There has been no incident as yet involving the vehicle. However, for eight years the vehicle has been located in a geographical location ofhigh humidity and temps which is a factor of instability with the takata airbags. We have tried, unsuccessfully, to get the airbags replaced by our local gm dealership.we are filing this complaint in the hope of getting nhtsa to order gm to do the responsible act of replacing airbags in affected vehicles before any more injuries happen.
Cracking dashboard above the instrument cluster and around the passenger airbag. It's cracked in a way that of the airbag deploys the plastic dash will deploy with it and it could impale someone

I was driving with my vehicle in auto 4wd, because we had icy roads. My vehicles rear drive slipped on some ice and then i got a message indicating my stabilizer system was needing work, then the electrical system (instrumentation dash) started to flash on and off. I pulled off the road and turned off my vehicle and then tried to restart it and it would not start. I tried a 2nd time and it started, put it in gear and started back out on the road. My electrical system started to go crazy all of the sudden, all the lights started to flash, my power doors started to lock and unlocksimultaneously, the engine started to accelerate its rpm's, and down/up shifting my gears, my dash board instruments started flashing, heating and air conditioning fan was speeding up and slowing down, then turning on and off.i thought my vehicle was possessed by a demon really putting a scare in me. I was scared that it was going to accelerate and i was not in control at all, so i immediately pulled off the road and turned the vehicle off. It would not restart once again, on my 3rd attempt it started. I put it in gear and it went good. I think the instrumentation flashed maybe one or two times, but overall it was driving, thank god, because is was cold out and i was in a rural area. Four days later i drove my vehicle to work, went out to take it to lunch and it would not start, nothing would work, completely dead. I had it towed to shottenkirk chevrolet in quincy, il, which is where it is awaiting the diagnostic report. 1/16/2020. I cannot tell you enough, the whole ordeal scared the living daylights out of me.
While driving down the hwy on approximately 04/08/2020 i heard a loud pop and then a ticking sound.i pulled off the side of the road to look at the motor to find that 4 of my exhaust manifoldbolts were broken off.both of the front and rear bolts on both manifolds were missing and the front passenger side exhaust port was leaking.after taking it to a shop to be looked at, the mechanic stated that this is a common problem with gm v8 engines and has been for years.this issue could cause an accident if someone gets out of their vehicle on the side of the road and they or another operator isn't paying attention, someone could get run over.i don't have any pictures as my suv is in the shop being repaired.
Transmission defective @60,000 mile mark with initial sensation of getting bumped from behind when coming to a stop that the dealership routinely stated, "oh that's the way they allure".dashboard disintegrating before my eyes with multiple plastic shards that will become deadly projectiles if ever in accident and who knows how bad it will get if air bags deploy.
Vehicle stopped for traffic light on a city street intersection, would not progress.had to be towed.transmission went out & were told that this model, year and engine had a faulty transmission computer which led to internal pump failure, affecting performance of torque converter.
As i was driving i noticed in the reflection of my windshield a crack in the dashboard.upon further inspection i saw that there was a crack that ran from the vent on the dashboard up toward the steering wheel.this is clearly a manufacturing defect as this vehicle is only three years old, good condition, with 31000 miles on it.it is my concern that this crack as others unless fixed will continue to spread and become a larger safety concern for me and my family.
The vehicle's dashboard near the passenger airbag cracked and then created a hole with no physical damage to it being done.there have been several other reports of this happening to similar vehicles by other customers.this is especially dangerous as it leaves sharp angles and could seriously injure a passenger if the airbag should deploy.there is a serious flaw in the dashboard that warrants immediate fixes by gmc.
The dash of my yukon xl 2011 is cracking. This is a known problem and gmc is not doing anything about it. Also, the buttons on the a/c are wearing off. I think for what we pay for the vehicles we should have better quality. I have 2 sisters that also drive the same vehicle and both of their dashes are cracked also. Gmc wants us to pay to have them replaced. This needs to be a recall.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc yukon xl. The contact noticed that the dashboard was cracked in front of the steering column. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000. Updated 08/30/16*ljthe consumer stated there was a triangular crack going through the dash. The consumer was informed it was a design flaw, or stress point and it would cost @ 1200 to fix. Updated 10/26/16.
At about 3 years of age the dashboard began to crack.it meandered through the dashboard and soon will be effectively splitting the dashboard in half with a thorough crack.the car is now 5 years old.

2 cracks in dashboard that coincide with so many of the complaints gm has and continues to receive.one is at the top left corner of the airbag dash cap and the 2nd is over the instrument panel/gauges hump of the dash.
Dash cracked over instrument panel an above air bag...truck only has 54000 miles an has been well taken care of...these are not small cracks...runs from defrost vent to almost top of dash in 2 places...
I purchased a 2011 gmc yukon xl in january 2011. In august 2014 (57545 miles), the dash began to split above the steering wheel and near the front passenger's air bag. A local gmc dealer replaced the dash at a deductible charge from me of $150. In april of 2016 (87116 miles) the installed replacementdash has split near the front passenger's airbag. The same dealer has said they will replace the second dash at a 30% discount, costing me $600. It is plain to me that gm is replacing faulty dashes with dashes made from the same faulty material , plus endangering gm owners with possibly malfunctioning airbags.
" dashboard cracked" on april 6th i got into my car and saw that there was a huge crack in my dashboard right above the steering wheel. I have reached out to gm about this problem and they are unwilling to fix the problem even though my car is under gm certified bumper to bumper warranty. I am afraid that if there is a car accident then parts of this dashboard that is cracked will come off and injury whoever is in the car.
Dash board cracking above instrument panel and spreading across to airbag.came out about a month ago and found a crack in the dash.it has now spread across the dash toward the airbag.
Dash is cracking on driver's side instrument panel and passenger side airbag top left corner.
On the interstate driving at night had the sunroof explode. Nothing hit the car. Just a very loud explosion and heard glass shatter over the top of vehicle.
Dash was making a terrible squeaking noise and then one day it stopped. Checked the dash over to find 2 cracks, one by the passnager side air bag and another on the drive side above the instrument panel. I contacted gm since we were outside the warranty and they pretty much said suck it up not our problem. How has this not been recalled or addressed with so many complaints???!!!

Crack in dashboard at airbag on passenger side of vehicle. Vehicle was stationary. It is my belief that crack was caused by faulty dashboard.

My gmc yulon has two cracks on the top part of the dash. Have complained to gmc and they are aware that is a defect and will not step up to the plate
