Read complaints for GMC YUKON DENALI XL (2011)

Dash has cracked almost in half above the instrument cluster. Am concerned about air bag deployment being compromised or sending shards into the passenger compartment.

Crack in dash over passenger side airbag

"takata recall" dashboard is cracked near passenger side airbag and over the the steering wheel.

There are 2 cracks on the front dashboard - one on the right and one on the left.our fear is that if the airbags deploy the dash will fly up and injure the passengers in the car.we have 4 children in car seats in the vehicle with us.

Takata recallwe received a recall letter and scheduled an appointment with beck and masten for today to have this addressed.i was contacted this morning and told that no parts are available and my appointment was cancelled.we contacted gm and spoke with mary, then shane and finally brenda and we were told that until there was an "event" (which i interpreted as a death) that there was nothing that gmc would do to remedy the issue.brenda refused to escalate any further in gm after being asked 7 times for her boss's information.

The dashboard has cracked in two separate place. I am extremely concerned that should the passenger air bag deploy that the section of dash now unattached will be send flying into the passenger compartment causing a fatal wound. This is now the 2nd vehicle i have purchased where this has occurred. There is an obvious safety defect in the dashboard of the full size gm truck/suv platform and a recall should be issued. The vehicle was stationary overnight when this cracking occurred both times.

The crack inmy dash is now from the airbag to the vent.it has cracked completely through.i am concerned it will cause my passenger side airbag to deploy.

Our yukon has a crack on the corner of the passenger side airbag, and also a very large crack on the instrument panel hump of the dash.this crack continues to lengthen daily.we have real fears of the plastic breaking apart into sharp shards in the case of an accident.i worry about my teenagers riding in the front seat as i don't want them injured.additionally we have concerns about the crack near the airbag breaking the dash into pieces if the airbag inflates.we received the takata airbag recall over a year ago, and are still waiting for replacement.we are members of a facebook group with 6,200+ members, all with cracks in gm vehicles in the exact location.gm denies that this is a defective part and tries to blame the issue on car being in the hot sun, use of armor all, etc...but it seems to me if everyone has the exact same issue, it's a manufacturing defect.we also own a 2008 gmc yukon denali xl with an identical crack at the airbag corner.

We bought our used gmc yukon denali xl in november 2015. In may we noticed the upper left dashboard of the passenger side upper left corner next to airbag has a few cracks in it. My husband started our car to drive it today and the piece that cracked completely fell into the dashboard leaving a 1" hole. I am concerned that it will effect the airbag and what other effects it may have on the dashboard itself in a safety related way.

Our 2011 gmc yukon denali xl has developed large cracks in the dashboard.one is located behind the instrument panel and at the corner of the airbag.we have concerns if the passenger side airbag ever deploys, sharp pieces of the broken dash may break loose and injure passengers in our vehicle.

Takata recall gm recall 49151 to replace the passenger side air bag inflator.this has yet to be resolved, no further notice has been made of any actions, and research of the matter indicates that 'incomplete remedy not yet available'.after all this time, and that notice was made july 2016, the condition had been investigated by the nhtsa and found no solution.that is unacceptable!my wife, my kids, my friends travel in that seat.what happens to them if this unit ignites with or without a collision type situation, and they get severely burnt, or maimed by this device which is apparently degrading each year they delay.what alternatives do i have now, just wait for it to explode?i really think this has gone far to long already, and needs immediate action before someone gets hurt or killed.thank you.

Dash crack near airbag is a safety hazard in the event of an accident (shrapnel or popped bag).

My dashboard is severely cracked around the passenger side airbag and cluster, which a may cause malfunctioning of the air-bag. I have done numerous searches on the internet and i am seeing this same complaint over and over. I am very curious with it happening so much why this has not been recalled and gmc taken care of this problem. I am extremely worried about safety and the high cost of repairing this myself, but i know it needs to be taken care of. I've owned gmc vehicles forever and have been very happy, up until this point. I think the company needs to address this problem, and quickly.

Dashboard cracking around airbag and we also have a recall regarding the airbag but no remedy

There is a large crack in the dashboard.the crack is located over the area over the driver's air bag which is a safety concern.if the air bag would deploy, broken pieces of plastic could harm the driver as the safety features are weakened.crack occurred when vehicle was parked in a garage.no one , nothing caused the dashboard to crack, it is a defect.

There is a crack in the dash next to the right side air bag.i am concerned it could continue growing and cause the air bag to deploy.

Severely cracked dashboard in multiple places. Extremely concerned about the safety of my family should the airbag inflate, or due to the cracking if it would even operate properly.the crack gets worse every day due to the continuous vibrating of the entire dashboard while driving. Please remedy this before someone gets severely injured or worse. This is a family vehicle, mostly driven by families with 3 or more children, please consider this strongly and fix this problem immediately.

The dashboard has cracked around the passenger airbag opening. My belief is if the vehicle activates the airbag in an accident, the dashboard may split into pieces and send the pieces into the passengers.

Truck started sputtering while driving. I had it towed home and then towed to the dealer and they stated the lifters in the engine were broke and there was damage to the can shaft. Told me this is normal and happens to vehicles like mine regularly. I have only owned the truck three years and have maintained it well with low mileage.they told me it would be $6700 to fix. When i complained, the rep told me $5500. I asked for a supervisor who then stated that gmc would offset the cost and it was now $3311. It would seem that if this is a regular occurrence in vehicles like mine, gmc would do something to ensure it doesn't happen. In addition there is still no remedy available for the tamara inflator.

Takata recall: i am wanting to know when the recall will have a remedy?i had an accident in dec 2016 and the air bags didn't deploy.i had a pretty severe wreck running into 3 vehicles with substantial front end damage including broken tire rod. Below is just a picture of the damage. Body shop was in disbelief that the airbags didn't deploy??

Takata recall - product not available.dashboard cracking in multiple places around airbag with normal use and sun shade used.gmc refuses to repar.

Dash is cracking and connects to airbag. Concerned that it will effect airbag deployment. Safety issue.

Dash cracking.cracks initiated from loose speaker mount load. Cracked first at the ps airbag, then at the ds gauge cluster.

My dash has been slowly cracking, the crack is now in two places, by the air bag and steering wheel and has completely released so it vibrates the whole time i'm driving. Just this week the airbag light is now coming on too.

Takata recall dash board has cracked despite being well cared for.gmc wants $1500 to replace! a cracked dashboard, particularly one that is damaged around the passenger-side airbag, can yield flying projectiles in the event that an accident triggers the airbag to deploy.

Takata recallmy vehicle has been identified as having a defective passenger air bag as indicated in the letters i have received. This is dated july 2016.i contacted my local gmc dealer, where i purchased the vehicle, about getting a replacement. (november 13, 2017)the service department told me that it was safe.those were her exact words.she also stated that gmc was conducting their own safety testing to ensure that they agree with takata in that the airbag is unsafe.she said that my vehicle was safe to drive and that they would contact us when the testing was done.i told her to send me that response in an email.naturally, she said that she could not because they had not reached a resolution yet.my local gmc dealer is courtesy gmc in lafayette, la.337-355-4827

Takata recall: the dashboard on our vehicle is cracked at the air bag on the passenger side and at the steering wheel on the driver side. There is also a takata recall which gmc does not have a remedy. These 2 items have potential to be disastrous when combined together. The inflator exploding and the dash board breaking into pieces and sent throughout the cabin. We are asking for gmc to replace the inflator and replace the dashboard.

Vehicle shut off while driving on the highway.no warning signals and happened multiple times over the course of the day.speed was 70 mph

The seat heater in the rear right seat overheated and caught on fire while my 10 yr. Old child was seated in it. We were in motion at the time on the interstate. I believe the heat mechanism failed and overheated and would not shut off causing the cushion to catch on fire. My insurance will not cover it (i did get a estimate to fix cover and cushion) and they suggested gm should investigate and fix the seat due to a major defect. Gm was no help and wanted to charge me $800 to fix or turn it into insurance. They acted like they have never seen this before and i caused it somehow.

Power liftgate won't open, unlock or lock. Actuator has been changed along with both struts. Could it be the power lift gate module?

While driving the vehicle, the door locksbegan to cycle, nav system and radio on and off. After stopped, remote car lock inoperative, tried to start vehicle and there was no indication of any electrical power with the key on....i thought is was a dead battery. After cycling the ignition key several times, electrical power came back to 'normal' and i was able to drive the car home with my wife and granddaughter. The svc air bag light was on and i took it straight to the gmc dealer for diagnosis and repair. The service adviser immediately knew of the problem.....bad battery cables that either have internal corrosion or break. $594 repair bill to fix the problem. He said he sees about one vehicle per week with this problem and the issue is well presented on youtube by many videos describing the problem. Substandard battery cables are being used on these vehicles and after a short period of time they either begin the break or have internal corrosion and begin to short the vehicles controlling computers. This is a safety issue as it can occur at anytime while operating the vehicle and should be addressed accordingly. Valve lifters need replaced. Researched and this is a common issue several people are having with this type of vehicle. Repair shop also said a common repair for this model.

One week after purchasing the vehicle i broke down due to an oil pressure sensor. Two weeks after that i broke down (stalled out in the road) due to 2 lifters collapsing and the camshaft being damaged. After replacing all lifters, the camshaft, spark plugs and wires, as well as another oil pressure sensor just in case the other one was bad i still have low oil pressure. This cost $3,000.00! i left the shop and broke down on my way home with a flashing engine light and the stabilitrak light and message flashing. It shook so hard i thought it would explode in the road and then stalled out! it was towed back to the shop where it continues to sit. Its been there 3 weeks. Its been at the shop longer than i've gotten to drive it. After googling what might be causing the problem it appears this is not uncommon and gmc/chevrolet is well aware of the faulty engine. Thousands of posts are on different sites complaining how even though they have put their vehicle in the shop and had the repairs done, there is something in the engine that causing the issues again! the manufacturer is well aware they are putting lives at risk repeatedly and causing financial hardships for the consumer but it is obvious they are concerned only about their bottom line and not lives.

The dashboard has crack completely at the airbag and over the instrument panel. The suv has developed these cracks over the last 2 years. Cracks kept expanding until total separation has occurred if loose pieces.

We have owned both a 2007 gmc yukon slt and a 2011 gmc yukon xl denali. In both vehicles, we have started the car on an extreme weather day (cold in the 2007, heat in the 2011) and heard a loud crack. After inspecting the dashboard, there is a large crack on the drivers side above the steering wheel. Since then, it has expanded to the passenger side by the airbag. The dash wobbles where it is cracked when driving and makes some noise. If we were in a wreck, i am concerned that the plastic would crack when the airbag deploys and send shrapnel through the car.

Dashboard severely cracked around airbag and cluster, and may cause malfunctioning of air-bag.also,there are countless complaints reported for same problem, dashboard cracks, in internet and mostof them worried about the safety and high cost replacement.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc yukon denali xl. While driving approximately 40 mph, the dashboard started to shake violently. The contact observed that there was a huge crack on the dashboard near the front passenger side air bag and the driver side behind the steering wheel. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the dashboard was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

"takata recall" cracks on the front dashboard on the right and left.could cause safety issues when airbags deploy.

My dashbord is cracking.getting worse.gmc needs to deal with this problem. I2 people that i work with also have gm trucks/suv and they are also cracking in the same area. Make these companies step up and take care of this issue please.

The vehicle was stationary overnight when this cracking occurred both times.

My 2011 gmc yukon xl denali, dashboard has cracked out of nowhere i got in it one day and it was there i noticed it, up the driver side hump on the dashboard, and beside the passenger airbag, this is a safety hazard what if i get into a wreck pieces of dashboard would go flying everywhere, i have even contacted gmc about this issue and they don't care, i have attempted to glue the dash back together but it's still spreading, the more i drive the vehicle the more it spreads.

Both the driver side and front passenger side exterior door handles separated from the door panel, compromising the protection of the vehicle and the ability to enter and exit the vehicle properly.

Multiple cracks on the dashboard.first, by the passenger airbag, and then on the driver's side, above the gauge cluster.

Dashboard has cracked in several places from above the drive side instrument panel and surrounding the air bag location.concerned that in an air bag deployment, pieces of the dash may be projected throughout the interior causing injury.

2011 yukon xl (garaged it's entire life and well cared for) had crack in dash appear in jan 2016 which quickly spread from back to front causing the dash to become two pieces.dealer only offered to "discount" a repair since out of warranty.

Cracked dash - in the event of airbag deployment, broken pieces of the plastic dash will become projectiles in the passenger area.

My dashboard began to crack around the passenger airbag.the cracking was unprovoked.the car is clean, and only has 66k miles on it.in addition, one of the clips recepticals on the dashboard that the upper trim panel connects to broke (in the center part of the dashboard).no in addition to the large crack, the dash board now rattles.i do not have pictures handy during the time of this submitter but i can provide them. 100's of other have also had this problem, there are facebook pages and various pertitions.

Dashboard cracked top left of passenger side airbag and on right side of hump over steering wheel. I took to dealership, they said no recall,i called gmc and told them it was a serious safety issue as its seems like the dashboard is going to fall into the steering column and even make the air bag not function properly.they said i am outside of warranty (and said they have had tons of problems with this issue) .vehicle is well maintained and only 53k miles.

The dash started to crack - i checked with gm (service) - and they said that this is a common problem - i spoke to gm and they will not acknowledge the issue (even though their service department know that there is an issue). Gm will not support me on this problem

Power liftgate won't open, unlock or lock. Actuator has been changed along with both struts. Could it be the power lift gate module?

The contact owns a 2011 gmc yukon denali xl. The contact stated that the rear hatch came down with force without warning. The latch button was applied, but failed to prevent the hatch from coming down. The vehicle was not diagnosed by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

All 3 of my gm vehicles have cracks in the dashes.all three in the same location of the upper right panel and then in other places.

Cracked dashboard. The dashboard cracked in two places. The car was unoccupied and parked.

My 4 year old car started with a small crack in the dash and is not extending and there are several cracks over instrument panel. After finding this is a common problem contacted gm who gave me a token 10% discount on the 1200$ quote.

Dashboard cracking around airbag and we also have a recall regarding the airbag but no remedy

My 2011 gmc yukon xl denali has been garage kept since it was new. Cracks have developed on the dashboard, and according to multiple sources, is the result of a manufacturer defect. I am concerned that the cracks may be more than just an unsightly cosmetic issue and may prove problematic if the vehicle were to be involved in an accident. The cracks occurred when the vehicle was stationary, inside the garage. I have reached out to gm on multiple occasions and avenues. Each time, i am either ignored or told that there is nothing they can do about it because the vehicle is out from under warranty. I took the vehicle to a gm dealer and was quoted a price of $1,000 to remedy the issue. Between the dash board cracks and the takata inflator recall, for which a solution has yet to be issued, i am gravely concerned about the safety and integrity of this vehicle.

Takata recall - product not available.dashboard cracking in multiple places around airbag with normal use and sun shade used.gmc refuses to repar.

I got into the car to crank it and heard a loud "pop" and saw a crack above the instrument panel. I have contacted gmc and they are not willing to help out with this. I am concerned how this will affect the airbag deployment especially with the recall notice that i received in the mail from gmc stating that my front airbagsare defective and are already at risk of puncturing if the propellant degrades to a certain level during deployment due to the air bags degrading over time and being exposed to heat and humidity. Factor that in with a cracked dash with sharp edges and that equals a deadly combo! this is clearly a manufacturer defect in the design of this dash. I was only offered an estimate for repair out of my pocket that was outrageous!! please help.

The dashboard in from of the driver's side has developed a large crack in it.the crack starts at the seam and goes almost to the front of the dashboard.it is about 9 - 10 inches long. The dashboard has also become separated where the front and back part come together in the middle.i have read where this is a common problem and could be considered a hazard in the event of an accident and the air bags deploying causing the dashboard to break apart and send sharp pieces of the dash flying through the interior.i have read where these cracks are very common on 2007 - 2013 gm trucks and suvs.it is considered to be a manufacturing deflect as it has happened to thousands of vehicles.i was quoted 1,600.00 to replace this by a dealership. This is unacceptable for a vehicle that i paid in excess of 60k for.you should force gm to recall these vehicles for this problem. A picture of my dash is attached.i am not exactly sure of when it happened as you can't see it when sitting in the drivers seat.i did first notice it late this summer of 2016.with the crack and the separation it does vibrate and rattle when going over bumps. Here is a link to a petition with almost 10 thousand supporters.https://www.change.org/p/recall-2007-2013-vehicles-due-to-the-safety-of-cracked-dashes.

My concern is whether the airbag will deploy and not get ripped by the sharp edge of the plastic dashboard. The dealer wants $1000. To replace the dash that simply cracked from the texas heat. Any studies on this? this just cracked while sitting parked. The date of april 1, 2016 is an estimate.
