Engine was idling rough and stalling. Gmc feels it'soxygenated fuel maybe contaminated. Gmc isn't sure, this was an assumption based onenvironment. Parts are being shipped.

Fuel pump failed.

Fuel tank rusted through, resulting in fuel leakage. Dealer has been notified.

Fuel tank began leaking at front seam where tank is pressed togther due to corrosion.corrosion was further exasberated by lack of drainage holes in plastic fuel tank protective cover which accumulates water and debris.

Debris that falls between truck cab and bed becomes lodged between gas tank and frame and also between tank and rock shield.this debris becomes soaked from rain and snow without any means to flush out or dry out. Resulting in gas tank corrosion and eventual leaks.gm has remedied this situation on the suv family but not on the s10 / s15 class pickups.the current 2000 model pickups still use steel tanks whereas the suv's now have plastic gas tanks.i've reported this to my local gm dealer and the area gm representative to no avail.gm will not honor its 100,000 rust through warrantee nor consider this as a safety defect.one spark with a soaked underside of gasoline and the vehicle could ignite or worse explode.

The fuel tank has been replaced twice because it split open from the bottom. The original fuel tank was replaced in may of 1999. The used fuel tank was replaced in august of 1999. Please provide any further information.

Consumer was driving around and kept smelling gas coming from the vehicle, looked under the vehicle and saw fuel coming from the tank. Saw gas on the ground, and discovered there is a hole on the upper side on the gas tank, and the gas tank started to get rusty. Contacted dealer, and got the vehicle repaired.

Transmission bracket failed.nlm

We are currently having a pressure build-up in the transmission causing the fluid to push throught the dip-stick cap.we are in the process of getting the transmission re-built and are wanting to know if this is a common problem with this make and model or if there is possible a hidden warranty we should find out about.

Cosidering my long experience with the gm product line i am disappointed with the early failures of these components. I specificly contacted gm about the transmission failure received very little support or satisfaction from them.

Retracting seat belt does not work.tt

Feel that the truck is unsafe due to the crack being where that seat bolts down and so near where the seatbelt bolts down. Gmc told me that if it were a hole rusting through the outside of a fender that they would repair the vehicle.since it is the seat falling through the floor, they will not repair the vehicle.any help you could give me would e much appreciated.the lady i spoke with was louri emrich with the gmc consumer assistance center.

Was driving 65 mph's and tried to stop quickly, but not to the point of squeeling brakes and truck refused to stop. I ended up driving through the turn into a grassy, flat medium before stopping. Brakes were initially pressed at 65 and failed immediately and you could feel the anti-lock system working because of the vibration, but that is also when braking ceased. I had a witness in the car and we were fortunate i had experienced this type of behavior before qand was able to take control and steer away from any major obstacles. This has happened is the past in sudden stopping situations on dry land and also in snow and rainor anytime the anti-lock system became activated. I have anti-lock in our 1994 mitzubishi galant and the difference in stopping ability is not even near each other in effectiveness. I'm not sure what my options are but i thought that a recall was generated from this and all gm trucks where the ability to control the vehicle was very minimal under similar circumstances but my dealership said that this was arumor only and no recall had ever been issued. I have talked this over with owners of similar vehicles (gm trucks) and we have all experienced this type of episode. This rumor, by the way, was in printed form in our local newspaper about 6 months ago and i just confronted my dealer just last week again. I know this is a problem and by documenting this complaint in the manner i am currently doing hopefully will act as a documented approach in case of an accident to myself or family member which would allow a lawsuit. I would prefer a safety recall to fix the problem before an accident does occur.

When applying the brakes, pedal goes to the floor causing loss of control. However, driver usually has to swerve of the road to avoid hitting other vehicle.dealer cannot identify problem.

I have been traveling at 40 mph and had to stop suddenly and the abs system has failed several times allowing the truck to continue moving forward on wet and dry surface. Luckily no accident occured, but it is very frighten to not ne able to depend on your brakes when needed.

Abs light would intermittently came on and brakes felt soft and took a long time to stop vehicle.

Brakes failed to stop vehicle. No leaks, pads and shoes look fine.

When applying the abs brakes on wet pavement the brakes become very sensitive and lock up, the pedal nearly travels to the floor , causing extended stopping distance.please give any further details.

Anti-lock braking system has a design defect that causes longer than necessary stopping distances and on some similar models may cause fmvss105 stopping distance failures.the abs system during any 4wd abs event will completely release the rear brakes, and keep brake pressure at zero during the entire stop.normally abs is not activated during fmvss105 compliance testing so the manufactures test results will not show this effect.the increase in stopping distance is unecessary and unsafe.the vehicle also does not have an accelerometer or g-switch for reference velocity in four wheel drive which can cause the abs to allow the wheels to lock at a significant speed and the driver to lose control.

Consumer was traveling on a side road andwent to applybrakes, andabs brake systemdidn't kick in. Therewas snow on the ground.

Abs brakes would fail to stop vehicle when pedal was pressed.problem was intermittent. This resulted inextended stopping distance.

Abs braking system failed, causing loss of control. *sd

Antilock brakes failed 4 times, once causing accident.

Pedal goes to floor without stopping vehicle occasionally.

Brakes are woefully inadequate with or without abs coming into play.i've had numerous incidents where i could not stop this vehicle in a normal stopping distance because of either abs kicking in from a single tire bounce while stopping on uneven road surfaces or when the truck was loaded, such as when hauling heavy material or pulling a loaded trailer.the front disc pads for this truck are exceedingly undersized when compared against a similar weighted sedan (5300lbs) and sedans aren't expected to haul 1/2 ton loads.i have accidentally traveled through intersections trying to stop this vehicle several times.luckily never hitting anyone or getting hit but very disturbed.i understand there are two recall campaign programs slated for this vehicle by gm (99i006000 and 99v193000) but per my dealer gm is several months away from having any parts or corrections for this.

Anti-lock light goes on & brakes go to the floor had it in to the dealer was told nothing was wrong, took it home light came on again & no brakes, twice i almost killed myself. Took it back to dealer they then found the problem, i was told it was hub bearing worn & rubbing on the anti-lock sensor. I do not think that should make my brakes go to the floor. My brakes were in excellent condition. There were no signs of noise or wear on the hub bearings.

Vehicle's abs disengages on bumpy roads or in snowy weather.truck has long and extended stopping distance(ea94-038).tt

Pe94-046 there is poor braking performance of the abs anti- lock brake system . Tt

Vehicle not listed by gmc as being one as defined by nhtsa campain id number: 99v193000. This is per my local gmc dealer. My vehicle's anti-lock brakes do malfunction as defined. On icy/snow covered surfaces and gravel hills the brake pedal will suddenly drop while foot pressure is being applied. The brakes will then lockup unexpectedly. The only way to overcome or prevent this malfunction is to place the vehicle shift lever into four wheel drive before hand. This problem is so widespread there is an aftermarket kit available that allows the gmc owner to bypass the abs system. I know gm owners who have done so because they feel the abs brake system is unsafe. Do you know how many of the 1125749 potential number of units affected were actuallly notified by gmc to have this problem corrected?

The anti-lock brake system failed, which caused theh vehicle to slide into a fence and caused damage to consumer's vehicle.

My pick up has four wheel anti lock brakes. When the brakes are applied on irregular surface the stopping time is greatly extended. When you have one front wheel on a slick surface it slides and the stopping distance is extended. Today i pulled the front wheels on ice and applied the brakes with the back wheels on bare pavement and the stopping time was greatly extended and the front wheels appeared to lock up. I have been told by gmc that they are working on this problem with you and may have a resolution in january. I would hate to have a wreck in the mean time. I have not notice any of these brake problems with my 1999 lhs.

When you apply the brakes they go to the floor vehicle keeps moving brakes are abs.tt

The abs brakes that gmc put on this pickup appear to be miss calibrated or something like that. The brakes appear to work fine at high speeds. It is a different story when you try to stop when the speed drops. Dry pavement with sand on it the stopping distance is extended. The local dealer found an special factory order and replaced the brake brain which didn't change anything. The brake pads on the front are new and the rear shoes are in good shape. When you try to drive on the antifreeze compound the state and city apply to the streets makes it a real challange to even slow down with out front brake lock up. I carry about 400# of weight in the winter to faciltate starting and stopping. Last winter i was coming down a hill very slowly and applied the brakes and front wheel lockup and the back wheels didn't stop but turned slowly leaving tread marks. The rears didn't slide at all as i slide off the road in the a snow bank. I try not to drive the pickup in the winter because i don't want to cause a wreck. Every time i try and stop in the winter it is a thrill. My car has abs and i know how abs should work. This pickup is the greatest truck i have every owned except for the brakes. I do understand that my truck has many miles on it, but it is well maintained. Gmc should be able to come out with a fix for the brakes before somebody is killed. I really don't want to park the truck or junk it. Thank you.

When the brakes are applied the pedal goes to the floor, causing extended stopping distance and a loud noise. The dealer says that it's normal operation.

Poor performance of uniroyal tires.

I have had several firestone tires that have experienced seperation.the local firestone dealer gave several excuses as to why they failed including someone knifed the tires.they told me that i was the only one with this problem.i have had 4 tires blow out while driving at various speeds.i have noticed that the tires will wear thin in the middle very quickly and seperate a short time later. The one time i replaced 2 tires in a 60 day period, both from seperation.the fire hawk tire line needs to be checked into quickly as its white letter style is popular with young drivers who drive fast and are inexperienced. I am currently looking for documention on my tires, they are 14' .please look into this as i beleive there are some very bad tires on the road today.( dot number: )

Fuel systems / emission, causing high idle and engine accleration.tt

I was accelerating from a stop light (going approx 20 mph) when the throttle stuck and quickly surged to red line. I shut off the ignition and coasted to the side of the road. The tachometer was pegged out. I restarted the vehicle and everything seemed fine. This happened once before (~8 years ago) while i was passing another vehicle on a rural highway. During that incident i also shut off the ignition but accidentally locked the steering wheel and ended up in the ditch. It was very difficult to stop the vehicle during that incident because i was going about 60 mph and had no power brakes since the ignition was off. I was unhurt but the vehicle was damaged during that incident. I took the vehicle into a dealer for inspection but they found nothing at that time. I am afraid to drive the vehicle now.

Whenever driving vehicle would suddenly accelerate for no reason. Could stand on brakes & vehicle failed to stop. Vehicle was not controllable. Tried shifting into neutral also failed. Vehicle threw a tie rod into the motor & damagedit. It has be replaced.sudden acceleration happened on26 august,2000 and 23 september 20 00. Took vehicle to different dealers for repair due to not being driveable.

Cruise control failed. Yh

Driving my 1994 sonoma at approx 50 mph on a highway when all of the sudden the gas pedal started to move away from the bottom of my foot and the vehicle began to accelerate on its own (as if the cruise control was taking over). I think that i then tapped the brake and the vehicle went back to normal speed, which was to decelerate as my foot was still off the gas pedal.i do not use cruise control, but cruise control switch was in the on position.i have since switched cruise control to off position and disconnected cruise control module harness, and will leave it disconnected.

Intermittent problem when using windshield wipers. They quit working without warning.luckily, have been able to pull off the road until they decide to work again. This has been happening for about 7 to 8 months. I recently took it to dealer and they replaced the wiper motor control module at a cost to me of $122.00. My mother had a recall on her 1996 chev. Blazer for the same problem. Why is there no recall for the 1994 sonoma?

My winshield wipers stop working and then start working again without warning. This is the same problem that the nhtsa had found and issued a recall for for a truck that is 1 yr younger than mine. Gmc says its not their problem.
