Read complaints for GMC YUKON DENALI XL (2015)

Vehicle tail lights and brake lights quit working. The led circuits break causing the connection to short out. Both the tail lights and brake lights do not work once the circuit is broke. The owner can't simply fix the burnt out tail light. One must completely replace the entire assembly, costing upwards of $1,000 for both. This is not cost effective and is downright hazardous when both tail lights go out, for both the owner and other drivers on the road. The tail light assembly should be able to resist road bumps and vibrations.

Just got this vehicle 2 months ago. Brake lights seem to work when the want to. Have read others reviews and seems everyone with this vehicle is having the same issue! the cruise control works when it wants too,. Check engine light is off and on had it checked once while on and was told it's an o2 sensor. When the check engine light is on remote start won't work. Seems the brake light issue is purposeful since so many people have the same issue and it costs so dang much to fix it! for such a nice vehicle and expensive payment you would think there would be no issues.

Right side led brake lights are not working. It is a known problem with the electrical traces in side the sealed light. Replacement is $600!

I put in another complaint and forgot to add maybe the most important details!!!! i have noticed my cruise control, check engine light, brake lights, and remote start though i'm having issues with them all working only when they want to it seems when it's hot outside all of these things go hay wire and when it's freezing cold (colorado winter) everything works fine. Today high of 40 everything is working fine... Highs in the 80+ everything seems to not work. So it's basically boiling down to electrical issues when it's hot and no issues when it's freezing cold. Can someone please fix this!!!! i've seen numerous complaints of others having the same issues with heat and electrical issues.(cargurus.com) please someone do something gm needs to fix this!!!!!!!!i only hope others have made these complaints so gm can be held responsible! 800$ for a brake light get out of here!!!!!!!! and that's just the price to fix the brake light when it decides not to work and i'm not paying that much to fix one issue when it seems to be something with this vehicle and heat!

Approximately 51,000 miles on vehicle: rear passenger tail light is inop. We were on a trip when we noticed, if you tap the side of it the light would come on for just a second. Led strip for brake light is defective. Replacement cost is about $800 dollars.lots of complaints and online forums regarding this issue. Gmc really need to resolve this isssue. These rigs cost way to much for that poor quality!

Rear passenger brake light works intermittantly while driving.

Led lights in the rear are repeatedly defective

While in motion my vehicle shuts completely off. This is in the middle of traffic at times. It displays warnings that stabilitrack has been disabled and shuits down everything electrical. At some points it doesnt shut completely down, but instead hesitates and then picks back up. This happens in various situations whether it be on the highway, turning, or driving city roads.

Led brake lights failed in both tail lamps. Led is supposed to be a longer lasting alternative to standard lights. Unfortunately the way gm designed these you cannot service or repair them like you can with a traditional bulb. After much research it appears that there is a thin strip that breaks in the circuit causing both taillamps to loose functionality, there is no bulb out warning so the driver is not alerted. And with no brake lamps this could result in a crash or injury.

Tail lights intermittently go out without notice. This can happen while driving or stationary

Faulty brake-light and costly fix. Dealership has taillight on back order so a replacement isnt even available.dealership wants $675 just for the part that cant even be ordered.dangerous to drive the vehicle with no solution available.

At 75,000 miles i wouldn't expect to have this many issues out of such a nice expensive truck... The check engine lights comes on and off and it pleases. When the check engine light is on the remote start doesn't work. The tail lights work when they want to and to fix a tail light just 1 is $800.00. While driving all types of warnings and lights start coming on in a rapid warning annoyance. I've never hooked a trailer to this truck and it keeps giving me some type of trailer braking system warning. The cruise control works when it wants to. Big issue!!!!! the transmission is slipping!!!!!!!!!!!! when driving it will give a hard jerk as if it's having trouble shifting. Doing this at any speeds, anytime during accelerating. So many issues out of this truck it's to the point we are throwing away a ton of money onthis thing!!!!!

Car was parked in covered garage for 2 months.battery went dead.attempted to charge battery with 20 amp charger and battery would not take a charge.attempted to start car with battery booster pack and lights would come on, but car would not start sitting in vehicle with key fob.console display said that steering wheel was locked.called aaa and they came out to replace battery.it was the original battery...but had worked perfectly when car was parked earlier.new battery allowed lights and all other functions to work, but car would still not start. I closed doors....hood and then was able to start car with key fob remote starter.car worked perfectly.shut car off and tried to start again and would not start normally, but would start fine remotely.called dealership and they had not heard of this issue, and i made appointment to bring in.two days before appointment, car would not even start remotely.only thing that happened was that outside mirrors would retract when i tried to start remotely.paid $90 to have car flatbed towed to delearship. Paid $234.99 for dealership to clear all codes and reprogram.have called gmc several times and they refuse to acknowledge problem or reimburse me. Dealership had never seen this issue before and told me when they spoke with gmc technical department that this issue had never occurred.i find that very suspicious.how could a bad battery trigger a computer to not allow the car to start.this is a very dangerous situation because if i was stranded on a highway and the battery went dead and a new battery or jump start would not allow computer to start car, there could be unfortunate consequences.i have owned dozens of cars with theft deterrent systems and a bad battery that has been replaced has never triggered the system to make the vehicle unable to start.please advise.thanks

Takata recallwas pulled over because my passenger tail light was not working. Tail light was working the next day, and the following day it had gone out again. Light would come back on when you hit it by hand.

2015 gmc yukon xl have a condition that allow water to leak into the vehicle's roof-mounted antenna. This condition preventsthe vehicle's onstar system from accurately determining the vehicle's location; disable the vehicle's compass, navigation, and xm radio systems; illuminate the vehicle's red onstar led indicator.gmc customer satisfaction program ' loss of gps, onstar and xm antenna functions ' 2015 cadillac chevrolet gmc 15155 expired august 2017 but does not address a solution for the vehicles that missed the deadline.

'takata recall'we just purchased our 2015 yukon dinali xl december 20, 2018 and have had nothing but problems with brake light ( while in motion ) on driver-side working intermittently, so we replaced both taillights with brand new ($700) enclosed rear light assembly and now we are having an issue with driver side once again. I'm very proud to buy american made products but after seeing how many gmc monthly complaints with this same issue, you would think that gm would stand behind their product. I know myself being in business if i had a complains more than three times a month i would try my best to correct the problem to keep from having a bad reputation and have a future customers!!i take pride in my work for what our customer pays, and expect the same for what i pay!!

Suv shuttering and shaking while in motion on city streets and highway

1. While driving steering wheel was making a clicking noise when turning. Dealer replaced upper steering column bearing and turn signal.three months later dealer replaced steering column again due to same issue.2. One month later both front coil springs were replaced.3. When replaced springs, dealer found that left front upper ball joint was loose so replaced upper ball joint and upper control arm.4. After replacing above mentioned parts, noise was still present when driving so dealer replaced both left and right front struts.5. The following month right front strut was replaced again due to noise while driving.6. One month after that service the radiator began leaking while on the road and the dealer replaced the radiator.7. 07/12/2017 left front strut was replaced again.this is the 4th strut put in this vehicle.8. 07/12/2017 a/c stopped working.dealer said it needs new condenser which is on back order indefinitely at this point so not able to fix at this time.these issues happened over a period of 18 months.not at a specific time.the steering column is still making a clicking noise while turning.we have taken the vehicle back, however the dealer says they are unable to duplicate the noise.if they end up replacing the steering column again it will be the third time.this vehicle is not trust worthy to drive long distances or cross country.very disappointing for a $70,000 new vehicle.

A year ago, i was at service at the same dealer with a transmission problem(torque converter) with my gmc yukon xl 2015. Warranty transmission was made 08/2017. On 10/18/18, in the city of atlanta ga on highway 400, the car began to twitch when you press the gas and vibrate strongly, uttering sounds of howling, driving was not safety!!! re-issue repair from diller carl black buick gmc roswell ga.

My passenger side tail brake light works inconsistently

Vehicle started having a vibration at cruising speeds after 100k miles. Dealership states the driveshaft is wharped and needs replacing.. Rear taillights also are going in and out intermittently. Dealer claims the leds are bad and the whole light assembly needs replacing. I have owned many vehicles and have never had issues with a bent driveshaft or defective taillights that require the whole assembly to be replaced. The light assembly is $750 quoted by dealership.

Driver's side, rear tail light failed to light when parked, or when depressing the brake pedal.dealership quoted just under $800 to replace.had light replaced, and the same thing is happening again.dealer states that "lights go out sometimes."

The passenger side taillight started 'going out' right after the warranty expired-meaning, it would work off and on at various times. Then the drivers side taillight has started doing the same thing. This is a known issue with the gmc taillights and yet gmc has yet to recognize any issue. This is a major safety issue for anyone driving these models with failing taillights. This needs to be investigated

Both rear tail lights have gone out.

Faulty, poorly made tail lights that need to be entirely replaced (not just the bulb) at more than $700 each. When spending so much on a car, this is literally insane not to be covered under any warranty. Gmc drivers deserve more than this poorly made led light system. The plastic window trim pieces also detach due to cheap plastic clips. I've had to literally use double sided tape and glue to stick them back on a $70k+ car. It's hundreds of dollars to replace pieces that are literally part of the body of the vehicle.

The passenger side taillight has failed. This was not due to collision, and it appears to be a wide spread issue after reading hundreds of similar complaints online.

Vehicle has under 45,000 miles and both headlights need to be replaced due to malfunctioning led's from water intrusion. This happens after washing my car and now it will not pass state inspection due to driver side daytime led not turning on, and passenger side drl not turning off. I can not get this fixed because the passenger side light is on backorder, yet my local dealer said this isn't a known problem.take a look on the internet and it's clearly a manufacturing issue (hence backordered headlights)

Driver rear brake light is out.

We have had both our taillights fail. The blinkers still function but because they are led they say they must replace the whole unit. Each side cost $672. That is outrageous for a taillight. There needs to be a way to replace each piece.

Our passenger taillight went out and the dealership cost to replace it was $811. I called gmc customer service and after 4 days and multiple phone calls the best they could offer in financial assistance was $80. I asked the dealership if i could have the broken light and they wanted me to pay $50 to take it with me. A google search turned up many instances of this happening. The dealership told me that they replace 1-2 per week. The taillight replacement on the yukon family is a scam. It is unethical for them to charge that much for a replacement when it is inown to be defective. The car is less than 4 years old and has 66k miles and has not been in any collisions. Just normal routine use resulted in a costly repair and, more importantly, irresponsible customer service from the gmc employees who were in charge of handling my case.

Drivers side brake light sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

The rear led brake tail light stopped working due to a crack in the conductive plate inside the assembly.

Led lights in the rear are repeatedly defective

'takata recall'we just purchased our 2015 yukon dinali xl december 20, 2018 and have had nothing but problems with brake light ( while in motion ) on driver-side working intermittently, so we replaced both taillights with brand new ($700) enclosed rear light assembly and now we are having an issue with driver side once again. At 44k miles on the vehicle, noticed that the left rear brake lights (leds) were not illuminating when the brake was applied, at rest or while driving. This includes both the tail lights and brake lights. Physically tapping on the housing lights them up temporarily, but it does not stay lit.dealer wants over 700 dollars to replace the entire assembly.doing research online shows many many other owners with these led tail light assemblys with the exact same issue.the part is defective, in that the circuit inside the assemble brakes, and the lights will not light up.the led bulbs themselves still would work, if the circuit to them was not defective.someone needs to step up and call out the manufacture on this one.its a manufacturer defect, not bad bulbs!please help.here is one forum that has many people talking about it.https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t53845_ds768963

Rear left tail light and brake light work intermittently.yet started happening and car will not pass inspection in the state of va.when noticed the vehicle was parked, but have also seen while driving.

Vehicle was manufactured mid 2014, 2015 model, currently has just over 52k miles.drivers side taillight is being temperamental; no warning lights inside to indicate a failure.when you press on the taillight it still illuminates, there are no leds out, but taillight and brake light won't illuminate.called the dealership and they've stated if found faulty it requires complete replacement of the taillight and it was quoted at roughly $850 installed, which seems really excessive when a taillight goes out.

The tail lights on both sides are led lights.they are working intermittently.one side will sometimes come back on if i bump it with my hand.my vehicle had less than 50,000 miles on it when this started occurring but was out of warranty.i have been told that it will cost approximately $1500 to fix.i have also been told by the dealer that this is a commen problem with the 2015 model.i feel that this is an extreme safety issue and should be replaced by gm through a recall.because the lights work intermittently, it is obviously a short or defect of some kind.

Led brake light already burnt out and only 2 years old.over $600 to fix a light that is suppose to have a unlimited life....

Replaced both front struts at around 91,000 miles. Dealer said struts had "locked up".dealer replaced struts on february 19, 2018 at a cost of $1,818.66.led brake lights quit working. Not sure of exact date when the brake lights quit working.

Passenger side led brake light does not work when braking.assembly has been removed and switched with driver side to verify that it is not the wiring harness or any electrical between the brakes and the led brake lights.

After about 1 year of owning this very expensive vehicle (bought it when it was about 2 years old, ie. 2017) used from a gmc dealer - the drivers side tail light started working only intermittently and then stop working all together.i had the dealer estimate the replacement cost and they told me it would be $1,500 to replace both tail lights (said i needed to replace the entire assembly because they were led????).this is absurd on so many levels...these are one of the most expensive vehicles on the market and within only a few years the tail lights need to replaced...at an outrageous cost.my last yukon (2007) didn't have a tail light go out for many years...and i bought a replacement bulb for $3 and did it myself.after doing some research, it appears to be a "common" issue for these gmc vehicles...and the fact that gmc is well aware of this is doing nothing about a known and persistent issue is frustrating.

Tail light no longer working. Safety hazard. It started flashing intermittently and smelling funny now it won't work at all. This will cause an accident and of course it's not under warranty as i'm at 60k but gmc will do nothing for it even though this is a widely known issue. I contacted them and they will do nothing!

Right side tail light is not workingtransmission is clunks when selecting drive from reverse.when rolling slow in a parking lot, sometimes the transmission has a very harsh clunk as if someone has hit me in the rearend.the steering column has a popping noise when turning left.

There is a flaw in the led strip of the rear tail lights. The led strip breaks over time disabling the tail lights. The tail light assembly is sealed and must either be replaced or broken into so a jumper can be soldered across the break to repair the tail light.

Tail lights intermittently go out without notice. This can happen while driving or stationary

Vehicle tail lights and brake lights quit working. The led circuits break causing the connection to short out. Both the tail lights and brake lights do not work once the circuit is broke. Faulty brake-light and costly fix. Dealership has taillight on back order so a replacement isnt even available.dealership wants $675 just for the part that cant even be ordered.dangerous to drive the vehicle with no solution available.

The brake lights in this vehicle are faulty.my driver side went out in july and in the same month my passenger side went out.the bulbs are not burned out and it has to do with the wiring.gmc will not cover the second light or provide cost assistance because i am out of warranty due to miles.

Both rear light assemblies have had issues. Drivers side was first, brake light stopped working. Replaced under warranty. Passenger side brake light and parking light have now stopped working, just out of warranty. Problem comes and goes depending on temperature. I would think this would be considered a safety issue and be the subject of a recall since it is wide spread.

The brake lights work intermittently.

Tail lights work intermittently.some times they are working fine, and then for some reason one or both will shut off at different times for no apparent reason.

Tailight brake light not working, no replacement bulb available, gm says must be entire unit and housing for $701. This is ridiculous and onerous. This is clearly a defective design and defective part. Should be replaced or repaired for free.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon denali xl. The contact stated that the passengerā€™s side taillight failed to illuminate intermittently while depressing the brake pedal. Over time, the driverā€™s side taillight also would fail to illuminate with the brake pedal depressed. The contact then received a warranty notice from the local dealer about the failure however, the contact was informed when speaking to the dealer that due to the mileage on her vehicle, the vehicle no longer qualified under the warranty program. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon denali xl. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted an abnormal fuel odor. Upon inspection, the contact observed a puddle of fuel on the ground. The contact also noticed that the fuel tank and fuel line did not have enough space in between them, which caused a hole to develop in the fuel line. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.*consumer stated fuel was leaking from pressure line to engine above fuel tank.when tank was removed the fuel line had rubbed a hole in itself from the where it clips into the tank. The line had pushed out almost 2 gallon of fuel in less then 10 minutes of idling time in my garage. Update 11/1/18

Active fuel management system in 2015 gmc yukon denali xl--engine was running in traffic and stalled out at intersection making a turn. Dealership diagnosed as bent push rod, broken valve spring, broken lifter. This has been linked to faulty active fuel management system with gmc engines. There is an active service bulletin from gm concerning this problem. Under existing powertrain warranty, gm agrees to fix the broken engine components, but will not address the underlying root cause of the problem, the afm system. The gm customer service rep stated that it is not gm's current policy to address the afm system even though it is a known problem. The dealership service department agrees this is the problem. Documentation online from other consumers validates that this is a widespread issue. It is a safety concern because unless the afm system is addressed, there is a risk the engine will fail in traffic. I feel like gm is unwilling to address this issues because there is no easy, cheap fix and the problem is so widespread in its vehicles with afm systems. It is a potential public traffic safety concern as these engines age.

A year ago, i was at service at the same dealer with a transmission problem(torque converter) with my gmc yukon xl 2015. Warranty transmission was made 08/2017. The contact owns a 2015 gmc yukon denali xl. While attempting to shift the vehicle from park into drive, the transmission made a hard clunking sound. Also, while driving between 30-50 mph, the vehicle vibrated abnormally. The vehicle was taken to lewis chevrolet buick of liberal (located at 202 n grant ave, liberal, ks 67901, (620) 624-2584) where it was diagnosed that the transmission fluid needed to be flushed and refilled. The vehicle was serviced, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

When coming to a stop there would be a sudden surge and it felt like the vehilce was being pushed forward. There has been a few occasions where we almost hit something in front of us because of this surge. There was a bad shutter though out the vehicle at 30 to 50 mph. Made complaints to dealer. They couldn't duplicate the problem. This was at roughly 6k miles at the time of the first oil change. At 10k miles the vehicle stalled out and died in our drive way after putting it into reverse to back out. The vehicle rolled back into the street as our driveway is at a incline with out any functions or controls. Lucky traffic was light and they were able to avoid hitting us. I was able to start it eventually and drove its strait to the dealership. They found the torque converter went bad and replaced it. Complained about the rough ride, noises and loose feel coming from the front end several times at 20,000 miles and 30,000 miles. When driving the vehicle over bumps while in a curve the vehicle would jerk to the side pulling the steering wheel hard to the side it was pulled towards. There were a few occasions where we almost hit a vehicle or concrete wall. They finally replace some components on the front end. No more noises from the front end for about 2,000 miles and then it comes back. The shutter is back along with erratic shifting. Service replaces the torque converter again at 45,000 miles. This time it last a little bit long and i don't start having issue with the torque converter until nearly 60,000 miles. The front end still pops, creaked and feels loose at times and the torque convertor is still failing.

My yukon makes very hard shifts when accelerating and decelerating. The tcm was reprogrammed after vehicle shut off on the high way last november. Now the truck shudders between 25 and 45mph especially when climbing or filled with passengers. Vibration can be felt through the cabin.

Vehicle tail lights and brake lights quit working. The led circuits break causing the connection to short out. Both the tail lights and brake lights do not work once the circuit is broke. My steering wheel pops when turning it.dealer tried repair, but continues to pop.now out of warranty, and worse than before.$1,000 charge to replace the upper bearing.

1. While driving steering wheel was making a clicking noise when turning. Dealer replaced upper steering column bearing and turn signal.three months later dealer replaced steering column again due to same issue.2. One month later both front coil springs were replaced.3. My gmc yukon xl vibrates badly at all speeds but intensifies at speeds between 40-55. The vibration can be felt through the whole frame of the car. The cabin creates a throbbiing sound, like a helicopter inside the car. The steering wheel vibrates. The car consumes oil at an alarming rate with no visible leaks or noticable exhaust. The car surges unexpectedly somethines around corners or backing out of parking spots. And the rear "clunks" when accelerating from a slow speed such as onto a highway entrance ramp. The rearview camera a is totally worthelss in low light levels and cannot be used for safe back up operations. Dealer has had the car for over 50 days and has replaced the transmission, replaced the torque converter, has replaced the struts and shocks and has changed fluisd as per gm instruction.in all this time and over 6 visits, they cannot fix and have told me that gm has said this is the "new normal". If this is normal, why did they spend so much to try and fix somethig that was not wrong?the dealer also told me that the rear view camera will not work properly becuase of all of the factory options on the car and that degrades the quoality of the image.gm has not contacted me although i have requested through the dealer that they do so. I see this is a common problem with gmc cars of this years model.i woul dlike to see action taken against gmc to correct this or make me whole.

Replaced both front struts at around 91,000 miles. Dealer said struts had "locked up".dealer replaced struts on february 19, 2018 at a cost of $1,818.66.led brake lights quit working. Not sure of exact date when the brake lights quit working.

The wheels have corrosion and sharp edges have started to form.these sharp edges are putting pressure on the the tires causing them to lose air.we were required to purchase new wheels as the only solution.wheels should last the life of a vehicle, not four years.

Ac condenser leaking at 72000 miles, so outside of warranty.should be covered regardless of mileage due to a known issue in special program 17336.bought this certified from dealer in 2017.ac just stopped cooling a couple of weeks ago, just blows warm air.impacts defrosting.

Vehicle started to blow hot air when air conditioner was on.brought this in to get it fixed twice and last time we were informed that there is a hole in the condenser and that gm is trying to find a manufacturer for the part but have no timetable as to when the part will be available.we also called gm and they confirmed that there is an issue but have no timetable on when this will be fixed.they were working with one manufacturer that hasn't been able to produced the part so now they are working with another manufacturer.for the safety of my children, this is unacceptable.

A/c in automobile stopped working. There are allegedly two defective parts in this vehicle. The discharge line and the condenser. Both are too weak to handle the pressure from the coolant

Suv shuttering and shaking while in motion on city streets and highway

A/c condenser is leaking. The part is on back order for months. This problem needs to be looked at as a recall.

A/c stopped working and was told it was due to bad condenser and the part gets damaged where it bolts onto the radiator.was told that a part would be ordered but there is no eta on when the part will be delivered due to nationwide shortage of part due to so many problems.also, dealer notified me that gm was only allowing one condenser to be ordered per vin as supply is so short because of the problem.ac doesn't work.can't drive with my two children and dog in the car when the temperature is over 80 degrees.son has asthma and we rely on the ac to be working.

Sunroof:while traveling on the road at 55mph, my sunroof, which was closed, randomly exploded.you can see the glass actually pushed up and out when it blew.we had glass everywhere in the vehicle.there were no other vehicles around me and there was nothing that came through the window.it was a nice sunny day, no rain or other reason for this to have happened. I stopped right away and took photos of the damage.i called my insurance company right away and am waiting for the sunroof to be replaced.
