Both driver and passenger side airbags deployed without any accident or impact. The airbags deployed while the car was parked and when the ignition key was turned.

Consumer complained aboutdriver's side air bag. Air baglight cameon and remained on. Consumer tookvehicle to the dealer 5 times. Dealer replaced the air bag twice, and replaced the coil to the air bag twice, and reset the error code 5 times. However, the problemrecurred. *mr

While driving on the highway and keeping up with traffic, i noticed my speed was 75mph. Slowing down to the posted speed limit i was suddenly getting passed up by everyone. It wasn't until i exited the highway and while waiting at a stoplight i noticed the speedometer was reading 10mph (while standing still). Checking gmc and chevrolet forums online, this seems to be a common problem and a definite safety concern. The reading on the speedometer while in park now varies between 10-20 mph, and i have absolutelyno idea how fast i'm actually traveling while driving. I've made an appt with the dealer to have it checked out, and i'm sure the repairs will be expensive!

I have taken my 2003 gmc yukon xl in for service on the air conditioner on more than one occasion. I recently moved from michigan to tennessee and while living in michigan i notices a squealing noise whenever i turned on my ac. The noise would last a few minutes and then stop. I also noticed a rattling noise upon acceleration while the ac was on. I took it to the dealer in michigan and at first nothing was found. I again took it to a dealership in tennessee and was told that it was a recycling switch, and it was replaced. Now, almost i year later the same problem has occurred but unfortunately, my vehicle is now out of warranty (50,000 miles) and i am now told that the air compressor has completely failed. It will now cost me over $1,000 to repair on a car that is less than two years old.

Instrument cluster. Gauges randomly stick or falsely read to include speedometer. Sometimes it will stick at a random speed. Other times it will peg at its max. Unknown if odometer is involved. Sometimes they reset after repeated start/off cycles. Was covered under a gm recall bulletin no: 07187b, page 8. Current odometer is 145,369. Should gm not repair this after the warranted period? this is just as dangerous now than it was at 70,000 miles. Oil pressure gauge very rarely reads correctly. I trailer tow often and correct oil pressure is imperative as is a correct speedometer reading. On the top of the page i downloaded from nhtsa is the number csc-10026542-8984. Please note that this began two years ago with a faulty amp gauge but within the last several months it has now affected all gauges but the fuel gauge, water temp and transmission temp. Possibly related is the heated seat on the drivers side. The heat is on all the time (on hi) and can only be shut off by unplugging the seat which deactivates the air bag sensor, power seat control and the like. I have not contacted gm at this time. Please advise me as to my course of action.

Consumer states that instrument panel gets extremely hot during normal vehicle operation.consumer concerned about possible fire hazard. Phcomputer module was replaced and the instrument panel is no longer hot. Module also caused no start condition.

Own 2003 gmc yukon lt...car stalls engine light power reduced...pull over and vehicle will start again a few minutes later...it will stall out of the blue in intersections...have stopped driving the vehicle for fear of accident and family being hurt...have done many repairs to fix the problem but nothing we try takes care of it...transmission problems code came 3-2 shift solenoid..took to transmission shop found out ignition switch was bad...replaced it truck ran fine for about six months...new problem- engine power reduced light..vehicle runs sluggish..code came back p2135..throttle body sensor ...replaced throttle body also replaced wire connector...truck ran fine for few months and did it again...same codep2135..is there recall on computer/electrical malfunction?...very dangerous...

2003 gmc yukon xlcomplaint #1. Speedometer is erratic. Odometer reads only 79,000 miles. A few months ago, after starting the vehicle the speedometer jumped to 60 mph which caused the needle to read 120 at the actual 60. If you shut off the ignition and restarted the car, the needle would drop about 5 mph each time. If you repeated this procedure (starting engine, shutting off engine) after 10-12 times the speedometer would read zero again. This happened several times. Yesterday as i pulled off the highway, where the speed is 75 mph, and pulled onto our local road where the posted speed limit is 50, i noticed that i was holding up traffic although the speedometer read 50. I felt as if i was not actually doing 50 so i sped up even though the needle read 65mph. I pulled over to see if indeed the speedometer was reading inaccurately, and it was. This time stuck at 15 mph. I again repeated the engine off/on procedure to get the needle back to zero, but noticed it jumping and not responding quickly at stop signs. I have read reviews about complaints with the speedometers but do not see yukon xls as part of the affected vehicles. This is a very frightening issue as i have a 16-year-old that will be driving this vehicle on her own in just a few months. I believe gm should address this before someone's driving record is tarnished for unintentional speeding resulting in tickets and insurance increases...and possibly even accidents resulting in death.complaint #2. Fuel gauge sticks at full mark until approximately 1/4 tank of gas is used, then gauge will drop. Also sticks at 1/4 tank then drops again to empty. Due to inability to prove the problem at the dealership while under warranty, the dealership would not repair.

My speedometer on my 2003 gmc yukon keeps sticking.reads 100 when i'm only doing 30.

Reduced engine speed warning light comes on and drops truck to an idle. I feel this is very dangerous in traffic and on highways. My mechanic has not been able to locate problem. All forums and online help has brought me to dead ends. This is my last resort, i believe gm knows what the problem is and am hoping they will do the right thing and recall before someone is seriously hurt or killed from this issue.

My 2003 yukon has a speedometer problem. The mph will become locked in on speeds that are not accurate. Today i was driving according to the speedometer 110 mph, but actual speed less than 40 mph. This problem has occurred more than 40 times in the last month. When i stop the vehicle the speedometer needle at times will not reset to 0 mph. I have had this problem for a while, and have found out that some friends with similar vehicles(gmc pick ups) have the same problem. I was advised by the dealer that this a problem that is becoming more frequent!

Speedometer stick and jams. Reads incorrect speeds, off my as much as 100 mph!. This i have found to be a common problem with gmc's, and they know about it.

Dash lights don't work by heater lights.needs a new cluster and control replaced.

Headlights as well as daytime running lights do not come on highbeams do however

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon xl.the contact stated that the speedometer is erratic and becomes stuck at different speeds.while driving 50 mph, the dial would drop down to 0 mph and displays inaccurate speeds.the contact received a recall notice (recall number 07187) from gmc, which stated that the recall was seven years or 70,000 miles.the vehicle currently has over 70,000 miles; however, no failures were occurring at the time the recall notice was received.the dealer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty for the repair.the failure mileage was 111,000.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that all the gauges on the instrument panel failed to function. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The contact was advised that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vehicle was not included in the customer satisfaction campaign due to the current mileage. The failure mileage was approximately 148,000. The current mileage was approximately 149,000.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that when the key chain was attached to the keys, the vehicle failed to start however, when the key chain was removed, the vehicle start as designed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer nor an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000.

Vehicle stalls while in motion. Figured out it may be running out of gas due to the gauge not working. Now, it stalls when it only has a half a tank of gas, not completely empty. Put 16 gallons of gas in the 30 gallon tank, truck runs smooth. Replaced the fuel filter twice. Replaced the battery, tested the alternator, results no alt. Problem. Check engine light on, speedometeris off, gas gauge is off, and the rear view mirror display lights go on and off erratically. Biggest problem is when i break the truck will shut off.this has been going on since nov. 2010, when we replaced the battery and quit using a certain type of gas it seemed to be fine. Now, it is acting up and today was the first incident since early december.

The speedometer incorrectly reads the speed of the vehicle.when the vehicle is traveling 20 mph, the speedometer registers 70mph.when the vehicle is sitting still the speedometer is on 35mph.gm dealer thinks the problem is the gauge cluster and recommends it to be replaced at a cost of $400.this gauge cluster has been replaced in the past under warranty due to incorrect fuel levels.

While driving at 65 mph, the yukon just shut down and the battery light came on.got to shoulder of road, put it in park, turn of the ignition and started it right back up.did it again, 15 minutes later - same results.the next 7 times, the car at low speed (15-20 mph) started acting like it wasn't getting gas and running rough, not pulling.pulled of road.would turn over and try to start and if it started, was very rough.after about 15 minutes, the yukon started like nothing was wrong and would run for 10-15 minutes.this also happened to me in june.took to an independent mechanic who could find nothing wrong.happened to my parents in 2006 in this vehicle traveling to mississippi.gmc dealer could find nothing wrong.currently the dealer wants to change the fuel pump.i have researched and others with this problem have replaced the fuel pump and it doesn't stop happening.speedometer just failed too.wonder if it could be an electronics/electrical problem.

Dt*: the contact stated on three occasions while driving at highway and freeway speeds of 30- 75 mph the vehicle made a loud grinding noise followed by another loud bang.the vehicle stalled and filled with white smoke.the vehicle was towed to a local dealership each time.the entire a/c was replaced on two occasions.on another occasion various parts of the a/c was replaced.on three other occasions the vehicle would not start and was towed each time.the battery was replaced a total of three times.the problem still persists.

On my 2003 yukon xl, the speedometerexhibiting strange behavior such as indicating 120 mph at a stop sign etc. Lowest speed is 90 mph when car is in park.

2003 yukon xl with 105, 000 miles speedometer not working properly, spoke with gmc was advised there is a special coverage to repair this known problem, but since i am over the mileage not the years they won't do anything. All i want is the part and i will pay for the labor that's only fair. I have 4 drivers in the family and it is unsafe for them to drive. We never know when the speedometer will stop working.

Speedometer acting erratically. When the vehicle is stopped, the speedometer reads anywhere from 30 - 80 mph.then when driving the speedometer goes past 120 mph while driving 30 - 50 mph.basically, does nothing but confuses the driver and i am not convinced that it is not tracking the mileage on the odometer as if you were traveling at the 120 mph rate.

Speedometer first exceeded actual speed by 20 to 50 mph then would not work at all.called it to the attention of the dealer - ran diagnostics and said was fixed. 2 weeks later problem recurred - now they want $500 to $1000 to fix. Asked if this is common problem they denied any issue however internet search reveals this is very common occurrence and has potentially serious hazardous impact.

All gauges in dash are not working. This problem has occurred since early 2006. Took to the dealer to fix, but after several months the problem occurred again. When i would take back to the dealer of course it was working again and didn't need to fix the problem at the time. Now however, it has been happening more frequently, ie. 3 times in the last 5 days. The other day we left the house and nothing was working, however when we left to go home the gauges were working again. Then 2 days later everything was working just fine, then when i went to drive again nothing was working, but by the next morning everything was working just fine, until today again.

The speedometer and oil pressure gauge on my 2003 yukon xl do not consistently operate correctly.gauges indicate speeds and pressures that are not correct.

Recall for the speedometer in 2003/2004the there was a recall in 2003/2004 for the speedometer and when i took my car in for another problem i showed the recall letter and they said they only could change it if there was any problem. Past 7 years and less than 70,000 miles the speedometer stopped working when i parked my car. I took my car in to get fixed and they charge me for it, becauseit has passed 7 years and the warranty for the recall had expired. If there was a problem before they knew it that sooner or later we would have a problem with the speedometer.this is safety if someone drives a car in the freeway and the speedometer just stopped, what it's going to happen if you don't know your speed.

Speedometer does not work right. I have had no luck getting it fixed and many people have same issue.

2003 gmc yukon xl with 118,000 miles on it recently began to have a malfunctioning speedometer, especially in cold weather.i was about to get itt repaired, when i learned from another owner of 2 yukon/suburban suvs that the same thing happened to their vehicles at about 100,000 miles.if this is a systemic issue in that class of vehicles, there should be a recall and a company-initiated repair of the issue.it is unsafe not to know one's speed.

Speedometer reads high, sometimes up to 60 mph when car if not running standing still.worse case was pegged at 120 mph +.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving various speeds, the speedometer gauge stopped functioning without warning.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined the entire instrument cluster panel needed to be replaced.the manufacturer was alerted.

About a month ago my speedometer showed my husband doing 60 mph when in reality he was doing about 10. The next day it was fine. Just this week it happened again - only this time it is reflecting anywhere from 80 - 120 mph no matter how fast you are driving or if you are stopped. Since i first reported it at the second occurrence - at which i was 306 miles out of warranty - the dealer is charging me $575 to replace the cluster.

I have recently purchased a 2003 gmc yukonxl and since i bought this car i have had several problems with the speed odometer sticking at different mph or just not working all the way around. It was never the whole cluster that went out, just the odometer.i spoke to several different people i know that own anything from the gmc yukon to the chevy suburban (total of 9 people from texas to oklahoma) and each one of them have also had this same problem. I have recently got the problem fixed. To which the receipt from the dealership states they replaced the whole cluster.

Instrument panel inoperative recall notice for 7 years/70,000 miles, received after 71,000 miles even when problem started at 64,000 miles, all gauges go out at random and is interment. A call to general motors and an hour of time i was told nothing can be done i was out of recall notice mileage and i was out of luck and had to pay for the repair myself.*updated 12/12/07 updated 12/12/07

I have a repeating failure of the speedometer in my 2003 gmc yukon with 53k miles. While driving at normal speeds the speedometer will read 60-70 mph faster than actually traveling. While parked the gauge will stick at a random speed above 0. I feel this is dangerous because i am unable to properly know my speed while driving. I have read this problem is prevalent with gmc/chevy trucks and feel the manufacturer should repair my speedometer.

Speedometer will show 100 mph while driving 30 mph.very unsafe if you can't regulate your speed correctly to match the driving conditions.

Dt: the contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon xl. The ignition key has three different setting auxiliary, run, start and the vehicle has a stop mechanism so that owner cannot take the vehicle out of park unless stepping on the brake.however, that stop settingdid notwork if the key was set to the auxiliary.could basically take it out of park and put it into gear without having to step on the brake. Unable todo it if the key was set on the run position or ifstarted vehicle.owner's manual did not say anything about it, and it did not talk discuss the safety of the way this vehicle was made. What happened is he had a 2 year old and a 5 year old childwhile backingcar into driveway. Is on a slant they were just sitting there they had the vehicle on accelerate and when he turned around 2 year old crawled into the front of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to go down the driveway and across the street. The doors were locked to the vehicle he had to jump through the window and hit the brake. And he has read the owners manual from front to back and he cannot see anywhere in there to were it is possible to wear you can take the vehicle out of the park setting without hitting the brake. He called the dealership and they told him that this would not happen in the vehicle. He knows several people that has this same type of vehicle with this same mechanism and there vehicle is the same way.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon xl. While driving 35 mph, the stability control failed and the vehicle lost power. The stability control active warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact mentioned that there was also a grinding sound. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 195,633.

Engine went into reduced engine power (rep) mode and 4 diagnostic troubleshooting codes (dtc's) were set all relating to the throttle activation circuit (tac). When this happens the engine power is shut off immediately and the engine will only idle. This is a known issue with gm and is a potentially extremely dangerous safety issue. The entire tac system ( throttle body, tac module, pcm, wire harnesses/connectors) needs to be investigated.

Reduced engine speed warning light comes on and drops truck to an idle. I feel this is very dangerous in traffic and on highways. My mechanic has not been able to locate problem. Had truck for one week, having a good time, and then the car stalled eleven times on me. Wheel locks up and i am traveling at 60 miles per hour.even stalled on top of the greater new orleans bridge with a truck full of kids. Very scaryi am terrified to go anywhere far and am not pleased with the fact i had to pay a hundreddeductible to have it repaired.i haven't paid the first note and shelling out money for repairs.i hate this.then the dealerships treat you as if you are crazy.they claim it was the fuel pump!now the service crew at (?) thinks i'm crazy, i'm just scared.i could have stayed in my unreliable intrepid for what i am going through.and remember it's only been a week.now i just drop the kids to school and park it until it's time to pick them up.nothing extra! we need to try to form a class action before someone gets killed.one day the car behind us won't stop! thank god nothing tragic so far that we know of.why does someone have to die before drastic measures are made by these manufactures!i wish every head gmc as well as a few others would take these vehicles for the weekend and drive in fear like we do everyday with their defective product.

This vehicle displayed a message thet the engine was running at reduced power.the vehicle's engine slowed to idle speed while we were driving on a public street.we had been pulling a travle trailer just prior to this happening.this created a possible danger to us as well as other drivers on the street since we could hardly get the vehicle to power up so we could get off the street.i called the local dealer in beaumont, tx.i was told that this was a commom operation to protect the enging from damage and that there is no recall for this problem.i wonder what would have happened if this had occured while we were motoring at highway speeds with the travel trailer in tow?if there is a choice between protecting the engine or my family, my family comes first.this is a safety issue that should be resolved before deaths occur from this problem.i took the car to a local mechanic who checked the failure code.he could not determine the exact problem but he cleared the fault code p2135 from the system.we were able to pull the trailer back home without any more problems.no other fault lights appeared on the return trip.

The manifold bolts are broken on my 2003 gmc yukon xl.please see this video for a description of the problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yg6wlbnzgithis defective part (manifold bolts) affects numerous gmc/chevy vehicles with v8 engines.i believe there should be a product recall.i was informed of this condition when i took the vehicle in for service of a non-related issue.i was quoted over $500 to drill out these bolts and replace them.the dealer mentioned not replacing these could lead to emissions leaks and the possible need to replace the manifold itself.this problem can also contribute to the check engine light coming on as an exhaust leak can trigger a temperature sensor on the vehicle located near the manifold bolt.updated ivoq 09/01/10

Air conditioner compressor has gone out a total of 3 times and only has 70k miles.first time was around 12k miles, second time was around 33k miles and now it is not working at all and needs to be replaced again.

The air conditioner switches to heat while driving.

My 2003 yukon xl (51,000 miles) flex fuel sensor is rotting off the vehicle. Was told it is not covered. It is self destructing around the area where the fuel lines enter the sensor. If the corrosion continues it will cause fuel to spray all over the undercarriage. I am an ase master tech. And a vocational automotive instructor. I feel this could pose a severe safety issue.

2003 yukon xl would die like it was out of gas when it still had at least 1/4 tank or it would not start when it had at least 1/4 tank of gas but if you added 1 - 5 gallons of gas it would start.took to dealer and they said the fuel pump had low pressure and they replaced fuel sending unit.seems to be fine now.dealer stated they had not seen any other vehicles with this problem but i know of at least 4 other gm suv's that are having the same problem in the small town that i live in

When shiftingvehicle into park there is a loud popping noise, indicating transmission failure.

Vehicle was shut off when consumer's child shifted the gear shift from park into drive. This caused the vehicle to drift downon the road and hit a parked vehicle.the new ignition system did not allow the consumer to turn the key toward the driver for accessory use when the engine was off and in park.when in accessory mode, the brakes did not have to be applied to shift thegears.this incident occurred as the consumers child had gotten of his car seat and climbed to the drivers seat. *sc

The tension of the driver side built-in-seat seatbelt causes pain in left shoulder even after a short drive.i checked the tension in another gmc car and it appears to be the same.the dealership cannot modify the belt to reduce the tension, and gmc "customer service" refers me back to the dealership. Requests to get gmc'stechnical department involved were denied - i would have to go to the dealership.

Passenger safety belt to short to lock belt. ( gmc quick fix add a piece of belt material with two buckles) cheap gm fix for a $35k suvsecond row rear seat belts are not sufficiently long to accommodate 2 adult passengers.the two problems were reported to the gm dealership and found that there is no kind of fix for the rear seat passenger.( we were told to wait ).

Vehicle has automatic seats. The automatic seat module will not retain the stored information which is used to set the seating position. The seat will not go back to allow the driver to get out of the vehicle. Also, the motor that operates the movement of the seat began to run while the vehicle was in motion, causing the seat to move forward into the dashboard.ownercontacted the manufacturer, who was not willing to do anything about this defect.dealer stated that until the manufacturer can fix the seat module seat it should be turned off and not used.

Brake line popped causing my 2003 yukon xl to rear end a car stopped at a light at 30 mph glad i am not seriously injured scariest thing that ever happened in my life not being able to stop and had plenty of room. Time for a class action suit if not one already in place. This is lives people!

Car pulled in front of me, had to apply maximum braking effort.pedal went to the floor and the truck gradually slowed.further attempts to drive and brake were futile.

Traveling at 25 mph, the brakes were applied and the pedal went all of the way to the floor.pumping the brakes helped stop the vehicle.the vehicle was driven a short distant to the nearest dealer.upon their inspection, they stated the brake lines had corroded and the fluid had leaked out.fortunately the vehicle was traveling at a low rate of speed and traffic was not in the way at the time of failure.

Brake failed when applied.mechanic said line is rusted causing leak.

Brake failure due to rusted through line. Upon diagnosis all lines rusted and require replacement. Had to push pedal all the way to floor hard to come to soft stop.

I was driving our 2003 gmc yukon xl home and the brakes went the floor, let me tell you this is very scary especially with such a large vehicle.luckily i was a block away and made it home pumping the brakes.the brake lines broke just above the rear axle.both lines come out of a connector and they were very severely rusty, it is tough to see unless you remove the spare tire.if you look at the same brake lines that run across the rear axle, they look fine.don't let that fool you, they may be very rusty up farther where you can't see.doesn't make sense to me, but we also lost our brakes with no warning in our 2002 gmc yukon.this has happened with 2/2 gmc from 2002 and 2003 there must be many others and accidents from this happening, its a very fast loss of brake fluid with no warning.gm has to do something about this if they want our business again.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that the braking system alarm engaged as the warning lamp illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the brake control module was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 55,000.

Brake failure due to leak from rusted out brake line under driver seat area and loss of brake fluid.

My wife was driving our kids in the neighborhood for halloween.there were lots of people and small children walking from house to house.she went to put the brakes on an the truck would not stop.she was able to blow the horn and avoid hitting anyone and came to a stop after rolling through a stop sign.i inspected the brake lines.the brake line that goes above the rear driver side tire is completely rusted and failed.after further inspection all of the brake lines will need to be replaced to avoid this from happening again.this should be recalled.you can bet if someone was injured this would be a much bigger problem.why do we have to wait for someone to be killed from poor design and poor materials?

I was driving onthe highway at approx. 60 mph... When all of a sudden i heard a chiming noise and my "service brake system" alert came on! i then attempted to slow down and to my unfortunate discovery the brake pedal went straight to the floor. (scary) i let the vehicle coast a bit to slow down and tried pumping my brakes.. Now please keep in mind i was driving with my 2 children in the back seat. (scarier)i was able to slowly stop and pull over. I discovered the rear brake line was leaking.. Long story short my husband came and was able to drive it home.. But basically by the grace of god!!! i did some researching- calling a few different dealership and service locations and was told it would cost anywhere from $1,500 to $600.00 to have the lines replaced, ect.i am furious that gm is trying to throw this on the consumer stating this was a "maintenance issue"... I have read numerous stories of people (real people) having this same problem, but gm wants to say this is out fault!!?!?!?no way... Is there any recourse? thank god we did not have an accident.*my husband had a friend of his who works on vehicles take a look and stated the lines were completely rusted and corroded!!*

I started my truck.i applied the brakes and shifted into drive.i began to roll forward, then applied my brakes prior to exiting my driveway.the brake pedal went to the floor, the brake service light came on and the truck continued forward.i had to pump the brakes to come to a stop.i pulled the truck over and observed brake fluid all over the street.i crawled under the truck and saw that the brake line was rusted and that it burst somewhere in the middle of the truck on the driver's side.

I had a panic stop while driving my suv, and the brake pedal went to the floor, offering almost no braking ability.this caused me to sharply swerve around the car in front of me, drive through a red light at a busy intersection into oncoming traffic, and find a safe place to land.i had my 11 year old daughter and 9 year old son with me, this could have been deadly.

Total brake failure, no brakes.steel brake line rusted through on frame rail near gas tank causing fluid container to empty completely.no advanced warning lamp or indication of failure.to replace the line, the fuel tank must be removed.dealer charge $800.00 and up.

On 1/4/14 my wife was sitting in the drive thru lane and when she went to put the truck in drive the pedal went all the way to the floor.had it towed and found a rusted and leaking brake line.second incident on 2/1/14 while driving and approaching a red light i applied the brakes and the pedal went all the way to the floor.i pumped the brakes enough to where i got the vehicle stopped after going through the intersection without being hit.i got it off the road and had it towed once again.another brake line had burst and fluid leaked out.the mechanic states that all of the brakes lines are rusted, some more than others so i am having all of the lines replaced.some type of recall needs to be done as i am reading on line of other owners having problems with premature rusting.two lines leaking within one month is unacceptable.

I was driven my vehicle and my abs and service brake system light came on and the vehicle wouldn't stop. I ran off the road into a field my pads and brake fluid is good. I check online and discovered recalls on this make and model year of this vehicle. The recall # is 75641 wheel cap cover hub recall date dec 17,2007. Also the wasrecall on service brakes hydraulic recall # 42659 recall date feb 2004. I contacted gmc 800# and spoke with [xxx] his agent i.d # [xxx] he had a specialist contact me and he gave me reference# of[xxx]. I went local gmc spoke with a[xxx] and gmc specialist [xxx] don't refuse to inspect without a charge. My suv doing the same as recall stated they said no recalls on this vehicle.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The brakes failed while driving on a city street causing my vehicle to nearly strike a number of children at a crosswalk. After examination by a mechanic, it was determined that the brake line had corroded and burst under pressure. I have received no notice of this potential failure from gmc even though it has been investigated by the nhtsa. Shouldn't the manufacturer have an obligation to repair this potentially lethal problem? ata minimum i feel that gmc and/or the nhtsa have a moral obligation to notify owners of affected vehicles that they are driving a potentially deadly vehicle.

Brake lines under drivers seat are completely rusted through. Vehicle is garage kept and seems to be experiencing excessive rust on brake lines. While driving vehicle brake pedal went to the floor almost causing me to have an accident. My family and i own and have owned numerous gm products and we're very disappointed with this safety hazard not being addressed by gm. Maybe it's time to shop elsewhere...

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that while exiting a parking space with the brakes slightly depressed, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard abnormally. The brake warning light was also illuminated. The vehicle was then driven to the dealer and as he parked, all of the braking fluid leaked. The dealer inspected the brake line and noticed corrosion. The dealer replaced the brake line at the owners expense. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 55,000.

Rear brake line failure. Line was rusted through and leaking brake fluid. Now (feb 2012) another line is leaking brake fluid, this time in the front portion of the vehicle.

It was raining, i exited i95 on to rt 321 in south carolina, decelerating speed about 40 mph on exit ramp to the right, when car in front abruptly applied brakes, i did same, and vehicle went in to skid.kept foot on brakes, no alb engagement.vehicle slide off road, and tires hit grave and vehicle spun 180 degrees comin to rest on precipice of cliff.we were nearly killed.the alb did not engage.the dealer said he "tested"... And siad they were fine??how did he test on dry pavement that day?i have gotten nothing but lip service from the dealer and gm customer service.there is a serious design flaw in the alb of this vehicle, or an intermittent flaw.. Who knows how many people have died not living to tell the story about this design flaw. Gm is denying any problem and is of no help.this in my opinion is a major issue, possibly with all these alb systems.i need some help on getting my car recalled and fixed.i read your "salt state" recall, but it it much larger than that.it is a flaw with all these vehicles. The vehicle i have is a 2003 yukon xl

Very poor brakes on this 2003 gmc yukon xl. Brakes feel very spongy and soft, takes much effort to stop vehicle. Vehicle currently has 7989 miles on the odometer and this condition was not present when it was first purchased. Extremely unhappy with the stopping ability of this vehicle.

Poor braking.2)poor steering/ride control.3)vehicle shifts-jumps intermittently/momentary loss of control twice.4)vehicle spun out of control on ramp to rt 25 bourne ma,outcome details :

We purchased our yukon out of the showroom.it has quad steering, a feature we paid extra with this vehicle.about a week after we had the vehicle, the quad steering would drop out of quad mode as indicated by the light on the dashboard, as well as the feel of the drive, and on occasion not lock into position either.the wheels would then turn sideways and we temporary lose control of the vehicle until we pull over to straighten out the wheels in order to lock them in position.we've since had the vehicle into the dealership about 5 or 6 times with the same complaint.the dealership has attempted to repair on many occasion, however it continues to be unreliable. We are very concerned that this vehicle is going to crash someday because of this problem... Of which is unexpected and dangerous.after great care of this vehicle, failure of the quad feature continues to be a serious unresolved defect.the impact on our schedule to drop the vehicle off for several days, rent a car, and still have no solid repair is very upsetting and becoming a hardship.

While driving up a mountain intermediate steering shaft bolt became loose, and was just 3 turns from falling off. Consumer contacted the manufacturer, and they listened, but did absolutely nothing. Consumer later filed a complaint with the bbb. Vehicle was equipped with 4 ply tires which was unacceptable for this type of vehicle.

At 32,652 the intermediate shaft had to be replaced. We have had lots of problems with this vehicle and have not owned it for a year! between the monthly truck payments and repairs we could have put a nice down payment on a second house and kept the reliable truck we traded this one for!!

At aprox 6000 miles vehicle started making a loud squeeling noise every time vehicle was turned to the left. On first visit to dealer was told that some of them do this and there's nothing they can do. On second visit for same concern they put a "conditioner" in the steering gear box. On third visit i was told there was nothing else they could do. The avm (area vehicle manager) declined to make the repair. Gmc customer assistance was useless. Took the vehicle to another dealer. They replaced the steering gear box. Problem has not reoccured. Was told by dealer that this has happened before and that the noise is caused by a pressure relief valve in the steering gear boxrelieving pressure. This has happened to one other person that i know of.

At 45729 miles we had to have the gear box replaced at the cost of $1044. Have been told by other mechanics a gear box is a part that is seldom replaced on any vehicle. I find it ridiculous to have to spend so much money on repairs for a newer vehicle especially when the vehicle cost was over $31000.

2003 gmc yukon xl, having a clanking noise when turning right. Also, steering wheel vibration as if something is loose in the steering mechanism underneath in front.took suv in on september 21,2004. Dealer stated "found crossmember bolts binding and making noise. Smoothed out mounting holes and secured. No further noise heard. Road tested and felt vibration at 35-45. Found steering shaft needs replaced part on backorder. Will contact for return apt". Called on 11/09/04 and was told steering shaft was still on backorder and that they were waiting for approx. 23 shafts which other service advisors needed also to replace out defective shafts. Front tires are "cupping" on inside shoulders.

2003 gmc yukon xl has been experiencing multiple problems with front suspension and steering column since it was new.at approx. 4,000 miles, took to dealer for thumping/popping sound that could be felt in steering column when turning, accelerating, stopping or over a speed bump.dealer packed intermediate steering shaft with grease.did not work.took back to dealer.dealer replaced intermediate shaft.nothing more felt in steering column. At approx. 12,500 miles took yukon back to dealer to remedy popping noise and unusual wear/feathering on inside tread of f. Tires. Dealer could not duplicate noise. Said alignment was off and not covered by warranty. Had to pay for alignment/rotation. Wife took vehicle back when tech. Was available to ride along.wife was able to get yukon to duplicate noise with tech. In vehicle.tsb said to remove bolts from cross member, bore bolt holes, lubricate, replace and torque.didn't get off of the lot before noise returned.now at 25,000 miles, after more unusual tire wear and the unresolved popping noise, took yukon back at dealership.service manager ordered washers as per new tsb for permanent fix of popping noise and is experimenting with alignment tolerances.just drove 10 feet out of service area parking lot and popping noise is exactly the same.have to take it back in on monday 08/08/05so the service manager can ride along to observe problem.talked to a front end specialist at work and he indicated that we are experiencing same problems with our 2000 & up g.m. Fleet vehicles.(100+)said gm rep came to inspect, noted the problem and left.front-end specialist said that there is a defect in gm torsion bar suspension system that is causing most of these problems but gm reps will not acknowledge or remedy.

My new 2003 yukon xl has an absolutely intolerable cab reverberation problem ! this defect causes the driver and passengers a thumping ear pain ! i literally cannot drive 1 block without a thumping sensation in my ears. This vehicle was left at the dealer for 4 days, only to be told that the service department could not fix the problem ! of course, i was not satisfied ! this vehicle was only two weeks old ! i was informed by the service department that i would have to live with this until the gm engineers could find a fix. I was also informed that this was not high on the list of problems to solve ! the dealership refused to help me at all. The sales department would not take the vehicle back. I called gm who has sent me to one department after another for the past two weeks. Still no resolution! upon notifying gm that i needed to seek a doctors care for the unbearable ear pain when driving this vehicle, i was sent to the department for complaint allegations. This department simply wanted to access their risks of loss ! still nothing resolved. I have asked gm to simply " do the right thing ". I don't think that this issue should come down to any type of law suit. However, it appears at this point, that a law suit may indeed be the only way to get the matter resolved. I propose to the nhtsa that this defect ( in all 2003 suburban and yukon xl models ) should warrant an investigation as to possible recall.as you can tell, i am very upset at the poor quality of customer service i have received from brown and wood dealership in greeneville, nc andgm. It appears that neither party wishes to be responsible.cyndi bowen .*nlm

When driving the vehicle at highway speeds there is a constant vibration.

I have a 2003 gmc yukon xl. It is raining inside of my truck on the passenger side and my windows are up. My truck is very wet on inside.

Concerned about the service notice on my dic with the auto ride suspension system. P0660 code detection. No indication of what the condition of the system is inoperable and if the vehicle is in a safe mode until repairs or replacement of parts are made.currently the vehicle haslocked the air ride suspension to which the compressor will not activate. Shocks are in a maintained pressure to which the vehicle is operated in a firm pressure making a solid ride as if the vehicle would be if in tow mode.not sure if the characteristics of the handling are effective.

I have a gmc yukon and the wheel bearings in both sides have went out. I heard that the h2 hummer has a recall on its wheel bearing. How come the yukon doesn't? i heard of other yukons having the same problem. Is this a chevy problem? my wheel almost came off of my vehicle going down the highway. The mechanic said the only thing that was keeping it on was the brake caliper. I sure hope nobody gets hurt over saving a couple of dollars, please there needs to be a warning and possibly a recall for this problem.

There was a loud noise coming from the left front wheel - only while driving at highway speeds.the dealership replaced the left front hub and bearing for $550.

Vibration of steering wheel and pedals at idle on 2003 gmc yukon xl 5.3l. Dealer states cleaning throttle body will fix, had dealer do cleaning still idles rough and still vibrates, dealer then states its a characteristic of the vehicle.

Our yukon xl has a severe reverberation inside the cabin that is accentuated when going over bumps or accelerating up hills.we have gone to the dealer twice and they are currently claiming that it is because the cabin is so long.after 15 minutes in the vehicle it becomes annoying to intolerable.

2003 yukon xl speedometer starting at 70 mph standing still.safety issue, cannot determine how fast you are going.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon xl. The contact stated that while traveling 30 mph, the rear window detached from the vehicle abnormally. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer.
