I was traveling south on summit crossing rd. Fredericksburg va. 22408 at approx.45 mil.per hr. ,when i heard a big bang ,the steering locked ,the vehicle went directly hard left, and struck large trees destroying the front end. About 3 minutes after the crash the steering wheel air bag went off in my face.i exited the vehicle to find a damaged front wheel and broken axle assembly near the vehicle.

I came up on an accident that was already happening and had to slam on brakes. At that time my 2003 yukon denali did not stop in time and i hit another car going at least 45 miles an hour in the rear. My whole front end was smashed in and the passenger hit the dash but my airbags did not deploy and the onstar stopped working.

The contact owns a 2003 yukon denali. The contact stated that the engine was started and both the driver and passenger side frontal air bags deploy inadvertently. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was not injured. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The current and failure mileage was 113,000.

Off and on since last year i have had problems with my electrical system. Just out of the blue the check engine light will come on and the "reduce engine speed" message will show up on the dashboard.and my speed will shut down and the vehicle will only go about 25mph. We had taken it in to a shop and they were unable to find the issue and said it was just a low battery. Well after replacing the battery it continues to do this off and on. Once the car is shut off and restarted it would be fine until the next incident. Now while doing research on this issue i have read that many people are having this problem.some people have experienced this while on the freeway going 65mph. The engine will just reduce speed automatically. Why is this not a recall for safety reasons? what has to be done for there to be a recall on this issue?

Headlights flash when turning at speeds over approximately 35 mph. These incidents have caused road rage with other drivers. Apparently, other drivers feel i'm flashing my bright lights at them.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon denali.the contact stated that the instrument cluster gauges would either become stuck or would flicker back and forth between readings.the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but denied any assistance with repairs.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 119,000.

I have had multiple ongoing electrical issues with this vehicle.starting in 2005, the exterior electronics (i.e. Signal lights, stop lights, head lights, etc) began to malfunction.for example, i would trigger the signal for one direction and all of the signals for all directions would trigger...even pressing the brakes triggered all of the exterior signals. The dealer had a hard time isolating my problem, but after several visits, the dealer was finally able to diagnose and rectify it... They isolated it to a junction box where all of the electronics terminate.however, by this time, my vehicle was out of warranty, so i had to cover the costs for repairing the problem myself.my most recent issues, which, by the way, seem to becommon issues, are triggered by a message stating, "reduced engine power".this particular issue does not always render the same results... Sometimes the vehicle's speed will significantly decrease to nearly a halt, but other times i may just experience increased idling of the engine, even if i am at a complete stop.my understanding, according to hundreds of reports that i have read on the message boards, is that this issue is caused by either a wiring harness that leads from the accelerator to the throttle body or it's a defective throttle body altogether.i have experienced intermittent electrical problems with my windows as well, but this appears to be a minor issue when compared to the other two that i addressed above.i will file a formal complaint with gmc corporate office today and see where that goes.

December 2008- instrument cluster went out- speedometer no longer workingdecember 2008- battery gauge no longer workingmarch 2009- stabilitrak issues...sometimes the stabilitrak would work and at times it would not workjuly 2009 to january 2010- reduced engine power (almost cause 2 wrecks) could not perform a diagnosis...could not read computer. Changed fuel pump. No more reduced engine power messageaugust 2011- wheel bearing issues. Reduced engine power (almost caused wreck...backed up traffic)september 2011- gas pedal stickingnovember 2011- reduced engine power...happens 5 times within a 30 mile trip. Attempted to resolve problem several times, but running out of options. Have to kill car in middle of highway or intersection to get car to work properly.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon denali. The contact was driving 60 mph when all of the gauges on the instrument panel became stuck and some were providing inaccurate readings including the fuel gauge and the speedometer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 90,000.

Driving on hwy going aprx 65mph. Vehicle said reduced engine power and started slowing down. I had to pull to side of the road. I managed not to be rear ended. This has happened often. It is a potentially life threatening situation. Gmc know about this problem and how difficult it is to find the proper fix. Someone is going to die due to their lack of action. It's not safe.

Interior & exterior lights flicker drastically on wide turns traveling over 40 miles an hour. This is very distracting to the driver of the vehicle, and also to other drivers driving in front. *nlm

My vehicle, due to factory alarm system, is unsafe and unfit to drive -- a death trap on wheels.it turned the vehicle off, while driving, and locked me inside! i was thankfully driving down the fl keys, on a bridge but at the end of the bridge, so i was able to coast down and off the bridge to a shoulder... If it had died anywhere else on the bridge or on an flat road i may have been stuck there, blocking traffic at the minimum, in an accident and dead if rear-ended and pushed off bridge...because the doors locked and i would have been unlikely to escape my sinking truck...to say nothing of the fall itself.if i had been going on the interstate and i was in a middle lane for example, i could have easily died because my truck suddenly stopped, without indication, and i got rear ended by any number of vehicles, including large semi trucks.if i had a dead keychain fob for the alarm, i would have been locked inside the truck as well -- because only the keychain was able to unlock the doors. If my phone had died or i had no signal, i would be trapped inside as well if and until help arrived unless i got desperate enough to smash out a window.all the mechanics i have taken it to have struggled to resolved the issue, but it is something the truck should have been recalled for and fixed for free by gmc -- a serious safety issue. I have researched and seen other similar trucks by gmc having the same problem with factory alarms and my mechanic says he has had 2 other, different makes/models, just arrive with nearly same problem, as if by fate and he is having trouble fixing those as well -- because its a factory embedded alarm problems.it remains unfixed to this day and i am not able to drive the vehicle until it is fixed.

Truck started to have major eletrical issues. Blubs burning out often sockets burning out had to replace too often. Light covers melting. Headlights out and will not come back on for days, have to tap them to get them to come back on. Horn blows from alarm all times of the day and night. Inside lights on dash, steering wheel and doors will not work at times all lights are not functioning correctly. Lights at times too often will not work at all. Stability warning light comes often.afraid truck will catch fire from the electrical issues.. Please help!!!!

I own a 2003 gmc yukon denali.i'm having a problem where the speedometer and horn are intermittently going out.i can drive the truck one day and it's fine and later that day or during another drive, the horn will not work and the speedometer with either do a 'jumping' motion or will not move at all.there have been no crashes to date.i called my local gmc dealer and they informed me that they had not heard of these problems with the denali but there was a problem with the horns on the sierra trucks...

I have a 2003 gmc yukon denali, it recently begin a skipping like motion on the speedometer. Then after about a week it started reading off by about 30 mph now when driving its sits at zero 90 percent of the time, the other 10 percent of the time it stay at 15 mph no matter how fast or slow i am moving.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon denali.the contact stated that everytime he activated his left turn signal, the hazard warning lights would illuminate.secondly, the gauges on the instrument control panel were inoperative.thirdly, the battery constantly failed without warning.lastly, when switching gears on the vehicle, the contact heard a loud knocking noise.he took the vehicle to the dealer on numerous occasions and a technician replaced the battery and alternator twice, and the entire instrument control panel as well.even after all of the repairs were made, the electrical failures still persist.the manufacturer did not provide any assistance.the failure mileage was 33,000 and current mileage was 47,400.

I have a 2003 gmc yukon denali and at 43,000 miles, only 3 years old (if that) in august of 2006, my speedometer just stopped one day but only after sticking for a couple of days on 20-30 mph. I was told it would cost $435 to fix it; but, i refused because it should have been recalled. I bought it in fayetteville, nc.after researching i found out i was not alone in owning a gm defect, as well as, gm's knowledge of this defect since at least 2003 if not longer. This shows a flagrant disregard for our safety and a voluntarily deceitful act on gmc's behalf that is unacceptable.

I have a 2003 gmc yukon denali. The speedometer on my vehicle is faulty. At one point i was driving down a residential street and my speedometer display showed that i was traveling 120 mph. My wife received a speeding for traveling 70 mph in a 50 mph zone. At the time the speedometer indicated that she was only traveling 50 mph. This has beena problem because when driving the vehicle we never really know how fast or slow we are actually traveling. Have spoke with other consumers who own gmc yukon and they have stated that they have also experienced problems with their speedometer.

While driving on a trip the speedometer in my 2003 gmc yukon denali froze on 72 mph.speedometer remained stuck on 72 mph for the next 2 hours, still showing 72 mph even when the vehicle was completely stopped.i shut the car off and restarted it whenever possible for the next 2 hours.each time after i would restart the vehicle the speedometer would drop slightly (about 5 - 10 mph at a time) till it reached 36mph, then it would not drop any lower.speedometer remained stuck on 36 mph for 2 days.i eventually disconnected the vehicles battery for approx. 30 minutes.after reconnecting battery speedometer appeared to correct itself.during the next month i have had numerous, sporadic incidents where the speedometer will freeze up while driving.this is a very unsafe and potentially dangerous situation.also the light directly behind the speedometer has burnt out, as well as numerous other gauge, switch, and indicator lights.

Speedometer has quit working. We had an 2004 impala that there was a recall on the speedometer, thought there might be on this one also.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon denali.the contact stated that the instrument panel gauges failed.the gauges remain at zero when the vehicle is in motion.he took the vehicle to the dealer for repair, but the mileage on the vehicle exceeded the 70,000 mile requirement to repair the failure. The failure mileage was 100,500.updated 02-26-09 updated 02/26/09.

I have a 2003 yukon with 70000 miles. My speedometer has become very erratic. At a full stop it reads anywhere from 15 to 70 mph. When driving it frequently exceeds the 120 mph maximum limit even though i am traveling with the flow of normal traffic. I have researched the problem and have found that this is a common issue with gm suvs and trucks manufactured in the 2003/2004 time frame. This is an extreme safety issue as not reliably knowing your speed can and will cause traffic accidents. The gmc dealer says the solution is to remove the existing instrument panel cluster (ipc) and to install a new or reconditioned one at a cost of over $700.00.

The speedometer on my 2003 gmc yukon denali, with 40,000 miles, has quit working. Through research it appears that many gm owners are experiencing the same problem and gm insists on repair costs ranging from $500 to $1000 dollars. The speedometer in my vehicle has stopped working while driving down then high way.this failure can lead to accidents as well as financial burdens when having to pay for speeding tickets due to the failure to maintain a safe speed. At this point nothing has been repaired as i refuse to pay gm to repair a defective part, which they are aware of. I understand that a fatality has to occur before the nthsa and/or gm to take action to correct the problem.

After noticing that my 2003 yukon denali had intermittent headlights/dash lights dimming, i took the vehicle to my local dealer to have it checked out.they presented me with a document that stated the gm stated this was not a malfunction and was a normal condition.there is nothing about this that is "normal".any time, at night, a curve is taken at above 35 mph the lights flicker.i had already pinpointed that it had to do with the vses system because when the vses is turned off, this does not happen.when a curve is taken and the flickering occurs, the voltage meter for the battery drops substantially and then goes right back to normal.this is a distraction for the driver (myself), any oncoming traffic, and anyone that i am behind.this absolutely needs to be looked into before it causes injury.

Headlight flicker had dealer work on it and replace one headlight but this did not correct the problem. Dealer said this was normal. Notice the flicker when i go over bumps or when cornering to the left.

While driving at night the headlights and dash lights flicker off and on.this condition only occurs while traveling at speeds above 35 mph and when hitting a bump or making a curve.this condition is not only distracting, but when driving at night with no other ambient light i am unable to see adequately ahead of my vehicle.i have had drivers ahead of me pull over thinking that i was flashing my lights at them and other drivers get irate believing that i am "bright lighting them".this is a safety issue that appears to be widespread on the denali's with stabilitrak.gm states that this condition is "normal".i believe that headlights are meant to burn steady and not flicker off and on.i am requesting that nhtsa investigate this with the auto manufacturer to mandate a fix before there are injuries attributed to this condition.

Having electrical problems with the vehicle.seats will move while driving, heater in seats come on with out light indicating that they are on.air conditioning speeds will vary.there are to many problems.but the main one was putting the car in drive and it would go into reverse.

I have a 2003 yukon denali i purchased and it has given me the reduced engine power lightand almost had a few accidents on the highway because it drops the speed to 20 mph also it has the check engine codes as p0120 and p2135 i have been aware that gm has not found a solution to this and wanted to see if there is any recalls as i am very afraid of being in a very serious accident with my children in the car. The consumer stated the vehicle was repaired and requested withdraw the complaint.

The service engine light and traction control turn on and the information center on my cluster reads "engine power reduced" and "stability system disable", then my speed is reduced and only runs between ten and twenty miles per hour. I have to turn off my truck and turn it back on after a few minutes to continue, but this problem has happened on a daily basis. I think gmc is responsible for this and more similar problems.

My wife was driving 75 mph on the interstate when she heard a "ding" and the information center said "service stability" "engine power reduced" it then took all engine power from the vehicle immediately causing it to slow to a very unsafe 20 mph almost instantly and caused her to narrowly avoid being hit from behind. This happened several more times. We took the vehicle in for service and were told we needed a new throttle body cable which we bought and had them install, but the problem has never gone away. I have read many many complaints about this on the internet but after years of complaining nothing has been done. Does someone have to die before something is done? it certainly seems like it. I filed a complaint with the government several years ago about this issue and i am sure many others have as well. Nothing has ever been done. To cap it off, and the reason i am on this again, is because this past weekend i rented a buick enclave from budget rental cars in little rock arkansas. This was a new vehicle that had only 5 miles on it when i left the lot. At around 65 miles later the vehicle did the same exact thing, and reduced my speed to 25 with an 18 wheeler behind me that had to swerve to miss me as i swerved to the shoulder to get out of the way. Please do something before someone is killed!!!

Loss of power without warning , while on highway. From 65mph to 0 without warning. Almost caused a crash pile up....was almost rear ended. Very dangerous...whole family children and all was in the vehicle.

Engine leaking oil rear crank seal and plate. Gmc said seal will not be enough, need to replace plate. Defective. My mechanic charged me $710.41. Gmc should be reimbursing me.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated that the traction control and the reduced engine power warning lights illuminated and caused the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the engine, which resumed normally. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 213,000.

I was driving approximately 65 mph uphill when my engine and traction light came on. My speed was immediately reduced to about 35 mph even though i tried to accelerate. I drove home about 8 miles at a reduced speed because i had my children in the truck and it was raining. I took the truck to a mechanic the next day and he replaced the throttle body. I picked up the truck that evening and as i was driving home the same thing happened again. I took the truck back to the mechanic, the check engine light and tc light was on again however he said that there was nothing wrong. His thought was to replace the throttle body again. Two replacements later, the problem remains.

We have a 2003 yukon that will shuts down anywhere and anytime, the following example has happened more than once. We were driving on the highway when "reduced engine power" "stability traction loss" appeared on display - i pressed the accelerator and the vehicle would not move. I had to completely shut down the engine wait a few minutes then restart in order for the vehicle to operate correctly and a couple miles down the road, it happened again. It was a snowy mess out side which made the situation worse.this is a major safety concern as i am unable to accelerate in order to avoid an accident. I get scared because there could be a semi behind us and it will just plow into us because we can not do anything until we shut down the engine and restart. Very scary. We researched this issue to find other people are in the same situation and no one seems to know how to fix it.this is a long standing issue, gm is aware of this issue but will not issue a recall. Gm seems to be having alot of problems that they are not dealing with. Shame on gm!

Randomly, the truck will go from driving completely normal to getting a message saying "reduced engine power" and then it cuts off power. This has happened 10 to 12 times, the last time it happened i could not drive more than approx 35 mph even with the gas pedal floored. We have replaced the supposedly defective part(s) to no avail.

Head light flicker while driving and turning or going over bumps.appears to make drivers think i am flashing my high beams.dealer could not duplicate problem.very distracting while driving, not only to me but people who are ahead of me.dealer was not very concerned about problem and sent me on my way.i feel like this is a safety issue and should be taken care of.this is not an intermittent problem, it happens every time i drive at night.

'03 yukon denali - while driving in complete darkness while making a left sweeping turn every visible interior light turns of and on for 1-2 sec.this includes headlights.this is becoming very dangerous and distracting to other drivers.the dealer blames it on a loose headlight switch.they replaced it.that did not solve the problem.on another night trip, the same event occured again.the dealer replaced the altenator.it still does it.the dealer says they noe have no idea.i really need help.i'm concerned about complete loss while in darkness and subsequently hitting a divider.

We were driving at highway speed and lost power with no warning.i coasted to the side of the highway avoiding one collision.i had it towed back to home.the dealer had to clean the throttle body.i contacted gm and asked where was this cleaning for preventive maintenance.they could not answer.i am fearful for others who have this type of vehicle.without cleaning the throttle body others will have this problem too.i went to several internet forums and many others have stated this problem.http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0e807e/227please help![xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The seat belts in my 2003 gmc yukon denali keep coming unbuckled. No matter how many i replace. Also i've have a problem with the traction control coming on. It's almost caused a couple of accidents. I've taken the vehicle to the gmc dealership and they've informed me that they've come across this issue a number of times and have never fixed the issue and to just tap my gas pedal twice to take the vehicle out of the traction control.

- the contact ownsa 2003 yukon denali.the contactcomplainedaboutfront passenger seat belt problem. The contact stated that the seat belt periodically got n stuck, andonehadto unbuckle it and try again.this failure has been happening for at least a year. The failureoccurred 50 times.the failure mileage and current mileage were both 10,0000.

My heated seats stopped working. When my truck was in the shop with my mechanic i asked if he could look and see what the issue is. When he took apart the seat the heating pad was burnt to a crisp. He called the gm dealer near by and asked what the issue could be and they said a short in the heating pad wire. This part obviously caught fire in my vehicle. I called gm corporate today and they said since the repair was not done at gm there is nothing they will do for me. My car could have completed caught fire with myself and my daughter in it. Just because the repair was not done there but the parts were bought at the gm dealer they wont reimburse me for the parts and labor. This is not a recall item from what i can see online.

Brakes lines rusted which led to catastrophic failure of brake system. Repair cost $1,000. There are multiple thousands of complaints regarding this type of brake failure in this make, model, & year. This should be a mandatory factory recall. Someone is going to die because gm is not being forced to fix their faulty equipment. My vehicle was in motion and when i depressed the brake pedal the pedal went completely to the floorboard. I was driving straight ahead in moderate city traffic & narrowly missed striking the vehicle in front of me on a city street. My master cylinder was completely empty of brake fluid when examined.i was traveling 25 mph and my vehicle has 110,000 miles. (the next page wouldn't allow me to enter the speed & mileage information where it was requested)

My daughter was driving and when slowing down the brakes failed to work. The vehicle was not able to stop and collided with the vehicle in front. Luckily nobody was injured in this collision. After inspection,i noticed fluid on the ground at the rear left (driver's side rear), and looked under the vehicle to see where the fluid may be coming from. I saw that there was fluid coating a large area of the underbody, and also see the brake line attached to the frame as wet and rusted.i have pictures saved as a reference.

I was driving home at night after getting gas in the middle of the gas shortage during the major snow storm in the north eastern united states. As i was approaching a light i pressed on the brakes and it went straight to the floor. I then brought it to a mechanic and when it was placed on a lift they noticed the entire bottom of the car was rusted including the brake lines. They ended up replacing the entire brake line system due to excessive rust.

Brakes failed while driving on city street with no warning could not stop at red light. Immediately pulled over and noticed brake fluid leaking from left side of vehicle from a broken brake line.

After stepping on my brakes aggressively to stop for a dog crossing the road. I received a brake stability notice on my dash. Since i was in the middle of the road, i put the car into drive to get over to the side of the road. The car did not slow down after i pumped the brakes, and tried to throw the car in reverse to reduce the speed. I coasted into a parked subaru on the side of the road and because of the rear impact the subaru that i hit pushed into toyota highlander in front of it. Therefore three cars affected by the accident. My children were in the car with me and that was the worst part, i would have coasted right into a busy intersection on main street had i not stopped the way that i did. After taking the truck to my mechanic he mentioned that i popped two brake lines.

I was traveling down a city street and went to stop at a red light. I applied the brakes and the pedal was very soft so i pushed a little harder and the pedal went to the floor. I had to swerve into a gas station parking lot to avoid an accident and apply the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. I crawled under the vehicle and saw that there was brake fluid dripping from the floor and the hard lines under the driver side floor.it is getting taken to the dealer tonight to have the issue fixed. Please make gm responsible for this issue and to pay us back as this is a very dangerous problem and very expensive to fix.if i would have hit the brake a couple seconds later i would have missed the entrance to the gas station and rear-end the vehicle in front of me.

Rusted brake lines caused immediate loss with no warning.loss of brakes were catastrophic with only emergency brakes available.car came to a controlled stop on median but could of been much worse given no other vehicles in the vicinity.

Driving along when all of a sudden i needed to brake for curve and the brake pedal went down to the floor. I ran off into a grassy field to prevent a serious injury.

Brake line burst while under a hard braking scenario. Further inspection revealed all lines under and up to the proportioning valve are all rotting to the point of needing to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon denali. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, she attempted to brake but the vehicle did not brake. The contact had to remove her foot from the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer. The dealer stated that they needed to replace the brake lines. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were 120,000.

The front left brake would lock up during right turns. Would have to release brake pedal to control steering.brought vehicle to gmc dealer. Unable to locate the problem.

All of the brake lines are completely rusted out.my wife had a complete brake failure while driving my daughter to school.brake line over frame leading front to back failed and completely emptied the master cylinder of brake fluid, result car would not stop.this must be made into a recall, as the possibility of a major accident and loss of life is very probable.

Total brake failure after a long trip.the consumer stated the brake failure was a result of rusted brake lines. Updated 05/08/12

I have a 2003 gmc yukon denali with approximately 12k miles when the brake lines corroded and caused brake failure. No accident,no injuries . It seems like the whole undercarriage is corroding. Vehicle was taken out of service to be repaired. Seems to be a safety issue of importance.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc yukon denali. While the contact was driving approximately 30 mph on wet road conditions; approaching a traffic stop light, the brake pedal traveled to the floor with pressure applied. The vehicle failed to slow down and crashed into a pole. The contact sustained injuries to the head and body. There was no mention of a police report filed for the incident. The insurance company did not investigate the failure. The contact stated the defect was related to a manufacturer investigation action number pe10010 (service brakes, hydraulic: power assist: hydraulic: hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The vehicle was repaired for the malfunction. The failure mileage was 15,000. The current mileage was 70,005. The vin was unavailable.

I purchased the 2003 yukon used in december 2006.immediately after purchasing this suv i noticed the clunking sound and could feel it in the steering wheel.within a few months i began to notice the lack of steering assist.then last week while making a right turn onto a side street, the steering completely locked up causing me to almost side swipe a car in the opposing lane.i had to jam on my brakes to avoid slamming into the other car.my mechanic said that he thought there had been a recall issued, but could not locate any documentation.i researched your web site and found dozens ofcomplaints regarding this very same steering failure, but no recall information was found.please advise.

The steering column of my 2003 yukon denali with 50,910 miles got loose. I took vehicule to a gmc dealer to get it check and they told me that the upper steering bearing was failing and recommended immediate repairs that would cost me $698.12. I contacted gmc and they decide to fix this problem at no charge to me. When i took the vehicule to get the steering column fix i mentioned to the service department employee that my steering wheel started to get tight during turns and if this problem was related to the other one. They inspected vehicule and found out that the power steering pump is failing too. I called gmc again to let them know about this and they told me that they would not fix this problem at no charge because they just fix the other one at no charge and that i have not spend a lot of money out of my pocket yet for repairs on this vehicule.

There are several problems with my 2003 yukon denali. First, the dash trim is creaky and makes alot of noise. The air conditioner is not very cold. When i break and slightly release i get this moaning like noise from underneath the truck. Finally, on one of the running boards the paint is pealing off. I am not very pleased by all these defects, especially from a 50,000 dollar truck.

I live in florida- it was approx 8 am, sitting outside drinking coffee on my porch.vehicle had been parked since prior afternoon and was locked (alarm engaged).suddenly, my rear window spontaneously 'exploded'.there was glass everywhere both inside and outside of the vehicle.after researching what could've caused something like thisto happen, there are innumerable reports of this happening to other gmc owners without any plausible explanation.this is a very concerning issue as glass flew everywhere in and around my vehicle and it is by pure luck that my 15 year old daughterand usually at least 1-2 of her friends, along with my one year old daughter, who naturally, is in the rear of the vehicle.myself or anyone else merely walking by the vehicle could've been injured just walking by. Had someone been near my vehicle in a public place, i.e. Grocery store parking lot, etc. They could've been injured by the shards of glass that shot out and landed 4+ feet from the vehicle, leaving me at risk of further civil actio and possible suit.i am also a protective investigator for the state of florida and often times have other children in my vehicle.this is both a huge civil, and most importantly, safety concern.this is not okay and is not a fluke incident based upon so many reported incidents from so many other gmc owners.gmc refuses to help.a recall on these rear windshields are a must and i cannot believe that one is not been issued in all of the years that this has been happening to people. This is not okay.

Loss of power without warning , while on highway. From 65mph to 0 without warning. Almost caused a crash pile up....was almost rear ended. Very dangerous...whole family children and all was in the vehicle.

Wiper blades do not clear drivers side of windshield at speeds greater than 55 mph. This makes it difficult to drive during rain day or night - especially at night when the water film disperses the light and makes it difficult to see.

When the top right hinge broke away from the glass on the rear door of my 2003 yukon denali (~50,000 mi.), and after discussing it with my dealer, i thought it was an isolated case. The resulting twisting of the misaligned window has caused the left hinge bond to partially crack and separate as well.my vehicle is garaged 90+% of the time and i seldom used the rear window.currently, the only thing holding this window to the vehicle is the door lock and one partial (left) hinge.it is a disaster waiting to happen.my dealer would not do anything, other than replace the entire back door at $1,000.my insurance company wouldn't either saying there was no broken glass.i feel the above defect, along with over 100 forum exact same descriptions are just a small portion of this total problem with both the chevy and gmc vehicles of this era.

Hinge on glass in trunk door broke.
