section around the air bag makes lots of noise. The car has never been in an accident. Just bough the car about a year agoand it was cracked then.

My dashboard is cracked around the airbag and over the steering column.i am missing a big piece of the dashboard over the steering column.my main concern (other than the horrible rattling noise i have to listen to when i drive) is the cracking of the dashboard around the airbag.the cracking has actually popped the square section of the airbag up.there is also a 6-7 inch broken off piece of dash around the airbag that is just sitting there loosely.what will happen if i am in an accident and have this large piece of loose dash flying around?or, since my airbag cover is popped up, can this cause my airbag to deploy?i took the vehicle to the dealership and they told me that i didn't qualify for a free replacement, that it would cost me $800 to replace myself.

Vehicle dashboard cracking around passenger side airbag.concerned over the possibility of the fracture splintering if the airbag were to deploy and puncturing the airbag and/orsending pieces of hard plastic into the face of passenger and/or other occupants.

The dash is cracked above the control panel. This is the third time the dash has cracked but this time it is substantial.

3 large cracks that are the entire length of the dashboard.

Dash cracking at corner of airbag and large crack over instrument cluster. Vehicle has always been garage kept.

The dash is cracked right over the odometer driver's side and the dash is cracked by the airbag on the passenger side

Dash board has cracked above instrument cluster and around passenger airbag

Dashboard cracked.this is the 2nd incident to this same vehicle. Dash was previous replaced by dealership.cracks are in the same area as previous cracks

The dashboard is cracked on the passenger side possibly damaging the passenger side airbag. The vehicle was stationary. Came out one morning and it was cracked. Had a friend who had a brand new denali and it happened to his in less than 1 year from purchase.

I have two cracks in the dash one on the drivers side behind the steering wheel and the other leading to the passenger side air bag. This seems to be a common issue with gmc vehicles. I have addressed the issue with gm. To no relief.

Dash board cracking

Cracked dash board...severe cracking aboveinstrument panel/steering wheel and severe cracking around the passenger side airbag.issue has already been fixed one time before and this is a recurring issue with the same cracks in the same places.

Dashboard is cracked by passenger side airbag and right on top on driver side steering wheel. This looks like the dashboard could act as shrapnel if deployed injuring all persons in vehicle if either airbag is deployed.

My dashboard has a crack across it from the driver side all the way to the passenger side. I think this is unsafe and this vehicle is always park.

The vehicle caught fire while parked and ignition turned off.fire appeared to start in the engine area. Vehicle had been parked and turned off for approx 1.5 to 2 hours before the fire was reported.

The vehicle suddenly and without warning, shut down while it was being driven down the road.dashboard was off and it coasted to a stop.fortunately it was on a city road with very little traffic (but this vehicle is driven on the highway frequently).once it was put in park, the key was turned, it immediately started again and ran perfectly.

Cracks in dash in multiple places. If air bags deploy, possible shards of dash could injure the passenger or driver.

Cruise control stopped working and the dashboard is cracking is two different areas

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

When traveling on a very busy interstate, i backed off the gas and went to accelerate when my vehicle went to reduced engine power.thankfully, the car made it to the next exit which had a gm dealer. They replaced the acceleration pedal position sensor. The car was purchased new in march 2008. This issue happened the first time in march 2012. 2 years later in march 2014, this issue happened again. The same part was replaced. We contacted chevrolet and filed a formal complaint. We were told they would probably not do anything, it's scary that a gas pedal has been replaced i a vehicle twice in 6 years.

Reduced engine power intermittently and without warning vehicle will not go above 35 mph. Has occurred five times with a different "fix" each time. One of the times it occurred my teenage son was driving on the interstate and had to pull over. Another time it happened my daughter was driving the vehicle and fishtailed taking a corner and had continued deceleration going up the bridge. Major safety issue!

The vehicle was diagnosed at a local mechanic with needing the wheels replaced. The wheels were not replaced. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
