The consumer was approaching an intersection and without warning, another driver cut in front of the consumer vehilce.the driver applied the brakes, but the pedal went to the floor.this caused the other vehicle to collide into on the passenger 's side and pushed the vehicle into a tree.both frontal air bags did not deploy.the driver sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.the vehicle was towed to the dealer.please fill in additional information.

- the contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon with a current and failure mileage of 110,000 miles.the contact's vehicle was involved in a crash while driving at 35 mph, and the air bags did not deploy.the crash took place on a dry day.the driver began choking and passed out.the vehicle then ran into the back of a truck sitting at a stop light.the front of the contact's vehicle was damaged.the vehicle was towed to dealer.

On january 3rd, 2021, i was driving to work on slushy, icy secondary roads. The rear end caught some slush, slid sideways and sent me sliding across the oncoming traffic lanes and into a ditch where i collided with a tree head on.upon impact no airbags deployed.

On 01/23/2018 i got into an accident. The brakes when applied hesitated for a few then finally took hold but by that time it was to late and i ended up on someones lawn after crashing through their white picket fence, then rolling completely over on its top, totally the yukon. My concern is the no airbags deployed at all. Thankfully, i only received minor scrapes and bruises. Plus, i am very sore still. I am concerned that this could of been a worse case, where i got seriously injured or even death because the airbags did not deploy upon impact. I have notified my insurance company to make sure there is a written paper trail pertaining to these issues with the yukon. Specifically, the brakes not catching in time and the airbags not deploying. I would appreciate a response back to this matter as soon as you can. I also believe that the accident might not of resulted in totaling my vehicle if the brakes were working properly. When i applied brakes it felt like they were catching but seemed to take forever to stop soon enough, almost a hesitation on the brakes part. Plus, the airbags did not work either.so i need to know where i can file a claim pertaining to totaling my vehicle because of faulty brakes and airbags not deploying. This could of been a worse case!thank you

Dt: thecontactwas slowing down to come to a stop and the abs light and parking light came on. He increased his stopping distance in order to get the vehicle to come to a stop. Took the vehicle to the dealer; they hooked it up to a diagnostic machine. The dealer statedit needed a new electronic box. There wasno free remedy to fix the box. The seat belt on the passenger's side in the second row of the vehicle locked in the buckle, other times it will come loose while in the seat belt. Also when turning the vehicle to the right or left one couldhear a clicking sound. The dealerwas not willing to fixit free of charge.

Multiple failures; a/c odors, door lock, suspension alignment and brakes.there were problems with the following:weather strip was loose, the a/c blew warm, the belts squeaked, there was a mildew odors, the window regulator, the front seat belt squeaked, the door panel, the steering wheel rattled, drive shaft, accelerator pedal, the wipers were noisy, the hinge pin on the radio was loose, engine noises, a/c drain would not drain at times until the passenger door was closed/water lead and caused by the left front floorboard.recall#01v159000, 02v253000, 03v094000. *sc

The contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon. While driving at 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 281,183.

The passenger side window failed to roll down, which was caused by an electrical problem.

Headlights just go off on low beam will work only on high beam.sometimes they work and then at other times they go off. Took to local dealership in brandon mississippi, could not reproduce, howevergot stranded wouldn't crank at 23900 miles, boosted, took to dealership, gauges were clicking and jumping battery was replaced under warrantybut i am afraid this is not the end of this problem.we have had three gmc's with previous battery problems while under warranty.dt

Vehicle having multiple problems with seatbelts. *mr the front seat belt would not pull out or return to position, two weeks later, the same problem occurred in the passenger seat belt.the rear seat belt experienced the same problem.the battery leaked acid from the positive battery post and the material on the drivers seat was wearing out. *sc

Original equipment acdelco battery positive terminal corroded and fell off with no prior warning. No visible signs. Failure can occur at any time, with vehicle either running or parked, and at any location.repair is a battery replacement and repair of acid-damaged parts located under the battery. I've since learned that this failure is common knowledge of gm repair centers and other gm suv vehicle owners.

Battery acid was leaking out of the truck and onto the driveway.the third battery was installed because of thisproblem.

For at least three months the dim headlights would go out and only the high beam lights would work we took the truck inthey could not duplicate. Then thetruck stalled at 23500 miles and it was taken in and a new battery was put inunder warranty.this is the third gmc vehicle we have had with battery problems.we also have a 1999 suburban that has had three batteries installed.we do not know at this point if the new batterywill correct the headlight problem but will certainly return to dealer if not.i would like to know if there are other owners experience the same electrical/shortage problems?dt

Cruise control failure caused by an aberrant voltage on stop lamp circuit. Also the pcm, starter and serpentine belt was replaced.

The serpentine belt has been replaced twice and then the alternator was replaced because when the truck is started it makes a squealing noise and after all that,it still makes the noise.

After driving the vehicle andthen parking it for a while vehiclewould not start.dealer was contacted but was not able to resolve the problem.

Truck has failed to start twice.when driving, at random times all gauges except speedometer and tachometer will shut off, message center will act like ignition is off. Truck has not shut down when this occurs yet, but the computer seems to think the engine is off.

Cruise control failure caused by an aberrant voltage on stop lamp circuit. Also the pcm, starter and serpentine belt was replaced.

Headlights fail to come on sometimes if steering wheel is tilted, it will have to move tilt on steering wheel sometimes they will come on in a certain position on the wheel and the interior dial will not make them come on, if they are on and high beamed or used it will make the lights go out all together, will not come on until tilt is readjusted.*la

In aug 2005, the abs light on our 2001 gmc yukon with 51k miles came on and there was a grinding noise (the pump) underneath the driver's side which remains on when the vehicle is turned off. The abs fuse must be removed to shut off the pump. Our local gmc dealership repaired it for $1100 ($870 for the abs module).in sep 2009, the abs failed again at 91k miles.our gmc dealership helped cover the cost of repair by covering the cost of the module. We had to wait 2 months (nov 2009) before the vehicle could be repaired because we were told that the module was being redesigned to fix these problems. In oct 2014, the abs failed again at 138k miles. Our gmc dealership put us in contact with gmc customer service with the hope that gmc could assist in covering the cost of repair. After several frustrating phone calls with supervisors, we were told that the vehicle was too old and therefore gmc would not assist. During these phone calls gmc stated that there was a recall for the vehicle in "salt-belt" states but not california. Obviously the abs module is defective as a relative with a similar vehicle (chevy tahoe) had the same issue with the abs module. In searching the internet, we found a company that states that they can repair the module for under $100 and guarantees the repair for life. If they can do this, why can't gm make the necessary changes to the abs module and give customers the peace of mind that the vehicle will be safe. Hopefully the nhtsa will use this and similar complaints and force gm to issue a recall on the abs module.

No matter how many times i get my brakes fixed there is always the break and the air brake lights that appear. I have changed to sensors, fuses and still it remains. Every mechanic tells me that no matter what the brake and air brake lights will appear. That needs to be a recall. Seeing any type of warning lights drives me crazy if there is nothing wrong with my brakes then there should be no warnings.

Abs light came on when backing out of driveway.drove 3 miles to a meeting.when ignition turned off the light went out but i could hear a hum.unable to locate source of hum.spent 5 hours in meeting and hum was still present.car started ok but abs light came back on.late in day so i took to local firestone service.they determined it was the abs pump.it was so hot it blistered my finger when i touched it.tapped on pump housing to get it to go off but no success.only way to stop pump was to remove fuse from fuseblock under hood.i am glad i discovered this.if it had been my wife the car most likely would have been put back in our garage without notice of the hum.may have caught fire.are there any examples of this model, or other models having same or similar abs pump and abs computer, catching fire?there is something wrong with the circuit logic.it should "fail safe", i.e. Detect this malfunction and disconnect power.the part has not been removed; it has just been disabled by removing fuse.

My complaint is related to the already in effect recall for gm recall no. 06083. I want to request that another investigation be done. Due to the fact that i have been having the same type of problem with my 2001 gmc yukon sle 5.3l v8. The problem began a few years back in 2006 and until this present time, its getting worse as time passes by. When it happened the very first time i contacted gm and they obviously said that they had no reported incidents as the one that i was describing for my vehicle.then when i saw the recall on the local news in 2007 i gave them a call back and again they claimed that no incidents were reported for my specific model and engine, so they brushed me off quickly as if i were just calling cause i had nothing else to do & was just looking to waste my time and theirs!. I have had a couple of incidents occur where the truck has stall while in drive and at a speed between 10 -40 mph on a southern california fwy (where you can always count on traffic congestion). My family members and myself have been very lucky to have escaped without injury.in trying to understand what's happening with my vehicle i came across many gmc owner forums were complaints from people with my same engine and model suv had been looking for the reason and solution what caused that vehicle behavior. My suv has the same exact issues described in the following paragraph which i copied from the recall explanation : "the crankshaft position can operate intermittently or fail completely. If the sensor operates intermittently, the ses light may illuminate and the vehicle may run rough. The engine may stall, and if so, may re-start immediately or after a cool down period." consequence:"if the sensor becomes completely inoperative, the engine will quit running and will not re-start. Either of these failures can increase the risk of a crash" investigate&help consumers.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon. While driving approximately 50 mph, the engine stalled without warning and the vehicle failed to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 173,000.

Vehicle had been sitting for about 2 hours and consumer drove vehicle less than a block andtemperature gauge was showing hot.consumer pulled over, and black smoke was coming from hood. When vehicle is cold engine makes a knocking noise and is sluggish.duration of the problem has progressed currently affecting vehicle when it warms up.dealer was contacted and was aware of problem. Consumer states the engine has piston problems.

Vehicle stallsat any speed.has stalled 15-20 times. To dealer 3 times, cannot remedy problem.

Intermittent stalling when making a right turn. Dealer was notified, and informed consumer that they could not duplicate the problem.consumer states dealer loaned a vehicle data recorder, however problem has not occurred since august 6th, after vehicle stalls it will start back up without a problem.abs experienced erratic operation.front passenger seat belt needed replaced.

The serpentine belt has been replaced twice and then the alternator was replaced because when the truck is started it makes a squealing noise and after all that,it still makes the noise.

Cruise control failure caused by an aberrant voltage on stop lamp circuit. Also the pcm, starter and serpentine belt was replaced.

On three separate occasions my check engine light came on and all three times the sai (emissions) valves were rusted causing them to fail. The dealer told me since the valves are located directly under theexhaust the condensation falls onto the them causing them to rust.they also said there is no permanent fix for this.

The consumer experienced various steering, suspension and transfer case problems with her 2001 gmc yukon.the cigarette lighter was hanging out.the dealer replaced the housing and element.the parking brake shoes were replaced.teflon grease was installed on driveshaft to alleviate the bumpiness in the rear.license plate light fogged up.the dealer replaced the lamp.the driveshaft was replaced along with the yoke at the rear u-joint.the consumer heard a clunking noise when putting the vehicle in reverse.the dealer determined that the transfer case chain had stretched.the dealer r and r the transfer case and replaced the chain.

The consumer stated the fog lights vibrated excessively when driving, greatly reducing their effectiveness.dealer advised problem was due to the poor design of the fog light mount.other drivers were distracted by the shaking light in their rear view mirror. *scc

When exiting my driveway i went down the street to the stop sign , when i applied the brake the peddle went to the floor and the truck did not stop. It was good that i wasn't going faster. When i took my truck ( youkon ) to the repair shop i explained the issue to the repair man. I got home and he called me back and asked me to return to the shop to take a look at the trucks problems. When returning to the shop the truck was lifted up and he showed me the brake lines and the gas lines that were corroded and needed to be replaced as soon as possible . He also explained the time and labor involved. I was surprised of how much labor and time was involved to repair these issues . He said the cost including parts and labor will be about 2,500. To 3,000. Dollars, that is if he didn't come across any other problems.

Dt:the contact statedin may 2005fuel pump failedon 2001 gmc yukon xl 1500. He had the fuel pump replaced with a new one. When he pulled the old one out he noticed that the wires were burned and melted together. He called gm, andthey told him they would issue a recall in november.the consumer thoughtthis was not right because that was six months away.

This is the second time the fule pump has failed.it's a bran new vehicle!!!.

When pumping gas in the gas tank, the gas would leaks from the filler pipe. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. The mechanic informed the owner that the wiring harness has melted from the fuel pump.

Dt:the caller saidfuel pump had to be replaced. She said there was recall 05v155000on another year, but not this model year.dealer said this vehicle was not in recall. Manufacturer said they will not reimburse the callerbecause vehicle was not included in the recall.

When driving, the engine light appeared on the dashboard.the consumer pulled the vehicle over and parked the vehicle on a slight incline, and smelled a gas odor.the consumer got out of the vehicle to investigate the smell, and noticed fuel leaking from the fuel tank.the consumer drove the vehicle to the dealershipfor inspection, and the mechanicdeterminedthat the fuel pump wiring failed, causing the fuel to leak from the fuel tank.a small leak was found in the evaporative fuel system.the consumer noticed gas leaking at a rate of a quart per 5 minutes and appeared to be coming from the top of the tank.the mechanic found fuel leaking from around the connector which housed wires from the fuel pump and the fuel level sensor. *sc

Dt: 2001, gmc yukon, vehicle had gasoline leakage, consumer could smell leak, check engine lightcame on.consumer took vehicleto the dealer twice, and dealerran test t and he check engine light went off after the test. Dealer reset button.this did not fix gasoline smell. Consumer took vehicle to dealer a third time, anddealer found leak in the gas tank whichis currently being fixed at consumer' s expense.

Vehicle is leaking fuel fromtop oftank assembly.dealership is aware of problem.

Some gm products, including my 2001 gmc yukon, do not come with a door ajar warning system.gm has written, indicating that there is a "standard" door ajar warning system when there is not.gm has made an apparent misrepresentation, fooling customers into believing that the courtesy dome light system (which turns on when the door is open) is a door ajar warning system. I have seen otherinternet complaints regarding this system in gm products.it poses a grave danger to occupants.is there legislation regarding a door ajar warning system and can anything be done about gm?below are examples of whatcan or has occurred. A driver enters a yukon along with three passengers.the domelight will turn on no matter what at this juncture because the doors wereopened, so there would not be cause for alarm as doors close.one of thethree passengers does not close his/her door completely.the driver putsthe key in the ignition and starts the vehicle.the light turns off.no door ajar warning.another example:i opened a rear passenger door of my yukon and the driver's door.the dome light turned on, because it is apparently a standard feature for the light to come on when a door is opened for people to get in and out.i then pushed the passenger door towards it's housing just enough for metal to touch metal (or the apparent sensor), but still "open" in that, without engaging the door opening mechanism, i could still pull it open.i then entered the vehiclethrough the driver's side door and closed it (only the driver's side door).i put the key in the ignition and the dome light turned of. Anyone couldhave pushed or pulled the passenger door open.example: i began backing out of my house one day when one of the doors began to open.no door ajar light was on.had this occurred on the open road, a serious accident could have resulted.the doors on this suv are already heavy, and it is very easy to have a door ajar.

Intermittently drivers door will not latch properly because it will not align up to the stricker plate.vehicle has been inspected by several dealers. Manufacturer not notified. Vehicle experienced excessive wind noise on the drivers side, in an attempt to fix this, the dealer caused the door to warp and also bend, this is why the door will not latch properly.

While driving vehicle's hood flew open due to the hood latch breaking.*mrwhile driving the vehicle's hood latch failed and as a result the hood flew open and damaged the vehicle.the previous day the consumer had the vehicle's oil changed (ohio traffic crash report).

Parking brake failure every year for the past 3 years.yukon xl will not pass state inspection due to parking brake failure.have replaced rear rotors due to parking brake shoe malfunction.rear brake shoe does not disengage and wears prematurely causing parking brake failure and rotor damage every year that state inspection is required.

While applying the emergency brakes. The brake failed to hold.the driver noticed while driving, the brake light appeared on the dashboard and remained on.the consumer drove to the dealer for am inspection. The mechanic informed the consumerthat the sensor for the emergency brake, and the master cylinderneeded to be replacemed.please fill in additional information.

While driving, the vehicle lost brake power.vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic.the problem was with theparking brake which remained on a it came in contact with the rotor.ph

Parkingbrake did not hold.1 rotor was bad and parkingbrake shoes were bad. Even after repair, parking brake goes all the way to floor.i believe brake shoes were defective when vehicle was purchased.this is poor engineering on gm's part.i think i should be reimbursed fully for repairs on parking brake.since there was a service bulletin to dealers, i think the customer should have been advised.this was very unsafe.we had to pay $439.47 for something that should not have happened.this was on 2001 gmc yukon.

I lost braking on my 2001 gmc yukon 4 wd twice during the last month, first time i had 3 brake lines replaced that had failed due to corroston, then a week later another brake line failed while i was towing a boat.i had to down shift to prevent a crash.i have spend over $1500 replacing abs sensors, brake lines, rotors and emergency brake parts, allfailed from corrision. Nothing but brake problems with this yukon with only36k miles .in the repair shop now.

Upon moving to houston, i had an inspection performed on my 2001 gmc yukon.it was found that the parking brake had become engaged, even though i do not even use it, and destroyed my rear left rotor, brake pads, and emergency brake pads.in addition to replacing the rotor and all brake pads on the rear left, i also had to have the brake pads on the right rear replaced as well. I have been driving for an unknown amount of time with no rear brake pads or emergency brake.in other words, had i parked my car on an incline and used the parking brake, it would not hold my car.i also had no rear brakes if my front brakes had failed.i have read forums online and have discovered this to be a problem with several other 2001 yukon owners.i bought the car new in 2001 and have had no need for my parking brake.the total damages were over $500 and there is no guarantee this will not happen again as there is no indication when and if the parking brake activates itself.the indicator light does not come on and the parking brake is fully disengaged.

The emergency brake failed to stop 2001, gmc, yukon when the vehicle was put in drive ,and the emergency brakeswere engaged.this was one of the test requiredfor a inspection sticker in grapevine texas.

While parking and applying the parking brake the consumer noticed that the brake did not hold.as a result, the vehicle will not pass the states inspection. Please provide additional information.

Parking brake will not hold. Vehicle will roll back with the brake fullyapplied. Vehicle has 35000 miles. Brake has been used only about 10 times over the life of the vehicle. Dealer states the brake cannot be adjusted. This is a serious defect.

Dt:2001 gmc yukon.there was a recall #05042, for the parking brake, however the recall did pertain to the consumers vehicle.the parking brake did not work.this started approximately may 25, 2002.the brakes dragged and eventually woreout because of a spring that was not working properly when the parking brake was released.the vehicle has not been in to be serviced for this problem, but was diagnosed by an independent mechanic.updated 1/4/2006 -

The vin number is [xxx] on february 12, 2002, at 9am i had an appointment at clyde revord to have my oil changed and my emergency brake adjusted on my 2001 gmc yukon xl with 22400 miles. After changing the oil the service writer told me that the emergency brake could not be adjusted because it had been worn down due to the fact it had been left on. I proceeded to tell them that it had not been left on. At that point the mechanic chimed in and stated that he could prove that it was left on. He took me out to the shop and pointed out that there was a lot of brake dust indicating it had been left on. He then stated however that he personally has seen a lot of these in for the same problem. Of course what that meant was that they were not willing to cover it under warranty. I contacted gmc and they called the dealer and through their correspondence they determined that due to the fact that there are no service bulletins and no active recalls and by what the service department at clyde revord told them ! that they could not cover it under warranty. I did some investigating of my own by calling speedway chevrolet, the service writer there told me that indeed there is an issue of the emergency brakes being over tightened from the factory and that he personally has seen 40 or so vehicles in for the same issue and that his own vehicle is being serviced for the same thing. I then called clyde revord back and spoke with frank the service manager. He stated that he has no evidence of there being a problem with the emergency brake and he didn't know where speedway chevrolet was getting their info and that "that's a bunch of bologna" he also stated that contrary to there policy of providing excellent customer service that they were not willing to help me or cover this issue under warranty. I then contacted smokey point pontiac gmc and they too have seen issues with these emergency brakes and set up an appointment to have it repaired under warranty on february 25, 2002.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of infor

Emergency brakewill not hold whenvehicle is on an incline. Contacted dealer, and the dealer was not willing to do anything.

My 2001 gmc yukon with 4-wheel disc brakes failed state inspection due to worn out (non-functioning) emergency brakes. I have only used them for parking about 10 times & never for emergency stopping. The dealer who repaired them, told me that due to a clip design problem, they typically wore out without use, right after the truck was purchased. The linings would not remain straight & would wear prematurely. They charged me for some of the repair ($100) but it seems that it should be covered as a recall.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon.while driving 15 mph, the 4-wheel drive service indicator intermittently illuminates on the instrument panel.all 4-wheel drive power was completely lost in the vehicle.she took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the case shift control module failed.the failure has occurred four times since 2004.the dealer replaced the case shift control module each time the failure occurred; however, the contact believes it should not fail every 12 months.she believes that a recall should be issued and the manufacturer should be responsible for the repair.the failure mileage was 23,946 and current mileage was 72,000.

I heard a slight grinding noise, that sounded like a brake dragging. I replaced brakes all the way around, and that didn't stop the noise. I then replaced all the wheel bearings, this did not help either. I tried the u-joints with no luck. I was talking to the person that i got the vehicle from and was told that the rear end had been rebuilt twice! this was before i got the vehicle, and it only had 67000 on it when i got it. Since then i have talked to many yukon owners, and they have had the same issues.

2001 yukon xl suv with 81182 miles on it. Transmission made a popping sound (no forward gears, but reverse gears). Suv has upgraded transmission that had a supposedly better model "front planet" part per gmc transmission specialist. That supposedly superior "front planet" split into (2) parts inside the transmission although it is one molded piece. Resulting explosion of metal caused a $2703.52 transmission rebuild. I have the digital photos and the actual failed parts!

The metal piece holding the 3rd row seat of my 2001 yukon snapped. It is an aluminum piece with a hard coat of plastic on it.i do have the piece.when i was at the dealer talking to them, they mentioned someone else had just been in for the same problem.my issue is if i had been in an accident and someone was in the third row seat their safety would have been highly compromised.the third row seats are hardly used, so wear and tear should not have been an issue.

Parking brake will apply itself and will stay engaged until it decides to release, or untilthe pads and metal shoe is worn out or catches fire from the extreme heat ,if you apply it , it may stay engaged and you won't know it , until it is to late to do anything about it, ,there are thousands of complaints online that has been reported to dealerships , and to gm but they have done nothing.

Pulling into the driveway under normal, dry conditions, the brake pedal went down to the floor, and the brake light on the dash illuminated. We came a few feet from crashing through the garage door.this was a result of the driver's rear brake line springing a leak with no warning whatsoever. The affected part is the formed metal line that is attached to the top of the axle.it appears that the brakeline just rusted completely through.it is likely that all other brake lines could be affected in the exact same manner.

Stepped on brakes in a panic stop. Blew out rusted brake line near front of car. One by one, all of the steel brake lines are failing due to rust. I just blew the steel brake line at the rear of the car near the differential.the abs sensors have been replaced twice due to corrosion and they abs pump has been rebuilt. The parking brakes on this car have been replace 4 times and have never worked correctly.

Brake line just started leaking while in the drive way. The pedal went to the floor.

I was traveling at approximately 35 mph when the car in front braked suddenly.i pressed the brake pedal quickly and firmly to slow the vehicle, and the brakes worked normally.a half mile or so later, at an intersection, when i applied the brakes gradually, the pedal was soft and went all the way to the floor, only barely stopping the vehicle before it entered the intersection.i drove the vehicle home (about a mile) slowly and cautiously and inspected the brakes and found brake fluid coating the underside of the vehicle and what appeared to be rust or corrosion on the brake lines where they crossed the frame near the driver's side wheel axle.

While applying the brakes to stop at an intersection, the brake pedal went to the floor on my 2001 yukon. A severely corroded brake line leading to passenger side front brake failed. Point of failure was at the center of the vehicle under the radiator. During removal of the failed line from it's mounting clip on the vehicle framethe brake line leading to the driver's side front brake was bumped causing it to break as well. On closer inspection it was determined that all brake lines were severely corroded to the point they were ready to fail and all lines required replacement.

Brake lines extremely corroded and line to rear brakes completely failed leaking fluid.vehicle failed while driving and attempting to stop.vehicles stopping distance greatly increased.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the brakes failed. The contact was able to stop the vehicle by using the emergency brake. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was determined that the front driver's side and rear brake lines failed because of rust. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 200,000.

Hard brake lines have completely corroded and brake fluid flows profusely from the corroded lines.brake pedal goes to floor and vehicle is unable to stop.had to put into neutral and use parking brake to avoid an accident.gmc service department is unaware of any service bulletins or kits to replace defective and corroded brake lines on these truck and suvs.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon. The contact stated that pulling up to a stop light, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard extending the braking distance. The contact stated that the abs and brake warning lights remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the brake line disintegrated and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Neither the dealer nor manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

Brake system failed while driving.brake pedal immediately went to the floor while driving at about 35 mph.pumped brakes to get slowed down and eventually stopped.exited vehicle on drivers side door and found fluid puddle under the drivers side of the vehicle.upon pumping the brakes while stopped, i noticed brake fluid squirting out under the drivers side door.after towing the vehicle home, i have confirmed a severely corroded metal brake line has rusted through and broken open.

Abs system activates during braking, making the vehicle almost unable to completely stop. When calling gmc, i was told that it was not covered under any recalls.

I was driving my yukon in rush hour traffic when i found it necessary to attempt a panic stop. I pressed on the brake pedal and felt somthing give way and the pedal went to the floor. I attempted applying the brakes again and again the brake pedal went to the floor. I nursed the vehicle to a parking lot and looked underneath and found brake fluid dripping from the frame on the drivers side just before the rear wheel. I inspected the brake lines and found them to be very corroded and the one line leading to the rear brakes was split open. I have since replaced the brake line from the abs unit under the drivers seat to the junction near the spare wheel. I have inspected the other brake lines and found they are corroded also.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon. While driving at an unknown speed on the highway, the contact depressed the brake pedal with excessive force in order to avoid another vehicle. The contact noticed that some of the brake functionality was lost. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that a piston was defective and needed to be replaced. Three months later, while trying to shift gears, the contact heard an abnormal popping sound. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake lines were defective and needed to be replaced. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 250,000.

Brakes were weak, almost to floor so the car was towed home. While slowly backing the car into driveway the brakes failed completely. Stepped on emergency brake and intermediate cable broke. The e-brake cable failed because of rust and the brake lines to the ebcm where they go over frame all failed. The only part on this car that has rusted beyond anything normal are the brake lines. Unbelievably rusted! when the brakes (e-brake and both lines) all failed the car rolled out of controlled into a tree. The rear hatch glass shattered and i had a sore neck for 5-days. This is apparently a common problem to this car where salt is used. The brakes started to go weak (1-line must have failed) as my wife approached a toll booth, only luck prevented a catastrophic event from happening. I can't believe we were not notified or the car was not recalled! gm and the nhtsa shame on you. You knew of a safety problem and have done nothing. Gm stating that you will still have brakes if the line fails is a weak argument, you have to press much harder after the first line goes and the other line is ready to fail. Guess what happens, no brakes. Please have a gm executive drive one of these death traps and hit the brakes hard. The last thing that should rust are the brake lines. A little common sense goes a long way.

Failed brakes due to the corroded brake lines- safety issue.

Gm mechanic experienced brake line failure of rear line during a state inspection, after rear line was repaired, front brake lines failed on the gm mechanic during a test drive at highway speed. All brake lines were determined in immediate need of replacement as well as front calibers..

I was driving locally, when i used my brakes to slow down as i was approaching a red light i did not have properly functioning brakes, pedal went to floor,i used emergency brake this prevented me from hitting car in front of me.this occurred in august,2012.brake lines were determined to have rusted out, brakes failed ,a $444 repair was needed. In november 2013 a similar incident occurred with my son driving. This resulted in a $ 1111 dollar repair bill. And today july 8 2014 while backing out onto street another brake failure occurred bill to be determined ? updated 3/18/2015

Brake lines failed due to rust while driving on a back road. Lucky for me i was not on the highway yet and was able to use the emergency brake to stop. After looking into the problem, it was discovered that all of the lines were at the point where they need to be replaced.

Driving vehicle at approx 45mph, came to stop at red light and brake pedal went completely to the floor.pumped the brake pedal again and nothing.down shifted transmission to slow down and pressed the emergency brake to come to a stop.pulled over to the side of the road, lifted the hood no brake fluid in rear section of master cylinder.noticed brake fluid dripping under the front of the drivers door on the ground.had the vehicle towed home and looked under the vehicle and the brake line was dripping fluid.the brake lines are completely rusted and the frame is really rusted.just got the vehicle out of the gmc shop for routine service. Can't figure why they didn't notice or at least tell me that i might have a problem.i called them and advise what issue i was having.they advised that gm would not cove the issue and 1300.00 would maybe cover the line replacement plus.i am not happy.worked hard to buy this vehicle and now that i am retired from the military i really do not have the funds to replace the lines and do something about the rusty frame.

The antilock brake module failed and i lost all antilock capability. When it fails, it makes the sound of a small fan motor. It quit when i parked and turned the yukon off. This module cost me $800 to replace. Incredible for a vehicle with 45,000 miles.

I would like to report the catastrophic failure of the brake lines on my suv. While driving home from work, the brake light on the dash illuminated, the breaks felt a little soft upon braking. Took it in to the shop for evaluation and was told that the brake lines from the abs to the rear breaks had ruptured.this occurred at 54,444 miles on aug 16, 2007. Approximately 8 months later, the same situation happened, brake warning light came on and brakes felt spongy. Took it into the shop and was told that the brake lines from the abs to the front brakes had ruptured this time.this happened on 3/28/08 and 58,921 miles. All lines were fabricated and replaced.i have had no additional problems since the repair.

Recurrence of antilock-brake problem which was cause of an earlier gm recall of this same vehicle.earlier recall resulted in a 1.5 hour task to remove, clean and re-install abs sensor with a rust-preventative applied.the same problem is recurring now and gm customer support refuses to re-address the problem on my vehicle.background:in april 2005, the national highway traffic safety administration opened an investigation of more than 1.2 million gm pickups and suvs in 20 states because of questions over the antilock brakes. In 2005, gm spokesman alan adler said road grime can wedge its way into a plastic piece that covers the abs sensor near the wheel hub, resulting in salt corrosion.the corrosion leads the sensors to activate the abs system at speeds of 3.7 miles per hour to 10 mph, requiring a longer stopping distance. Gm said there have been 228 crashes reported through the end of may 2005, including 10 minor injuries.the company recalled about 150,000 pickups in eastern canada in november 2004 from the same model years because of the condition in the antilock brakes.adler said the company decided to issue the 2005 recall in 14 states based upon incident rates. Gm and the government have received more than 700 complaints about the problem.

Total failure of steel brake line (front to rear)while pulling out of a parking lot after a doctor visiti was shocked to feel my brake pedal go to the floor, luckily the split system allowed me to stop before entering a busy highway. Car was towed to a local dealerfor repair the owner says this happens alot after paying a 250.00 bill i was on my wayconsidering risks envolved i feel manufacturers should bemade to by law to use stainless material for all brake components.they must now be using a low grade steel (no doubt to cut manufacturing costs).

While performing regular maintenance on my 2001 gmc yukon 4wd 5.3 ltr, i observed severe corrosion of brake lines at both front and rear of vehicle.corrosion is so severe that perforation is likely to occur at any time, potentially resulting in complete brake loss.

The brake lines are so corroded there are holes in themand now i have to replace them. I am lucky that no one got injured.

Checking for abs and brake light on.replaced electronic brake traction control module.

I applied the brakes on my vehicle in the driveway and felt a pop and the brake pedal went to the floor.i pumped the pedal a few times and it went to the floor each time.i looked around the vehicle and there was a puddle of brake fluid under the drivers side rear door.i felt around the frame where the leak was and felt a very corroded brake line.i searched online and found that many gm truck owners have had this problem and there is an nhtsa investigation and engineering analysis.i'd like to know if gm is going to recall these trucks for this issue.

Slow speed stop approaching a locked gate. Brake pedal was applied. Pedal dropped to the floor with complete loss of brake pressure. Brake pedal was pumped twice with the final application locking one rear wheel. The above vehicle stopped within 2 feet of striking a metal security gate. Brake fluid was observed dripping from under the drivers side compartment on to the ground. Vehicle was towed to my mechanic. Mechanic found that there was excessive rust on all metal brake tubing. One of the metal brake lines from the master cylinder to the abs pump completely rusted through causing loss of all brake pressure and brake failure. All metal brake lines had to be replaced. Before and after the incident there were no warning indicator lights that were activated on the dash.

I have a 2001 gmc yukonsuv. The abs controller module went out at 22,k miles and cost $1900 to replace. At a gmc dealer and was not covered under warranty although the car was still in warranty.this week at ~45k miles it went out again and cost $1750 at a local garage. Some thing is definitely wrong when two such modules fail in such a short time.there is a very definite safety issue here. I am a very conservative safe driver buthave learned on the internet that such failures are common.a recall should be required of general motors!

Dt: the brakes were replaced at the dealer about a year ago.there is an ongoing investigation, the number is pe05020.

We have a problem with the abs system on our yukon and the dealer insists that it is an isolated case but i have found multiple complaints online for the same problem. This problem is extremely dangerous since the vehicle has been designed to brake with much reliance on the abs system. By this i mean that the 2001 gmc yukon does not have a brake proportioning valve that will redirect braking force towards the front brakes as the vehicle mass shifts forward under braking loads. This in turn causes the rear brakes to lock up prematurely under moderate to heavy brake application. It has nearly caused our suv to roll-over on one occasion and frankly, we're afraid to simply sell it and pass the life threatening problem onto someone else. I am deeply disappointed with gmc for not addressing this deadly problem in the western states and only claiming that "snow belt" state vehicles are affected. Please help us and others that have been through the ringer with multiple gmc dealership service centers that refuse to admit that there is a glaring problem. Thank you.

Dt: there was recall for the brakes, but the consumers state was not included. The abs system light illuminated. The consumer had someone look at it and was told it was not working properly. It still stops and doesn't make any type of funny noise. The abs light and emergency light stays on all the time. This started around august 15, 2005.the consumer has not taken the vehicle to the dealer.

Dt: thecontactwas slowing down to come to a stop and the abs light and parking light came on. He increased his stopping distance in order to get the vehicle to come to a stop. Was driving truck and noticed loud motor noise in addition to engine running.turned truck off in garage and a motor noise was still running with engine turned off.abs light on dash illuminated.unloaded child, self and groceries from truck.30 minutes later, (trying to figure out next step to correct problem since it was a sunday), motor noise is still running and engine is off.drove truck to firestone garage.turned engine off, motor noise still running.garage hooked truck up to diagnostic system and said that there was a failure in abs system.they disconnected abs system and motor noise stopped.said that the part was dangerously hot and that this could have been very bad because the abs system sits right under/over the gas tank.can you imagine what could have happened to my family and house if it caused a fire in my garage?what if i couldn't have found a garage that was open on sunday afternoon?there aren't many, believe me.i have received a quote to have part replaced, but have not fixed yet.it is very inconvenient for me to leave my truck at a dealership for the length of time this is going to take to be diagnosed again (and of course the dealer wants me to pay the $99 diagnostic fee again after i have already paid this once to firestone).i do not feel that the abs system should fail on a truck that is only 5 years old.

The ebcm went out on my 2001 gmc yukon abs system causing the abs pump to run continually even without the key on.pulling the fuse stopped the pump from running, but i don't have abs, which to me is a safety concern.gm should recall this module for safety reasons, especially since there is a long list of vehicals with this known problem.i have not replaced this part due to the $1000 price from the dealer, nor do i intend to until gm issues a recall on this defective part.for the money that i gave gm for this vehical, i expect more customer service that this, i have given them enough money for them to just brush my safety (and others' safety as well) aside.

Dt: the consumer stated that the abs brakes engaged at low speeds,25 mph. This has been happening for three months. Theconsumer has taken the vehicle to the dealer to be examined, but did not think he should have to pay for repairs. The consumer took the truck to his mechanic. But,did not have the vehicle fixed. The consumer contacted gm, and they offered no free remedy. The vehicle is a 2001 gmc yukon.

Dt*:the contact stated the abs activates at low speeds and there is an increased stopping distance.there is a recall, nhtsa#05v379000 concerning the antilock brakes.the vehicle is experiencing the same problems as indicated in the recall, but is not included in the recall due to the vin.

Dt:contact states the abs comes on while driving approximately 5 mph, causing the manual brakes to pump at low speed, leading to extended stopping distances.the service dealer replaced the right front hub and the sensor.the abs light did not illuminate, indicating there were some problems with the abs.this occurred during normal weather conditions.

I have a 2001 gmc yukon slt, and i have had an abs issue. I heard a constant running sound, even when the vehicle is not running. Narrowed it down to the abs, and had to pull the fuse to stop it. Now my brake & abs lights are constantly illuminated. The dealers will not fix it, just replace them. Which is around a grand to do. Since there is no recall outside the "salt belt" states they won't help us. I've found someone in the area with the same problem. I research it online, and see it appears to be an common safety problem. There is a recall out, but does not apply here in fort walton beach, florida. In which were are on the coast an subject to salt waters of the gulf coast. I've noticed it on nhtsa campaign id # 05v379000.it affects "salt belt" states of connecticut, delaware, illinois, indiana, iowa, maryland, massachusetts, maine, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhoda island, vermont, west virginia, wisconsin and the district of columbia only.... Please extend recall area for other locations that have the same problem. Maybe coastal areas, etc.

The antilock brakes on my 2001 gmc yukon xl [xxx] activate at low speeds and when cornering on dry pavement.this is annoying and disconcerting.i feel that my stopping distance is increased and pedal effort is also increased.the problem is getting worse. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

2001 gmc yukon with brake problems. Consumer states that his dad was driving and stated that the brakes weren't working properly which caused him to rear end the vehicle in front of him. No one was injured in this incident.the consumer stated the accident happened due to a recall notification that was not received. The recall was about a brake sensor that could corrode over a period of time.

2001 gmc yukon with anti-lock brake problems. Consumer states that the abs system is activating at slow speeds while trying to stop. Consumer was informed that his vehicle was not covered under the recall.the consumer was informed the recall only covered northern states and the state where he lived was not considered northern.

Dt: the contact states there is a nhtsa recall campaign 05v379000 concerning the anti lock brakes.this vehicle has the same problemsas indicated in the recall, but it is not included in the recall due the contact'sresidence. He was aware of the defect before the recall was issued because of a technical service bulletin. The vehicle has not been repaired at this time due to the excessive expense. Update 1/11/2006 - the abs activated at low speeds resulting in extended stopping distance.

Abs light/brake light nhtsa campaign number: 05v379000 i called gmc as my vehicle is exhibiting symptoms of abs sensor failure. They said it will be jan 2006 before recall begins, may be 11/2006 before letters go. They would not authorize dealer to look at vehicle or make repairs. My vehicle make/model/year show up in campaign announcement but they said that doesn't mean gmc has begun a recall.

I was driving home and my anti-lock brake light came on.i drove home and turned off the car but it did not completely shut off. The battery was disconnected at the advice of the dealer as to not cause further damage. The car was towed to the dealership to fix. The cause of the problem was the ebcm internal relay shorted out causing abs pump to constantly run. The part was replaced costing over $1200. This also caused damage to the battery so it was also replaced.

Brakes would lock up for no apparent reason. No warnings were given this continued several times with the dealership continually saying that there was no problem until i dropped the vehicle off at the dealership with the brakes (all four) completely locked up.

Abs module failure at around 39,000 miles.removed abs fuse to get motor to stop running continuously, as it was extremely hot.called dealership about repairing the motor, but they do not repair the modules, only replace entire module for $1000 (with the exact same module).sent module to a company that replaced the faulty parts for $100, with parts that well exceed shoddy oem standards, with a lifetime warranty on the parts as well.

Gmc yukon anti lock brake problems. Activation during slow speed stops.

Abs braking system totally failed and went out.replaced abs.was told by two different mechanics that they had replaced a lot of these systems recently. Parking brake went out.used, maybe 5 times.have not replaced yet.was also told that it was common for thissystem to gooutwithout use.

Dt:the contact stated the abs activated at low speeds, the absspeed sensor has been replaced twice.there was nhtsa recall campaign05v379000, regarding the antilock brakes.the vehicle had the same problems as indicated in the recall; however, it was not included in the recall due to the vin.

Abs system had to be disabled because of abs pump running when vehicle was shut off.because pump was running it caused the battery to die several times until my mechanic disconnected the pump. I was told this part would cost 1200.00 to replace.

Consumer calledand complained about brakes, intermittentlyat every600 miles average, the abs system need to be replaced at consumer's expenses. Dealer indicated that consumer needed to clean the sensor and the bearing,.also, they stated that gmc and nhtsa has a tsb on this issues.

I read about the investigation about the brakes on gm's suv's. I have a 2001 gmc yukon and when you apply the brakes, just before it stops the anti-lock brakes starts pulsing and the vehicle continues forward 3 to 10 feet. The vehicle is at the dealer right now getting the oil changed and i am getting a quote on the brakes. I called gm's warranty division and they said it is not a recall yet. My file # is1-332799234.

While braking on a rough surface atconstruction zone abs activated, causing nearly complete loss of stopping ability.

Applied brakes on slight icey driveway, ebcm went out for good. Wheel speed sensor recall was just repaired just before this happened.$1250 to repair.

According to gm, my vehicle is not included in recall #05068 front wheel speed sensor corrosion.however, my vehicle most certainly did have this defect, which came close to causing me 2 rear-end collisions.i had the repairs made at a gm dealer and am seeking reimbursement, but have been told i can't be because my vin is not on the recall.please help me notify gm that they need to include my vehicle and send me the recall notice.

While traveling over railroad tracks i had to brake suddenly to not hit a car that quickly stopped in font of me.i was going about 25-30 mph.as i braked over the tracks the abs kicked in caused the vehicle to swerve to the right.i hit the guard rail with the right front quarter causing $3500 in damage.nothing has been done to fix this problem.

Antilock brake system is not working properly.vehicle does not stop when braking.

While braking on a rough road, abs came on without cause and created a total loss of braking ability.

Dt: while driving onthe interstate the owner saw the abs light come on and didn't know what it was. This occurred in july 2005. The owner returned home from a trip. The owner heard a noise and thought it was a refrigerator in the garage. The noise continued all night. Then the owner took the vehicle to mechanic, and upon inspection, he noted abs motor kept running and had to be replaced. The mechanic unhooked the abs motor. The noise quit, but the abs light was still on. The owner knew about the abs unit module recall , and wondered if this it related to the motor having to be replaced. She did not haveproblems with the abs activating. This recall 05v379000. This vehicle wasnot included in the recall, according to her dealership.

Gmc yukon 2001 abs brake engagement at low speed (see: nhtsa action number pe05020).no accident yet but it will happen without repairs.vehicle not used much in summer time.

Gm has recalled several of its suvs and pickups due to a bad anti-lock brake design.this has occurred in canada and 14 us states of which minnesota is not included.this past fall i was having the described problems of the anti-lock brakes coming on whenever i was braking at slow speeds.this usually occurred at stop signs.i didn't feel safe with the brakes and the impending winter and decided to take it in to get fixed.they replaced a sensor saying it was bad and i paid ~$230 for the fix.prior to getting it fixed i had onstar run diagnostics to see if there was a problem.after getting it fixed and hearing of the recall in canada i spoke with gm who said that they wouldn't do anything for me.now with these 14 other states i am furious.it seems like they should be covering the costs of my repairs since i had the exact same problems.to pick and choose the states while compromising safety is absurd.any information or recourse you could share would be appreciated.

2001 gmc yukon ebcm failure.this has occurred twice in three years. The first occurrence was just over the manufacturers warranty period and gmc paid for the part and i paid for the labor only after a multitude of complaints to gmc.the module has failed again.this is a serious flaw and needs to be addressed and the dealer/manufacturer is choosing to put their customers at risk and not addressing the problem.

While driving, consumer noticed air bag indicator light flashing throughout travel at all times. Dealershipserviced vehicle, and noticed brake control module needed to be replaced.

The brake pedal had become increasingly hard to push over the course of a few weeks. Finally, the abs warning light came on and the abs pump ran continually, heating the floor pan of the vehicle. I removed the abs fuse to stop the pump. This in turn has disabled the abs and the traction control system on the vehicle. In researching the issue, it seems the repair from gm is very expensive ($1100) and uses the same version of a commonly failing part that might only last another 40-50k miles.

Failure of abs control module. Failure leads to continuous operation of actuator even when the vehicle is off. Floor pan heats up. Traction control and abs system is inoperable. Braking is affected. Multiple similar failures are noted on web searches and blogs for a range of yukon model years, including multiple failures on the same vehicle. Replacement cost about $1080.

Abs and park brake light illuminated.result was ebcm (electronic brake control module) bad which i was told by the dealer could cause total brake failure.repairs cost $959.00 and according to the research i have done, this is very common around 80,000 miles.mine is at 83,000!

The contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon.the contact stated that the front and rear brake lines were corroded.the manufacturer advised the contact that they were no longer producing the brake lines. The contact had to have the brake lines customized for his specific vehicle. The dealer advised the contact that the failure was common for his year, make and model yet there were no recalls for the failure. The vehicle was left with the dealer where the contact was awaiting repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the steering wheel became seized causing the vehicle to crash into an embankment. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a crushed pelvis in three areas, left leg and ankle nerve damage and dislocated right shoulder. The front passenger sustained a broken left leg and ankle, broken jaw and front and side teeth were knocked out which required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.

Consumerwas driving 75 mph when steering suddenly failed. Dealer informed consumer that ebo sensor had failed, which in turn, causedsteering to go out without any prior warning. And that gmc was aware of the problem.

Upon completing a 400 mile vacation, i pulled into my driveway at home, while pulling a large camper, and the power steering failed, good thing i was not on the highway when this happened. I had the vehicle towed to the nearest gm. Dealer and they ended up replacing the power steering pump. The pump shaft sheared in two.

Vehicle pull to the right, checked alignment and tire balanced possibly a component of the steering column

Dt*:the contact stated while turning sharply at low speeds the steering wheel made a popping noise.the dealer recommended greasing the steering column, but informed the contact this would not correct the problem permanently.therefore, the dealer was unable to offer any permanent solution.

Tilt steering wheel locks inup position. Dealer has inspectedvehicle.consumer has been experiencing problems with firestone tires, p235/70r16,tires lose air, have leaking valve stems, and have tiny pin holes in them.

The steering wheel shakes whenever making a turn, and there is a loud noise coming from the driveline.vehicle's performance continues to get worse.manufacture offers no assistance.......steering shaft failed.

The consumer experienced a problem with the rear liftgate glass. The upper right hinge on the glass to the liftgatebroke. The entire glass unit has to be replaced. The consumer has contacted the manufacturer who has been of no assistance.provide further details.the dealer stated that the failure wasa common and known problem.*tc*b

The right window hinge on the rear "lift gate" has broken after 68,000 miles and three and half years of usage. The hinge has failed due to fatigue from normal, occasional use on a well maintained, garage kept vehicle. This failure, in my opinion as a mechanical engineer, is a factory design defect. The safety issue i have with this problem is that after hinge breaks, the glass no longer seals properly and hangs ajar allowing exhaust gases to be vacuumed into the passenger compartment. This problem requires a $1400 gm or a $600 dollar after market replacement of the entire rear window. This is even more disheartening knowing that it will ultimately fail again in three years. Thanks for your ear and have a great day.

I was exiting the 5 freeway northbound onto the 55 north when my carred suddenly tilted to the left severely.i did not jerk back the wheel and it stratightened itself out.i pulled over and i had a flat left rear tire.i drove to the dealer and told them iw wanted new tires (my wife had previously requested new tires.they refused,, iwent to costco bought new michellens .costco filled my flat and they could not get the tire to leak.it looked perfect and near new. Was sold new vehicle with p265 tires. Gmc says the dealer can put any tire he wants on the vehicle, the dealer didn't know it states in owners manual don't use tire chais with p265 tires.see page 6-52 yukon 2001 owners manual. I have filed a complaint with gmc #c05410969.i feel it is a serious condition for a dealer to be able to sell a vehicle with p265 tires withouthaving to at least worn buyerthat they can not use snow chains on p265. I really feel this is a dangerous dealerselling practice. Note: > this applies to all gmc pickup's and suv's.

On 8/7/2001 i took my gmc yukon xl to the dealer and requested they replace my factory installed heavy duty trailer receiver hitch due to it bending up approximately 3" due to the torsion bars pulling up on the hitch to put more weight on the front wheels.i am towing a 26' hi-lo travel trailer that is considerably less weight than the gmc hitch is designed for.i have pulled this same trailer with the same trailer hitch ball, torsion bars, sway bars pulling it with my 1997 ford explorer.the trailer hitch receiver never bent like the gmc receiver hitch did on my first trip to canada.i spoke to the service manager, mr. Holzhaver, and showed him both the gmc bent receiver hitch and the ford explorer undamaged receiver hitch. He refused to replace the trailer hitch and said it was not covered under the factory warranty. The design of this trailer receiver hitch is unsafe and should not be able to bend up 3 inches when the torsion bars are installed. If the hitch breaks loose this 26' trailer could come loose causing a devastating accident on our highways. Your co-operation in getting this hitch replaced and redesigned would be greatly appreciated.

On a recent trip to canada it was found that four(4) of the welds holding the square receiver to the horizontal member were cracked, one weld was ok. Not being satisifed with the weight distribution performance of the hitch i had contacted can-am rv center (towing specalists) in ontario canada to check the hitch while i was up there. When raising the vehicle on the lift they found four cracked welds which they repaired and attached some additional members to the frame in order to transfer more weight to the front axle. Prior to this modification i was reducing the front axle load by 600#, which made the front end of the vehicle light. I believe this receiver is over rated and very dangerous. This factory receiver is rated at 12000# trailer weight and 1500# tongue weight which i believe to be over rated. It also does not transfer the weight evenly over the vehicle as it should. I am towing a 9000# trailer with a hitch weight of 1200#. It appears that the gm priorty is selling yukon's and including a receiver from the lowest bidder. As of this date i have been told by gm that they not reimburse me for the weld fix($70) because it was not done by a gm dealer. If someone drops a $40,000 trailer on the interstate it will cost gm more than $70.good luck and thanks, lloyd badman.

While parked in the garage, the rear tailgate glass exploded on a 40 degree day.i filed a police report.the police found that the glass exploded from the inside out.the rear shocks were pushed into the lifted (up) position, but the window was still latched shut.glass was blown everywhere in the garage and was all over the rear seat where my children sit.the dealer wasn't interested in seeing the truck, they just told me to call my insurance company.i filed a complaint (#03702924) with gm customer service.

I was driving on a busy highway in feb of 2002 and it was sleeting, i was using my windshield wipers to clear the window. The right fornt wiper arm came loose as the wiper started the up stroke and then just stayed in the "up" position, it got tangled up into the left wiper arm and bent the arm to where the wipers could not be used. I took the yukon into a gmc dealer who was close by, they refused to work on it since i had not purchased the vehicle there, so i was forced to drive approx. 50 miles to the dealer i bought it from to get it repaired. They repaired the vehicle and told me that the wipers on this vehicle sometimes do that, in fact he said he had already repaired two that same day and i should carry a 13mm wrench with me and check the tightness on the arms from time to time. The next incident happened in april and it was misting rain, i had just turned on my wipers when i saw the left front wiper arm come lose and stopped wiping. I was able to get the wipers off before it got tangled up with the right wiper arm. I used the 13mm wrench, that the dealer recommened i buy, and tightened it. I believe this could be a serious saftey feature if this happened in heavy traffic while it was raining or sleeting hard. The incident with the rear defrost happened in april of 2002. I was driving through town and the rear windows (it has cargo doors, 1 window in each door) start to fog up, i turned on the rear defrost and the right rear windo in the cargo door cleared up within seconds, the window on the left rear cargo door never did. The dealer is scheduled to look at this problem on 05/06/2002. This seriously impairs your vision when you are driving and one of the rear windows won't defog/\.
