The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the brake pedal was depressed however, there was a delay for the brakes to engage causing the vehicle to crash into another vehicle.the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed. The contact stated that there were no injuries. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact stated was awaiting an inspection by a manufacturer field inspector. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was repaired under an unknown brake recall.the approximate failure mileage was 59,600. *dt

Takata recall or sensor failure. While driving 45mph, and just slammed the brakes rear ending the stopped car in front of me. The airbag failed to deploy. I had extensive damage to my front end and the car i hit was totaled. That air bag should of deployed.

Gmc brake light failure -i own a 2016 gmc yukon xl and after about 45,000 miles the brake lights have started intermittently not working.after having a gmc technician tell me that its a known issue and seeing hundreds of others posts online, it is evident that this is a very widespread problem.i was nearly involved in a rear end crash on the freeway because the driver told me i did not have any brake lights.this is a serious safety issue and gmc needs to correct it.they want me to purchase 2 replacement light units at 750.00 each.

Rear tail lights (brake lights) work intermittently.there is a "special coverage adjustment" but it is set for a maximum number of miles or time (6-years).i have a 2016 gmc yukon xl.the passenger's side was replaced in 2018 and now the driver's side is defective/inoperable.but because we are at 96000 they won't repair.

Right rear brake light works intermittently.no warning lights or messages on the dash.people have told me we have a brake light out, but when i check it later it works.was pulled over for inoperable brake light, but later that evening the tail light was working.seems to be a lot of info on internet about a broken strip of metal.safety issue.

Rear passenger side light fixture led failed as a result of failure of metal contact point within led enclosure. Issue is well documented on the internet however gmc has failed to response.vehicle is only 3 years old with 79,300 miles. Repair cost was estimated at $913.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated while driving, the air conditioner failed to operate. The contact inspected the air condition condenser and noticed that it was damaged and leaking. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 71,125. The vin was unavailable.

Passenger side brake light stopped working (both in motion and stationary).it looks like many owners are also experiencing this problem, so would be great if an investigation could be started.

Running boards failing to work properly all the time. Sometimes will start to go down but return up when opening door. Will also fail to go up after closing door and remain down. Middle row dvd screen is black and not working. Rear brake lights working off and on. Horrible loud squealing sound under the hood. The vehicle will also begin to shake randomly and feels jumpy at times.

The right rear brake light quit working.will come on when pushed against car.dealer said it was electrical in the brake light unit.

I have been notified on two occasions on the road that my tail light was out. When i was able to check them, both tail lights lit up then turned on. It must be an intermittent issue.

Third time the led circuit board led lights on rear tail light assembly has shorted out and required replacement due to brake lights not working. Gmc is well aware that this is a frequent issue on the yukons and has done nothing about it. Individual brakelight circuit board of led bulbs cannot be changed out because it is plastic welded and sealed into the tail light, costing $600.00 to repair each time it shorts out. This is a safety issue that should not keep happening. There are folks driving w/o functional brakelights because they cannot afford the cost and frequency if repair. It is a poorly made engineering flaw by gm that dealer admits happens all the time due to moisture getting into light and shorting circuit board. Brakelight will not work when stationary or when in any motion.

At 64,497 my wife's power steering went out on her vehicle. This happened a day after our trip to atlanta, ga. We took it to our local gmc dealership and was notified that 4 modules had to be replaced and a recommended wiring harness. In 2015 gmc vehicles had a similar issue and recall but not the 2016. This cost me $1400 in repairs.

Bought suv 6/25/2016 the same weekend the engine turns off after a left or right turn :it has happened 3 times so far.4 week old 2016 yukon denali xl, has stalled 3 times in last 4 weeks, engine cuts off after a left or a right turn only after a short drive out of home. The suv has to be restarted! could have easily had an accident or worse. I took it to the westpoint gmc dealer, 3 times. 1st two times, all of service deptartment could not diagnose the problem. Today, after a stall, i called onstar, who ran a diagnostics test, but onstar found nothing of value , i left it at dealership and contacted district mgr. Matt tillson . I was told that they would escalate the issue. I did tell dealer that gmc and dealership would be at fault if vehicle is involved in an accident and stalls nor stops while i am driving. I did not want the vehicle back without the problem having been fixed. Its day 6 today. I need to make it absolutely clear, i will not take the vehicle back untill the problem has been diagnosed, and fixed. I do not want me or my family or gm service employee injured, or worse, or to be involved with a possible accident in my gmc yukon denali xl. A field service engineer should have been on this case already ! will it take an accident, or injury before someone gets assigned?

Left and right brake/running lights work intermittently. Occasionally one side will work and the other doesn't and vise versa. More often than not, neither side works. Gm knows about this defect and refuses to correct the problem that their manufacturing caused. This is a major safety concern as my wife and three young children use this vehicle on a daily basis.

Received a recall notice for my 2016 yukon xl, due to brake vacuum pump faulty.however mcgrath auto in cedar rapids, ia resolve to this recall was to simply reprogram the electronic brake control module.this was completed 12/19. By 2/20 my brakes were requiring me to push harder and at times sounded like they were skipping and braking felt delayed. I also was hearing a squeak/clicking sound coming from what seems the front of my vehicle engine area. Due to quarantine i was not driving or going places but once our state re-opened i called this dealership to report the brake concern and scheduled appt.a day before appt, while stopped at a red light as i moved forward in a very slow crawl my brakes failed me and i could not stop.i bumped the car in front of me which resulted in damage to both vehicles.i reported this to mcgrath as i was scared immensely about the safety of my vehicle.during the service appt 6/11/20 my car was diagnosed with a faulty brake vacuum pump.the vacuum pump was replaced and i was told i was still within the warranty .however they replace all 4 tires and claimed to recalibrate.on 6/25 while in colorado brake, abs and cal lights lit up, the steering wheel power was gone, trailer brake system illuminate, (never even towed a trailer)called mcgrath from colorado as i couldn't drive my car, i explained what was happening, their resolve was to google gmc dealership in area for me.i found my own in cadillac/gmc dealership in boulder.my children and i are without a vehicle while out of state. Dealership in boulder diagnosed my vehicle with faulty electronic brake control module. I am furious as they say it will not be covered through warranty. My 2016 yukon is in impeccable condition, issues all happened upon recall with only 35,000 miles. My experience is exactly what is being reported by others impacted by this recall.

Progressive intermittent brake light functionality that eventually culminated with complete inoperability; only the right/left brake light assemblies are affected; reverse lamps operate; upper center brake light functions normally; this is a known problem with gmc brake light assemblies per multiple forums

Rear passenger brake light stop working, vehicle is only 2 years old. We should not be having this issue so soon or at all, since led lights normally dont stop working. I also looked into fixing it and its gonna cost $700 dollars. This is ridiculous!

The brake light led panel stopped working on one side and goes out intermittently in the other side

Brakes were not 100% responsive starting in summer 2019; vacuum pump was replaced pursuant to recall in late 2019 and software error related to braking was addressed by dealer in january 2020. Customer stated to dealer that brakes are still not 100% responsive, and that brakes will pulse a few times when pressed and before the vehicle actually starts to stop. Dealer refused to consider that existing issues with last two recalls in 2019 related to brakes could be causing non-responsive brakes.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. While driving at low or high speeds, the vehicle shook violently as if it would fall apart. Also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to cappellino buick gmc (5411 transit rd, buffalo, ny 14221) where it was diagnosed with a torque converter shudder failure and a transmission flush was completed. The dealer advised the contact to drive for 200 miles to correct the failure; however, the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where another transmission flush was completed. The contact was also informed that the sheet metal on the cross-member was causing the vibration. The cross member was repaired. After the repairs, the cabin of the vehicle was uncomfortable with uneven pressure and a high velocity vibration. The same dealer and west herr chevrolet of williamsville (8040 transit rd, williamsville, ny 14221) performed several transmission flushes. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a claim was filed. The contact was compensated for the failure; however, the failure continued. The contact stated that the vehicle was currently at the west herr dealer as the vehicle was stalling, the rpms increased, and the traction and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 42,241.

In my yukon while idlel the car start shaking so bad, it has a vibration you can see the needle going up and down, took it several time to the dealer and they said they know is a problem with the car but general motor company has not issue any repair for that at this moment, i contact general motor company they said the car is operating normal base on the report provided by the dealers, for me is not normal having a brand new car shaking and vibrating like if will turn of, looks like if misfired on the engine,

The transmission went out,the engine is making a noise and a service center said lots of gm's vehicles are having the same problem the power steering system also stop working and i have to replace it

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle shuddered when shifting gears. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the transmission, transmission fluid, and wiring harness needed to be replaced; however, parts number: 700, 711, 2429, 7371, and 87571 were on backorder. The contact called ted britt chevrolet (46990 harry byrd hwy, sterling, va 20164, (703) 955-3610), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that they would attempt to locate the parts; however, no further assistance was provided. The contact stated that the vehicle was a lemon. The failure mileage was 65,350.

Led brake lights don't work car shakes and transmission shudders while driving 35-45mph

Vehicle has 125k miles and had a broken valve spring which dropped the valve into the cylinder which is requiring a new engine. I was stopped at a stop light when this occured on a city street.

Rear passenger brake light has stopped working. Took into dealership and it appears gmc does not cover under warranty.it appears that there are numerous reports of rear brake light issues with gmc vehicles, specifically yukons but gmc continues to indicate this is not a problem.

I have been notified on two occasions on the road that my tail light was out. When i was able to check them, both tail lights lit up then turned on. It must be an intermittent issue.

Drivers brake light shorts out and stops working.

Both sides brake lights stop working intermittently then come back on again.

Driver side brake light out . Its a known issue with the lights and gmc refuses to acknowledge its an issue...

I have been told by multiple people that one or both of my brake lights has not been working. I have tested them myself and i too get mixed results. Sometimes one works and other times neither. Being that i drive 30 minutes to and from work everyday this is a major concern.

My brake lights will work one minute and go out the next. I had a friend and my husband tell me that when they were following me the light was out when i stopped but at the next stop or at home it would work. This has been happening for months. Last week i took it for state inspection and the inspector said it was out i had to get it replaced. When i pulled forward it started working again to pass inspection. Today i took my yukon to the dealership for an oil change and it went out again. Others waiting told me this is a recall on other year/models with gmc.there is a short in the circuit panel.

Model yukon xl 2016, less than 50k miles, brake lights have failed completely. No rear braking lights. Entire assembly has to be replaced. First noticed in july, have only had vehicle for 14 months.

My vehicle is only three years old. The right rear led taillight has failed.the taillight no longer works. It does not work with the daytime running lights or when you press on the brake.this is a known issue with the 2016 gmc yukons. The dealership wants $900.00 to replace the entire light housing.

Brake lights faulty. Have had both passenger and driver's side replaced. Drivers side is now shorting out again. Tons of owners of the yukon line have had the exact same problem with faulty tail lights. Law enforcement thinks it is a major safety issue which it is! these tail lights work intermittently or not at all!

Tail light went out and is a known and common issue within 2 to 4 years of vehicle ownership (often both sides go out). In my case, the driver side tail light went out. Total cost for me was $850. There are many comments regarding this online. Typical cost to repair is $700 to $800 at dealership. Only other option to reduce cost is to mail out part, but this leaves you without a vehicle for several days for repair and delivery time.

My driver side taillight went out. Dealership refused to replace as my 2016 was no longer under warranty. However, the dealership admitted to the large number of lights that they have had to replace. I had to order and aftermarket light to replace myself. The very next day after replacing the light, my passenger side taillight is now out. This is unacceptable!!! so many complaints regarding this online. This first happened to drive side around july 2019.we were finally able to replace the light in jan 2020. The passenger taillight went out 1/13/2020.

Right rear tail light / brake light quit working. Vehicle has 74,200 miles. Whole tail light assembly has to be replaced. This is a $800 dollar repair for a defective part that gm knows is defective and a safety issue. How is it a vehicle manufacturer can sell a vehicle with a defective part?this is a sealed part that the owner cannot repair on their own. This issue is not due to owner neglect or misuse but manufacturer's defect.

Brake light has gone out twice in 3 years.

A few months ago the driver side taillight stopped working (or would only work intermittently).took to dealer and they said it was $850 to repair.filed complaint with gmc and as i was working through that with them the passenger side taillight stopped working as well.now i have a vehicle that is not even 3 years old without working taillights.this is totally ridiculous.a $65,000 'professional grade' vehicle should not be having this issue at 55,000 miles. Gmc needs to wake up and recall these.will it take a fatal accident to spur a recall??

Right tail light went put, took it to get fixed. They said it was the circuit board and i had to pay $900 to get it fixed. The dealership said they have had a ton of the circuit board replacements and didn't know why gm didn't do a recall. Now, my left side circuit board is out and needs to be replaced.

My rear tail lights stopped working and the dealership is charging $800 to replace the module. Previously i had a 2016 yukon xl and the same thing happened around 40k miles. My sister-in-law also has a 2016 yukon xl and one of her tail lights did the same thing. After searching online this seems to be a common problem with 2015 and 2016 yukon xl models and gm should be replacing these parts at no cost to these thousands of people experiencing this problem when the car isn't even 5 years old.

I was notified by another driver my passenger rear tail light was out. There is no notification on the dashboard to alert drivers. The next day the light was working. I continued to check it periodically and figured it was a fluke. I was stopped again while driving that the light was out roughly a week later. After looking into repair the cost is ridiculous $650-$800+ and it appears to be a widely known issue. I was actually in a parking lot and saw a vehicle exactly like mine same light out. Not sure why lights are going out in a three year old vehicle just hitting 40000 miles.

Rear tail light / brake light quit working while still under warranty. We took it to the dealer and was denied covered. The unit is a complete led assembly and cannot be repaired. The price quoted was $700 for the assembly. A quick internet search shows that thousands of people have experienced the same issue and gm will not acknowledge it as a problem and will not cover under warranty. This is most definitely a dangerous situation for owners who suddenly have no tail or brake lights on their new/newer vehicles.

Both break lights went out, weather has been hot in the high 90s whichgmc dealer expressed common concern among owners during summer. Vehicle is used 15miles/day on average.

My wife was driving down a major road and a person pulled next to her at a stop to tell her that her brake lights were working only part of the time. Gm had just serviced my vehicle and didn't catch it, and upon researching the issue, it is a known faulty design of the tail light assembly. The led brake light starts intermittently failing at the 2 year point, leading to drivers following drivers to not know that the leading vehicle is stopping. This is a common issue and the only response from gm is to make the customer buy a new $700 brake light assembly. The issue is so common that multiple companies have started brake light repair services and multiple youtube videos exist to walk individuals through the process of repairing their own brake lights. The cost of the repair is so steep that i hesitate to get the problem fixed, and though gm reportedly has developed a replacement light assembly that corrects the fault, they are not taking responsibility for the defective brake light assemble that these vehicles come off the assembly line with. The major danger is that we drive from the front of the vehicle and likely do not know our brake lights are intermittently failing--since gm cannot even catch this when they do service on vehicles (mine had been in the shop for an oil change a few weeks before the brake issue), then they are leaving a lot of customers driving without brake lights to avoid the cost of the repair even though they approved a faulty design.

I purchased my 2016 yukon xl denali used with 40k miles. I have had the vehicle less then a week and have had several people tell me that i have a brake light out on the passenger side, but every time i stop and have it looked at its working just fine. The cost to replace it is approximately $700 for each assembly. After some research i have found that there are a lot of people having this issue and that gmc is aware of this issue but won't do anything about it. I'm afraid that i might be rear ended because the lights decide not to work at that moment.

Driver side rear brake and tail light and turn signal worksintermittently.sometimes it works fine, some times itflickers, and sometimes it it totally out. This issue happens randomly. I have seen it while parked, and while going down the road

Gmc 2016 yukon xl denali back taillights and brake lights are out. All of them.very dangerous.gmc denied responsibility but everyone i know that has the same car says they have had issues. Never had this in any other vehicle in 30+ years of driving. They are obviously faulty and they need to accept responsibility

Led brake lights don't work car shakes and transmission shudders while driving 35-45mph

Faulty break lights.the led circuit is faulty and cracks which requires the entire light assembly to be replaced.

Vehicle has 52,000 miles on it and driver side tail light stopped working.it is an led and should last for many years.has not been in an accident.this is faulty manufacturing. Consumer protection needed.

The drivers side brake/rail light stopped working and vehicle only has 27,800 miles on it. Have seen and heard of many others with the same problem. Led lights should last longer then incandescent lights.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that the passengerā€™s side taillight was inoperable. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 19v761000 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes, electronic stability control) however, the vin was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000

Led brake light circuit broken- brake light doesn't illuminate

My 2016 yukon denali passenger brake light has stopped working. I see there are many other complaints identifying the same issue - question why hasn't gmc issued a recall for a known problem. With the circuit board breaking this is obviously a manufacturing issue that needs to be addressed and is most definitely a safety issue and increases the odds of being rear-ended as a result of inoperative brake lights. Fortunately i had a stranger stop me in a store parking lot to let me know the brake light was out. The repair is $800 at the dealer!

The right rear brake light quit working.will come on when pushed against car.dealer said it was electrical in the brake light unit.

The led brake lights fail intermittently and then completely due to a design flaw of weak circuitry.the led circuit breaks from fatigue in the brake light housing. There is no dash notification to tell you when a brake light has failed.gm replacement brake lights cost $650 each but they have the same design flaw.pictures attached.

The brake light led panel stopped working on one side and goes out intermittently in the other side

The passenger tail light and brake light work intermittently.

The passenger side brake light stopped working with no indication on the instrument panel. This appears to be a common problem for model years 2015 thru 2019 due to a design/manufacturing defect. The repair involves replacing the entire taillight assembly for about $800. The dealer will not repair under warranty after 2 years or 24,000 miles even though it is a safety related defect. There is not a safety recall at the present time. My vehicle is over 2 years old but only has 20,000 miles.

Rear driver's side brake light is inoperable. My vehicle is less than 3 years old. If my local police department views this as a problem, so should the nhtsa. Gmc needs to recall this known problem. How many people have to report this problem for it to be addressed? this is a safety issue!!!

Rear brake light works intermittently.

Tail light issues. Replaced driver side light approximately less then 6 months ago and passenger tail light is out. Same issues as driver side light.

The right tail light and brake light failed at only 44,000 miles.fails to work in all phases of operation.

Rear led tail lamps have a high failure rate, leaving the vehicle in the dark at night. This has occurred 2 time over the past 2 years. Light has now been out since jan 2019 and gm claims they are still waiting on the part.

Rear passenger light is not working.the board is cheaply made and dealer wants me to buy a new light fixture for $800.

Progressive intermittent brake light functionality that eventually culminated with complete inoperability; only the right/left brake light assemblies are affected; reverse lamps operate; upper center brake light functions normally; this is a known problem with gmc brake light assemblies per multiple forums

My left taillight is out. There was no damage to the light it just stopped working! it would work sometime and sometime it would not. Now it is not working at all!

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the contact was informed that the brake lights were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to texan gmc buick located at 18225 eastex fwy, humble, tx 77338,(281) 973-3117, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that brake lamp bulbs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 92,000.

The back massager tail light has stopped working. After much research this seems to be a problem with the vehicle. To replace the light (one light), i was quoted $750.

Rear led brake lights no longer light up.

Rear passenger brake light stop working, vehicle is only 2 years old. We should not be having this issue so soon or at all, since led lights normally dont stop working. I also looked into fixing it and its gonna cost $700 dollars. This is ridiculous!

The passenger side taillight on the vehicle works intermittently. As of late is has been completely out and not functioning at all.

Driverside tail light intermittently stops working. Car milage is in the 40,000's. Diagnostic test at dealership where purchased confirms " driver rear tail light shorted out internally. Recommend replacing driver tail light. Recommend tail light assembly $899" . My sister has ayukon xl denali 2016 and has the similar issue but both of her tail lights intermittently stop working posing a huge safety concern. Driving in my area i see many newer yukon xl with the driver side tail light out. Lighting is not covered under extended warranty and cost to fix is extremely expensive, which could make the average driver put off the large expense. The tail light intermittantly stops working while the car is on, does not make a difference if the car is stationary or in motion. Service rep at dealership stated this problem is "common".

Both tail lights and brake lights stopped functioning within a week of each other. No bulb to replace as they are leds and entire housing has to be replaced.

Rear right brake light went out due to known defect. Metal piece broke that allows a connection between the led lights. Gmc should recall these lights since there are so many people having safety issues with them.

Both tail lights and break lights have stopped working.they are more than $700 each and gm knows about the problem as they have no lights available, they are on backorder for weeks.you can find a fix online by resoldering a metal piece that can temporarily fix the problem.

Tail lights suddenly stopped working. Called the dealer and was told $800. To replace. The dealership told me everyone is having this problem why is it not a recall? i researched the problem online and everybody is complaining about this issue.

Drivers' side brake light/tail light failure at 44k miles. Gmc refuses to fix under warranty (even with extended warranty purchased) despite thousands of people having this issue. Dealer quoted $1,000 to fix just the one side and admitted this is a known issue.i was stopped by another driver at a red light to inform me of the issue - he said he nearly hit me because of it and was scared.

My drivers side tail light is out! dealer charges $700 to repair!

Left rear brake light failed in april, 2019, dealer estimate to replace, $709.86, after some heated discussion, "warranty from gmc reduced the bill to $186.49,326 miles when light replaced.15 september 2019, mileage 54,290,the right brake light failed and was ordered by dealer, estimate to repair $709.86, part did not come in in 30 days, so i called gmc tech assist service (866-790-5600 and spoke with "chris" who opened a case #[xxx].this was passed to gmc's jessica at (866-790-5600 ext.[xxx].contacting her proved difficult and the part still did not show up.finally, on 18 november, 2019 the dealership called and said they had the part and installed it on 19 november, 2019, vehicle milage now 59,061.dealer charged $418.00. For the light and work showing a total cost of $709.86 and my repair cost "copay" being $418.00 with the gmc warranty supposedly picking up the difference.two more attempts to contact "[xxx]", 22 nov. @ 12:30 p.m., and 26 nov. @ 1425 got no response.finally contacted her on 02 dec. She could not or would not attempt to explain why there was such a huge difference in the price between the lights or the amount that the gmc warranty would cover.looking online, i note that have been many thousand of complaints about this from the 2015 through the current 2019 gmc denali and yukon model vehicles.should gmc not put out a safety recall for these failed brake lights?there is no indication in the driver's compartment that they are out.if not possible, are they covered under a "lemon law" or is this just another case of gmc has got you?[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The rear brake lights are not functioning consistently.the turn light and reverse light work but not the break lights.they are their own assembly and have to be replaced at a cost of $650/each at the dealership.online i found hundreds of others that had the same issue.

Gm issues a specials service campaign n182180270 tail lights inoperative, goes to 72000 miles the subject vehicle has 75000.both rear tail brake lights do not work and the third brake light.

Both led tail lights started flickering and failed within a month of each other. The mechanic said this was a known issue with these lights and that the circuit board failed.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the passenger's side rear brake light failed to illuminate. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to patriot buick gmc hyundai (2001 se washington blvd, bartlesville, ok 74006, (918) 347-4045) and the contact was informed that the vehicle failed to meet the mileage qualification for the satisfaction program. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 88,000.

The tailight/brake light keep going bad. It works half the time. I will check it and it's working then i hit a bump and people tell me it's not working. I hit another bump i look and it working. After replacing it once already has the exact same problem and they want another $1000 to fix it but the dealer told me gmc now has a better replacement for it. If they have a better built option then gmc should be made to change lights on all of them before some one gets killed.

Passenger side rear brake light working intermittently.taken to dealer twice for issue and was working when dealer checked it.90,000 miles on vehicle so well out of warranty.drove home from dealer... Stopped working on way home.started working next day.part is $600-800 for something that is clearly a manufacturer defect.i don't consider a circuit board that cracks in the same place on many same model vehicles (as per internet forums) to be "normal wear and tear".gm won't do anything about it.this is clearly a safety issue.brake light is a series of leds on a thinly printed circuit board.

My car has 60,000 mi on a 2016. The rear brake light went out on passenger sideand i am being told by dealer i have to replace the complete assembly- not just a bulb. Estimated cost is $800.00 for one side. In researching i have found this issue is not uncommon.this is ridiculous for what should be the cost of a bulb.

My car is barely 3 years old and has only 24,000 miles on it because i work from home. I specifically lease cars so i don't have to deal with issues. This cars rear passenger brake light no longer works! the service manager at the gmc dealership says they have to replace a great deal of these in cars not very old like mine. This is definitely a safety issue for brake lights to be going out on a 3 year old car! it has been out for months and i was just procrastinating because you must go to a dealership shop to get it replaced. You cannot get it at a part store yourself so my car probably only had 20,000-21,000 miles on it when this started.

The right rear tail light brake lights have gone completely out. These are one solid housing and have to be replaced to simply fix the brake light. Reverse and turn signal lights are ok. The housings cost 600-700 dollars each to replace which is a ludicrous amount to have to spend. In order to be within regulations for inspection, these have to be working. We feel there should be a recall as there are lots of complaints online about these housings.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. While the vehicle was parked, the contact's wife noticed a leak entering the cabin from the overhead antenna. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Also, while pulling into the driveway and depressing the brake pedal, the contact's neighbor informed him that all the rear brake lights (rear driver and passenger side brake lights and tailgate brake light) were not functioning. The vehicle was taken to north county buick gmc (located at 1515 auto park way n, escondido, ca 92029, (866) 852-7135) where it was diagnosed that the overhead antenna and all three brake lights needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the rear driver's side brake light and antenna were repaired, but the other brake lights were still not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failures. The failure mileage was 61,000.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. While driving various speeds or while the vehicle was stationary, the rear brake lights either intermittently illuminated or did not illuminate at all. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the tail light assembly board was loose. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,348.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that the passenger side tail light was inoperable. The contact took the vehicle to prince chevrolet of albany (2701 ledo road, albany, georgia 31707, 229-432-6271) twice for the tail light failure; however, the dealer stated that the replacement led light was not available to correct the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Very strong smell of a gas leak on the driver side of the vehicle. No matter the fuel level, running or stopped for hours.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, the vehicle shuddered while the transmission slipped from first to second gear. The vehicle was taken to dellen chevy buick gmc (2527 w main st, greenfield, in 46140) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission temperature sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred 3 times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.*dt

I have had issues with the transmission and power of the car for over two years. I have contacted gmc and have followed everything that gmc have requested for me to do with a vehicle. I have taken the car to four different dealerships, have had everything done with it from flushing it three to four times and have had torque converter replaced the control valve body replace. Recall for the brake pedal was also done. After everything the car is in worst condition at the moment.

Vehicle shudders when shifting in lower gears. Possible torque converter or other transmission problem.

Transmission has not shifted correctly. Shuddering occurs or shifts are not smooth

We were onour way back from pittsburg, pa to maryland and the transmission started slipping when we stopped in kent island at chick fil a.the vehicle stopped moving completely and would not move forward as we were turning into the drive thru.we had to have the vehicle towed to a gmc dealership in easton, md.upon their evaluation of the vehicle, we were told that the torque converter came apart and damaged the transmission.when i asked how and why the torque converter came apart, they stated that they would have to take the entire engine apart to figure that out.we were told by the gmc dealership that our 2016 gmc yukon xl now needed a new transmission.we purchased this vehicle in december 2015 (brand new).because our power train warranty expired at 60,000 miles, it was not covered.the new transmission costs us $5300+.we were shocked that this took place, as this was purchased new and we have kept up on all the maintenance.it is very disturbing to have purchased a new transmission for a vehicle that is only 4 years old. In doing some research, this seems to be an ongoing issue for gmc.a recall should be issued and a refund should be issued to those who have paid out of pocket for this expense. I do thank the gmc dealership in easton, md for quickly repairing our vehicle, especially since we had an upcoming trip.ladonna was wonderful and i commend her and the entire dealership for handling things swiftly.

On 11/13/15, "service 4wd system" message appeared on the screen rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive.this issue occurred less than a week after purchase (297 miles on the odometer at the time that the issue occurred).specific issue: when the transfer case was set to "auto" it automatically switched to the "4wdlo" setting, which caused the vehicle to lock-up specifically when turning or in reverse gear.i had the vehicle towed to dealer and was told that the transfer case control module software needed to be updated / reflashed and that the encoder motor /actuator needed to be replaced.the dealer contacted gm and was notified that the encoder motor / actuator was on national backorder.the dealer received and installed the part on 12/8/15 (25 days after the issue occurred).i formally submitted a complaint to gm on 11/20/15 (ref # 8-1674527570) so they are aware of the issue.

Excessive vibration/buffeting drone issues (at all speeds of the vehicle) have caused severe health issues and safety hazards from driving the vehicle. Within the first 8,000 miles of owning the car, the car has now been in service for 40 days as gm tries and remedy the problem, but there does not appear to be a fix. So far, diagnostic tests indicated that there was a faulty bearing in the rear differential that led to significant abnormal wear throughout the differential and the differential needed to be rebuilt. When rebuilding, they discovered that the disassembled differential had heavily scored bearings and metal shaving throughout every bearing. Ring gear and pinion had irregular wear causing a drone in the vehicle. Race surfaces wear ground and scarred bad.the rebuilt differential did not fix the issue and now after having four new tires and road balancing, the problems didn't diminish but were exacerbated. After rebuilding the differential again, gm has now determined that the rear axle may need to be replaced and engineers are looking into the problem further. The steering wheel shakes and the car has a terrible vibration that worsens every time gm attempts to service the vehicle. This seems to be a well-documented problem that gm has avoided fixing. We advise other consumers to be aware of the serious safety problems related to the poor manufacturing of the vehicle and inability of gm to remedy the problem.

Vehicle began hesitating during acceleration.problem occurred intermittently at first but now occurs each time the vehicle is driven. Check engine light comes on occasionally. This jerking causes safety issues when trying to increase speed. Many complaints are on line from other owners with same issue

Instructed gmc dealer to perform 90,000 mile transmission maintenance (as per gmc manual: "change automatic transmission fluid, if equipped. If filter is serviceable, change filter").gmc dealer decided to perform transmission flush instead which does not include a filter change.within short period of time, transmission started to shudder when in 3rd and 4th gear.dealer insists this has nothing to do with service they performed and told me there is a known problem with the torque converters.dealer stated on the phone "we do 2 or 3 of these a week... Often on vehicles with only 20,000 miles".a quick search on the web for gm 6l80 transmission problems will show all of the owners with similar torque converter issues.dealer gave rough estimate of $1700 to replace torque converter.

Transmission shuddering and hard, clunky shifting

I leased a 2016 yukon denali xl on 9/15/15.it has two major problems.1. Buffeting/pressure noise - a noise as if a window is cracked, except it's not cracked.this occurs at speeds from 24mph and up and causes ears to pop and is noticeable to virtually every passenger i have had.2. Whole-truck vibration - occurs between 70-80mph in entire vehicle.wheel replacements, tire replacements, road-force balancing, driveshaft replacement, driveshaft "balancing", etc....nothing has fixed it.i have driven 13 2016 yukon, yukon xl, tahoe and suburbans.every single one has the buffeting issues.all but one has the vibration issues. Gm has issued a pi stating that the roof bows may have come disconnected and they need to be reattached.the issue here is that reattaching them doesn't fix the buffeting issue.i have a date-stamped log of every dealer visit, conversation, email, etc. And am glad to share it.these issues are ridiculous to occur in any car much less a 75k flagship car that pulls in 3-7k in profit for gm/dealers per vehicle.

The transmission went out,the engine is making a noise and a service center said lots of gm's vehicles are having the same problem the power steering system also stop working and i have to replace it

Led brake lights don't work car shakes and transmission shudders while driving 35-45mph

Brakes get very hard to push and do not work well when going slow speeds or backing up. Unable to even fix as i have been told the part is on national back order! so i'm stuck trying not to crash with faulty vacuum brake part! left rear seat motor works, but small plastic part broke so seat worn move and is stuck in one position.

Driving at low speeds (5 mph or below) the brakes failed to engage.the brake pedal was stiff and offered little press.pressing the pedal extremely hard brought the vehicle to a stop. This happened multiple times in a single day, almost causing an accident in traffic and did cause me to bump into our garage wall.when a i took the vehicle in to be serviced, the vacuum pump had to be replaced.our vehicle as 39,800 miles.this appears to be a known defect:technical bulletin pit5361b existsa class action lawsuit has recently been filed (https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2018/gm-brake-vacuum-pump-failures-lawsuit.shtml)a quick internet search reveals multiple similar issues.cost to repair is over $900 at gmc dealer.

On 9/25/18 while applying brakes the brake pedal became extremely hard to press and very hard to stop the vehicle. Thank god it was in my driveway this occurred. My significant other came home from work on 9/27/18 and changed pads, lubed caliper sliders, and verified proper caliper operation. Spent 9/26/18 talking with the dealer and checking recalls. All these repairs were suggested by the local dealer, by them of course. Upon test drive after new pads were installed, the same issue happened. Driving forward the brakes operate as they should or at least feel normal.

I had the recall (n192268490) applied to my yukon on 12 sep. I only experienced the problem described in the recall 2x prior to the recall. Since the recall i have had multiple incidents much worse than than the original problem. Tonight the brakes were so bad i over shot my parking spot and drove into some bushes. If a hard structure was there i would have damaged the car. This problem is repeatable. No warning lights come on but the "grade breaking on" light will come on. The break pedal was very soft and shuttered. I emphasize this is new since the recall was implemented.

A car braked in front of me going around 40 miles per hour.i was unable to stop in time and rearended them.this car is part of the gm recall for brakes

2016 gmc yukon xl c1500 sle. Consumer writes in regard to safety recall notice n192268490 issues with power brake assist. *as

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. While driving approximately 30 mph, the brakes malfunctioned and caused the vehicle to crash into the rear of another vehicle. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. Prior to the crash, the brake vacuum pump was replaced, but the brakes did not function properly. The vehicle was later serviced at mick donald's gmc(5155 state st, saginaw, mi) per nhtsa campaign number: 19v645000(service brakes) in which the electronic brake control module was reprogrammed. Afterwards, the brakes operated normally. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.

When starting and stopping (depressing the brake pedal multiple times) such as at a left turn (waiting for traffic) or a drive-thru window, the brakes stop working and the car rolls forward even when the brake is depressed.if you press really hard it will usually stop- but it definitely rolls forward when you are trying to stop.the dealership says that a vacuum pump is faulty but this could result in an accident as i almost rolled into oncoming traffic while waiting in line to turn left at a "left turn yield on green light".

Over the last several years, we have been hearing this clicking sound in our 2016 gmc yukon xl.additionally, we had experienced occasional times where the vehicles brakes would not function properly mostly in slower speed situations.in the last several weeks, the short range braking was hindered again as the break would 'stick' and not slow the car.several close instances of hitting either another car or family member. I then looked up on nhtsa if any recalls, and i noticed a recall which described exactly what we had been experiencing.we took the vehicle into the dealership yesterday and they told my wife it was fixed and sent her on her way to pick up my 5 children from school. A few hours later, the car just wouldn't break and my wife called me to actually go to the location on my child's practice so i could drive it home as she didn't trust the vehicle any longer.i took the vehicle back to the dealer the next day.upon their inspection, they said the vacuum pump was faulty and would cost $500 to fix.then i started to investigate further, and to my surprise, there appears to be a long standing issue with 2014-16 gm vehicles that have had faulty vacuum pumps.however, these haven't been recalled yet. The review also led me to the conclusion that the clicking sound we would hear appears to be related to this faulty part.unfortunately for me, my miles are beyond the warranty period but this has been a persistent issue for a long time.basically, it feels as if my family's safety was secondary while this known issue with the vacuum pump remained 'silent'.we bought this vehicle for the safety, dependability, and planned to use it up to 200,000+ miles. I am disappointed that a safety issue like the brakes would effectively be undisclosed to me as a car owner.i am hopeful gm will do all that is necessary to rectify our discomfort and lack of trust.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. On several occasions, when the brake pedal was depressed at low speeds, the brakes failed to slow down the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to southern pines chevrolet buick gmc (10722 us-15, southern pines, nc 28387, (910) 692-2002) where it was diagnosed that the brake lines and vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

The vehicle has experienced at slow speed or backing a solid/stuck brake pedal that wouldn't move. The pedal was basically stuck, not moving at all. This occurred coming to a stop at like an intersection or as stated backing out of a parking spot. It felt as if the truck wouldn't stop and no matter how hard the pedal was pushed it wouldn't move for a few seconds.

Attempted to slow down by stepping on brakes but the pedal was extremely stiff and there was no stopping action. Had to almost stand on the brake pedal with all my force to get the vehicle to stop before almost hitting the vehicle in front. We had the vehicle towed to a dealer and they said the brake booster pump had failed and needed replacement

Break pedal gets hard at the time trade to stop the vehicle

Beginning around 70k miles, my wife complained of brakes not working at low speed in parking lots, especially in reverse, with very hard pedal, occasional occurring.while i was driving, occurred multiple times at gas station at very low speed during stop over on a long road trip at 80k miles.upon taking to gm dealership for another issue, gm service technician verified the concern.vacuum pump replaced on 12/14/18.few miles since but test driving has not had another occurrence.vehicle failure confirmation and repair done at joe bowman chevrolet in harrisonburg, va.

*dt

My 2016 gmc yukon xl recently began having a hard brake pedal when reversing out of parking spots, or when rolling downhill. A couple of times, when rolling forward downhill it malfunctioned causing me to run into a ditch. . the hard brake pedal had caused me to not be able to stop the vehicle several times.it would roll backwards (or forwards) until i shifted it in to gear or gave it gas. A few times i almost hit vehicles and pedestrians in my son's school carpool lane. There is no warning. No check engine light. Just the horrible rock hard brake pedal which turns out to be a faulty vacuum pump per napa jimmy vasser chevrolet, that has now cost me $711.00 because it is not covered under warranty. My car has 54,000 miles on it. This is unacceptable.

Faulty break lights.the led circuit is faulty and cracks which requires the entire light assembly to be replaced.

The right rear brake light quit working.will come on when pushed against car.dealer said it was electrical in the brake light unit.

The service brake assist message appears and the braking at slow speeds is very unresponsive.to stop you must fully press the brake and the brakes seem not to grab. Takes longer distance to stop. This is very intermittent, one time they work and the next time you can't stop unless you put your foot through the floor on the brake.

One brake light was intermittent, now both won't work at all.doing an internet search, many, many people complain about this problem.the bulb cannot be replaced. Dealers charge $500+ for each tail light assembly and will not take responsibility.this is dangerous for brake lights to not work.

Low speed brake failure:at low speeds the brake pedal became firm and the vehicle did not stop in an appropriate time.this led to two near accidents.both times the vehicle was in a line of cars that was stop and go picking up children at after school.serious concern that the vehicle will not stop and injure children trying to load or unload.the problem appears to occur only at low speeds only.

Both brake lights have started to fail from a faulty circuit in the led light circuit

Led brake lights failed and cannot be repaired.i cannot replace bulbs either. Gmc wants $600+ to replace the light with one that has risk of failure, same as the original!no guarantee!

Brakes do not work at low speeds. Gmc told me that the parts had been bought back by gm and there was no way to fix it 8 months ago and now they state there is a special warranty added except my mileage is over the warranty! brakes either are hard as a brick to push or/and don't work at all. I was told to rev the engine when going slow or backing up in order to make the brakes function properly. That was the advice for a mother of 4 children. Ac is also blowing hot air.

Vehicle was under recall and service was completed at gm dealer mid october.following recall for brake vacum pump and new computer program, i lost my brakes on several occasions at slow speeds in reverse and forward.vehicle was returned to dealer and after two days of testing vehicle would not duplicate issue or provide a code.dealer returned vehicle.that day 11/05/2019 brake failure occured on two seperate occasions backing out of driveway on grade. Upon contact with dealer advised they would not do anything further until a code was provided.if i wished to replace the ebc vacum pump it would be out of pocket.vehicle has been driven daily until another appointment can be made. On 11/13/2019 brake failure occured again on two occasions.when failure occurs pedal goes to the floor and what sounds like abs noise is active with a pulsation in the pedal.vehicle will not stop and have to use e-brake to come to a complete stop as braking distance is dramaticly reduced.a follow-up appoint will be made with gm dealer again.

Power steering loses power temporarily, power goes off and come back on when i'm coming to a stop and making a slow turn

The transmission went out,the engine is making a noise and a service center said lots of gm's vehicles are having the same problem the power steering system also stop working and i have to replace it

Vehicle shakes/vibrates above 35 mph. When vehicle accelerates above 35 mph the the steering will vibrate with a feeling that the suspension is shimmying/shuddering rapidly. This is especially bad on an incline from a stopped position. As the vehicle accelerates up the incline, when approximately 35 mph is attained, the entire vehicle will steadily shudder/vibrate. Traveling at highway speeds the vehicle will randomly vibrate in the front end and in the steering wheel. This occurs with brand new tires that have been balanced and re-balanced to confirm it is not tire related.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. While the contact's wife was driving 65 mph, water leaked from the headliner console. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

High frequency antenna leaking water. This is preventing the vehicle's onstar system from accurately determining the vehicle's location; it has disabled vehicle's compass, navigation, and xm radio systems; the red onstar led indicator has turned on ; and water is leaking into the interior passenger compartment.a recall was issued for the 2015 yukon xl for this same exact problem. However, i am having the same exact problem with my 2016 model. I have attached the recall issued for the 2015 models.

The contact called on behalf of his client who owns a 2016 gmc yukon. The contact stated while the owner was driving 30 mph, the vehicle became unstable and began bouncing. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to drive to his independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with needing the suspension struts to be replaced. The contact called the local dealer and was informed the parts were not available. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The contact also called champion chevrolet (800 kietzke ln, reno, nv 89502: (775) 786-3111) and made them aware of the failure and was informed that the parts were not available. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,116.

2016 gmc yukon denali xl 40k mint condition bounces vigorously at slow speeds and even more so at highway speeds. It is to a point the ride is unbearable and potentiallydown right dangerous. I have read countless complaints of this same issue and i as well as many others are wondering why is there has not been a recall issued on the shock and struts on these vehicles .(2015-2016)

The contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon xl. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle violently vibrated without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician replaced the wheels, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The contact was informed that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,000.

I asked my mechanic to check the rough ride on my truck when he serviced the vehicle.he said the front struts were locking up and i should take it to my dealer.my dealer said they were locked up and needed to be replaced.the dealer will replace the struts for approx. $2000.they say they haven't had problems with them but they have them in stock and they offer a lifetime warranty.the truck has virtually no front suspension and when checking different blogs on line there appear to be a lot of problems with the struts locking up.when driving down the road, the ride is as if there was no suspension.truck has 52,000 miles and i've never replaced shocks (or struts) with that kind of mileage. It seems to get worse by the day.i think gm has a definite problem with the struts and i think it's dangerous without suspension movement.

Air conditioning system constantly blows out hot air. Air condition was recharged and still has negative results.

My driver side led taillight went out. You can not just change a bulb or the led strip. It requires the whole assembly be replaced. My vehicle is 2 years old. It should not gone out after 2 years, let alone it being an led which is supppse to last much much longer than that. I was told while driving, it would go on them off. It was dusk and i was driving on a surface street with lots of traffic. That is not safe. I have multiple friends and family members who have also had this problem. The internet threads have many more complaints as well.

The front collision avoidance system does not work.i can set a 1-3 bar alert on the steering wheel, however in the 3 months i've owned the car and trying different maneuvers at different speeds, i don't get a an audible nor visual red light warning that i've experienced on a newer chevy impala i drive.the dash info center below the gauges will change from a green semi-circular 3 bar system to a yellow if i come within the 3 car lengths set of another vehicle while driving.i've researched this issue using google and quite a few people say different gmc models with this system all behave differently.everyone uses the you tube video by gm as the example of how it is supposed to work.note, my windshield next to the rearview mirror is clean, so the sensors are not impeded.to me, setting the system to the maximum forward distance to avoid a collision gives you a false sense of security that could easily lead to an accident.the system does not work as designed.

Water leaked into the vehicle's roof mounted antenna. This condition prevented the vehicle's onstar system from accurately determining the vehicle's location; disabled the vehicle's compass, navigation, and xm radio systems; illuminated the vehicle's red onstar indicator; and allowed water into the interior driver compartment. This condition occurred in both the stationary and in motion states.gm issued product bulletin # 15155 for 2015 model year for the same issue, but did not correct for 2016 model year. Issue related to replacement of part # 23258460. This part was redesigned for 2017 model year to eliminate the design defect by relocating the moisture weep hole on the base gasket from the rear to the front to accommodate the roof slope.

Vibrationat speeds over 72 mphbecomes worse while going up grade while accelerating ..has been in shop many times new tires, balanced multiple times, along with suspension parts and drive train parts.still not fixedsuv has 22 inch rims.

We have had our 2016 yukon xl for almost 2 years. Last year we started experiencing episodes where the vehicle will shift down into reduced power mode with p0090 and p0091 as the fault codes. We have been working with the dealer, but once the vehicle has been turned off for about 20 minutes or so it clears and leaves no trace of an issue. This is extremely dangerous and recently shifted into reduced power leaving us only able to drive 35 miles per hour. We were on the highway in maryland with cars flying around us at ~80 miles per hour. We had all of our children in the car and were in the far left lane. The reduced power made it nearly impossible to get to the right shoulder safely. I have a friend with a new gmc sierra that has the same issue. He dropped it off at his dealer for 3 weeks and returned it finding any issues. This is very dangerous and needs to be addressed.all it will take is someone dying to turn it into a class action lawsuit.
