Air bag indicator has lit on many occasions for last several weeks. Dealer claims they cannot find a problem or make it light, although there was an error code in the vehicle computer. Dealer attempted to charge me for checking as extended warranty would not cover. We drive in fear that one or both air bags may deploy at any time due to a short circuit, causing a major accident.

The airbag did not deploy in a head on collision resulting in injuries.nlm

Air bag light appears on dashboard untilvehicle is turned off. Dealership is aware ofproblem.

Rear windows inoperable 3 times/right front seat belt locks up, have to unbelt to get slack so passengers reluctant to use belt/transmission has trouble finding first gear/rear end hums/front end feels "loose" after control arms replaced twice/tires squeal at very low speeds/accel pedal stuck to floor, then started coming apart/air bag warning light came on until 3rd repair/leather seats split at seam, repairs sloppy.

Airbag light stayed illuminated , indictating a defect and either inoperative or sudden deployment of airbags. Cause is unknown.please provide further information.

Air bag warning light iluminates, indicating a malfunction within system . Also, whenvehicle isbeing driven it loses power and stalls, cause unknown/passenger'sarm rest fell off.please give any further details.

Air bag light illuminates on dashboard, has occurred four other times. Dealer has been notified about problem; however, has not been able to service malfunction.

Frontal collision at 40-45 mph, neither airbag deployed. Driver suffered head injury.*yd

Dt: the contact stated that while traveling 31 mph on a gravel road in dry conditions the contact lost control of the vehicle andit struck a tree.upon impact, the airbags did not deploy.the front passenger had to be extracted from the vehicle.the dashboard collapsed into the front seat along with the firewall.there were3 injuries, and a police report was taken.the vehicle was totaled. A gm representative retrieved the black detection box, verified the speed of 31 mph, and determined that theairbags should have deployed.gm purchased the salvaged vehicle from theinsurance company and destroyed it.

Airbag light comes on intermittently.has happened 3 times and is now at dealer. Dealer is having problem with airbag sensor clips, which keep failing after replacement.dealer considers this a safety issue as airbag could deploy while driving.

My new gmc was shipped without a drivers side airbag.we had an intermittant indication (warnining light) about 4 weeks after we purchased the vechicle.i believe the air bag was taken/not installed at the factory and that the wiring was rigged to show an airbag was installed.i contacted gm customer service, with no response other then they created a file.bottomline...if an airbag is not installed the system should indicate a fault.if my airbag was taken there may be other famlies driving around without an airbag.i would like to know if an airbag is not installed how it could pass a systems sensor check.the local gm dealer has ordered a new airbag.

My wifes vehicle left the road where she tried to correct and vehicle rolled over, killing her as she was by herself. None of the airbags deployed, and the vehicle was a complete disaster.

Problems with air bag light coming on intermittently. *mr codes were found for the left front side air bag and a recall was found regarding this issue but the vin number was not included. *scc

My husband was driving our 2000 yukon a week and a half ago, and while completely stopped at a stop sign not two miles from our home, the passenger side curtain airbag deployed. No one was in the passenger seat at the time, and thankfully no one was injured, however i am incredibly worried about the integrity of the vehicles safety. I have two children in car seats, and my infant son sits directly behind the passenger seat in a rear facing car seat. Not only would the incredibly loud 'gunshot' sound have possibly damaged his ears, but the smoky aftermath the car was filled with would have been terrible for both children's lungs.airbags are an incredibly important safety feature that is unparalleled when they operate correctly. Obviously there is faulty wiring or sensors in this modelsuv for the side seat airbag to go off not only when there was no one sitting in the passenger seat, but when the car was at a complete stop. My concern is with the rest of the vehicles airbag sensors, because i am not confident that they are not going to spontaneously go off while i am driving.wecontacted our local dealership with the problem immediately after the airbag deployed, however it was a sunday and we were told no one was available to help us. A vehicle inspection was scheduled for tuesday, the 21st, and my husband received a call from the inspector later that night to answer questions about the incident. We were told by the inspector that we would be receiving a call from gmc with the details and outcome of the inspection. It is now thursday the 23rd, and even after two phone calls i still have not heard back from anyone. I have now been without a vehicle for twelve days, and still cannot drive it because i am not comfortable transporting my children. I feel very strongly that gmc is responsible for remedying the problem and assuring me that this will not happen again under any premature circumstances.

The first time my engine stalled was back in 2001 on the middle of the 101 freeway in los angeles.i took it to the dealer and they stated it had to do with a chip.they replaced the chip and i haven't had a stalling problem until now.my car has stalled twice in the parking lot and once on the freeway.i am very upset that something so serious has not been fixed and was only a temporary fix.it seems to happen more when i have the heater or ac on and if i come to a stop.

While traveling at approximately 50 mph vehicle passed under power lines coming from a tower which causedradio/ guages, andengine to operate erratically and then stop functioning.this event has occurred twice when passing underneath these power lines.please provide any additional information/attachments.

Brought yukon into koons gmc in manassas, virginia in 2012 for two recalls which i was told were both done along with getting an estimate for $3300 for largely an intake manifold.i have called gm corp and been told many times over that past two years as more cars have been added to recall lists that there were no remaining recalls for my vehicle; now gm corporate says the wheel sensor recall (necessary to avoid low speed crashes) was actually never performed and gm corporate cannot explain why i have been told by both dealerships in the dc area and gm corporate over the past two years (exceeding 10 total calls) since that there were no remaining recalls left to perform on this yukon.presumably the headrest recall i brought it into koons in manassas, va as a second afterthought to the wheel sensor recall was the only thing they ended up doing other than giving me an estimate for over $3300 for work that has never needed to be done.my unanswered question to gm corporate was "i's this how your going to handle the ignition recalls?" additionally, gm claims to be unable to answer the question of whether my ignition switch is the same in design as any of those that have been recalled.do americans citizens not have the right to at least that much "proprietary"-protected information from gm?gm corporate's specialist claimed to object to my mentioning that i, too, might record the call.koons also never noticed that the previous owner had broken out the abs light because prior to the recall (which should have later tipped me off that they did not actually clean the wheel sensor and check the abs light since it was not on the $3300 estimate of necessary repairs), because nobody really knew then why the abs light would stay on.i believe this was a retaliatory act.i mentioned to koons snd gm corporate before service that i was disabled.

Battery positive terminal cracked and pulled out of battery causing acid to leak and could have caused a fire. Dealership said they have seen alot of this samething happening to batteries installed at factories. This hasn't happened just to yukon but also other gmc products

Air bag warning light iluminates, indicating a malfunction within system . Also, whenvehicle isbeing driven it loses power and stalls, cause unknown/passenger'sarm rest fell off.please give any further details.

First failure as noted in form, second failure of same componant on 08/03/01 @ 65 mph pulling 5000lb boat, 20503 miles. Third failure 08/17/01 same componant, sitting still in a parking lot. 20700 miles. This electronic failure is becoming very dangerous as the engine will stop running, causing vehicle to be hard to handle

My 2000 gmc has had a stalling issue from the day it was delivered.it has been in and out of the shop several times and the dealer has been unable to get it fixed.the dealer has told me they will replace a computer chip by sept. 30, and hopefully it will solve the problem..i will file a lemon law complaint to have the vehicle repurchased if it is not fixed by sept. 30th.the dealer admits that there are "several" of these yukons and pickups" that have this stalling problem, however, if they are aware of the problem, they are not making potential customers aware of the problem, perhaps that would hurt "their bottom line"!!also, these yukons are sold with firestone le tires, by reviewing the nhtsa website and some of the other customer complaints, i see there are several that had the tires blow, maybe there needs to be a check on these tires as well as the ones already recalled . My yukon dies at stop lights&stop signs for no reason . Both electric windowmotors have failed . The back widow exploded for no reason .the front suspenison feels lose.this car looks like a 12 year old kid put it together.

Vehicle was shipped with heads that would crack over time. The car has been leaking coolant for over a year and caused major engine failure. This is happening to many hundreds of thousand vehicles and should be a recall/compensation from gm.

My parking/emergency brake goes all the way to the floor and does not hold my vehicle on even the slightest grade.the dealer states that this is normal per gmc even though they have had numerous complaints.my engine has a knocking noise when i start it up in the morning.the dealer also stated that this is normal per gmc.my front passenger bucket seat back moves forward and back (wobbles).my rear end wheel bearing were replaced because of a loud hum.that was misdiagnosed twice byalfred mathews.my front end feels loose and squeaks when accelerating or braking.rear leather bucket seats rattle all the time when driving and the leather has ripped @ seams twice.alfred mathews replaced once and tried unsuccessfully to fix seat rattle.my newest complaint is a noise that comes from the rear of the vehicle when you shut the doors. ***dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****761455

Hydraulic lifters making noise.

Right front running light on my 2000 gmc yukon does not light.i see the same problem on many gmc and chevrolet trucks and suvs.the problem may appear in a high percentage of these vehicles.when i remove the housing for the light it usually holds water from rain or car washes.there is a hole in the housing which looks like it was poked with a screwdriver.a new bulb will only last for 100 miles or so, then it will short out.

Gmc yukon 2000 third fuel pump since purchased car new.gm refuse to recall mine. What can we do?

Fuel cut off to engine causing loss of power steering and braking at highway speed.

I was sitting in a parking lot and noticed gas fumes in the cab. I got out and looked under the suv and there was a puddle of gasoline dripping off the engine onto the ground. I took the car to the dealer (which couldn't fix it on a saturday so we had to stay in town two extra days until mondayand rent a car, but they were fast on monday) . I was informed by the dealer that this was not a covered repair because it was out of the original warranty period , but more concerning was that they could offer no explaination as to what had caused the leak.i am concerned because this could have happened while driving down the highway and caused a fire or explosion and injured or killed me or a member of my family. I have emailed gmc on their web site today.please look into this as it could be life threatning.

Engine was running and in park when it stalled. Towed to dealer, fuel pump intake assembly was replaced.

Both rear power windows failed. I have two yukons and this happened on both trucks. I also had to replace the fuel pump on one of the trucks and the second truck is acting up intermittently. I have other friends with the same problems on their trucks.

While driving at highway speeds vehicle lost power due to a faulty fuel pump.this was the third occurrence, which could have potentially caused a collision.

- inaccurate fuel level readings everytime the gas tank is full- anytime the truck is driven or in park it shows the empty and the low fuel light will come on and stays on until the vehicle is driven over a bump or something.- i looked on line and i noticed that there has been already a service recall issued but not for the yukon, its for the yukon xl however i contacted gmc and i explained that i am experiencing the same issue as the xl, there response was that there is no recall been issued for the yukon. With in mind that both of these vehicle lines use or share most of their parts.

My 2000 gmc yukon started leaking gas from the fuel pump into the electrical of the fuel pump. This could be serious and could cause the truck to explode. There needs to be a recall on this before death occurs.

When driving the vehicle at any speed, the vehicle would stall. This caused the driver to drift to the side of the road.the consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The mechanic informed the owner that the fuel pump had failed. *mr all the power steering and brakes were lost.this same part was previously replace at gm by the original owner. *sc

This is the second gas tank that has been replaced in this vehicle in three months. Both failures occurred at the neck of the tank, causing fuel to leak on the ground.

Tank assembly filler neck leaked fuel. As a result, a strong odor seeped through the ventilation system.

The parking brake on my 2000 yukon would not hold the vehicle when the parking brake was applied and the transmission was in neutral.this condition existed when i bought the vehicle new.when i took it back to have the problem fixed, i was told this vehicle has a new type parking brake.it was not designed to hold the vehicle with the transmission in neutral.it would only hold the vehicle with the transmission in park.after two years of the parking brake not holding i had it in for service and inquired one more time about the parking brake.the dealer checked it and told me the brake pads were worn out and need to be replaced.the dealer replaced the pads and made some other changes.now the parking brake does hold the vehicle with the transmission in neutral.i feel i have been deceived and taken advantage of since the dealer told me there was no problem until the warranty had expired.i would like to know if there has been other complaints of this type.jb

Parking brake issue.i occasionally noticed a scraping noise coming somewhere from the rear of the car. The servicing dealer pulled the rear break rotor off to inspect the parking brake. They found that the pad had worn all the way down to the metal and that the noise i was hearing was the remenants of the shoe, the liner, scraping against the drum.the dealer maintained that i must be driving with the parking brake engaged. I maintained that was not true, that there must be a design flaw with some of the brake components causing the unintended engaging of the parking brake shoe and the drum.i contacted gmc directly a spoke with a service representative who maintained there was nothing he could do to remedy the problem. I did not want to simply replace all the parking brake and drum as i felt there was a design problem and that my issue would be recurring. My main concern is that the brake shoe liner could eventually wear out the drum and possible cause a crash. However, i am not able to stop driving the car.subsequently, after researching the nhtsa site, i found gmc's service bulletin, nhtsa # 10000172 describing the problem and the recommended fix, which was replacing a part with a "newly designed part ( a tension spring)! the service bulletin did not state that the problem was caused by drivers driving their cars with their parking brake engaged. I believe that enough owners complained and gmc realized that it was a design problem. The bullentin covers serval gm models.again, the problem is not the noise caused by the scraping, but the potential accident caused by the brake shoe liner eventually wearing thru the parking brake drum possible causing the rotor to seperate. This could happen while driving at highway speeds. A loss of control or sudden stop probably would take place. I think that could be very serious and needs immediate attention.

Parking brake malfunction ( linitial lack ofadjustment)ref: service bulletin #010526001 nhtsa 3619514.concern with the fact a dealer charge is required to correct a defect which can lead to hazardous condition.

The design of my 2000 gmc yukon's emergency brake is faulty. The emergency brake failed on my car twice. In april of 2002, my car failed inspection due to the emergency brake not working. I had to pay $550 to replace the brake pads and replace a rear rotor that the emergency brake had damaged because the emergency brake pads had worn down and the base of the brake damaged the rotor. The car passed inspection but the brake did not seem to work well. So in 2004, inspection time rolls around and my emergency brake again fails. I was told gm had placed a recall to fix their faulty design but i am not sure if that is true or not. Either way, the design on this car is terrible. The only time the emergency brake is ever used is when the state inspection service tests it to see if it works.gmc should fix the brake system where the emergency brake should not be a $400 problem every two years.

Vehicle parking brake was inoperative.consumer pushed lever to engage parking brakes, but vehicle was still mobile.ts parking brake will not hold on the slightest grade especially with consumer's boat attached.failure of the parking brake could result in the vehicle and boat to submerge in the water.

Parking brake on my 2000 gmc yukon has never worked.vehicle will roll downhill if parking brake pedal pushed to the floor. Dealer claims the brake is working properly as designed, taken to dealer at least 3 times over the past 3 years for this complaint, always with the same explanation.last time i had this checked recently i was told the parking brake shoes needed replacement, that i had been driving with the parking brake on (untrue).i had brakes examined at a non gmc shop and was told the brakes were overly worn on one side due to improper adjustment.i have never had a functioning parking brake in this vehicle.the dealer gave me misinformation on at least 3 occasions, now refusing to repair that the warranty has expired. This is a serious safety issue which should be examined by nsta.thank you.

Emergency park brake failure.

Consumer appliedemergency brakeand pedal went to the ground, resulting inemergency brakemalfunctioning.

The parking brake system is not designedto hold more than the weight of the vehicle on more than an eleven percent grade.the yukon xl is advertised by gmc to be a vehicle capbable of towinga 7800 lb trailer. With a boat traileror horse trailer you can not safely park on anything but level ground without the weight of the vehicle and trailerbeing held by the tranmission park. This not a safely designed system.

When accelerating from a stop the transmission reacts as if in neutral.after a few seconds, it drops into gear.since no "codes" show up when the car is taken in for repair the dealer will not acknowledge there's a problem.this is a severe safety hazard that could result in an accident if the driver is attempting to cross a roadway, mover over railroad tracks, etc.the vehicle doesn't move when the accelerator is applied.dt

Original transmission was slipping and truck going into a "neutral" while on highway, took to dealer and they kept it 11 days had to replace entire transmission.now, aprx 6 weeks later truck is again not shifting right, put in reverse from parked position, press accelerator and the truck slams into gear.when in drive from parked position accelerate and it revs and revs and finally slams into drive then intermittently while driving goes in & out of gear.pretty disgusted for a xmas gift at $45,000.00 never expected this.

Automatic transmission lunges forward and vibrates when shifting from first to second gear. Dealership has examined vehicle to determine the cause ofproblem.

Transmission problem:at 40 mph going downhill unknowingly went into neutral and accelerating to maintain speed went over 3000 rpm. Normally at that speed 1400 rpm. Transmission bolt missing. Found by owner after dealer performed oil change.no paint scratched where bolt would have been if there was a bold there from manufacturer.dealer replaced bolt at no charge. Hot front brake left side & tire feels hot - noticed by smell from left side - right side front no heat or smell. Found after traveling 60 mph and wheel & tire hot to touch.dealer examined all brakes, claimed all normal, even brake pad wear on all brakes and found no abnormal conditions, but no problem since they dealer looked at this. (tiresize: 265/16)( dot number: tire size: 265/16 )

My 2000 yukon has had problems with the engine stalling during braking and turns since i bought it in 2001 with 10,000 miles on it.i took it in to the dealership several times while still under warranty and i was given the run around. The problem is now severe and has almost caused me to crash more times than you and i have fingers and toes.i cannot trade this vehicle in because of this problem nor can i find a mechanic or dealership (ha ha ) that can find out where the problem lies.i have been told that the intake motor or the intake gasket need to be replaced but diagnostics cannotback these theories up.today i nearly hit a telephone pole because the vehicle died and lost power steering while i was making a turn.

Dealer repaired under warranty.said wrong spacer put in at manufacture process.optional 4.10 rear.

Purchased vehicle used from mei auto brokers 407834 6244 on 11/06/01took vehicle to courtesy gmc407 767 2070 on 11/08/01 spoke with dave junkins ext 1236 . Dave told me that the driveshaft was unbalanced and that caused the shaking at speeds greater than 45 mph. He also stated that it was a manufacturing error and that it was like that(unbalanced w/ shaking )since manufactured i am deeply concerned that this driveshaft shaking and vibrating since new has caused damage to either the transmission or differential and subsequent failure is imminent. To this date 11/20/01 i am still awaiting word from dave at courtesy on when a new part will arrive and repairs will be preformed.

Front seat belts lock in position to any type of movement. Rear back seat that lays down pushed againstfront, causingseat belts tolock.seat belts were replaced once before for the same exact thing. *et

Passenger side seat belt fails to inertia release: explanation follows: when ataching seat belt no futher movement is allowed due to the fact that the inertia release malfunctions locking the passenger in one position any further movement rstrains the passenger into locked position requireng to relaeqse the belt entirely to move about the compartment.asafty issue if releasing to perform some duty a the same timeand accident occurs can be serious.ositionkmode requireing the entire release of the belt to move about in thentther rther movement will lock the passengerrse functionof the locking action of the beltt locks inplace thereby to move about in the vehicle requirs that disengage the belt.

Passenger and both rear seat power windows quite working at the same time. This could possibly be a danger in case of an accident. I have found numerous complaints of this problem on 2000 yukons. Throttle pedal sticks and you have to use excessive pressure to unstick it. This causes you to move forward or backward at a high rate of speed.this is an accident waiting to happen as you start off or are in a busy parking lot. Could cause injury to pedesterian or small child. I have also seen numerous complaints of thisproblem filed on 2000 yukons.passenger seat belt tightens as you ride to the point of causing pain, you must disengage seat belt and rengage to correct problem.this is also is a danger as you could be unbelted when an accident happens.i also have seen numerous complaints on this problem.there have been service bullentins on these problems, but gm refuses to pay the repair cost on our vehicle.they have been aware of these problems since these vehicles were in warranty. I purchased a 1996 yukon new and had it until trading for this 2000 yukon, i never had a complaint. Their quality assurance has sure gone down hill since 1996.

Front passenger seat belt continually retracts while the vehicle is in motion pinning the passenger to the seat.to releave pressure passenger must unbuckle and reposition buckle.to compensate dealer installed an extension but still didn't correct problem and created a new one for passengers under 200lb.with extension buckle is in the middle of occupants abdomin along with the shoulder belt.leaving only the lap belt to restrain passenger.

Both rear power windows failed in up position.drivers seatbelt would lock in retracted position if removed while driving and could not be pulled back out unless the vehicle was stopped and turned off.

The seat directly behind driver's seat will not lock when a child's restraint seat is used and the belt is pulled tight to get slack out to hold child's seat secure.*ml

Safty issue may result if person unlatches at a time when an accident occurs.attempted on similar vehicle ( passengaer side) with same results (malfunction.)dealer has all but given up.i cannot accept something must be done to right the problem thank you r. The second row seating in my suv is supposed to have the option to lay down or sit up like normal. When i tried to lift the seat of the large section to lay the seat flat.

The front seats rock unpredictably.they rock both forward and reward under acceleration and braking as well as rough terrain.this is irritating as well as a safety concern as it is difficult to brake/accelerate consistently with the movement in the seat.the dealer has been contacted on numerous occasions as well as gm canada and i have had the drivers and passengers seat replaced.there is still some movement in the seats particularly the passenger seat.the dealer now claims the movement that is still remaining is a normal condition.

The second row seating in my suv is supposed to have the option to lay down or sit up like normal.when itried to lift the seat of the large section to lay the seat flat, the cable broke as if it had been ready to snap for quite some time.the smaller side hasn't snapped yet but i am sure it is only a matter of time.

Passenger's seatmoves back and forth wheneverbrakes are applied or when accelerator pedal is applied. Vehicle been in dealer shop on several occasions, and informed consumer problem cannot be repaired.seeking help from nhtsa in this matter.

Front drivers seat rocks very distracting and feels like it could fail under the pressure of an accident. Dealer contacted as was manufacturer. They stated that they are all like that and a repair is not possible.

The seat track for the front seats are sharp as knives.i larcerated my finger when vacuumingcarpet.there should be a cap or 'end' device on the end of the track to prevent this.

Driver's seatback moves unexpectedly, which may causea loss of vehicle control.dealer cannot determine the causeof the problem. *ml

Front passenger bucket seat back having excessive forward and backward movement while owner in the seat.

Driver's seatback rocks back and fourth. Owner is worried the seatback may collaspe while driving. The problem was reported todealership. The problem has not been corrected. Please provide any further information.

This was a rear-end collision.we were standing still when hit.driver's seat collapsed upon impact.

Brake line from abs module to rear brakes failed due to corrosion.

I was driving around town when the brakes felt a little soft.the next morning there was a puddle of brake fluid under the vehicle.i put in a half a bottle of brake fluid into the reservoir.i drove to the house and parked it. Several minutes after parking there was the beginning of a puddle of brake fluid.i made several other stops and at each stop brake fluid was beginning to leak when vehicle was turned off.took vehicle to shop and was told that the brake lines all needed to be replaced.

Driving on south on route 95 through connecticut at approximately 65 mph on 17aug12.had to stop suddenly due to traffic incident ahead.applied brakes but line burst and peddle went to floor.car would not stop but fortunately was able to move into breakdown lane to allow longer stopping distance.narrowly avoided rear ending car in front of me at high speed.brought vehicle to dealer for repair.they found the left rear brake line had ruptured due to rust.dealer replaced 40" of brake line.a similar event occurred during may of 2013 on route 3 in massachusetts.a collision was narrowly avoided.

Coming to a stop and brake pedal went to floor....my vehicle then rolled into intersection causing an accident when the other vehicle collided with the front of my vehicle. Further investigation found brake line burst. To remedy situation i replaced all brake lines.

The contact owns a 2000 gmc yukon. The contact experienced failures related to nhtsa campaign number: 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The contact stated that while driving 5-10 mph while inititating a turn, the brakes failed to respond. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 149,000.

The contact owns a 2000 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30-40 mph, the brakes failed to engage when depressed. The brake pedal abnormally traveled to the floorboard and became stuck in position. The contact inspected the vehicle and discovered that the brake line was corroded, causing brake fluid to leak from the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 130,000.

When slowing down at an intersection stop light, at the speed of under 10 mph, the abs brakes suddenly kicked in and pulsated, not allowing the truck to stop.this almost resulted in a rear end collision with a stopped vehicle in front of me.after pulling into a parking lot the same issue happened again, causing me to panic and stump on the brakes hard before running into the parking blocks in front of a business.after taking the vehicle to the mechanics they could not diagnose a problem.even though there was no abs warning light or error code, we elected to replace both abs speed sensors as a precaution.the problem still existed. I decided to have both front and rear brakes including rotors replaced as a precaution.the problem still accures with every slower speed attemp to stop. I am very reluctant to drive the vehicle and when i due, i have to begin my braking well in advance and at a increased distance from where i would like to stop.

The contact owns a 2000 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the brakes failed to engage when depressed and the brake pedal abnormally traveled to the floor board. The contact mentioned that the abs system activated independently . The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was discovered that the brake line was corroded. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 157,500. I was just backing up to hitch a trailer when the brake pedal went to the floor, thankfuly it happened before i hooked the trailer as i would certainly have had an accident towing a trailer with no brakes!i looked under the vehicle and saw it was leaking brake fluid toward the driver side rear door, brake line had burst.

The abs system on my car failed because of the actual computer control unit. It failed while driving causing the full system to fail. The car is a 2000 gmc yukon. The fuse controlling the abs system had to be removed as the pumps controlling the system would not turn off since the control unit failed. I was informed that this part would cost $1,000.00 to replace. A completely ridiculous price as i have since found out these parts are obviously faulty and fail regularly while in use.*la

The contact owns a 2000 gmc yukon.when the contact depresses the brake pedal at low speeds, he can feel the abs pulsating.as a result, the vehicle is more difficult to stop.also, the contact hears a humming sound whenever the failure occurs.the contact did not notice any differences beforehand and the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer.the current mileage was 174,000 and failure mileage was 172,000.

June 2010 as i was pulling my 2000 gmc yukon into a parking space the anti-lock brakes locked up and i crashed into the vehicle facing me. Limited damage was done to the other vehicle. There was nothing i could do to stop my vehicle from hitting the other car. There had been no signs of anything being wrong with my brakes before the incident. Since then my vehicle has continued to lock up at random.i called the local dealership and they said there was no recall.after searching the internet, i found that there was a recall in 2005 in some other states with the exact same problem.of course the state i live in was not included in the recall and once a recall has been issued, it will not be issued again in other states.therefore, i am faced with the expenses of fixing a problem the gmac knows exist at my expense!!!!!i'm sure it will not be cheap. Thank you gmac!!!

Ref present recall on 1999-2002 chevy & gmc silverado, yukon light trucks. I notice that rust is the factor in the anti-lock sensor recall. I would like to further add that rust is also responsible for breakdown in entire braking system. I have a 2000 yukon with 26000 miles that has extreme rust decay to rear axle backing plates and front rotors.the local dealer when questioned admitted its due to rust belt issues. I did notice that gm has admitted to having rust belt issues with its braking system. Why are you not requiring them to mitigate the entire system which is effected? are they not part & parcel of the braking system? why should the consumer be saddled with the expensive repair of replacing theses components which if they have not failed seriously impair the braking and handling of the vehicles in question.my mechanic advises that he has had many of the same vehicles come in for repairs with identical rust disintegration. The area of vehicle sale & use in this country should not be used as an excuse by the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2000 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the abs system activated independently while driving 5 mph, causing an increase in stopping distance and time. The contact had the vehicle serviced under nhtsa campaign i.d. Number: 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock) but the repair did not remedy the issue.the contact had thewheel speed sensor twice but it also did not correct the issue. The failure mileage was 82,000.

My concern is the parking/emergency brake.i have taken the vehicle in at least 4 times since it was new with complaints the emergency brake doesn't work. "adjustments" helped only temporarily.i am now informed the emergency brakes are worn out and need to be replaced, of course at my expense.i was also told i was responsible for the problem, as i had to be driving with the emergency brake on.this is not true.i looked at the center for auto safety for this problem and found other owners of gmc yukons have had the same problem.very few owners check the emergency brake routinely, in my opinion, and it is likely the problem may be a common one, and thus a safety issue.basically for the 3 years i've owned my vehicle, i have had inadequate or non-functioning emergency brakes, which i feel has jeopardized my safety. My vehicle has 46000 miles, i have had the brakes repaired by a non-gm facility, with good results.i was also told there was evidence the brakes were seriously out of adjustment, and had wear patterns which would indicate a cause other than my driving with the brake on.i plan to meet with the service manager for my dealer and discuss this matter further.my expense for repair was approx $250, done about 2 weeks ago after the dealer had inspected the brakes and declined to repair.i felt i had been given misleading information as to the cause of the problem.early in the history of this problem, i was told the brakes were working as they were supposed to.naively i accepted thisexplanation, until my last visit with the dealer.i suggest a survey of 1000 owners be done, with self check of emergency brake function, to determine if this problem is a common one.thank you.please let me know if i can be of any further assistance. Jerry r. Crews, m.d.

My gmc yukon experienced total brake failure.my wife was driving with our 3 month old son and luckily she was able to stop off of the side of the road in a field.when i arrived, i found a puddle of fluid under the driver side seat from badly corroded steel brake lines.after only a few minutes of online researching, i have found thousands of similar stories; some of which ended much worse. Clearly this is a quality and safety issue.

After no warning (lights, chimes or alarms), applied brakes and pedal went to the floor.no brakes.luckily it was very early and nobody was on the road when i blew through a stop sign intersection.local dealer says aluminum brake lines were severely corroded and had ruptured.nearly $2000 to replace aluminum brake lines with steel.everyone knows when you place different metals in contact where they can get wet, you will get electro-chemical corrosion of the weaker metal, in this case, aluminum.that's why boats use aluminum and zinc as a sacrificial metal in marine environments - to protect the engine from corrosion.this is surely an engineering flaw.on my yukon, the aluminum brake lines are attached to the steel frame underneath the vehicle where they are sure to get wet anytime it rains, thus guaranteeing the weaker aluminum metal will corrode.i have a 45-year-old mustang with original brake lines (steel) and no corrosion.10 years is absolutely unacceptable for brake lines to be corroded to the point of catastrophic brake failure through normal use and normal weather. I live in maryland, not alaska.our weather is average.there should be a recall and i should be reimbursed.

While drivingwould step onbrake pedal and vehicle would not stop on time, causing it to pass through intersections.this hashappened seven times.dealer could notfixthe problem.

Abs activated at low speed in my driveway.

About 6 months ago my abs system started to engage on dry pavement. While applying the brake the abs would engage and the pedal would go to the floor, increasing braking distance. In one instance my wife was parking and the abs engaged and the yukon ran into the concrete parking block because it wouldn't stop. The abs usually engages in the last 5 to 20 foot of braking and at slow speeds. This problem is intermediate. I have taken it to a dealer and private shops and no one can find the problem.

While driving down a hill today ( i was using the gears so the brakes were not overheated)...the brakes completely failed mometarily when i reached the bottom of the hill - i almost hit the car in front of me.when i tried the brakes again immediately thereafter (after going through the intersection) and they were perfectly fine.

Dt: the contact states there is a nhtsa recall campaign 05v379000 concerning the anti lock brakes. The consumer experienced the same problemsas indicated in the recall, but it is not included in the recall due to vin. The repairs have not been made. The consumer disabled the abs.updated 01/11/06.

Slowing to a stop on slight downhill grade, the brakes failed forappx 3-4 seconds. The brake pedal raised up towards me and couldn't stop the vehicle. This has happened at least 20 times(always on dry roads).it also occurs at slowing down speeds, if road is ever so slightly rough. * not overly bumpy !!

The contact owns a 2000 gmc yukon. He statedthat his vehicle was repaired according to recall# 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic: anti lock) at 60,000 miles. At 105,000 miles he began experiencing unwanted anti lock brake system (abs) activation.since the vehicle was previously repaired, he was ineligible for a free remedy. The failure continued to occur after the vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 105,000. The current mileage was 114,000.

Brake pedal gets very hard.consumer is unable to stop vehicle at times.

While driving the vehicle at 25 mph the anti lock brakes would not lock. The consumer stated that the brakes caused extended stopping distance. The consumer has made contact with the dealer.

Owner applied the brakes andbrake pedal went to the floor.vehicle was not stopping upon brake application.this causedvehicle to continue forward into intersection.driver made an emergency right turn which then resulted in the vehicle sliding and then flipping over.please describe details.

Dt*: the contact stated there is an nhtsa recall, 05v379000 concerning the abs, however the recall did not correct the problem.the vehicle is having the same problems again.prior to the manufacturer's recall, the vehicle was repaired twice regarding this brake problems.the vehicle had difficulties stopping at low speeds.the first time the master cylinder was replaced.the second time the front brakes were replaced.the last time the recall work was performed the front and rear brakes were replaced.the dealer has agreed to inspect the vehicle again.

When applyingbrakes rear brake will lock up before the front brake, causing extended stopping distance. Lock up of rear brake could cause loss of control on wet or icy pavement.tires leave black marks on pavement.brake proportioning system not working correctly.

While traveling onhighway traffic began to slow down.consumer stated that a hard spot came into the brake, and brakes were locked, consumer could not stop, andrear ended another vehicle which caused a chain reaction.

Slowing to a stop on slight downhill grade, the brakes failed forappx 3-4 seconds. The brake pedal raised up towards me and couldn't stop the vehicle. Dt*:the contact stated while driving at 10 mph, the abs engaged.as a result, the stopping distance was increased.there is a nhtsa recall, # 05v379000, regarding the abs.the vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the vin.the dealer was contacted; however no repairs were made. Whenapplying pressure to brake pedalitwill go directly to the floor during hard braking which could cause a crash due to failure of the brake system to engage.also, during light braking, brakes engage at first. Then , brake pedal will go tofloor.dealership has informedconsumer that this activity was considered to be normal operation of this model of vehicle, and therewas no need for correction.please provide any additional information/attachments.

Whenapplying brakesvehicle has a winding noise.also, whenbrakingvehicle will jerk. Anddealership is aware of problem.

When you go to apply the brakes, with a constant pressure on the brake pedal, you receive no tactile feedback via increased resistance in the brake petal that the brakes are being engaged. You can press the brake petal all the way down and still not get a positive feeling that the brakes are being applied. The dealer refuses to do quantatative measurements on the brake system to see if it is within manufacturer specs. The manufacturer wants to wait over 7 days before another dealer can see the vehicle and conduct tests.

At slow braking speeds {at 5 mph} the abs brakes go off every time you stop. When coasting through a parking lot at 5 mph, when the brakes go off they lock up and they do not let go. When they lock up, and your cannot stop or control the braking, you run into the cars parked in front of me. My wife will not drive this vehichle any more because she cannot control the stopping. I removed the fuses that control the abs braking so that i can control my braking.

While braking lightly at 30 mph vehicle brakes locked up, causing vehicle to fish-tail and become uncontrollable.brakes did not return to normal, they continued to lock the wheels and the vehicle crashed into a pole flipped over, and roll approcimately 3 times.

Dt*:the contact stated the abs system failed to stop the vehicle.while approaching a stop driving 5 mph the brakes failed and rear ended another vehicle.seat belts were in use by all 3 occupants in the vehicle.however injuries were sustained to the driver.the air bags did not deploy.the police were on scene and a report was filed.prior to the accident the abs light on the instrument panel was illuminated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer; however the dealer was unable to make repairs.there is a nhtsa recall, # 05v37900, regarding the service brakes, antilock.the vin was not included in the recall.

Abs pump continues to run even with ignition switch off.had to remove fuse to abs system to stop the pump.now, cannot determine if brake system has a failure because the brake indicator stays lit on the instrument panel while the abs fuse is removed.brake system and abs system should be separate entities so that a failure of the abs system does not necessarily indicate a brake system failure.

When brakes were applied to stopvehicle they didn't hold, brake pedal went to the floor. Causing an accident.contacted dealer.

While driving and when using the brakes, they will work intermittently, the brake pedal will go to the floor, causing vehicle to have an extended stopping distance. I have a 2000 gmc yukon (non-xl).i was turning around in a parking lot and heard a crunch in the front engine compartment of the vehicle.when i went to straighten out and continued onto the street, the power steering was gone.i had to strong arm it home.i did some research on recalls and found that the 2000 gmc yukon xl had in fact been recalled for the exact symptoms that my vehicle had (non xl).i called gmc the next day and explained the situation.i asked them if the same recalled power steering parts are used for the standard and the xl yukon.the gmc representative would not say yes or no, just not necessarily is all he would say.i told them regardless that they should do a recall on the standard yukon due to the fact that ours did the same exact thing as the yukon xl has been recalled for and that this was a life or death type failure in the right circumstances (ie; driving on the road when the failure occurred).gmc requested that i take my yukon to the dealer and find out exactly what had broke.i drove it to the dealer the next day (more sore arms) and left it for them to determine the damage that had been done.the dealer got back to me and told me that the power steering pump, shaft, actuator, as well as the mounting bracket had failed.the dealer had talked to the local gmc representative and they decided that they would help with the cost of the repair.they however told us that they were not buying the part or the labor but they would offer $200 toward the cost of the repair and we would have to come up with the balance $350 for a total of $550 to repair.i am also curious if gmc will be replacing my broken parts with the exact same parts that are destined to break again in the future.i would expect upgraded parts, but maybe they just want our business again a year or two when it breaks again, that is, if we live through it next time.

While driving, rear cargo door opens. Dealership stated gap at the top of the doors was not causing the problem; gap was just an adjustment.dealership unable to duplicate problem.once problem duplicated, parts ordered incorrectly.auto out of state for 4 months.returned in april 2001 and latch replaced.at this time the doors rattled/chattered.because of other issues and dealership failure to address problems, gmc co rep contacted and all items were completed except the issue rattle/chatter.co rep stated new weather stripping.6 months of adjusting, weather stripping and waiting on parts the gap is still apparent and causing the rattle chatter. 11/30/2001 dealership said there was nothing else they could do. Only way to stop the rattle/chatter is to pull in on the passenger cargo door and push out on the driver cargo door.independent explained that until you know whether the problem is in the doors, hinges or body of the vehicle, you will not be able to adjust the doors to stop rattling/chattering.because of time restraints and no response from dealership, proposal of either trading me out to a new vehicle (paying $8,150.07 difference) or buying back car for $28,500.no response from dealership.01/03/2002 gmc customer service stated co rep said no buy back of vehicle and the only thing the dealership would do is to continue adjusting the doors to latch tighter.i questioned why that would be done and no answer given.this car has a marketability issue.no one will want to drive a vehicle that does nothing but rattle/chatter down the road.

My wifes vehicle left the road where she tried to correct and vehicle rolled over, killing her as she was by herself. None of the airbags deployed, and the vehicle was a complete disaster.

Two other people have told me their wheel bearings have failed. Also with low mileage. These are shielded bearings that do not require lubrication.bearing on my truck was half gone when they replaced it. It was mis diagnosed by j.p. Thibodeaux gmc in new iberia, la. And correctly diagnosed by courtesy gmc of lafayette, la. I had made two trips to j.p. Thibodeaux complaining about the noise and wheel locking up. I was told it was a wheel sensor, causing the problem. Told to drivetruck home which was approximately 20 miles each way at 70 mph. This was very unsafe and dangerous knowing what i know now. These bearings are defective and need to be replaced by a quality bearing.

Tire blew out @35mph-vehicle purchased 7/6/00.gm says not going to replace tires.wildnerness le tires aren't in the recall.want all firestone tires off my vehicle!!! i do not feel safe driving on any firestone tire. (dot number: 1155mstiresize: p265/70r16)

Complete tread peeled off. Sent to firestone and they said that they were not responsible because the tire was operated with "insufficient air pressure"!!!v672wl10200 should also be recalled!!! (note: the d.o.t. Field cut off last number???) mr

At .155" depth of tread and even wear, tire developed 30 to 40 deep radial cracks, 1" to 2" long, between the tire outside edge tread blocks and proceeding toward the sidewall.the tire has always been properly inflated to 36 - 50 psi (80 psi cold max) and was imeadiately removed from the vehicle apon discovery of defect.there is no visible external damage to the tire and it never been off the rim.the tire still holds air. Returning from a trip to al after having our yukon xl for approx. 2 weeks, we had a blowout at 4am. We heard a clunk and about 15 minutes later, the blowout occurred. The tread totally separated. We were not reimbursed for the tire and had to buy another one. Now that we know firestone has a problem with these tires, we would like to be able to turn these tires in to firestone and get a complete refund and then go buy another brand of tires. Firestone has said they will inspect the tires for free and if they see any problem with any tire, they would replace that tire with another firestone tire. I don't want to keep the firestone tires. Can you help?( dot number: tire size: p265/70r16 )

Consumer states he took vehicle into dealership for an inspection of the recalled firestone wilderness le (p265/70r16) tires, consumer was advised by dealer that the spare tire was one of the recalled tires and all 5 tires would be replaced, consumer made an appointment to come back to have tires replaced, however when the dealership took vehicle to a firestone dealer, they stated that only one tire needed to be replaced.

While driving, consumer felt vibration and in rearview mirror could see tread flapping, the left rear firestone wilderness le tire had experienced tread separation, tire size p265/70r16, dot # v672wl11800.

The tire tread came apart and caused us to have a blowout on the freeway.we paid to have the tire replaced at a firestone dealer because the gm dealer told us it was a defective tire.the firestone dealer confirmed that there was no indication that we had run over any road hazards to cause the tire to come apart.we are trying to get gm to replace the tires with another brand since this is a brand new car.in light of recent news reports about these firestone tires, we are not comfortable driving with our family on these tires.we feel fortunate that we were able to get to the side of the road without having an accident and we don't want it to happen again.( dot number: tire size: p265\70ri6 )

Firestone wilderness le tires, p265/70r16, were replaced due to recall, however tires were replaced with other firestone tires that caused trembling at speeds between 45 and 55 mph, dealer stated tires were fine, consumer feels they should have been given the opportunity to choose the brand of replacement tires and is requesting reimbursement.

Tire tread separated. Vehicle lostcontrol.there were no injuries.

2000 gmc yukon stalls when pulling out into traffic from a stationary position.this has happened numerous times in past 17 years.gm dealer nor independent mechanic could repair nor what is causing problem.

No summary listed for above vehicle. (tiresize: p265/70r16)( dot number:tire size: p265/70r16 )

While driving at any speed the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated without any warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer replaced the accelerator and the cruise cables. Within 10 months after the repair was made the problem recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer informed the consumer that the throttle body needed to be replaced.

The accelerator pedalsticks.

Accelerator pedal sticks intermittently. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that problem was not covered under a recall and any repairs would be at consumer's cost. Feel free to provide any further information.

The gas pedal sticks all the time as does the brake pedal.this has happened numerous times.

Horrible odor emitted thru ventilation system. Don't know if associated but my family has been ill with alot of respiratory problems, walking pneumonia (2out of 4) in same week , and my 5yr old has been plagued by violent vomiting.i took yukon to martin gmc said odor was probably caused by either mold/fungus in the evaporator & coils.the smell is very strong and nauseating .there have been several technical service bulletins thru gmc on this problem.i am worried about my families health since i have chronic asthma and my children have allergies.the dealer is going to put a coating of chemicals on the evaporator coils that will (kill?)mold and funus, then they will install an electonic evaporator dryer.i hope this is going to rectify the situation and not be just a temporary fix because mold is very hard to erradicate if you do not get to the source of the problem.i am upset that a new car can have this problem and i've read on the internet that this is not an isolated case. Do you know of any health risks due to this?the smell is awful and strong even with the a/c off.please let me know of any other possible remedies to this problem.you can email me @ [email protected] .

My yukon dies at stop lights&stop signs for no reason . Both electric windowmotors have failed . The back widow exploded for no reason .the front suspenison feels lose.this car looks like a 12 year old kid put it together.

Within a 4 month time i have lost my driver-side window, front-passenger, and rear driver-side window all to failed window regulator or motors. Moreover, more recently i have had the random window blow-out in my cargo area. Not to mention the throttle sticking. This is unreal, what a nightmare, cute to drive horrible to own!

Both rear power windows failed in up position.drivers seatbelt would lock in retracted position if removed while driving and could not be pulled back out unless the vehicle was stopped and turned off.

Both rear power windows failed within a day of each other. The windows were stuck in the closed position.

Both rear power windows appear to have shorted out.they are stuck in the up position.

30 to 40 mph cross wind.window failed showering driver with glass.

Both rear power windows failed. I have two yukons and this happened on both trucks. I also had to replace the fuel pump on one of the trucks and the second truck is acting up intermittently. I have other friends with the same problems on their trucks.

Both rear power windows inoperative.

Both rear power windows failed in the up position within a week of each other.n

Three window in my yukon have now failed.the first was three years ago when the vehicle was only about three years old. Two more have now failed.i have been told this is common to yukon's.

Power window motor failed, driver side rear window is inoperable, stuck in up position, this seems to be a documented problem with yukons

Driver's side view mirror vibrates and pops at highway speeds, blurring any images. Dealer has tightened mirror once, and replaced twice, and problem has worsened.dealer refuses to continue to try to correct problem.

The rear windows will not go up or down and sometimes the passenger window will not wrork either. I have also had a grinding or rubbing oise from the right rear tire area that no one can find it only does it occasionally. I can live with that but the windows not working is a real pain..i have talked with 3 other friends in frederick who have purchased new suburbans and they are having the same problems..what is general motors going to do about it..

Vehicle was sitting on its own when glass exploded.the weather was nice around 80 degrees even if not this shouldn't have happened.possible defect; poor quality or fitting. And so on...

While driving home in the right lane on a two-highway, the driver's window spontaneously shattered.i was driving through a swamp-no people or construction sites around, nor was there a car next to me.as the window lost strength from shattering it bowed in and i pulled over to knock out the rest of the glass. With the remaining glass around the car, i sustained cuts to my left hand and a piece flew into my eye and tore a contact.my young daugter sustained scratches on her scalp due to glass in her hair.when we arrived at the dealer, he stated that he had heard the rear windows blowing out but not the side ones!all we wanted to was relinguish the lease, but gmc refused.we had to pay out- i feel this should be investigated as it could have resulted in fatalities.thank you.
