My key was in the ignition and then the power went of and i drove into a terr it affected the drivers side of the truck. I have replaced the key once already and now it need to be replaced again, im not going to fix it im going to sell it get a toyota.
The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali xl. While driving at various speeds, the speedometer gave incorrect readings. The contact stated that all the gauges on the instrument panel were no longer functional. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the contact would be responsible for repair costs. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000 and the current mileage was 160,000.
I have a 2004 yukon denali and the dash board has gone out.i see that this is a common issue with these vehicles. I have 82,000 miles on it.it is going to cost me $500 to get this fixed.i wish gmc would realize that this is a major problem and should refund people with this problem.it has also made me think again about buying another gmc again!!!
The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali xl. The contact stated that when the accelerator pedal was depressed during acceleration, the vehicle hesitated and the traction active warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air filter failed and needed to be replaced, the bg fuel induction serviced needed to be done, the front brake pads and rotors failed and needed to be replaced, and the rear differential service needed to be done. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
Tachometer gauge no longer functions, wrong speed reading on speedometer and oil pressure gauge reading too much pressure. Fuel gauge reading add fuel when i know it has more than "low". Funny how speedometer was pegged out when i was only going 60.
2004 gmc yukon xl denali - speedometer does not register the correct speed.
While driving multiple times on the interstate doing 75 mph. The speedometer just goes down to 25 or 30 mph for a little while. Then to zero and stays there. I have to shut engine off to reset speedometer, then it works for another couple hundred miles. This has to be unsafe. I have 95000 miles now.
The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali xl.the contact stated that the abs engages at inappropriate times.in addition, the speedometer displays inaccurate readings.when the vehicle is stopped, the speedometer dial displays 50 or 90 mph.the dealer stated that there were no recalls for this failure and the contact would have to pay for the repairs.the failure mileage was 57,600.
The contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon denali xl.when the contact started the vehicle, the tire service monitor indicator illuminated.there was no failure.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that they were unaware of how to repair the failure.the vehicle has not been repaired.the manufacturer could also not assist.the failure mileage was 10 and current mileage was 53,000.
Vehicle started fine, then as i was driving in neighborhood engine shut off and i lost all power, could not turn car without steering and crashed into curb up the street, car would not start, had aaa come tow to our home.had a new battery, and would only take a charge when bypassing battery directly into engine. Now something is draining battery and if i don't start and run every two days , battery dead.electrical cluster also going bad and instruments not working, air conditioning electrical problem , will blow cold out of all but two vents, where it blows 90 degrees.back window wiper stopped working, all electrical related.dealer said no error codes test drove for a week to get to reproduce stall driving, returned to me saying can't diagnose.so frustrating and dangerous.
Speedometer failed. Unsafe situation.speedometer is currently registering erroneous readings. Gm has issued a service bulletin on this problem and is replacing speedometers in vehicles with under 70,000 miles. My 2004 gmc has 88,000 miles and is not covered by their current campaign. Speedometer indicates 60mph while in park.
Stability control disabled comes on with engine power reduced. This happened as i as driving in the highway. Speed drastically reduced form 65 to 10 mph. I could have been killed. Gm is aware of this problem and will not act until there's a fatality because of this issue. I am afraid to drive this vehicle. Nhtsa has received numerous complaints regarding this issue and has not acted. The electrical system is not correct -this is very dangerous
The instrument cluster is faulty do to battery drain. This problem persists with a majority of trucks and suv's of the same generation as my 2004 gmc yukon denali xl. The cost from the dealer to replace this part is approximately $2000. There are aftermarket instrument cluster to replace this part at a cost of all most $600. This requires programming by the dealer for a cost of another $500+only to have the same issue repeat it self at later date.
The instrument panel gauges will just go to zero as you're driving down the road. They may come back on in a few minutes or after you shut down the vehicle. All fuses are good. All indicator lights work i.e. Turn signals, high beam, & haz.during restart they flash as they would normally but the gauges may or may not come back on line. An intermittent problem. I own a 2004 gmc yukon xl denali and the instrument cluster as they call is broken. Gmc know of this and it effect thousand of vehicle that they make. Including envoy, tahoe, yukon, and denali. The problem is that i don't know how fast i'm going, if my tank is full or empty or temperature or my engine/transmission. I almost became a victim, my cluster recently became broken after an almost fatal accident. I was driving to work on the highway and my vehicle cut off with me next to a big rig. I'm trying to control a big suburban and without power for my power steering the vehicle was a [xxx] to steer. The problem was that when i left the house my fuel said 3/4 and 15 miles later i'm on the side of the road wondering why my truck wont start. Come to find out, i ran out of gas with mt gauge still on 3/4. Now my speed is erratic and i have no clue how fast i am going if it were not for my gps unit. Anyway i called them and they said its a warranty issue and if i'm over 80,000 mile they cant help. [xxx] the warranty this is a law suit waiting to be filed. All its going to take is a poor soul that has the same problem and find them self 6ft under. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
2004 gmc yukon denali xl started having problems with the tachometer not working followed by the oil pressure gauge fluctuating from low to high and then staying pegged at high. The voltage meter is reading high even though while it was reading high the mechanic checked it and his gauge said it was fine.we hear a clicking in the dashboard the dealership said they checked it but it is still happening.we are on our 3rd ride leveling compressor and we don't use it to hall a trailer. What will be next.we are concerned since the speedometer and gas gauge could be next.
Instrument cluster.
While driving on the highway i noticed my speedometer reading erratic speeds (i.e. 110 mph while driving 80 mph) i thought it would go back to 0 mph when i stopped but it didn't. Instead it went passed 120 mph and has been there ever since. This is a big problem because you don't know how fast you are going. After researching online how to fix the problem i noticed hundreds of complaints about the same problem with the same vehicle. I have a gps that tells me how fast i'm going so i can still drive it but something needs to be done before someone gets hurt or freaks out behind the wheel.
Speedometer issues, failure, improper readings, dealership won't repair as replacement was only covered if under 70,000 and parts only under 80,000. I have 90,000 on it now. I have owned the vehicle since it was brand new. I received no letters or recalls indicating a need to replace the cluster.
I have a 2004 yukon denali xl, i am having issues with the speedometer being erratic. I will be driving with traffic in a 35 mph zone look at my speedo it says i'm doing 110 mph. I will schedule to have it looked at and then it will work fine for the next 3-6 months then it will screw up again for a couple of days. This is very troublesome as i really never am sure at what speed i am going and my dealer says there is no recall on this item even though i have seen hundreds if not more complaints exactly like mine on the internet so this is not an isolated situation. What can be done?????
Was parked on a hill, when pulling away the brake pedal went to the floor but provided almost no breaking power.a few moments later, multiple beeps occurred with messages appearing on dash display (after the failure), about brake system needs checked or serviced, and stability system disabled.to catch the leaking fluid, i placed the pan under the driver's seat area.lines looked totally rusted.
I get this (comfort ride control) when i turn the key off and back on it there again. When i start it up.
My key was in the ignition and then the power went of and i drove into a terr it affected the drivers side of the truck. I have replaced the key once already and now it need to be replaced again, im not going to fix it im going to sell it get a toyota.
Excessive rust build up on brake lines, rotors and calipers.rotors & pads previously replaced in sept., 2008.needed replacement again in oct., 2012 after only driving 16,000 miles.brake lines are severely corroded and are in need of replacement.control arm linkage attached to height sensor actuator also broke at about the same time.

Hello over the last two weeks, my truck has had the following intermittent message flash across the dash "reduced engine power" and "stability system disabled", and the truck is limited to 25mph.. This has happened numerous times in traffic, forcing my wife, or myself to have to turn on the hazard lights and pull off the freeway as quickly as possible.after sitting for 5-10 minutes the lights will go off, and the engine will be fine.the described scenario just occurred again today for the 3rd time in one day,, so things appear to degrading rapidly, and i will need to have the system reviewed at the local dealership.i am very concerned as i have found a thread with numerous related concerns at edmunds, com (http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/5759/gmc/yukon-denali/gmc-yukon-reduced-engine-power-message), and it does not appear that their is a valid recall for my vin.i am not clear what may become of this complaint, but i am very concerned that my wife may be in a very dangerous situation if the engines keeps reducing power while driving on the freeway. Thank you for your time.

While driving on highway or within city, the truck displays a warning "stability system disabled, reduced engine power".the truck while in motion lowers power and becomes a safety hazard, unable to drive with the flow of traffic. Forced to pull over and in one instance the truck completely shut down while driving due to the aforementioned warning. To date the throttle body has been replaced however the condition returned 1 week later, under normal driving conditions.at this time a solution to the condition has not presented itself and the truck is quite dangerous as it may shut down or reduce its engine powerdue to this defect that gm is unable to identify.
The hoses for the rear heating and air condition is leaking and i called the company and they have discontinued also the cluster has completely stop working.

Fuel gauge is erratic, most often showing the tank empty when up to half full.

Due to corroded brake lines, my brakes failed, causing a crash.
A vehicle in front of me stopped short because a car was making a left turn in front of him.i applied the brakes. I was able to stop but immediately there was a white smoke coming from under the hood and the traction control and brake lights came on.i went to drive a few feet and tried to stop when i realized i had no brakes at all and the white smoke was still coming out. My vehicle was towed to a shop. The brakes line failed because of corrosion.the brake fluid was spraying onto the exhaust manifold creating the white smoke.

Steel brake lines have rusted through, causing leakage andtotal brake failure during application.calipers and bleeder valves also rusted, preventing new brake lines from being re-attached.

The brake light came on in my car and when i took it in to the mechanic, i was told the brake lines were corroded. Brake fluid was leaking through the lines and if i had driven for even another hour, i would have had no brakes. I had the lines replaced, which had to be custom built. The repair cost me $1188.
Without warning the brakes failed.vehicle was in motion at time of failure, vehicle could not be stopped and at 30 mph ran through the red traffic light at a busy city intersection.fortunately, no accident occurred.vehicle had to be towed to dealership.dealer repaired vehicle.invoice stated:"brake line wore through from steering column rubbing on flexible section."
I had been driving on the expressway, i exited and stoped at a drive up window.as i pulled up to the window my brake peddle went to the floor, i had to put it in neutral and use the emergency brake to get the car to stop.after inspection i found that a line within the cluster of four had failed under the drivers side front door.all the lines needed to be replaced due to severe rust.
Had just backed our bay boat into it's spot after hauling it on i95,the blue route and pa turnpike .when i released the emergency brake to pull away from the boat, the service brake light appeared, and immediately lost most of my braking power .i found that one of the brake lines had ruptured .if this had happened on the highway ,towing the boat,it would have been catastrophic. I didn't realize how common a problem this has been until i found untold numbers of other owners on the web with the same issue.
Driving at 35 mph when the brakes suddenly stopped working with no indication preceding incident. Vehicle made contact with curb before coming to a complete stop. Discovered rear brake lines had completely corroded through and vehicle was losing fluid. Apparently this is a known problem that gm refuses to fix.
The brake tubing mounted along the frame towards the abs and away from the abs are very rusted flaking etc.they have not busted jet but could any moment, i'm having them changed.as many people had busted tubing for me it is a safety issue, i'm an mechanical engineer and i understand the defect.
Hard brake lines on frame under drivers door rusted through causing brake failure.while driving stepped on brakes and brake pedal went all the way down to the floor and vehicle would not stop. Noticed brake fluid leaking from under drivers door and saw that the hard brake lines on the frame were rusted threw. I hadlots of older vehicles and never had the hard brake lines rusted threw especially in a 9 year old vehicle.could have been very serious accident if it had happened on a highway.
While operating the vehicle on a highway i pressed the brake pedal and suddenly the brake pedal sunk and i lost brakes. I nearly lost control of the vehicle and almost drove into a guard rail. After further inspection i observe the front drivers side brake was corroded causing it to break. This appears to be an issue with gmc and the company should be required to rectify the situation. Using stainless would prevent incidents like these and possible injuries or deaths.
Brake line failure due to corrosion.
As i was driving home from work late this afternoon on july 05, 2011 on rt 589 in pasco county fl, i was coming off the exit to a red light and i could not stop. I had to push the brake pedal to the floor and hold it there in order to stop just short of the intersection. Luckily there were no cars in the right lane going through the intersection at the same time.i pulled over after the light turned green and noticed fluid squirting out above the passenger rear tire area. After i made it home i pulled the tire off and looked around and notice two heavily corroded lines where the fluid was coming out.
Complete brake failure due to brake line corrosion, sudden onset, driver side to rear brake.had previous episode front passenger line 3 mos prior.will be replacing all lines at personal cost w stainless tubing, pending recall. Very dangerous.
The contact owns a 2004 yukon denali xl. The contact stated that fluid was leaking from the hydraulic brake booster and the release valve. The vehicle also emitted a loud noise when it was started. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, who inspected the brakes and informed the contact that the hydraulic brake booster and the release valve needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified and stated that there was a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 05v043000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 189,000.. Updated 05/17/12 updated 05/23/12.

This has occurred several times since the initial occurrence.at various speeds (5-55 mph) the steering goes out and you cannot move the steering wheel.our vehicle has been in the shop multiple times over the years to correct this. The mechanics cannot find anything wrong, and since this is not a continuous problem, they are unable to experience it. It's a frightening experience when you are on the beltway and need to take an exit, or follow the beltway bearing right or left and you have no control of your steering.more frightening is when you have your children in the vehicle.i've had one minor incident/accident while backing up to park my truck at a campground.i did not have my foot on the gas and was drifting. There was a tree behind me, which i needed to park next to, and the steering went out and my left bumper edge caught the tree, which pushed the bumper in slightly.this caused the rubber track on the top of the bumper to pop up and it cannot be reattached.additionally there are nasty scratches on the bumpers edge.
Since 40-45k miles my gmc yukon 1500 xl has had a terrible slack in the steering.as i'm driving on the highway, gust of wind shifts the vehicle half a lane to the other side.there's been times i almost hit the car in the other lane.everytime i took the car in for a check, the dealership was less than motivated to even check the problem.
