While drivingconsumer applied the brakes and without warningconsumer's vehicle collided with the vehicle in front.upon impact, air bags did not deploy. Driver sustained minor injuries andwas transported to the hospital for examination. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection, and dealer was unable to duplicate or resolve the problem.

Airbag system failure noted by warning light. Inspected by gmc dealer who could not determine the cause. Recommended complete control system replacement >$1000.00.

We were headed back to our hotel room, when all of a sudden a deer jumps out in front of us, and we avoided the deer by swerving and missing it. Unfortunately the vehicle over corrected and we ended up rolling it. No air bags were deployed, and my seat belt came undone and i was thrown around in the vehicle as it rolled.

On march 12 my family was in a bad accident. We were cut off by another vehicle. It was raining..the yukon slid..hit the barrier..flipped3 times..finally stopping upside down..by the grace of god we are alive today...the air bags didn't deploy..we were on the highway going 60 miles when this accident happened.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. The contact was driving approximately 40 mph when the vehicle was involved in a head on crash in which the air bags did not deploy. The police appeared on the scene and a report was available. The driver as well as the front passenger was injured and transported via ambulance to the hospital to treat injuries. The vehicle was towed to an insurance company lot but did not have the failure diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 134,000.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. While the vehicle was in park, the rear air conditioner stopped blowing air. The contact, who was an independent mechanic, diagnosed that the electrical connection located behind a plastic panel in the hood latch was overheated by the electrical wires. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.

My 2004 gmc yukon has been taken to several gmc service centers to try and diagnose several electronic issues. 1. The radio and ac unit will turn on for no reason and both units are extremely hot to the touch.2. The front dash resonates when the vehicle is at a slight incline or decline when the ac unit is on.3. The speedometer would occasionally stop working after running the vehicle for about 30 minutes yet the dealership was never able to duplicate. It has now stopped working all together.

Gm ignition switch recall:gmc refuses to honor the recall and fix this issue on both my suv's. I can't be part of the class action until these repairs have been made, what a scam. I own 2 gmc yukon's slt and both qualify for the recall which i was never notified of from gmc. Neither car ever got repaired. The manufacture and local dealerships refused to do the repairs at no cost. This is after i paid these [xxx] over $1000 to fix this problem on one of my suv's many years ago which did not get fixed because they claim theycouldn't find what was wrong with my suv's but they knew all along. I want gm to honor their legal obligations and fix my suv's faulty ignition system. I only found out that there was a recal from the class action attorneys. Gm never notified me of any recalls ever!!please help. Thank you.[xxx]parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While traveling on the freeway at approximately 70mph, the speedometer in the vehicle malfunctioned and began steadily decreasing until it reached 0.luckily i had my gps to go by for my vehicle speed, otherwise i would have had know clue of how fast or slow i was going.this is a major safety concern and should be a recall on all vehicles regardless of mileage,or does someone have to die first!!

I was on my way home from work. I ended up getting just a few rain drops so i click my wiper switch one time, it didn't come on. ( puzzled ) so i repeated to get to water offwindow ,1 click at a time the wipers didn't come on until i was at high. Of course , now they are on high and rain is gone, now i can't get the blades to stop in the off position.well, i had to pull over i couldn't concentrate on what just happened to my wipers? as well as drive. This happened on july 10, 2019. I've called gmc a couple times, 1st time they just closed next time i didnt transfer to service dept . I just think , there should be something to notify you , i just happened to get home before the storm hit. I was on a county road when it happened. Thank you for your time.

Fuel gauge reading inaccurately.needle went way past the full mark into the blank area on the bottom of the gauge.also, the speedometer was reading 120mph when i was pulling out of my driveway.i stuck at 70mph when i was stopped.

"stability system disabled" was displayed prior to the brakes being engaged without driver input. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a 'yaw sensor' replaced. The problem returned within 20 miles. A second sensor was replaced along with reprogramming. The problem continues. Dealer states "gm has told us to do nothing more".no further explanation is offered by the dealer or gm "customer assistance".i believe that a vehicle that activates brakes on dry pavement without the driver's foot on the pedal is dangerous.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon.the contact stated that the rear seat radio function was not functioning. The contact noticed the console was extremely hot. The dealer was made aware of the failure but a diagnostic test was not performed. Also, the contact stated that the passenger side daytime running headlight bulb was replaced three different times. The contact noticed the light bulbs that were removed were black and appeared melted on the bottom. The vehicle was not repaired for the radio failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 60.

Speedometer sticks at highway speeds and registers at least 20 mph higher than actual speed and needle fluctuates so you can not tell how fast you are going.fuel gauge is inaccurate. Both are safety concerns.at 120,000 miles i am beyondgm's extended warranty.should be recalled and fixed.

2004 gmc yukon slt -- instrument panel when truck was started.all gauges (fuel, battery & water) became inactive.shift indicator no longer worked and i was unable to determine what gear the car was in.audio system (cassette, cd player and radio) became inoperable.car taken to dealership -- beck & masten north in houston.i was told that the body control module was defective and would need to be replaced.previous issue with the instrument panel cluster going out, causing speedometer to become inoperative.dealer admitted that this was a problem on a number of yukons.(i haven't seen this a a recall on either your site or gmc's site.)gmc has violated fmvss standard no. 101 and parts 573 and 577.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the instrument panel would fail sporadically. The contact took the vehicle to dealer and was advised that the gear mechanism was designed to fail over time.the manufacturer was aware of the issue and was offering to pay for the repair on vehicle within 70,000 miles or less. The failure mileage was unknown and current mileage was 130,000.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. While the vehicle was stationary, water entered the hvac system and caused the blower resister module to corrode. As a result, the wiring harness heated up, which could have potentially caused a fire in the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 145,000.

Surge happens while driving, then engine light comes on, decreased engine power occurs, tracktion stability indictors comes on. Car looses power. I have to pull over off the road, put into park, cut ignittion off, wait a few minutes and then restart the car. This could happen several times while driving.the vehicle is in motion and this is a driving hazard and big safety issue, it has happened on city street and on a highway. It happens daily.

Upon taking delivery of vehicle erratic electrical problem existed.often only the front doors would like, leaving the back doors and rear door unlocked.often upon inserting key in ignition, drivers seat would zoom forward pushing occupant against steering wheel.while driving, outside rear view mirrors would retract for no reason.dealer has not been able to fix though many service notes exist.lately, the amp gauge failed however amperage is not affected.next the speedometer showed 38 mph while not moving.it is totally now inoperative, varying from never leaving zero to showing 80 while going 20 mph.since i cannot trust the accuracy of any gauge, i have no idea how fast i am driving or any of the other vital instrument readings.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. While parked, the contact started the ignition and the check engine light illuminated. The check engine light would illuminate intermittently. The contact stated the speedometer was also failing. The speedometer would become stuck and after a few days would function normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technicians informed the warranty had expired and the contact would have to cover cost of the repairs and diagnostic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

I have a 2004 gmc yukon that has an erratic speedometer.at times, it will freeze up.other times it will display the incorrect speed including freezing at 0mph.it is my understanding that this is a very common complaint by owners of vehicles containing these types of faulty instrument clusters.my vehicle has over 80,000 miles on it and is not covered by any sort of gmc warranty and/or replacement plan.this equipment poses a safety threat as i cannot determine the speed of my vehicle and more accurately interpret following distance from other vehicles.

The instrument panel light indicating what gear the transmission is in is out and therefore driver cannot tell which gear the vehicle is in, and extreme safety hazard.

The speedometer is erratic, usually showing 130 mph.the oil gauge and gas gauge have now stopped working as well.we can only gauge our speed by using a gps.it has been happening for about a year and we have over 100,000 miles on the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. While driving at an unknown speed, the instrument panel failed to display the correct gauge levels. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that there was an electrical failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

My kids and i was on the interstate and all of sudden my yukon reduce engine power.dropping to 30 in a speed zone of 70.i was very afraid for our safety and appreciate there concerns for reducing engine power to save the truck, but that's very dangerous. So i paid to replace the throttle body and gas pedal cause that was the codes for the problem. But it's still doing the same thing and i don't have money to keep buying parts.plus it a gm problem and i really need some help with the fixture..

My husband and i purchased a 2004 gmc yukon from a local dealership here in louisville kentucky in 2007 and not to long after purchasing the vehicle some of the gauges stopped working. My husband contacted the dealership and was told to bring the vehicle in to one of their service center which they looked at it and stated they couldn't find nothing wrong with it. My husband explained the gauges would sometimes stick/quite working while driving the vehicle and sometimes when starting the vehicle and he would sometimes have to tap on it to try to get it to work again. Time went on and it got worse and my husband took the vehicle to a certified local mechanic and he told him the instrument panel/cluster needed to be replaced. We paid for a replacement and shortly after the replacement it started doing the same thing the other panel did. All the gauges stopped working and we have to tap on it to get it to work and now it has gotten even worse and i feel that there should be a recall on these because why should we continue to spend our money on getting replacements and they do the same thing. There must be a defect in these panels. I have contacted gm regarding this issue and they stated there was a service warranty on the panel but it expired in 2011. I then stated that we didn't know anything about the service warranty because we never received anything in the mail and they stated the service warranty was mailed out to the previous owners of the vehicle and we must not have registered our vehicle correctly with the dmv (department of motor vehicle) which i don't see how that is possible when we receive a notice in the mail every year to renew the registration on the vehicle we are current every year so i don't understand why we didn't receive the notice regarding the service warranty in the mail.

My 2004 gmc yukon started having speedometer troubles a few months ago.sometimes it would work just fine, but sometimes it would read 120 mph when i was parked, or sometimes it would read 0 mph when i was going about 65 on the highway.some days it would work just fine, other days, it was very off.it got to where i could not rely on my speedometer to tell how fast i was going.i had to use a gps to get my speed.

After driving at highway speeds for more than one-half of an hour, the speedometer starts to read slower than i am driving and sometimes goes to zero, while i am obviously traveling at 60 to 70 mph. If i get off the freeway or slow to a stop, it usually reads correctly for a while, then goes back to reading slowly again. This has been happening more and more frequently. This is a safety hazard, as well as my not knowing the true speed of my vehicle, i could get a speeding ticket. I have not repaired this yet as it is a gm problem and they should repair it.

I purchased a 2004 gmc yukon, in 2005. Over the last 6 months or so,my speedometer has been acting erratically -when it is hot or humid the speedometer starts to jump a little then starts to register a higher speed than i am moving. For example: i was sitting at a stop light and my speedometer read 90 mph. I noticed that when i would turn off the engine and repeatedly start up and shut off the engine, the speedometer reading would reduce by approximately 5 mph at a time, which means i had to start up and shut off the engine 18 or more times for it to return to 0. This happens quite often. Icontacted my local gmc dealer repair department who knew exactly what was going on - evidently this is quite the common thing with these trucks and others - and told me that i would have to have the entire instrument panel replaced. Pricing around $375 for the part and another $100 or so for installation. I have investigated complaints on the internet for this problem, with gm vehicles, and there are far too numerous out there for this to be a single incident. It is obvious that this is a defect. In my opinion, gm should be responsible for the repair with a recall.i can see where it would definitely cause alarm as far as a safety concern. Fortunately i have not had an incident yet, but definitely feel that this should be looked into further. I just wanted to note that i also saw on an internet website for lawyers that they are gathering complaints together for a class action suit against gm. I thought it would be better to report this for investigation first.

I have a2004 gmcyukon. The speedometer is malfunctioning ,itdisplaysincorrecterratic speeds, maxing out at 40 mph no matter how fasti am driving. Recentlyon a local freewayi almost had a accident when the traffic slowed aheadand i thought i was going 30 mphbut my actual speed was about 65. It nearly killed me.i have contacted gmcbut have not had answer to this problem.

Speedometer on my 2004 gmc yukon became very erratic, displaying speeds that were obviously way too slow or way to fast than what the vehicle was actually traveling.very dangerous situation as i cannot tell how fast the vehicle is going. Gm should conduct a recall as this is a safety hazard.

Speedometer sticks at various readings while driving.this was first noticed about 4 months ago.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. The contact stated he received an informational letter from the manufacturer in regards to the instrument cluster. He had not experienced a failure at the time. Six months later while driving approximately 25 mph the speedometer indicated he was traveling at 120 mph. The dealer advised the dealer had extended the warranty for repairs to vehicle with less than 70,000 accrued miles. The contact's vehicle had 79,000 miles. The repairs would be at the owner's expense. The manufacturer was later contacted and advised the warranty was extended past 70,000 to 80,000 miles however, the contact's vehicle had very recently passed 80,000 miles. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000 and the current mileage was 110,000.

2004 gmc yukon with speedometer issue - reads 120 mph when vehicle is parked.

Was driving to work and looked at my speedometer and it was at 120mph.stopped and turned the truck off and the speedometer stayed at 120mph. Now i have an inoperable speedometer in my truck.

I bought a used 2004 gmc yukon in march of 2008, previously it had been a fleet vehicle. We purchased the vehicle in colorado, and drove it to washington state.shortly after we arrived, the tachometer stopped working. It gets stuck at ether 25 rpms, or 75 rpms. The speedometer reads accurately, and only recently the fuel gauge has been sticking.i had gotten a notice that these parts had been "recalled" but only for a certain amount of time, for vehicles over 7,000 miles on it. At the time my vehicle only had about 6,500 miles.when i called a gmc office they told me there was nothing they could do.

2004 gmc yukon. Speedometer reads wrong speed at all times. Started on highway one day and hasn't been fixed since.sometimes reads 0 mph while on highway and past 120 mph while sitting still.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. All of the gauges on the instrument control panel have failed. A technician from the dealer stated that since her vehicle has exceeded 80,00 miles she would have to pay $500.00 for the repair. The technician also acknowledged that this was a common failure for her model type. The failure and current mileages were 111,000.

Speedometer in 2004 gmc yukonwaserratic at first intermittently, andwasnow permanently way off the mark. Personnel correspondence with two dealer service writers confirmedthat thiswascommon in at least 2003 and 2004 yukon's. Non warranty cluster replacement at $400.00 was fix.ed.gm should issue factory recall.

My 2004 gmc yukon speedometer (manual needle-type) just keeps increasing its speed reading until it "pegs-out" at the 130 mph mark.if you turn off the truck and restart the engine, the speedometer will jump-back about 5 mph.so if one does this 25 times, it will zero itself out.after only short amounts of driving, the speedometer will again start increasing its ready again.it appears to increase the reading as one increases in speed, but doesn't decrease the speed as one decreases their speed.obviously this can be a safety issue if you do not know your actual speed.fortunately my gps has speed readouts, but it is delayed by about 5-10 seconds.i only have about 21000 miles on my yukon, so the speedometer should not have broken or "worn-out" this quickly.

Speedometer on my 2004 gmc yukon has failed.it now registers 120 mph when in park.

I purchased 10/2/2004 a 2004 gmc yukon which had about 1500 miles left before the factory warranty expired.the mileage on the speedometer read 31144.since i paid for the vehicle cash i did not purchase an extended warranty.sometime after the extended warranty expired and the safety belt recall in 8/2005 my speedometer stopped working properly and my gas gauge began to stick.when i was advised that this was because of a faulty cluster and the price it cost i've managed to make due and not incurring any more speeding tickets and running out of gas.now that gm has taken responsibility for the faulty equipment where i am able to get this fixed at no charge to me, gm is stating that i have exceeded the 7 year or 70,000 mile limitation.i currently have 92,000 miles on the truck, however, i am not responsible for the 31144 that was there when it was purchased.i feel that the gauges on a vehicle are essential to the safety of that vehicle and other drivers.now that gm has taken the responsibility for the faulty equipment, there definitely needs to be a recall on their vehicles that are noted to have the problem.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon.the contact stated that the rpms, fuel gauge, speedometer, and oil gauge became inoperable.the dealer stated that the contact would have to pay over $800 to correct the failures.she received a letter that stated there was a defect in the vehicle.both the dealer and manufacturer stated that they could not provide repairs under the "defect campaign" due to the mileage of her vehicle.repairs were only being made to vehicles with less than 50,000 miles.the failure mileage was 70,000 and current mileage was less than 110,000.updated 05/05/09updated 05/07/09.

While leaving for our christmas trip, i noticed that it seemed that traffic was traveling a lot faster than usual.when i pulled off the highway, much to my surprise, my speedometer was stuck at a minimum speed of 76 mph!!since then, the speedometer continues to get stuck at various speeds and i have no idea how fast or slow i am going at any given time.this is very dangerous!!my gmc yukon is only 3 years old and has 61000 miles on it.i contacted the dealer and was told that it would cost anywhere from $600-800 est to fix the problem plus rental car for the days that the whole dash of my car was sent out to be reconditioned.the service tech mentioned that this was a common problem and sometimes it took more to rectify the situation.he also mentioned that other instruments could be failing on the dash.this is a very serious and dangerous repair problem and should be repaired at no cost to the consumer.i have found hundreds of posts on the internet on the issue and no ownership of the problem by gm.something needs to be done!!i drive children in this vehicle everyday and their safety should not be compromised in this manner.for the amount of money i spent on this vehicle and the short length of time that i have had it, there should not be such a serious issue.something needs to be done immediately!!

Speedometer on my 2004 gmc yukon became very erratic, displaying speeds that were obviously way too slow than what the vehicle was actually traveling. Very dangerous situation as i cannot tell how fast the vehicle is going. Gm should conduct a recall as this is a safety hazard.

Instrument cluster giving false readings, speedometer stuck at 10 mph even when traveling anything over ten mph.gas needle is no longer reading accurately under 1/4 tank , which has caused some embarrassing moments running out of gaswhen i thought i had fuel.i have a friend who has an avalanche and her instrument panel is doing the same thing, her speedometer and tach are now malfunctioning.has anyone managed to find out if we can get this replaced via recall?

The speedometer on my 2004 gmc yukon is stuck beyond 120 mph.

I am a single mother of one 11 year old son. I have just purchased a 2004 gmc yukon and i have serious safety concerns. I have a loud popping noise in my steering column and my speedometer is operating very erratically. I have an extended warranty and have been told by my local gmc dealer that these problems are not covered. My concern is if i should be killed in an accident on the interstate because i can not tell how fast i am traveling when the front steering breaks due to a steering component failure who will raise my son the state or gmc? i have lost all respect for gmc and their products.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon.approximately six months ago, the fuel gauge began to display inaccurate fuel readings.beginning in november of 2007, the speedometer began malfunctioning and remains at 120 mph, even when the vehicle is not on.the vehicle has been taken to the dealer on four separate occasions for the steering wheel to be greased because it makes a popping noise every six months.the vehicle has not been taken to the dealer concerning the fuel gauge or the speedometer at this time.there is an extended warranty on the fuel gauge and speedometer, which has been extended to 70,000 miles.the vin, engine size, and purchase date were unknown.the current mileage was 123,000 and failure mileage was 118,000.

I was driving to dallas with my family on sat. Oct 20, 2007 in my 2004 gmc yukon (49600 miles).while merging onto into traffic, i noticed that my speedometer was showing i was speeding in excess of 90 mph, but in fact, i was barely keeping up with the flow of traffic.i pulled off the free way and came to a dead stop at a gas station, and the speedometer needle reflected at 30 mph at a dead stop.i turned the key on and off several times, and each time the speedometer needle dropped by 5 to 10 mph, eventually resetting to 0.i continued on to my destination, again, the speedometer began acting the same way increasing and decreasing in jerky movement, but never completely going to zero.i never reset the speedometer again to zero, and now the speedometer shows 120 mph at a dead stop.there is no way to tell how fast i am actually traveling in the vehicle.i have read many, many complaints stating problems exactly like, or similar to mine regarding the speedometers on similar year/model gm trucks.there should be a recall on the speedometer gauges used in gm's late model trucks.

Speedometer jumps erratically - faulty speedometer head and instrument control panel.this is a very dangerous known condition seen on many gmc and chevy vehicles.a recall is warranted.

Stepped on gas and speedometer needle soared past actual speed limit. When the vehicle was parked or at standstill, it still registering at 120 mph. Speedometer reset itself after a day but problem has recurred 4 times after that at various points on the speedometer.

The speedometer in my yukon has stopped working and has been stuck @ 125mph since 37,000 miles.

Speedometer does not work.dial shows max speed 120 mph. When in park shows 70 mph.

Stepped on gas in my 2004 gmc yukon and the speedometer needle soared way past the actual speed. When i stopped the car, the needle rested at 120 mph. After a day it reset itself and then did it again. I went to the dealer to get it corrected and they advised that they've been receiving issues with the instrument panel clusters. My extended warranty didn't cover the issue because it wasn't considered a covered part...but it is a safety hazard!

Dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds or idling, the speedometer reading was incorrect.the speedometer read zero intermittently while driving, or it read one hundred miles per hour while sitting still.the vehicle was driven to the dealer, who determined the electronics of the speedometer needed to be replaced.updated 12/15/2006 -

Driving home on a three hour trip, i noticed my speedometer quit working, about 15 minutes after getting a ticket for speeding. I noticed the speedometer would either stick at the speed i was going at one point in time, then sometimes it would just fall to 0. Gm has a tsb out for the issue, but only for 7 years 70,000 miles. I have contacted them since i bought my vehicle with 96,000 miles on it, they said there was nothing they could do. I contacted my local service center and was amazed at the 600$ fixing price. Nothing has been done to fix what i and everyone else would consider a recall that they don't.

Reduced engine power.

Days after purchasing the vehicle, the check engine light came on, the vehicle powered down taking the speed from 35mph or above to 5-10 miles mph with out warning. This continuously happened as years passed and gm certified repair shop never found what's wrong. Until about two years ago, i googled issue and found its related to accelerator pedal and wiring from pedal that leads to engine throttle control, i changed throttle control plug to new and replaced accelerator pedal with used part and worked fine for two years but has now started failing again. I am afraid of this issue because i could be on freeway going 65 mph and if these fail as they have and are, i then slow down to 5-10 mph in a matter of seconds and could cause a serious accident. Please help, there should be a recall for this.

Today when starting my 2004 yukon, the information center displayed the messages: "stability control disabled", "engine power reduced". And the vehicle would not go over 20 mph on a level surface and barely 3 mph up a moderately steep hill. I had to pull over on route 80, drive on the shoulder and thankfully made it to a dealer. I've heard of so many gmc vehicles having this same issue. We need a solution before someone gets killed!

Since getting this car in 2005, my husband and i have experienced reduced engine power.whether going 40mph on a 2 lane road or 70 on the interstate, this continues to happen.we have had this issue "fixed" twice, spent about $1000 on 2 separate "repairs," yet the problem persists.i cannot tell you how scary it is to be going with the flow of traffic and then have your engine power reduced.to be going 70 and then forced below 70 is dangerous.we could have been hit and killed trying to accelerate and pass someone.this actually happened.i know numerous gm owners have had this problem across numerous vehicles.why haven't you forced them to fix it?is it because the government bailed them out, and it would be detrimental to the economy?safety and reliability on roadways should be important, too.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the engine stalled with the illumination of the warning indicator. The vehicle restarted and resumed with the failure recurring numerous times. In addition, the vehicle would jerk prior to the engine stalling. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 123,600. The vin was unavailable.

My car began to have a build up of slugs and began loosing oil pressure and coolant and needed oil added and coolant frequently.oil pressure flat-lined in january of 2012 and it was taken to my mechanic.the slugs were cleaned and a new oil pump was placed because of the build up of slugs.i was advised to change the oil frequently to clean the slug out but it continued to build up and the mystery of loosing coolant oil pressure has bottomed out two more times and i found a article on the internet that a number of gmc vehicles including mine were built with defective cylinder heads due to cracks over time which allows coolant to leak into engine and mix with the oil which builds up slug.i want to know why a recall does not exist.this has cost me several thousands of dollars....i need gmc to man up to the problem and fix it.

Faulty castech head caused coolant fluid to drain into block therefore destroying motor. Gm has known about these faulty heads and refuses to work to resolve problem. Technical service bulletin 06-06-01-019b.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle stalled.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure was unable to be determined. The contact mentioned that the vehicle failed to restart. The failure mileage was 147,000.

Engine losing coolant, with no apparent signs of leakage.coolant appears to be leaking into the engine oil, causing it to sludge, thereby causing engine failure.gm is aware of an issue and issued tsb 06-06-01-019b for defective cylinder head casting.i bought this car used last year and now owe 10000 for a car that needs a 6000 engine replacement. Gm should be made accountable for this since they are well aware of the issue, per their own directive.

Reduced engine power.

We have a 2004 gmc yukon.since we've had it, reduced engine power has become a constant and dangerous problem. Most recently, yesterday, my husband was trying to accelerate to pass a slower vehicle with huge tires on the back only to have this happen. If someone had been behind us, we would have been hit, seriously injured, maybe even dead with some of the circumstances we have had on the interstate. Today is august 23, 2011. We had this vehicle fixed on july 28, 2011, paying almost $600 for it to be taken care of. It says on the ticket that we told them about it and were under the impression this would take care of it.they replaced the accelerator pedal assembly, which i believe included the app sensor, and cleaned the throttle body of excessive carbon build up.after spending $500-600, i want to know why we are still having this problem along with so many others i have seen complain about it online? gmc has a known problem that needs to be resolved.

One side of engine block is burning out all 4 spark plugs; need diagnostic information sent to our mechanic so he can fix this problem.no response.enginelight is on. Total mileage on 2004 yukon llpurchased from dave smith auto, kellog idaho in nov of 2004 is 1,292.yes, this is correct.one thousand two hundred and ninety two miles!i would think gmc or dave smith would be interested in fixing this problem especially with a new vehicle.waiting for them to reply to warranty work.we are a remote site women's shelter.we need a vehicle that runs!

2004 yukon 4.8 l having problems with temp gauge reading 260' and above at anytime . The truck has 72,000 miles and always operated well.

The problem i'm having is a horrible bubbling or gargling sound emmiting from my 2004 yukon exhaust.it sounds really bad, enough to turn peoples heads while i'm sitting at the conveneience store or a drive thru.the dealer in which i bought it from states that they all make this sound, but i'm not stupid.i know others with the same make and year model and they do not have this problem.i just want it fixed.if i'm willing to pay $44,000 for a vehicle i expect it to look and sound great or at least look and sound like a new one.please help!

When my 2004 gmc yukon warms up, a loud repetitive clanging noise eminates from the exhaust system. This can be heard while driving and continues for a period after the vehicle is turned off.the yukon was purchased new on 5/31/04 and began making the noise within 500 miles. Gmc says engineering has been working on the problem since 11/03 and it involves metal in the exhaust system being deformed by the heat. I have spoken with several other yukon owners and made a point to listen to other yukons on the road and have not found another yukon exhibiting the same problem. Gmc refuses to replace the exhaust system. If the metal is deformed, how do i know that it is not leaking fumes into the passenger compartment?

After engine is warmed up, usually after driving just a few miles, there is a loud banging noise that appears to be coming from the muffler. It happens approx every 8-12 seconds with the truck running or off. I took it to the dealer and they said that they didn't hear it, although the sales manager that sold me the vehicle heard it. They said to bring it back later and that there is a bulletin out on it but gmc has not released the parts so they can't fix it even if they did hear it. When i am sitting next to another vehicle, for example at a light, it sounds like something is hitting their vehicle and is coming from mine. With road rage being what it is these days i am afraid that someone will not understand that gmc has "not released the parts" to fix it.

I have a 2004 yukon the third brake light assembly a led light has burned out 5 times since owning the vehicle the warranty has covered the problem i have noticed a lot of yukons and tahoes in the same year span with burned out light problems this is suppose to be a safety item to stop rear end crashes if the warranty did not cover the problem it is a expensive part.

Dt: while driving and without warning the vehicle started slowing down and stalled. And driver has no power and driver has to pull off the road. Caller had fuel pump replaced as a safety precaution, and still having the problem.caller has had three vehicles in the passed 4 or 5 years to have the same problems. Caller?s family members and friends also have problem.

While driving at 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning.the driver tried to restart the vehicle but was unable to do so.the vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic informed the driver that the fuel pump needed to be replaced.please provide further details. *lathe consumer was almost rear ended by a dump truck as a result of the engine shuting down while driving.*tc

9-28-04: my 2004 gmc yukon had 22643 miles on it.i went to get in the car that morning to start it up and it would not start.the vehicle was still under warranty and had to be towed to the dealership.mechanic stated that my fuel pump had went out.i was told that the fuel pumps on these vehicles were faulty.they replaced my fuel pump.5-24-05:my yukon had 50012 miles on it.i got in the vehicle that morning to start it and it would not start.once again it had to be towed into the dealership.the mechanic stated that my fuel pump went out and had to be replaced again.this time it cost us approximately $900.00 to repair.they informed us that the newest fuel pump had a lifetime warranty and if it happens again we will not have to pay for it.when my husband asked why the 2nd fuel pump they put on did not have a lifetime warranty, we were told that gm doesn't warranty any warranty parts.both times this happened i was stranded with my 3 young children.each time they replaced the fuel pumps but they cannot tell me why my fuel pumps seem to quit approximately every 25000 miles.i have contacted gm and they can't give me any answers either.i am in the process of trying to get them to repurchase my vehicle.

The top of the fuel pump assembly rusted through allowing gas fumes to enter the vehicle and the garage in which the vehicle was parked.it also caused hard starting.the replacement fuel pump was of a different design with the top being constructed of aluminum and brass and not steel to prevent rusting.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon.while attempting to open the driver's side door from the exterior of the vehicle, the latch pulled, but the door would not open.the latch would remain stuck in the open position; therefore, the door could not be opened from the passenger compartment as well.the contact must roll down the window and push the handle back into place in order to exit the vehicle with the interior door latch.on a separate occasion, all four doors experienced the same failure.while an occupant was seated in the passenger seat, he leaned up against the door and it opened.the occupant fell out of the vehicle, even though the door was completely shut at the time.the doors would not lock or unlock.the vin was unable to be entered.the failure mileage was 70,000 and current mileage was 85,000.

I just bought a new 2004 gmc yukon, 2wd.miles on it was 188.after purchasing the vehicle, i drove it home which is about 10-15 miles away.as i get close to home, the bell in the car starts to chime, the roof lights turn on, and across the odemeter reader, it reads "passenger door ajar".i parked my car and had him shut the door again.as i drove off, the bell chimes, the lights are still on, and it still reads "passenger door ajar".so i get out and open and close all the doors including the trunk.same problem.this goes on even after i got to the dealership.told the sales manager the problem.he saw it for himself and told me to bring it to the mechanics.went to the mechanics and three of them saw the problem.one of them recognized it and told me that it was a wire loose on the passenger door.he called it an "auschuwaiter" (sp?).he said he would have to take the door apart.the manger called it a "simple situation" and this is what i replied, "it's not "simple" what if i had decided to take that drive with my 9 year old daughter and the problem occurs.and in the excitement, while i'm trying to figure out what to do, she un-buckles her seatbelt and opens the door, falls out into the freeway, i panic and lose control of the car.we cause this huge traffic accident with fatalities, my daughter counted." manager told me, it's a big car with 100,000 parts.not all of them are going to be perfect.1/5000 was his estimate, problematic wise.the mechanic said he had seen this many times on a gmc, but i did not see any complaints filed so here's mine.it's just been a day after i got it repaired because they had to order the part in order to fix the problem.we'll see how it handles now.had i known of this problem, i wouldn't have signed my blood for it.thanks.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon.the vehicle did not pass inspection because the parking brake failed.the vehicle would continue to roll when the parking brake was applied.the vehicle was inspected by the dealer, but no repairs were made.the dealer did not mention what repairs were needed.the current and failure mileages were 87,000.

While driving vehicle suddenly lost acceleration.check engine light appeared on the dashboard and remained on.consumerwas able to pull over by coasting the vehicle to the shoulder.then vehicle stalled.consumer tried to restart vehicle but was unable to do so.then, noticed that the rear passenger wheel smoke was coming from it. Consumerhad the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, andmechanic determined that the emergency parking brake needed to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon.the contact stated that the four wheel drive indicator illuminated.there was a service bulletin for the failure, which has been occurring since the vehicle was purchased.while driving 45 mph, the vehicle dropped to low four wheel drive and it felt like the engine was about to drop.the contact heard a lot of noises.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired at the contact's expense.the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 53,000.

Trying to stop slowly and abs system move my yukon to a point i almost hit the car in front of me. It happens when i try to stop under 10 miles per hour. Also 2wd drive drops to 4wd on highway and lose power. This is dangerous on the highway.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. The contact stated that upon inspection, it was found that the transmission constantly needed to be filled but there were no visible leaks. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the cylinder heads had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

There was malfunction in the power train driveline, which resulted in the truck shifting from 2wd to 4wd by itself. The dealership has serviced the truck 3 times and replaced the 4wd switch and the transfer case. The problem still exist.

Dt: contact states while riding as a passenger infront or back whenmovingforward or the brakes are pressed the seat belt will lock and will not release.until the seat belt is released the occupant moves trying to release the tension.this causes the tension to keep getting tighter.the only way to release the tension in the seatbelt is to unlatch the seat belt.the service dealer stated the seat beltswere working properly.it continued to happen and the vehicle was taken back to the service dealer, they stated this was a design failure and there was nothing that could be do about it.the consumer has not contacted the manufacturer.

I was releasing the third row seating and the locking mechanism broke. There is a "clamp" that locks the seats to the floor this 1/4 inch metal clamp broke in half. Now the driver's side third row seating is not able to be locked into place in order for anyone to ride there.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon.while removing the third row seat from the vehicle, the contact noticed that a piece of the part used to properly latch the seat to the floorboard failed.without this piece, the seat is dangerous to ride in because it is not properly secured to the floorboard.the manufacturer stated that he must purchase the whole part rather than the piece that failed.the manufacturer also stated that the repair would be at the contact's expense.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 54,500 and current mileage was 55,000.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. The contact stated the vehicle does not stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact was driving about 45 mph. The vehicle was taken to sears (3655 sw 22nd st, coral gables, fl 33145. Miami, florida) where the vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred after the vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. While driving at a moderate rate of speed, the brake line failed without warning. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who determined that a brake line had burst and that another brake line was on the verge of bursting. The vehicle was towed to four seasons ford (601 duncan hill rd, hendersonville, nc 28792, (828) 693-4281) where they informed the contact that they would only give him half the money he put down for the vehicle or provide him with another vehicle of the same value. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage and vin were unknown.

The contact own a 2004 gmc yucon- the contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, when he tried to come to a stop the brake pedal extended to the floor.the vehicle could only be stopped by using the emergency brake. The vehicle was driven to a nearby dealer who indicated that the brake line needed to be replaced because of corrosion. The vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 78,271.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the service brake booster warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to brown automotive center (2520 veterans blvd, del rio, tx) and the contact was informed that nhtsa campaign number: 05v043000 (service brakes, hydraulic) had previously been performed and any more repairs would be at the contact's expense. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vehicle did not have the same kind of braking assembly as listed in the recall. The manufacturer was contacted regarding the issue and the case was escalated several times, but no further action was taken. The failure mileage was approximately 247,118. Consumer stated gm charged to repair updated 8/14/18

Rusted brake lines (both) rusted and failed at a critical time putting motorist in dangerous situation at time of failure. Exiting highway at posted speedwith few options on how to stop vehicle.

Brake lines rusted in to causing the lines to weaken.driving to my house , push on brake pedal it went to the floor look under vehicle and there was a pool of brake fluid under the vehicle. This could have been a serious accident in traffic.

Drove vehicle to my destination for shopping, no signs or warning what to follow. Came out of facility, started vehicle, backed up vehicle, stepped on brake, pedal to floor, said this can't be , pulled a little forward same thing no brakes, got out of vehicle found river of brake fluid. Had vehicle towed to my mechanic where he alerted me that all brake lines were rotted out. All lines now need to be replaced at a cost of $1500.00 with non-corrosive lines. This is a disgrace and i have called gm to complain who says there is no recall.people are going to die if this is not fixed.

Lost all brakes when coming to a stop sign, rolled out into intersection, on inspection brake fluid was leaking out from under drivers side floor area.all brake fluid leaked out from reservoir.

Upon applying brakes, while driving downhill, the right rear steel brake line burst resulting in significant loss of braking power.fortunately,y i had significant distance between me and the next car that i could avoid an accident.the vehicle still had some braking power to allow me to drive it to a nearby parking lot where it continued to lose brake fluid. The vehicle was towed to a local gmc dealership where they replaced all the steel lines with copper/nickel lines at a cost of $1,606.00. I was told that the steel lines are rusting out as a result of the de-icing chemicals being used on the roads during the winter. I have had vehicles up to 15 years old in the past and never had such an experience as this. I question the quality of the steel lines. If gm is of the opinion that their steel lines can't withstand the de-icing chemicals then they should have installed copper/nickel lines at the factory.thank you.

Trying to stop slowly and abs system move my yukon to a point i almost hit the car in front of me. It happens when i try to stop under 10 miles per hour. Also 2wd drive drops to 4wd on highway and lose power. This is dangerous on the highway.

While driving down an on ramp i began to apply the brakes to slow down, the brake pedal sunk to the floor and i had no braking capability and the brake warning appeared on the dash.i pumped the brake again and still had no braking capability, i was able to coast to a stop along the side of the road.upon inspection of the brake lines, there was a major leak on the rear driver side, and a smaller leak fromon the front passenger side.

Backing up applied brakes, pedal went to floor, stopped looked under vehicle seen brake fluid leaking from brake lines. Towed vehicle home, looking under vehicle fuel lines and brake lines are very rusted for vehicle with only 80,000 miles.

While traveling at highway speed and rounding a blind curve the traffic ahead had stopped due to a crash. I had to brake harder than normal and the brake pedal just kept depressing further and further until it was all the way to the floor. I wasn't stopping near fast enough and had to veer to the left into the median to avoid making contact with anyone else. It was raining and as i looked under my truck to look for why my brakes were ineffective but couldn't see anything at that time. I chose to try to drive home not sure why i had the problem stopping. The next day was dry and i had my brother pump the brakes while i look underneath and found numerous places where the brake lines were rusting at an alarming rate and one location where the rusted line failed. I repaired the leak i had found and when i tried to bleed the brakes from that repair i would begin an unending run of leaks up and down the metal brake lines for both the front and rear. This yukon has around 260k miles but those brake lines shouldn't be rusting through like they are. I have had more than 15 tahoes, yukons, yukon xls, suburbans, and pickup trucks from gm and never have i had such a run of brake failures as this 2004 model yukon was now going through. Gm says this is normal maintenance but how can one even see if a failure is occurring as many of these lines are concealed by the frame, chassis, and body. I have spoken to other owners of similar vehicles, be it pickups or tahoe's or suburbans of the 2000 to 2006 model years and nearly all have complained of chronic body rust issues but more importantly brake failures from brake lines rusting and then blowing out without warning. Many also cited that of the lines that are visible to inspect they would appear to be ok but just out of view one would have a sudden blow out with no way to see or know there was a problem since the lines are concealed.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. While moving from the park position, the brake system disable warning indicator illuminated. The brake pedal was depressed, but failed to operate. The emergency brakes also failed to operate. The contact stated that there was brake fluid evident under the front of the vehicle. The contact also stated that the brake line was extremely corroded. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 04v045000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 152,000.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the abs warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the brake pads needed replacing, the drums needed to be rotated, and new brake lines were needed. The vehicle was repaired. Shortly after the repairs, when the contact began to drive the vehicle, the abs warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The contact took the vehicle to excel chevrolet (located at 1765 us highway 59 s, jefferson, tx 75657), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

I was heading to ocean city maryland. As i was approaching the toll plaza to go over the bay bridge i slowed down and seem to had stopped when all the sudden my foot was on the brake clear to the floor and i hit the box truck in front of me that was stopped for traffic. I looked at the dash and it was all lit up and blinking. The gentleman told me i had lost my breaks and that when he would move i would begin to move as well. I was not far from the beginning of the bridge but i was six or seven lanes to the left in the easypass lane. I called my brother asking him what to do and he talked me through as i was panicking. I had a full tank of gas and lots of tractor trailers going through the plaza. I was for sure i was going to be hit or hit someone else.i rolled down my windows put my flashers on and began to blow my horn and yelling out the window i have no brakes so that i could get over to the right side of the road right before the bridge. As i did people did stop and let me get over and i had my foot on the brake but they were not stopping the truck. As i was drifting over a toll facility tow truck was on the side and he yelled to me what was wrong.i told him no brakes and he told me to jump out and he jumped in and hit the truck up over a small embankment to get it out of the way of all the traffic.he got it to stop and got out and looked up under the truck and could see that two of the brake lines were snapped.i had the truck towed with over the bay bridge and they had to replace the two brake lines that snapped and they could not bleed the lines fully since they were afraid that the other two lines could snap at any time.i got home and had to have the other two lines done as well. I have to say i was never so scared in my life i could have died for sure if i was going any faster up an over the bridge and down the hill getting off. Worst day of my life.

I was hooking up a dump trailer to my 2004 yukon xl and when i went to do a turn signal and brake light check on the trailer, my brake pedal went to the floor. No warnings of any kind.i am extremely lucky that i was not moving and had just completed driving in high speed traffic for several hundred miles.the failure was total and immediate.i drove the vehicle to a nearby shop with the parking brake.the shop diagnosed the brake failure as corrosionin brake lines and fittings.i just moved to florida this year, previously the vehicle had been driven in heavily salted and brined roads in the northeast.

Brakes were reduced to about 10% of normal and the 'service brakes' light came on.i had to push the pedal all the way down to the floor to stop.the mechanic said all of the brake lines must be replaced as they are rusted, and that this is a typical problem with gmc trucks of this type.

I applied the brakes firmly to avoid hitting a deer.on my next brake application my pedal went to the floor and the service brake system message came on.when i got home i found a ruptured brake line underrate drivers door.all lines are rusted severely as well as most of the undercarriage. I looked online and there are hundreds of complaints on this issue with gm vehicles similar to mine.

While driving down road at approximately 45 mph, hit the brakes when a couple of deer jumped onto road and the pedal went to floor with no braking action at all.had enough time to realize what had happened and hit the parking brake in time before reaching intersection to busy highway.inspection afterward showed brake fluid on the frame near the driver side door where the proportioning valve is located.there was no warning of the failure and had been driving the vehicle around town most of the day.have experienced brake failures on vehicles before and always had half the system remain operational enough to stop without problem.this appears to have been a single failure mode that caused the loss of braking or a simultaneous failure of multiple systems which should be unlikely but seems to happen with improbable regularity based on complaints posted.

Backing up to hook up a trailer, i depressed the brake and it went straight to the floor. Rear brake line ruptured after abs module and right about the fuel tank. I cannot replace just they one line because of corrosion and rust at the module. This is the family suv and im lucky this happened in my yard and not on the highway. I was preparing to leave towing a 5500lb trailer. All these other lines are equally bad and i fear they are going to rupture too. I'm stuck with a 10 year old less than safe vehicle.

I was traveling on the new york state thruway at approximately 4:00pm, in heavy traffic.traffic began to slow and become backed up, due to congestion in a work zone.i applied my brakes, put the brake pedal went all the way to the floor, and i was unable to stop.i avoided colliding with the vehicle in front of me, by maneuvering onto the shoulder, and had to use the emergency brakes to stop.

No problem yet, but is sure to happen. Brake lines rusted. Had same problem on my 2005 gmc yukon denali xl where the metal lines rusted and blew out. Almost caused accident.

As i was backing my truck out of my driveway, i release there was no brake pressure. Then the service brake light came on, i stop the car popped the hood and notice the fluid was low. Check under the car and found the line that goes front to rear is busted in the middle from rust. I had to use my parking brake to slow it down when i moved it back to its space.

Car has low miles for age and today the brake line began to leak under driver side seat because of rust.

The consumer would have to depress the brake pedal hard to the floor for vehicle deceleration. This would cause extended stopping distance. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The cause was not determined.please provide any additional information.

The subject vehicle had recently been parked after towing a 29 foot long travel trailer.it had sat for approximately two weeks since we last used it.during the 2011 30 october snow storm in pa, i went to pick it up to use it.i started down the driveway and went to apply the brakes and the brake pedal traveled to the floor.all of the antilock and brake warning lights appeared on the dash.i was able to stop the vehicle and back it back the driveway and park it.we later called aaa and had it towed to a local chevy dealer.they diagnosed the problem and let us know that they had found a brake line that burst due to corrosion.this brake line is almost directly under the power brake booster assembly and is somewhat hidden from view.it lies atop the frame in this area and according to the dealer had corroded.according to the dealer they had to fabricate a replacement brake line and were able to replace it.they further indicated they looked at the other brake lines and did not see any further indication of corrosion.i have driven the gmc for about ten miles since the repair and the brakes appear to be back to normal. Let me add this, i have owned 15 different vehicles in my life and not one has had to have a steel brake line replaced. This is the first.just like the other gm owners, when these lines fail the braking ability to stop this two ton vehicle is almost non-existent i am very thankful this line did not fail while towing the 29 foot travel trailer.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon.while drivingat 25 mph the contact engaged the brakes and the vehicle would not stop and caused itto crash into the rear of another vehicle.the failure mileage was 70,000.between the two vehicles, fourpeoplesustainedminor injuries.thiswas the second time the brakes failed. The vehicle wasnot drivable and will not be repaired.the current and failure mileage were 70,000.

Brake pedal effort is excessive, resulting in several near misses due to inability to stop rapidly.have notified dealer(s) several times, and they have stated that brakeswere okay.i personally feel that brake pads and/or rotorswere too small for weight of the truck.

While driving at any speed, the brake pedal has to be pushed very hard to get deceleration to occur.when i had to stop quickly after going 65 mph i almost hit the ark highway and transportation department due to the lack of control of stopping.

Dt*: the contact stated while getting an oil change, it was noticed the brake fluid was low.the dealer determined the rear rotors and pads needed to be replaced.updated 12/1/2006 - the rear brake were worn, pitted, and rusted.

2004 yukon customer states that in dec began experiencing a rattle that became louder over a period of a couple weeks**ccthe dealer stated that the rattling was due to the car being in need of lubricated body mount cushions.the consumer states, now it is jan 2007 and problem is recurring. The consumer states the website www.topix.net has numerous complaints dealing with this same issue. Gmc has even created a lubrication kit for the intermediate steering column, but the lubricant only silences the problem for a while.

I have a 2004 yukon that has the rear hatch back. The glass has become detached from the body of the vehicle. It is very expensive to replace. I talking to body shops and the dealership, i have learned that this problem is not that uncommon. One local owner of a auto body shop said they this is a defect in the way these windows are attached to the vehicle.

I very rarely use my rear glass hatch of my 2004 yukon, but recently when having to load up my yukon to evacuate hurricane gustav.when i went to close it, i heard a load pop and noticed that the left rear glass hinge had broken up.when i returned home, i called the gmc dealership where i purchased the vehicle and was told that it is not covered by my extended warranty.they have the replacement in stock, but since they do not deem it a safety issue, the part has not been recalled.i find this shocking since they know that it happens enough to where they keep this item in stock at the dealership and charge you $900 to replace it.

While driving 12 mph drivers side upper ball joint collasped which caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and hit a sign pole head on.the consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealership for repairs.

I recently had my vehicle in my service dept. For an on-going problem of which heritage gmc could not repair. From a standstill, when i would accelerate, the vehicle would lose power and not move after about 20 feet or so and a ?traction active? message would appear on the display. This was a very serious safety concern as the vehicle would end up in the middle of the road with loss of power and cars behind me will almost re end my car. It is an intermittent happening 6 or more time daily, would happen when i would drive from a stop sign or red light. To regain power, you had to let off on the gas peddle and the drive would re-engage. We have been dealing with this for a while and all the gm vehicles run this type of sensor combo on all the wheels telling the computer when to apply brakes or power to the wheels, these get dirty from road salt in upper states and gm will only address 2002 cars, but the 2002-2005 look all alike, this also applies to regular cars, after doing a search there are alot of people having my same problem, this is as safety hazard and is going to cause a fatality.......

Traction active appears on display - while stopped at a very dangerous intersection, i pressed the accelerator only to have the traction active light appear on the display and the vehicle would not move.i had to let off the gas and then press it again in order for the vehicle to move.this is a major safety concern as i am unable to accelerate at an appropriate speed in order to avoid an accident while taking off from a stop.

2004 gmc yukon.speedometer malfunctions.speedometer erratic.reads up to 120 miles per hour and vehicle traveling at 55 mph by gps tracking device.vehicle has approx. 85k miles.*dt

Actuators stopped functioning properly to control a/c and heat in vehicle when turned on. If a/c is turned on, it may run for awhile then turn to heating cycle on one side of the vehicle or the other. This happens whether the vehicleis in motion or not. If heat is called for in winter, i.e. To defrost windows, the heat may or may not run or if running may turn to a/c. Many times in winter the heat turns to a/c and there is no heat entering the vehicle. Noted there were numerous gmc vehicles with the same issue as late as 2015 when looking on the internet.

I noticed that the car was making a rattling sound.at low speeds you can hear it and sometimes when it is idling.seems to come from the exhaust next to the gas tank.

About 4 weeks ago (3000 miles) my speedometer began to periodically malfunction.it would begin to show acceleration in excess of 120 mph even though i would be traveling at speeds less than 45 mph.once the vehicle was turned off it would seem to work normally.this problem quickly developed into a full-time problem.now when my vehicle is in part it may register from 70 to 90 mph.i took the vehicle to the gmc dealer for a quote and was told that they had fixed this same problem on a number of yukons and that i needed a new instrument cluster.

Dt*: the contact stated the speedometeris not working properly. It is not recording the actual speed the vehicle is traveling. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership to determine the problem. The manufacturer has been contacted.

Speedometer shows over 120 mph when parked and while driving, oil gauge does not function properly either, happened right around 40,000 miles, two friends of mine purchased the 2004 envoy and have had the same problem, all vehicles were purchased from the same dealership just a few months apart.

Dt*: the contact stated the speedometer stopped working without prior warning.the odometer continued to represent correct mileage, but the speedometer wouldnot register thespeed.although the dealer did not inspect the vehicle hesuggested the speedometer needed to be replaced.the dealer could not perform the repair because of a lack of parts.the manufacturer was contacted, and they explained the parts were on national backorder.

Fuel gauge reading inaccurately.needle went way past the full mark into the blank area on the bottom of the gauge.also, the speedometer was reading 120mph when i was pulling out of my driveway.i stuck at 70mph when i was stopped.

The speedometermalfunctioned, leaving the needle stuck at over 120 mph.i now have no way of knowing how fast i am traveling, putting myself and others at risk.

I was going to work and notice my speedometer was not moving...and the rmp reading was not moving.i check with my machanic and the price was over $600. To fix andall the cables have to be replaced because they are all put together.gmc know there's a problem with the speedometer cables.we havea 94 gmc and noproblem with the speedometer.

The gauges in the instrument cluster stop working.first the speedometer then the tachometer, and now the amp meter.on going problem.definately a safety concern but no one wants to address the issue.the dealer wants 600.00 dollars to repair ir but does not guarantee it will be the fix. Other vehicals of this year and model have the same issue.

Speedometer just stopped working. Everything was going along fine, then, it just went to past 120 and stayed there. It's now stuck.

Speedometer malfunctioned. I note from doing a web search that therewere many people with this same problem with this vehicle.

- the contact stated that while drivingthe 2004at 45 mph condensation began to build up on the window, the contact turned the defroster on, but it did not operate.the contact drove the vehicle home, then drove the vehicle to the mechanic , who diagnosed the failure as the heater control not directing the heat up to the window.
