Since 2010, my airbag light has come on 5 times. 3 out of the 5 times, i have had to replace a sensor which typically costs approx $400-450. The other two times, the dealership was able to reset. I am now in the position of having to spend another $450 for another new sensor in order to turn off the airbag light or else i cannot pass inspection. I have asked for assistance from gm and the dealership. But, because the light comes on just after one year of replacing a sensor, the work is no longer under dealership warranty. I have filed a case with gm asking for assistance so that i can get the car inspected and continue driving the car. They have said that they cannot assist. They have left me with very few options. I can pay another $450 in order for my car to be inspected, or not drive the car again. The air bag is an important safety feature. Based on all of the other complaints online, this problem is recurring and appears to be a manufacturer's defect. The disturbing thing about this issue is that i am not sure if the airbag actually is in working order.

The airbag error lights are on. Mechanic says the front airbag sensors went bad. The horn does not work. The dash lights are burnt out. Many of the steering wheel control button lights are burnt out.the rear windshield wiper motor is burnt out. The fuel pump makes vibrating noises.

The contact owns a 2005 gmc yukon denali. While driving various speeds, the contact rear ended another vehicle. The air bag deployed, but failed to inflate. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was driven from the scene and awaiting repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

My vehicle will not start most of the time...it just makes a clicking sound.i have taken to the dealership several times to be repaired.however, the problems still has not been resolved.

My 2005 gmc yukon denali rear tailgate / hatch is locked and the electronic lock motivator will not open the rear tailgate / hatch.there is no key nor manual way to open rear tailgate / hatch. The dealer said that they were not sure what it would cost to fix although it would be no more than $450.00. Since this vehicle has three rows of seats there is no manual way to open this rear tailgate / hatch for the passengers in the third row of seats to get out in case of an emergency.the manufacturer should have included an alternate way to open this hatch for emergency's. Whether it would be a key from the outside or a door handle on the inside. We feel that type of vehicle should be reviewed and it should include various years of this gmc vehicle, the chevrolet tahoe, and the chevrolet suburban which have the same setup for this safety reason.thank you for your assistance and review of this safety issue.

The speedometer in my gmc yukon denali is not working properly.

I was driving on the 55 freeway, and all of a sudden my electrical gps, radio, and power turned off for approx. 5 sec. And the dash rebooted, and radio remained off, and the car was still cruising, but losing speed. I put the car in neutral and had to restart while cruising. It is not the first time this has happened. Spoke to gmc parts dept. On the phone, and he stated there is no recall for this vehicle.this has happened approx. 5 times. I shared that information to the parts dept. And he stated that they could do a diagnostic that would cost a pretty hi amount to check, and if nothing come out of iti asked. Then he stated nothing.

I started having problems with my speedometer cluster about 1 year after purchase. It worked most of the time so didn't take it in for repair under my warranty. After 3 years it stopped working altogether but i was no longer under warranty. I called the dealer to see if there was a recall and he said there was but i had too many miles on the vehicle to qualify. So i have been driving without a working speedometer for the past two years.

Passenger headlight (low beam) has been replaced twice. Intermittently goes on and off. Same with 2 out of 3 brake lights. Doesn't matter how many times we replace the bulbs, we keep having the same problem. Is gmc going to pay my ticket when i get pulled over?

June 16, 2005 my wife and i purchased a new 2005 gmc yukon denali. Excited to have our new vehicle we figured everything must work, it's new. We found out the next day non of the functions in the memory package worked. We called the salesman who insisted we were not operating it correctly. The daytime running lights also did not work. I took the truck back to the dealer on 6/20/05 and the salesman took in into service after he could not figure it out. Service did not know what was wrong either. Now our brand new 40+ thousand dollar truck is sitting at jkoons pontiac-gmc in virginia and they have no clue whats wrong.

Speedometer on 2005 yukon denali is inoperable and erratic. Jumps from 20-120mph and back. Has never read 0mph in park, only 20mph or more..never know my true speed when driving because the needle fluctuates. Has also read 90mph while sitting at a red light -scared for my safety, and others.

Speedometer does not show correct speed all the time.sometimes registers 0 mph or possibly 100 mph at any given time.

Gmc 2009 denali speedometer rest on 120mph at all times. Vehicle seems to rev up during driving at times. Speedometer moves at will sometimes remaining at 0mph.

It appears in my investigating this through online searches and forums, there are 1000's of gm vehicles that have had their speedometers quit working and is quite a money maker for gm and their dealerships, since they 'have' to do it so it can be reprogrammed for mileage authenticity!with these 1000's of gm vehicles having faulty speedometers, or other faulty gauges...mine is stuck on 120mph!!definitely a safety issue when u really don't have any idea how fast you are going!! i think this is something they are well aware of, and not because of normal use and wear!!my 2005 gmc yukon denali would cost $510 + tax and have to b sent away to b repaired.... Please investigate this and add this to all the other problems gm is having and let's not put it to the consumer like they have and are doing!thank you!!

For approx8 months my speedometer has not work properly.as i'm driving the "zero" may be anywhere from real zero to 120 mph.it is very difficult due to the sensitivity of the rpm gauge to tell me exact speed.currently i drive with a garman that tells me how fast i'm going.i've found lots of information related to speedometer issues on 2005 gms yukon denali.the dealership says there was a recall but the speedometer but i had exceeded the mileage.what difference does that make?the dealership says it would be about $350 dollars to fix the problem.i want to know what the problem is but diagnostics also carry a pretty hefty fee.

The contact owns a 2005 gmc yukon denali. While the vehicle was parked the contact noticed the gear indicator light on the instrument panel was not functioning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer when the contact noticed the light was dim. The dealer could not diagnose the failure because the vehicle had not completely shut off. The light completely turned off and was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

My speedometer stopped working.about 4 months ago it started skipping.it would stay stuck on 60mph no matter if i was going 10mph or 75mph.now the gauge is stuck all the way to the right and doesn't move at all!

Speedometer sporadically fails to indicate actual speed or zero. It sometimes locks up aspecific speed and does not move when speed changes. Sometimes no speed indication at all..

Speedometer failure on my 2005 yukon denali.needle gets stuck and wont return to normal position.auto manufacturers have been installing speedometers in cars for over 100 years.vehicle is only 3 years old and has 50,000 miles.gmc wont recall because not enough people have complained, but yet 03-05were recalled in the same model.i feel this creates a costly repair people shouldn't have to make on such new vehicles and should be part of a safety recall.

I have had problems with my 2005 denali shifting. I go to stop and then take off and it acts like its slipping and then all of sudden it grabs with a clunk. This has happen at all times of it being driven. I have taken it in to the dealer put unless they can duplicate it then they cant fix it. Well gm will not pay them for warranty work unless. Now it has gotten to the point that it made a loud clunk and then was slipping as you pushed the gas, so right then we took it to the dealer so they could drive it. The transmission tech drove it and look at the trans fluid and it was 1 1/2 qts low. No leaks ever and it has been in to the dealer at least 5 times and 3 in the last 2 1/2 months and the fluids, i hope were good. Tech topped it off and it shifted fine for the weekend. Then the next monday it started slipping and hardly accelerating again. Took it back in and the tech checked code and it had some torque converter codes. They replaced a wiring harness in the transmission. I work for a couple of days then it started again. We took it back in and the service dept. Called gm and they had them change the ignition sw (module i think). I will post code and exact when i get the info from the dealer. I will see if this fixes it.

Randomly when i would drive my vehicle, the traction control would just turn on in my car whether i was driving fast or slow.i could be driving steady without stopping on the highway without any rhyme or reason.i specifically went to a gm dealership to fix the problem and they diagnosed and said it would be $529.00.i went forward with fixing the car and the next morning my car was not fixed.since the dealership has disengaged my traction control and abs and said to fix my car now would be $1500.i now am driving a very unsafe vehicle and out $500 and not sure what to do to fix my vehicle which is a huge safety matter?i am looking for assistance in getting my money back from the dealership and going to one that is reputable since gm said that the dealership is privately owned and they can not help me.

Rear left side passenger seat belt release button very hard to unlock can cause a passenger in an emergency to be trapped. Dealer states gm has no safety warranty on any seat belt products. Tps sensor indicator has shown up intermittently on the cluster had take to dealer numerous times and they never seem to find any problems was reading online possible cluster issue dealer could not resolve since vehicle purchase. Power train manual transmission shift pattern indicator light completely out there is a recall id #41359 as of feb 14 2005 for vehicles with this problem making it impossible to see what gear vehicle is in and could cause injury. Dealer is suppose to reprogram the instrument panel cluster free of charge. Taken to dealer was told they cant do anything about it just concern about safety and recall that needs to be looked at. Thank you.

It was determined that the drivers side exhaust manifold bolts were snapped off from the left side of the engine and it was only being held on by 2 of the original bolts.this could have fully broken off while the vehicle was in motion and jammed into my steering shaft!after a very simple google search about gm 6.0 engine exhaust bolts snapping off, i discovered this has happened to thousands of engines of the 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0 size.

Ever since i bought it in oct 2004, i felt this jumping of the truck after i stopped and started to accelerate it would do this, i called in and they told me that maybe because it was new, it may be doing that , i took it in last week because the engine light was lit and there was a strange burning smell on , it and there was also the recall of the back seats, and a light sensor loose, it was returned to me after a few days, and they said that it was because the gas cap was loose? that was the worst excuse that i have heard,i am still having that problem, but i just don't want to take it anymore because they are going to come out with the some lame excuse , and still have the problem.

I am one of the many reporting broken exhaust manifold bolts on my truck. I had 3 studs rattle out, 2 break off inside head gasket and only 1 remain in tact. Truck is in great condition otherwise and has had excellent service record. Only problem now it is costing me $2500 to pull engine and send it to a machine shop to have the final stud removed from head with only 170000 km's on it this is ludicrous. I am a very unhappy customer that this is not a recall as it happens to almost all of these trucks between 09 and 2007. And it is a fire hazard as well as bad for emissionshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yg6wlbnzgi&feature=email&email=comment_reply_received

2 bolts holding the manifold to the 6 l engine of my yukon denali 2005 are broken. There is consequently gas emission leak at the source, not complying to resource emission laws, potential damage to the catalysor.at the garage, extended warranty refused to cover the bolt and work (but the manifold is) one of the bolt can not be drilled by the outside (no space) and has to be remove by removing the head cover. I am looking at a 10 hours estimate of labor.

1999 to present 4.8,5.3 5.7,6.0liter engines from gm have inferior grade metal in the exhaust manifold bolts causing them to break. The vehicles will have exhaust leaks and false readings to the oxygen sensors.the exhaust leaks of raw exhaust gases in to the atmosphere translate to extra pollution into the atmosphere from all these vehicles . The other matter is that the computer on the vehicles isn't given the correct oxygen sensor reading because of the leaks ,either gas leaking out or air being drawn into the exhaust stream causingthe premature failing of catalytic converters. The computer on the vehicles may or may not warm the customers with a light based on the severity of the exhaust stream leakgm put out replacement bolts for this problem ,but that only fixes the people's that have the time and or resources to visit the gm dealers. All the rest of the vehicles and their owners are responsible for getting the old bolts drilled out and trying to get the vehicles fixed on their own. Lots of pollution taking place and money being spent on a problem that could have been avoided with some proper gradefasteners.and this is on about 12,000,000 cars trucks and suvs. This is being written from someone who has had 25+ cars and has an automotive engineering background. And someone who spent money and precious time on this issue and really should not have had to.

This is not a safety defect complaint but a consumer defect. The a/c makes a noise when the compressor engages or switches. The noise sounds like a cd spinning and is quite annoying. It can easily be heard and has been getting louder over time. The dealership replaced the compressor to no avail. They also said engineers are investigating and i have called numerous times to inquire with no updates. The dealership has been great and this is no complaint against them, just a gmc complaint. A new car should not have a loud a/c unit.

Dt:the contact stated when he was exiting thevehicle, with the engine off it began to roll down the driveway.he took the vehicle to the dealership, and they found the bolt that holds the shaft in the transmission was stripped.the bolt was replaced.then, while exiting a parking lot, the vehicle shifted from drive to neutral on its own.the indicator still read drive, but would not go.he stated the steering column did register that the vehicle was in drive, and when driving over a bump, it shifted into neutral.the vehicle was taken to the dealership, they contacted the manufacturer, and they stated tissues normal.the dealership stated they adjusted cables, but the work order he received showed thatnothing was done.the driver side mirror wasn't holding, it would fold.the navigation radio system was replaced. The headliner was replaced. Updated 01/23/06.

There was a strong smell of gas in the car as well as another vehicle who pulled me over to tell me my truck was pouring gas. After having it towed to my mechanic, he informed me that the fuel pumped assembly had rotted and need to be replaced. He stated that this part should not have rotted like this.thankfully this was found before anything catastrophic had happened as i constantly driving around with my two young children in the car.i have kept the old part to show how it had rotted. I haven't heard of any recall for this but being that this situation was extremely dangerous i feel it warrants looking into. This was also an expensive fix and considering it should not have rotted like this, i feel i should receive reimbursement from the manufacturer. This is a huge health and safety issue that requires serious attention.

I have a 2005 gmc yukon.the liftgate and liftgate window both will not unlock and open.the rest of the doors and locks are fine.these can only be opened from the outside, not from the inside.this is a serious safety issue for my family, especially my 4 year old who rides in the back.if there were ever and emergency we would not be able to escape from the rear of the vehicle.

Since 2009, i have been taking my 2005 yukon denali to both dealerships and other mechanic shops to fix a very hazardous problem. To date, no one has been able to fix the problem. When accelerating from a stop or anytime when traveling between 1- 2-3rd gears, the accelerator will suddenly stop working and the "traction active" light will come on. For approximately 10 seconds, the car will not accelerate. This started happening infrequently - 1 per month - and over the years has become much more frequent - 2-3 times a week. This does not happen when the road conditions change. It can happen at any time under any condition. The scary thing about this is that when you are accelerating from a stop and other cars are accelerating behind you, they don't anticipate that you will stop accelerating (the brake lights do not come on), therefore, they almost rear end me. It is a very dangerous situation. My dealership does not know how to fix it, yet there are complaints all over the internet about this same problem. I have just filed a case with gm for assistance. We will see what they do. I believe a recall is long overdue. While we have not gotten in an accident, that is simply because we have been lucky.

On 23 march 2005 at 6:30am, i was driving my 2005 yukon denali in a 15mph school zone on a military post when my driver's side rear tire came off.when i skidded to the side of the road and got out, i noticed that one of the lugs was broken off. This was the cause of my wheel coming off. I was only drivingbetween 10-15mph. I was the only one in the vehicle and there were no injuries. When the tire came off the vehicle, 2 cars in oncoming traffic had to swirve to miss it. When i called the dealership (cutter dodge/gmc in waipahu, hi) the finance manager told me to call the service department.i purchased my vehicle on 05 march 2005 as a demo.i haven't had the vehicle for even 3 weeks. When i talked with my insurance company on the phone, they told me to check with the service department to see if it was covered under warranty since it was a new vehicle. When i towed the vehicle to the service department, they told me it would take like an hour to do an assessment on everything to see how the problem occurred.if i was on the highway going 55mph, i could have lost my life!!!the service manager after 2 hours said that i would be granted a rental car for the day, and they would have to do an investigation. Today, 24 march 2005 when i went to the service station, they told me that they would take care of all the damages that were caused to the rotor/body/axel or shaft.they extended my rental until monday.at this moment, i do not feel safe in this vehicle. I paid over $53,000 for this vehicle. I want another vehicle. They can have this vehicle back and get me another one just like it!!!!i will do whatever it takes to get another vehicle. Either i will go to the better business bureau, gmc, or the local news.just like i said, i do not feel safe driving in this vehicle!!!!!!!

The plastic surround around my seat belt is defective.the plastic tabs have broken from normal usage and the surround now impedes either latching or unlatching, and the seat belt comes unlatched when it appears to be properly latched.other vehicles of the same year/model have the same issue, and the same issue has occurred on multiple seat belts on the same vehicle.this is clearly a safety issue, because (1) the seat belt either appears to be latched when it is not; or (2) the seat belt will not unlatch when the release is depressed, preventing occupants from egressing the vehicle quickly if needed.the tabs holding the plastic surround are too small and allow the buckle to flex and jam, or they break off and interfere with the latch mechanism.

The contact owns a 2005 gmc yukon denali. While driving with the heated seat mechanism activated, the rear driver-side seat caught on fire . The vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection. The technician stated that the seat needed to be replaced. No repairs were made. The current and failure mileages were 94000.

I have a snapped off parking brake component beneath my dash rendering the parking brake inoperative.i have already paid classic chevrolet to fix this same exact issue two years ago and it has just snapped again in the same way under the dash using all new correct parts.

The vehicle display indicates "service stability" and the vehicles abs system begins to grab intermittently causing the vehicle to shake and lose speed drastically. Once pulled off the road if the vehicle is shut off and allowed to sit for a few seconds and restarted it will operate properly again. This incident happened approximately once in june, twice in july, and several times now in august. I thought that maybe it was fluke issue that could be explained by weather as we had exceptionally hot summer thus far. However it is to the point now where i have to take the vehicle into a repair shop to avoid having my wife in an accident.

Vehicle brakes went to the floor and barely came to a stop before hitting a tree. Vehicle was towed into dealership joyce koons manassas.dealership called back stating brake lines had rusted out and contaminated rotors, brake pads, fuel pump, backing plates, right and left level sensors to the tune of $3660.after researching the internet we found out this is a known issue that gm refuses to do a recall on. If we had been on i 95 with the vehicle at a high speed, it could have been a horrible accident and people could have been injured. This vehicle is very heavy and would be difficult to stop at high speeds. Gm says rust due to salt belt states.the reason you buy a 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive is to be able to drive in the snow.but this vehicle can't take the salt and sand put down on highways.brakes is a major safety issue and needs to have attention to this matter and have gm recall these vehicles before someone is killed!

Brake line rusted and leaking brake fluid. Total brake failure.

Basically my lift gate and glass are stuck in the lock position and there is no manual way to open the lift gate. This has to be a safety issue and gmc should issue a recall on the lock actuator to replace them all with a replacement part to ensure no one gets stuck inside there vehicle. This part along with installation can run you up to $1k so i can see people ignoring this problem until it becomes a public concern. I wish gmc would fix it before someone really gets hurt.

I was driving my vehicle on the freeway and suddenly my rear latch window exploded. There was nothing unusual in my driving procedures.

From: james wardcomments:i purchased a 2005 gmc yukon xl denali in december of 2004. After justtwo days of ownership i noticed that the cargo cover would not lockproperly in the covered position. I returned to the dealership and askedthem to replace the cargo cover. They tried six covers but they all hadthe same problem of fit. The dealership also investigated several othernew gmc vehicles on the lot and found the same problem. The dealershipordered one for me but it also had the same problem. I and thedealership have talked with gmc who say that that cannot do anythingabout it.why am i contacting the nhtsa? ? ? it is because when you believe thatthe cargo cover is extended and locked in position it can and does flirtback on driving or even before driving. The rear seat in the vehicle isa good location to place children and infants. If the cargo cover isextended and it is touched by a child in the rear seat then there is astrong possibility that the cover will flirt open and could injure thechild. Additionally if you extend the cargo cover and drive, then as thecargo coverbecomes unfastened due to the ill fitting nature of the coverit will flirt open making a distracting noise. If the driver is startledby this or turns to investigate the noise i believe that this presents asituation that could endanger the driver and or other people andproperty.i have discussed this issue with the gmc customer service and they agreethat this could be a problem and suggested that i contact you.thedealership, fully cogniscent of this issue, continues to sell thevehicle with the problem cargo covers and refuses to tell potentialcustomers of the problem.i hope that you take this issue seriously and help save at least atrapped finger and perhaps even a life!

When diving on a hot day i had the a/c turned on with the driver side, rear air andpassenger temp about 70 degrees. The driver side and rear air would only blow out hot air like the heater was on but the passenger was working just fine. This has happened numerous times. It has been take in to the dealer and one of the service guys said that this has happened with hi yukon. It is supposed to be fixed. We will see what the wife says about it.
