I have had to have my 1997 gmc yukon towed three times in the past 6 months due to engine failure while driving.at first, they thought it was the transmission.the transmission was replaced.the second time, i was driving and the engine started missing, then just died.no steering, nothing.it was towed to the shop again to have the transmission rechecked.got the yukon back after a month, drove it home (about 90 miles)...it was fine.then the second day after getting it back, it again started jerking, missing, and then died.i was on a hill in town when it stopped.my yukon started rollingbackwards, and i had to force the wheel to sharply steer it into a parking lot.i almost hit several cars that didn't know the vehicle had lost power.it has once again been towed to the shop.what is causing it to suddenly miss then die?

While driving through a carwashbattery died, causingvehicle to be inneed of a jump.this has happened on three different situations.dealer has been contacted.

Battery leak at sidemount positive terminal corroding cable connection and brake line metal to rubber line connection. Dealer says this is not unusual but no warranty applies except on battery.battery store says this is common with delco sidemount terminal batteries. Corrossion through brake line connection could cause loss of brake fluid and braking. Corrosion in cable could disable vehicle without warning.battery was replaced with different model having reinforced case at the terminal. Corrosion on other components neutralized with anti corrosive solution, and brake line tested for leaks.battery cable replaced.

Had parked vehicle. Left for awhile & then returned & tried starting vehicle. Would not start. Checked under hood & noticed battery acid had dripped down the side of truck. The battery had a hole in it. The battery was one that came with the vehicle. Will be taking vehicle back to dealer to have it checked.

Ea00013/battery leaks acid: battery is leaking from both negative/positive post. Feel free to provide further details.

Thisvehicle has been a problem since we bought it.right after we bought it we heard a roar in the rear end.the rear end was replace under the 3yr/36000mile warranty.soon after that the alternator was replaced under warranty.just recently we took a trip and towed our 18ft. Ski boat with us.when we returned my wife noticed a problem the next day.we had no reverse and that proved to be the transmission.we contaced the closest dealrer to us:mike morganshreveport, la. Intermittently whiledriving, the steering wheel slightly turnseither to the left or right.the dealer has replaced the gear box, thesteering sensor and the computer module, but the problem still exists. Manufacturer has been notified.

The vehicle caught on fire underneath the dash and underneath the hood, which previously had a gas smell for about 6 months. Dealer could not determine the problem.please provide further information.

Wife was driving vehicle when started to smell something burning. Parked & left the vehicle & it caught fire near the fuel tank area. Prior to it catching on fire,it was stalling out several times a day. Towed to mechanic & cause of fire or stalling was not located.gm didn't accept responsibility for the problem.*ml

Premature failure of the parts at low mileage. No safety defect listed.

Engine: a spark knock has existed since the vehicle was purchased eventually getting to the point that is was very noticeable even at 60 mph on level ground, continually.dealer replaced several computer components and eventually service the heads and intake by removing and cleaning carbon.3,000 miles later the problem is beginning again.gas mileage has suffered to 3 mpg less than when originally purchased.the drivers seat base had to be replaced due to loosness.a/c idler belt tensioner replaced.power steering hose leaked.poser steering control would be lost in right turns and valving had to be replaced.a/c does not cool adequately after engine was last serviced by removing heads and intake, reported to dealer and they said there was nothing they could do.

Continous engine rap and and noises coming from under the hood. This has been an on-going problem since first oil change.now after promises in writting from gmc, gmc says that i have to pay to have it fixed.even though the problem was documented numerous times duringthe course of the warranty and never fixed correctly.i feel that after this incident gmc does not stand behind not only their product but their word.gmc's final word is that even though this was never corrected during warranty they have got me past the warranty and now i have to pay for the repairs.

O-rings leaking on the intake manifold.*la

The coolant is causing a deterioration in the intake manifold gasket.the gasket becomes porous, and causes coolant to leak.the coolant is called "dex-cool".

Seast track on driver's side is loose and pops out. Also, the a/c damper actuator arm hits bottom of floor pan when a/c is first turned on.

At 250,000 km. Oem fuel on 97 gmc yukon quite. Oct 2007purchased a carter fuel sending unit which gave up jan/2008 at less than5000 km. Of service during cold weather. Returned for warranty and install new unit feb 2008 which gave many starting misses and hesitations and finally left stranded during minus 30 celsius weather dec 2008. Carter fuel pumps tested first unit and said pump runs fine so you will pay for second unit. Neither unit runs consistently without being rapped on a time or two during a trip to town.yes i had to make a special floor access to the tank as the towing feeswould have been astronomical not to mention the repair bills.the second unit lasted 10,000 km as it was warm weather. Reminded purchased oemgmc unit which performs flawlessly in this minus 30 weather.

Electronic fuel pump is getting hot and overheating, causing vehicle to stop running. Dealer's solution is to keep vehicle full of gas, or replace fuel pump with the same design pump. Defect can result in fire or accident. *ml

Dt:the consumer stated three years ago she had to replace the fuel pump.the fuel pump has been replaced five times in the last three years.the second time the pump was replaced the wires were burned.the wires were replaced.gm told her to take the vehicle to a gm dealership and they would pay for the fuel pump, but not the labor.

Third time in six months for fuel injection problemsbarely runs

Engine checklight appeared, indicating engine misfiring. Dealer explained that it was being caused by fuel injectors clogged up caused by gasoline formula in southern california.

If there is less than two gallons of gas when coming to a stopfuel splashes around, and shuts the engine down . Gmc has been contacted.dealer suggested that the driver to have more than two gallons gas in the tank always.

Gas tank cap was not properly shut, forcing raw fuel into rollover vents and that sensors were shutting fuel down and raw fuel was escaping/leaking, resulltin gin a fire.

I was driving home when my vehicle would not accelerate anymore. After pushing the truck home and upon further inspection found that the transmission casing was cracked. The cost to replace transmission with a remanufactured one wasapproximately $2200.00 , not includind labor. The cracked transmission is still available.

According to dealership in mcdonough, ga that fixed this truck this type of problem is not uncommon at all there seems to be a problem on the internal components of the transmission - est cost $2000.00 to fix.

Transmission failed at approximately 48,000 miles.aamco mechanic indicates it was a torque converter failure.they have indicated that this problem is common with gmc and chevrolet vehicles at 35k to 90k miles.i have since spoken with four persons who have experienced the same trouble.gmc denies trouble with their transmissions.is there a large number of failures occurring.

The transmission still clunks everytime i start driving the car from a complete stop. The dealer does not know what is the problem.

Any recourse available with manufacter? no safety defect listed.

Re: transmission. Replaced when the car had less than 5,000 miles on it, the replacement transmission failed, i was told, as the direct result of towing a 7,300 pound rv on flat terrain in overdrive. My owner's manual states i may tow in overdrive. I paid.

Our research indicates this is a common problem.why no recall? no safety defect listed.

The transmission failed at 140,000 miles, however it was not clutches or bands, but a "hardened" part in the tail shaft, since there was no warranty i had to pay to replace the transmission, the replacement would not up shift, and i am not sure i can trust the vehicle to continue to perform like it should, i think gm needs to address this problem, if we have parts that are supposed to last forever breaking, it sounds to me like they have a reliability problem!! i think they should pay for the replacement!

Transmission failed.

I put my 1 year old in his car seat and went around the other side to continue fastening in my other two toddlers, brooke, 4, and mason, 3, into their seats as well.once i got inside the drivers seat, before starting the vehicle, i had realized that i had better get another bottle out of the refrigerator.while i was inside the house, my 3 year old, mason, climbed out of his seat and jumped into the drivers seat and began playing with the steering wheel.he had turned the key switch a fourth of an inch, not even to the first click (on position), and successfully pulled down the gear shifter into neutral (obviously without applying his foot to the brake).as i was coming back out of the house, i see my car and three children going backwards down my driveway with mason behind the wheel, on his knees yelling "uh oh, uh oh!". I ran, screaming out my childs name, in an attempt to close the drivers side door so he couldn't fall out but didnt make it in time. They went straight up a bank and into the woods plowing through three trees. Sounds of glass shattering and childrens crysurrounded my head.finally, the vehicle came to a sudden halt.it says on the dash of my vehicle you must apply brake in order to pull out of park. The service managers diagnosis of my vehicle being of normal operation is in fact a contradiction to what all manuals state.this defect almost took the lives of my three very young children. I would greatly appreciate some professional assistance and concern in this matter.people need to be aware of this malfunction to avoid future accidents.my story continues and is in much furthur detail but your email page won't allow me to continue.please contact me as soon as possible.thank you and god bless!

Driveshaft failure causes vehicle to jump forward. *et

The car shifts hard from 1st to 2nd gear after driving 30-35 miles, the service engine soon light comes on and problem begins, mechanics said this is a faulty valve and was replaced 4 times, but the problem still persists.*et

While driving the vehicle about (35) mph the retaining ring broke and fell into the oil pump inside the transfer case and caused steering problemsand loss of power.the vehicle is being repaired at dealership.

While driving 65 mph, in inclement weather the windshield wipers failed.this caused poor visibility to the driver. The consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic informed the driver that thewindshield wiper circuit needed to be replaced. Please provide further details. Abs brakes at all speeds feel spongy and often goes clear to the floor.*tc

Brakes non-existent or unavailable on bumpy roads, in cold, icy or snowy conditions.apply them, but they do not seem to work at all.complete system has been checked and dealer claims they function as designed.i have not had an accident yet, but have come close on numerous occasions.

When applyingbrake pedal it feels spongy, and causesvehicle not to stop asquickly as it should. Dealer/manufacturer were not contacted at this time. Provide further details.

Anti lock brakes fail in emergency stops.

Erratic power steening control while in turns and highway driving, not always present, but able to reproduce with patients of dealer ontest drive.since new dealer has said it was tire balancing and alignment which they attemped to correct several time.after one of these correction in aug 99, problem became more apparent .wife is driver and i always took their word for correction until i insisted there is other problem and find it.so far they have replaced steering box, put on 4 new tires and wheels among a host of balancing/alignments etc , no corrections as of yet.steering wheel pulls eradictly/shudders feels gone at times.is interm at times but much more pronounced of late. Brakes;there have been many occasions where the brakes lock up when applied heavily, i learned this by asking wife and duplicated it on nurmerous occasions with erratic reaction of the brake pedal.

When driving at a speed of 30 mph and over , the steering releasesfor a few seconds and the vehicles wander all over the place . Also the steering feel loose at all times. Also when stepping on the brakessometimes the truck doesn't stop , i also don't think the abs is working properly. I tried it in slipperyconditions and i never felt the pedal shake . I had a 1995 yukon before and it worked fine.8ak

Newly replaced (100mi) delco brakes failed to stop car in a normal stopping distance, causing crash.

Shortly after purchasing vehicle i noticed that the anti-lock brakes would activate at slow speeds on normal surfaces.dealer checked vehicle out and indicated that everything was fine, and since this is my first vehicle with abs i assumed this was normal.over the past year the abs has been activating much more often and now the dealer says the hub assembly needs replaced at a cost of $300.00. In checking recall history, i have found where the 1998 yukons had a recall for this hub assembly in the spring of 1998 and the problem seems very similar to the problem with my vehicle.the dealer indicates that my anti-lock brakes are not working at this time.i would be interested in knowing if other 1997 yukons are having the same problem.thank you,[xxx]. Anti lock brakes fail in emergency stops.

Anti lock brakes activate at low speeds.this has been going on for about 1 year.took vehicle to service department 6 months ago and they would not service this problem.at very low speeds the anti lock brakes activate.the braking distance is greater when this happens. This happens everyday, but not every time the brakes are applied.

A lady slammed on her brakes in front of me when i put on my brakes there was nothing there.i then pumped the brakes and felt them catch. They popped and i stopped with a sudden jerk.i came within maybe a inch of hittng her.something needs to be done about this brake system.i took my car in thinking my brakes were going out.i was told everything was fine.they are not fine.

Driving at approx 42 mph brakes felt like they were slipping.did not stop in traffic. Pedal went to floor, brakes faded out. Vehicle went about 84 feet still did not stop. Rearended another vehicle. Dealer said rear brake was out of ajustment.

Major brake failure, in snow, on hill, brake pedal went to the floor after a loud rumble from the rear of the truck.had master cylinder replaced, and 10 days later the exact samething happened, dealer installed another master cylinder. Test drove, blew that cylinder, then replaced the abs modulator along with another master cylinder, and sent us on our way.it is now two weeks later and brake failure is being noticed again, truck is sitting currently at dealership. Also, the steering went very loose around september 1998, had that checked and repaired, at this time the steering is again getting loose.

The anti-lock brakes failed to adequately engage and stop the yukon under sudden stop situations.the brakes do not engage adequately and the vehcile continues to move forward with what could be summarized as floatingforward for at least 30 feet which has resulted in 2 crashes into the rear of other vehicles.when the dealer was questioned about this problem, a services representative stated that it was a design problem with all gmc/chevrolet suvs.gmc's only suggestion was to take it to a dealer to have the service department examine it.i believe that your recently negotiated recall with gm should be expanded to include 1997 models.

Abs fails at low speeds.pressure will dump, pedal drops or shudders, and vehicle will continue to roll for 30 feet before stopping.abs self-checks and passes test.i got tired of poor performance and pulled the abs fuse to disable it.

Vehicle lostentire braking while trying to stop. Thiscaused vehicle to rollover on its roof, no injury was reported. Vehicle at dealer shop. Informed that both abs sensors failed.please feel free to provide any further details on this matter.

When depressingbrake pedalthere isinto extended stopping distance. Also,an air noise was coming form firewall. Please provide further information.

When driving on freewayat 65mh consumerhitbrakes becausevehicle in front stopped very fast. Upon applying thebrakes, vehicle swerved from side to side and lost control.steering wheel was shaking very badly.finally came to a stop.contacted dealer.this has happened before, but the steering wheel had moved unexpectedly at high speeds.

Dt:there is a problem with the abs kicking in at low speeds.the contact has been experiencing the problem since september of 2003.had taken it vehicle to dealerto be repaired.they replaced the whole front hub bearings and the abs sensors.the problem came back in september 2005.he is taking itto dealerfor repairsin october.it is a constant and an ongoing problem.the contact has found a recall bulletin number 05068 for september o 2005. The contact's vehicleyear was not included.the contact stated that gm refused to cover the vehicle in the recall.the service dealer said that gmclaimed that if he wanted the vehicle to be safe he would have to pay for the repairs.

Rear brakes not working properly, causing excessive wear on front brakes and causing brakes to fade.

When stepping on the brakes they pulsate and make the vehicle pull to the right or left with extra braking distance.

Brakes squeal.

Brakes failed.yh

Owner was involved in a collision due to brake failure. Was driving about 30mph, trying to make a turn , stepped on the brakes and they resisted.

I am a meticulous driver.i have been through 2 sets of front rotors, 4 sets of front brake pads, and the rear brakes still look like new.the rear brakes do not work according to manufacturer bendix; many acquaintenances of mine have the same experience.i have contacted the bbb auto line many times and gmc many times; i am now ignored and gmc has warrantied none of these repairs.the braking distance is significantly increased because the front brakes are doing approx 90 percent of the stopping; problem is worse when the brakes are hot.p.s.i entered the vin correctly but this page would not take it; i double checked.????

Vehicle keeps pulling to either side of turn on speeds above 25mhp, was told is the steering sensor but have not replace it. Vehicle has been doing this since about 128k. Brake pedal is spongy even after needed adjustments were performed.

Steering speed sensor has been replace twice but vehicle still occasionally veers rapidly and unexpectedly, sometimes into oncomming traffic, when sensor malfunctions.

Erratic steering, intermittent problem, was told there is no defect. Also rear axle leaks and intake manifold leaks, due to a gasket defective installed.

Windshield wipers quit tihs is an ongoing problem with gmdc vehicles. Steering centering device make vehicle steering erratic .this is also an ongoing problem.

While driving at any speed the steering jerks and steers byitself. Dealer not aware of problem. No repairwork done. Problems still exists. Provide further information.

Steering system malfuncationed while making a turn. Steering was very loose, itfelt like driving 'on ice" whichcould have caused a crash.dealer could notdeterminecaus eof problem.please provide further information.

At speed, 20+mph, the steering will go out for a second or 2 as if it is on ice. I have noticed a recall on 98 gmc yukons,(#97v142000), but not on 97's. I have been told that it could be my steering box. These vehicles should not be driven in this condition. Steering will be lost if steering box fails completely, which in turn causes accidents.

Steering goes "soft" and makes control of vehicle difficult for a brief time.

Steering will suddenly jerk slightly to left or right after turning off highway exit.steering will also becomes hard or soft for brief moment.my tire inflation is good and the front end has been aligned several times with no affect to steering performance.problem is currently an irrirtant but could pose a safety issue if steering jerked into incoming traffic.

Erratic steering at highway speeds.

Please do something about this, this problem is all over the internet ! it's very dangerous!! make gmc do something !! my dealer made me buy the new evo steering sensor for $40.

Vehicle keeps pulling to either side of turn on speeds above 25mhp, was told is the steering sensor but have not replace it. Vehicle has been doing this since about 128k. Brake pedal is spongy even after needed adjustments were performed.

Steering fails erratically and at unexpected times."play" in steering becomes so large that the wheel can be turned with no deflection of the tires.

Ongoing problem with steering control of vehicle(variable assist steering sensor failure) . Vehicle been/out of dealer shop and various repairs made.but problem still occurs. Can nhtsa help in this matter or provide additional information.

Steering wheel and car shake violently between 20 mph- 55 mph.problem started at 100,000 miles.has been looked at by two different mechanics and repair businesses and one tire business with no resolution.*la

Steering is poor, demonstrates the tendency to wander.

The steering would jerk the wheel left or right while in a turn causing a momentary loss of control of the vehicle.steering box was replaced before.finally the evo sensor was replaced.abs also have never worked felt good, the pedal goes to low before the brakes slow the vehicle down.this has been a complaint since the truck was new.the retailer seems not very concerned with my complaints.especially knowing that i am an automobile technician they feel i will let the problem go.their repairs have been unsatisfactory from the beginning.i have had to complain about problems many times before, finally the problems are fixed.with the steering problem i had to contact another dealer tech i knew and ask him the problem which he knew what was wrong immediately.please do something before all these trucks with this steering and brake problem. ***dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****734335

Intermitten drop in steering to the right, mostly during corners. About a quarter turn of the steering wheel. Was told to me by a mechanic that gm has known about this and there is only one part from the dealer dealing with it. No aftermarket item. It was told to me that it is a speed sensor on the steering column that governs the speed sensor for the power steering. Durning a turn at almost any speed, the steering drops out a quarter of a turn. Quite a shock to someone doing 60 miles per hour on a busy freeway.

I have experienced intermittent loss of power steeringi in my 1997 gmc yukon when making left turns. I took the vehicle in for service on 10/24/2003 (trouble not found). I took it in again on 10/31/2003 and they replaced the power steering evo sensor ($213.60). Still have trouble. Again i took the vehicle for service on 11/19/2003 when the power steering pump was replaced ($648.50). The vehicle still ng. Took it in on 12/1/2003,can't isolate trouble. Again on 12/10/2003, this time they changed the power steering box? so far the trouble seems to be fixed. Then i saw an article showing the exact same trouble i'd been experiencing with other gmc vehicles. However, my vehicle wasn't listed as one of the models they were looking at. This should be checked out.

While making a left or right turn on a curve, the steering feels like it goes away and there is no steering control at all.the steering gear box has been replaced by the dealership.

At higher speeds when traveling over 50 mph the power steering releases and the yukon wanders all over the road. The steering box has been replaced twice. The problem still exists.

Lost control of truck momentarily while making a slow turn. Problem seems to be intermitent.

While proceedingthrough a road curve to the right(only) at speeds above 35 mph, the power steering assist suddenly releases or gives way, resulting in over steering , and veering to the right. Problem manifests itself only in right turns above 35 mph, and only when steering wheel exceeds a rotation of 35-40 degrees.

Power assist causes very loose steering.could easily cause an accident.

Steering gives way when turning right corners. Also there is a lot of play when driving 30-40 mph in the steering.

During routine driving while making a turn at any speed, vehicle will suddenly pull in direction of turn without any steering wheel movement. Friend of mine with same vehicle (except gas powered) had same prob. And was advised it was a steering relay in the column and could not be repaired easily. Concern: during cornering a higher rate of speed or during evasive or defensive maneuvering - may cause vehicle rollover.

While driving vehicle at high speeds on the highway steering was so sensitive that the car would sway from side to side. Dealer has repaired vehicle.

Power assist seems to pull on its own, for no reason to the left at highway speeds, kinda scary when it happens. I would think there should be a recall on this.

The steering wheel suddenly moved counter clockwise slightly.this happened 4 times in a span of about 5 minutes during a 5 hour trip.this is the first time that i have encountered this problem.it felt as if i lost control of the steering for a fraction of a second.

Vehicle experienced severe erratic steering when driving at 50 mph or more. Hard to steer vehicle on the road when traveling at highway speed. Vehicle has not been inspected at this time. But dealer was contactd via phone. Please feel free to provide any further details.

Power steering sticks at any speed.occurs mostly when you make right turns or go into right curves.power steering has gone completely out a few times.

The steering wheel, while you are driving, will suddenly jerk to the left or right as if you are not the one driving.it will just about send you into the ditch or inot oncoming traffic!i contacted my local dealership, and the stated since my vehicle is out of warranty, and there is no recall, it would cost me $300.now, i have 2 small children and i need a large vehicle for room, but this steering problem is bad!some one's going to get killed!!its that bad11 my husband was driving the yukon one day and had to fight the wheel to keep it inthe road.please help, we need a formal recall.

While driving down highway power steering froze, consumercould not turn wheel.

Power steering assembly leaked. Certified mechanics have replaced assembly 4 times now. It is thought that the seal area between the pump assembly and fluid resevoir was warped. Resevoir replace this last visit. Am really interested in knowing if this problme has been common to yukons.

The first time the power steering unit went into a hyper-super-squirrely(only mometary) mode was at 5000 mi. Vehicle has been to the dealership several times with the same response from the dealership every time, could not duplicate problem. The evo sensor has been replaced but the problem manifested once again after a few hundred miles. Steering has gone "hyper" at speeds above 30 mph, turning left and right,as well as on straight sections of roadway. It is a very frightening feeling to lose control of several thousand pounds of steel traveling at freeway speeds. Luckily i have always managed to regain control before going off of the road,i hope my luck continues. I suspect gmc will not remedy this situation unless numerous people are killed first.

Vehicle experiencing suspension failure, causing vehicle to shake / vibrate uncontrolably.

Whenever turning steering wheel to the right, it would jerk violently. Would almost lose control. Had happened numerous times. Will be taking vehicle to dealer to check.

Erratic steering, intermittent problem, was told there is no defect. Also rear axle leaks and intake manifold leaks, due to a gasket defective installed.

Front tires rub against suspension during a full left/right turn, causing the inner sidewalls to be damaged due to the rubbing.

Dash bezel and an instrument cluster lens failed.

The transmission still clunks everytime i start driving the car from a complete stop. The dealer does not know what is the problem.

Acceleration from stop sign engine revved up to 4k and accelerated, gas pedal droped like in cruse, stepping on brake did not solve problen, had to turn eng. Off and restart 3 times before ran normaly. All systems were in off position.

On several occasions, vehicle lurches either immediately before coming to a stop or immediately after taken off from a stop.it happens 90 percent of the time. Dealer could not remedy problem.vehicle under extended warranty.consumer is concerned that vehicle is unsafe each time it lurches forward leaving driver with no control.

On my 1997 yukon the front wiper motor fails intermittently usually while driving in the rain. The failure is caused by a manufacturers defect in the wiper motor circuit board. In 1998 a recall was issued for this problem on a number of gm vehicles, however the recall covered vehicles from 1994 to early 1997. Although gm continued to use the same defective circuit boards in at least the late 1997 and 1998 models they were not included in the recall. We have had 2 1998 gmcsierra's that had the same problem and everyone else i know with a 1998 sierra has had this problem. In fact some years ago a met a man who's wife was killed in an accident after the sudden failure of their wiper motor. Because their vehicle was also a 1998 and not included in the recall there was no compensation. By now i am sure gm is well aware of the fact that they continued to use the defective circuit boards long after the dates covered in their recalls.

Outside rearview mirrors vibrate.

Consumer stated that the problem was consistant with recall.number campaign id number : 03v159000although the consumer missed this recall by a year the problem is still the same. Abs brakes at all speeds feel spongy and often goes clear to the floor.*tc

Windshield wipers quit tihs is an ongoing problem with gmdc vehicles. Steering centering device make vehicle steering erratic .this is also an ongoing problem.

Mywindshield wipers work occasionally or fail completely. I am afraid of some day i will be caught in the rain, with them not working. I called my local dealer, and explained my problem. They said i would have to fix them myself at a cost of $120, because my yukon is not part of the recall.

Windshield wipers don't work sometimes. Switch is operative as is motor. Electrical shop wants to "search down a potential short" they have seen several yukons with this problem and 1996 yukons were recalled for this problem.

The consumer has experienced problems with the winshield wipers. *scc

Broken wiper motor, will not be covered by gmc or dealer due to its a 1997 and has 110k miles.it happend during a rain storm and i was stranded by the side of the road for an hour.now i cant drive in the rain, and they want 200 bucks to fix it.why is it not covered under the recall?i called gmc and have record number 1-239-630035.

Windshield wipers fail. Same part gmc uses in 1997 c/k series and 1997 surburbans have been recalled under gm recall number 03023. 1997 yukons should be included in this recall. The part is the same.
