I only had my car for just about one year. The check engine light ended up coming on and i found that the catalytic converter was the culprit. No matter what i do this sensor comes on. Now here recently, the light to check the airbag system has come on. I have once before checked to see if there were any recalls on this vehicle, but there supposedly were none, yet i see so many complaints about the same issues that i am having on top of the defrost system being no good. This car has cost me more than it is worth and selling it would just leave me with nothing because i still owe on it. I need fixes and answers before this thing ends up in flames which is what i fear each day i drive it. This began in august of last year and now i am getting scared for my life.

While driving my 2010 terrain, my service airbag light repeatedly came on.i took it to the gmc dealership for repairs,i was told the airbag connector wires were defective.this is the statement the dealership put on my repair invoice : diagnostics.& history code b0014.found document # 2601877.suggest following this document before doing anything else.more may be needed but this is a place to start.replace airbag connector ends and terminals on both front seats.as described in doc. #26011877. More work may be needed.this could be a starting point...what a statement to make ,when it comes to a safety issue which cost $359.58 to repair.the defect was in the installation & the wiring of the connectors install in the vehicle. As stated above gmc knew this problem existed according the code b0014 & doc.#26011877 supplied to the dealerships.

The failure mileage was approximately 8,900.updated 3/22/11 the air bag light problem has been resolved. Updated 04/25/11

A(service air bag) light came on in my terrain.i feel this agmc defect and should be covered by them. I have only 44,000 miles. They said it will cost me $250.

The airbag indicator on the dash along with the warning "ding ding ding" goes off constantly.i am concerned there is something wrong with the airbags.i would like to know the manufacturer of the airbags and i would like to know if those airbags are being recalled in other vehicles.i bought this vehicle used in april of 2015.

We started the car and went to take off and our airbag signal light started flashing and beeping. Once we got home and parked it, the light went off. Well about a month later while driving to ct from fl the dinging and flashing light started again. And stayed on from about va to ct. It had since went off and now comes on and off often. And on our way home our windshield wiper was not working properly. As if it had to have a rest period. (not an option in the rain, on the highway).

I hit a bump about a month ago, and now my "service airbags" light keeps coming on. I have not had a collision, but now everytimes i hit a bump i get a ding and the "service airbags." not sure if any recalss on are for this problems.

Involved in a 21 car pile up in the upper peninsula during a complete white out. We were only traveling approximately 25 miles per hour but, we did have serious impact in the front, after hitting a trailer and also serious impact from behind when hit by a truck and trailer. No airbags deployed. The truck traveling ahead of us, that we hit, the airbags did deploy. My father and brother, who were also both driving chevy trucks, and also had serious front end damage during the same accident, their airbags did not deploy either.

I have 41,000 miles - should i need a left pretension buckle (part failure) and timing chain - oil was changed in december, checked in january and gmc dealer states i have no oil and need a timing chainwhere did the oil go?is this a factor defect?car stalled at stop signs and red lights.

I started receiving a warning to service passenger air bag whenever my oldest son sat in passenger seat. It did not occur whenever anyone else sat in the seat so i did not immediately act upon warning light/buzzer. Recently i had a problem with the air conditioning compressor, so when brought to the dealer, they found a bad electrical sensor connector under the passenger seat that was only activated when my son's weight was in the seat. A heavier person closed the connector circuit, a lighter person was not registering in the seat. If an accident had occurred, a passenger air bag malfunction could have occurred with serious consequences.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving various speeds, there was an abnormal noise coming from the steering wheel air bag, the front passenger side air bag, and the front passenger side curtain air bag. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the cause of the failure was undetermined; however, the technician advised that the radio needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.

Takata recall - bought vehicle used,in past 2 years have gone to start truck an it stutters when trying to turn ignition over.all lights on dash flash and upon starting a 2nd time engine light comes on. I work in auto collision industry and read with my scan tool. Every time its listed as faulty start.didn't think any major wrong, till i rear ended someone at about 35 direct hit. I hit my chest hard on steering wheel & have wanted to get rid of truck since. I knew the bags should've deployed an felt unsafe since they did not. No recalllisted, but then i saw cobalt major recall and it seems identical to my vehicles issue. Contacted gmc to fix,not covered. But since we do so much business and it seems connected they will be repairing tomorrow however cobalts recall requires. Unfortunately others might not be so lucky as i.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. Light on dash shows airbag may bedefective

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact smelled fumes coming from the vehicle and noticed a hole in the exhaust manifold.the dealer made eight attempts to duplicate the failure.the manufacturer was aware of the failure.no repairs were performed.the current mileage was 24,000.the approximate failure mileage was 134.the vin was unavailable. Updated 07/21/11the consumer also stated the air bag system was worked on seven times. Updated 10/11/11

Traveling on a highway about 50mph a car turned left in front of us. We t-boned the car. The passenger air bag failed to deploy. The driver air bag shot off to the left. This was a 2010 terrain.

My new 2010 gma terrain will randomly display passenger seat belt is off while there is an adult passenger (+150 pounds) sitting there. In addition sometimes it has also caused an error code to appear and sometimes does not produce an error code. Additionally i have also received warnings on my dashboard that seat belts are not on and airbag errors. My dealership acknowledged that the airbag warning meant the airbags might not deploy in a crash and provided no fix, just a reset. This has occurred several times and i have to move my passenger to the back seat when this error occurs. I have also had the sensor replaced in my passenger seat with no change in what is happening. I have been told that the only notice they have about the passenger seat is that electronic devices can cause the airbag to be activated when no one is seating there. However that was not my complaint. Since my airbag problem started happening i have now also had the passenger light (and sounds) start randomly while i've been driving with no passenger present. My dealership told me i couldn't have any electronic device in the car on to fix that error. But i was told there is nothing they will do about my airbags at random times not working. Additionally i felt that having to turn off my electronic devices while driving is not fair, especially if i have passengers who want to use them. I have been terrified to drive with passengers present and have come close to being in accidents when my car randomly produces sounds for seat buckles (starting even after driving for 20 minutes and it doesn't stop). This has been recorded four times or so at the dealer but had happened at least a dozen times, even after i finally feel that it wasn't going to happen again. I have been told there is nothing to fix, even when my dealer sees the error codes.

I purchased a 2010 gmc terrain from rossi dealership .i had the truck for a day and the service airbag came on in the dash. I called onstar and they saidto take it to the dealer. I was told it was a sensors for the airbag .the next day they tell me it's an airbag module. I still don't have the truck and they still don't know what is wrong with this truck.

While driving down the road in heavy rain and foggy conditions put the defrost on and suddenly the instrumentation panel went completely black this is a digital instrument panel and it was in the middle of the night there for leaving the driver with inability to ascertain speed and other needed information found in the instrument panel also leaving the interior of the car completely black it's also interfere with the headlights which blink on and off.

While driving the stability track service lift comes on, the abs, brakes, service all wheel drive, as well as the service power steering at which time i lose power steering. It also feels like it is accelerating sluggishly when drive sometimes. This happens and goes off sometimes with out me turning the car off or stopping but other times i have to pull over and wait a few minutes after turning the car off. It happens various times. At one moment it is driving fine and then these lights come on. When taken to dealership the lights have gone off and they get no codes.

Takata recall i was just driving down the road not in motion and several things happen to my gmc terrain within less then a week first my window on drivers side stopped rolling all the way up. Then the back seat lower air pocket in seat burst while doing nothing but driving. Then my heater in car went out. After this my heated seat on car went out. Then came a clicking noise behind my stereo. Not to mention my car started vibrating. Then defoggong system, thermostat and radiator went out. Lastly my remote stopped working. And my light senors for the check engine light won't go off. It's also got weird codes it's reading. City street. While in motion or stationary

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed oil on the ground underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to joe cooper chevrolet cadillac (4920 n automall dr, shawnee, ok 74804) where it was diagnosed that the pcv valve failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and case number: 8-3863678608 was filed. The failure mileage was 149,000.

Gear shift and dashboard lighting fading on and off at the radio and gear shift locations, including time, temp, drive, radio display, park, reverse, neutral, drive and manual with power steering noise coming from right front side of vehicle when turning.

Requesting a recall on the 2010 gmc terrain. Mileage that was on the sticker was incorrect. Far from the truth. Major oil consumption, never seen anything like it. Tapping noise was reported @ 3,000 was told it was normal. Knew it was not. Had to replace camshaft, electrical problem, head lights constantly going, never lasting anytime. Will now have to replace transmission and probably engine. Gmc stated they have no record of any problems with the terrain they stated if there were any problems there would have been recalls and that the nhtsa would have done this.will this be done? not sure how gmc is getting away with this. So many complaints on line. Are there any class action suits for the terrain? can we start one? there are plenty of people with the exact same problem. Not even similar it's exact.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. I purchased this vehicle last may 2015 with no warning indicators working my vehicle loss excessive oil and now needing a new engine, how does a vehicle lose 4.5 quarts between a oil changes. Now i'm stuck with the cost of repairs for installing a new engine and the extended warranty and gm motors refused to help me with repairs. I have six children at home i provide for and now will be eating a new engine at the dinner table for the next four years! thanks a lot gm for not living up to your name im going to toyota next vehicle. The good thing i was parked at a store when the vehicle gave out with no warning!!!!!!!

Vehicle intermittently (drives fine for a week, day, month with no problem) dies on me while driving, or wont accelerate above 35mph. System says overheat condition but the temperature gauge does not say it's overheating. Dealership runs diagnostics and says nothing wrong but it keeps happening unexpectedly.causes problems on highway and is dangerous.3 mechanics said bad ecm, but chevy dealership will not replace or reflash ecm.i've spent thousands of dollarsflushing radiator, replacing thermostat, replacing camshaft sensors, mass airflow sensor, running diagnostics, renting vehicles, and nothing helps.i see where there are recalls of gmc terrain ecm's but not mine?this is getting ridiculous.i need help.i owe more than the car is worth and i'm paying so much to diagnose something that should be taken care of by gm.

Takata recall- the radio screen goes completely black when it comes back on its un- readable. Also whenever you turn the ac on it makes a clicking sound. Both happen while driving(in motion, stationary, city streets as well as highway... Also, theback windows click when rolling them up or down.

In motion. Highway and street.the defrost system stopped blowing to clear the windshield area. It would blow into passenger area either cold or so hot you could hardly hold your hand in front of the vent. When you shut the vehicle off you can readily hear a knocking sound from the dash for several minutes.the radio also shut off along with all the radio illumination initial problem date: dec 27, 2015.the inability to defrost is a continuing problem to present time.

I am adding on additional information to my previous complaint #10938600. Gmc sca #14159, 14232, 15810, 12313, and my transmission failure all seem to fall victim to excessive heat. I was pulling into traffic when the transmission failed. My terrain has fallen victim to three possibly four of the five calamities. There is no reason to believe all five will not fail under the same driving conditions. Somehow not once did warning lights come on for multiple engine oil occurrences, nor for my transmission failure.i was an hvac chiller technician for 28 years. When i hear ecm referenced, as in sca#12312, i have to ask which values were changed and why. Thermistors and pressure switches designed to protect vital engine compartment components run through the ecm yet no warning.my transmission failed on december 4, 2016, the catalytic converter may be bad, the steering gear is suspect, and the engine warning lights have not done what they are supposed to do. The unnecessarily long delay in addressing the oil consumption issue outlined in sca#14159 probably compromised my engine in other ways. Sca#12313 resulted from gm delaying the repair of sca#14159 for so long. What, why, and how. We know what is failing. Simply replacing the part in kind or similar is not addressing why. How do we keep it from happening again is definitely not being addressed. Safety as well as quality issues are at hand here. Gm has ignored my requests for all information regarding sca#14159, 14232, 15810, 12313, and 12312, as well as the transmission. Why they are failing is excessive heat. That is just my guess. They know what it is. I can not afford a costly transmission bill that only finds me back in an unreliable vehicle with some serious safety issues.

I purchased the vehicle 12/13/09.beginning around 3/26/10, i first noticed that my hatchback was open when i went to get in to go to work, and it had been parked overnight. This has happened in the vicinity of 15-20 times since that date.i thought somehow i was accidentally pushing the release button on the key; however, i often would not have had the key in hand or in my pocket to do so accidentally. It last happened about 2 weeks ago, i walked out to my parked terrain in the garage at my apartment, and the liftgate was wide open.nothing has been stolen yet, but i am careful not to leave anything in it or at least in sight.

I purchase battery 2 months ago and aug19 my car would not mstart no power, no radio, no navigation. Itried tomjump it but nothing seemed to work. I had extended warranty and took car to gmc dealership off katy frwy, the service center told me that battery is no good along with cable. Replace cable, but warranty didnt covered navigation and radio issue.. It never has come bac on but speaker make a sound every now and then.. As i reviewed other people complaint ive notice that their is well known problem with radio issue even a silent recall on it. Can anyone help me because the cost to fix it is way too much.

We have a 2010 gmc terrain and the hatch door opens on its own.it occurs while parked and while driving, happening severaltimes a week and often several times a day.we have closed and locked the door/car with the button in the car, with the key and manually and it still occurs.the hatch latch has been replaced but the problem continues.not only could something fall out of the back and cause an accident, it leaves us open to theft as well as being a nuisance and a worry.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that the defroster failed to work and the radio activated independently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. No repairs were made to the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,000. Updated 4/13/15 updated 9/19/2017

I was going about 40 mph about to get on the freeway, when my car begin a loud noise, shaking, and dropped speed to about 20 mph. The dashboard said something also about no power, no matter how much i pushed the gas pedal, car would not accelerate. Instead of getting on freeway i pulled over to a gas station. I cut the car off and left off for a minute. I cut it back on and was running normal. I immediately went to the dealership where i was told there was a recall on the throttle body and they would replace for me. The problem is that no one bother to notify me, and if i had not had this problem might nothad known.

Cpsc:i1440011a. 2010 gmc terrain. Consumer stated the car ignition cuts off while driving. Car was taken to the dealer who could not reproduce the issue. *ln

Driving 50 mph on the highway, my car decided to 'reduce engine power' and 'service stabilitrak' came on, immediately making the car slow dance forcibly to 25 mph. The car was shaking and stepping on the gas did nothing. That's dangerous, because the person behind me has to swerve or hit into the back of me for sudden drop in speed. You guys should know better! happened twice in one day. I had to restart the car, and it happened going onto the bridge. Someone could be seriously hurt, or killed. Do better!

Engine - slows down and speed up and jolt as it accelerate in speed.heated seats - a month after purchase they stopped worked oil pump - the filter gets clogged with metal shaving and would not allow the oil to get to the engine.as a result, i had to get oil changes 3 times in a month.dash board and stereo light would flicker and dim.stereo would repeat words and get stuck in one place.the wind shield wipers stopped working during a rain storm and were wiping in two separate directions at the same time.

With all exterior lights and one map light on, when using turn signal, all lights will dim when signal light comes on. There should not be that much strain on the electrical system.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that various warning indicators and gauges flashed. Cadillac vera pembrooke pines (954-517-7827, 300 south university drive, pembroke pines, fl 33025) was notified of the failure, but was not authorized to schedule an appointment. In addition, while attempting to accelerate from a stop sign, the vehicle failed to gain speed when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.

My husband change the oil 2 days ago and said that there was a leak of oil.. I had changed my oil back on 2-28-2017. My husband said there was oil on the stick. So i want to say that it was short 2 or 3 quarts of oil. Me not knowing that it had been leaking. Its making a sound like its knotting, like if the belt was loose, a check engine light came on after having the oil changed.. We have already changed sparknplugs and tyhey were bad.

The radio will go blank causing me to not see the screen

Sitting in car with key in cup holder and the engine tried to crank up all my itself. Car taken to dealership after the 3 rd time happening, dealership claims they can not find an issue with the car. Today car has done the same nhing three times already.

Dashboard lighting fading on and off at radio portion, including time, temp, and station.at same time, noise coming from right front side of vehicle.

The problem(s) that i have had or currently have with my vehicle are as follows:1. Vehicle hesitates2. Jolts forward3. Stutters4. Excessive oil consumption5. The car has been undrivable since 01/27/20

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving at any speed, there was no heat. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was a computer software failure. The contact was referred to the dealer (north day gmc in roslyn, ny) who stated that there was no recall. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to go to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

Engine cutting out and dying while driving, horn honking at times, vehicle starts itself sometimes, blowing fuses.vehicle tried to die on my wife while driving almost causing a serious accident.dealer has not found a solution yet.they have replaced the bcm with no good results.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that the key fob failed to unlock the doors. As a result, the doors had to be manually unlocked. Also, the instrument panel indicators illuminated and the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failures. The failures occurred twice. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Updated 10/22/14the consumer stated the vehicle completely shut down. Updated 10/30/14

The emergency flasher button sticks down it sticks being pushed in along with the eco button and i feel the drive shaft should be more durable than 155,000 mi or 11 years

Okaythe truck first started with the car alarm going off at anytime. We went to the dealership and said nothing was wrong. We took it home and nothing. Then the everything in the front board (radio screen, dashboard) was staying on when no one was in the car an off when someone drives it. We took it back to the dealership and and said something about the a timer. We bought warranty and it didn't cover it. Okay, i ask if it would be a problem to wait 2 weeks for i can have money to fix it later and they said yeah. A couple of days after. A family member drives the car on the freeway and the car just shuts down on her. We took it back to the dealership and now they are saying it's the camshaft. The warranty doesn't cover that either. Still being patient, i declined service because i had not enough money for the fix and find odd that is a different problem. Couple days after, the car won't turn on. It would only turn on when it feels like it. Long story short. Took it back to the dealership and now they are say is the battering. Got into an arguments talk to every supervisor because they don't know whats the problem but whatever it is is not covered by the warranty. Was able to get gm to pay something for repairs and paid only deductible. Car is fix from everything. Okay week, later the car is repeating the steps. Took the car immediately to the dealership and they are saying there's nothing wrong. I'm getting frustrated now, they are not checking the car and it gets worse when i bring it back.

My 2010 gmc terrain awd we had since july of 2010 work wonderful at first. Now, may 25, 2011 our terrain has several lights coming on. Abs, stability services, awd is turn off,and traction control is not working lights. Onstar can not see these problems in its system. Have an appointment for it in june 1, 2011 at our local dealer. But i would not recommend this vehicle to anyone.

Multiple problems:1) front right tire well hole/leak found while investigating a complaint of mold odor inside car. 2) initially, the usb and a/c were malfunctioning. Then thecar radio stopped working; and now the car will not start (possible electrical shortage related to the above leak?) i tried to charge the battery; however, i believe something may be draining the battery as it keeps dying.

Center instrument panel controls and displays fail to function on periodic occasion. Panel illumination flickers on and off. This occurs while vehicle is in motion. There is recall for this particular issue but my local gm dealership says our vin is not listed in this recall. Id#09v489000

I own a 2010 gmc terrain 4 cyl. I have had several different service problems with my vehicle since june 2010. Although the service department at my dealership has been cooperative and understanding through all the service jobs performed on the vehicle, it has become disheartening and frustrating that my vehicle continues to give me problems with electrical, engine won't start up, static from radio, not able to play iphone through usb connection at times, random warning lights coming on and off on display console. I have been given several reasons of "could be" or "maybe" but never an actual concrete reason for all the numerous problems. The computer system apparently gives false readings on occasion to service department at the dealership about error codes and messages or no error messages will come up, even though there might be issues with the vehicle. My concern is with all the electronic issues, engine issue of not starting up, computer messages or lack of messages to the vehicle when there is an issue.. If i am driving the vehicle and don't know there is a problem because the computer system within the vehicle does not accurate report correct data about the status of the vehicle, then how do i know when to get the vehicle to get serviced before i am stranded with my children or worse yet, get into a car accident because of the vehicle's computer malfunction. My dealership in my hometown can only do so much with information provided by the manufacturer; so if they don't know what type of fixes to make, then my vehicle is not updated with necessary fixes when appropriate.

Faulty driver window motor, heated seat drivers side, blinking cd on dash, noises coming from cd player, heater core and thermostat, airbags, relays and fuses. All went out including lumbar back pad on drivers side. While in motion

Takata recallthe heater/defroster blows cold air instead of hot, so windows will not defrost, and the radio panel lighting keeps going out. This has been a recall on my make and model, but my vin number shows no recall.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact was driving approximately 40 mph and noticed that the entire instrument panel and speedometer became inoperable. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number 09v489000 (visibility) but was advised that the vin was ineligible for repairs under the recall campaign. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the instrument panel would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000....updated 04/25/13 updated 05/14/2013

Driving on highway, 65 mph.without warning the cars display said service stabilitrak and engine power reduced and immediately lost power. Cars coming up behind me fast, had to pull over, no power. Almost wrecked / died. Dealer says can't recreate issue and cleared codes. I'm afraid it will happen again.

The drakes lock up and will not release until the car sits for sometime about 2-8 hours.the service stabilitrack light comes on and you lose engine power almost instantly. I have had four different shop fix what they suspected was the problem and the last shop was a dealership and it happened to me a week later while out of town for a wedding.

Driving back from a two hour trip at aprox 55 mph our 2010 gmc started flashing "reduced engine power" with the check engine light, and "service stabilitrak" with the stabilitrak light. Speed dropped down to about 30 mph without control.the car was idling heaving with rmps jumping. We pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the car, the only light that remained on was the check engine light. Speed control was restored.by the time we made it home, aprox 20 miles, the check engine light turned off.then a couple weeks later again, twice in one night, back to back. I called the dealer for an appointment because i assumed it would be covered by a gmc warranty, they did not have availability for 7+ days.the night before my appointment it happened again but did not correct itself and we had to drive it to the dealership at 30 mph. I just received the news, $800 later, it needs a new throttle body, exhaust cam solenoid and another repair to the camshaft. I do not have the paperwork back from the dealer yet for additional details, but am disappointed that this is a common problem with the 2010 gmc terrains and they take no responsibility for the repairs.this should be a recall.there is a lot of potential danger to having your speed drop with no warning or control.

Service stabilitrak light comes on and the engine power is reduced. Happens while driving at any speed or stopped as well as on clear dry roads. Have to shut off and restart car multiple times to get full engine power.

When in motion stabilitrak light comes on, i receive the message "engine powering down", car slows down to 10 miles an hour. You must pull off on side of road turn car off wait approximately 60 sec and restart car. This is so unsafe i am afraid to take it on expressways. Took to dealership they claimed it was timing chain at cost of $2000. Got gm and dealership to pay part of cost. Then was told it needed a serpentine belt at an additional cost of course. Picked car up and the very next morning the car did it again. Took vehicle back to dealership and am now being told it needs a throttle body at an additional cost of $400. Check engine light has been on the whole time. Do they really know whats wrong with it or just shooting in dark while i spend more money. This is a safety hazard!! car was brought in while still under warranty for check engine light they were never able to diagnose a problem.

I couldn't restart my car right after i stopped at a parking stall in the morning, but i can hear "click" sound. Dash board shows warnings:"stabilitrak.."(i don't remember exactly the words), "battery saver active!" and "service power steering". However, i managed to jump my cable after 20mins, and step on gas at the same time when i turned the ignition key, finally i start my engine after 3 or 4 times.in the afternoon, when i turned on the electrical systems but not crank, power windows didn't work at all, which used to work well, and "service power steering" appears again.

Getting gas in oil runs when you shut it off ruff idle

I ordered this vehicle in 12/2009 and received it 2/2010. There have been several recalls and most recently i had to replace cam shaft accuators and high pressure fuel pump to the tune of $1800.00.my wife was driving home from work and the car was rattling and vibrating like it had two flat tires. Before that she informed that the service engine and stabilitrak lights had come on. There is a noise that rattles in the exhaust and i have had problems with the heater not working in the cold days of wisconsin. I am highly disappointed in gmc, who received a "bail out" now owners of this vehicle need a "bail out" from this terrible design of a vehicle.

Had many, many occurrences with the stabilitrak. First occurrence 9/23/15. Found the problem 12/16/15. With an est. Mileage of 48,379.the vehicle would come to a stop while in motion.twice while on major freeway driving 60+ miles per hour. No matter how much i pressed on the gas the vehicle would not go.very unpredictable. Twice looked over by a gmc dealer and found nothing.

While driving the stability track service lift comes on, the abs, brakes, service all wheel drive, as well as the service power steering at which time i lose power steering. It also feels like it is accelerating sluggishly when drive sometimes. At one moment it is driving fine and then these lights come on. When taken to dealership the lights have gone off and they get no codes. I was told the that it says a miscommunication and no code is recorded. The service light issues happen on city streets. The sluggish acceleration happens on both city and highway. I have been to the gmc dealer several times over the last 2-3 weeks.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving various speeds, the stabilitrak warning indicator illuminated and the speed decreased to 30 mph. The failure occurred on two occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing, but the details could not be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,000. The vin was not available.

Ignition shutoff' while driving; this occurred at least 8 times; took the vehicle to the dealer who couldn'treproduce the issue, but they did suggest having my fuel lines replacedat a cost of $400.

I own a 2010 gmc terrain that only has 51,000 miles. I was excellerating to get onto the highway when my check engine light came on and my vehicle all the sudden had lack of engine power. I was able to pull to the shoulder of the road, thankfully without getting hit. My vehicle was towed to my mechanic's shop. A test was done and the code p2135 throttle/petal sensor switch was revealed. The car was turned off and then back on and the engine light was not on. Now, two weeks later, this happened again on a city street. This time another warning came on along with the engine light. The warning says engine stability trak. This is a huge concern as bot times, i narrowly escaped an accident. My vehicle only has 51,000 miles and it is well taken care of. My concern is this is a manufacturer defect.

While driving traction control, awd, and abs system shuts off prompting to service stabilitrak. Upon taking the vehicle to dealer nothing is found. But im forced to drive without key safety features. My stopping time is drastically increased making it harder to feel safe knowing i have to drive in various weather conditions with out abs. Even normal city driving has been nerve wrecking. I purchased this vehicle 8 days ago and have been back to the dealer 4 times for the same issue.

I have had car speed up accelerate not accelerate burn oil and loss of engine power body throttle and mobile stabilizer codes and it's un safe i have children dealership wil not honor so called warranty

I was getting gas, fiiled up, when i got back into car, didn't want to start, really had to hit gas pedal, very scary, that happened 3 times after getting gas, another time i was at stop light, and it just stalled, engine completely stopped, hard start up again, so i decided for safety reasons taking it to dealership, it's still there as of 11/20/2017, but wanted to get this out there, i think maybe this is ongoing issue with certain models of gmc, and feel maybe it will be a recall issue if enough people report issues as such as these. I thank god i wasn't driving and this happened, def a safety concern gmc needs to address.

My car is idling when it suddenly begins to idle roughly then stalls. There is a"reduced engine power" warning that appears with the check engine light, and "service stabilitrak" with the stabilitrak light. This has happened 3 times, twice when the vehicle was stationary, another time in motion, driving on a city street, and i was able to pull over before it died. In reading other complaints, this seems to be a known safety issue for 2010 gmc terrains and should be investigated as a recall issue.

While driving my car the stabili-track service light comes on.then the check engine, brake, abs, awd, as well as the power steering lights come on. Then i lose power steering and my speed is throttled down a lot.its happened on the expressway and city streets.when on the expressway i have to immediately get to the shoulder without getting into an accident.i've had my car towed to the mechanics shop multiple times and they've told me that there are no codes when hooking up the computer.they kept it a few times in the last 3 years and have told me there were misfires after letting the car sit and testing it out (test driving) and work was needed (throttle body replacement, spark plug replacement, cam shaft swap out and a full tune-up).$1000 and less than a year later it happens again and then again.this is the 3rd year (2016, 2017, 2018) it has happened to me in a row and all the mechanic can say is that it may be something gm should investigate.i've called gm with no luck.this is extremely unsafe and i am thankful that my kids were not in the car when it happens.trying to navigate traffic on the expressway when your car throttles down to 25-35 mph is insane.

The car check engine light won't go out and the onstar rep says it is transmission related to possibletiming chainwhich was replaced aprox 2years agoat that time there was nowarning as the check engine light coming oni travel only highway most of the time and im in fear that the car will stop without notice i feel if the chain is the issue againthey should make good on the car it has aprox 71000.miles at this time and if it stops on highwaycould be cause for deaths to me or maybe someone else

We purchased the 2010 gmc terrain on march 30th and since we have had to change the oil 3 times and once refill the oil. We have to check it daily to make sure it has oil and is safe for our daughter to drive it. There are so many people that have complained about this exact problem we have found out since we purchased the car. I would have never purchased and dont want to sell it to someone else with the same problem. I feel the company should stand behind the issue. There is no leaks we have no oil in our driveway and the car does not smoke. The oil just burns away i guess. I feel the dealership we purchased from should have fixed this before they sold it.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and all of the warning lamps illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to dealer. The technician diagnosed that the throttle body and cam shaft were defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 500 and the current mileage was 44,000. Pm

While driving back from work, in a 2010 2.4l gmc terrain purchased at star buick gmc, the car was making a horrible rattling noise, which has occurred several times. Stopping at a red light caused the entire car to shut down. It would not turn over and i was in the middle of rush-hour traffic with a car that wouldn't respond. Several times over the years i have taken my car to the joycekoons gmc dealership for required maintenance and service, because the timing chain was damaged, and the car appears to be losing significant amounts of oil between oil changes. This time when having the vehicle towed to the dealership i'm told that the entire engine needs replacement because metal has gotten inside, and conveniently i'm 3 months outside of my powertrain warranty. This sort of issue puts lives at risk (engine failure in traffic) and i would like the govt. To investigate so that others do not suffer from this problem in the future.

I was driving down the middle of the road with people behind me, and the car just completely stopped in the middle of the road. The light came on that said stabilitrack. It would not start back up. We had it towed to a dealership, and we contacted gmc, they said our warranty had ran out in december 2014, and this took place february 2015. The vehicle had around 60,000 miles on it. It turned out it was the timing chain, and when it broke it destroyed the whole motor. It actually sheared off some other metal parts. The whole engine had to be replaced, and we had to pay for it all out of our pocket, while we are still paying for the vehicle itself. I feel like that is a problem with the vehicle itself, because you read on these pages and forums, and tons of people have had the same problem as we had. We could have been killed by it stopping right in the middle of the road with no warning at all!!

Had one catalytic converter replaced a few weeks ago now need the 2nd one replaced.gm has a special coverage notice for 2010-2011 catalytic converters on the 2.4 liter engine but not the 3.0.my 3.0 has the same issue and gm should include covering this under special coverage.....i phoned to voice the issue and they gave me a case number should there be inclusion for the 3.0 in the future. Had a few cars over the years and never had to replace one catalytic converter, two on a car that does not have alot of mileage and not included in the special coverage for the 2.4 engine does not seem right.

Well firstproblem was in sept 2014mileage on car was 54170the car had to be towed frommy job to dealercame out after working and entire electricsystem was downcould not startor open locks on car with key systemat that time they told me the timing chain broketo which they fixed andon receipt they claim theyreplaced chaingasket and sealantalso they claimed they performed a carbon cleaningand did a 27 point inspectionnow at mileageof 73740they claim the motor is badand said it would not last andwanted to charge me 7500.00 for a new motor when i told them the check engine light came on and would not go outi was told because i went toanother place for oil changethat was a firestone place the mechanic claimed the actuatorswere clogged and claimed the motor was not repairableat thati decided totrade the car in and idid lease another car at the samedealeri know its not their fault the engine did not hold up like it was thought to when ipurchased it. While iwas waiting forreasons why the light was onspoke to another personand she claimed she had2 persons who had similar issues so that is why im looking to see if there is a suitin progress

Car lost power in the middle of traffic moving at 60 mph on a busy highway. Had to be towed to a dealer, where they said the timing chain had broken and the engine was destroyed as a result. Then we find out that broken timing chains and broken balance chains are common problems on 2010/2011 terrains.yet gm has never been forced to acknowledge the problem or issue a recall for this serious safety issue. (timing chain breakage in any engine should be rare, not a common occurrence!)

While entering a freeway onramp, vehicle would not accelerate. Pulled over and waited a few minutes. Started and limped to the nearest dealer.transmission went out at 41k miles, 5 years "80 days" (sept 2015) into ownership!dealer did not offer to do an full goodwill repair, despite the low miles and 80 days past the warranty. Engine constantly uses/burns oil. Service documentation available on request.

Vehicle makes noise on cold starts, rattle and engine noise. Found oil leaking on driveway after dealership oil change. Indication was poor fit of filter. Second such vehicle to have this issue. Other 2009 saturn outlook (vehicle rollover injuries sustained and complained nhtsa) . The cold crank engine noise was present prior to oil change on 4cyl,and steering also makes noise on cold start. Vehicle is stationary and has been purchased second hand from dealership 1 year ago

At stop light car kept turning off.first start start shaking then turn off. Several times. Almostgot hit in rear of car several times. About 3 weeks.took to shop c & m. In ny. Had to stay in ny 2 weeks. Timing chain. Broken. And engine light. Paid $1500.00,had 3 oil changes. Have to keep adding motor oil.

General motors knowingly and willfully manufactured an engine with an oil consumption issue causing damage to the engine.this is a well known issue, and gm is requiring me to pay for the replacement.i cannot stress enough that sundance chevrolet (lansing, mi) had a fiduciary responsibility to notify me of the oil consumption problem when i brought it in to them.they were negligent in their duty to me as their customer.gm has also been derelict in their duty to accept responsibility for the faulty engine they manufactured and their dealer sold to me.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving various speeds, the check engine and control assist warning indicators illuminated. The speed decelerated below 10 mph independentlyin additionthe engine made an abnormal sound. The contact managed to drive the vehicle home slowly. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,332.upated 03/07/17*lj

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the contact noticed an abnormal noise and noticed that the timing chain had fractured. The check engine warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact noticed fuel fumes emitting from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the timing chain, water pump, fuel pump, pistons, spark plugs, gasket and multiple unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle repaired. However, the contact stated that while reversing at a low speed, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 46,000.

Gmc special coverage adjustment #14159a took an unnecessarily long time to fix(over 6 months) because gm said the vehicle has to consume a certain amount of oil every 1000 miles for them to honor the vehicle. I was forced into driving the vehicle less to avoid causing further damage. The longer duration i drove it the more oil it would consume. Why would i keep driving a vehicle if the problem was identified early enough that i could avoid causing further damage. I was basically told the vehicle has to run out of oil within 3000 miles for them to warranty sca#14159a. It ended up happening and that problem was fixed but it took an additional 3 months of filling out an oil consumption sheet. Which brings me to my most serious safety concern about the vehicle. Sca#14232a- power steering. I can not get an answer from gm on whether this is a progressively worsening issue within the steering gear or does it fail without warning. Their response is the condition must happen before they will replace the steering gear. According to sca#14232a the condition is the vehicle may have increased friction in the steering system while driving long distances on a straight highway. This could cause the steering wheel to stick in the straight-ahead position. Pretty scary scenario has to happen before they would fix a flaw they already know about in the steering system. A hundred and fifty bad things might happen to me when i get behind the wheel of a car i am not that paranoid to think about them. When the manufacturer suggests something specific and deadly may happen i am going to avoid that situation. May happen is more likely than might happen. Finally, my transmission went up three weeks ago without warning. The vehicle has less than 100,000 miles on it. Ethically i can not sell it even if i fix the transmission and won't drive it.

Catalytic converter going out on a car 6 years old. I know some gmc have had recalls on their catalytic converter, why not the terrain. I have had so many things fixed on this car. The car started running really rough and hard. The first things caused the car to shut down in power. That was covered under warranty and was fix. Then the air bag light kept coming on, and i had repaired. Then a recall was on that, and i was reimburse my money. Then i had the evap vent solenoid asm and cleared. Still more problems so took it back to the dealership. More money spent as now they said "tested evap system and found gas cap leaking." repaired that then more money was needed as they said after the light came on again evap purge solenoid leaking pressure.then the compressor went out. I live in texas so air was needed. Well now the services engine like is on again, and the car idle real hard and jerks like it wants to die. After checking the engine light i was told now it's my catalytic converter, and its going to cost me $1200. After researching i have found other are having the same problem with the 2010 gmc terrain. These cars and year model appear to be junk. Will there be a recall on this problem? could you are investigate this?

2010 gmc terrain i bought off a dealership lot in march 2019 not knowing all the reported issues! being a single mother i thought i was buying a fairly priced, gas eff. Reliable car.from day 1 i have had countless oil changes, my tire pressure warning light will not turn off after replacing stems, tires nothing turns the light off! it lacks pick up speed and rough gear changes. While driving and coming to a stop it would hesitate and chug like it was going to die. I returned to dealership where i bought it from replaced the timing chain. Upon taking it home,2 days later check engine light came on. I returned to the dealership that replaced the chain they informed me i lost 2.5qts of oil in those 2 days and that id need to replace or rebuild the engine! my warranty company (fidelity) whom i purchased powertrain warranty from is telling me it is normal ware and tare they will not pay a thing, after reading all these reports clearly it's not normal ware! i still owe $6,000 and i don't have $3500 to get my car back! i don't know what to do or who to call will someone please help? i thought gmc was a reputable maker, was i wrong?

Engine - slows down and speed up and jolt as it accelerate in speed.heated seats - a month after purchase they stopped worked oil pump - the filter gets clogged with metal shaving and would not allow the oil to get to the engine.as a result, i had to get oil changes 3 times in a month.dash board and stereo light would flicker and dim.stereo would repeat words and get stuck in one place.the wind shield wipers stopped working during a rain storm and were wiping in two separate directions at the same time.

Just like so many others that have complained, the engine seized with just 85,000 miles on it.it was always well maintained and out of the blue, while driving on the highway at about 45mph (in light traffic), the check engine light came on and it died.i've had two mechanics look at it and both say it needs a new engine.they both also say that this is one of the worst engines that has ever been manufactured.i now have to decide if i want to pay $6000 for a new (used) motor, or if i want to walk away and eat the balance of my loan.thanks gmc!

Had to replace engine which cost over $4300 and i think it was due to some recall parts (timing chain and cadillac converter) i should not have had to pay for a new engine because this company had some faulty parts. I would like to be reimbursed for this.

I've had issues with this engine since i first leased the car brand new in 2010 and eventually bought it.the service stabilitrak warning light came on at various times, coupled with really rough idle.i didn't think much of it as it was so random i never thought i had a serious engine defect.in july of 2014 i was driving about 60 miles to work one way, and that is when the real trouble began.the service stabilitrak error message would come on several times during those car trips reducing power.i would pull over to the side of the road and turn the engine off, turn it back on, and most times the car resumed normal driving condition.one day in july 2014 the car just died, it wouldn't run.i had it towed to a gmc dealer and they said it was under warranty as i had under 36,000 miles on the vehicle.they replaced transmission, transaxle, tensioner, chain, chain package, gasket, water pump, and balance shaft replacement. They also reprogrammed ecm and performed more diagnostics on service engine soon warning light.from january 2015 thru july 2015 i've had horrible issues with service stabilitrak errors and the engine going into low power mode.it would go away long enough periods that i just didn't get it looked at but now it comes on reducing power every time i drive the car.i really hope this is covered under warranty somehow or able to be fixed through recall.i feel like i got a lemon from the beginning but didn't know until much later.i'm hesitant to take it into a dealer again now after reading so any horror stories about how the dealers are guessing on how to solve the issues and from my own experience of not getting my issues resolved by the dealer.i'm not blaming the dealer, but it seems there is a fundamental design flaw with this engine.

Pcv system has a service bulliten on this. Pcv system froze uo causing the rear main seal to blow out.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc terrain. The contact stated while driving at low speeds, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to contact's residence. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

I bought this car 12/2014 in 01/15 i took it in for a noise coming from the engine. It turned out to be the timing chain. It was replaced. In 12/2015 i had engine problems the engine was replaced with help of the warranty i was out of pocket $850.00. Now 08/16 it ran hot while on the free. I got off a the next exit and took it to firestone they couldn't tell what was wrong. I had it towed to a mechanic and he replaced the thermostat that didn't work. Had it towed back to the dealership who said something about a battery. That didn't even apply. They sent it back to the people they bought the engine from in 12/2015. They said the timing chain was broke again. They fixed it but it's still running hot. They warranty was voided b/c i drove it off the freeway and the temp reached higher than 280 degrees. They are going to replace the gaskets for $1000.00 that i have to pa out of pocket and it still might have problems and need another engine. All in less than a year. I refuse to believe this. I believe the dealership either didn't install the engine correctly or the engine was already no god

I bought the vehicle with around 86,000 mi - one owner, from dealership. The engine was making a noise within a couple of months. I have to change the oil every month because of the unusual oil burning issue. It died on me three times. The engine would slow down to a stop. I had to turn it off and back on. Later, after a cold day, i had an oil leak. I took it in and the mechanic said there is a problem with the pcv system and the car has had recalls in the past. I took it to the dealership but they said it was not covered. The diagnosis was rear main seal needs replaced. I found a special coverage bulletin from gm online where it said that certain locations/vins are covered because of the crankshaft rear oil seal needs replacement. Mine was diagnosed with this but when i called gm it said my vin was not on the list. I have had issues with the vehicle since i bought it. Lots of engine noise, very high oil consumption/burn, and difficult to maintain. I would not recommend this vehicle, and i would encourage owners to file for a civil action if they own this type vehicle because all the reviews lead to the same issue. Gm should honor their values by either replacing the parts or recalling these vehicles. I will never purchase a gm vehicle again. The design is great but the engine and system are of very poor quality.

Cam shaft position actuator & cylinoid & balance shaft chain malfunctioning four times between 65,000 & 97,111.two dealerships stated that they weren't aware that this was a recurring problem, even though all dealerships have access to the gm global site that lists all repairs and this new model had excessive powertrain repair issues due to the 2.4 liter engine.gm customer care utilized stall tactics by insisting that an "oil consumption" test be done that caused wasted miles and time and stalled correction of the problem by pushing the statute of limitations past the 4 year limit because they knew the car should have been repaired with a new engine or new car. Neither dealership had the integrity to assist me as the consumer with this issue, in fact i had to seek assistance from external agencies to even learn that there was a complaint process higher than the dealership and customer care when there are repeated repairs for the same the issue.

Catalytic converter will have to be repaired. Failed emmisions testing. By the time i fix this along with the other major parts i know it's 6 years later but this should not be happening. Please strongly consider a recall on this! there are unusual and major issues with the 2010 gmc terrain please check the internet or pull files of all issue where gmc states nothing was detected. This is an easy way for gmc to get out of recalls. Maybe we need to go to the news and papers.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle stopped accelerating. The contact observed that theantifreeze coolant seal failed and caused the vehicle to overheat without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the piston rings fractured and needed to be replaced. Also, the windshield wipers failed. Thevin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 09v489000 (visibility). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

My vehicle, 2010 gmc terrain, at times would sputter and act like it wants to die at idle, so i took it into the dealership and they found that the high pressure fuel pump was leaking into the crankcase contaminating the oil with fuel. There is currently a recall for this issue, #43180: product emission recall ' high pressure fuel pump, reference # n16204318, release date: september 2016. I was told that my vehicle was not part of this recall because it did not include my vin. I believe that the recall needs to be expanded to cover more vehicles because there are more vehicles that are affected by this issue.

I own a 2010 gmc terrain. When i had an oil change done i noticed an abnormal ticking noise and the check engine light would not go off and brought my vehicle in for a diagnostic and was toldthe timing belt and chain had to be replaced the check engine warning light illuminated. In addition, i only had this vehicle for 2 yrs and for this kind of problem under 100,000 miles is crazy. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosedthe problem i went to other mechanics who would not touch the vehicle and said this was a dealer issue and was advised that he has had a few customers with the same problem and i am not paying 2,000 for a part that has been known to cause problems but is not covered under warrenty.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving 45 mph, the "engine power reduced" warning indicator displayed and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the failure occurred on more than one occasion. Hertrich buick gmc in seaford, delaware was made aware of the failure and requested that the vehicle be brought in for service. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,011.

I was driving down the road when my 2010 gmc terrain suddenly lost power and slowed down.the next morning my check engine light was on and stayed on.i took it to the dealership and they stated that i needed a new engine.problems with the timing chain being stretched, camshaft and camshaft actuator, and oil leaking in the engine.how could i need a new engine, my car has 58,500 miles on it.gm had a recall due to the timing chain stretching.i had the recall taken care of in nov 2013.1 1/2 years later, 15,000 miles later and 2 1/2 months past my warranty and the engine goes.wasn't the recall suppose to take care of this issue.the dealership stated that the engine would cost around $6,000.they supposedly called gm and gm stated they would cover roughly 60%.i still have to pay $2500 to have it repaired.plus the engine is a rebuilt engine so i can run into the same issues.i was livid.i contacted gm and they wouldn't even help me.they stated they could only work with the dealership.i have to leave it to some dealership to negotiate on my behalf.i know i am getting taken to the cleaners on this but what can i do.i have to fix it in order to trade it in. Gm knows there is a problem with the engines in the 2010 terrain and they don't want to do a thing about it. I noticed a lot of other people were complaining of engine problem on their 2010 terrain too. What makes the situation worse is on 5/17/2015 my husbands check engine light went on in his 2012 gmc sierra.

The problem(s) that i have had or currently have with my vehicle are as follows:1. Vehicle hesitates2. Jolts forward3. Stutters4. Excessive oil consumption5. The car has been undrivable since 01/27/20

The contact stated the vehicle would not exceed 15 mph and was consuming a significant amount of engine oil. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the rings needed to be replaced. The contact stated the vehicle was not repaired; however, the engine oil was refilled. The contact stated that the failure persisted, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who replaced the rings, the catalytic converter, and the actuator under an unknown recall. The contact stated after the recall repair, the vehicle would inadvertently make abnormal sounds and shudder while driving. The check engine warning light and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the piston was rubbing against the motor and the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

I i changed it.it stalled repeatedly and we had it repaired recently.we also had the oil checked and replaced so gm could track the oil consumption.unfortunately a month later the car would not start sitting in the driveway, so we had it towed in to a gm dealer.they said the timing chain is busted and they need to pull the engine because there is metal in the oil pan so our oil test is worthless.the mechanic said not changing the oil or low oil levels may have caused the timing chain problem.the estimated cost to fix the current problem is at least $2,300.i'm going to contact a lawyer and see what can be done because this car should have been recalled.

The wiper blades just stopped working.no wipers at all.wipers just stopped working while driving.as for engine while driving down interstate the car suddenly says switching to low power mode and the car starts going slower- scary when going 70 mph and then slowed down without you doing it yourself

Initially radio stayed on after leaving car once.later the car would not start even though battery was fairly new.mechanic diagnosed 2 codes (p062b control micro processor and p0690 relay circuit) related to ecm.mechanic reset the ecm and tried running car but codes came back again.new ecm had to be ordered and installed.

The catalytic converters have been replaced under warranty. Engine indicator light came on and was checked by gm dealer p0017, cranshaft camshaft 9-16-16. The dealer says they fixed it. Also using too much oil. Dealer started oil consumption test in april 2017. Check engine light is still on. As of 5-17-17 i now have to have the timing chain replaced at 103075 miles. Gm has issued service/technical bulletins but does help anyone over 100,000 miles. Numerous complaints please issue a recall. I don't want to replace the complete engine. Oil changes have been at gm dealers and i have all the documentation.

Stalling when turning, coming up to stop lights and going down hills, engine making loud noises and excessive oil changes. Engine is now unoperable

It stalled and the check engine lights came on.this happened again 12/13 replaced exhaust cam solenoid and again injanuary 2014 when they had to replace the camshaft position exhaust actuator. The have also at different times had to replace the high pressure fuel pump, water pump and balance shaft chain, replaced the condenser, evac on the air conditioner on this vehicle and the other 2010 gmc terrain we own. We do not feel like we should have had to pay for the ac condenser since it happened on both vehicles we own within months of each other but we did.the other 2010 terrain we own was in the shop in january 2014 because it stalled and it was cam shaft and the throttle body about 2 weeks later we had to take this one in for the cam. The other terrain has we own has also had the cam worked on several times.this vehicle has also had several recalls for other issues. Something needs to be done about these vehicles because there are so many people having these same problems.look on edmonds online forum at all the complaints about the 2010 terrains and the 2010 equinox. Something needs to be done so the owners canget rid of these vehicles before they stall again and somebody hits them and kills them like the six people who died because the 2007 gm cobalt stalled on them while driving.we need the nhtsa to help us. They were also going to charge us on the other vehicle almost $900.00 to fix the cam shaft and throttle body, when the problem had obviously not been fixed one of the other times that gmc dealerships worked on it until i complained to gmc. Then the dealership said we had to pay about $250.00 because the owner has to pay something when its out of warranty. That vehicle had about 43,000 miles. I don't feel like the owners should have to pay one penny when there is a repeat problem on a vehicle and they can't seem to keep it fixed.

The engine comsumes a lot of oil and the car shakes after you turn off the engine. The consumer protector send me a letter about the claim form for the prior engine repairs solely caused by excessive oil consumption resulting from piston ring wear,

Driving on the highway my car would not go. Car sensor prevented my car from moving because the wheel bearings went out on the used car i just purchased. The timing belt is also loose and the motor can seize up at any moment. My all wheel drive stopped working as well because of this. I had to put on my flashers and try to make it to an area where i could get off the highway. I called a tow truck. I have copies they will not download here, but available if needed.

Takata recall- the radio screen goes completely black when it comes back on its un- readable. Also whenever you turn the ac on it makes a clicking sound. Both happen while driving(in motion, stationary, city streets as well as highway... Also, theback windows click when rolling them up or down.

I have a vehicle that has excessive oil consumption.it uses a quart every 900 miles.the dealerships say it is not covered because my vehicle vin is not included in the special coverage of 10 years, 120000 mi.however, my vehicle engine was completely replaced by a dealership for the same issue.this new engine is not the original engine.i asked the dealership if they can trace the engine serial number back and see if it was built in the same timeframe as the suspect engine.however they will not do that.dealership is changing the timing chain for special coverage though.i will probably have the dealership fix the oil consumption problem out of my own pocket since the they have to take the engine apart for the timing chain issue.it's cheaper than doing it by itself or changing the engine.

Vehicle has consistently run low/out of oil, and oil would need to be added weekly to maintain levels.after asking/checking for recalls, nothing was found.two weeks ago the vehicle kept stalling when driving.mechanic found that timing chain had stretched causing engine damage.this is the same as reported in nhtsa #10053269.

75k miles on vehicle which was maintained regularly and engine seized due to oil consumption. No sort of low oil, replace oil or any type of indicator light illuminated to warn me of any sort of issue. Vehicle was in motion, engine light came on then car died. Informed by gmc that there was likely nothing they can do because the car will not start to evaluate the issue and i did not do my maintenance at the dealership

Engine burning oil rapidly making loud noise had to get a new engine from gmc and had it installed at the dealership.power steering locked twice took it to dealership they stated that the battery cable was not connecting properly and made the adjustment.was working fine for 1 month and now the power steering locked again and i almost hit a wall and pedestrian while entering a parking garage, i am taking it back to the dealership

Vehicle's engine make loud noise when stationary and in motion. Never has made this sound before. All recalls that were listed which were the high fuel pump and carbon monoxide have been completed yet no change in vehicle. Dealership stated that it mayexhaust and catalyst converter are the issues. After doing some research online, i've discovered that other owners of this vehicle along with owners of the equinox have the same issue.

Vehicle is exhibiting excess oil consumption. I have had the vehicle since february of 2018 and have had the oil changed twice- both times the dipstick barely had an oil on it. I experienced engine knocking at one point (between oil changes) and checked the oil to realize it was almost dry.

The car has been to the dealership 4 times for this problem only to have the dealership fix everything but the timing chain now we are not in "warranty" whatever that crap means.so we are responsible for 1400.00 bill on a timing chain for a car that has 77000 miles on it.we have a 2003 with 200000 miles on it and never had to repair all this engine stuff.i think gm is the worst car maker in the world.i am never buying another gm product.

No warning indicators (as in none ) of any kind for low oil or low oil pressure as a result when oil is low or empty it will cause the timing chain / belt to break. Gmc has a warning about worn rings that results in excessive consumption of oil. Within about 2500miles of my oil change it was out of oil and resulted in the timing chain / belt breaking. It happened as i was on the entrance ramp to theinterstate system.

Camshaft position sensor error occurred.gmc has issued a recall for model year 2011 terrains, but not 2010.same issue is affecting that model year as well. (voluntary recall 11195 & 11195a).

Approximately around the high 4x,xxx miles the engine started giving me extended cranking issues. It would crank for 4-5 seconds and not start at all or start but idles really low like its going to die. I has done this countless amount of times, even caught it on video numerous times only because every time i bring it in for the starting issue i always get there is nothing wrong with your vehicle, have a nice day. It gets really frustrating when the wife and i daily drive it and it happens about 2-3 per week. At times when i turn off the car, it sounds like its still on for a few seconds and than turns off like when a building loses power. On another hand, over a month ago the dealership checked the oil and said i was really low on oil. But theirs still nothing wrong with my vehicle they claim. And to make things worse the seatbelt sensor came on and stays on a few hours after i picked up my vehicle from the last visit to get it checked for this cranking problem. This is the worse vehicle i ever owned. I would not recommend the terrain to anyone. Oh yeah, i also brought it too 2 different gmc/chevy dealers with no help from them at all. This is the last time i'll buy a gmc/chevy vehicle - built very poorly.

Noticed noise coming from engine, took too dealer and was advised nothing wrong.2010.took too another dealer, told nothing wrong and vehicle would soon be out of warranty at (36,000 miles) contacted gm, was advised warranty until (100,000 miles).returned to dealer, cam actuators replaced was told "fixed".returned to dealer within a month or so, same problem.cam actuators replaced, was told "fixed" contacted gm regarding lemon law, refused to replace advised them vehicle still making noise.returned to dealer again, dealer claimed vehicle was fine.gm offered a $2,000.00 owner loyalty but refused any further repair or replacement of my vehicle.recently received a letter from gmc (dated september 2014) advising of the problems that i have had since first month i owned vehicle, and i purchased brand new!october 23, 2014 sent letter to gmc (certified mail/return receipt requested) requesting they either respond and repair or replace vehicle or i would file complaints and do my best to get a class action suit started. As of today 11/21/2014, i have not received any response from gmc.i do not have the finances to just go buy vehicles, i have disabled people in the household and this was to be a long term "reliable" vehicle, instead it has been a joke!vehicle has stalled in traffic numerous times, decided to drop speed and have no power to barely move.this is one of the avenues i am taking, i will also be forwarding copies of all of the repairs and letters to senators, congressman etc.

I own a 2010 gmc terrain, i had to replace the timing belt mid 2016 which cost around $2000 , now less than 3 years later i'm told it needs replaced again, another $2400 this time. My vehicle is barley over 100,000 miles. This is absolutely ridiculous. Of course the first time my warranty had just expired and the replacements warranty is 12 months/12,000 miles. So of course not covered again. I would think that gmc would want to address this as an issue. Almost 4000 in repairs and vehicle less than 10 years old and apparently 108,000 miles. I've seen several other complaints online and feel gmc should help cover the repairs or do a recall and cover it. I won't by another gmc.

2010 gmc terrain started making a rattling noise and shaking a stop, like a rough idle, took it to the dealership to get it fixed under warranty, had toreplace water pump, balance shaft chain and tensioner replaced intake and exhaust. Camshaft position actuators and bolts replaced high pressure, fuel pump replaced v/c gasket timing chain tensioner and left timing chain guide. That was replaced 09/07/13 in warranty.now it is 3/09/15 and the same problems have come up again and my car is currently in the shop at the dealership , that means there is a serious problem with this make of engine and it should be recalled before someone gets hurt because of it.

In sept. 2017, the dealer fixed the catalytic converter b/c it was under a "special warranty" for free however i had to pay $582 to replace the cracked manifold which caused the converter issue.i recently went to the dealership b/c the check engine light came on again, the catalytic converter is still under warranty and they have to fix the oil consumption problem the is under a "special coverage"and again i was told that i had to pay for another cracked manifold.i asked what causes it and why and was told they did not know but i believe it must have to do with the original catalytic converter issue. I understand that there is a special coverage to fix the cc however something must be causing it to fail and gm is aware of it.

2010 gmc terrain with v6 loss of power, engine codes timing issue, camshaft sensor fault, crankshaft sensor fault. Stabil-track fault. Rough idle, oil consumption. The list goes on. This is a common thing with these engines and gm has done nothing. This has been going on with this vehicle for awhile. Stay away from gm vehicles they do not stand behind there products, i will be buying a ford and i will tell everyone i know!

Check engine light has illuminated multiple times. A rough idle was initial indication something was wrong. I have had the vehicle tested multiple times and have been told from dealership and other mechanics that it is a timing issue. The vehicle will start and drive. Safely problem is while driving through a busy two way intersection, after coming to a complete stop, the vehicle would not accelerate as needed almost leading to an accident. Under normal working condition i would have had no problem making it through the intersection in a reasonable amount of time. It very slowly puttered through the intersection while i had the accelerator pushed to the floor board and after finally crossing the intersection began to accelerate at an unexpected speed. I began to accelerate so unexpectedly that i temporarily lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the incoming lane of traffic.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently to 30 mph. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer eleven times in relation to the problem. The fuel injector and timing chain were both replaced twice. In addition, the engine consumed a large amount of oil within a short period of time. The technician recommended the engine be replaced. The vehicle was currently at the dealer for repair. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Takata re callwhile driving on secondary street my vehicle lost momentum. Fromm 45 mph to 30 then shut down.the recieved message engine power reduced.it vibrated and shut down.i looked up the code. Sat for a moment and restarted. It went without incident for a couple of days.had it checked out says it's the throttle body was needed.is there a recall?

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle vibrated with a loud abnormal noise with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to (frank's gmc located at 325 orient way, lyndhurst, nj 07071) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that failure was due to oil consumption caused by piston ring wear. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

While coming to a stop on a highwayexit ramp, the timing chain of my 2010 gmc terrain with 70,707 miles became disengaged resulting in a catastrophic engine failure.the consumer stated the vehicle failed without warning. The manufacturer offered the consumer $2,000 towards a new vehicle. The consumer declined the offer.

Timing chain failed at 77,000 miles effecting the catalytic converter.

Getting gas in oil runs when you shut it off ruff idle

I was going about 40 mph about to get on the freeway, when my car begin a loud noise, shaking, and dropped speed to about 20 mph. The dashboard said something also about no power, no matter how much i pushed the gas pedal, car would not accelerate. Instead of getting on freeway i pulled over to a gas station. I cut the car off and left off for a minute. I cut it back on and was running normal. I immediately went to the dealership where i was told there was a recall on the throttle body and they would replace for me. The problem is that no one bother to notify me, and if i had not had this problem might nothad known.

Internal issue with transmission as diagnosed by gmc dealer. Car will not go into reverse or gear up passed 40 km/h. Failure happened suddenly and with no warning signs while driving and exciting highway. Car was purchased new and was well maintained. 8-9 years old car, with 110,000 km. Four cylinder, 2.4l engine, front wheel drive.

I have 41,000 miles - should i need a left pretension buckle (part failure) and timing chain - oil was changed in december, checked in january and gmc dealer states i have no oil and need a timing chainwhere did the oil go?is this a factor defect?car stalled at stop signs and red lights.

"takata recall"so far at 140,000 miles on my 2010 terrain i have had to put a new engine in, all 3 catalytic converters and now a power steering pump and rack. I could have bought a brand new car by now. No recalls on any of these??? there should be. The engine just stopped on the highway and once replaced then the steering became tight and barely made it to the shop

On 10/17/2013 my wife experienced a sudden acceleration while pulling into a parking space at our local walgreen's pharmacy. As she was pulling into a parking space in front of the pharmacy the car kept moving forward slowly although she was pressing on the brake pedal as hard as she could. The car crawled up the concrete curb stop slowly and hit the steel pipe bollard placed in front of the curb stop to protect the walkway front of the store. No injuries occurred to my wife, no one was on the walkway at the time. Only damage was to the bollard (bent over) plastic bumper, grill and right front fender of the car. Bollard and a trash receptacle brought the car to a stop.this is the second time this occurred. The first occasion was about a year ago when i was driving on a neighborhood residential street approaching a stop sign. As the car was slowing down and i was pressing on the brake pedal the car kept moving forward with the brakes being fully applied. Could hear the engine straining at an increased rpm. I lifted my foot off the brake pedal and jammed it down hard again and the car came to a stop at the stop sign with the engine in normal idle.in the three years we have owned this car these are the only occasions the problem has occurred.

I was driving the vehicle on the highway and all of a sudden it slowed down to about 20 mph without any warning. I looked down and saw the traction control light and check engine light on. In the middle of the dashboard it said engine speed reduced. I backed down an entrance ramp to get onto a local road. After 1 hour the car was restarted and seemed ok. Not long after it happened again. I took it to the gmc dealer, they drove it 47 miles and could not get it to act up.i got the car back, drove it 70 miles home and the next morning it happened again, 3 miles from my house. I had it towed to the dealer. The dealer then replaced the throttle body assembly for $540. It has been fine for 2 weeks. In 2010, gmc decided not to cover this part under the engine warranty (as it did in previous years) and now assigns it to the emission system which is not covered. I have seen this problem listed all over the internet on many vehicles. It is a dangerous situation when the car slows down like this on the highway. Please add my complaint to the long list of people who have this problem. Thank you.

While traveling down the highway, check engine light came on and display read power steering problem. After getting off the highway and coming to a stop at a redlight, the car would not drive when the light turned green. It had no power, even though it was running and engine was idling hard and making a terrible noise. Car was towed to dealer and the fixed the cam actuator. Car drove fine for another 2,000 miles and same issued occurred. It is currently being repaired...again. Will file another complaint when i know what the issue is.

Sitting in car with key in cup holder and the engine tried to crank up all my itself. Car taken to dealership after the 3 rd time happening, dealership claims they can not find an issue with the car. Today car has done the same nhing three times already.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While the vehicle was stationary or while driving various speeds, the engine indicator illuminated. An independent mechanic replaced the catalytic converter twice in the vehicle, but the failure recurred. It was later determined that there was a cracked intake manifold and moisture in the manifold. A dealer was not contacted about the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I have had my vehicle checked twice this year regarding the loud exhaust noise and the strong fuel smell coming from my vehicle. They said that it is not a concern and i get migraines from the smell as well. I take my little sister to school everyday and the the fumes are overwhelming.

Car is losing oil,no drip on ground, must be burning in motor, having to add oil every few month. This is being going own for about 3yrs.when we get oil changed, have to add oil within 3 or 4 months.have stopped driving car.need to sale it need to get car fixed.losing oil when driving. Not while parked.

Ticking noise from engine along with excess oil consumption.mechanic says this definitely should be a recall.timing chain will need to be replaced.there is a noise from the engine when the car idles and accelerating.it consumes approximately 2.5 extra quarts of oil between oil changes of 3,000 mile intervals.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact was driving at an undisclosed speed, when she heard a rattling noise and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to richard kay superstore (1935 pearman dairy rd, anderson, sc 29625) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that piston rings failure caused excessive oil consumption, there was coolant in the oil, and the engine was internally cracked. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000.

This happens every time i drive. It is like my car is not getting enough fuel. It will stall when we are driving slow and if i am on a hill it will completely loose power. When i loose power the engine is still running but i can't put it in gear. I the. Have to shut my car offstart it again and put it in neutral to get off the hill. I am afraid that i will loose power or stall on the highway and i will get in an accident. My warranty ran out less than 2 months ago and i have been talking to the dealership for almost three months. They kept saying nothing was wrong now they are saying i have all these engine problems but now it's out of warranty.

This is the second time that the vehicle has stalled at a stop. I am seriously concerned with the safety of my wife. What if this happens and she involved in a serious accident because her vehicle basically shuts off and leaves her very vulnerable? what if the vehicle stalls during driving? gmc is no help, i have called and all they say is there is no recall. I get on their website and it does not work. We have had trouble with the ignition, having to have it repaired and also the timing chain making horrible noise. The latest incident really concerns me as it may place my wife in serious danger.please help!

My exhaust manifold has a crack/broken in it. It started out with a little noise, but, now it is roaring under the hood. Exsessive amount of exhaust gasses and smell into the cabin, and has caused numerous headaches from noise and smell. During start up, driving around town, on the highway, in the hot or cold.

While driving at about 5 miles an hour, turning vehicle around a cul-de-sac the vehiclecompletely turns off. I have contacted the gmc dealership about this and the only recall i was told was the fuel pump. I was told they would order my parts and they would call me; i never received a call. I have towed the vehicle to two repair shops and i have been told by both that it is a timing chain issue and i need to install a new engine! i called the gmc dealership and asked if the recall could be a direct result of my timing chain issue, and if i had any other recalls? i was told i would have to pay for them to look at my vehicle if not apart of the recall. I do not have the extra money to pay multiple times for my car to be looked at or to put an engine in a vehicle that has less than 85k miles. I purchased this vehicle in late december of 2015 and have not be able to drive the vehicle since about september of 2016. I have gotten at least two oil changes in that time frame (dec-sept) from the same gmc dealership and was never told about any recalls or any issues with my vehicle besides needing tires/brakes. One of the mechanics that i took the vehicle to said i have other recalls. I was not able to locate any others online and that is my reason for writing this. I am very unsatisfied and do not know how to proceed.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. On several occasions, the check engine warning indicator illuminated intermittently. Additionally, the vehicle vibrated abnormally. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the camshaft position sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the air conditioner compressor was replaced. The contact continued to hear the noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer a second time where there were other repairs made. The contact was not sure of what repairs were made. The noise continued after the vehicle was repaired. Experienced a complete shut down while driving; 1st accelerating to about 20 mph, restarted vehicle, drove about 4 miles to my home doing approx. 35 miles mph, vehicle shut down again. Have appt with wilkens-buick, glen burnie, md on 8/28/2013; hope i make it without someone crashing into me because of the shutdown. Just had 20000 routine maintenance work done. V6-2994 3.0l dohc.

I purchased my 2010 gmc terrain in may 2013. After a few weeks of having the truck. I heard a rattling noise. I took it back to where i purchased it and they said i was out of oil. From may - oct. I have had to have 4 oil changes which my mileage was now 52,000. The service light never came on but could hear a rattling sound. They recently did a consumption test on the truck and they say everything looks fine. Now when i stop at a light or stop sign, my truck shakes as though it is going to turn off. It does this randomly. Of course they could not duplicate it when they test drove it. My light does not always illuminate and my speaker on the driver side will be static when i start up the truck. Needless to say , having the truck for only a few months and seeing this many issues is a huge concern, after reading all the complaints i am truly concerned this is not the truck that is going to last very long, even though i paid good money for it. Very disappointing. I have talked to many people who have had to have the engine replaced. Instead of going through all the repairs that seems like the ideal solution. Its odd when you read the other complaints, it seems even gmc doesn't know how to fix their own issues or don't know what is causing these problems. I read that gmc terrains have had 131 bulletins wow.

Copy of letter to mr. Thomas d'addario, d'addario automotive group, explaining the serious problems which may have been caused by the mass air flow sensor hose not connected or dislodged during the engine/ecm module replacement.the consumer stated due to the problem, he experienced loss of power and a leaking exhaust and/or catalytic converter. Also, the consumer had to add one quart of oil every 1000 miles and the check engine light illuminated several times.

Noticed a hissing noise. Thought was in cabin air filter, so we replaced (it was dirty). Hissing noise continued. Then hissing noise grew worse, no cold air from a/c. Brought to the dealer & the compressor was replaced due to a hole in compressor. 22675 miles, 2 yrs 2 mos in service.

Engine cutting out and dying while driving, horn honking at times, vehicle starts itself sometimes, blowing fuses.vehicle tried to die on my wife while driving almost causing a serious accident.dealer has not found a solution yet.they have replaced the bcm with no good results.

The four cylinder engine consumes lube oil at an alarming rate. This could cause a catastrophic engine failure if engine oil level is not constantly monitored.

My 2010 gmc terrain 4 cylinder awd has made pinging noise and rattling with acceleration since new.the best gas milage it has ever gotten was 20.9 mpg.the window sticker on the dealer lot stated gas milage range city/20 highway/29.. The expected range for most drivers was 24-34 mpg. I believe this range to be fraudulent, and should be investigated. I will be having the engine scanned on the dealer computer.a second failure of my vehicle is the power rear liftgate. It fully opens initially then starts to close on it's own, it cannot be stopped by force, until it closes completely. There is no safety feature that prevents closure while someone or thing is in it's path. This could critically injure or kill someone. The dealer states the hydraulic arm leaked oil & failed. I am awaiting parts for dealer to fix it.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving various speeds, there was an abnormal noise coming from the steering wheel air bag, the front passenger side air bag, and the front passenger side curtain air bag. Dashboard lighting fading on and off at radio portion, including time, temp, and station.at same time, noise coming from right front side of vehicle.

With all exterior lights and one map light on, when using turn signal, all lights will dim when signal light comes on. There should not be that much strain on the electrical system.

Gear shift and dashboard lighting fading on and off at the radio and gear shift locations, including time, temp, drive, radio display, park, reverse, neutral, drive and manual with power steering noise coming from right front side of vehicle when turning.

I had complained several times to the courtesy gmc in trussville, al in the last that my 2010 gmc terrain was not getting good gas mileage and idling and shifting very rough. At that time it was under the 36,000 mile factory warranty. They proceeded to tell me that it was just how this new engine ran but was not a problem. The week of april 4, 2011 my vehicle started really having alot more difficulties on idling, had no pickup and gas mileage got even worse and it almost cut off a few times. Well i took it to the dealership on april 11, 2011 after having several warning lights come on and was told my it was my high pressure fuel pump was leaking. They had to keep my car the better part of a week to order all the parts to fix it and of course at this point it is not under the factory warranty any longer. I was told this would fix all my problems. If this was the case why was this not fixed earlier. After picking my car back up on april 15,2011, the next day all the lights come on again and the car will not turn over at all. After jumping the vehicle off, i carried back to the dealership on april 18, 2011 and they tell me now my battery is dead. It has been one problem after another with this vehicle and this dealership. It is a true lemon and i would not suggest to anyone to purchase these vehicles. I travel about 30,000 miles a year and i do not feel safe that i will get where i am going in this vehicle without breaking down.

Was driving down the road doing speed limit of 40 mph. All of a sudden the car started shaking and by it self dropped to 20 mph. Drove to apt and shut car off. When started back up it seemed ok. Took to the dealer, they said it was the throttle body and stabilizers. Which those lights came on as it happened. Engine power control light also came on. Dealer said they had to order parts and would cost around $600. Wow. Seems like a lot of the same issues on here. I believe they should put a recall on this issue.

I have had my vehicle checked twice this year regarding the loud exhaust noise and the strong fuel smell coming from my vehicle. They said that it is not a concern and i get migraines from the smell as well. I take my little sister to school everyday and the the fumes are overwhelming.

I have this gmc vehicle, it has oil consumption issues which also affects the pistons, timing chainand the performance and drivability of the vehicle, there was a recall of sorts on this make and model up to so many miles. I never saw anything mailed or sent to me about this. Recently i have had problems with it staling out when driving and pulling into highways. I took it in to a gmc dealership and had them work with me to get gmc to fix the problem. The vehicle is now over the allowed miles and they will not attempt to help correct the issue, i don't understand how i'm supposed to magically know there was an issue and a recall on problems if i never was notified and it didn't start exhibiting major problems until it was not within thealoted miles they have set. As i stated earlier, the driveablity is affected and it seems like an unsafe and potentially dangerous issue, i'm reaching out and trying to find out if there is any kinda of solution that can be resolved without me spending thousands of dollars on a vehicle that has a documented history if issues. Thanks

I purchase my truck certified used and i already have to drop $1400 because the o2 sensor went out, the exhaust manifold is cracked and the hose that recycles the gas (i'm guessing the intake valve) is leaking! i still have to make car payments and insurance payments which total up to about $700 per month!!!! i am really dissatisfied as much as i love my truck.

While driving at about 5 miles an hour, turning vehicle around a cul-de-sac the vehiclecompletely turns off. I have contacted the gmc dealership about this and the only recall i was told was the fuel pump. I was told they would order my parts and they would call me; i never received a call. Getting gas in oil runs when you shut it off ruff idle

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that the radio display lighting flickered and would not illuminate. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign number: 09v489000 (visibility) that could have been related the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

The emergency flasher button sticks down it sticks being pushed in along with the eco button and i feel the drive shaft should be more durable than 155,000 mi or 11 years

While driving on the highway the transmission stopped working and did nothing but rev high rpms. Had to pull over to the emergency lane, at which point i had to turn off the terrain. Once restarted, the transmission did not shift out of first gear. A month and a half and $3000+ later, a new transmission and 4 computers later, the terrain is still being worked on! according to many different dealers, this is a common issue on the terrains, and many have been in the dealerships for the same issue. So why has this not been a recall issue?

While stopped at a traffic light, the transmission failed and the vehicle switched itself into reverse, propelling the vehicle backwards almost striking the vehicle behind me.the entire transmission required replacement and since it was 52 miles over the warranty period, gmc would not warranty it.the issue that i am asking you to investigate, is gm's response to me when i explained the transmission failure and the car putting itself in the reverse mode.i had been speaking with one of the executive customer service reps who works directly for the ceo of gm, wendy and i was abruptly told this transmission failure and throwing itself into reverse is not considered a problem or issue with gm.i feel that it is a serious problem and concern when the passengers safety is an issue.i cannot believe their attitude and non-action or even concern over this matter as this could have been a tragic occurrence, particularly if it could have been prevented by the manufacturer, gm.i am prepared to take this situation to any level and agency that i need to and i purposely kept the old parts of the transmission that failed.we have a potentially deadly situation here and i am unable to convince any one within gm of the seriousness of this situation.therefore, i am asking for your assistance as i am convinced that a thorough federal investigation is appropriate and i am also convinced that gm is "sweeping" this issue under the carpet and withholding the truth from the consumer.anything i can do, please email me or call me any time.thanks for your concern and action.[xxx] 'information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

We were almost rear end when travelling down the highway the car just stops moving with engine running.the driver who almost hit us and other drivers got out to assist us in getting my car off the highway.we travel alot in this car what if we were on interstate we would probably been killed.thank god that did not happen.the dealer had the car over a week trying to find the problem first they said it was a crank shaft sensor now they are saying it's the plates in the transmission. The cost between $3150 and $4000. We can't afford that with only 5 payments left on a car we purchased new kept up with all the services including a transmission service the dealer said we needed to cover any future problems we may incur.why in the world would a transmission go out at 87,000 miles.i just want the governing authority to look into this problem to save someone life.there was no warning before this happened to us.i think gmc should be order to issue some type of recall.i'm still waiting for a call from gmc

The check engine light came on so i took it to radley chevrolet in fredericksburg, va to have it checked out.i was informed that the catalytic converter was bad and needed to be replaced.the cost was $1125.00.the suv is only 4 years old.the mileage is high because i tow it behind my motorhome.the real running miles should be somewhere in the low 60,000 miles range.the dealer told me that the suv was out of warranty and that i would have to pay for the repairs.this is ridiculous that a 4 year car needs to have such an expensive part replaced and especially one that involves the emissions of the car.i believe it should be covered.

Transmission failed. Shop saidit was a broken wave plate. This problem has been recalled on other gmc models but not on mine. The problem is a safety hazard because it causes the wheels to be disconnected from the engine resulting in loss of control. I think gmc neglected to recall all models affected by this defect. My warrantee expired by date but not millage since my vehicle has less than 48,000 miles. Gmc has been advised of this failure and declined to reimburse my cost.

Hello my vehicle a few months ago 2019 the engine actually had one hour on me i had a warranty establish so when i sell my vehicle and the ford motor there was a recall on the engine rings so that was covered now my transmission has went out please can you help me this is ridiculous as well as i have a few friends that have the same deal quiz me and how they're having issues with their trans

I have had car speed up accelerate not accelerate burn oil and loss of engine power body throttle and mobile stabilizer codes and it's un safe i have children dealership wil not honor so called warranty

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving 5-10 mph,the vehicle switched from first gear to second gear without warning. The vehicle was taken to berger chevrolet (2525 28th st se, grand rapids, mi 49512, (616) 949-5200) where it was diagnosed that a transmission flush and reset were needed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000. The vin was invalid.

Camshaft position sensor error occurred.gmc has issued a recall for model year 2011 terrains, but not 2010.same issue is affecting that model year as well. (voluntary recall 11195 & 11195a).

We were traveling west on highway 78 at a speed about 45 or just a little over speed limit when all of a sudden the car stops in mid traffic we almost got rear ended.passenger from other vehicles decided to get out and help us push it off the highway thank god was no injuries

I was at a stop light, when i accelerated the vehicle would not move, i tried changing gears it would not go in drive or reverse, after a few minutes it did go into drive and i was able to make it into a parking lot at that time i parked and turned off the vehicle i waited a few minutes and started the vehicle back up and at that time it would not drive in either gear. I called gmc roadside assistance who could not get it to do anything either they had to put it on a lift tow truck to take it to the dealership. At this time i am waiting on the dealership to tell me what is wrong with it.

Do better!

On thursday july 22 when i went to go start my car my vehicle would not drive forward, it would only roll forward.the car dash stated it was because of the "stabilitrack" and the transmission light was also on.the car was towed and supposedly fixed.on thursday july 30, i was driving on a major highway at 70mph about to turn off onto a ramp where my car stops driving in heavy traffic.the car was able to roll into the emergency lane. Again, the transmission light came on and "stabilitrack" came up on the dashboard.the car has been there for 4 working days and they still have not fixed it.they think it is a bad switch or wire in the transmission.this concerns me because it may happen again.if i did not recognize what was going on and thought quickly, i could have cause a major accident because of the speed the cars were driving on the interstate.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact also stated that the vehicle failed to reverse when engaged in reverse. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to trent buick gmc (1707 interstate 42, new bern, nc 28560, (252) 649-0622) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the warranty had expired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Problem with gmc productsi purchased a brand new 2010 gmc terrain from star gmc . Since 2013 i've having problems with the stbilitrak light comes, car will not moveand the engine is running but not power. This has happened to me three times since i have had this car. One time the dealer told me it was because the gas cap was not tight. That is the error code they got, which is not true, i always tighten till i hear it click.3 times since i have had the automobile, the stabiltrak light would come on, the engine was running, but no power, the car would not move.now the last time i brought it in for this problem, service tells me they found an electronic link switch which was no good and they replaced it,mean time i go on google and find there are many same such problems out there, and the dealers do not know how to deal with this problem. This is a very dangerous problem ad should be investigated right away before someone gets killed.i'm still not sure that they found the problem, and i worry every time my wife takes the car out.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to vyletel buick gmc (40755 van dyke, sterling, heights, mi) where it was diagnosed that the transmission was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

Transmission problems. While on a slight incline, car would not go into reverse .forward acceleration was very sludgiest.corrosion on passenger side door.

Returning towards home and transmission malfunctioned. Limped at 5 mph to stark stoughton wi. Sales dept helped with a loaner car because service was closed. Called next day and had to replace transmission.i think around june 8th 2016.finished around june 17th. Luke piper / [email protected] stark automotive (608)873-5661

2010 gmc certified used 86k miles while driving to work about 45mph the vehicle completely locked down and quite working, the transmission was the problem, it was 4 months out of warranty and cost me $2800 out of pocket. I see this is a very common issue, why is there no recall on this yet? the vehicle also burns oil 2-4 quarts more in between 3k mile oil changes. My check engine light is now coming on and off depending on how long the vehicle is driven. Why is this vehicle having so many issues? only 6 years old and under 90k miles? research this please! documentation can be provided.

Gmc terrain have a recall2010-2014 on a high pressure fuel pump that is faulty and the ecm unit is not accurate that cause the transmission to fail.

While driving on the freeway in houston an engine power reduced light came on and my vehicle lurched and reduced in speed from approximately 60 mph to 10mph causing cars behind me to take evasive action and almost causing a multiple car major accident. I frantically kept trying to start the car and was able to get over to the feeder road. Since this incident i have done some research and have found numerous complaints for this issue and am surprised that there has not been a recall issued. This is a very serious and dangerous issue and i am surprised that more hasn't been done.

The problem(s) that i have had or currently have with my vehicle are as follows:1. Vehicle hesitates2. Jolts forward3. Stutters4. Excessive oil consumption5. The car has been undrivable since 01/27/20

The emergency flasher button sticks down it sticks being pushed in along with the eco button and i feel the drive shaft should be more durable than 155,000 mi or 11 years

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving approximately 60 mph, the 'overheated transmission' message displayed on the message center and the vehicle started to decelerate. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle still failed to accelerate. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

The contact was driving approximately 25 mph, proceeded to make a right turn when the vehicle began to make a popping sound. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the rear passenger side tire failed to make contact with the ground. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. The technician stated the rear passenger tire lifted off of the ground and the axle was spinning slightly. There was no recommended repair. The failure mileage was 94. The current mileage was 600.updated 5/6/10the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. Updated 07/16/10

2010 gmc terrain. Potential problem with the vehicle build quality. My vehicle hit a severe pothole, very common in nj. The passenger side front and rear tires burst and the transaxle broke apart along with other components that help the wheel to stay together.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that the seat belt independently tightened and would not unlatch. The contact stated that they had to cut the seat belt. Penske buick gmc of cerritos (18400 studebaker rd, cerritos, ca) was contacted, but did not diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

Faulty driver window motor, heated seat drivers side, blinking cd on dash, noises coming from cd player, heater core and thermostat, airbags, relays and fuses. All went out including lumbar back pad on drivers side. While in motion

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)purchased 2010 gmc terrain vin [xxx]feb 20, 2010. At test drive noted low head restraint location at full up extension= uncomfortable to back bone, and head.after purchase noted that gm suppliedowners manual for this new model us car section 2-2 had description (warning notation & picture diagram of the proper adjustment),but due to the restraints design (too short of notched extension rods) the safe, and comfortable height adjustment cannot be achieved. Currently i have extended the drivers unit about 2 1/2 inches above its highest locking position (taped in place) which brings it close to the depiction in the manual = a comfortable driving position.i have taken the problem to the new american general motors up 3 layers of management (1. Dealership, 2. Customers support, and finally 3.executive offices detroit only to be told in a phone call 5-26-10 that there is no fix for my concern, and that the operations owners manual my not reflect correctly the design of the head restraint placement. This comment was repeated by the service manager at the dealership in his statement to me that my actions were not safe, and that he was sure there was probably a disclaimer in theowners manual printing.

While parked, the tire pressure, abs, all wheel drive and traction control warning lights illuminated. In addition, while depressing the brake pedal the contact noticed an abnormal grinding sound. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, the vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

I was told the that it says a miscommunication and no code is recorded. The service light issues happen on city streets. The sluggish acceleration happens on both city and highway. I have been to the gmc dealer several times over the last 2-3 weeks.

While driving to suv for sum time breaks lock up while driving on freeway i have tow to shop by then its unlock stable trak and abs dont come on no more the car slows down to 10 mph or less danger on freeway

The automatic brake assist locks up the right front wheel. The wheel still turns but the brake overheats and starts smoking after just a few minutes of driving. It was being driven on a city street at about 30 to 40 mph. Normal braking at stoplights and suddenly felt like a tire had gone flat. When i checked, the right front wheel was smoking. We had the calipers and pads replaced, but that did not fix the problem

Service stabilitrax. And light and transaction control.sometimes followed by check engine light. Stabilitrax goes out, sometimes reducing speed and putting car into safe mode. I was driving on an interstate when the service stabilitrax, abs and traction control lights came on.weather conditions were wintery mix.when turning off highway, there was no traction control to kick in.

Dealer was rotating tires and found the sway bar link on the driver front side was broken in two. This is a all wheel drive model. I have to idea what caused this to break.

Vehicle quickly decelerated from about46 mph to 5 mph. It would not accelerate above 5 mph.no warning signs before hand, happened out of nowhere. Then an error light came on the dashboard.gmc mechanic stated the throttle body was bad and replaced it, it was not covered under warranty (cost $540.00).this could have caused a major accident on a freeway or busy street, or could leave someone stranded on the side of the road with no warning.

The vehicle will shutter very hard when accelerating out of either right or left turns or when you hold the steering wheel in a complete u-turn type action. The shudder is felt throughout the vehicle and can be very alarming. It feels like you have lost control of the vehicle and the brakes are locked up. It needs to be addressed with some notice to all terrain owners.i have now spent serious time and $1kattempting to address the problem.

I was told the that it says a miscommunication and no code is recorded. The service light issues happen on city streets. The sluggish acceleration happens on both city and highway. I have been to the gmc dealer several times over the last 2-3 weeks.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While parked, the contact entered the vehicle and noticed the headliner was hanging downfrom in the rear. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was repaired. The failure occurred twice after and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer to be repaired. The failure mileage was 32 and the current mileage was 3,900.

My 2010 gmc terrain was manufactured with a razor sharp edge along the inside entire roof rack slicing my arm open while washing may car.

When the sun is high and shining through the windshield, it reflects off the chrome on the storage compartment latch, the heater/ac panel, the radio controls and the chrome around the gear shift lever and cup holders directly into the eyes of the driver. It blinds you, i almost had an accident the first time it happened to me.

Very intense reflection of dashboard image onto the lower third of windshield, causing a reduction in visibility. The reflection is very pronounced in bright sunlight, and is somewhat reduced on cloudy days, but is a constant problem in all daylight driving situations. Also i am having some intermittent reflection of chrome plated parts in the interior, causing visibility problems.

In october of 2011, i hit a small stump on the front driver side of this vehicle. When i did this it sheared off the 3 bolts (left, center and right side) going across the crossbars and dropped both crossbars off the front of this vehicle. I didn't understand how it could have taken the crossbar on the passenger side until i saw the size of these bolts holding the crossbars on. It's a joke!!! 2010 gmc terrain owners be careful because it doesn't take much to shear these bolts off and it will not be covered by your warranty.

I know im not the only person who has this problem with their terrain...i bought it brand new dec 2010..and now im trying to understand why the paint is peeling off the veh down to the bare metal..it makes no difference that my veh has 70k miles on it....apparently the gm has a problem with the painting process at the plant where it was build.....i found a terrain forum on the internet where everybody can complain about their vehicles and low and behold there is a paint problem..

Re: 2010 gmc terrain, when the rear windows are partially or fully open, or being opened, at speeds of 45 mph or greater the vehicle starts to shake and vibrate. The higher the speed the more severe the shaking becomes. It is similar to the shaking you get after a blow out and gets dangerous at high speeds.

Transmission problems. While on a slight incline, car would not go into reverse .forward acceleration was very sludgiest.corrosion on passenger side door.

The rear door air lift will not stay open when you press the button. On 2 occasions i hit my head because i did not know it had dropped down when i was loading and unloading groceries. The vehicle was parked in a parking lot and in my garage. It was not running.i found an entire page on the internet of many people having the same issues. It is called the terrain forum.net . This is very dangerous because some people have said they have had them dead fall. People could be injured or killed by the force of this door coming down on their heads. Gmc has recalls on this problem with some of their other calls but not the gmc terrain. I talked with them today and they said they have not had enough complaints to have a recall! here is the link to the terrain forumhttps://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=&oq=terrain+forum&ie=utf-8&rlz=1t4adfa_en___us607&q=gmc+terrain+forums+discussions+&gs_l=hp..3.0j0i22i30l4.0.0.0.18414...........0.zc-sm_ruims#q=lift+gate+will+not+stay+open+on+my+2010+gmc+terrain

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain.

Vehicle started making loud rubbing noise coming from the drivers side wheel.if vehicle had continued to be driven, it is possible the wheel could have fallen off.the wheel hub bearing was defective.after searching the internet forums it is obvious that this is a reoccuring problem on gmc terrains and chevrolet equinox.gmc refused to repair under warranty and after submission to them for reimbursement, they decilined.

Thank you.

Gmc terrain have a recall2010-2014 on a high pressure fuel pump that is faulty and the ecm unit is not accurate that cause the transmission to fail.

Dashboard lighting fading on and off at radio portion, including time, temp, and station.at same time, noise coming from right front side of vehicle.

Cracked catalytic converter at 78,000 miles

The oil consumption issue could cause vehicle to break down and gmc wants people to pay for test if used. Thats not right.

Dash shade too short. The sun shines straight down over the driver and reflects on the instrument panel and causes a severe glare. This could be corrected with a 3 inch longer hood over the driver instrument panel or 6-9 tinted strip in the upper windshield. I cannot read the instrument panel which i think is a safety issue.

8/26/13 we took our terrain into a gmc dealer due to check engine lite coming on, was informed that the manifold was cracked. Paid dealership to replace the manifold and all gaskets. Almost 4 years to the date the same repairs are needing to again replace the manifold. This vehicle is only 8 year old and is used for highway driving. We have been advised that this is a possible design flaw or there is a weaken motor mount.

Uses way to much oil. We have to keep adding oil between oil changes. There is no leaks on the ground from leaking oil, it just burns oil fast. We have to check the oil at every fill up and most of the time we are adding about 2 qt. Or more.

I have had my vehicle checked twice this year regarding the loud exhaust noise and the strong fuel smell coming from my vehicle. They said that it is not a concern and i get migraines from the smell as well. I take my little sister to school everyday and the the fumes are overwhelming.

The defroster and heating stopped working. It blows out air but its cold air. I have always had to play with the control to get it to work but its never stopped working altogether until friday, 11/25/2016. I live in the snow belt and i cannot defrost my windows to even see out of them. I see there was a recall in 2009 for my type of vehicle for the same type of issue. The controls for the door lock on the same panel also stopped working.

Do better!

I hit a bump about a month ago, and now my "service airbags" light keeps coming on. I have not had a collision, but now everytimes i hit a bump i get a ding and the "service airbags." not sure if any recalss on are for this problems.

Pm

While driving on freeway in san diego, ca during morning rush hour, car suddenly lost power. Dashboard message was "reduced power to engine." car would suddenly only go 30 mph. Very dangerous. I was in the middle lane of freeway and luckily avoided collisions, as traffic flow was 70 mph. Took car to gmc dealer and throttle body had to be replaced. Total cost was $458. I could have easily created a major traffic accident causing injury to myself and many others because i suddenly could only drive 30 mph.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact was driving 5 mph when the vehicle began abnormally skipping gears. The contact was accelerating from a traffic stop when the vehicle abnormally lunged forward and caused the contact to crash into the rear of a preceding vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was injured. A police report was available. The contact sustained substantial damage to the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for further inspection. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 22,000.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to reverse. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving in a rain or snow storm, the windshield wiper blades stopped operating in mid-motion without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with corrosion in the windshield wiper system. The contact was informed that the windshield transmission system and motor needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer (goldstein buick gmc, 1671 central ave, albany, ny 12205, (518) 869-229) were contacted and confirmed that the vin was not included in a windshield wiper recall. The contact was referred to nhtsa to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

While driving on highway during heavy downpour at night with rush hour traffic, the wipers suddenly stopped mid motion. I immediately blindly pulled over to the side of the road. I could hear the wiper motor, but the wipers weren't working. Had vehicle towed home where i took apart cowl and wiper assy and noticed the wiper linkage was disconnected from the wiper transmission and motor. I will replace linkage assy as "ball" connector to transmission has failed.

One night my daughter was driving on a country two lane road during a heavy rain storm when the wipers suddenly stoppedin the straight up position almost off the windshield. It is only by god that she was not involved in an accident because she had zero visibility. A scary situation because she was meeting traffic and behind her was an 18 wheeler big truck and other various vehicles. As an added issue she had no phone reception to call for help, dangerously sitting, barely off the road, on the 'small' shoulder of that two lane road as a young woman with no help in a heavy rainstorm. She had to sit and wait until the rain stopped to proceed to a safe area, fortunately without an incident, thank god. Upon inspection it was noted that the failure of the wiper system was related to the plastic grommet coming apart from the metal ball in which it was attached. Poor design should be noted in that this attachment is upside down. A constant wear is going to take place being a plastic grommet surrounding a metal ball in the upside down position allowing water and dirt to enter the joint further inciting the possibility of a dislodging in the future. You never know when or where this will happen, or what situation you might be in, further promoting the possibility for an accident and serious injury or death. Thankfullygod guided my daughter to get off the road and kept her safe. In all my years of driving i have never heard of this type of issue being so prevalent in so many model years, and the safety concerns associated with it and no recall to be issued by the manufacturer! wake up gm, lives are important too!

While driving ran washer fluid but windshield wipers did not work.couldn't see and had to find a place to pull over.very hazardous.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle electrical warning light on the dash would flash and become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for diagnosis. The diagnosis was the computer panel was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact associated the failure to (nhtsa campaign number: 09v489000 components visibility). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,690

While driving during tropical storm alberto the wipers on my 2010 gmc terrain slt completely stopped working almost causing us to crash. This seems to be a common problem with the bushings going out on the wiper assembly and there is even a recall in canada. Why not usa?!?! to add to the problem you can't just replace the bushings, you have to replace the whole linkage which is $125! since we do not want to pay labor costs we are trying to replace the linkage ourself. What a nightmare this has been. Gm needs to take a nice long look at the number of complaints for these and do for the us what they have done for canada. Very disappointed. This issue greatly impairs ones ability to see while driving and people could lose lives over this. I wonder how many accidents have happened due to this issue and the person did not live to tell you their story. Gm save lives and recall the wiper linkage on all years of terrains in the usa!!!

While operating the vehicle in a severe rain storm the front windshield wipers stopped working.this created an immediate loss of visibility.an investigation into the problem revealed that the windshield wiper linkage became disconnected at the motor.the linkage is connected with a simple snap-in ball and socket joint.the socket portion of the joint assembly appears to be a nylon type material.it is believed that over time the socket wore to the point that the ball was able to become disengaged from the socket.the windshield wipers were operating at their highest setting when this incident occurred.

This problem is in winter mostly, as i was driving my windshield became frosted, i quickly turned on the heat to defrost it,but my heather wouldn't turn on. I pulled to the side to check what happened, my heater wouldn't turn on, it was turned on but only cold air was coming out of it. I turned the car off and on again, still cold air was coming. After turning on and off my car few times the heat came on. I was able to defrost my windshield and continue driving. It happened many times after that time, but i already knewto turn off and on my car number of times would do the trick, i wasn't that concerned. From that time i realized that as long as in start my heat turns on and as long as it's kept on all the time, i wouldn't have a problem, also once driving on highway my windshield became fogged, required me to pull to the side and i had to get out and clean the windshield glass to get rid of fog. I wasn't able to get rid of it any other way. I usually don't drive much on highway so i wasn't concerned. When i happened to check recalls to my car just recently i noticed that there has been a recall for visibility/defroster/defogger system for some models of 2010 terrain, but it didn't show a recall for my car and. Gmc service told me that i would have to pay for it. I strongly believe that i have this problem with my vehicle, why isn't there a recall for all 2010 terrains?

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated that the windshield wipers failed to function. Sport chevrolet (3101 automobile blvd, silver spring, md 20904, (301) 890-6000) diagnosed that the linkage and windshield wiper module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v582000 (visibility) although the failure was similar. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000.

Takata recallthe heater/defroster blows cold air instead of hot, so windows will not defrost, and the radio panel lighting keeps going out. This has been a recall on my make and model, but my vin number shows no recall.

Front windshield wipers stopped working.the wiper arm assembly became disconnected from the wiper motor so that the wipers stopped moving back and forth.there was immediate loss of visibility due to the heavy rain.the disconnected wiper arms could be moved back and forth over the windshield by hand (staying in tandem with each other) and that is how i know they disconnected from the motor.the design of this system should be more failsafe, and a failure in the system presents an imminent danger due to the loss of visibility while driving in the rain.

I was driving in a heavy rainstorm at night at approximately 40 mph.suddenly, the windshield wipers stopped moving.i had no visibility out my front windshield, as a sheet of water lay on the glass, with the glare worsened by the headlights of oncoming vehicles.i was on a narrow state road with no shoulders (a guardrail on one side, mature trees on the other), with no safe place to pull over.the wipers would not operate in any setting (high, low, intermittent).the next day, during the daylight, i observed that i could manually 'freewheel' the wiper arms.while i could hear the windshield motor turning, the wiper arms themselves appeared to be no longer linked/tethered to the wiper motor.two days later, the gmc dealer informed me that my "wiper transmission was broken".while the repair cost me $372, my bigger concern is that this incident easily falls within the top 3 most horrifying experiences of my life....driving alone, at night, in the rain, and suddenly a catastrophic failure of both wipers, leaving me unable to see out my front windshield, with oncoming traffic and nowhere to pull off the road.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. While driving 65 mph, the windshield wipers were activated, but failed to respond. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Driving home in a torrential rain storm and the wipers simply stop working!i had my son in the car and was terrified because we could not pull over on the parkway. Upright in a vertical position with zero visibility nearly plowing into the vehicle in front of me with standstill traffic. My arm trying to push the wipers to move ....no responses!, i am so angry we could have been killed! i am reading these reports and i am livid that gmc has not recalled this vehicle!,,, what will it take for your company to respond!,,,,,,

When driving on the interstate in a heavy downpour of rain, the windshield wipers failed.i almost gotinto an accident when trying to pull off the highway.the wipers will swipe when manually moved.i believe that the arm has become disconnected from the motor.i've seen a lot of complaints about the wipers.it seems there should be a recall issued.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc terrain. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the windshield wipers failed without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was not diagnosed. The link ball socket broke in the wiper transmission assembly causing the wipers to stop working while driving in a hard rain on the interstate. Gm has a special coverage service on this known problem but it has a limited date and mileage on the coverage. Special coverage adjustmentn192266180 wiper transmission arm linkage failure.the letter notifying customers of this problem were not sent out until after january 6, 2020.that allows less than a few months for the problem to be inspected and fixed. I did not receive a letter as of july 20, 2020. The repair is about $300.

Driving at 50 mph in pouring rain the windshield wiper detachedand got stuck on driverside outside of the windshield while on high speed. This resulted in the wipers non moving and stuck upward the middle of the windshield. Thank god no one was behind me or this may had resulted in an accident as i could not see a thing. I had to lean out my driver side window to see a spot i could safetly pull over. After i dislodge driver side window wiper blade they still wouldn't move. Motor runs, but wiper blades don't move now.

Windshield wipers stopped functioning while driving in very heavy down poor on the highway during rush hour traffic.

The wiper failed in the middle of a heavy storm on the highway.vehicle had to be pulled over to the emergency lane and became undriveable until the rain subsided.the wiper failure was due to the wiper transmission link ball separating from its socket. It seems to be the identical failure covered by the gm recall on 2013 gmc terrain and chevrolet equinox crossovers(nhtsa campaign number: 16v582000). Gm's recall should include 2010s as well!

Windshield wiper linkage wiper broke, i see several other people have the same issue.

Takata recallmy windshield whipers quit working, they stopped in february when i was driving down the road leaving the store. I have spent alot of money trying to get it fix the problem and i havnt been able to fix it yet.this problem is so unsafe, it is my main driving vehicle need it to get to and from work and i am unable to drive in the rain or snow. I live in missouri this is a huge inconvenience.

Wipers quit while driving in a rain storm. Had to have them emergency repaired.

On top of visibility problems, heat works only when it feels like to , heating of radio control panel, lights are flickering, sometimes totally invisible,(cant read controls) recall that was on some 2010 terrains is clearly a recall for my car, but gmc claimsthat my car has no recall. Driving on highway at speed of 65 mph it suddenly rained, i turned wipers on they got stuck in middle of windshield making it totally invisible of matter of seconds. If i was not in car accident then i'm hoping i never will be. Had to quickly open passenger side door to see where i can pull over to the side. I'm glad no 1 was right behind me, otherwise there would be unavoidable accident. As someone else claimed the wiper arm assembly became disconnected from the wiper motor ( i was able to move them by hand) this should be addressed before someone gets killed.

The wiper blades just stopped working.no wipers at all.wipers just stopped working while driving.as for engine while driving down interstate the car suddenly says switching to low power mode and the car starts going slower- scary when going 70 mph and then slowed down without you doing it yourself

The windshield wipers in my 2010 gmc terrain malfunctioned (stopped working) while driving in heavy rain and traffic on a highway. During the downpour and traveling at approximately 45mph, i switched my wipers to 'high speed' and immediately the wipers halted in the upper left position, failing to move from that point. I experienced a complete lack of visibility and had to maneuver in between cars to get safely to the shoulder. I am very lucky this did not result in injury and/or a wreck. From that point, i needed to wait until the rain stopped as high speed cars passed me on the shoulder, given my wipers would not move - despite the battery/engine/car running appropriately otherwise. From internet research, it appears this is a common (and very dangerous) problem, where the plastic socket (or linkage) of the windshield wipers detaches in high velocity. This part should be recalled - as it has been in canada.

During a down pour while driving on the highway, the wipers stopped working. It appears the plastic bushing either wore out or was faulty.

Driving the vehicle during the heavy rain and noticed that defogging/defrosting of the windshield are not blowing the air on it from dashboard vents.visibility was very limited and have to use towel to clean the windshield so i can see where i'm going.make a stop and noticed that the air is only coming from vents to the floor and front not matter what the control is set to.was lucky to get home safely but do not want to experience this situation again.today drop car at gmc service where their found that mode door actuator is bad causing defogging/defrosting future on the car to be inoperative if it is not replaced.i think that is responsibility of gm to correct this problem for all owners of gmc terrain who experience same problem at no cost to them for their safety and safety of all using public roads.
