Takata recall:how is it possible that a 2016 airbag recall is still being disputed in 2019? honda replaced my airbags in my accord in 2017.why hasn't nhtsa denied gmc's request and forced them to replace these airbags?please do the right thing and get these airbags replaced!!!

We were notified, as we were getting service done on our vehicle, that there was an airbag recall on the passenger side.we were never informed about any impending recall.we then contacted our dealer, and we were told that as of may 2016, gmc did not yet have a solution to the problem.no further word on any corrective action to date.

Dealership is refusing to repair the recall air bag parts. They say they don't have them to do the repair.

I have an issue with my yukon 2008 dashboard, it is cracked on the passenger side where the airbag is located as well as today a big crack appeared over the driver side where the instrument panel hump is located on the left side. I am worried that the safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants.i keep my yukon very clean and well maintained and it is always stored in my garage and kept in meticulous condition and looks and smells new and use rigorously a windshield sun guard to protect my steering wheel and dashboard .i purchased this vehicle back in 2008 and believe it was used by the dealership because it had miles on it. I have seen several posts regarding this manufacturing issue and many people are complaining of the poor manufacturing materials used on the dashboard that makes them all crack on the same exact area i am speaking as to have happened on mine. The cost to replace is approximately 800.00 which includes parts and labor. This shouldn't be the responsibility of the customer but of the manufacturer as this is a defective part.this is ridiculous to have paid so much for a supposed quality vehicle and i was never expecting thishappening and think this is unacceptable; and seeing by so many comments on the same issue that it should be a recall item because it happens so often in the same exact areas due to the safety during a collision causing the airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks causing the plastic to project causing possible injury to the occupants.

Takata air bags still not replaced- on recall list since 5/2016.

We have owned this vehicle for 4 months. There is a crack beginning over the instrument panel on the drivers side (the beginnings are there as well as being able to see the crack under the surface of the dashboard) and on the dashboard into the airbag compartment on the passenger side.the vehicle was not moving when we noticed the cracks. We went to crank the vehicle one morning and noticed them.

There was a recall in 2016 for my vehicle's air bags and the local dealer service dept. Told me there is no remedy yet. I live in one of the hottest and humid parts of the us which is known to cause the airbags to degrade.i am concerned for my safety knowing this problem is unaddressed by the manufacturer.

Takata recall.i am unable to get the airbags replaced by gmc. There are no parts according to the gmc dealer that i called today 10-26-17.i do not know how to proceed.it is hard to believe these airbags cannot be replaced.

Dashboard warning of: "service airbag" came on several weeks ago. Got a notice from tk holdfings; ref, takata airbag inflators. Checked local dealer for recall info. And found no help. Was told a "fix" was not available. So, why the notification if i cant get my truck repaired under a recall? in the meantime, i've got a warning light on my dash, reminding me that something is wrong with the airbag system. I refuse to pay to have it investigated and repaired, when it has already been recognized as being faulty. What's going on here? does my truck get repaired or not?

Dashboard is cracked up to/including thepassenger side dashboard-mounted airbag, which has the potential to cause injury from flying shrapnel if airbag deployment occurs.

We have been waiting over 3 years for this matter to be put in to an action plan. We drive the noted 2008 yukon denali daily to and from work as well as take our passengers to school. We are the original owners of the vehicle and wish to request that the air bag noted be scheduled for replacement. We are not comfortable with the noted issues that it may cause and feel that we have been pput in harms way via the knowledge and decison to replace the defective air bag. Please advise when we will be able to receive the new product supply and installation. Tk holdings inc. ('takata') has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in the passenger-side frontal airbag inflators installed as original equipment in certain 2007 to 2014 model year cadillac escalade, escalade esv, and escalade ext vehicles; certain chevrolet avalanche, silverado 1500, silverado 2500/3500, suburban, and tahoe vehicles; and certain gmc sierra 1500, sierra 2500/3500, yukon, and yukon xl vehicles. The determination was made that the propellant in these inflators may degrade after long-term exposure to high humidity and temperature cycling, which could cause the inflator to rupture during a deployment.safety riskan inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior at high speed, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants.

There has been an outstanding recall to replace the airbag(s) in this vehicle.understanding that it is a widespread recall that affects many vehicles but what is concerning is that the recall states that it is most affected by "long term exposure in hot and humid regions" which this vehicle has always been in florida. I periodically check with the dealer and they always advise that there's no update.i would think it should be handled more expeditiously due to this vehicle qualifying to the exact conditions of the recall notice and that this vehicle is now twelve years old all which has been in florida (a hot and humid region).please advise...thanks in advance,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I received my first notice about the taaka airbag recall in 2018 and gm still does not have a fix for the airbags. Very untimely manner for repairs, when driving daily.

Takata recall incomplete - no parts available

The vehicle has had multiple failures of door locking mechanisms.most recent failure has affected the rear passenger doors which are not keyed from the outside, so only way to unlock is to crawl over seats to unlock.this is a significant safety concern since we have had small children in the rear of the vehicle that can not exit their seats on their own.this could increase the change of bodily injury in an accident and result in extra time needed to extricate people from the vehicle.this appears to be a common problem with this model vehicle and other gm vehicles with the same body style.the dealership has fixed one of the actuators and indicated that they have seen multiple failures, which means gm is well aware of the problem and should issue a recall to fix these clearly defective door locking mechanisms.

2008 gmc yukon xl- 5 door lock actuator failures.all four door locks have failed and now the rear passenger lock actuator has failed for the second time.this is a serious safety issue as you either have to drive with the door unlocked or if locked you risknot being able to get a child out quickly if necessary.i have contacted gm and they referred the issue to my local rep who has denied covering the part, according to my dealer.many cases of this same failure can be found online and in my case, 5 failures of the same part.i would say this indicates a problem.why won't gm acknowledge this and offer to fix it?will it takes tragedy like a child not being able to be removed in an emergency?

We have owned this vehicle since brand new. Three of the door lock actuators from three different doors were defective and had to be replaced at different times during the years of ownership. First the front driver's door, then the front passenger door and finally and recently the rear passenger side door. With the front doors, they didn't always open or lock with the remote control or using the electronic controls causing safety and security problems. The rear passenger door is the same where our younger daughter sits and didn't always lock or unlock causing obvious safety and security concerns. The only way to ensure it locks was to manually lockmor unlock the doors. I am extremely disappointed that i have replaced three of four door lock actuators in the four years we have owned this vehicle. Never before have i owned a vehicle with such an obvious defect that hasn't been covered beyond the warranty when it is a safety problem. My last repair bill was over $160.00. I believe the others occurred during the warranty so those were covered. I am anticipating the last door lock actuator will fail some day, so,far it is working.

November 13, i went out to start my 2008 yukon and the lights, door locks, and cd player began to flicker and then shut off.the gauges also began to flicker erratically, then the car would not start.later in the afternoon, my husband and i pushed the car out of the garage and when the yukon went over the lip of the garage into the driveway, the bump caused all the lights, radio, and back dloor latch to come on or begin working.this occurred several other times over several weeks and included the rear door not working or the powerlocks not working with the remote.we took it to driver's automotive in the woodlands, texas, and had them run a diagnostic on the vehicle.the auto repairman checked the battery and cables and said nothing shows up in the diagnostic but eventually they did replace the cbm.we paid $ 718.00 to replace the cbm, trusting that was the problem.the vehicle started up fine forseveral weeks after that but since december 21, the yukon has duplicated the erratic light flickering, radio and ignition not working, the rear door not opening (using the car remote as well as the power button on front console inside vehicle).in addition, the doors won't lock and the gauges flicker uncontrollably and the vehicle won't start.we are very concerned.a diagnostic says nothing is wrong but with the electrical issues, i am fearful of what could happen.

I have issues with all four door locks not working, the power seats work sometimes, and my radio / nv system goes on and off.

Door lock mechanism multiple fails and have found this is widespread among these vehicles. Find it dangerous as you cannot access the interior in case of emergency especially with children.

Driver door will not lock or unlock with the key fob or the door lock/unlock button on the door.this creates a safety concern.

The hatch will not stay open when the temperature goes down into the 50's it shuts on my head and won't stop. It is stationary when i am loading or unloading the back hatch.

Vehicle unexpectedly caught fire in the front passengers side. The vehicle had been parked for several hours at the time of the fire. Fire investigators believe the fire was electrical and paid substantial attention to the front passengers side dash area on both the inboard and engine compartment sides of the dash. This is consistent with past reports of fires starting due to the heated washer fluid system which this vehicle had. There was no active recalls on this car.

Have never been contacted when the parts were availble or when the vehicle coould be brought in for the recall corrections

The contact owns a 2008 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that the vehicle would only accelerate to 10 t0 15 mph. In addition, the stabilitrac, engine control module, and engine power reduced indicators illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle onto the road shoulder. The vehicle was taken to southern green brier gmc (1300 south military highway, chesapeake, va 23320, 757-424-2418). The deaeler performed a diagnostic test that located failure codes p2122, p2138, and p2128. The dealer replaced the battery twice and the battery cables were replaced several times; however, the failure was not corrected. The contact also stated that the vehicle was taken to four unknown dealers who stated that the failure was due to an electrical failure. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: [xxx]. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. My 2008 yukon xl is giving several error messages. Traction control off, service stabilitrac, check engine light remains on even after i've replaced the throttle position sensor, coil pack, full tune up nothing seems to fix the issue and i see that i'm not the only one experiencing this issue.any insight on resolving this problem would be gladly appreciated it is also using more oil than usual.

5.3 severe oil consumption. After deactivating the fuel management system it did slow the consumption but did not eleminate problem. No oil leaks on engine. Mechanic said it's burning it. So how is the eco friendly?i've owed this vehicle since 150k now i'm about 180k

While using remote start the vehicle makes loud noise and shuts off engine.in addition there is a rattling noise heard in the engine.manufacturer has attempted to fix problem but states there are dozens of vehicles that were made incorrectly and there is no way for them to fix this issue.

I have a 2008 gmc yukon xl - i have had the drivers door and the back door on the drivers side's lock fixed while under warranty, now the passenger side front and back door locks are not working.the only way to unlock these doors is to crawl into the vehicle and manually lock and unlock them.

My 2008 gmc yukon xl has transmission problems. Two separate dealerships have replaced the transmission seals twice.the car kicks back upon acceleration quite frequently, at all speeds.three weeks ago, i was merging onto the freeway at about 45 mph and the car accelerated only without kicking into gear, causing another car to almost hit me. After about 15 seconds the gear finally kicked in really hard throwing my son and myself forward. It was very scary.i had the second dealership come and flat bed tow the car in out of fear of driving the vehicle.i received notification that the seals were lose and tighten and nothing else was wrong.one week later i am having the same issue. The vehicle is kicking back and sometimes does stops shifting into gear as i am trying to accel, the vehicle moves then it stops being able to continue.i am calling the dealership again today. I am wondering if there have been any other issues with this vehicles year, make and model.what should i do continue to try to resolve the problem with the car and take a chance of having something bad happening to myself and three children. This is really becoming scary and quite bothersome. I purchased this car for its safety and size and have to keep downsizing while this is being ineffectively repaired. What should i do?

When i engage the brakes to slow down they grab, all the time on any street.

Intermittent power steering loss, low speeds.the steering rack was recently replaced.i see online that there is an electric panel that might cause this. Will bring back to local shop tomorrow.not sure how that is tested vs pump/line or the new rack defective

Dash board crack at left corner of airbag, can result in shrapnel or impede airbag deployment.also a crack on the dash board at the left corner of the instrument panel happened at the same time.

Chrome over plastic is coming off or peeling and this problem resulted in several people having their fingers cut while opening the door. The chrome covering where it has peeled is like a razor blade when pressure is applied to unlatch the door.

Driver door will not lock or unlock with the key fob or the door lock/unlock button on the door.this creates a safety concern.

My driver side back glass (quarter panel long glass) spontaneously exploded this morning with my young child in her car seat. No one was nearby, the car was in park. Nothing caused the glass to break it just randomly occurred.

Interior door handles - chrome plating is peeling away from plastic underneath on the front passenger handle. This peeling chrome cuts flesh. It has been recalled on 'some' 2007 models, however, since this is causing injury i believe it should be recalled/replaced on all models with chrome plated handles that incur this problem. It should not matter the year/make/model of the vehicle. This is a defect across the board.

Cracks in the dashboard around airbag and entire dash has cracked.

The hatch door will not stay open in cold weather. Even at a temperature in the 60's, it opens and then closes and is very forcefully, even knocked me in the head and kept shutting. It is always stationary and only in cooler weather, all other times it works correctly.

There are 3 major cracks on my dashboard, two of which eminate from the passenger airbag opening. I see where there are literally thousands of complaints about this. The dash board now moves up and down and rattles. This is definitely a manufacturers defect which must be addressed by manufacturer through a recall. The cracks just appear out of nowhere. I take exceedingly good care of car but replacing an entire dashboard because of poor design should be covered by manufacturer. Thank you.

Driving down the highway back window shattered into a million little pieces.

Have a 2008 gmc yukon xl 1500 that was bought brand new form dealership. Over the years of ownership have heard a popping or snapping noise on occasions in the front dash panel. Then two weeks ago heard it again then witnessed the dash crack open on the top left side which has caused the dash panel to wiggle free and also cracked at the mounting point. This happened while driving on a major city street.thought the dash was going to shatterfrom the noise it made. Had to pull over thank god it did not come out while driving and cause me to wreck.have seen this reported over and over with these dash panels. Also it reported on the news over the internet from wmcactionnews5.com. These need to be recalled and replaced before someone gets seriously hurt or worse. The sad part of it all is the dealerships want over $1000.00 just to replace a part that they know fails and that they have structural issues with and over 100 plus complaints about across america alone.

Large dashboard cracks near airbags.apparently widespread problem among gm products.i do not know if this will affect airbag safety or not.no incident involved yet.
