My dash is cracked in 2 places.it is cracked on the driver side in front of the steering wheel. The crack is about 3 inches long.the other one is on the passenger side goes all the way to the upper left corner of the passenger side aribag.the whole dash rattles now when driving down the road.i am concerned about my family's safety since they are right on the passenger air bagand over the steering column.
Takata air bags. Gmc tustin has been saying they do not have parts "yet" since may 2016. When will parts be available? clearly gmc just don't want to spend the money to keep it's customers safe. What do we do to get new safe airbags installed??
Takata recall. We have been attempting to have the airbags replaced by gmc since being notified of the recall and were told they were not available yet to keep checking back. On 10/25/2017 schumacher gmc stated they will never be able to repair or replace the airbags and that it decreases the trade in value by $6000-$7000 because they cannot certify the vehicle. We fear for our safety driving this vehicle and has financially restricted us from moving forward on purchasing a new vehicle.
The upper dash has two cracks next to the passengers airbag opening. I cannot get these cracks repaired because that may interfere with the operation of the airbag. I am reporting this because i cannot find out if the broken, cracked upper dash could also interfere with the operation of the airbag. I have contacted gmc customer service and they open case # 8-1633101708 but have not offered to fix or replace the upper dash.
Dashboard is cracking at corners of the safety bags.normal vibration has caused the cracks in the dashboard to extend over the instrument panel.i am concerned about the safety of the crash bags and the instrument cluster due to the cracks.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated that there was premature deterioration and cracking on the dashboard from the middle to the driver's side. The dealer was notified (bentley buick gmc, 2120 drake ave sw, huntsville, al 35805, 1-(256) 536-2475). The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The remedy and part had not been available since mid may of 2016 pertaining to the air bag recall. The failure mileage was not available. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
I started noticing a rattle when driving my 2009 gmc yukon denali, but could not determine where it was coming from. Finally discovered that a crack had occurred in my passenger side dash above the air bag in the top left corner, and the rattle i was hearing was from the broken plastic. I have found numerous incidents online about this problem, so i know this is not unique to my vehicle and that gmc is aware of it but has chosen to ignore it. This manufacturing flaw leaves one to question how safe the passenger airbag is and whether or not it will work properly. I was involved in an accident in 2005 where my driver air bag module (not a gm vehicle) was knocked out of the steering wheel by a piece of iron coming through the windshield, and it never deployed. It would stand to reason that if the support area around the module is weakened by something like a crack, that the air bag may not deploy as designed, possibly sending the module or fragments of the module into the vehicle. We have been told that air bags are designed to protect us in an accident, but they can't protect us if they never deploy or if we are hit by flying module metal because of general motors design flaw that they have refused to take action on. My family has owned 6 different gm vehicles over the last 10 years, but their choice to ignore this potential fatal flaw has me looking elsewhere. I do not want myself or any of my family members to be one of the statistics that it is going to take to get this problem taken care of.
Takata recall.i contacted west point buick gmc in houston and they informed me that they can't get the airbags and that they have no clue when they will.they told me over a year ago when i called them and they told me the samei am trying to get my airbags done but nobody seems to want to help.thank you
I am concerned of the safety of me and my passengers. Over 1 year and still no resolution. I keep on being told call back and call back. Why so long to replace? the dash board has cracked and broken due to poor quality and many owners have dashboard issues.
Dash started cracking on drivers side. I am worried when the airbag is released fragments might fly into my eyes and face. I have noticed that there are a lot of complaints on this but do no see a recall. I am hoping gmc can cover the cost to replace these.
Takata recall - received notice of takata chapter 11 filing today. Gmc investigation to have been completed by end of august 2017; to date nothing; have spoken with dealership and they have heard nothing
I purchased a gm certified vehicle on september 5, 2014. On october 31, 2014 i was driving and heard a noise near the passenger dash. I looked and noticed a crack appeared on the dashboard at the airbag. The crack is about 3 inches long and runs from the edge of the dash to the airbag. The crack meets the cut out where the airbag is. I have made numerous attempts to contact gm customer care about this issue and the safety concerns i have as it relates to this crack leading to the airbag. Each time i contact gm they do not seems too concerned and tell me it is my responsibility to replace the entire dash. I see this crack as a safety issue because if the airbag were to deploy the crack could possibly puncture the airbag due to the location or send sharp plastic flying potentially into the passenger's eye. This issue is alarming because this is a very common problem in 2007-2009 gm vehicles. Gm is not wanting to issue a recall, however, this problem occurs in almost all vehicles of this type. I am unhappy about the response i have gotten from gm customer care and would like for you to be aware of the situation. I have a photograph that i would be willing to provide to you if you would like to see the crack and location. Thank you.
At 80,000 miles i discovered that my dash is cracked on the passenger side. I have also discovered that this is a very well known and common problem with gm vehicles and that it is potentially dangerous to passengers if the crack (that is sharp plastic) is to cut or rupture the airbag in the case of an accident. My vehicle has always been garage kept and never kept outside. This is a huge gm problem and there are thousands that need this fixed. There are even facebook groups with thousands upon thousands of people that have had the same problem across multiple vehicles. This crack literally happened out of no where.
While driving on the highway my wife and i heard a pop and shorty after that some rattling. We looked and found that the dashboard had cracked above the instrument cluster. The dash has since cracked in the middle of the dash and right at the corner of the passenger airbag. We are concerned that it would seriously hurt a passenger if th airbag was deployed. There are alot of complaints about this defect and i would appreciate if gm would stand behind their vehicles. The service writer at the dealership told me if it was his he would just pit a dash cover on it. That is not acceptable and i dont drive my vehicles like that. I have bought about 25 gm's in my life so i have been loyal even thru the bad times. Gm should pay to fix this.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon denali. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The carl black chevrolet, buick, gmc dealer (11500 e colonial dr, orlando, fl 32817) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Takata recall - called dealers in phx area and called gm.there are no parts available to replace the passenger airbag that has been recalled. Notice has been received since 2016
The problem on my 2009 yukon, in less then 2 weeks my dashboard cracked in 3 places. 2 by the air bags and 1 by the steering column. I'm thinking the ones by the air bags are a safety problem.if the air bags would happen to go off , with the cracked dashboard. Will the dash explode in to pieces, like shrapnel. Cause more damage to human life? this should be a safety recall. It stays under a breezeway when not in use. We where driving an herd a pop in the dash. Then the next thing we know we have 3 cracks. I know i'm not the only one with this problem..
Cracks in dashboard - this is my 2nd dashboard with cracks again. Definite flaw with design/materials.
Crack on dashboard connected to where air bag.
While driving, i started hearing strange rattling noises from the dashboard. We i inspected the dash board, i noticed it was cracked by the upper left corner of the passenger side airbag on both sides. I'm concerned for my family's safety. Should the airbag deploy, the cracked dashboard will most likely explode, possibly causing more injury than the airbag was designed to avoid. This appears to be a common complaint from gm customers. While i recently paid to have my dash replaced, i'm hoping gm will issue a recall to address this issue and i will be reimbursed for repairing this defect.
A crack had appeared on the dashboard going to the direction of the airbag.i had attempted to consult with the local gmc dealership that stated it's no threat and basically sent me on my way.it's been a year later and now not only has it cracked in that one area but i have 2 additional cracks and the dash has separated approx. 1/2" at the airbag.it seriously concerns me considering i have custody of my grandchildren (11 & 9) who are riding in this vehicle 99.5% of the time.i'm deathly afraid the airbag is either going to deploy on its own or worse not deploy if/when it's needed.
While i was driving, i was hearing strange cracking.noises from the dashboard for 2 days. Then i looked at the top of the dashboard, and it was cracked by the upper left corner of the passenger side airbag and behind the steering wheel. Should the airbag be deployed, the cracked dashboard will explode, possibly causing more injury than the airbag was designed to avoid. Hopefully, gmc will address this in a recall.
Cracks in dashboard. Near passenger airbag, which is under recall. Happening to so many of us. Please help!!https://m.facebook.com/groups/gmdashcrack/
Our 2009 gmc yukon denali was totaled in a crash. The battery was destroyed ,cutting all electrical power to the vehicle. The doors, which automatically lock when in drive, were locked, and in her confusion could not exit the vehicle. The communications equipment was also useless. There needs to be a backup battery in a less vulnerable location.
Vehicle does not start because of dead battery. Vehicle taken to the dealer. Dealer states battery is fine. On the second incident a new battery is purchased. Dealer continues to state of not seeing an issue. The vehicle has not started on three other occasions. Five times total in a two year period. The dealer does not see anything wrong. To cope with the issue we have bought a new battery and a battery jump starter. We should not have to do this for a vehicle. Our vehicle is a normal gmc yukon denali. We have not added any aftermarket parts. We feel this should be part of a recall in which the manufacturer needs address and fix at their cost.
The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated the vehicle was parked in the garage for 20 hours when it caught fire. The fire started in the electrical fuse box. The vehicle was pushed out of the garage while it was on fire and extinguished by the contact. The fire department was contacted also assist with extinguishing the fire. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company. There were no injuries.a fire report was filed. The dealer was contacted but refused to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic but due to the delay of a part from the dealer, the vehicle repair would be delayed. The manufacturer was contacted but no one could answer her questions transferring her from one department to another. The vehicle was not completely repaired. The failure mileage was 14,000.
The past few days while driving on interstate and highways at all different speeds, i have experienced my radio powering off and on every few minutes, the warning light to have my tire pressure serviced, traction control light has lit up and a stabilitrak warning message.i am concerned about the safety of my vehicle. What if my vehicle totally shuts down while i am driving? there are no recalls according to gmc's website. I also want to report that my dashboard is cracked and starting to separate, which worries me since the crack is near my airbags, and cracked over my steering column. Gmc has no recall for this either and i have learned that it's a very common problem with owner's of yukons and tahoes around my year model. I have 119k miles on my vehicle so i am sure gmc will not repair anything unless i pay for it myself, which doesn't seem right to me, especially when i feel my family's safety is at risk.
The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon denali. When the contact started the vehicle, he noticed that the check engine warning light illuminated; the failure was similar to recall 09v154000 (fuel system, gasoline). He was able to reset the light and it turned off; however, the next day the contact was traveling approximately 50 mph when the check engine warning light illuminated again. Shortly after, the vehicle stalled and was towed to an authorized dealer. The dealer performed a diagnostic test and stated that the fuel pump control module had a shortage and replaced the module. The manufacturer was notified who stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The current and failure mileages were 80,272.
The contact owns a 2009 yukon denali.the contact stated the vehicle would independently lock and once the vehicle was locked, the contact was unable to open any of the doors with the keyless entry or manually. The contact would then call a towing company to come and unlock the vehicle. In addition, the rear door hatch would open and close independently. The vehicle was taken to the deale where the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 85,000. The vin was not available.
The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated that the vehicle locks were not operating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the door sensors were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no other assistance. The failure mileage was 49,928. And the current mileage was 49,992.
Left rear seat belt fails to extract. Was told by dealer that the lock bar was seized up and could not be released and that the entire seatbelt would have to be replaced. This is only a 6 year old vehicle and at 6'4 270 i don't have anyone ever sit behind me. This is probably the least used seatbelt in my yukon. . safety devices such as seat belts & air bags should never fail ever ! if they do they should be replaced at no charge due to poor design. I just thank god it didn't malfunction during an accident. Gmc's seat belt design needs to be redesigned.
The dash where the passenger airbag and above the instrument panel cracked.when i was searching to find a repair shop near me, i came across several blogs (http://repairpal.com/the-upper-dash-may-crack-554 and http://www.carcomplaints.com/gmc/yukon/2009/accessories-interior/cracked_dashboard.shtml) many people complaining of the exact cracks.when i called gmc they explained any recall has to be processed through this association, which i certainly wasn't aware of, and i do not think the other people were either because it's an approximately $1,600 repair at the dealership, and people have paid it.i really think this is an issue that should be rectified through gmc, so if this one complaint is not enough, please give me an opportunity to find others with the same issue to file a complaint as well.thank you!

When not in use my auto is stored inside an attached garage. One morning when i enter the vehicle to go to work i notice a crack on the dash above the glove box. It was not there the day before. No one had been in the vehicle except me and that was the day before to drive to work and to drive home. It sat in the garage overnight and the crack was noticed the next morning.
My dash has cracked in two places. One on drivers side the other on passenger side close to airbag leaving a hole. Nothing had been placed on the dashboard it just cracked during the summer.

The contact owns a 2009 gmc yukon denali. While driving at an unknown speed, a rattling noise emitted from the center of the instrument panel. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact discovered a crack from the instrument panel leading down to the passenger side air bag. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.
Upper dash board cracking severely above the instrument panel as well as the plastic "clips" that hold the dash board in place broken loose. This will be the second time i've had to replace the dashboard (1st time under warranty - broken plastic clips). The crack just suddenly appeared after i heard some rattling in and around the center of the dash board. Didn't notice until there was a 6" crack. Could possibly hinder steering column if plastic pieces from the crack fall into the area. Plastic shards could pose dangerous if accident were to occur. Numerous complaints and concerns online about this issue. Others report cracks by passenger airbag.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.
The outer door handle on the drivers door and front passenger door are coming off the vehicle.
2009 yukon denali...on 2 separate occasions while attempting to open vehicle using external door handles, the front passenger side door handle & rear driver's side door handle came off.these are the chrome plated models.i was told by multiple sales personnel, service techs, & service managers that this is a common problem (apparently there is some sort of issue with the chrome plated models).i also have friends with similar models- yukon & tahoe that have experienced the same issue.some have replaced all 4 door handles.i fear that i will be replacing the remaining door handles in the near future.i have an extended warranty but was told that it is not covered.of course they consider this a cosmetic issue & not a safety issue so i truly doubt that there will be a recall.i have also seen on forums that this is a very common problem among gmc yukon & chevy tahoe owners starting around the 2007 model year.
Door handles are faulty, sometimes they will not open the door and other times you cannot shut the door because, the door handle gets stuck.
I am concerned of the safety of me and my passengers. Over 1 year and still no resolution. I keep on being told call back and call back. Why so long to replace? the dash board has cracked and broken due to poor quality and many owners have dashboard issues.
While driving my vehicle i heard a crack and discovered a significant crack in the dashboard in front of the instrument panel. There was also a crack in front of the passenger side airbag which is a safety hazard in the event of airbag deployment
After a recent trip to atlanta, i noticed a crack in the dash on the passenger side.this crack is where the airbag is located.now i have noticed the center of the dash is collapsing in especially on warm days.nothing has been on the dashboard that would have created this crack.i fear that the dash may collapse all the way in or became a projectile in the event of a crash, especially if the air bag is deployed.
My dash cracked in several areas, in front of steering wheel and passenger side.long growing cracks that are probably affecting air bag deployment.this car has always been kept in the garage!! no reason for it to crack and many others have had the same complaints.
My dash started cracking on the driver side in front of the steering wheel. The crack is now about 2 inches long vertical to the steering wheel. I started contacting upholstery repair shops and found out this is a common problem with these vehicles. I'm so disappointed because it has been so dependable but this dash problem needs to be fixed in future models as well as recalled for the 2009 yukon denali.

To whom it may concern, i' am submitting this correspondence in reference to numerous cracks on my dashboard on the described vehicle.more importantly, the cracks are getting worse especially around the passenger side air bag, which is now causing the air bag cover to bulge, causing concern for me and my family in the event of an accident.your attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.thank you
Dash cracked from driver side all the way over to airbags on passenger side.dash shards could spray the inside of vehicle should the airbags deploy
