When attempting to manuever to avoid collision from vehicle crossing line, driver lost control hitting tree @ 50 mph. No air bag deployment.tt

While driving vehicle turned left, would not turn back to right, put on brakes and abs brakes failed to catch, vehicle hit telephone pole, air bag did not deploy.

The contact owns a 1995 gmc yukon. The contact stated while driving 35 mph the vehicle went "idle" and stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the technician diagnosed possible electrical issues. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was unknown.

Battery leaked into engine bay, requiring new battery and re-rustproofing of chassis and engine bay components.

Pe99-073,battery post came apart from the battery, causing fluid/acid to spill over the brake electrical system, resulting in poor braking ability andextended stopping distance. Consumer has contacted the manufacturer.

Orginal delco battery leaked acid all over fender well and floor of garage. Upon investigating , found that positive post was loose from battery and leaking. Replace with another delco, suppose to be a better model and corrected the problem they were having. Again in about 18 months, the same thing again. Replaced again with same problem, this time i bought a sears die hard, and hopefully solved the problem. Heard the same storey from at least 10friends and business associates. Should have realized they had a problem. I think it is in the bolt (terminal) disign. Shorter bolt (terminal) on negative side, and either the longer bolt on the positve termanal was piercing the inner wall of the battery, or it wasn't going in far enough and causing an electrical bad connection, causing a heat build up. I think you will find in most cases this was the same problem, and bolt was coroded to nearly nothing in the center of positive bolt. I see where on the newer g.m . Trucks this has been changed and i sure hope i don't have that problem. Thanks for listening.

In august 1997 original manufacture battery leaked acid thus corroding the air bag sensor, positive & negative cables & corroding other metal parts to frame of the yukon.there is now visible rust due to the acid leak.gm dealer martin gmc replaced the battery under warranty.for the second time on 11/24/99 with the 1yr battery gm replaced leakage occured again.this time my anti-lock brake sensor light came on.needless to say, i had to pay out of pocket $543.94 for replacement of sensor, new front brakes, & new rotors for a vehicle with only 54,194 miles. Also, gm refused to replace the 1year old battery that was leaking because the car was no longer under manufacture warranty even though the battery had leaked previously under warranty.they wanted me to purchase a batter for $80.00.i refuses & purchased a battery at walmart.this acid problem has caused irreversible damage underneath the hood & it is a recurrent problem.if this is a common problem is there any recourse in getting my money refunded?

Re seals, dealer said it had more to do with where i lived (extremes in temperature) - re rear end, dealer could work w/ us if auto had less than 60,000. No safety defect listed within summary.

These seals have failed - leaked and been replaced 5 times since 1995.this is costly and seems to be a problem that repeats itself.

Engine leaking oil.

Headlight failure at night while driving my 1995 gmc yukon, two times in the last two months. Have tried to get information from gmc on how to have my local gmc dealership fix the problem. Gmc response was to take it to the dealer and they will figure it out. How long could that take at my expense? according to what i have seen on the internet the 1995-96 yukon's were subject to this problem. Therefore gmc should be able to tell their dealer how to fix the problem.i would appreciate your help. Thank you.

Grill failed during normal driving conditions; also, turn signalmounting parts broke.

Fuel sender failed, causing fuel guage to be inaccurate.quoted repair cost is $341 for part and $200 for labor.i find the price for the simple repair part to be very excessive.has any one else reported similiar escessive parts cost?

Engine exhibited symptoms of starting hard when hot or stalling with no warning.the ses light would come on and the codes 17, 18, 35 & 36 were stored.dealer was contacted regarding this and truck was at dealer for 3 appointments but did not resolve problem.these codes almost always indicate a failing fuel injection pump and calls to customer relations line asking why nothing was being done to change the fuel injection pump didn't get anywhere.a case number was assigned. All visits to the dealer were during the warranty period.a trip following the last visit to the dealership nearly resulted in a rear end collision on and interstate as the truck stalled in heavy traffic.i purchased a new gm fuel injection pump and installed it myself and resolved the problem completely.gm has since reinstated the warranty for this problem on several trucks including mine.i am submitting a request for a refund for my losses.

Just had diesel fuel injection pump number 4 installed on my truck.last one ran just over 25,000 miles.this pump fails without warning and under the right circumstances it can lead to a serious accident.gm issued an extended warrenty for these pumps.ive experienced failure with their latest pump and it was replaced under warranty..the engine will fail without any warning whatsoever and any speed, including highway speeds in heavy traffic.if this doesnt warrant a safety investigation i dont know what does.just had diesel fuel injection pump number 4 installed on my truck.last one ran just over 25,000 miles.this pump fails without warning and under the right circumstances it can lead to a serious accident.gm issued an extended warrenty for these pumps.ive experienced failure with their latest pump and it was replaced under warranty..the engine will fail without any warning whatsoever and any speed, including highway speeds in heavy traffic.if this doesnt warrant a safety investigation i dont know what does.

Fuel lines rusted to the point of failure.the vehicle wouldn't start and had to be towed.the sending unit and first section of fuel lines are one piece, so the sending unit also had to be replaced.i do not drive this vehicle on the beach, nor has it been in a flood.fuel lines and sender replaced a high cost.

1995 yukon fuel and brake lines were diagnosed as having potential rust.a year prior to this incident the brake lines near the master cylinder rusted to the point of failure.thefuel lines on top of the sending unit also rusted to the point of failure.the brakes locked unexpectedly at low speeds without pressure on the brake pedal. It was determined that the right rear lower brake anchor was shearing off the backing plate, going to one side, consequently allowing the brake shoes to engage without brake pressure. Updated 03/09/06.

Map lights failed. *dh

We had never towed anything with this vehicle, never took this vehicle off roading either.the mechanic said that a gear popped through the casing, there are many noticable cracks in the casing.we kept all the old parts for inspection.i feel that i had a defective casing or something along those lines.a vehicle with less than 57000 should have never done this.i called the local gm dealer and they were not helpful at all.

At startup or during travel, the gear shift indicator light will either not illuminate or go out.as a result the driver has difficulty distinguishing which gear the car is in.during the evening hours it is almost impossible to see the gear shift indicator at all. This problem is an intermittent. All so i have noticed that the tach and speedometer gauges do not work either when the gear shift indicator light is not working.

2-door tahoes and yukons are particularly susceptible to roll-over, for lack of a rear anti-roll bar from the manufacturer. Our 1995 yukon rolled at less than 35mph and was totaled.we installed a rear anti-sway bar on our replacement 1995 tahoe and it is now much safer.fortunately no one was hurt but the rear sway bar should have been standard equipment on all 2-door tahoes and yukons.
