I have a 2004 gmc yukon denali.it has 56,000 miles.the service air bag light came on and i took it to dealership.they told me it was $50 to scan system and $580 to fix the passenger air bag sensor.the old part is still on my car because i am not paying that for a $25.00 part.i think this is ridiculous.no wonder people are going foreign and getting 10 years/100k mile warranty.

First the airbag warning light came on. This has been an ongoing issue since 2008. My speedometer registered the wrong speed. My settings for the seat and mirrors quit working over time.hot air would come out of my vents when the air conditioner was on randomly. Radio, navigation, heat, air conditioner and mirrors would turn on/off randomly without touching controls. The last 3 years went through 3 batteries in 3 years. Tests showed at least 5 things are actively draining battery in the fuse box. Issues happened mostly when car was on but mirrors would randomly move when car was not on, very creepy.

The contact owns a 2004 yukon denali. The contact stated while merging into traffic, the front of the vehicle crashed into the front passenger side door of another vehicle. The contact mentioned the front passenger air bag failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The front passenger sustained head trauma, knee and ankle was fractured. The rear drivers side passenger sustained a ripped eye lid, and the rear side passenger sustained 4 fractured teeth and damaged her intestine. A fatality was reported on the other vehicle involved. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the crash. The failure and current mileage was unknown. The vin was not available.

While driving my vehicle lost power slid on brakes, air bag light and stability light came on and stayed on.

2004 gmc yukondenali. Service air bag light continued to go on but there never seemed to be a problem with it. *cwthe dealer stated the problem should have been covered under warranty as a manufacturing defect, however gmc denied any responsibility because the vehicle had over 100,000 miles.

Faulty driver's side air bag.

Instrument panel sometimes works and sometimes it does not.

Driving vehicle at 30 mph.lost all power and engine.no brakes, no power steering, no dash lights, engine quit running, no exterior lights.parked vehicle in parking lot.no power at all.after about 20 minutes of waiting vehicle started again and had minimal acceleration/power.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving at no certain speed, the speedometer becomes inoperative.for example, when driving at 10mph, the speedometer reads 110mph.the vehicle was taken to the local dealership for inspection and repair of the instrument panel cluster.the speedometer now reads correctly.

The "stability control disabled" sensor comes on followed by "reduced engine power" and my vehicle won't go faster than 5mph. This has happened at least 6 times in the past several months only upon start up of the vehicle. Sometimes, if i wait a couple of minutes and restart my car, it'll start just fine but the check engine light comes on. I first brought it into hendrick chevrolet on 10/15/12. They charged me almost $700 to replace "app sensor assembly". Then i brought it in again on 11/6/12 for the same issue. They replaced the "connector at the throttle body" and charged me $223.09. The issue temporarily went away. I then brought it back on 12/20/12 with the same issue but this time the check engine won't turn off as a result of the reduced engine power-stability control disabled warning. They simply reset the warning and that was it.til this day, i continue to have problem with this vehicle going into reduced engine power/stability control disabled. This has become a constant issue and thorn on my side and each time i bring it in for service, they always tell me it's something else. I have read many of the same issues other owners have had. Why haven't there been a recall on this???

Flashing abs light and then alternating flashing tc (traction control) light. Then the vehicle locks up the left side front brake and pulls the vehicle into on coming traffic. Happens intermittently. Cause by the wheel speed sensor failing on the vehicle. Replacement of part removes issue.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali. The contact was driving 30 mph when he noticed that the speedometer was providing inaccurate speeds traveled and reading a much higher speed than the contact was actually driving. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

When we turn left, the vehicle turns off ,loses power steering, brakes, gauges light up, this only happens when turning left between 3-5 miles hour, the garage said they could not find anything wrong, and the stability control is on to.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali.the contact noticed that the instrument panel was reading inaccurately.he stated that while driving the speedometer would fluctuate and he was unable to determine how fast or slow he was traveling. The gasoline gauge functioned intermittently. The contact was concerned that because of the failure; he could potentially be driving on an empty fuel tank which could result in a crash.the dealer stated that they would assume the repair cost if the vehicle had 80,000 miles or less.the manufacturer advised the contact that there were no related recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 93,775 and the failure mileage was unknown.

This is the 2nd gm all terrainvehicle i have owned that the speedometer quits working after 50000 miles . When i research on mine there are a bunch of owners that are complaining about the same thing. And it's the instrumentpanel that needs to be changed

First my oil gauge started giving false readings on my 2004 gmc denali, i could live with that. Then my speedometer readings are all over the place...all the time with different readings. I am scared for my safety and the safety of others. From reading online this is a very common problem on gmc vehicles and i feel something should be done by gmc to remedy the problem!!!

While driving at 50 mph, speedometer 'failed' to the needle pointing straight down.i drove another 10 minutes home, speedometer needle never moved.cycling engine off/on seemed to cause the needle to 'decrease' indicated speed by about 10 mph with each cycling.after cycling the ignition about 15 times while parked in my driveway, speed again read 0.starting the engine again, the indicator still read 0, and when driving around the block, the speedometer seemed to work again.doing a google search for possible fixes, i found a web-site full of people with similar issues with comparable gmc vehicles.is there a recall in the works?

There are several complaints, on the 2004 gmcdenalis. It's like it starts slow your gauges go out. You have no idea how fast you are going! then the oil, temp for engine, and transmission. Which i had to replace. Then the brakes get a mind of their own. Recently the radio & lights are acting up which is scary, i have a 7 yr. Old. The heat in the back doesn't work for her, so i have several blankets for her. The television quit long ago, it was one of the reasons we bought the car, so kids could watch television on long trips, or whenever. We paid a lot for this vehicle, i would think gmc would step up and do the right thing and correct the product they stand by,and are very proud of. I would love to just purchase a new vehicle. I do not have that luxury, i lost my job, we are pay check to pay check with my husbands income. I can't fix or replace this car, that i absolutely loved before all the malfunctions/defects. I have a garmin so i can tell my speed, and have to hit the side inside the car when the lights won't work. I pray, you will look into this matter before someone is seriously hurt, as so many have reported the same complaints. One gentlemen gave you a website i've seen myself of peoples complaints.i thank you for your time, and anything you can do to help us!!

Speedometer operates erratically if at all.vehicle has 100,000 miles and gm will only replace the cluster if under 70,000 miles.this is a huge safety risk.

My husband's 2004 yukon denali caught fire while parked in the driveway of home. The vehicle had been sitting for nearly two hours before it spontaneously ignited. I called 911 while my husband took the hose and sprayed water on the fire, which was in the dashboard of the suv. The fire department arrived a few minutes later and put the fire out. Fortunately, no one was injured, but it is unknown why the vehicle ignited and was on fire. I contacted gmc via online chat, and the representative said there are no recalls on the 2004 yukon denali. After some preliminary searches online, i found numerous claims of the same thing occurring to other owners of yukon and tahoe suvs in the u.s..

2004 gmc yukon xl denali system stabilization disabled warning light intermittently comes on. The dealer cannot repair this issue because there are no diagnostic codes in the car computer. I have taken the truck to the dealership with the warning light on, but still no error codes. Onstar runs diagnostics and reports no errors and tells me to drive to the nearest dealership because the vehicle is unsafe. This first occurred in december while the truck was still under warranty, now several trips to the service shop and it still is coming on. I am working with gmc customer support to try to resolve the issue, but to date they are saying they can't fix it because there are no diagnostic codes. I have asked them if the truck is safe to drive with warning light on, but they cannot assure me that it is. They refuse to document anything in writing about the safety of the truck. To date there have been no accidents nor injuries, but i have lost all confidence in the vehicle as i was told the stabilization system was mandated by the government and it must be operational. What recourse do i have to insure the truck is safe? why can't they replace computer modules until there is a resolution? the truck did not do this for the first 35 months i owned it, driving the same exact roads that the warning flashes on now.

Rear bucket seat (driver's side) caught fire.fire attributed to seat heater failure by each the 1) fire marshal, 2) gmc dealer and 3) geico.car was unoccupied, parked for approximately 2 hours before returning to open car and find car seat on fire.car seat was not used by any passengers for at least a week prior to the fire.there were only two passengers using the car during an out-of-town trip when the fire occurred on fourth day.thus, car seat heater some how turned itself on, remained on, overheated, and caught seat cushion material on fire. Luckily, car was parked turned off completely (except for seat heater!), locked and unoccupied.further, fire was discovered before spreading, engulfing car and endangering others in the busy school parking lot.had the seat caught fire while someone was actually sitting in the seat and/or the car was traveling at highway speeds, this failure would have resulted in injuries and possible fatalities.seat heaters should never risk causing fires and need to be investigated.

Speedometer very erratic.

At approximately 1:54 pm i was leaving work and i didn't get about 1,000 feet when i began to see smoke coming from the center console area where the cigarette lighter was.i pulled over into a gas station and took the cup holders out trying to search where the smoke was coming from.i then saw smoke coming from the vents on the dashboard.i also saw smoke coming from the battery compartment under the hood.i opened the hood and more smoke with coming from the vent.i opened the passenger side door and saw that behind the center console just under the cd play, the wires were on fire and the fire continued to become larger.i called the fire department at 1:56 pm and again at 1:59 pm when they arrived and the entire dashboard was burning.the vehicle's dashboard was completely melted along with the controls above by the sunroof.the vehicle is a complete loss.the vehicle has been parked at my job for more than 6 hours before i took it to go home.i sustained smoke inhalation and heat burns on my face.i was transported to the local hospital, treated and release.

The engine light constantly stays on and i've taken it to a mechanic but it comes right back on again. The gas gauge doesn't work properly. When you fill the tank to full the arrow only goes to the halfway mark.

Erratic speed shown on speedometer. Shows zero at one time and then read max out at 120. Took it to have repaired and was told that they had had numerous others with the same problem. Cost to repair $600!!! i found a website with 209 posted complaints of the same problem. This is clearly a safety issue that needs attention. With a possible interaction with the cruise control not to mention inaccurate speed.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated that the speedometer failed and prevented the contact from knowing how fast the vehicle was traveling. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer stated that the warranty on the speedometer cluster replacement ended in 2010. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

I have noticed several times that my speedometer will stick or stop working all together.after searching on the internet, i see that many other people are having the same problem with their chevrolet and gmc trucks and light duty trucks.

Speedometerstopped working.

Driving down freeway in 2004 gmc denali and the speedometer stopped working. It now works only erratically, along with the tachometer.

My speedometer failed on my 2004 gmc yukon denali.there is a recall on the instrument cluster for this for model year 2003-2006, but only up to 80,000.i had 104,000 when the incident happened on my vehicle.it cost me $600 to get this diagnosed and replaced.i consider this a safety issue and it should not have a limit on mileage.not knowing how fast you are going can cause problems on an interstate highway.by driving to slow, one can cause other drivers to erratically pass and zoom by you or driving to fast can cause other drivers to hurriedly get out of your way and cause accidents.this is more than likely the cause of a speeding ticket i got back in may 2009.it possibly was acting up, but didn't completely fail until july 2009.

Speedometer has intermitten failure.it registers incorrect speeds (often showing 80 moh when parked) or does not work at all.

The speedometer is not functioning correctly, especially in cold weather. The speedo seems to stick and reads incorrectly. It happens daily and has not been fixed.

Speedometer started reading 120 mph sitting still right after car was out of warranty i am not alone with this problem there are tens of thousands just like mine with no gm recall this item needs to be recalled it is dangerous driving with no accurate speedometer.

I have two gm vehicles, a 2003 tahoe & a 2004 denali. Both vehicles started having speedometer problems this week. Standing still the speedometer reads 30+ mph, start moving & they are reading well over 120 mph. I no longer have any idea how fast i am traveling in either of my vehicles. This is unsafe & gm should immediately recall all affected vehicles & fix this problem quickly. I have 8 children & would like to know that i am driving at a safe speed at all times.

I started my car and while i was in park the speedometer said 70mph. While i was driving it would register over 120mph. I had no idea what speed i was truly going. This is a scary feeling especially with my three children in the car. I tried turning off the car putting it in drive and back to park thinking perhaps it was stuck, but nothing works. I see this is a common problem...help??

2004 yukon denali xl. Faulty instrument cluster ( wrong mph readings) on my 2004 denali. Not under warranty. Had to pay gmc to replace. Faulty fuel readings. Possibly tankbad sensor. Gmc needs to recall these items or offer refunds to those who fixed problems with own money.

My speedometer broke at 51,000 miles. I have talked to 5 other yukon, tahoe owners who have had the same problem.

Speedometer is erratic and/or just gets stuck after expiration of vehicle warranty. I was told i would have to replace the entire instrument panel at approx cost of $1,000.00.

2004 yukon denali xl 43,800 mi. Speedometer failure. This seems to be a common failure. Http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/chevrolet-tahoe/t2bgkbgi55eknu77c/p3. Http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/chevrolet-tahoe/t2bgkbgi55eknu77c/p4. Http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/chevrolet-tahoe/t2bgkbgi55eknu77c/p6. Http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/chevrolet-tahoe/t2bgkbgi55eknu77c/p7.

Speedometer is jumpy and inaccurate.

The speedometer does not read the correct speed. It doesn't start at zero. Once it read lower than the actual speed but usually it is higher.

In the instrument cluster on my 2004 gmc yukon, the speedometer hangs up indicating a higher speed than actually traveling.initially, the problem occurred at intervals greater than 6 months but seems to be recurring much more frequently - every 2 weeks or so.upon initial problem being noticed, i found that other model year yukons had this issue and were repaired, possibly under recall but my model year was excluded.

When driving the speedometer would get stuck. Then go back to normal. This happened for about two months then it all stopped working all the gauges are now not working.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact observed that the speedometer displayed an inaccurate reading. The failure normally would occur only during the cold winter temperatures; however, the failure became progressively worse intermittently during hot temperatures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 90,000. The vin was not available.

Speedomter is broken, began reading erratic highs speeds, now peggeg out above 120 mph and does not move. Occasionally makes a slight clicking sound.

Speedometer sticking and reporting incorrect vehicle speed. Speedometer would consistently drop over the course of the trip and finally it will report 0 mph while the car is in motion on an interstate. Temporary fix is to pull over and turn the car completely off and try again. It works for around 60 miles and problem starts all over again. Dealer suggested to replace instrument cluster which will cost any from $250-350. This is a common issue per my research online. There are many ebay vendors that specialize in this and charge good money.

While driving home the speedometer stopped reading any speed.it slowly drifted down to 0 mph.while driving i accelerated thinking that i was loosing speed only to finally realize that the speedometer was malfunctioning.the car has 70,000 miles on the odometer which i am assuming is accurate.this is a very dangerous item to have fail.this could easily caused an accident when approaching a curve the driver would think that the car is traveling slower than it actual.makes an ominous clicking noise.this am on the way to work appeared to be functioning normally!!!very strange and definitely not "professional grade".

2004 yukon denali speedometer malfunctioned causing wrong speed readings.

Erratic readings with offsets in the speedometer.

2004 gmc yukon denali:speedometer needle does not work; auto has 61,750 miles.safety hazard which should be a recall correction by gm.

Purchased car may 24, 2007 with 68004 miles.on may 25th speedometer started sticking and then stopped working altogether.then working sporadically.was clocking 0mph on highway when estimated speed probably 60mph.have not done anything to repair yet.seems like a defect as per hundreds and hundreds of complaints on line.

For the past 2 weeks my speedometer needle has been getting stuck. Once i hit 60mph, it gets stuck there. When i turn off the car it stays at 60 so it acts as if it's at 0mph. At that point it looks like i'm going 100mph when in reality i'm going 40mph until it gets stuck past 120mph. After a few days it starts slowly dropping. It's amazing that this problem has not been taken care of after many many complaints from owners. I will make sure to give negative reports to anyone looking to buy a gm vehicle as well as to potential used gm owners.

We purchased our gmc denali used in july 2007. In june of this year i noticed sometimes that when i would look at the speedometer it would say that i was doing about 40 mph, when i knew that i was not going that speed. I was keeping up with traffic when i first noticed it and the speed limit was 55mph.about a month later i noticed that the speed odometer would say i was not moving at all that my speed was 0, and i would be driving at the time. Then in july of this year we were coming back from a family day trip and we were pulled over for speeding. The officer informed us that we were going about 55 when the speed limit was 40. According to the speed odometer we were going the speed limit. Now when i drive the vehicle i am either go no speed at all or the speed odometer starts going crazy or gets stuck at 40mph. I have not been able to fine any recall on this matter.

My 2004 gmc denali has some serious problems with the speedometer and gas gage not showing correct readings.speedometer shows 50,60,70 when you are only going 30.sometimes on the highway i am passing everyone and have no clue as to how fast i am going.i can be going pretty fast just setting stopped at a stop light sometimes.and i have no clue as to how much gas i have anymore.they sent out a letter that stated that they would fix this and extended the warranty for 7 years or 70,000 miles whichever comes first.well my vehicle has 108000 miles on it, because i bought it to travel in and we drive it.they don't consider this a safety issue, so no recall.since when does driving 90 miles an hour when you think you are going 70 not a safety issue?or perhaps running out of gas in the middle of nowhere and freezing to death.

Normal driving conditions.malfunctioning/erratic speedometer, resulting in speed 30 mph over actual speed verified via gps navigation.no repairs completed.

On the date listed below, my speedometer began to register incorrect speeds.it then became stuck on 70 mph when my vehicle was stopped.it has not stopped working all the way and is stuck at 140mph.while at my local dealership getting my oil changed, i asked an attendant if he was getting many speedometer repairs for my make/model.he stated that he has replaced many and that the problem is a faulty "step motor"??i asked the service manager if there were any recalls and he stated "he was not familiar with any problems."he stated he would fix my speedometer for approximately $400.the service tech stated the motor costs $10.i have read a few threads on the topic and there seems to be a serious problem, and not the proper response from the maker.basically a defective part and a car company making lots of money to repair it.vehicle i own is a 2004 yukon denali.

Speedometer cluster failed.gm is covering the malfunction up to 70,000 miles.i have 80,000...it seems that this is a very common malfunction.gm won't cover over 70,000 miles.its a safety issue if your speedometer quits working.

Speedometer on my 2004 yukon xl denali has failed.

Tachometer will not stay accurate ,slowley works it way up to be pegged at 6500 rpms with engine off, then it will return to normal and start over.

Contact owns 2004 gmc yukon denali.the vinyl on instrument panel andconsole between seats is peeling. Dealer stated that the failure is not covered under warranty.current mileage is 75,600updated 01/08/08 the consumer stated the right axle was leaking. The blower motor was replaced. The odometer was off. It was reading 1 mile faster than the actual speed the consumer was driving. The consumer stated the transmission was slipping when shifting from reverse to drive. Updated

While driving my vehicle lost power slid on brakes, air bag light and stability light came on and stayed on.

I could be driving on the expressway and the right of come on and stability traction disabled come home and cut my power they are to 10 miles an hour while i'm driving

While driving on interstate traction control lite came on in dash then power to suv was lost then electronic message read out stated "stability control disabled " then " reduced engine speed" message appeared. I was able to pull off interstate but nearly got rearendedhit by semi. Engine would run only at idle speed. After shutting off vehicle and waiting minute or two then restarting it ran fine. This has happened numerous times since then. Speeds vary 70,55,40 mph it doesn't matter. After calling different gmc dealers about problem they act like this is something they never heard of."bull**** !!!!. Its the same problem numerous gmc owners are facing on the internet. Gmc customers have spent thousands of dollars with no problems solved. All they want to do is hook you up to electronicmachine and overcharge you for the same thing autozone ,etc. Businesses will do for free. I don't have thousands of dollars for them to be parts replacers . Gmc should know the exact part to fix this problem. Someone or family is going to get hurt badly if gmc doesn't fix this problem they know they have.

While in the middle of driving, the "stability control disabled" sensor comes on followed by "reduced engine power" and my vehicle just shuts off.i have been fortunate the 4-5 times it has happened as i have been able to pull off the road, wait a couple of minutes and restart my car.i have already replaced a hub that my mechanic said was causing a "traction control" problem from earlier.i am reading online all of the nightmares and i unfortunately do not have thousands of dollars to keep trying to fix an issue that gmc is clearly aware of.i have 5 kids and frequently drive them around and someone is going to get hurt and i think gmc should take some responsibility.

Instrument panel sometimes works and sometimes it does not.

Flashing abs light and then alternating flashing tc (traction control) light. Then the vehicle locks up the left side front brake and pulls the vehicle into on coming traffic. Happens intermittently. Cause by the wheel speed sensor failing on the vehicle. Replacement of part removes issue.

The abs traction control on my 2004 yukon denali activates on dry roads and nearly caused a serious accident. While pulling out onto the road, the traction control kicked in and cut power to the truck. I couldn't accelerate and was almost hit by oncoming traffic.

Driving vehicle at 30 mph.lost all power and engine.no brakes, no power steering, no dash lights, engine quit running, no exterior lights.parked vehicle in parking lot.no power at all.after about 20 minutes of waiting vehicle started again and had minimal acceleration/power.

Upon start up of vehicle, a ticking noise was heard from the engine compartment.upon inspection, found that the left rear exhaust bolt on the exhaust manifold had broken off causing exhaust leak.upon investigation on the internet, this is a very common issue with the gm 6.0 liter and other engines.this is a serious safety defect and also causes the emissions controls of the engine to be inoperable.possible safety issues can and do include; carbon monoxide poisoning and the possibility of engine compartment failure.

Broken exhaust bolts on gm engines.this is a well known defect and failure on these engines and is part of the vehicle emissions systems.this is also a very serious safety defect, possible issues with this failure include; carbon monoxide poisoning and engine compartment fire.

Dt:vehicle is a 2004 gmc yukon denali.while driving 25-35 mph the vehicle will shut off on the consumer.this problem has happened twice in the same day, which was on 6-24-05. The brake light will come on then the vehicle loses all power. The consumer can get the vehicle to stop by applying extreme pressure to the brakes.the first time it occurred while consumer was stopping at a stop light.less than 5 minutes later she was able to get the vehicle to start again. Afterwards she was pulling into a gas station when the vehicle shut off the second time.the consumer had taken it to the dealership the same day.the vehicle remained there until 7-2, and at this time they told her that they could not find a problem with the vehicle.the third time the vehicle shut down was on 7-3.this occurred while the consumer was driving 30-35 mph.the consumer had taken it back to the dealership on 7-5.this time they replaced the crank shaft position sensor.the consumer picked the vehicle up on 7-11.and today 7-12 the vehicle started shaking and jerking while going 60 mph. This problem was off and on until the consumer had stopped the vehicle.after starting the vehicle back up and driving 35-40 mph it stopped on the consumer for the fourth time. And as of now the vehicle is at the dealership.all repairs were done by the same dealership as purchased from.the vehicle is still under warranty.as of now the consumer has not contacted the manufacture.

Exhaust system on my new 04 yukon denali has an excessive amount of popping and cracking noise after it is turned off. I had an 03 denali prior to this and it did not do this. This has gone on since i got the vehicle. Dealer says there is nothing they can do about it.

Turn signals flash both left turn and right turn signal when making right turn.all external bulbs associated with turn signals have been replaced and the problem still exists.gmc states the yukon is out of warranty and this isn't a recall problem and that any replacement would be at my own expense.

My son and i were going north on rt 1 in rehoboth beach and stopped at a light and smelled gas.i pulled over to the side of the road and looked under the car and gas was leaking fast from the top of the gas tank.took it straight up to my mechanic [xxx] at emery chassisworks and left it for him to check.he found the metal gas pump has rusted out on top and was pumping gas all over. .he said he only found one other yukon with that problem.all the others had a plastic top (that could not rust).this was extremely dangerous (any cigarette, spark, etc.) and we were blown up. Why didn't i have the gas pump on top of the gas tank with a plastic top that doesn't rust.very dangerous.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My 18-year old daughter narrowly escaped death the evening of may 1st while driving my 2004 gmc yukon denali. She was in a relatively "routine" accident in which she lost control of the vehicle at approximately 40 mph and struck a tree head-on in a residential area of colorado springs. A good samaritan pulled her from the vehicle seconds before the vehicle erupted into a massive fireball that completely gutted the vehicle. Needless to say, i am enormously troubled by the fireball -- not something that should happen in this type of accident.i am reminded of similar problems with the ford pinto and ford explorer and worry that there is a design flaw in this vehicle that may cost others their lives. I purchased and meticulously maintained this vehicle because i wanted something big, heavy and safe to protect my family, never anticipating this horrific scenario. Would you be willing to investigate this incident? i have most of my maintenance records, the police report, photographs, news accounts, youtube vide, etc. Usaa is my insurer.the vehicle is a total loss but i have asked usaa to hold the vehicle so that you or another appropriate agency can conduct an investigation.

The majority of the time when i go to the gas station and try to pump gas, the pump always shuts off.it happens when i pump gas manually or use the lever on the gas pump.i pull out the gas nozzle and re-insert it and it continually happens.it is very annoying trying to fill up the 26 gallon gas tank.

Spring of 2013 i lost my brakes ,lines and connectors totally rusted out (replaced).july 2013 my full tank of gas poured out all over the ground.sending unit ,feed line, return line totally rotted and blew out.but the pump still worked. Lol (all replaced).i bought this truck with 70000 miles on it at 5 years old.from a volvo dealership.i only put 10000 miles on it in approximately 4 years.i keep it well maintained and change the oil every 3000 miles.whats next? i have driven trucks for 35 years now.never had anything like this happen before.what gives with these crappymade parts!!!!! .make them in the u.s.a.!!!!..who are the engineers designing this vehicles.thy make it hard for the mechanics to work on without having to disassemble everything to get to the repair thats needed! headache for them and $$$$$ unnecessary unsafe for us!!

The contact owns a 2004 gmc envoy. The contact stated that both rear doors failed to close properly and erroneously opened while the contact was traveling various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the latches needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

As i slowed exiting a freeway about 35 mph, i heard a screech & a bit of loss of power.when i attempted to put into reverse for parking (later) it was apparent it was the transmission. As i investigated on line it was an ongoing transmission problem due to "less than robust parts" inside the transmission.gm dealer-service rep. John at zubor agreed with this and told me to contact gm since it was, just over the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.it took gm two weeks or more to reply & return my calls & emails, when of course i was told a gm dealer must diagnose the problem--vehicle was already repaired at that point by my own mechanic. I do not have another form of transportation & since it is out of warranty i had no promise of gm assistance, i took it where i could!i paid $1850.00 for a new trans with warranty.i would not be writing except this is an ongoing problem & the gm tech on line said there was "nothing you could do to prevent this from happening since the interior parts are weak".gm tech commented gm had began using more "robust parts for replacement, but due to high labor costs (interior parts) he suggested to replace trans so you would have a warranty". This is also what our mechanic advised.please advise.

When pressing more than one drivers window control, the driver's seat occasionally moves to the full forward position forcing the driver up against the steering wheel even when the vehicle is in motion.when this happens, it is difficult to control (steer) the vehicle.

Front seat heater for driver comes on when ignition is turned on without being selected.

Driving 45 mph hit brakes and could not stop.brake failure light appeared on dashboard. Kept pumping brakes and put into first gear to slow down. Luckily was able to stop and no one was in front of my car..inspected car and rear brake line hose was blown and leaking hyd fluid.

My wife and daughter were driving on the highway.when they went to exit, the brake pedal went to the floor.after i got it home i followed the brake fluid trail into my garage.had it inspected by my mechanic and two of the brake lines were rusted through and the others were on there way to failure also.too big of a job for him so i made an appointment at the chevrolet dealer for next week at a price of around $1300 as quoted.the dealer told me there is a repair kit for this because of so many cases of premature rust failure but gm will not incur any of the costs or admit a safety issue.the outrageous cost of the fix is one thing but the safety of many is totally another.

Lost braking ability, brake peddle to floor, warning lights came on for brake failure, service immediately.smoke coming from area of left front wheel.pulled over, checked brake fluid, there was none.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph and attempting to brake, the brake pedal abnormally traveled to the floorboard without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the brake lines were severely corroded and leaking. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 106,000.

The vehicles traction control system engages when pulling out from a stopped position causing the vehicle to be disabled for several seconds.also the abs brake activate on dry road under light braking. Both conditions result in a very dangerous situation when attempting to negotiate an intersection.

During normal driving, brake pedal will sometimes go to the floor when attemping to stop, and vehicle will not slow down at all.after second attempt, brakes start working again.no errors reported by vehicle computer.we have already hit a mailbox trying to avoid a crash, and almost rolled over another time due to not being able to slow down in time.two gm dealers have found no problems, and we have been told to not bring the vehicle back to them as they say nothing is wrong with it.problem happens approx. Every 5 weeks, no consistency or events leading up to brake loss.

2004 gmc yukon denali - traction control message comes on after a stop when you start to go again and it feels like the vehicle does not want to go.the vehicle started doing this about 20k.we have taken it in several times for this issue but could not figure out what it was due to no code in the computer.finally at 47k we took it in again and made the dealership ride with us and the truck did this, they replaced a sensor but now we are have several other issues that we never had before, the abs light is coming on, service stability light and the traction control off light come on.i can't believe after all this time they can't figure it out, it is getting very costly having the truck in every few weeks.

Dt*: the contact stated a humming sound was heard coming from the vehicle's steering, which got progressively louder upon acceleration, turning, and braking.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who determined that the hydroboost unit was faulty.there was a nhtsa recall # 04v045000, regarding the hydraulic service brakes.the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle brakes failed and was depressed to the floorboard. She also stated that she was able to stop the vehicle by engaging the emergency brake and after inspecting, she discovered a brake fluid leak. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who diagnosed that one of the brake lines had fractured due to corrosion and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 57,937.

Brake line eroded away on a very well taken care of 2004 gmc yukon denali. Nearly collided with another vehicle going over speed bump and had absolutely no warning!my pedal went to the floor and the only way ii avoided collision was putting the truck in neutral and stomping on the parking break. For a vehicle that new costs over 50000 dollars to fail at such a low mileage and not even close to a decade old is completely unacceptable. This vehicle rarely seems inclement weather and is covered with a nearly 500 dollar california car cover.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated while driving at a slow speed and trying to make a turn with thebrakes applied; the steering wheel became difficult to make a right turn. The contact received nhtsa campaign id number: 04v045000 (service brakes, hydraulic) dealing with the hydro-boost module, but the dealer and manufacturer refused to repair the vehicle. The current mileage was 119,000.

The abs traction control on my 2004 yukon denali activates on dry roads and nearly caused a serious accident. While pulling out onto the road, the traction control kicked in and cut power to the truck. I couldn't accelerate and was almost hit by oncoming traffic.

Dt*:the contact stated while attempting to apply brake pressure at 65 mph the brakes failed resulting in a crash.this occurred on a normal road during normal braking without warning and a police report was filed.the vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection.they were unable to duplicate the problem and no repairs were made.

In my 2004 yukon denali the steering wheel pump went up.the vehicle was purchased on may 8, 2004 and to my discovery the failure occured on june 26, 2004.while driving i noticed a loud humming sound coming from the truck.it was noticeable when i depressed the gas petal and also while turning the steering wheel.i contacted onstar to perform a diagnostic of the vehicle in hopes they could determine the problem.onstar was able to assess my truck and informed me that nothing was malfunctioned electrically which indicated a manual dysfunction.for a matter of this magnitude to have gone wrong in such a short period of time, leads one to believe that the dealership sold me a lemon or did not perform a thorough assessment of the vehicle prior to selling it to me.on the next business day, june 28, 2004, i drove my truck into the service center, anderson automotive of hunt valley maryland from which it was purchased.to begin with, when i researched and choose the suv of my liking, i went to anderson automotive of hunt valley and test drove the truck i wanted.the stock number of the test driven vehicle was 4j269973.the dealer assured me that the vehicle was in excellent condition and would not be sold to anyone and was on hold for me.at the time of purchase, the stock number of the vehicle sold to me was 4j195367 (a clear mismatch from the one i test drove).my concern is that this dealer intentionally switched and sold to me a fifty thousand dollar defective vehicle.this incident has raised red flags in my trust with this dealership and their consumer practices.i am so disturbed by this experience and how the clear deceptiveness in switched vehicles occurred, that if necessary, my next step will be to contact the dmva (dealer compliance) as well as the state's attorney general for further investigation into this matter.

Driving vehicle at 30 mph.lost all power and engine.no brakes, no power steering, no dash lights, engine quit running, no exterior lights.parked vehicle in parking lot.no power at all.after about 20 minutes of waiting vehicle started again and had minimal acceleration/power.

With the recent gm recall on powersteering motors i would like to report a problem. I own a 2004 gmc yukon denali. I have been having the same problems with my powersteering as described with the cobolts and pontiacs. . the fluid and pump have been checked and were fine.

The left rear lift glass hinge weld failed resulting in the need to replace the entire unit.the claim was deniedby the extended warranty program because the defect involves a hinge.the hinge did not fail the weld to the hinge failed.this should be covered or be a recall item due under structural failure.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali. While driving approximately 5 mph, a loud noise emitted from the rear of the vehicle. The contact discovered that the spare tire that was located under the vehicle detached and fell to the ground. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact discovered that the assembly that secures the spare tire to the bottom of the vehicle failed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 150,000.

While driving my vehicle lost power slid on brakes, air bag light and stability light came on and stayed on.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated that the spare tire safety release did not work. The contact called the dealer who forced the tire safety release to work. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current mileage was approximately 92,000. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Spare tire has a new security device not as described in manual.i had a flat in horrible conditions and could not the spare off the winch.gmc refused to correct all manuals.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated that the traction control system would engage when accelerating from a complete stop, causing the vehicle to become disabled for several seconds.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that they were aware of the failure and that there was not a recall for the failure. He also advised that they would replace the throttle body assembly. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact applied the brakes but the vehicle would not respond. The brake pedal fell to the floorboard abnormally and the vehicle rolled to a stop as the contact attempted to avoid a crash. The traction control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the technician advised that the wheel speed sensor and the traction control device failed and would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

2004 gmc yukon xl denali system stabilization disabled warning light intermittently comes on. The dealer cannot repair this issue because there are no diagnostic codes in the car computer. I have taken the truck to the dealership with the warning light on, but still no error codes. After several trips to the service shop and it still is coming on. To date there have been no accidents nor injuries, i have lost confidence in the vehicle as i was told the stabilization system was mandated by the government and it must be operational. What recourse do i have to insure the truck is safe? why can't they replace computer modules until there is a resolution? the truck did not do this for the first five years i owned it, driving the same exact roads that the warning flashes on now.

The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated that the traction control light illuminated and the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. When the failure occurred, the vehicle slammed to a stop as if someone struck the vehicle from the rear. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the traction control sensor was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 116,000. The vin was not available.
