I purchased a 2004 yukon xl on 10-19-04 and i have had problems with the vehicles air bag system ever since.i have taken my vehicle in on at least 12 occasions, with repeat visits for same problem usually the same day.my car has given off numerous codes which include but are not limited to the following: b0026, b0040, b0041, b0043, b2470, b0229, b3770.i have taken my car to 3 separate dealerships where they have replaced harnesses, wires, connectors etc. None of this seems to have worked.i have for the last 6 months also have had ny horn blowing intermittently.i have called onstar to perform diagnostics on my vehicle and they have told me that the car has numerous codes coming up, and that i should not drive my vehicle until corrected, because the air bag may deploy on its own or it may not deploy if my car is wrecked.this is a very dangerous situation and i do not feel safe in my car, but i do not have any other choice but to drive it because i do not have an extra $40,000 to buy a new one. I have explained all of this to gmc's arbitration department, but they have sent me several letters stating that they are not willing to buy my car back. My family's lives are not replaceable, and i worry every time i get in the vehicle that something will happen, and this is horrible feeling for a mother, whose job is to protect her children. I would also like to say that i feel very sorry for the individual dealerships, because they have all gone out of their way to try and fix these problems, but all have been unsuccessful. It is not the dealerships fault, it is the manufacturer of the vehicle. I truly believe as my kids have said that this vehicle is truly possessed, and in my opinion not fixable.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon xl.while driving 35 mph, a vehicle crashed into the side middle of the contact's vehicle.the vehicle rolled over and the air bags failed to deploy.a police report was filed.the dealer stated that the air bags should have deployed.the driver sustained soft tissue injuries to her neck, shoulder, back, and legs.the driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.the vehicle was destroyed and towed.the current and failure mileages were 41,500.

The service air bag light has been coming on and off in my vehicle.was taken to the dealership in may and june and again in november.they have been unable to detect problem.gm has spoke with myself and the dealership.gm has told me that there is nothing they can do, if they can't duplicate the problem at the dealership.the problem is that is goes on and off at different times and there is no pattern to it.it didn't come on for 3 months and is now coming on again.i have contacted on-star when it comes on at times and they have informed me that the air bags may not deploy properly.i am worried that the air bags will go off when i'm just driving down the road.i have 2 children and do not feel that it is safe for them, myself, or the other drivers on the road.i am highly discouraged that gm is not being more active in trying to help with this situation that could result in injury or death!

I have three separate complaints:1) in december 2004 i was driving on the freeway, then suddenly there was a loud crashing sound that came from underneath of the hood of my yukon. It was apparent that something came apart from underneath the hood because when i looked in the rear view mirror, and then pulled over to the shoulder of the freeway; there was nothing visible in any of the freeway lanes which would indicate that i ran over something. Whatever came apart, you could hear it being drug from the front, all the way to the rear of the truck. It tore the entire left fender well apart, it cut a whole into my left custom tire, and it caused me to lose control of the vehicle , almost causing me to have an accident. My husband took the truck to the nearest gmc dealer for this problem, and the service person told him that we would be charged for them to look into this matter. My husband was also told that we would have to endure the cost to have the left rear fender well that was damaged from this incident.(2) in march 2005 my yukon's digital reading kept stating service air bag. Also, it displayed the picture of a person in the seat with the airbag deployed. I should not be having these problems with a vehicle that is fairly new, that has only 18,007 miles on it. I purchased this vehicle for safety purposes, and now i have to deal with defects that the dealer is not willing repair at no cost to me. (3) the transmission is shifting gears very roughly, and at times when it is placed into reverse or driveit jerks very hard, and other times when proceeding to drive it drags as if it has no power.

Dt: transmission;while sitting at a stop light when the light changes andhits the gas it falls out of gear, and then it makes a noise when it goes back into gear. Caller does not do anything but take his foot offbrake and onto gas pedal. Itdoes not do it all the time, but he does not know when its going tohappen. Dealer says if they can't duplicate the problem they can't fix it. So they say there is no problem. Manufacturer was called, and they did not returncall.consumer called them again, and they sent a service representative.he said if they can't duplicate the problem they can't fix it. Also the air bag light keeps coming on and off.

Since first purchase, the ever present concerns , inherent in our general motors gmc yukon xl, have grown; to whereby, they are safety, security, and well-being concerns; as yet to be addressed and corrected bybgeneral motors.for just one of the many, true concerns: the squeaking, clunking, locking steering, when turning: a) servuce bulletin number: 01863. B) nhtsa item numer: 10006616. C) summary description: lack of steering assist when stopped or during parking lot type manuevers. *mras shared, this is only one of the numerous, ever present, safety, security, and well-being concerns; as yet to be addressed and corrected, by the general motors company.since first purchase, we have been ignored, led on, and misled, which created time expiration.since the beginning, with the ever present concerns, we questioned the build quality of our general motors gmc yukon xl; without any response!safety, security, and well-being concerns should neither have a time limit nor constraints.

The speedometer will work sometimes but most of time it wont. Also the other gauges in dash board will quit working. The period of time of it not workinghas steadily increase. It has caused both my husband tickets or warnings because it does not work. The other gauges ( the oil, temp and rpm )are unreliable. I checked with a mechanic and he says this is common for the model i have. To repair they have to remove the dashboard.

My 2004 yukon has at least three major leaks in the brake lines caused by corrosion. Research found that this defect was identified shortly after the vehicles were sold new but refused to issue recalls. I was in a near accident when my brakes went completely to the floor suddenly. Also the stabilizer system fails without notice and the dash instrument cluster (gas gauge, temp gauge, voltage and oil pressure gauges works on and off.

Ever since i purchased my 2004 yukon xl in dec. 2003 the stability trac system has been disabled. The digital read out just blinks disabled. My local dealers keep telling me that gm is aware of the problem, but can't give me any answers. You would think someone would know something by now. The reason i purchased the yukon with the stabili-trac was for the safety of my family. I spent alot of money to buy the vehcile and now feel cheated due to not having what i really purcahsed the yukon for.

When i start the vehicle and go to the corner store turning the vehicle off, come out of store to restart vehicle it will not start it may take me 10 minutes to 4 hours to get the vehicle started again. Meaning i have been stranded at grocery stores, work, school functions. Attempting to get the vehicle started again i am constantly turning the switch. At this present time i have not drove my truck in almost 5 months. And i have been making truck payments on a vehicle i can't drive.... At this time not sure if it is ignition switch or pass lock i know both parts should be covered because it is a default from the manufacturer.

On arrival from 80-mile trip, we parked vehicle and turned-off ignition.uponalighting from vehicle, we detected a burning odor.inspection revealed smoke released through front grille.release of hood allowed smoke to billow-out.flames emerged immediately, spreading quickly from engine bay rearward, engulfing entire vehicle, which was destroyed, along with other vehicle parked alongside.fire department responded to immediate call for help andextinguished all fires within 30 minutes of call.

Cluster dashboard fails to light up when the key turns on the vehicle.none is the dashboard indicators move or light up, not able to see speed, miles, gas gage, etc. It takes 40 minute into a drive before it turns on randomly.

Reduced power indicator on information center comes on intermittently, when it does, vehicles goes into default mode & can go max 30 mph (very dangerous, was almost rear ended). Never know when it might happen. You can pull over shut engine off sit for a little while & it will start up & run fine until the next time the reduced power light comes on. Have had it @ several shops & replaced throttle sensor, traced wires, replaced grounds, inspected harness but doesn't seem to help. I see on the online message boards there is a lot of problems that gm can't seem to find a fix for. It is very dangerous, someone is going to get killed.

The speedometer on my 2004 gmc yukon xl denali has stopped working altogether. It stays pegged at 110mph. It never works correctly.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon xl.the contact stated that the speedometer displays inaccurate speeds.while idling, the speedometer will read 40 mph or jump from 40 mph to 100 mph.the only new equipment was the rear bumper, which was replaced in 2006.the vehicle was taken to a dealer and they stated that the vin was included in a recall.however, they would not repair the vehicle for free due to the mileage.the tire pressure warning light was the only indicator illuminated on the instrument panel at the time of the failures.the nhtsa campaign id number was unknown.the failure mileage was 101,000 and current mileage was 110,000.

While driving, the speedometer on my 2004 gmc yukon xl denali fails.it will either read 0 - 5, or 70-100.i can't tell how fast/slow i am going.when calling the dealer, i was told it was not under warranty, and will cost $500 - 700!!!this is a safety issue, and after researching, have found out that many, many, many people are experiencing this... Please force a recall?i can't afford this repair, nor do i think any of us should have to pay for it when it is obviously a faulty part from the manufacturer...

Since first purchase, the ever present concern, inherent within our general motors gmc yukon xl, have grown; to whereby, they are safety, security, and well-being concerns; as yet, neither addressed nor corrected by the general motors company gmc division.with just one of the many concerns, the squeaking, clunking locking steering, when turning: service bulletin number: 01863, nhtsa item number: 10006616.since first purchase, we have been ignored, led on, and misled, which created time expiration.since the beginning, with the ever present concerns, we questioned the build quality of our general motors gmc yukon xl; without any response, at all!safety, security, and well-being concerns should neither have a time limit nor constraints.

It is funny we have had two gmc yukon xl in our family and the speedodimeterhas stop working in both. There must be a problem with theses. Please let me know if there is a recall and why not?it seems from what we were told at the dealership that this is a problem.it happens when the cars just go out of warranty.

2004 yukon xl -- 26,000 milesspeedometer suddenly became erratic and never reset.shows 15 mph at a dead stop and 0 mph while traveling 30.

Speedometer failure.after 5 minute stop with engine off, speedometer registered approx 55 while going 25.pulled over, stopped, shut down and restarted.speedometer stuck at 60.kept climbing while stopped.then when driving speed added to higher set point.read over 100 mph at stop 2 miles later.there are 100's of complaints about this problem at http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/chevrolet-tahoe/t2bgkbgi55eknu77c/p11clearly not a normal wear problem on vehicle.this is clearly a recall.just a matter of time before someone dies because of this problem.very difficult to detect while driving, especially at night, you are trained to trust the instruments, not your instincts.some have indicated problem of speed reading too low, that is very dangerous.this should be addressed immediately.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon xl.while driving 50 mph, the speedometer froze and displayed 75 mph.the contact was unaware of the correct speed that he was actually driving.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the speedometer failed.the repair would cost $350, but no repairs have yet been made.the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that a class action law suit was filed, which would repair the speedometer up to 70,000 miles or seven years.because the contact's vehicle was at 100,000 miles, no compensation would be provided.the failure mileage was 100,000 and current mileage was 101,2000. Updated 3/5/09 updated 03/10/09.

Speedometer erratic on my 2004 gmc yukon.there has been several hundreds complaints on the internet.this has got to be a safety issue.

Iown a 2004 gmc yukon.thespeedometer wored s eratically.it either didnot registrar the correct speed or did not work at all.at times, appearedto registrar the correct vehicle speed.in any case it has created an unsafe condition because of not knowingfor certain whether or not the speed vehiclewastravelingwascorrect.

Speedometer is reading incorrectly on 2004 gmc yukon. It reads 60 mph when stopped and over 120 mph at approx 60 mph. My online research has uncovered thousands of these failures and several possible class action lawsuits are in the beginning process. Gmc, to date, has issued no recall - the consumer should not be financially responsible for this safety issue - within warranty period or not - what do we do next?

Spoeedometer shows 120 mph when vehicle is stopped.also does opposite and shows zero when in motion.

The speedometer would all of the sudden just go down to zero.once you would stop car, turn off and then back on, it would reset.it did this a half a dozen times, until this past weekend, while driving, it said i was going 70, but i seemed to be passing everyone.i slowed down, and noticed that the speedometer was stuck at 70.i stopped, turned off the car and nothing happened.i had to continue my trip by pacing myself with other cars.yesterday, it said i was pegged out going over 120.it would never go below 70.i took to dealer and they had to send cluster to be repaired.this is a very dangerous situation and sounds like a recurring problem that needs to be addressed by gm.i don't think the consumer should be stuck paying for a safety issue that gm needs to replace.

Speedometer and tachometer went jerky.

Speedometer of 2004 yukon slowed while driving ,causing me to speed up to maintain constant cruising speed.after a while i realized i was increasing velocity while the speedometer registered a decrease in velocity.the problem changed to result in a speedometer registering over 120 mph constantly even when stopped.research shows widespread problems throughout gmc line of vehicles with speedometers.*a

The speedometer is starting to increase in a ticking sort of way, sometimes getting stuck and/or pegging out at 120mph then falling back into range.it started when the vehicle reached about 45,500 miles. It now has 45,600 miles on it, and it seems to be getting worse.

Like many other complaints on this and other web sights speedometer and tachometer do not read correctly. Last friday,i drove from wichita, kansas to wichita falls, texas at 100 mph and 6000 rpms according to the instruments. Luckily i have a global positioning systemthat also gives mph and i was able to controlthe speed with it. I also had zero oil pressure at various times according to the gauge. This seems to be a much too common problem with gmc and other gm products of this year. I feel gm should have to pay for the repairs and not the public that has spent good money to buy these vehicles.

While driving, the driver's power side seat begins to move forward.the dealer states there was no solution at this time.the vehicle was taken to the dealer on twelve occasions.the driver's seat memory switch was inoperative, there was noise at idle and was unable to be duplicated, the satellite radio would lose frequency, the seam on the drivers seat material was wearing and the horn was delayed. *sc

Failure to start engine. Over last 6 months, intermittent non-starting when key is turned in ignition. All lights and internal equipment (radio, heater) all come on but engine does not make any noise. There is no pattern (full log of issues available by owner). Vehicle has been in two dealerships for diagnosis and problem can not be identified.some days the car will start after 1 or 2 tries, other days i have waited up to 20 minutes with 45 - 50 attempts to start.

2004 yukon xl with 91,880 miles.replacement left front wheel bearing/hub failed catastrophically at 6,046 miles of service.the bearing separated completely leading to a towing event.vehicle was on an interstate highway and traveling at 70 mph, in a straight line when this occurred.service technician said the drive shaft on the 4wd vehicle was the only thing retaining the wheel.the prior bearing was replaced at 85,878 miles.the bearing was installed ataftermarket service center.the hub face has the following numbers etched on it.730-0093, 12fr18107.when i look this up it appears to be a bearing made by gnb.

This is second gm vehicle that i have had this problem it goes into reduced engine power often.spent over 3,000.00 trying to fix first vehicle and never did. Dealers don't know how to fix. This is dangerous, was passing a truck today on 2 lane road and veh went in to reduced power.will not buy another gm product....

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon xl. While driving 60 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 182,000.

My 2004 gmc yukon xl speedometer stopped working.it was stuck at 10mph for a couple of days. It went back down to zero but would not register properly after that.it is presently stuck at 120mph even when the car is off. I did contact gm an they said that i would have to bring it in to a dealer for diagnosticts and it would be covered only if it was the instrument panel cluster that was bad.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon xl.the contact stated that the check engine oil light illuminated and the vehicle stalled.she was not able to drive above 10 mph.she added oil to the engine and plans to take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection.the current and failure mileages were 140,200.

Since first purchase, the ever present concerns, inherent with our general motors gmc yukon xl, have grown; to whereby, they are safety, security, and well-being concerns: a) the squeaking, clunking, locking steering, when turning: service bulletin number: 01863. The nhtsa item number: 10006616. B) the brake pedal, when fully stopped, at times, presses completely to the floor. C) the air conditioner that ever emits a moldy smell.d) the driver side air conditioner, at times, blows hot, when the passenger side blows cold. E) the ever present interior moldy smell. F) the driver side trim panel has dropped down; to whereby, any outside, rearview mirror adjustments are almost an impossibility, and the door locks are difficult to securely operate. G) the inoperative, keyless entry remote. G) the dash lights, at times, are inoperative. H) since first purchase, three (3) new batteries have been purchased, two (2), within the last few months.since first purchase, we have been ignored, led on, and misled which created time expiration.since the beginning, with the ever present concerns, we questioned the build quality of our general motors gmc yukon xl, without any response, at all.safety, security, and well-being concerns should neither have a time limit nor constraints.

While driving 75 mph on a 102 degree day, my fuel tank was at 1/2 full. The engine stalled and i lost all acceleration, making it dangerous on highway conditions. When i slowed to 20 mph at the side of the road, i lost all power of steering and brakes. I experienced "vaporlock" according to the gm certified technician who evaluated my problem the following day (under a cool engine condition).he found no defects with a cool engine on a 60 degree morning.

While towing our boat in hot weather the engine stalls/kills leaving the vehicle with no power steering/brakes etc.dealer cannot replicate failure, gm has no fix has killed 8 times over 3 years of ownership.i want a fix.

My car has completely died three times at highway speeds.the first time was july 2004, the second time was early oct 2005 and the last time was jan 19, 05. This has happened in three different states at three very different altitudes.when the car dies i have no brakes, power steering or anything else for that matter.the car will restart after a while.the first time it died, i thought i was going off a cliff on a pass.the last two times were on busy interstates.this is very dangerous.i have had it to the dealership numerous times only to be told that they cannot duplicate the problem so cannot fix it.i have contacted gmc during this entire period of episodes, numerous times and they are very nice but it is only lip service.i finally got my hands on a gmc service bulletin document id#1530787.it describes my problems exactly.it parrots what i have told the dealership every time i have taken the car in.i like my car and just want it fixed.i am going to kill myself and or others if i cannot control the car when it dies. I saved my money and paid cash for this car and cannot afford to buy another one.and, i cannot sell this car as i would need to disclose its defect.so, i am in need of help to get it repaired.thanks.

Loud pinging noise from exhaust which continues 5-10 minutes after car is turned off, also has vibration in steering wheel and dash when at a sit still in either drive or park, rpm are not changing when vibrating, exhaust is extremely loud.

I purchased a new 2004 yukon xl denali ,at times the rear heater will not work , the fan will blow but only cold air. At other times you can turn the entire ac/heat unit off in the front and it will continue to blow from the vents, i have taken it to the service department from the dealer i bought it from, they told me there was nothing they could do until gm issues a solution to the problem.

The entire audio system in my 2004 gmc yukon has no audio.the lights are on so it appears that it should be working.you can turn the volume completely up and get no sound.the am/fm radio does not have sound nor does the xm radio or my on star.if you stop the car, put it in park, turn off the ignition, open the drivers door, close the door, put the key back in and restart the car, it will sometimes restart the radio (reboot the system).the dealership has been unable to determine the cause.this has occurred multiple times.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that the air conditioner in the rear no longer functioned. The contact also received an adjustment of service notice from the manufacturer and the air conditioner in the front was repaired, but not the rear. The dealer replaced the power connecter and the resister blower. The contact felt that the failure of the rear air conditioner was a manufacturer's defect. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 92,000.

I was driving on delaware route # 1 doing the speed limit (65mph) in my 2004gmc yukonxlwhen i lost power to the vehicle. Fortunately i was able to pulloff of the highway on the right shoulder even within fast moving traffic. After assessing the situation i realize that my motor was still running with the dash indicators showing the engine light and the reduced power signal light on. When traffic had cleared i attempted to go back on the highwaybut found i could only travel between 35-40 miles per hour. Knowing that there was a gmdealer aheadin 15-20 miles i continued on rt #1 since the speed limit ahead was reduced to 55mph. When i reached the gm dealer i.g.burton in milford delaware i immediately went to their service department. I explained my situation and was told that i probably had a bad throttle body (carburetor) and that it would have to be replaced. They seemed to say that this has been a common problem. I went ahead and had the work done at that point for a cost of $568.32.

Our 2004 gmc yukon continues to stall while driving on freeway during hot weather and on inclines. Fuel pump was replaced on 6/29/05, 7/29/05, and on 9/6/05. Dealer has not been able to correct problem with new fuel pumps.

This vehicle continues to leave us on the side of the road.we have been told by the dealer it is the fuel pump.they have replaced 3 times now but still stalling, won't start, dies while driving, etc...so far the problem has not been corrected, the dealer just keeps changing the fuel pump.they tell us gm knows there is a problem with the fuel pumps on these suv's.

Fuel pump went out on vehicle left me stranded original ownership paper work left in vehicle shows previous work has been done.

The back glass on our 2004 gmc yukon xl broke at the right hinge at first.we hardly ever opened the back glass, so that shouldn't have been an issue.today the left back glass hinge broke. I have searched for a recall on this, however there isn't one.gmc is aware and acknowledges the problem but isn't willing to repair the issue.found many forums where other gmc & chevy owners are facing the same problem.it can be fixed for around $1000.00 but since it is apparently a defect on their end.....why should we have to pay for it?please help!!!

We purchased a 2004 gmc yukon xl in september on 2004.the vehicle had a recall notice on the transmission and the dealership did not preform the repair.in on monday, december 27th, 2004 the transmission blew and the vehicle was sent to a dealership locally, the dealership replace the transmission on the brand new suburban, my concern is that the dealership and gm have an obligation to replace the problem prior to selling the vehicle and the fact that they sold the vehicle knowing the problem existed and did nothing about it scares me.we run a transportation company in the mtns of colorado, had that transmission failed on one of the passes we could have killed several people.the dealerships response was "well that did not happen did it" from rick duncans own mouth.we have decided to file a lawsuite against the dealership and gm due to the nature of this failure in vehicle equipment.

Second row outside safety belts intermittently do not retract or allow extension. Seats are presently used with booster seats for twin boys, and intermittent failures have caused us to have to move boosters to other seats for safety reasons.

*sc

The brake lines on my 2004 xl yukon went out leaving me helpless with my 5 year old twin daughters. I was out doingerrands yesterday when i was traveling 55miles an hour on a major side highway when i went to brake and my foot went straight to the bottom of the floor.... I was not able to stop i was petrified because i was in full traffic. I pulled off the road into the grass to prevent an accident. This was the most frightening situation i have ever been in. When my husband arrived home i explained what happened , he looked under the truck to find all i said all of my brake lines were corroded and rusted and crumbly to the ground. He said he never saw anything like this. We have had several used cars in our lifetime and this is the first to ever experience brake line failure!!!!!! i called gm to discuss my dilemma and hopefully get help with the repair and confirm my husbands findings. We were advised they will do the tow to the dealership for the diagnostic, but we would have to pay for the diagnostic. We were also advised this was a maintenance issue. Well if we would have ever thought that we would not be in this predicament today... Well here i am still waiting to hear back from them about the tow. I also called the gm dealership and they said they are aware of the problem and they had several cars in there dealership right now for brake line repair, but could do nothing with absorbing the repair cost. I would have to go to general motors and take it up with them.... At this point i am thankful for being alive with my beautiful twin daughters which could have been crippled , dismembered or even dead i am seeking from general motors compensation for repairsof my brakelines on my gm xl yukon 2004.

Excessive corrosion on brake calipers, bleeders and all bolts are rusted and unmovable.brake lines are rusted and leaking.

While driving/ braking normally, brake pedal sunk down to floor. Luckily i was driving slow and no other cars were around because stopping at 30 mph took a very long space. I found out that 1 brake line rotted through till it leaked and 3 others needed replacement. Gmc does not make replacement lines they need to be custom made.

I have a 2004 gmc yukon xl and on 10/21/13 my brake completely gave out. Luckily i was only going about ten mph and was able to roll to a stop. This was a very scary and unsafe condition. My son usual drives this truck to school and work thank god he was not behind the wheel. Upon inspection i noticed the brake lines are completely corroded. The brake line under the drivers side front door just behind the abs unit corroded through. All of the brake lines show major corrosion. This vehicle only has 76,500 miles on it. This should never happen to a vehicle with this little use. May i add that i keep the vehicle mechanically and cosmetically meticulously maintained. I would like to be notified if there is any action taken by gmc to resolve or repair these issues. Furthermore if any class action suit arises i would like to be notified. Through my research this seems to be a problem all over the country causing many accidents. Gmc should acknowledge and fix this problem before someone gets killed. Thanks

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon xl. While driving at any speed and applying the brakes, the pedal would stiffen and not moved downward completely. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was driven to a mechanic who diagnosed that the power assist brake system failed. The vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 04v045000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon xl. The contact was exiting a parking space at 3 mph and depressing the brakes when the pedal was depressed into the floorboard abnormally. The emergency brake was used to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who inspected the failure. They informed the contact that all the brake lines were rusted and corroded and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 116,000. Formreturnd no change

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that when depressing the brake pedal, it suddenly depressed all the way to the floor. The vehicle was diagnosed by the owner and he noticed that the brake lines fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified and they offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were approximately 70,000. The vin was unavailable.

Dt: the contactowns a 2004 yukon xl which he had owned for eighteen months with about 12,000 miles on it.the rotors had rusted and pitted on all four wheels. The dealer said they must be replaced. Gm said they were not responsible for brakes and called this an environmental wear problem. The contactwas informed of this on 10-06-05 during a routine service check. The contact thought this was a defect in the brakes onbecause the rotors should have not have worn out with only 12,000 miles on the car.updated 11/15/2005 -after the consumer indicated he was going to call nhtsa he received a call from an area rep.the rep indicated that gm approved replacement of the front rotors and cleaning of the rear brakes under warranty.

In december of 2005, starting hearing a loud rattle coming from the left front side of my 2004 gmc yukon with 26,099 miles.a couple of weeks later i took it to my local dealer under warranty.they wrote "lubricated body mount cushions".now in february 2007 with 46222 miles the rattle is back.searching the internet, i found www.topix.net gmc yukon suspension rattle with complaints from dozens of people experiencing the same problem.gm has even created a lubrication kit for it's service department to use, however it does not fix the problem which is in the intermediate steering column.the dealer lied about the service performed on my vehicle and gm knows there is a problem.many people have had the entire intermediate steering columns replaced, but the rattle continues.apparently there is actually the lower steering column bearing that needs replaced.i don't know what happens if the steering bearing wears out.does my steering go out?will i have an accident?i have contacted gm regarding a recall and nothing.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon. The power steering shaft in the pump broke while driving 30 mph. The power steering light illuminated and the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. The dealer replaced the power steering pump. The failure mileage was 37,000.

While driving down the highway the hood opened causing the driver to not be able to see.upon investigation the welds that secure the hood latch broke loose.

In sept. Of 2007, i noticed a squeaking noise each time i opened the back hatch.when i investigated the source, i opened the back hatch window and the hinges that held the glass to the body of the car were separating causing the window to fall away on a tilt.i can no longer open the window for fear it will completely come away from the vehicle.it is a huge safety concern and i can no longer open the back hatch at all any longer.the vehicle has never been hit or damaged in any way and the back window has rarely been used in the 3 years i have owned it.i have found websites with people complaining of the same safety issues with the hinges.

The rubber boot that holds the grease in on the lower & upper ball joints on both left & right side have blown out.

Vehicle has pulled strongly to the left and right almost causing one serious accident with 4 children inside.vehicle has had chronic front end alignment/suspension failures.a total of 4 alignments have been performed and a 5th is needed.vehicle has 24,000 miles and needs a new set of tires.unusual wear continues on the inner front tire tread and the unevenly wore tread is beveled.gm refuses to admit there is any problem.

Speedometer does not go back to 0, it is giving a false speed

Cluster dashboard fails to light up when the key turns on the vehicle.none is the dashboard indicators move or light up, not able to see speed, miles, gas gage, etc. It takes 40 minute into a drive before it turns on randomly.

Whilst driving on i-10 it was noted theindicated speed was less than posted.i accelerated , but the indicated speed did not increase.by the time i realized thespeedometer was reading incorrectly i was zooming past other traffic.i was likely traveling 90 mphin the 70 mph zone.this was an extremely unsafe event.i took the vehicle to the dealer, and was told speedometer cluster failureswere very common in 2003 and 2004 gm/gmc vehicles, but therewas no recall.the dealer replaced the instrument cluster . He told me if he had a nickel for every one he replaced he wouldbe a rich man.

I have a 2004 gmc yukon with 46,000 miles and the speedometer has started sticking at random points on the gauge. Sitting still with the key off the speedometer can read 10,50 or even 70 mph.at the moment the problem appears to be intermittent, and i have researched this, and found it is a common problem with the chevrolet tahoe, the same truck as i have except labeledas a chevrolet . A replacement from gm is more than $500, including their installation and recalibrating. I find this to be very concerning for a car that is only 3 years old to have such a serious problem.

The speedometer is stuck at 80 miles per hour.the process to fix the vehicle requires them to take the part off ship it to dallas or houston (min 3 days w/o vehicle).repairers have been behind (min 1 week w/o vehicle).according to my service provider they have 5 others waiting for the same type of worked to be performed.if there are 5 people waiting to have their speedometer repaired (at the same time) sounds like a consistent problem.i don't know how "one" sticks their speedometer.

I have a 2004 gmc yukon xl at the time i noticed the damage to the rear hatchback window, the truck only had 45,000 miles on it at the time, the extent of the damage is the hinges has broken away from the glass which i truly believe is a design flaw.i have taken a strap and tied the glass down to prevent it from falling out on the interstate, causing damage or injury to another vehicle, the glass itself has not been broken or damage but it is the hinges which has seperated from the glass.

On august 15,2005 my husband drove to portland to attend our grandsons birthday party. He stopped to pick up our son and his family to take to ourdaughters. Leaving their house he pulled out onto the road at approximately 5 miles per hour and the rear window exploded outward as if blown out from the inside. He recalls that there were no pedestrians or hearing any thing hit the window. The dealer and gm has refused to pursue this so we replaced the window. The professional who replaced our window said that it appeared to blow out from the inside. He also stated that he has seen windows while replacing them shatter from little pressure. We stressed to our dealer and gm our concern that this could be a major safety issue. Luckily our children and grandchildren sitting in the back were not hurt.
