Owner applied brakes and the vehicle kept going and hit another vehicle.upon impact, neither driver's side nor passenger's side airbags deployed.dealer has seen vehicle.
Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision at approximately 45 mph with another vehicle. Upon impact, both air bags failed to deploy. Dealer notified.
We contacted gmc customer service (victor johnson)and requested an investigation. Gmc has now told us that since no one was fatally injured there will be no investigation. How can they do this? my wife has been injured - probably permanently- and we want to know why they did not deploy - as this was a direct frontal impact. I believe that the manufacturer has an obligation to us and is merely playing a game at this point. Is it in our best interest to hire an attorney on the matter or what should we do?
Consumer involved in an accident, rearended another vehicle.vehicle traveling at approximately 50 mph, and air bags did not deploy.please fill in any additional information.
Vehicle was cut off by another vehicle. Had to apply brakes (abs) quickly, which failed to work. Vehicle then dove into concrete cover. Upon impact, the dual air bags failed to deploy. The seat belt jerked hard on driver, causing bruises. Gmc file number 99-153-17801.
Rear passenger seatbelt which bolts to floor frame came off, would not protect an occupant in event of a crash.alsocenter rear seat adjuster broke in pieces which did not hold the css in place which in event of a crash.css would not be properly installed.please provide further information.
While driving about any speedvehicle will stall and lose electrical power and power steering.had taken vehicle to a technician. Technician told consumer that cause may had been with fuel injector sticking, and had happened four times, just like safety bulletin g99066b, may 2000.
My security light come on andmy car start for 3- 5 sec and die out..i been reading other people have the same problem...we need help... We don't have 500-600 hundreddollar to spend for a security light..
My yukon would not start i waited 5 minutes and then it started. The next time it would not start at all i waited over night it still would not start.i have talked to alot of people and they are having the same problem.
Same thing as already listed. My radio, wipers and windows stopped working. The radio will randomly come on but if you try to use the wipers or roll down a window it shuts all 3 down. Found through research this is a common issue and requires the body control module to be replaced.
Ongoing problem withvehicle not starting due to an electrical short. Vehicle been in / out of dealer shop on three occasions, and problem still occurring. *ml
Possible electrical failure causing security light to come on which then causes the engine to stall and not start, consumer has taken the vehicle to dealer several times, but the problem still occurs.
All electrical system power and steeringwas lost while driving. Please provide further details.
The contact owns a 1999 gmc yukon.on april 20, 2009, the vehicle would not accelerate past 20 mph.there had been no prior failures with the transmission since purchasing the vehicle used in january of 2009.in addition, there were alignment issues that caused the tires to explode, tie rod failure, brake failure, and the fuel gauge displays the incorrect amount of fuel in the vehicle.the failure mileage was 100,000.updated 5/27/09 the upper and lower ball joints, lower ball joints, idler arm, steering gear, rack and pinion were all replaced. Updated 06/02/09.
The metal hydraulic brake line running from the master cylinder to the passenger side front disc brake assembly ruptured, causingthe vehicle to lose its braking power while the vehicle was being driven. This line crosses the front of the vehicle and then runs on top of the frame just under where the battery is located. After inspecting and finding the hole it was very apparent that battery acid/corrosion had dripped onto the line,, causing it to be eaten away. The battery is orginal equipment and maintanance free.

Gm has an anti-theft device called a passlock.the systems seems to be faulty on a very large number of their vehicles.it makes the auto not start and maybe even sometimes die while running.i'm quite concerned of the possibility of the engine failing while driving down the road.they told me it would cost $400 - $500 to fix it.
My vehicle will not start periodically while it is raining or the humidity is very high.during this time, the security light will blink and you must wait a minimum of 10 minutes before it will start again.there has been one case when the car completely stopped during driving and lost all power (steering, brakes, etc).the dealer could not find out why this was occurring.the key cylinder was replaced based on a "passlock" error code in the ecu.this has not resolved the problem.i have visited many websites and found this to be a pretty common problem with chevrolet and gmc suvs and across many years of production.

As i was driving through a snow furry i the snow packed up on the high-beam head lamps that were not in use in the heavy part of the snow storm.these lamp's collected the wet snow and it packed over the lamp so much so when they were activated "no light' of which, would be of use, on wet roads at highway speeds came on the high-beam wasof no use at all !!!the problem; when you activate thehigh-beam the headlamp program is for the "l0w-beam' to go out **** this leaves you the driver with-out any head-lights at all and in this case i mean no light at all . I was traveling at 70 on a 2 lane road in nevada, in a slow lefthand curve when this happened. Thankfully i now the road very will and i drive class a trucks for a living for the passed 18 years so " i' didn't freeze-up when this happened. Sometime soon if not corrected (gmc can do a simple wire re-configureation and solve this problem tomarrow ) somone is going to be killed or injured. I have 1.75 "million miles' of safe driving under my belt and this is the first time i have ever felt so strong on a problem that i have written anyone. I wrote gmc and the letter i got back does not make me feel they will address this problem at all. Per veh this is such a low cost correction. But if left un-corrected the cost can be so high, not just in money but in lives. Thank you frank b. Rustad cc abc, nbc, cbs, l. A. Times, salt lake tribuine, san francisco-cronicle, .
Vehicle was only getting 10 miles of gas per gallon.
The fuel pump overheated to the point where it melted the wire to the top of the tank, then proceeded to melt a whole in the connector going to the gas tank.
Starting truck for work in morning. Truck wouldn't start. No fuel to engine. Sent to georgian pontiac in barrie ontario. Diaognostic faulty fuel pump. Replaced. The contact owns a 1999 gmc yukon. The contact stated that the fuel pump failed at least seven times. The vehicle would stall without warning while traveling at any given speed. The vehicle would not restart when the failure would occur and would have to be towed to her place of residence. Initially, the fuel pump was replaced by the dealer under the factory warranty. All other repairs were made by an independent mechanic. The were no recalls on the vehicle and was outside of the warranty. The vin was not available at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 144,000.

Fuel tank leak from top of tank. After filling tank (not topped off), gas began pouring out from under vehicle. Tank had to be replaced (nearest dealer was 30 miles away) mechanic believed leak caused by defective tank.
Dt: the contact complained about a fuel system problem. Whenputting gas in the vehicle and fillingit up the gas spilled out underneath the gas tank. The contact has taken the vehicle to an independent party for service. The contact did not know exactly what the cause of the problem was at this point. Also, abs system failed.whenslowing down or going to stop the abs is engaged at any speed. The contact called gm, and they said they knew about the problems. The contact took vehicle to the dealer, and had the wheel sensor replaced. That has fixed the problem with the brakes. General motors was contacted over the problems, they said that vehicle was not included at this time. Gm did told the contact that they would give him a coupon for a new 2006 vehicle.

Disc warped causing vibrations and brake failure.the disc was turned a t 15k miles and was replaced at 28k. Transmission does not hold on hills. Front end was leaking due to front pinion seal failure ..
While driving on thehighway all of a suddenvehicle cut off and stalled.contacted dealer.
While driving at 60 mph rmps revved up, and the transmission slipped, mechanic inspected the vehicle, and indicated that the transmission malfunctioneddue to a failure in the ball valve. Also indicated that this was a common problem with these vehicles, and this part has been up graded in later model years to correct this failure.

The vehicle was placed in reverse but it would not move. It was placed back inpark and left running in my garage.i got out of the vehicle in order to look over the extierior for problems; none found.i then kicked/pushed the back bumper and immediately heard a clunk, the vehicle was thrown into reverse and headed at me.it caused a great deal of damage to the vehicle, my other vehicleparked in the garage and my house.i was almost run over by this driver-less vehicle. I do have a witness that saw the vehicle charging at me.
Transmission shifts hard from 1st to 2nd.transmisson does not shift to 4th (od).intermittent problem but happens most often after driving at freeway speeds or using engine braking on downgrades by shifting into lower gears.seems to be more frequent in warm/hot weather.vehicle is always lightly loaded.

Vehicle had a rusted rear axle that was not diagnosed by the dealership that sold this vehicle. However, the rims and tires were oversized to muffle the sound and hide the noise which would have sent out a signal that there were problems with this vehicle.

While slowly approaching stop sign on the first trip of the day, brakes were slow to respond and pedal depression was more than usual. Stopped on side of the road and had yukon towed to repair shop. Right front brake line found rusted through. Corrosion found on other three lines, but not as severe as right front. Replaced all four brake lines. Nine years of vehicle mileage accumulated in connecticut, and five in delaware.
Vehicle has only 21,650 m on it, usedmostly on weekends and in the snow in winter. It was doing fine until 9/18/16 when suddenly i noticed my brake was not responding as usual.i had to push the pedal to the floor repeatedly to stop, barely missed hitting the car in front of me. I was on one of my city streets getting back home after grocery shopping. Drove home slowly and very carefully.had it towed to a nearby gm dealer.he says most of the brake lines and some hoses have rusted, need to be replaced. That would be 15-16 hours labor and will cost me $ 2000.00.it snows here quite a bit and after the season, i always wash my vehicles with emphasis on the underside to remove the salt and chemicals. Besides, on this vehicle i had to repaint the hood twice, roof once and replace the rear bumper so far- all due to rust.now my front bumper is showing signs of rust.what's the matter - with all this excessive rusting on this vehicle.i have my other suv parked right beside this at home and use it in the winter time.it is much older than yukon and there is no rust problem at all with it. Looks like there is some serious problem with the metal used in this vehicleor lack of quality control.gm did a bad job with this vehicle. They say there was no recall on this model.would like to know if i can get compensatedby gm for all this hardship. Do not know what else is in store with this vehicle in future. Have to get the brake job doneright away but very pricey for my budget.please check into this problem and let me know how to proceed.looking forward to hearing from you soon.thanks,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Press brake pedal ,suv did not stop noted leak under rear driver side above tire.
As i was pulling out of the parking lot of my work, onto a public road, i came to a stop sign. I had brake pedal pressure for about 1 second, then the pedal went to the floor.there was traffic coming from both directions so i became a little nervous. The truck did stop in time though. I knew i had blown a brake line right away. I went back to work and inspected the lines and the rear line had blown apart.this is my second gm vehicle that blew a brake line in the exact same spot on the vehicle. I recently moved to florida, this vehicle has been an ohio vehicle all it life.
Abs failure. Unable to stop vehicle. Removed abs module fuse to safely operate vehicle.
Anytime i apply the brakes and reach a speed between 5 and 10 mph the abs engages and the stopping distance is greatly increased.
Brake lines are completely corroding. Imminent brake failure.
The contact owns a 1999 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while braking at low speeds, the vehicles front end would rattle and shake. The contact stated that the brake pedal would travel to the floorboard when depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the abs module needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired, however the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
The contact owns a 1999 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while applying the brake the vehicle slowed to approximately 3 mph but did not come to a stop. The dealer was notified and informed him that based on the information given there was corrosion on the brake sensor that caused the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileage was 120,000.
Had to stop in a hurry on the freeway and was going about 60 miles an hour and hit the brakes, i believe the abs locked up and i fishtailed from the left to the right and back to the left again. Engine shutoff automatically and check engine light came on. This nearly caused a multi car collision with a possible bridge fly away as we were on a bridge at the time. Luckily through defensive driving was able to gain control of the vehicle and keep it from hitting anything or anyone, however now when turning right or left there is a squeak at every rotation when going slow. Also the vehicle slowly hesitates coming to a stop and abs will sometimes start engaging causing near collisions.
The anti- lock brakes at lower speeds feel like the vehicle wants to keep going, and pulsate when applied before stopping. This happens most of the time, at low speeds. There has been no complete failure at this time (i expect it know when to stop it). I tried having this fixed at a garage and they replaced the wheel baring because they said it contains the speed sensor (it didn't work). The abs kicks in when going forward and reverse
Defective abs brakes. Having taken to gmc dealer to repair multiple times with no solution. They want to charge me more when it should be covered under service warranty and should have been resolved initially. Whenever i step on brakes to slow down the car would skid which service dealer advised brake system problem but no resolution.
Abs brake problem- activation at low speeds, why is this not covered on my vehicle but it on others?
The contact owns a 1999 gmc yukon.while driving approximately 25 mph on normal road conditions, the antilock system activated unexpectedly when the brake pedal was slightly depressed.there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that the failure was related to the brakes.the vehicle was repaired.on ten separate occasions, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for identical failures.the vehicle has not been repaired.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 49,000 and current mileage was 107,000.
(rear brake line rupture) my wife was on her way to work when she applied the brakes the brake warning light came on. The pedal became real soft as if the vehicle wasn't going to stop. After returning home, upon investigation the brake master cylinder was almost empty. I found brake fluid coming out of a badly corroded brake line just behind the fuel tank. This could have been a very bad situation. We are the second owners on this vehicle, purchased in 2001. We have always keptit maintained and clean, including car washes after snow storms to remove road salt and sand. This should not be happening on an 11 year old vehicle, thankfully this didn't result in an accident.i have also noticed the fuel lines have corrosion at ever mounting location. So, i guess these are going to fail as well some time in the future.

When stopping the antilock brake system activates at slow speed greatly increasing stopping distance. Specially when towing my boat.i had a slight fender bender with no injuries.this condition happens daily. My wheel speed sensors were replaced by a dealer. I was told that there was a recall for yukons2000 and up.our yukon is a 1999 with the same issue. Seenhtsa action number pe05020 and nhtsa campaign id number 05v379000.
Brake line failure due to corrosion of the lines,on my 1999 gmc yukon 1500further inspection the entire undersection badly corroded.
Complete brake failure when two metal lines ruptured causing a loss of hydraulic pressure in both circuits during a hard stop. Abs had not activated. The braking took place at low speed when a car ahead stopped suddenlypedal sank to the floor, and the cable-activated parking brake was then used to avoid a collision and get the truck to the side of the road.
Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle experienced intermittent, erratically brake failures without warning, while driving 10 mph, under normal road and braking conditions. The vehicle was taken into an independent repair shop who was unable to find the cause of the problem.
I went to pull my horse trailer forward to load horses and the brake pedal went to the floor.i was able to turn the vehicle uphill to get it to stop.a neighbor took the protective panel off of the front undercarriage and found brake fluid leaking from the tubing.the truck is scheduled to go to the repair shop tomorrow to fix this.

Owner applied brakes quickly and abs caused extended stopping distance.owner had to apply full weight to pedal using both feet to eventually stop vehicle to avoid collision.in my 25 years of driving i have never felt so unsafe.
The front brakes would overheat & become sluggish. Also, vehicle'swould stall out after being idled or stopped. Taking vehicle to dealer.
Whenbrakes are appliedpedal becomes soft and goes to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance. Dealer has repaired and replaced various parts of the braking system three times, but problem still exists.
While driving about any speed could step on brakes pedal to stop or to reduce speed, but the pedal will go tofloor, resulting inextended stopping distance.

Gm recall # 05068 for this safety issue.this recall pertains to certain pickup trucks and suv's between 1999 and 2002 and failing abs at slow speeds which causes the brakes to pulsate and to not work correctly.the recall covered most of the ne states (salt belt) and was caused by corrosion.the abs low speed sensor's would malfunction and cause the abs to activate and the vehicle would not stop (as if slipping).i own a 1999 gmc yukon with 70k miles and the abs sensors are shot.i called gm, they told me to contact a local dealer, when i did, the dealer said they would talk to the gm rep.final answer from gm ...since my vin was not part of the recall, they will do nothing.they want $300 to fix my 99 yukon, the same problem they would fix for free if it were a 1999 sierra k1500 truck or a 2000 yukon, both vehicles using the same abs sensors. My 1999 gmc yukon is a k1500 (as stated on the original sticker) and that vehicle is covered by the recall as well as the 2000 yukon.i have checked and the replacement sensors are the same for my 99 yukon as they are for the 99 k1500 and the 2000 yukon.gm dealer said to me, "well you truck is out of warranty".what does that have to do with a safety recall.i have names from the dealership, the local gm rep, gm customer service call #71-550013xxx.both gm and the dealership have refused to fix my vehicle under the gm recall, stating that since your vin is not listed in the recall, there is nothing we can do. One of the four front brake pads was completely disintigrated and damaged. The front rotors needing to be replaced. Gmc service center claims that the brakes are designed to break down within 20000 miles and this is normal. The brake pad failed completely and the front brakes would not operate properly or stop the vehicle. After lengthy discussion and many repeat calls the gmc representative went by the dealership and decided that it was indeed a faulty part. The claim by the service people was that gmc has changed out the brake pads to a softer compound and they will not last more than 20-25000 miles. The immediateness of the failure ( ie. The wear indicators did not work properly) may have been more dangerous if we would have been in a heavy traffic area.

All four front brake pads was completely worn and damaged. The front rotors needed to be replaced and vehicle was under warranty but gmc insist that brakes were not part of warranty even though when i took vehicle into gmc dealership for inspection gmc dealer informed me that it was a known fact at gmc that the original brakes on the yukon only lasted 10,000 to 17,000 miles. This information is not known to the consumer even though it is widely documented within gmc.this is a known hazard that should be disclosed and fixed via a vehicle recall by gmc.instead gmc puts the expense of the repair on the consumer who is unfairly, and unreasonable caught off guards paying upwards of $35k for a new 1999 vehicle unaware that they will need to spend additional monies to replace the brakes every 10,000-17,000 miles.the dealer told me that the squeaking of my brakes is the only warning sign the vehicle gives the unsuspecting owner that the brakes have deteriorated.this condition is a safety hazard that will endanger lives and gmc should stand behind their vehicles and be held accountable for the brake repairs not the unsuspecting consumer who bought the vehicle in good faith and is now "stiffed with a bill" for costly repairs on a new vehicle 1999 that has by all standards has low mileage.
1999 gmc yukon experienced anti- lock brake problems related to speed sensor corrosion.sensors were replaced by dealer in may 2005 pursuant to the ongoing investigation of the problem at that time.understanding that in the event of a recall, i would be reimbursed.initial recall correspondence by gm to nhtsa in august indicated that 1999 yukons were covered by recall.same correspondence was sent to dealers in august 2005 indicating coverage of 1999 yukons.recall correspondence from gmc to dealers and owners in october, 2005 now do not cover 1999 yukon's.i had these repairs made with the understanding that an investigation was underway, involving 1999 yukon's and with assurances from dealer that reimbursement would be made if recall was warranted.on 11/23/05 spoke with gm and dealer and both indicate that recall on this vehicle is not warranted and reimbursement is not authorized.

The abs system on my 1999 gmc yukon is exhibiting brake release at low speed.it can be described exactly as in nhtsa campaign id number 05v379000.the gm dealer said this vehicle has the same brake hardware as the 2000 model yukon which has been recalled, however, my vehicle has not been recalled.the recall should be expanded to include those 1999year yukons such as mine.i sometimes have to really push hard to get the vehicle stopped while the abs system is releasing brake pressure.i am familiar with abs design, since i was at one time the manager of the gm abs project and personally designed brake pressure release valves.i should not have to pay to have this safety defect corrected.
When applying the brakes in emergency stopping the pedal nearly traveled to the floor, causing extended stopping distance.please give any further details.
Consumer states:going at low speeds the brakes tend to give way,. Heard a noise, the brakes just failed, no matter of the weather conditions.
I have a 1999 gmc yukon. Your campaign 05v-379 regarding abs problems with gm trucks is exactly the problem we are experiencing. (ie extended stopping distances at low speed due to abs activation). In fact, the original acknowledgement to nhtsa and announcement from gm included my model year. However, when it was executed, the model years were changed to 2000-2002. I have the same safety problem and believe 1999 yukon should be included.

I have an 1999 gmc yukon, the vehicle was experiencing unwanted anti-lock brake activation. This would happen every time i was traveling at around 5-10 mph. I check on the internet before scheduling the repair and found a recall on this issue with the vehicle. When calling to make an appointment for repair i was notified that my vehicle would not be covered under the recall. Nhtsa campaign id number is 05v379000. I have had my vehicle repaired and called gmc at 1-866-996-9463 and was told that i would have to pay for the repair myself. I"m very confused on how i have the exact issue as stated in the recall but because my vehicle id number does not appear on the recall list i must pay for the repair. I would like to be reimbursed by gmc for the repair.

I recently had my 1999 gmc yukon serviced for abs wheel sensor failure. Remedy was replacement of both front wheel abs speed sensors. After the service, i was made aware of gm recall #05068 having to do with abs wheel sensors malfunctioning due to salt corrosion. My vehicle has been registered in new york state from 1999 to 2003. Currently, it is registered in virginia. I was told by gm that my vehicle will not be recalled because it is not registered in a "salt belt state". I requested that my vehicle be included in this recall due to it being registered and used in new york most of its' in service time. My claim was denied because the vehicle is currently registered in virginia. I was further told by gm that if my vehicle was still registered in ny, the recall would be issued. I feel this recall should be issued to vehicles affected, not just vehicles that are currently located in a certain geographical location.

My 1999 gmc yukon slt 4x4 5.7l vin[xxx] has the same unwanted low speed abs activation that is currently being recalled on 1999 and up gmc light trucks. I contacted two local dealers and they both told me that me vin was not recalled. I also called gm directly and was told the same thing. I think the scope of this recall needs to be expanded. I recently had to replace the rf wheel speed sensor and the problem has gone away. The abs/wheel speed sensor is not sold separately from the hub assembly. I paid $380.00 plus labor for an aftermarket hub assembly just to get an $80 sensor. The anti-lock brakes activate for no reason on dry pavement causing the pedal to go to the floor and create an exceptionally long stopping distance. This problem occurs almost every time i try to stop or during stopping at speeds less than 10 m.p.h. There is a current recall on g.m. Abs locked up while avoiding hitting a deer. Although i stomped/stayed and steered to the left, the vehicle proceeded forward, sliding into a hill and gently rolling over onto driver side. Tires tracks on dirt road show that tires were turned and locked - pushing the dirt and sliding, whereas they should've pulsed. Had the abs worked i'm sure accident would've been avoided.

I own a 1999 gmc yukon.i have been experiencing a problem with the brakes whereby the abs kicks in when the vehicle is traveling under 10 mph.i have had it to my mechanic and a gmc dealership.the behavior is identical to the gm recall 05v-379.the dealership claims that the design of my brakes is different and not covered by the recall although the symptoms are identical.i logged a consumer complaint with gm and they reply that my vehicle is not covered under the recall, although it was manufactured in the time frame noted in the recall and despite the fact that i live in the "salt-belt" region covered by the recall.the remedy is to replace the entire hub (both front wheels) according to the dealership.
Abs has caused increased stopping distance on several occasions. Both at low speed and high speed. During a stop from 60 mph to a stopped condition, abs caused braking to be reduced from about 45 mph down. Minor rear end collision resulted. On previous occasions, abs has released braking when vehicle has gone over a bump in the pavement, causing increased stopping distance. This issue appears to be similar to campaign #05v379000. Why has the 99 gmc been excluded from the recall? dealer has not been contacted - yet.

Have had several close calls, and one incident that did not result in injury or damage to either vehicle.news report dated august 30, 2005 stated gmc was recalling about 800,000 sport utility vehicles and pickups because of corrosion was affecting the abs leading to more than 200 low-speed crashes.gm recall #05v-379 suggest that 1999 vehicles are subject to recall, but gm customer service line and local dealership denies that the recall applies to my vehicle.
Brakes begin feeling harder to stop, feeling & hearing air as the pedal needs to be pressed harder & closer to the floor.a lot of room in braking activity, pressing brake does not slow, need to have foot pedal to floor.
Vehicle experiencing extended stopping distance when braking.nlm
Consumer approached a light, appliedbrakes, andit startedvibrating violently.this happpened intermittently. Vehicle did not stop smoothly.consumer will contact the dealer.
Consumers was having problems onright side of vehicle.brake pads chewed into rotors in september 1999.dealer had no explanation forproblem. Also, bolt broke to tension bar atright front.dealer was inspectingvehicle at this time.

Had taken vehicle to dealer for brake service on front disc brakesdue to wear on disc.workafter 15000 mileshad to be performed again due todiskwearing out.consumer believed that brakes were not heavy enough forvehicle. Disc warped causing vibrations and brake failure.the disc was turned a t 15k miles and was replaced at 28k. Transmission does not hold on hills. Front end was leaking due to front pinion seal failure ..

Master cylinder was replaced on two different occasions. Vehicle has been taken todealer on six different occasions for brake problems.dealer has provided repairs under warranty untillast time.consumer has had another mechanic to inspectbrakes, andmechanicfound that rotors were wearing out unevenly, causing other parts to damage.the brakes were poor and not safe.
Rotors warped, replaced jun 2001 at 10,000 miles, and again on apr 2005, at 56,000,used under normal driving conditions.
While driving on highway another vehicle was switching lanes. Consumer went to hit the brakes, andvehicle kept going, went into the median. Also, was pulsating when applying the brakes.contacted dealer, whostated that the rotors were warped.

Steering has become erratic.when turning, the ratio of wheel turn to steering wheel movement varies, increasing greatly at approx. "2 o'clock" to the right thus causing the vehicle to veer unexpectedly in the direction of the initial turn. Now it is happening while turning left also but always happens to the right.
(1) steering will bind randomly. (2) when you turn past the binding point the steering wheel moves unrestricted too far into a turn, causing the truck to swerve all over the road. (3) dealer cannot find a problem!
When driving and attempting to turn, there is a loss of steering control. Dealer says needs new steering sensor.
The steering wheel started jerking uncontrollably.the steering wheel would release and move back and forth on its own.the consumer was able to maintain control, and drove the vehicle to a local dealer.the mechanic determined that the problem could not be duplicated, and the vehicle was operating as designed.the steering position sensor was replaced. *sc
We have a 1999 gmc yukon and have had problems with the front end.we have spent numerous amounts of money on the front end and alignment searching for the cause of erratic steering. When least expected, the sterring wheel will jerk either right or left and it is frightening.we have now developed an occassional but extreme shimmy effect that results is pulling off the road and starting over toget the vehicle under control.so far all service was geared towards front end but it has come to our attention that the steering may in fact be the problem.we found no recalls applied to this but i did locate the nhtsa investigation regarding this. To be able to apply a certain incident date..no i cannot.it has been on-going since we bought the vehicle used in 2003.there has been no injury or death..praise god..but we are concerned every time we drive it.the last service issue was in february 2005, and again the service technician assumed front-end alignment.it did not fix it.

While driving at 20 mph consumer drove across a rail road crossing.after crossing the track consumer felt that vehicle needed a front end alignment. Upon closer inspection of the underside of the vehicle it was determined that the frame was cracked on passenger's side near the upper control arm. Dealer confirmed the location of the crack, but would not assist the consumer in fixing the problem.

Vehicle experiences a vibration problem while traveling 65mph or more and it causes the vehicle to be pulled to the left, dealer has tried many solutions to remedy the problem, 3 sets of tires have been changed (different brands and sizes), steering knuckles, drive line balance, and rotations have been done and the problem still exists, possibly a suspension problem.

When drivingvehicle severely pulls to the right, also a continual problem with the tires prematurely wearing.please give any further details.
When driving the vehicle pulls strongly to the right. This has become very noticeable over the last three months. The front right tire is prematurely worn due to uneven pull. Have had alignment done, which did not correct the problem. Taking back to the dealership this week.
Events leading up to incident unknown.i have a 1999 yukon, purchased used in 2001.at 160,000 miles the rif=ght rear spring broke at the rear shackle.at 166,000 miles the left rear spring broke at the same location in the same fashion.
The tire failed without any warning and created an extremely dangerous situation and loss of control. The tread was completely separated and the complete tire was shredded. I contacted gmc and they assigned an incident number of 99294608 and advised me to contact a local dealer. The local dealer said that the tire was not covered under the gmc warranty and that i should contact the local firestone dealer. The local firestone dealer advised that the tire failure was due to road hazard and not a defective tire, in spite of the fact that the incident happened on an interstate highway and there was no previous road hazard occurence. The tire disintegrated due to a high speed blow-out. The tire dot number begins with w2 and firestone kept the defective tire after i paid to have it replaced.( dot number: tire size: p265r7016 )
Was drivingwhen a small rock punctured tires. They deflated. Had tires replaced & then small pieces of glass punctured sides of tires. Each time the tires would deflate. Called manufacturer. Very unresponsive & no help offered. Michelein uniroyal tiger pawp235/75r-15.
Traveling down the interstate at 75 mph with my two children and husband, and the tread completely and fully seperated at the side wall of the tire. A policeman stopped right behind us and remarked that we must have firestone wilderness tires on it because just about a week before an expidition had 4 fatalaties because of a blowout with the same tires, about 1 mile up the road. No one in our vehicle was injured in our vehicle. We had contacted our dealer, chevrolet, othe tire stores, and firestone/bridgestone. All basically said that it was our problem and that we had better get them changed because they are "death tires" and bridgestone hung up on us after they remarked that there is nothing wrong with their tires, it was because we didn't know how to drive a suv. The complete tire id is 31520exbm2030t-2.the tire seperated in the sidewall at 70 mph on a strait rural highway at 60f temperature.i was able to control the vehicle enough to pull off the side of the road and replace the tire without incident.just thought i should report it.there is almost no visable wear on the tire prior to the blowout.dt

Vehicle was traveling at posted speed, when tire belt separated. Belt caught up in fender well and locked both rear wheels, causing vehicle to swerve left and roll several times. My wife and i are fortunate to be alive.bf goodrich claims no responsibility, due to their inspection of the tire they noted a puncture. I wonder how many thousand of tires out there have a nail or foriegn objectin them right now, that will cause the b.f.goodrich tire to fail and cause serious injury or death. It would be nice to be able to try and recover damages, but i can't afford an attorney, and of course bf goodrich takes no responsiblity. (dot number: ap70hk1145tiresize: p245/75r16)

Windshield wiper works intermittently.this has been happening for about a year.
Windshield wipers failed to operate in driving rain resulting in extremely low visability.vehicle was pulled off the road, ignition was shut off and started again in an attempt to get wipers to work.wipers still failed to operate.car could not be safely operated until rain had ceased.this is a known failure on many gm vehicles.we had a similar incident in an s-10 truck approximately 2 years ago, so we were familiar with problem.
Windshield wiper malfunction is a problem in my 1999 yukon.gmc does not want to address this seriouse problem.
Windsheild wipers works intermittentlyon a family trip had to get out and tap the windshield motor box on the firewell, and then they work. I learned of a recall, but it didn't extend to the year 1999 i think it should, and if you think it should please send me a recall. Thank you.
While getting a new set of tires on my 1999 gmc yukon, 58000 miles, the lug nuts on the right front and left front wheels would not tighten.the mechanic was using a torque wrench to tighten the lugs.four lugs on the left front and two lugs on the right front began to stress and to kneck down.i instructed the mechanic to cease and to remove the wheels from the vehicle.there was definite evidence of knecking and the lugs appeare to be very malleble.i had the lugs replaced with new lugs, and retained the lugs that were removed from the vehicle.i am a structural engineer and in my mid 60's.i have never seen the quantity of lugs from one wheel be so soft.i am the second owner of the vehicle and have been driving it since the last week of june, 2005.i believe the tires that i replaced were original equipment and this was the first time that they were off the vehicle.i believe that the yukon was manufactured in wisconsin.
