Takata airbagthe airbag light has come on and i see a previous recall but now none that apply to my vehicle. Can you advise if this is something that falls under the prior recall?

The seat belt alarm was going off in the front passenger so brought to dealership and was told the airbag sensor went bad and needed to be replaced. Quoted $900 to repair and not covered under warranty. If the seat belt was bad, that would be covered but not the airbag? i feel this is a safety recall and should be covered. If the airbag did not deploy in an accident, that would be a lawsuit.

The contact owned a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving 55 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle that had abruptly stopped. The air bags did not deploy. In addition, the safety feature to stop the vehicle from a collision failed to engage. A police report was filed. The contact suffered back pain and was scheduled to receive medical attention. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and deemed destroyed. John miles chevrolet buick gmc in conyers, georgia was made aware of the crash. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and provided the contact with case number: 83433332913. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

The air bag service lights came on 10/2019 while in motion. I notice a recall for this vehicle on the nhtsa website yet the local gm dealer where i live says that there isn't one for my vehicle according to the vin.

In the early morning of 9-5-15 my daughter began driving home from pittsburgh to de. She swerved to avoid an animal on the pa turnpike, hit the jersey wall on the right, rolled over completely twice to the left, landing upright in the median.luckily the seat belt saved her and she had only minor injuries.however the side air bags did not deploy.in fact onstar called 911 because their monitoring equipment showed that the air bags had deployed, but they did not.the vehicle was declared a total loss.there is no recall on this vehicle for airbag problem though i've heard that there should be so i wanted to report this.

On the morning of 1/12/18 @ 0812 i was in a front end collision, so far the body shop says most likely it is totaled. Onstar did not go off, also the airbags did not deploy. Attached is pictures of my car on the wrecker right after the accident. I had stopped at a stop sign, and b/c of the giant blind spot that is not on any reviews etc. For this vehicle i did not see the minivan that was headed west bound and i was headed north bound. The accident occured on se 5th and lelia st. In guymon oklahoma. Also a picture is attached of one of the injuries i sustained because of the airbags not deploying and also had a head injury after going to the er.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly crashed into second vehicle causing severe front end damage. During the crash the air bags did not deploy although the instrumental panel message had indicated that the air bags had deployed. The driver sustained a bruised chest which did not require medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,000.

I purchased my 2015 terrain june 30 2020. Ever since i bought it i keep getting a warning on my dash board for service airbags.. It will come on as soon as i turn the car on.. It doesn't happen every time but at least once a week if not more. I took a picture of the warning and called the car, dealership wwhere i bought it told me to contact gm that this was a safety issue with the airbag alert coming on.

In 2 days, the vehicle has stalled on me. I was in the parking lot and another car almost hit me since the car slowed down and the steering wheel got hard then shut off. Today, i almost got hit again after stopping at a stop sign going into a turn i almost hit someone and a car almost hit me.

Power lift gate will not open. The lift gate was working but would not stay in the up position. I had to replace the lift gate support strut. After replacing the right strut the gate would not open using the key fob, or thebotton inside of vehicle, nor will it lift when using the botton on the gate.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. The contact stated that the radio and back-up camera did not work. The vehicle was taken to green buick gmc (563-484-5147, located at 3210 e kimberly rd, davenport, ia 52807) where it was diagnosed that the radio unit needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the unit was on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The contact was also informed that the vehicle was out of warranty and there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

Vehicle randomly says service stabilitrack and traction control. Service engine light, traction control light come on. Rpm guage, speedometer, digital speedometer, temp gauge all will bounce and go to 0. Vehicle struggles to accelerate while this is happening. When it kicks back in vehicle jolts. I cannot replicate it, does this randomly. Has been to the dealer multiple times and they cannot replicate the problem or diagnose it. Always happens while driving

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving 20 mph at night, the low beam headlights did not fully illuminate. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it could not be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,500....updated 02/03/16 updated 03/09/16.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. The contact stated that her vehicle was consuming oil excessively which led to three separate engine failures. The contact also stated that the check oil light would illuminate on the instrument panel prior to the failure. An independent mechanic had replaced the engine all three times due to the oil consumption. Prior to the latest failure, the contact mentioned that while driving at various speeds, the power steering assists failed as the power steering failure warning message was displayed on the instrument panel. The independent mechanic informed her that the power steering had received too much electricity which would cause both the power steering and the wheels to lock up. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

1. While driving, the collision alert will randomly go off and decelerate the vehicle, even if there are no other vehicles around. This has been happening periodically for the last couple years, but is getting worse and more frequent. It feels like it shifts to neutral and engages the brakes. This has almost caused us to be hit by cars behind us on the interstate.2. For the last few years there is absolutely no way to tell the milage on the car is. That sensor went out and the gmc mechanic that i had fixing a different issue with the car stalling randomly (which i now discover is a very common occurrence with this vehicle, but not covered by warranty as it happens a few thousand miles after full warranty expires-this was 2017) that this is a common issue with terrains and was not covered under warranty (shocker). And i'm not willing to but the hundreds of dollars necessary to fix the problem.

On star not working red light on compass dose not work.

I own a 2015 gmc terrain. The radio and all other functions related to the touch screen have failed resulting in a black screen. This includes the back up camera.this has also contributed to a minor accident where i back into a utility pole. Gm states a new radio is necessary at a cost of $1287. This is unacceptable for a vital part of the vehicles operation. What will it take for gm to address this issue? someone backing over a child in a driveway?

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to vandevere chevrolet (located at 1490 vernon odom blvd, akron, oh 44320, (330) 800-0230) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred on several occasions. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Intellilink system, entertainment center, back up camera, usb charging .entire system failure.battery drains when parked for more than 2 days.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving 30 mph, the low beam headlights failed to fully illuminate. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 300.

Radio stopped functioning on august 26th.there was no volume, i could not change the stations by steering wheel or touch.the bluetooth would not work.the dash lights would not turn off and remained on the entire evening.i called gmc support and they said to unplug the battery, but i did not do so as i didnt want to mess anything up.i took the car in to the dealership the following day.i was told they see this issue often and by unplugging and resetting the battery, it will fix the issue.problem resolved. Radio stopped functioning again on september 2nd.same issues as above.took the car in and was told this time that it has something to do with onstar and they are working on a fix.until they have a permanent solution, i was told if the issue happens again to press the white button on my rearview mirror.problem resolved. Radio stopped functioning again on september 3rd.pressed the white button on the rearview mirror for over 20 minutes before the radio starting functioning properly again.problem resolved. I called gmc to file a complaint on september 12 because the dealership general manager had not responded to me.gmc called the dealership and confirmed the issue was indeed related to the onstar component and that there is no fix.gmc said that it was probably not safe to drive the vehicle if the dash lights staying on are draining the battery.they went as far as saying they could get me a loaner car until my issue is fixed, but there is no eta.with gmc saying it's not safe to drive with that issue, i'm now not sure what to do with it.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. The contact stated that the vehicle started on its own and would not turn off until the key was placed in the ignition. The contact stated that the vehicle recently self-started while parked in the garage. The dealer and the manufacturer had not been contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 48,000.

My screen went totally black, i have no radio no back up cameras. Took it to dealer and they thought it was screen. The replaced the screen and the radio still want come on nor the back up camera. The dealership said it is the radio and they are going to charge me $2000.00 to fix it. My car is a 2015 gmc terrain denali with 43,000 miles on it. It has to be a factory defect for it to happen. My car has never had to have anything done to it except oil changes. Please help me i can't afford this kind of money. When i started it one morning that's when the screen was black with no radio or back up cameras.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving at normal speeds, the headlights lost power. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 126,000.

Third time while driving on city streets the car begins to shake and stall.i pull over or stay in place as the car proceeds to turn off.the service stability traction and engine lights light up and the car dies.each time i am able to turn the car back on within a few minutes.

Vehicle was being driven on rural state highway containing hills and curves to get serviced for low tires. About 20 minutes into drive the seat heater was turned on. About 5 minutes later the radio, speedometer, tachometer, fuel, temperature gauges and turn signals quit working. A tool symbol showed up on the options screen. During the rest of the drive the radio would come on intermittently. At the service center a code scanner showed no codes. The vehicle battery (new) was checked and cables were checked for loose connections and corrosion. The issue continued throughout the service. After service the vehicle was parked for several hours. At startup for the return drive the issue had self corrected and did not return.

Started march of 2017 progressively getting worse. Suv jerks, gauges go crazy, check engine light comes on, if slow to below 20 mph it sputters and won't accelerate, if i stop completely it won't accelerate.multiple times this has happened on the interstate during rush hour traffic & at busy intersections. If i turn car off and back on the system resets. Then it starts all over again. It has been in and out of the shop. Probably 10-15 times in 2years. They get codes, but then these go away before they can be 'run'.i broke down 1-1/2 weeks ago in bay minette & the car wouldnt start back up. I was stranded out of town and had to rent a car to get back home. The dealer there got 7 error codes that all cleared out. I have filed a compjaint with gmc, but they are slow to handle the problem & i can't get supervisors on the phone or at least one who doesn't seem like he's been drinking.

Three times when i want to start the car it starts and turn of at the time driving backward to get out of parking space. One of the cases was at the time i wanted to go forward

I purchased my vehicle from a dealer in june 2018, and about a month of purchasing it my vehicle has been hesitating in acceleration, at first i didn't think anything of it, but it started getting worse. Two days ago when i was driving my vehicle in the downtown area (city streets), it was bucking a lot. When i got to my destination and restarted the vehicle, i put it in reverse and proceeded to drive back but the car shuddered and then shut off completely and the malfunction indicator lamp light came on (but it didn't stay on long). Today as i was driving it continued to jerk, especially when i was driving around 20 mph or below (which i had to do because of the school zones). My vehicle shut off again as i began to pull off from dropping my child off at school, which almost caused another parent to crash in the back of me. The only way i could keep the car from shutting off again is by accelerating on the gas above 20 mph.

Engine keeps shutting off while driving; would have to guide the car off the road and restart. Radio shuts off; all electrical systems shut off and car would have to be restarted.this has beenhappening after the car was purchased sporadically since last year.the vehicle was turned in for service on the issue, however i was informed that they found nothing wrong.just this past week till now, the cars engine and electrical system starting shutting down again while driving or while in parking mode at least more than 6 times.

Stabilitrak warning and check engine light came on.gauges went to 0 and then bounced up and down while i was driving.the car refused to accelerate over 40mph. This time i was not on the highway, but this has happened while driving on an interstate as well.i have put in a complaint with general motors and they called back once because i thought the car got bad data when my cc for onstar was compromised.they have not returned my calls since. I have taken it to a certified gm shop 4 times and they still cannot diagnose the issue.i am terrified to drive the vehicle now. This last time, i was able to record the gauges acting crazy and have also sent that to general motors.

Third time while driving on city streets the car begins to shake and stall.i pull over or stay in place as the car proceeds to turn off.the service stability traction and engine lights light up and the car dies.each time i am able to turn the car back on within a few minutes.

I bought this vehicle in nov. 2018.two months later i started having problems with the stabili trak.i have had it in the shop at the gmc dealer twice.all codes passed because the stabili trak light turns off.both rpm and speedometer needles go up and down real fast.sometimes they stay at 0 and i start loosing power.if i'm stopped, it takes forever for it to gain any speed.i turn it off and restart it only for it to start all over again.i turned it off once and tried to reset and completely dead.third time it started.dash lights go from dim to bright and back.the dealer said they cant find the codes if the stabili track light isn't on, yet the check engine light stays on.it is getting worse, almost every day.but the stabili trak light doesn't stay on long enough

Engine reduces power, stabilitrak light comes on and vehicle shuts off.all three times it happens usually during or after highway driving.car has been in service 3 times for the same issue.8/3/16, 8/11/16 and 1/4/17.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. The contact stated while driving at 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced due to a lack of oil in the engine. The contact stated that prior to the failure, 2 quarts of oil had been added to the engine a day earlier. The vehicle was repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I have been having problems with my car sense i have owned it . From day one itstarted with my wheels rubbing and scrubbing when in motion .i called dealershiphad repairs done on it for the first 7 months .i reported the problem back then to you all. Then after 3 yrs i started to feel some hesitation when sitting or taking off .then the forth year my power steering light comes on had that fixed now my engine light keeps coming on car still having some hesitation on and off . I paid to have a diagnostic test done on it by the place that does my oil change and was told that my codes where off and they were reset but 5 days later my engine light is back on ,ironically right after my five years limited warranty is over and my car only have 38,490 miles to this day and it is not yet paid for. This is ridiculous ,i have spent the last 5 plus years of dealing with this new lemon and all i get is another bill add to the 528.02 a month i have to pay already.this car came highly recommended by the sales person and dealershipand all i can see is that these cars are being push on hard working people that just wantsomething reliable and its wrong. This car is frustrating and stressing me out ,i cant rely on it to get me through 5 more years i thought more of the gmc product and i cant take anymore of this trying to make this bad situation better on my own. Gmc needs to do something about these defective cars please.

To whom it may concern, yesterday, 3/22/15, my wife and i were driving while carol took her foot off the gas pedal as we were approaching a stop light. At that time the car started accelerating. Is this a new problem or has it been reported before?who do i contact to investigate this issue and ensure that my vehicle is safe? my daughter bought a 2014 gmc terrain last year and i'm concerned about her vehicle as well.

I have a serious problem with my car the dealership to me my coil ignition has a crack in it and the is a lot carbon buildup. I just bought the car in april of 2019 & i was told by car-fax the car had a 165 point inpection done on it

Leaving my parking spot after going out to eat i went in reverse and the vehicle stalled at about 5mph, turned the car completely off and then turned back on. Put it in drive and just as i started to accelerate it stalled. This happened 10-12 times while i was trying to leave the parking lot. Vehicle stalled while leaving car wash as i was excelleratig our. Vehicle stalled as i was leaving a complete stop from a stop sign on a city street. Something is wrong with the engine stalling while starting to accelerate. 43,000 miles from first occurrence currently at 43,300 still happening on a regular basis.

On 1/10/18, i was on my way to work and received message "engine power reduced", the engine light came on and power was reduced to 25 mph. I brought the terrain into a mechanic and he synchronized the gas pedal sensor and fuel sensor and the engine light went out. On 1/13/18, the same thing happened except i was on a highway and it was much more frightening. I brought the terrain back to my mechanic and left the vehicle. I am now without a car for the weekend.

On december 19, 2020 i made a trip in my 2015 gmc terrain. The temperature was 16 degrees. Upon arriving home, i noticed a large puddle of fresh oil coming from the terrain.i contacted my local mechanic and he advised to bring it to his shop. I added two quarts of oil to the terrain andi drove the vehicle to his garage.he said he would call me after he accessed the situation.later that day, he called and said gm had a recall on 2012, 2013, & 2014 model terrains with this engine but not the 2015.the problem he advised was in cold weather the condensation inthe valve cover froze, causing oil pressure to climb and exit out engine main rear seal.the same place as had happened on my terrain.the gm recall was# 14882.i called gm and sent a lletter to them .i was assigned casei was advised to take my vehicle to burdick chevrole, cicero, ny.upon contacting burdick chevrolet, i was advised by a service manager thatburdick does not rate other mechanics work.he also stated there was no way to remove the engine and take it apart as the correct parts were inside the engine.he stated they would not do that.i then contacted gm and advised the work was all done internal of the engine and it was not able to verify the work.i was then advised there was no way i would be reimbursed for any or all of the $1648 bill because the 2015 year was not on the recall 14882.on wednesday, february 17, 2021 after running errands, upon returning home,i again observed a large oil puddle of oil in my driveway.i called my wife and advised her of the oil puddle.she advised she was at church, approx 4 miles away.i immediately drove there and observed more oil under the terrain.there was no oil registering on the dip stick.i added 3 quarts of oili drove the terrain 3 miles to the mechanics shop again.he installed another rear engine main seal.

I noticed my oil l was leaking severely. I had to add oil between changes even. Ended up having both seals replaced less the 2 months ago. It is still leaking. I have to have my oil changed every 2 weeks and add 2-5 quarts between changes. Just put my 2015 terrain back in the shop at the dealership. They informed me that there is known issues with the piston rings in previous models. Why has there not been a recall issued for this known problem? i just spent almost $3000 2 months ago and am probably looking at that much again to have the issue fixed. It's my daily driver vehicle. I live out in the county so it's a combination or highway and city driving. I do not drive crazy or hard. I routinely take care of all maintenance on the vehicle. There is no reason i should be having this issue.

While pulling into a parking spot very slow the vehicle accelerated and damaged car in front there are traction marks showing the sudden acceleration. The car would not stop until the ignition was turned off. Because the cars in front were hit i placed the car in park after the ignition was turned off.

At roughly 106500 miles our terrain started 'jumping' when stopped at a stop sign. We brought it in and our oils was low even though we are regular in oil changes and check it regularly. After a fresh oil change the dealer said they couldn't tell where it was coming from and to come back in 500 miles to check it again. At 107000 miles we brought it back in as asked. The oil was slightly low but they said they would call after talking to the mechanic to let us know if we should have concern. Shortly after we drove it to work with no sounds or movement issues but after when we started it back up it sounded made lots of noise. The noise was coming from the engine. We had it towed to the dealer and they said there was a good chance it was the timing chain because they had seen it on some other terrains as well. They anticipated just needing to redo the timing chain since we hadn't been moving when it had issues again but the engine has damage as if it's been having issues for a bit and we need a new engine. From what i've gathered there seems to be an ongoing issue with the timing chains stretching/breaking and destroying the engines on this model. I'm surprised that i haven't seen a recall yet. Our bill was going to be 1500 and now we are anticipating 9000 for something that should never have happened. We are just fortunate we weren't driving when it did. Had we been notified of this ongoing issue ahead of time when we first experienced the loss of oil and the jumping we could have caught it in time to fix it.

Burning excessive amounts of oil.

I had a brand new motor put in my car at 73547 miles and now at 124079 i am having the same issues. They told me that they won't pay for it because the 100,000 warranty is up. The new parts that i put in my car will have a warranty, but the new motor that i put in my car went under the old power train warranty. Check engine light came on while driving to dealership to get an oil change and i had it towed right away to fm dealer.

The independent mechanic informed her that the power steering had received too much electricity which would cause both the power steering and the wheels to lock up. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. Also, when depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not exceed more than 20 mph. The contact noticed oil and transmission fluid leaking from the vehicle. The contact stated that she received a letter from the manufacturer regarding the failure. The vehicle was taken to castle buick gmc (located at 7400 w cermak rd, north riverside, il 60546, (708) 442-7474) where it was diagnosed that multiple unknown repairs were needed on the engine and transmission. The vehicle was repaired, but the failures recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 5,412.

The engine light came on after an 3 days after oil change and begin to cut off when i would accelerate. I took it to carmax and they said it was a faulty sensor which was covered by the powertrain warranty. Carmax suggested i take the car to a gmc dealer for repair. I took the car to the gmc dealer, they repaired it and 1 1/2 weeks later the engine light came on and the car was cutting off again. I went to the gmc dealer a second time and they said, "they could not duplicate my concerns, there was no problem with the car, the engine light is not on and the car was driven for 10 minutes without any issues". After driving the car for 5 days, the engine light is on again and the car is stalling. I have to accelerate over 10 - 20 miles for the car to stay on. I know that something is wrong, i have been afraid to drive because with the car cuts off on me and no one has given a reason as to why. I do not want to get hit from behind. I drive the highway with a small child daily. I am concern that this issue is not being taken seriously. Something is wrong with the car!!!

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle hesitated. The contact pulled over to the side of roadway. The contact opened the hood to inspect the vehicle. The contact became aware that there was no oil in the engine. The contact added the necessary amount of oil and the vehicle operated as intended. The contact stated that the failure recurred after driving for approximately 1,000 miles with the oil warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bomnin cadillac located at (1075 se 6th ave #2, homestead, fl 33034) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that several unstated parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. The contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed that the water pump, timing belt, gasket kit, and chain links for the timing belt failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. After being serviced, the vehicle later began to lunge forward and the gears attempted to shift. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission was slipping. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,461.

The car keeps stalling when trying to accelerate in reverse or drive and the check engine light is on. This is problem as i am reading up on this so i believe there is some kind of recall that needs to happen. This is [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Smelt something burning while driving.car started bucking and jerking.i pulled into a parking lot and noticed a puddle of oil leaking out underneath my car.no check engine light or any notification that anything was wrong.had it towed to dealership and they told me pvc froze up and blew out rear main seal. This is the 2nd time this has happened to us this year.we own another gmc (2013 equinox) and the exact same thing happened 2 weeks earlier with it.frustrating that gmc is aware of this defect with their engines and not willing to issue a recall to correct it.we had to pay $2500 to fix the equinox.luckily the terrain is still under factory warranty but with both cars we were out of a vehicle for several days.will it happen again???

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While the contact waschecking the vehicle's oil level in his driveway, the oil pressure shot up from the engine without warning. The contact took the vehicle to lynch gm superstore (2300 browns lake dr, burlington, wi 53105, (262) 763-7500) in may of 2019 where it was diagnosed that the engine gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure was currently recurring. The dealer was not contacted again. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 109,008.

I purchased a2015 gmc terrain from dealer on12/18/2014. At approximately 700 miles, car would not start. Did nothing, no grinding, clicking just would not start. Had lights, radio, fan on heater. Call thornhill and car was towed there, they could not find the issue. Approximately 2 weeks later, another cold spell and car did the same. Was towed to thornhill and was there for several days. Would not start for them either, said they could not find the problem. Fast forward to today and car is still doing the same. When temperature gets to 10 or below, will not start.

While driving in stop and go traffic my car stalled, after restarting it it continued to turn off after acceleration and shuddered when miles to 20 miles an hour.

I have a 2015 terrian sle. Around 57,000 miles my terrian started burning 2+ 2+quarts of oil in between oil changes with no apparent reason, i have always kept the oil changed before it got below 7%, after noticing the oil levels dropping fast i checked it everyday. The engine light came on with my last oil change, 2 weeks ago, showing 2 bad cam sensors p0010 and p0011. I went to my mechanic only to find out that the 2.4 motors have been littered with oil leaks, timing chain problems, cam sensor issue and stalling. I paid good money for this car and i am not pleased with the continuing motor problems from gmc. If the same problem that occurred on early models is still happening, why is there not recall? i am frustrated as i have only one vehicle and the out of pocket cost is ridiculous, especially when i'm being told it's cheaper to buy a new crate motor than fix what is wrong. I have always been a fan of gmc until this. It's no wonder why everyone has switched to foreign vehicles, the ones made in the us are so cheaply made and priced 3 times there value.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. The contact stated while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle started to decelerate with no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that he saw black smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle as he was pulling over to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as a broken part in the engine and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the local dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.

The manifold and the catalytic converter is cracked and emitting hazardous carbon monoxide inside the cabin of the car.for close to 2 months my husband has been driving the car like this and we have taken it to 2 mechanics and finally found the cracks. My husband has been getting sick from the carbon monoxide. It is a blessing he is still alive. According to online google searches this is a well known issue in this vehicle. The smell is strong especially when he uses the remote starter and when the car is in motion and stationary.

Check engine light came on, took vehicle to the dealership the same day. Was told the timing chain needed to be replaced because it was stretched. I've had the same driving habits (distance, destinations, etc) for all 4.5 years that i've had the terrain. I've had all but 2 oil changes completed at the dealership where i purchased my car originally. I've consistently had my oil changed every time my light comes on and says it needs to be done. I had my oil changed 5 days ago, on schedule and today my engine light comes on and i'm quoted at minimum $2k for a timing chain repair. I called another gmc dealership to get a quote on the work and was told more than $3000 would be expected. Every mechanic i've talked with (at each dealership) suggested this is a known issue with gmc terrains, equinox's, traverse's.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving 40 mph, the low beam headlights failed to fully illuminate. The failure occurred during night driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be inspected. The contact was informed that the headlights could not be adjusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50.

Head lights on low beam are set to the right and can not be modified or corrected by the dealer. During rainy/overcast nights it is impossible to see clearly to the front and to the left of the vehicle. At dusk, even though headlight indicator is on, it appears the headlights are off. On moonless nights, it is extremely difficult to see the road clearly. If a fix isn't provided someone will be killed.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds at night, half of the windshield was black when the low beam headlights were engaged. The contact could only see 30 feet ahead when the headlights were engaged. Jeff drennen chevrolet buick gmc cadillac in zanesville, ohio was made aware of the failure and adjusted the headlights, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 25,000. .updated 8/16/18

Sept. 30, 2015 we bought a 2015 gmc terrain from buick gmc of mahwah (nj).there was 88 miles on the odometer. At night (in darkness) visibility is only accessible thru the bottom section of the windshield.there is a dark horizontal line across the windshield at approximately the half way point. It is black above the line-no visibility to the outside above the line. You can not see a safe distance down the road as visibility is restricted.telephone poles, trees, objects, side roads, deer, obstacles, signs etc are not visible thru the windshield's top half.we drove it the first time at night oct. 8. I was the driver, my husband passenger. Our seats were at different positions. Neither my husband nor i could see out of the top half of the windshield. The route traveled consisted of unlighted parkway and side road driving. On dark, non illuminated roads with no lights from other vehicles and street lights, we were not able to see anything above the horizontal line across the windshield. With low beams visibility was approximately 25-30 feet forward. There was no visible orientation above the horizontal line. It was black.high beams allowed a longer visual field but still no visibility above the line of the windshield creating a 'tunnel vision' effect.traveling up or down hill was particularly scary. Visibility was restricted to directly in front of the car.the 25 mile drive was frightening. There was no visibility problem during daytime driving or on highly illuminated roads at night.oct. 9, 2015 (9 days of having the car) with 220 miles on the odometer, we returned it to the dealer without resolution.gm responded all terrains are manufactured as ours andcould find no problem as described.the car is unsafe and a hazard to us as well as others.we do not want to become a gm statistic.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving at normal speeds, the headlights lost power. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 126,000.

I have a serious problem with my car the dealership to me my coil ignition has a crack in it and the is a lot carbon buildup. I just bought the car in april of 2019 & i was told by car-fax the car had a 165 point inpection done on it

I have had my terrain for a little over two years nowit only has 71,000 miles being a 2015and it has started to stall out on me. The first time it happened i just got gas and thought maybe i didnt have my car in park. Not even two weeks later it happened as i was parked at the grocery store and went to take off, it just stalled on me! it's happening more frequentlyand even just turned off on me as i was driving down the road. My check engine light is not on, we have even placed lucas in it to see if that would work.

While switching lanes in traffic ( around 15 mph), the vehicle shut off (including radio gauges and engine). Put on hazards, switched from drive to park, and restarted the car.

After coming to a stop and trying to move forward the vehicle stalled this happen several times and would also stalled when in reverse. There is only 47000 miles on the vehicle and is driven both highway and city. Vehicle would only stalled after coming to a stop or driving under 5 mph. The check engine light is on and stays on for a few days then goes away. This has been happening since nov 22, 2018.

My vehicle is under 60k miles and one day i woke up went to drive it my engine light came on and my vehicle started to sputter and try to die out while driving in a school zone going 20 mph. Then after making it to my destination i placed the vehicle in reverse and it died out on me. I started it right back up it died as soon as it hit reverse again. Finally i was able to start it and coast backwards then place it in drive. I had recently gotten gas and thought maybe something was wrong with the gas but im seeing this is a problem for more people than just me. So disappointing bc it is a lease and my lease is up in one month so now im held liable to fix a problem that i feel like should be a recall. I've always stayed up on my oil changes, and maintenance and im very disappointed in the quality of this vehicle.

My vehicle began to sputter and stalled as i decelerated and approached an intersection without any warning.i stopped and restarted the car and the engine light came on.i was within a mile of dealership, called them and took it in.they estimate $1,200 for repair.i searched known issues with this make and model and i am not alone with this problem.i am concerned that this may happen again which could be very dangerous. I do not see any recalls but there are numerous issues stating this same issue on a simple search of none issues for this suv.

While driving in stop and go traffic my car stalled, after restarting it it continued to turn off after acceleration and shuddered when miles to 20 miles an hour.

I'm a single mother and my car have been nothing but trouble when i'm drivingmy windshield wipers stop working three times i had to fix them my tires always need air so every week i need more air and the tires in the back goes out the fastest why is this happening its not good for my family please help

I've attached my final repair notice to gm and it has all of the details. I have since taken my car back to the dealership to have the final repair done. They still say nothing is wrong with it. I am terrified to drive my car. I asked gm to take the car back and they say they are not willing to do anything at all to help me. The transmission is jerky and the brakes barely work. Please investigate. Its like gm would like to wait until there is a huge accident and loss of life before doing anything.

Vehicle purchase from coulter cadillac tempe az - 9/1/2018.this problem has occured 3 times.dealer acknowledges "we put you in a bad car".problem: vehicle while in motion (street/intersection/highway), will just "shut down" and move in "limp mode" fashion. The engine and stability lights will appear on the dashboard and on the most recent event, all the gauges on the dashboard shut down.after the shut down,1 & 2 gears are no longer available. In order to move the vehicle, the vehicle needs to reach a speed between 20 / 30 miles an hour in order for the 3rd gear to engage.the last time this situation happened was on the freeway @ 65 mph.i was in the hov lane with my 3.5 year old grandson and my wife.all the traffic @ 4:45 pm on the northbound lane of the az 17 highway came to a stop because of the rippling effect this problem caused. Fortunate for us, other drivers allowed to us traverse to the off ramp.the dealer indicated the problem was the battery that brought the car to a stop and "limp mode".there were no battery warning lights visible on the dashboard telling me the battery was in danger of failing as noted in the owner's manual.all 3 times this has happened, the dealer has provided 3 different solutions for the same problem.i have seen on this web site no less than 15 complaints raising this problem to the nhtsa attention.someone is going to get hurt because of this problem coulter/gmc and the nhtsa need to take action to remove/resolve this problem.see attached exhibit t / u / o.

Transfer case failed while driving, only 50,000 miles on vechicle

2015 gmc terrain.consumer writes in regards to sudden loss of engine power, accelerator pedal and throttle failures.the consumer stated when she tried to accelerate, the vehicle barely moved. The consumer turned off the vehicle and re-started it, with the same results. The engine would just idle as if the acceleratorpedal was disconnected.

Leaving my parking spot after going out to eat i went in reverse and the vehicle stalled at about 5mph, turned the car completely off and then turned back on.

Third time while driving on city streets the car begins to shake and stall.i pull over or stay in place as the car proceeds to turn off.the service stability traction and engine lights light up and the car dies.each time i am able to turn the car back on within a few minutes.

The front passenger seat belt chime comes on even when there is nothing or almost nothing in the seat.this mostly happens when the ambient temperature is above 45 degrees fahrenheit and either during a braking event or acceleration event (either from a stop or during an overtake menuver).it also occurs when the vehicle speed goes above 60mph.in all these situations the chime comes on at most in-opportune times while the vehicle is in motion startling the driver causing him/her to take the eyes off the road to look around what is going on with the vehicle.this issue has resulted in multiplenear miss occurrances while i have my 15 month old baby in the vehicle!the issue started occurring in august 2015 (about 4.5 months after i got the vehicle).the dealer says that this is a known problem with these vehicles and that nothing can be done to fix this.i have seen multiple posts on the internet about this issue with chevy equinox and gmc terrain.

Front passenger seat belt chime comes on when there is nothing on the front seat or almost nothing on the seat. This has happened at least 1/2 dozen times or more. I can be driving and all of sudden comes on. It can scare one esp 1st time. You don't know what is happening. I thought i blew a tire or door came open. My attention was everywhere but on 65 mph traffic on freeway. Breaks one's driving concentration. Independent of temperature. Other problem i have is lots of wind comes in on passenger door. It is not aligned properly. Gm has tried a couple of times with no success. Very annoying and hard to hear radio etc.. 3rd problem is navigation, communication center,it keeps disappearing. It is giving me directions somewhere and then just disappears and resets. It has been replaced once. It has gotten me stranded more than once. I am a senior who relies on system. When it disappears, i am not always somewhere that i can stop to completely reset and reenter all the information again. I feel that this is a safety issue. I was on hwy every time and most of the time not in a remote area but not in area that i could stop. In ca. There are many areas you do not want to get off the frwy at. All instances above happened in the city areas while driving. Service was done oct 2015. None of issues resolved despite attempt. All are ongoing.

Squealing sound, mostly after taking a left turn, as if it were coming from left rear tire and also a sound coming from steering wheel. Notified by onstar i may have an issue with both abs system or stabilitrak system. Sound is intermittent so when i brought to my mechanic it did not make the sound so he could not diagnose where it was coming from- no charge. One day later it started again. It sounds scary and i hope nothing happens if it is the brake system. This is why i sent this complaint in. This is second of two complaints because in the first, i forgot to mention where the noise sounded like it was coming from.

While making a right turn at the bottom of a freeway offramp the keys on the keyring attached to the key in the ignition got stuck in the steering wheel. This briefly prevented me from exiting the turn, and then when the keys broke free the car had turned itself off!! i had no power steering, no power breaks and no headlights. I was on a slight downgrade and was able to coast to the next block where i turned right out of traffic before coming to a full stop. I was then able to restart the car after putting into neutral (or park, don't remember). The keychain that got stuck was from enterprise rental and had 2 key-fobs on it plus a plastic id tag on a small wire ring. This, combined with the poor placement of the ignition switch, has resulted in my hitting the keys with my hands while steering several times since renting the car 5 days ago. The ignition switch is located very close to the wheel and the ignition key which sticks out of the large key-fob is very close to the steering wheel even without other keys on the ring. Testing this in my driveway it is very easy to turn the car off while in drive. Very scary!

Issue # 1-the wiper blades stopped working during a rain storm and were stuck midway on the windshield right in my site line while on o long 9 hour trip.i checked the engine compartment area after stopping the vehicle in a safe area.the turned on the wiper control inside the car and could hear the motor but no viper movement occurred.the control unit for the wipers seemed to be inaccessible as there is a large sealed housing over the area covering the wiper motor so i was unable to access or try to repair myself.i waited out the storm and researched to find that the 2013 model terrain had a recall for this exact issue in the united states and that my model year car of 2015 has had the same recall in canada only even though there are several hundred reported cases in the us per consumer reports.my hope is a recall for full repair of the issue will occur immediately in the us as this is a major safety issue that could result in serious injury or even death should this defect not be recalled for repair.issue #2- the front brakes on my 2015 terrain will lie have to replaced for the 3rd time in a 4 month period.the breaks shake and shimmy the front end of the vehicle when they are applied causing ineffective breaking.both the break pads and rotors were replaced twice and the left from wheel bearing has also been replaced with the 2nd wheel bearing needing replacement in the very near future. Theses repairs alone have cost me $1300.the auto shop did cover the 2nd brake and rotor repair and will find out shortly if they will cover the 3rd repair.this is another crucial safety issue for this car that is a vital part of my daily commute to and from work.my hope is you will take both these safety issue serious and issue recalls.

Steering to the left, but not always, there is a squealing noise. Continues to squeal driving straight and then stops. It is intermittent so when brought to my mechanic, he couldn't resolve. Charged me nothing. Didn't do it for a day and then i received a notification from onstar that there was an issue with my abs system and a second notification that stabilitrak system had an issue. It is very loud at times. I also have a squealing noise coming from the steering wheel and that is intermittent also.

Testing this in my driveway it is very easy to turn the car off while in drive. Very scary!

In 2 days, the vehicle has stalled on me. I was in the parking lot and another car almost hit me since the car slowed down and the steering wheel got hard then shut off. Today, i almost got hit again after stopping at a stop sign going into a turn i almost hit someone and a car almost hit me.

While parked in my driveway.the automatic liftgate goes up and then falls halfway, goes up an then falls back all the way down. It hit me an knocked me own the first time.it started in july of this year and does it consistently. I could have been seriously hurt or a child could even be crushed as it is extremely heavy.i cannot use the rear compartment as the liftgate will not stay open. There is a lawsuit on certain years for this very problem and gmc has a tsb up through 2014 butfor some reason the 2015 model is not include even though it has the exact same issue.here is a video of the issue. This is another terrain as i don't know how to get a video of mine on youtube.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3nckl-deta

The rear hatch will fully open and then falls part way or fully without any cause. It hit me in the head and back as i was not expecting the hatch door to fall. This was obviously while the car was parked in a garage.

There is water leaking (possibly from the air conditioner) onto the floorboard of the front passenger side. This has caused mold to form and grow in the carpeting. It is constant and is getting worse.

While pulling into a parking spot very slow the vehicle accelerated and damaged car in front there are traction marks showing the sudden acceleration. The car would not stop until the ignition was turned off. Because the cars in front were hit i placed the car in park after the ignition was turned off.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. The contact stated that the liftgate lifted and lowered on its own. The liftgate struck the contact'sspouse and then lifted again. The contact's spouse had to hold the liftgate before it struck their daughter. The liftgate eventually closed on its own. There were no injuries. The contact made an appointment next week with johnson motors (1891 blinker pkwy, dubois, pa 15801, (877) 816-0659) to have the vehicle diagnosed and repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 48,000. *dt

When the rear powered lift gate opened and reached the top position, it immediately reverses direction, rapidly closing approximately 30% down, then reverses again and returned to the full open position, then reversed again and closed all of the way.this "hammer" action happened automatically.also, any safety controls to prevent entrapment or pinch when the lift gate is closed no longer worked.the first time this happened i was going to put groceries away and had begun to enter the trunk while the rear gate was opening.the lift gate then slammed down on my head (which almost knocked me off my feet and ultimately caused a bump) raised back up and then began lowering again.i attempted to prevent it from closing down on me again but could not hold the weight/force for very long. And when i let go it slammed closed.there is a potential for a serious head/neck injury from the initial uncontrolled reversal motion, not to mention a crush or entrapment hazard (especially to children) when the lift gate finally closes. Note: i have a video file available but it is too large to send per the upload limits stated below.

When renting a gmc 2015 terrain from national car rental in phoenix az in may 2015, upon returning the vehicle we noticed that the sun roof was shattered. There was a sliding door between the sun roof and the interior of the vehicle and we never opened the sun roof or the sliding door and was surprised when the sun roof was shattered. We were charged by national car rental $750.00 for the repair and still can't figured out how or when this happened.we didn't experience any extreme hot phoenix temperatures during that time and the vehicle was parked in a garage when not used.we didn't even know that there was a sun roof as we were transporting our 1 year old grand daughter around in an infant seat in the back seat. If we would have even known about the sun roof we wouldn't have opened anyway.we don't know if we rented the vehicle that had this damage before we left the rental area or not as who ever looks for damage on top of a rental vehicle and we always check around the vehicle, we will now check and probably never rent another vehicle with a sun roof. It is unfortunate that rental car companies have policies that never allow these types of damages to be reported when safety is at risk. Update 9/15/15*cw

The driver side windshield wiper broke off the bearings and became completely unfunctional while driving in a rain storm. The wipers were going at medium speed.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving at approximately 40 mph, the pressure of the air was painful to the contact's ears when the windows were rolled down. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.

I opened my rear powered lift gate to get out my groceries, and when it reached the top position,it immediately reversed direction and rapidly closed about half way down and then reversed again and returned to the full open position, then reversed again and closed all the way. This all happened very fast and i almost bumped mt head, getting out of the way. None of the safety controls seemed to work to prevent entrapment, when the lift gate started to close down on me.there is a potential for a serious head/neck injury ,and this could also crash down on a child and entrap them. My vehicle was in my driveway and was parked, when this incident occured.

Takata, intake timing camshaft sensor, locking up, or stopped working. Was in motion, city streets and big problem when backing up or turning. Stops in traffic

While pulling into a parking spot very slow the vehicle accelerated and damaged car in front there are traction marks showing the sudden acceleration. The car would not stop until the ignition was turned off. Because the cars in front were hit i placed the car in park after the ignition was turned off.

On may 17th, 2020 i was driving down the highway going 60+ miles per hour and my windshield wipers were on as it was raining outside when then just stopped working. The wiper blades stayed up in the vertical position and rain was building on my windshield. Luckily i was able to pull over and did not crash my vehicle. I was able to easily push the blades down however could not drive again until the rain subsided as the wipers would not turn back on. When i returned home i checked the fuse for the front wiper blades and it was in tact and was not blown. In reading about what the issue could be with the vehicle it appears that this is a very common occurrence in this vehicle with it being an issue with the windshield wiper linkage system needing to be replaced. This was very scary and dangerous, thankfully it was only me in the car but had i had an accident, it could have seriously hurt others in a car. I do not understand how this has not been a recall for this vehicle when it clearly could kill someone.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving 55 mph, the windshield wipers seized without warning. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

Windshield wipers stopped working in rain storm while traveling in parking lot.

My wife was driving home at night from school when a thunder shower popped up. She tried her windshield wipers and they did not work. It was a very serious situation as she was driving on rural roads with no place to pull over. It sounds like the wipers become disconnected from the motor somehow as you can hear it running. I have seen on another site that this seems to be a common problem with these vehicles and should be recalled as it happens suddenly and could cause injury.

We have a 2015 gmc terrain that has 43000 miles on it and got it in may of 2018.on friday january 4th my wife was driving our terrain on interstate 485 in charlotte at morning rush hour headed to work.she was in the left lane on the high traveling about 65 mph in a steady downpour with vehicles beside her.at that time she had the windshield wipers going when all the sudden with out warning they froze in position and stopped working.she was unable to wipe the windshield making it almost possible to see.luckily she did not have any cars behind her and she was able to slow down enough and turn on the 4 ways and ride the shoulder of the highway to come to a stop.she then called me and told me what happened while talking to me the rain subsided enough that she was able to getto the right lane and off to the exit about2 miles up.she got off there and was able to get to work.it stopped raining that day and was clear and i researched on wht may have happened or any recalls.i came across stories of the wiper blade failure in the 2013 gmc terrain 2014 and 2015 all having the same issue.gmc has recalled the issue on the 2013 in the united states and the 2015 model in canada but not the usa.i scheduled an appointment with our gmc dealership that monday and scheduled an appointment on that tuesday morning.we dropped it off and they said they would have to run a prognostic test even though i told them what was wrong and what i was almost positive was wrong.later that day the technician called and confirmed that the wiper transmission broke at the end of the shaft and that they had to replace the wiper transmission assembly.from reading about the recall and the same complaints with the 2015 terrain i believed this is a recall issue and needs to be extended to the 2015 vehicles as well.

While driving down the interstate, it begins to rain, i enable the whipers to assist with clearing the window.this works for a few minutes and then all of sudden whipers quit working while in motion in the rain.this is not good at all.this is a major safety issue causing an impairment to visibility

Driving in pouring down rain and wipers just stopped! very scary and thankful we were able to get off the road to get a gas station but i had zero visibility

Wiper system failed/seized while driving in rain on 11/24/18.apparently a problem with transmission in wiper system.mileage approximately 57,000.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving approximately 40 mph, the windshield wipers seized without warning. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was made ware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

While driving thru a round about going approximately 20 mph in traffic my wiper suddenly stop without notice. This was in a heavy rain and my visibility went to zero.i managed to slow and pull the vehicle over after navigating the roundabout.my wiper linkage was corroded the motor was functional after inspection

I was driving down the highway doing about 65 when i ran into a bad thunderstorm when the windshield wiper suddenly stop working they was on high speed, which was very dangerous because it was the driver side wiper. I had to pull off the highway until the rain stop!

While driving in a sudden rainstorm in iowa in june the wipers on my 2015 gmc terrain completely stopped working almost causing us to crash. This seems to be a common problem with the bushings going out on the wiper assembly and there is even a recall in canada. Why not theus! a couple of mechanics have advised me that it is probably because it hasn't caused a proven fatality in the us,well, we were just about to drive around a 90 degree turn at around 50 mph with a sudden drop off that goes about 50 feet down next to the road.the only reason we didn't wreck is because i have driven on the same road my entire life (since 14) for about 26 years.anyone unfamiliar with the road would have probably dropped off the edge or hit oncoming traffic.i have attempted to have this fixed by mechanics 3x since, i think it is hopefully finally repaired. Both mechanics advised the engineers really messed up and they have seen lots of these from 2010 gmcs/chevys and newer. Gm needs to take a nice long look at the number of complaints for these and do for the us what they have done in canada. My vehicle was made in canada according the sticker on the door, and i'm very disappointed if i lived there this would be recalled. This issue greatly impairs ones ability to see while driving and people could lose lives over this. I wonder how many accidents have happened due to this issue and the person did not live to tell you their story.

A bushing broke on the wiper transmission when i needed it the most since it was going to be rainy for a few days.i have seen the 2013 terrains for the same issue.apparently gm did not get it right since it happened on my 2015.should you need more specific details with my experience at the dealer as well as gm directly, please let me know.

Turned on wipers and stopped in an upward position.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving 45 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers failed. The contact was able to pull the vehicle off to the side of the road. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Once the rain dissipated, the contact drove to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ball joints connected to the wipers were disjointed. The wipers were repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 78,000.

I was driving in a rainstorm with my family on a county road and our windshield wipers suddenly stopped working and froze. With the downpour, there was no visibility to continue driving. I managed to pull over to the side of the road, although it was nearly impossible to see the road. Oncoming traffic made the experience very stressful and an accident could have easily occurred. We waited until the rain subsided and made it to a car repair place. They said it was more than likely the faulty windshield wiper linkage that caused it to malfunction. Our car engine was running fine, but only the windshield wipers were not working. This incident and the potential danger it placed us was as stressful and caused as much anxiety as actually having an accident. Had the rain not stopped, we wouldn't have been able to even drive back home.

The car was traveling approximately 70mph on i-77n in ohio during heavy rain. Without any warning, the wiper blades stopped working at all and got stuck in a hyper-extended "up" position. This caused immediate "blindness" to the road. Fortunately the vehicle was able to be driven slowly to the shoulder, where i got out and inspected the wipers. I could push them manually, but there was no motorized control whatsoever.upon getting a tow home because there was no way to safely drive in the heavy rain with no wipers (an ordeal that took upwards of four hours), i found that the chintzy plastic wiper arm linkage bushings had worn out and come off of the bearing. This seems to be a common issue and has been reported before. The bushing that literally dictates whether you will see or not while driving in rain is made of a cheap plastic that broke after four years of use. Four years. We were traveling at 70mph in pouring rain on a busy highway. We lost all visibility in an instant. We could have died. This needs to be addressed.

On 02/19/19, while traveling on the pa turnpike, i turned my winshield wipers on, only to have them come up 3/4 of the way on my windhield and stop.subsequently, my wipers became inoperable.thankfully, there was only a slight rain, and not continuous rain or snow falling at the time, or this could have resulted in a serious crash.i had the wiper assembly replaced same date, $259.678, for labor and parts at a gm dealership.i was told this was not a recall at this time and was not covered.my 2015 gmc terrain had approx. 75,000 miles on at the time of this incident.this incident resulted from corrosion to the wiper assembly, involving corrosion to a transmission ball joint, which is gm recall on previous model years, and is also a current gm recall in canada only for this year, however, us models are not.the ball joint separated due to corrosion and causes complete failure to the windshield wiper system.gm is dragging their feet on making this a us safety recall as canada has it for the 2010-2017 years.

I was driving down the interstate at night during a thunderstorm with extremly low visibility when, without notice, my windshield wipers abruptly stopped working.there were no prior warnings.i had to inch my way to safety to avoid being hit.the wipers will not come on, but a humming sound is detectable. The repair shop speculates that the problem is with the motor.

Driving on 2 lane country road. It started raining and progressively started raining heavily. I had my wipers first on low then a notch up, then up again. Then on to high with the heavier rain. After a couple of swipes, a pop and my wipers stopped in the farthest upright position. Luckily there wasn't a lot of traffic and i was able to pull over. I was 6 miles from a nearby town so i was able to put my flashers on and drive 20 mph and kept pulling over for traffic to pass me. I have now learned this is a safety issue that was recalled on the 2013 they tried to enforce it from 2010 to 2016 models which was not accepted but they did say it is now a special coverage but i do have to get it into a gmc dealership for them to do that. Gmc should allow any dealership or private individual to be able to diagnose this and then still have that reimbursement to that individual for the part and their labo.it's ridiculous that now we have to have it taken to a gmc dealership and stuck in line to get this taken care of.

While running errands in light rain for my elderly parents (82 and 86), the windshield wipers stopped working. Since they halted in a vertical position, one blade interfered with driver visibility. Being a few miles from the folk's home, the vehicle was driven there. This would have been hazardous if the rain was heavier. The fuse affecting the front wipers was not 'blown' or damaged. Even with a new replacement fuse, the motor activated but the wiper arms remained still. Since i live over 3 hours away, i verified no rain was predicted for the return travel day due to safety concerns.

Windshield wiper linkage came lose in a hard rain on i-55 causing a near accident. Stopped at the next auto parts store (auto zone) and bought the part and replaced it on the spot.

I was driving my 2015 gmc terrain on the highway at a speed of around 65mph during a heavy rainstorm.all of a sudden, my wipers became frozen and stopped moving back and forth.because the wipers were not moving anymore, rain water accumulated very quickly and i lost visibility.i had to move over multiple lanes with almost zero visibility to get to the shoulder and out of traffic.i was extremely lucky i was not in an accident.

While driving in a rainstorm the windshield wipers suddenly stopped working, leaving me vulnerable to a possible fatality as i could not see. I had no previous indication that this was about to occur.service dealer stated that the transmission inside the motor of the wipers had failed.the dealer stated it was normal wear and tear. My vehicle has under 60,000 miles as of this date, therefore i disagree with the normal wear and tear reasoning.the windshield wipers are not used daily and at every start of usage, unlike a starter or brake usage, etc..this is something that should throughout the duration of the vehicle. No warranty on such product and no recall. It cost me over $400 to repair. I contacted general motors and they stated that even though this issue had been noted and only recalled in canada, but not the u.s.i reiterated that this occurrence just now happened to me and this is very dangerous and a fatality can ensue. General motors offered me no resolution.

While driving the windshield wipers stop working.this is very dangerous at night during periods of intense rainfall.this has happened on two occasions. Once at night during heavy rainfall with the wipers at a high continuous setting on a township road with no lines.on the other occasion i was driving on a divided highway during daytimewith light rainfall with the wipers on the intermittent setting. This is a design problem in which a plastic grommet deforms allowing it to fall from a steel ball which is part of the link which connects the windshield wiper motor to the 'transmission' that powers both wipers.

If we use any climate control setting before using the defroster, then try to use the defroster, it will only blow cool air.if we change the setting to vent, heat or a/c, warm air will blow, but switch it back to defrost and only cool air blows from it.we could not clear the windshield of fog in a warm rain without turning the defroster all the way to hot (95 degrees).as this was in the middle of summer, it was unbearably hot in the car trying to drive.took the car to 2 service departments multiple times, no code shows, so no fix for this.we are sent back home with car as it is. The problem was noticed just after buying the car in july 2015, and continues today.

Wiper have quit working.it appears to be a linkage issue.noticed when it started raining as we were driving home.we were fairly close to home and made it home without incident.it appears that this is known issue with the terrain

I own a 2015 gmc terrain slt awd that i purchased in 2015 with 1000 miles on it. While i was traveling by myself (single woman) on an interstate highway frequented by semi-trucks from orlando, fl headed to jacksonville, fl at 9:30pm. At about over an hour and a half out of jacksonville, on a dark stretch of the highway a torrential downpour, began common for florida especially during hurricane season. Windshield wipers stopped working mid-wipe stopped in the left corner of my windshield. I was surrounded by semitrucks but by the grace of god, i was able to make it to the right shoulder. However, i was extremely hesitant because, it was dark and i could not see any obstructions such as stalled vehicles or stalled semi-trucks or road hazards unless i was on top of object. Incident occurred on september 18, 2019.

While driving on a crowded freeway at the posted speed limit there was an immediate and unexpected torrential downpour.traffic slowed to about 60 and i put my wipers on highest speed. Visibility was still terrible. As i drove, the wipers made a sudden move to the left and stopped. I could not see anything, but was still traveling with a pack of traffic.i pulled over to the side of the freeway, but did not have much space between me and the trucks who were passing close to me, probably because my car couldn't be seen because of the heavy rain and because i was at the bottom of a hill. I sat there, having the car shake and move while being passed by trucks.when the rain slowed, i knew i needed to get out of that spot and off the freeway. I drove a few miles in the rain, while holding my left hand out the window and manually moving the wipers back and forth for the few inches that i could reach. I put on my hazard lights and traveled very slowly to the next exit. After the vehicle was examined, it was found that the wiper assembly had broken apart.i checked into this and see that there have been other complaints of this happening. I feel it is a very dangerous situation. This has happened to people numerous times, even after repairs or replacement.i can't begin to describe the helpless feeling of being in a pack of traffic that is traveling at a high speed and not being able to even see the front of my own car. This could have had a terrible outcome.

I'm a single mother and my car have been nothing but trouble when i'm drivingmy windshield wipers stop working three times i had to fix them my tires always need air so every week i need more air and the tires in the back goes out the fastest why is this happening its not good for my family please help

I was driving on the highway and my windshield wipers stopped and won't work. This happened when i put the wiper speed on high.

This morning on my way to work on 95 north bound and my wiper blades stopped working. I was doing about 65-70 mph and it was pouring rain out and i could barely see in front of me. It was definitely dangerous for me to keep driving but i had to get to work so i continued to drive for another 25 miles with limited visibility. I have done little research so far but i do believe there is a problem with the linkage in the wiper blade assembly. Anyways this was very unsafe and should be rectified and made known to other gmc terrain owner before someone is injured or even killed!

As i'm driving in snowing conditionsand road must from traffic in front of me, the wiper on the driver's side stopped working. I had to stop and get off the road because i couldn't see to drive

Was driving there was high fog and mist suddenly wipers just stop working had to pull over and wait it out they are still not functioning even after car was on and off

During a snow storm in march my windshield wipers just stopped working while driving! luckily, i was able to return home safely since i was just around the corner. I went to union park and got the issue fixed for $110.00. I had to pay for it since union park told me i had 38,000 miles on my lease and the warranty runs out at 36,000. Then during a rain storm in late june my wipers stopped working again on the blue route. I pulled over until it stopped raining and made it home safely.i then took the car to sears automotive where they told me they could not touch it because this part was recalled by gmc. The subject of the alldata repair site states '#15789- windshield wiper motor failure (oct 26, 2015)'in august of 2016 gmc recalled 368,000 gmc terrain and chevy equinox sold in 2013 due to faulty windshield wipers. The defect in the 2013 models were not discovered until late 2015, and i bought my car brand new in april of 2015, leading me to suggest the same issue happened in my model. The alldata repair report given to me by sears auto stats that a similar recall was made on oct 26 of 2015.i took this information to union park service center and the assistant service director james askren refused to look at the data report from sears and stated that the car was not under warranty. When i told him to just charge me and we will have the courts decide who is liable for the repair costs he refused to fix the car, leaving me with a car that has no windshield wipers until his called me on monday. No other repair center will look at my car since it is under warranty, and gmc won't touch my car because i threatened legal action. I am forced to rent a car to get to and from work while gmc refuses to fix my car.

For the second time the windshield wiper linkage has broken leaving the windshield wipers inoperable and the vehicle unable to drive in any sort of adverse conditions. Along with missed work and repair parts it has already cost me nearly a thousand dollars.

Wiper transmission bushing failure while driving in rainstorm leaving me with no wipers. This appears to be a common problem that has been recalled in canada only.

I was driving yesterday in the rain when the wipers would not work.i could hear the motor, but the blades were not moving.i turned around and thankfully i was not far from home to get another vehicle to drive. The wiper arm linkage bushing broke. It is a plastic part.i cannot believe a plastic part is what is holding the linkage together.this is definitely a poor assembly on the part of gm and safety hazard since there is no warning of failure.with today being a sunday i unable to locate repair shops in the area. To make matters worse, its going to rain all day.

Driving in heavy rain on july 12, the wipers were on high setting and quit working. The wipers would not work on any setting. The rear hatch wiper works so the problem is not with the control. It appears the wipers stripped or broke loose in the mechanism that moves the wipers back and forth on the windshield.

I was driving my car during a rainstorm and the windshield wipers suddenly stopped working. Very dangerous and scary situation.

My wife was driving home from work her windshield wipers quit working. It was during a bad snowstorm at the time. I understand this is an ongoing problem with this model. I understand there is a recall in canada for this problem but not in usa. I believe this is a serious safety issue and something should be done.

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain. While driving approximately 55 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers stopped working without warning. The vehicle was pulled over to a safe location and towed to the contact's residence via roadside assistance. The contact called ray skillman hoosier ford at (765-342-3673, located at 333 robert curry dr, martinsville, in 46151) and scheduled an appointment. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

During heavy storm front windshield wipers stopped working. Windshield wiper motor still functioning as when i moved the wipers to see if the were stuck i can still hear the motor.busy road speed limit 55 mph 2 lane county road with frequent hills. Turned on emergency flashers and luckily had a passenger to assist guiding me to the first driveway about .5 miles ahead so i could wait for rain to stop.

2015 terrain (denali) wiper transmission joint failures (2) times in less than 6 months. While driving on highway during rainy weather; wipers stop, dangerously impairing visibility far from home.

Date 12/31/20 7:25am lexington kyi had just left work and was heading home northbound on i-75 toward georgetown exit #125 during a heavy rain. I can not recall using my max wiper interval speed before this incident. I was in the middle of three lanes with a speed around 50mph and my wipers stopped working! i was able to slowly transition lanes to pull over on the side of the interstate. Once the rain subdued some, i was able to evaluate the issue. I could hear the motor operating but the wipers were not moving. I could manually move the wipers freely with ease; therefore moved them down from the middle of the windshield. I was very fortunate that an accident did not occur! extremely terrifying experience.

While driving 70 mph on an interstate in flordia on vacation, in a rain storm our wipers quit working... My kids and family were in the car. My husband was driving and i had to hang out the window to stop traffic from passing us so we could get to the shoulder. We then had to wait for the rain to stop so we could make our way to the next exit.we got off the exit and made it to a gas station and a mechanic happened to be there and helped us figure it out. We than had to driveto the next exit to the parts store to get the part and fix it.the ball joint no longer stays in the bushing on the arm. Two weeks later the other bushing did the same thing and they stopped working again..canada has issued a recall already on this part back in 2016 & 2018... Recall number 2016318 and 2018137.. Why would canada issue a recall but not the united states!!!! absurd!!!

My windshield wipers stopped working. While driving.in the rain.i just drove 20 miles home having to pull over when i couldn't see enough of the road, including a 12 mile trek down the nj turnpike "driving" by following the 2 white lane lines in front of me.this is an extremely dangerous defect, and a quick internet search confirms the number of consumers having experienced this issue clearly indicates this is not a random fluke, it is a dangerous defect.internet search also indicates canada forced gmc to issue a recall--why hasn't the nhtsa forced gmc to recall in the usa???exactly how many people are you waiting for to die before taking action?we all know gm, the billion dollar corporation that taxpayers bailed out, will never reach into its bottom line to protect consumers.and is specifically why a federal agency such as the nhtsa exists--to protect citizens when corporations fail to.the nhtsa needs to act now and force gmc to issue a public recall.people are going to die!

My wife called me during a heavy rainstorm, the wipers just stopped working while she was driving home. She pulled over into somebody's driveway. The fuse was fine and you could hear the wiper motor running. I (carefully) drove her car home, with her in front of me driving my truck, stopping occasionally to let cars pass and to manually wipe the windshield.turns out the plastic bushing holding the wiper linkage together was worn and popped out of place. I bought a new wiper transmission assembly and installed it that night.

While driving on the interstate, the driver's side wiper stopped working during a heavy rainstorm. The passenger side works perfectly. I saw where the 2013 models have a recall for this same issue.

Using the on ramp to a highway, during very heavy rain with my front wipers in high mode, they just stopped working.it was a very scary and dangerous situation. I was told by a friend they think it's the arm piece that moves the wipers back and forth that is broke

My husband was driving home on the freeway at approximately 55 mph from downtown houston in pouring rain. At the 610/225 junction thefront wipers stopped working. He checked the fuse and then checked the wiper motor, which he could hear working. Upon researching he found that there is a known issue with the plastic bushings breaking on the windshield wiper transmission. Unfortunately you can't replace just the bushings, the whole assembly has to be replaced.the part is $86.00 + tax if you are able to do it yourself, otherwise it will be over $300.00 at the dealer.we feel very blessed that it was my husband driving and not our daughter as this would probably be a very different post.i am curious as to how many of the vehicle wrecks in bad weather involving gm vehicles where someone was killed or seriously injured may have been because the wipers suddenly stopped working. Gm us needs to get on the ball and follow canada's lead in issuing a recall before someone gets hurt or worse killed.

The wiper motor has stopped working. The wipers do no move when turned on. This is dangerous because it is impossible to drive the car when it is raining if the wipers are not working. Visibility is greatly impaired during a storm if the wipers are not effectively able to disperse the rainwater off of the windshield. I have replaced the wiper motor multiple times and the issue continues to occur.

While driving down i-20w going 65 mph, in a thunderstorm and heavy rain, my windshield wipers just stop.they would not come back on, they were literally just frozen across my windshield.i had to pull off the road on a very busy interstate during morning rush hour and avoid cars which i could barely see.this was extremely terrifying and made me so very anxious.i almost wrecked twice simply because i could not see.this is so dangerous!!!!!!! and i see that there are many others who have experienced the same thing.there is a recall in canada for the 2015 gmc terrain for this exact problem, but not in the usa ..... W h y ?????gmc must do something now before people are injured or killed!!

Driving home and wipers completeley went out in the rain and pulled over to avoid accident until it stopped raining, was terrified that this can happen. They never fixed this problem in earlier years and recalled the terrain in canada but not usa.

Driving on the highway very early in the morning, sleeting. Turned the wipers on, they went up and stopped right in the middle of the window. I had to get off the highway and was able to push the wipers down to obtain visibility

My wife was driving on the causeway during a rain storm and the left wiper blade stopped working in an up position and the right blade kept working and crossing the stationary left blade.needless to say visibility on the driver's side was severely impaired.

1.the component that malfunctioned was the wiper transmission and it is available for inspection upon request. 2.a thunderstorm came while driving in the vehicle. The windshield wipers were turned on andby the third rotation the wiper just stopped.it was a heavy rain and there was no visibility.the hazard lights were put on and the vehicle was slowly driven to the side of the street, where it was safe to wait.other vehicles blew horns and gave quick flashes high beams as the vehicle was driven to the side of the street where it was safe. There the hazard lights were on and the wipers did not work.there could have been an accident because the wipers malfunctioned.

The plastic bushings used in the wiper linkage assembly are poor quality and regular use weakens them or they become corroded. The bushing connecting the wiper transmission to the rest of linkage assembly detached from itself while i was driving during a snow storm causing my windshield wipers to stop working completely, leaving me with no visibility. The car had to stay parked where it was until the weather cleared.

During rain storm with wipers going, wiper blades became disconnected from wiper motor resulting in complete failure of windshield wiper function.

The front windshield wipers suddenly stopped working while in use (medium speed setting) during a rain storm. I was driving on the freeway with my children inside the vehicle and had to pull over due to loss of visibility. Restarting the vehicle did not fix the issue. The wiper motor appears to have completely failed.

2015 gmc terrain windshield wipers became inoperative on december 31, 2018 while driving on a city street during heavy rain. Wipers were set on regular speed when they failed. Upon inspection the wiper arms feel totally disconnected from the wiper motor. *dt

While driving on the highway during rain, the windshield wipers stopped moving and became stuck at the twelve o'clock position. I was unable to see in front of me. Upon inspection, the plastic linkage/bushing in the wiper assembly had broken.

I had just purchased a week ago. 71,000 miles on it. Was driving to memphis tn at night in a rainstorm. The wipers were set to high and all of a sudden stopped working. I narrowly a avoided a crash and made it to the next exit. I have read several other complaints and see that canada issued a recall for this!! please do something before someone gets killed!!

While driving on the highway i already had my windshield wipers going and turned them up higher, the wiper went too far over my windshield and got caught on the other side of my car. Put it back into place but wasn't moving. Multiple hundreds of dollars later they move again. They wipers were put on properly and had been fine for months prior on the lower setting, so this has to be a manufacturing error, i hope it doesn't happen again.

For the fourth time my wipers have stopped working. I have had to pull over on the highway in a rainstorm. The arm bar has popped off multiple times. The joints that clip into the wipers have been replaced and i have had this issue every 3 months for the past year. It is a safety issue.

In motion during a thunderstorm, the wipers malfunctioned almost causing me to have a car accident on the freeway.this happened last year when i was pregnant and i had it repaired. Then it happened again a few days ago with my baby in the car, same situation during a thunderstorm. This is very dangerous and i am not the only one who has experienced this. You can hear the wiper motor running but something apparently has beendisconnected preventing them from moving.

Was driving home from work on the highway in pouring rain, had wipers on at highest speed. They suddenly stopped working, my driver wiper was hanging over the edge of the left side of the windshield, like it had been forced too far to the left. Needless to say, i couldn't see a thing due to the downpour. Had to pull off the road. Wipers won't work at all. Once the rain stopped, got the car home, changed out the fuse, no luck. Assuming it's the wiper motor. Can't get into shop due to rain every day this week.

Wipers stopped working while driving approximately 55 mph on highway in a rain storm. Apparently it was an issue with the transmission within the wiper system.

Wiper transmission failed in a rain storm with 70000 miles.same problem as 2013 terrain.replaced all 4 tires at 65000 do to 2 tires losing air since new, when they were replacing valve stems two of them fell out due to not installed rite from factory!!

Wiper transmission arm fail out of bushing causing wipers not to work. I bought part and replace it myself. Would love to be reimbursed. I called dealership and they said there was recall on 2013 and not 2015.

I was driving on highway at 60 mph in the rain. Windshield wipers were on medium speed setting. Windshield wipers suddenly stopped moving and were stuck in the upright position. This created a visibility hazard in the rain. Wiper motor could still be heard however no movement at all of wipers. Further inspection later revealed broken wiper linkage.

I was driving on rt 1 south in a rain storm at night, driving about 50 mph, put the windshield wipers on full and the wipers completely stopped. I was able to get the vehicle into the right lane and pull into a gas station.i was able to move the wipers but the wipers would not start working. I could not drive the vehicle as i could not see in the rain and needed to have roadside assistance. Aaa towed my terrain to the coleman's dealership in lawrenceville, nj as aaa said it was a safely issue so they could not tow to a residential address. I did some research and found many other 2015 terrain owners had the same issue (canada had a recall for this issue). This is a known issue and manifests during poor driving conditions (heavy rain & usually on a highway).it is only a matter of time before someone is hurt or there is a fatality due to having zero visibility on a highway in the rain.

Driving down road at 60 mph in pouring rain. Wipers crossed each other then just stopped working. Almost caused accident!!

The contact owns a 2015 gmc terrain.the contact stated that while driving 60-70 mph in the rain, the front windshield wipers became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to royal buick gmc (3010 columbiana rd a, birmingham, al 35216) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the windshield wiper linkage needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 66,070. The vin was not available.
