While sitting parked in my driveway with the car in park and the engine idling, the side curtain airbags on my 2014 gmc sierra deployed for no identifiable reason.gm has provided part of the crash detection report data to me.the vehicle event severity status: rollover indicates "yes".the cdr also shows that the vehicle's speed was zero and the engine was at idle (512 rpm).as noted, the vehicle was parked on a level surface and there was no movement of the vehicle other than any movement of the passengers in the vehicle.the vehicle did not roll as is evidenced by the fact that there is no external damage.
My son and i were driving my gmc sierra 2014 to his friends house before we crashed. My son was driving and has his learner's permit, however, had been driving for 4 months. At a fork in the road i told my son quickly to make a right rather than left and we crashed into an improperly grated wall of dirt causing the truck to go from 40 mph to 0 with my son having his seatbelt on, but i did not. Neither airbags deployed and both of us sustained serious injuries. My son broke his nose and i am suffering from a broken nose, concussion and a burst vertebrae. Neither airbags deployed which could've made a huge difference on our injuries.
I was stopped at a red light behind 2 other vehicles. A vehicle from behind struck me at appx 40 mph and rammed me into vehicle in front of me. The cab of my truck filled with a white. "smoke". I was told by both firemen and wrecker driver airbags had activated but not deployed. My wife was with me. Both our seatbelts locked up as they should. Concern is had the airbag deployed it might have helped with back and shoulder injury. Maybe we would not have bounced around as much. I notified gmc and they made a case file but after a week still have not contacted me. Even after numerous voice messages left.
The lights on this vehicle are unsafe in that they only project for a short distance and don't allow any light to the sides on corners or on upslopes of highway dips.
While driving on first snow after truck purchase i tried the 4wheel drive system. When i switched it over the mirrors went down, the seat went back, and the pedals came up. Thankfully i was going slow at the time. It was a very strange feeling and lucky that my wife was not driving at the time.i have an appointment at the dealership to have it looked at.
The headlights on this truck provide inadequate lighting, including both low beams and high beams. Any night driving is difficult due to limited visibility, there simply is not enough illumination to see. Can be very dangerous - especially at speeds above 35 mph or during precipitation. The headlight has a severe design flaw with gms says is a shutter system. This type of design does not leave any options for simply changing the type of bulb - the design is actually at fault for the poor visibility. The visibility problems simply cannot be fixed with a different bulb type due to the shutter design type.the need from a new headlight will solve the problem. Many complaints are being registered online related to the visibility problem. These trucks are not safe to drive at night. If there is a standard for minimum headlight illumination for night time driving, this model headlight needs to be reviewed if it is meeting the minimum standard. Not safe, a definite problem that needs attention.
The vehicles headlights are dangerously ineffective.they rarely illuminate the distance between 2 telephone poles.the ineffectiveness of the headlights is amplified on hills or on any turn.the during the transition from decline to incline, you sometimes have barely a trucks length of illumination.any corner on a dark road requires a severe decrease in travel speed to avoid over driving the lights.i have never driven a vehicle that made me feel more apprehensive to get behind the wheel after dark.i visited the dealer who executed a tsb that increased headlight voltage and replaced the bulbs.it made a negligible improvement and left the vehicle still unsafe at night.i frequently travel on rural roads with no street lights.i have almost hit wildlife too many times to count due to the poor visibility caused by these dangerous headlights.travel over 30 mph on dark country roads with a legal speed limit of 50 is ill advised due to the ineffectiveness of the headlights.
There is a extremely dangerous electrics issue with my 2014 gmc sierra 1500 all terrain. In the last 18 months my truck has locked the steering at low speed while turning 8 times. (i could have easily broken a finger a lost control of my truck) .on 5 of the times i had steering issue the truck had no power to anything including key fobs for a period of 10 to 15 minutes. Then the truck will power up again. Fortunately these issues have occurred at low speed.this has happen 8 times in the last 18 months . It has been to dealership for service regarding this issue they changed the battery after only 18 months (10/2015) the issue occur again 2 days ago while traveling on the freeway at 70 mph my truck shut down no power then in less than a second it powered up again all the setting on my radio, climate control changed.that day i stopped to get gas got back in my truck pulled away from the pump the steering locked truck shut down again for 20 minutes. This truck is currently at a dealership they still can not diagnos the issue. I'm extremly concern that someone could be seriously injured or killed if this was to happen while operating this truck. I did see that may other owner of gmc sierra have expressed similar concerns. The issues needs to be addressed immediately. As for myself i plan to this truck after the dealership attempts another repair.

Also, the engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice. However, the problem was still not resolved.there was a hesitation/lurch coming from the transmission, and an issue with the tire pressure monitoring system. Headlights on this vehicle are terrible. Very poor illumination for night driving.there should be a safety recall for these headlights, pickup is dangerous to drive at night.headlights light up road about 50-60 feet and offer very poor side vision.high beams are useless and shine up in the trees and not on the road.vehicle has projectors with only a flapper to change high/low beam.ihave been driving for 40 years and have never driven a vehicle with this poorheadlight design. I cannot believe headlight passed photometric design certification (maybe they did not) i have complained to gmc but they say headlights are working as designed. Headlight assemblies were replaced once and adjusted several times by dealer.still no remedy to the problem.
Visibility from the vehicles headlights is very poor. I'm afraid to drive at night because lighting is poor.
The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the four doors unlocked independently. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 13,000.

The vehicle had been parked for over three hours at which time it was engulfed in flames.the entire engine compartment consumed by fire.we had taken the vehicle 2 weeks earlier to a dealer to have the recall component replaced but it appears that the problem was not corrected and now we have a vehicle which was only 4 months old as a piece of worthless pile of metal.gm has been slow to react to this issue and has requested that we first have our insurance company look at the vehicle vs. Seem send them one to look at the this.
Brake and then accelerate losses power transmission slips. When trying to merge to freeway i brake and then try to accelerate it looses power transmission slips.
#5 cylinder rocker arm broke took to a dealership in michigan to get repaired. Problems with engine running, before all this happened i was getting 20/22 mpg on the highway which is what i travel mostly, now since this happen i only getting 16/18 mpg on the highway.my dealership in milwaukee worked with an engineer from gm and they claim everything up to spec and won't do anymore on the vehicle but yet something has happened that i have lost about 4/6 mpg highway or $20per tank which with my traveling is a lot of money $400 month. I am very dissatisfied with gm and this vehicle right now when you pay $50,000 + for a vehicle you don't expect to have problems within the first month of purchase (brand new) and then for gm not to find out why the drop in mileage is unacceptable.
I had my truck's ecm reprogrammed last friday (1/17) due to recall #14v007, and earlier this evening (1/24) the check engine light came in and the dic showed an "engine power is reduced" message. The engine ran very sluggish and i parked it as gm recommended to do in their recall letter. This is the second time this has happened now. I thought that the new software was supposed to correct that issue?
Vehicle was purchased new from a dealership.the vehicle is modified and sold commercially under the rmt (rocky mountain truck works) package.the package includes modified suspension and lighting.when accelerating, the transmission fails to shift into a passing gear causing the rpm(s) to exceed 6000 at which point the rev limiter shuts down power to the vehicle until the rpm(s) are back in a safe operating limit.the first time this happened, i was attempting to pass a vehicle on a secondary two lane highway.when i was in the passing lane, i accelerated to overtake the vehicle but the rpm limiter shut down power midway through the passing.with oncoming traffic, and loss of power, it made for a very serious situation.i have contacted the dealership and they have worked on the vehicle multiple times to try and correct without success.they have confirmed that this happening with all the rmt modified vehicles that they have test driven.these vehicles are commercially marketed and it is only a matter of time before someone is not as lucky as i was.

Vehicle hesitates and stalls upon acceleration. According to gm document id number [xxx] this is a normal condition and they have programmed the vehicle to do this. If going into traffic and trying to accelerate, the built in delay can cause close calls at best and worst case an accident. This coupled with the transmission issues mentioned in document id number 3575856 creates the perfect storm for injury and / or death. Gm refuses to address the issue other than to say they feel it is not a problem. This covers virtually all gm vehicles since 2007 with the 6 speed transmission.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I bought my 2014 gmc sierra brand new in dec 2014 and had it back to the dealer within 3 weeks because i was sure there was a defect with the headlights ! you can only see maybe 30 feet in front of you and nothing if you make any turn on a dark road with no streetlights ! the mechanic at the dealership said there was no problem with the lights and they meet all general motors specifications ...i have read many many complaints from other 2014 gmc sierra owners with this same complaint so i know its not my imagination or a problem with my eyesight !! i sure hope that gmc doesn't wait for fatalities or a class action lawsuit before addressing and correcting this problem , i have been a loyal gmc consumer for 45 years but this obvious problem with the lighting and gmc's refusal to acknowledge that there is a design defect i can say this is the last gmc vehicle i will ever purchase . Do the right thing general motors ! fix the problem and save some lives !
I purchased 2014 gmc sierra 1500 on october 20th 2014 at this time it has 1700 miles on it. The first time of maybe 3 times that i drove the vehicle at night i was discouraged with the headlights. I could barely see the roadway and i commented to my fiance that they were terrible and that i was afraid i would hit something. I happened to look for recalls on the internet and noticed that there are many complaints regarding this issue. I am shocked that there has not been anything to correct the problem. I am hesitant to drive it at night. Something needs to be done before someone gets seriously injured.
Headlight are extremely inadequate!!very poor visibility especially on low beam!
The headlights are too dim and are unsafe. In my 50+ years of driving, i have never experienced headlights so bad. I live in a dark rural area without any streetlights and lots of bicyclists and deer. I have already had many near misses on rural roads, and fear it's only a matter of time before an accident happens.
The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra. The contact stated that while driving after dark, the front halogen headlights became dim. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the front headlights needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 700.
The headlights on this truck are unsafe. They do not put out enough light on dark nights and especially on nights were there is rain. They do not reach beyond the edge of the road way past the fog lines,. Or extend that far up the road in front of the truck.
The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the head lamp high beams were turned on, but failed to illuminate adequately. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Headlights are not adequate for suburban or rural areas. Inadequate side-to-side illumination in hi or low. Dealer is unable to fix.
No accident. (yet) headlights are pathetic. Range of vision at night is totally unacceptable. There is no diffusion of light. Only light is on a straight horizontal line. Causes a very tense drivingsituation on any dark road. The lighting on the periphery is virtually non-existent but marginally improved if fog lights are left on all the time. Many complaints have already been filed. Cannot understand why gmc has not been compelled to have a recall to come up with a real solution. It does not appear to be a question of adjusting the current lighting arrangement. This should be a priority recall. Dangerous to drive vehicle at night.
Vehicle has very poor headlights, making it unsafe to drive at night. Headlights are too dim, and do not provide illumination on shoulders of roadway. Probably the worst headlights i have seen in over 20 years. Dealer says nothing can be done to correct problem. Someone needs to step in and force gm to do something about this issue.
Wanted to update info on this complaint. I have been in contact w/dealer and they have agreed to replace both headlights, even though they consider this to be abnormal, with the agreement that if it happens on new headlights they will consider it normal and do nothing more!i feel this is a safety issue as it obscures the light and also that they are trying to bully me into an agreement i don't agree with. My vehicle has a bumper to bumper warranty and they are trying to exclude this issue in the future if i agree to have the headlights replaced now.i have contacted gmc regarding this and have yet to hear back from them.
This is my first time to have a vehicle with projector headlights. They do not light up the sides of road, and are not very bright in dim or high beam. This is not very safe when driving at night, even when the weather is good. I will not buy another vehicle with these type of headlights.
Headlights are insufficient. Driving at night away from the city is dangerous. Brighter and wider light patterns are needed.
This vehicle has the worst headlights of any new vehicle i've ever owned. It seems dangerous to drive at night, and i avoid it where i can. The beam pattern is awful and the illumination is poor. I've been driving cars with projector headlights for years, so i know that is not the real issue. These lights are just poorly designed or cheap. Trips to the dealer are unfruitful. The dealer knows they are poor, but can do nothing except be sure everything is properly adjusted. If you are looking at buying a 2014 gmc pickup, buy something else. They are that bad. I just know i'm going to hit a deer soon enough.
It was the first time i drove this new gmc at night and i couldn't see anything almost hit a huge moose cause i didn't see it. The headlights are awful and its terrifying to drive at night. Went to dealer and told them about the headlights they said they had numerous complaints but gm has no fix. These headlights are going to cause multiple accidents simply driving 45 mph feels like you can out run the headlights in high beam.
There is already a technical service bulletin on this matter however i feel it is serious enough to be a recall. While driving at night in unlighted areas the bright lights leave serious dark areas especially if you are travelling on curvy roads. If you encounter a pedestrian or other object in the road in these areas they cannot be seen until its possibly too late. The manufacturer will only do the repair if you complain about it and its still under warranty. I believe this should be recalled and repaired before someone is hurt or killed.
Headlights are a safety issue with this truck. Can not see the sides of the road and the roadway is very dim.i have contacted gm many times with no answer to the problem. One time they said, turn on the fog lights when you are about to turn a corner.
Purchased this vehicle july 2013.the headlights are extremely inadequate and a hazard to driving.the inadequate lighting has caused me to run off the road on more than one occasion due to the extreme curvature of the road and the lack of adequate lighting to see the curve ahead.the headlights also do not afford you time to see road hazards in the roadway.gm needs to design a fix for this dangerous defect.the
My complaint is with the how dim the oem headlights are.i have complained to gmc regarding the headlights and the response is that they are ok with how dim the lights are.compared to other vehicles i own/have owned the headlights are extremely dim to the point of being dangerous.
Headlights on high beam were aimed to high & pointed up into the trees. Low beams seemed ok.i finally took to a local dealer for some recalls and talked to them about complaints and they adjusted saying the lights were aimed to high.drove vehicle yesterday and the low beams now have so little projection forward that i'm afraid at night, if anything came in front of me, i'd hit it before being able to stop.will be taking it back to have lights adjusted up again and live with it until gmc does something.reason it has taken so long to file complaint is i do not drive much at nights and did not think of filing complaint until i found this website and reading other owners having the same problem.
Headlights are very dim. Like having none at all.high beams are useless. I actually had to follow other vehicles lights to keep from running off the road.

Worst headlight for a new vehicle. I have owned various gm trucks from 1967 to 2014. Never have i owned a truck with such worthless headlights like the projector beam headlights on my 2014 gmc sierra 1500 with the all terrain package. The projector headlight are very dim and do not light the road more than 30 feet ahead. At highway speeds (55-70) the projector headlights are only lighting a half second ahead of you. Additionally there is no lighting to illuminate the shoulder at all.. You must drive full time with the fog lamps on to have a small increase in lighting. When using the high beams there is very little effect on visibility. Extremely disappointed in the 2014 gmc sierra. And will unlikely purchase another gm product in the future. At a msrp of over 50 grand i would expect a truck to have adequate headlight to light the road. Without the aftermarket cost to install better lighting the 2014 gmc sierra is very unsafe to operate at night.
The front headlights are insufficient for safety. They do not light the road sufficient to see objects in road above a speed of 50 mph. These are single bulb projector headlights and my old 2001 chevy silverado has much better lights. Gmc should replace the lights with dual beam lights or add on a supplemental light system.
Purchased my 2014 gmc sierra november of 2013. Currently i'm on my 9th recall notice.more importantly the lighting on my front headlights are the most unsafe lighting at nighti have ever encountered.the high beams are use less.paid $43,000 for my truck. You wouldthink their lighting would be top notch.the bad thing about this is no one has been hurt so gmc isn't expressing any concerns about this major flaw. This should be a major recall were proper lighting is put in. Nothing will be done till someone gets into a accident or dies from injuriesfrom lack of lighting.
The headlights on this vehicle are horrible. Driving on roads with no street lights is dangerous. The high beams do nothing at all except light up tree tops.
I wish to complain about the headlights on this vehicle. They are really terrible. Low beam does not project far enough, and high beam seems to illuminate road signs at a distance, but not adequate for their purpose.seems as they are more of a spotlight than a headlight.these are the most unsafe headlights i have ever had in 43 years of driving. Again, there was no accident thankfully, and i just wish to file my complaint and concern. Thank you.

I purchased a 2014 gmc sierra in november of 2014 and the headlights on our truck give you very limited visibility, it is unsafe to drive at night with high beams or low beams, i use my fog lights to help me see better but they do not help much on distance.i traded in a 2013 silverado that had awesome headlights for this truck and raised my payment 300$ only to have a truck that i cant drive at night. Something needs to be done about this.i have read many complaints on this issue and feel that gm needs to correct it as soon as possible before a serious accident happens.
Headlights are not adequate for night driving: have driven this truck for the past year at night and in different types of weather and have had to really strain my eyes to keep it on the road due to poor visibility due to the head lights, after missing a turn last nightoff the highwaydecided to see if the dealership would take a look at them and see what they could do ,if they say there is nothing that they can do ,ill have no choice but to install different headlights .
The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the headlights were very dim and impaired the vision to see the road. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle had not been diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 58. Updated 04/13/15*ljthe consumer stated the vehicle was repaired according to bulletin pit5374.this required a bulb replacement and bcm reflash. Updated 10/30/2015
The headlights are very poor.i have owned many cars and the lack of night vision with the 2014 sierra is the worst of any car i have ever driven.i used to work on my family farm back in the 1980s and our old tractors and combines had better night visibility than my brand new sierra.gmc, you must fix this now!i guarantee you will have a major lawsuit on your hands if you don't.this is such a simple thing to get right, do the right thing and recall all these vehicles and install proper headlights.
The original headlights are too dim when in the low beam state. High beams are slightly better. A brighter color would be a great improvement.
2014 gmc sierra.consumer writes in regards to vehicle headlight problems.the consumer stated when he made turns, there was not sufficient lighting. The dealer stated the head lights were four inches too high, so they adjusted them. Upon driving at night, he found the lighting to the side had slightly improved, but the light was sharply cut off about 45 feet in front of the truck on when the low beams were on, which made it unsafe to drive over 35 mph. The high beams gave good lighting at distances, but brought flashed from oncoming traffic. The second head light adjustment extended the lighting out about 20 inches further, but less lighting to the sides for turning.the head lights were adjusted again and the technician stated the lights were at the level from the factory.the consumer stated the head lights were not adequate in his opinion.
Headlights in normal operation situation are woefully short of illumination distance and easy to overdrive at highway speeds. High beams and fog lights are more adequate, however high beams cannot be used in traffic and fog lights tend to irritate oncoming drivers on highways in smaller vehicles.
The headlamps are totally inadequate for night driving thus producing a very significant safety issue . There is zero lighting on both sides on low beam and very poor down road vision on highbeam. There are many complaints on line and they are all with the same issues. It has to do with the cheap one bulb lens system with a shutter on the lens. Have complained to dealer who acknowledged there is a problem and to gm who refuses to acknowledge there is a problem . Gm response to me was the lamps work as designed and i responded that is exactly the problem, the design which produces very dangerous driving conditions.
The front projector headlamps do not put out enough light to safely drive on unlit roads at highway speeds. There is also little light projected to the side making turns unlit. I recently had a near hit with a pedestrian on an unlit street because of no side lighting when making a slow turn. There are no higher lumen replacement bulbs available.
The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra.the contact stated that the headlights did not project going down a hill and turning on a curve.the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who stated that the headlights were designed that way.the manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
The highlights on the 2014 sierra sle are a hazard to try to drive with at night only light up 30-40 feet in front of the vehiclei get more light from the fog lamps to see by
Can not see the road with the light output with these factory headlight
Today for the first time i drove my 2014 sierra texas edition in the rain at night....wow>>>>>i had to stop and wait for the rain downpour to let out so i could see where i was going. Not good.driving at night is very stressfull and eye straining to the point of taking headache medications once you are done driving.any wayt to fix this extremely dangerous problem?this should be considered a safety hazard to drivers and any others on the road. This issue needs to be addressed and resolved asap. And gm still says there is nothing wrong.so why are they changing the desing on the 2016's trucks
The headlights on this truck provide inadequate lighting, including both low beams and high beams.any night driving is difficult due to limited visibility, there simply is not enough illumination to see.can be very dangerous - especially at speeds above 35 mph or during precipitation.the headlight has a severe design flaw with gms approach at a shutter system.this type of design does not leave any options for simply changing the type of bulb - the design is actually at fault for the poor visibility.the visibility problems simply cannot be fixed with a different bulb type due to the shutter design type.many complaints are being registered online related to the visibility problem.these trucks are not safe to drive at night.if there is a standard for minimum headlight illumination for night time driving, this model headlight needs to be reviewed if it is meeting the minimum standard.not safe, a definite problem that needs attention.
The headlight performance on this truck is the worst i've seen in any vehicle, but for a truck, i cannot believe they are allowed on the road at night.the owner's manual states they are factory set and do not need adjustment.that information was obviously not checked during the quality check or checked but felt it was as good as it gets.on high beam, the driver's side light is pointing so far up, it's in the trees and above the road.the right side high and low beams are inadequate for all purposes, especially seeing around curves and turns.you are literally blind on a dark street, even with the fog lights.very poor illumination of the road.i've taken it in to the dealer for adjustment and they did not change anything.this will be the last gm product i buy since it seems the last three vehicles i've owned had issues that could not be resolved.and i am a member of the gm family.for the price of these vehicles, they should be top quality.gm should be ashamed of the quality they deliver to customers for vehicles priced over $45k.
The headlight output on my new 2014 gmc sierra is so bad that i cannot drive the vehicle safely at night. In fact, i only drive it unless it is absolutely necessary. Not only are the lights very dim but the shape of the beam is also very poor and awkward . With the current oem headlight equipment, this vehicle is unsafe to operate at night. I contacted the dealer and they told me there was nothing they could do about it .i can't even find a better bulb because gm has the patent and not even piaa can make a better bulb.
Bought vehicle new in march '14,headlights are hid units, and are worse than poor.very easy to overdrive these lights here on dark, twisty mountain roads in wv. We have the highest rate of vehicle- deer collisions in the us and seeing deer with these lights in time to avoid a collision is chancy.traded a 10 year old same make and model and never had these problems.these lights need to be corrected before folks are killed as a result.
Poor lighting with headlights.can barely see what is ahead at night.seems like this could be very dangerous, and i feel unsafe driving at night, especially in the rain.turning on fog lights helps a little, but you shouldn't have to constantly run them.bright lights don't help much either.
I purchase this vehicle nov. 2013, and ever since i notice that the headlight on this vehicle do not light the road properly, whether you have them in low or high beam. The distance of the low and high beam appear to be the same (at times it seems the highs) are aiming skyward. Not to long ago i almost ran over a woman and a child who were crossing a street over to my left when i was attempting to make a left turn (this was a dark area). Luckily i was going slow when i was making the turn and was able to see them when the headlights hit them and came into view. By this statement i am trying to point out that there no lighting to either side of the vehicle, i am sure (positive) that if i would have been making a right turn an accident would have happen. Are there any recalls regarding this problem?if not, i think there should one. Because if something like this example i am submitting to you ever happens, the driver will held responsible. An in my case it will be blamed due to my age.
Headlight output is horrible at night time driving on the highway. It is flat out dangerous.the headlights are only adequate for city driving at night.
The projector headlights on this vehicle are terrible.they are dim and have a very poor light pattern.(the bulb presumably meets federal standards, but the projector system was designed for a brighter bulb).it is very difficult to see the sides of the road, or very far down the road, on roads where there are no streetlights.it is even worse on a rainy, dark road.gm instituted a tsb (#pit5374, attached) in february 2015 which involves reprogramming the body control module (bcm) to increase the voltage to the headlight bulbs and substituting vosla hir 55 watt bulbs for the original stock 55 watt bulbs.the results are a minimal improvement.the new 2016 models have the same headlight design but have been upgraded to a hid bulb that cannot just be plugged into the 2014/15 headlights.the improved bulb and wiring is evidence the tsb did not really improve the lighting very much.(the internet is full of complaints about the headlights on this vehicle; recommend you google "gmc sierra headlights" and see what you get!). I live in northern virginia and would be glad to come down to the nhtsa building on a dark, rainy night and give you a ride -- the problem isn't so bad in areas where there are streetlights, but it is terrible out in the country.bottom line, gm should be directed to issue a recall that involves replacing the wiring harness and bulb with their latest design.the headlights in the 2014/2014 sierra are hazardous to the people in the truck and to pedestrians along the road. Thanks for listening to my complaint, and please take action for safety's sake.(note: there is no specific time, mileage, mph, etc., that this was noted.it is continual.i had the tsb performed in the summer of 2015 and noted minimal improvement at that time.)
Headlights appeared to be leaking, condensation and water droplets. Took to dealer for oil change and advised them of the headlight issue. Was told they were not leaking that the design of headlights caused this, bulbs burn so hot they have a vent for cooling. Because of the air flow through vent it brings in condensation & water droplets can form which can take 2 to 6 hours to clear! was told that they w/only replace headlight assembly, which costs $900,if its over 50% of the lens. I was told one headlight was over 50% and had water droplets, as well as a halo effect around the bulb that he had never seen before. However, dealer did nothing at the time as the lens was clearing up. I asked about the condensation obscuring the light output and therefore my vision and was told it would not affect it. After reading the other complaints regarding the headlights i feel this may be part of the problem.if the lens is covered inside w/condensation & water droplets, it does affect the light output.i live in the pacific nw where it rains 9 months out of the year and therefore we have moisture in the air all the time! i am now documenting the condensation w/pictures of the headlights every time i drive it...updated 12/30/14the consumer stated the condensation was in the form of fog. Updated 01/12/15
The headlight output at night, particularly in rural back road areas is less than adequate.poor really.i originally had moisture issues in both headlamp housings, had both headlamp housings replaced and the lighting seemed to be better, however not very much.the headlights seem to have dark spots in them and only light up certain parts of the road in front of me, and never much to the side of the roadway.i feel this is by far the worst lighting output of any vehicle i have ever owned, and actually feel a little unsafe driving at night.i most definitely cannot travel at higher speeds during the night as i feel like i cannot see nearly good enough.i have simply "dealt" with the issue since buying the truck in december 2013, thinking there was no fix to it and the dealership said they have not heard of this issue before.
The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierrathe contact stated that while driving at various speeds at night, the low beams and high beams were extremely dim when they were activated.the failure recurred continuously. The contact stated that the vehicle could not be driven at night. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The headlights in the vehicle are very dim. They have a projector light in them and only have one bulb, they projector moves when switching back and forth between bright and dims. The problem is there's one little yellow circle out in front of the truck about 30 feet, the brights do absolutely nothing, and there is no lighting to the sides of the truck. There is no light on the curb and making a turn is not only difficult but also unsafe. The vehicle has been in 3 times to fix this issue and they have done nothing to help. I read online that there is an update that sends more voltage to the headlights but they also know nothing about that. The last time they said they wouldn't even align the lights because i had put aftermarket bulbs in just to be able to see. The fog lights are twice as bright as the headlight, i've told them that, called their customer service number, told them that, and they don't seem to care. I see online that it is a common complaint and something needs to be done about it. Also the ones like mine with the vibrating safety seat get loose, also a common complaint, and they won't cover it under warranty or recall.
The contact owns 2014 gmc sierra. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, the headlights were dim and impaired the contacts vision of the road. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20.
Headlights are so dim you can not see street signs or the sides of the road clearly.
The vehicle lights are very dim even with the high beams on. While driving at night can barely see in front of me. These are a hazard to me and others, since not being able to see a good distance in front of the vehicle makes hard to see pedestrians, animals or debris in the road at night.
I have two 2014 gmc sierras with very weak headlights. Called gm and they said nobody has complained. They lied. Wake up gm and smell the roses before someone is hurt or killed. The headlights look great but work bad. Feel like it will be forever before they do anything so i added my own aux. Lights. Myi can see again. Spent 400.00 dollars on 45,000 dollar truck so i can drive safety at night. 2014 chevys have duel headlights. Must be better. Fix the problem gm. My first car, a 1962 comet had better lights.
After purchasing our new truck, we drove it for the first time after dark on our rural country roads. When engaging the dim lights you can not see more than 20 to 30 yards in front of your vehicle. My husband has done extensive research on this problem since we discovered it and found hundreds of complaints.when engaging the bright lights they appear to shine the distance that the dim lights should. We feel that this is a serious engineering flaw in the gm lighting system on their gmc trucks. He has discovered that they have installed a projector light with a curtain or shutter in this lighting system. We have had them adjusted once by the dealership and they made it worse not better. We have been told that until gm is made to change the lighting system and remove this curtain/shutter system that we are stuck with this. Our only alternative seems to be to drive with our bright lights on at all times after dark in rural areas. We feel that this is a very dangerous situation and at some point in time there is going to be a serious if not fatal accident due to this problem. We are hoping that you will investigate this matter and take action as soon as possible.
The headlights are so good, they helped to save the life of several deer which i could clearly see up ahead, just above the crest of the road. The deer started to dash across the road, which was not lit, and i could clearly see them and properly steered clear of the deer. The headlights on this truck are the best i have ever had !! i find the 2014 gmc sierra as the most well equipped vehicle i have ever driven. My complaint is not really about the lights or how well i could see the deer on the side of the road, it's about the need for other brands of vehicles that are not equipped with these type of headlights. I believe this type of headlight system should be mandatory on all vehicles of all makes. Gmc has done the world a favor. Now it is up to the rest to catch up and use this technology!

The truck was averaging about 20 mpg but shifting erratically like it couldn't decide what gear to be in. After using the 4wd the first time the mpg dropped off to about 17 and has been declining steadily currently i get 14 to 15 mpg and drive 150 miles per day mostly highway. I have taken it back to the dealer twice they said the computer couldn't get used to my driving style and reprogrammed the computer. When i took it back about the mileage a guy came out and said he could tell if something was stuck and switched the 4wd a few time and said it was fine. My mpg is getting worse and it slams in and out of gear 2-3 times in a matter of seconds while sustaining a steady highway speed on a flat surface.

Driving down the road aprox 45- 50 mph transmission kicked into neutral causing vehicle to slow down suddenly ,almost got rear ended due to sudden slow down . No where to pull over , after letting off the gas kicked into gear and got it home.
I have had my truck back the dealership 8 times for the same problem a vibration that you can feel in the seat steering wheel and gas pedal, they have had the factory engineers out three time and looked and worked on it, first time the engineer did a couple of things and said that it was up to factory specs and that was all he could do, i drove it home and before i was a block away i could tell that they did not fix it, when i got home i called the dealer back and told him so he called gm and the next week they sent out the same guy and this time he worked on 5 or 6 other things that he did not work on the first time after telling me they did all they could do the first time. Right there tells you they are lying if there was nothing they could do why come back and work on it again! but after he got done it was just like it was, i will try to list some of the stuff that they said they did, 1) rotated the tires 2) re-torque the wheels 3) balanced the tires 4) balanced the drive shaft 5) shimmied the rear end 6) checked the rear shocks 7) took off dealer installed mud flaps! 8) checked the exhaust system, i know but they did 9) road forced tested the tires twice and replaced two the second time and re-balanced the tires. And i'm sure i have not listed all they have tried, and still i have the same problem, third time the engineer came out he had the regional manager with him and this time they drove my truck and 2 others they had on the lot and said that they are similar to mine and they was not going to do any more to my truck that they had done all they could or would do but if i had any other problems to bring it back.

2014 gmc sierra 1500 rolls backwards when parked on an incline and the transmission is in park.
Brake and then accelerate losses power transmission slips. When trying to merge to freeway i brake and then try to accelerate it looses power transmission slips.

My vehicle started with a vibration on or around 12,000 miles. The vibration slowly increased as time went on. I made appointment with the dealership where the vehicle was purchased.(capitaland motors)at this time the vibration was strong enough to vibrate the back window. It would start at 30mph and get worse at 45mph. The mechanic checked balance and road force the tires. But told me that the vibration was normal and he could fix my back window. I called gmc and filed a complaint. They told me to take it to another dealership. I did on 11/25/14.this time i took it to goldstein buick-gmc. They could feel the vibration in the steering wheel and seat.they check tires again. They felt it was the tires and wanted me to buy new ones. Told me the tires were not under warranty.that day i called goodyear and found out my tires were under warranty, they would be prorated. I have a 2014 gmc sierra slt with power seats.the driver's seat is loose (not the same issue that was recently recalled with manually reclining seats).when you make a sharp turn at speed the drivers seat slides left or right depending on the direction you are turning. There are numerous complaints identical to this one on the forums online and gm claims they have no solution and to speak with the local dealer.my local dealer does not now know what to do and says they cannot fix it. This is a very dangerous situation and could cause an accident! please have gm fix it or issue a recall!

Ignition steering key lock sounds like it's breaking during the tine you turn the steering wheel to unlock kit when stopped. This has happened more than once

When we took our new truck for a test drive we noticed a vibration. The dealership supposedly checked it out and took care of it. When took delivery of the truck and drove it home the vibration was better at a slower speed but increased as the speed increased. We returned the truck to the dealership and they checked it out and said that they balanced the tires and rotated the driveshaft 180 degrees. It seem to be a little better. Because we take this truck to florida for the winter and it is loaded my husband decided that he would put some weight in the back of it to see how it would affect it. The vibration was better at a slower speed and worse at a high speed on the highway. The truck has now been back at the dealership for a week and we have not heard anything in regards to it. They are supposed to be doing an electronic vibration analysis on it. My husband has researched this problem on the internet and there seems to be a lot of complaints about this problem. Hopefully people are registering them on your website.
The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra. The contact stated that the vehicle was designed with large holes in the grill. While driving various speeds, weeds would enter the grill and accumulate near the radiator. As a result, the vehicle overheated. The dealer stated that the vehicle was designed in that fashion. No repairs were made and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 10.updated 8/22/14
The factory installed running boards are unsafe. The treads need to be larger, more aggressive and rotated 90^. As they are they are simply skid pads when wet or frozen. You simply need to try and enter or exit the vehicle and see how easily your foot sides off causing the person the fall. I have taken several slips/falls. Today i hit the back of my head on the door jam. Just rotating the tread ninety degrees would help.
While on vacation i bought a 2014 sierra denali that was previously driven by a gm executive and bought by the dealership in w.va. After coming home i looked underneath and saw that the frame and driveshaft were covered in rust. Have read other complaints on the internet about this same problem with this year and model truck.

In january while washing undercarriage i noticed the coating on the frame is completely coming off the frame with just the spray of garden hose.i notified the service department at upstate chevrolet in attica at my last service march 16 2015. Regarding 2014 gmc sierra 6 cylinder full size pickup.vehicle vibrates as if running over rumble strips at apx 1500 rpm.local gm service center and gm corporate representative stated above is normal vehicle operation.local gm service center correctly suggested that truck be driven faster or slower to prevent vibration or that vehicle be driven in 5th gear rather than overdrive 6th gear to prevent vibration.if vehicle is nor driven faster or slower to get out of vibration range, the truck will vibrate endlessly. 2014 gmc sierra is an unsafe vehicle. Needing to speed up or slow down to prevent vibration significantly increases risk for mva. Needing to drive in 5th gear rather than 6th gear reduces gas mileage as reported to nhsta. Local mechanics have commented that the above vibration complaint is common to 20146 cylindergmc/chevy full size pickup trucks and that the vibration may be secondary to cylinder deactivation and chassis rigidity.it certainly wound be a shame for a collision to occur or for a pedestrian to get run over by a driver of a 2014 gmc/chevy full size pickup who had to speed up or slow down to reduce excessive vibration at apx 1500 rpm

I have a 2014 gmc sierra 1500 crew cab. The vehicle has a vibration above 40 mph since i purchased the vehicle new in july 2013. However, the problem was still not resolved.there was a hesitation/lurch coming from the transmission, and an issue with the tire pressure monitoring system. The instrument panel malfunctioned on the way back from the dealer.the check engine light, illuminated sporadically. Updated 07/10/14the consumer stated there was a steering issue, as well.the dealer was unable to replicate the problems. Updated 08/06/14
On 12/12/14, my husband came home at approximately 2:00 pm and approximately an hour the garage was on fire and fire appears to have started in the truck.gm came out and investigated with usaa but since there is nothing left of the truck the cause is undetermined. The entire house is a total loss.there is no roof left to truck.gm trying to blame on a refridgerator cord or cord in workshop or sprinkling system.
The factory supplied running boards have treads that fail to provide any traction for feet while entering or exiting. The treads need to be rotated 90 degrees and made of a softer rubber with a deeper and more aggressive tread pattern. As they exist they are very slippery especially when wet or frozen. Given the added height of trucks it requires some use of the running boards to enter/exit the truck. Especially when you are 68. As designed and manufactured they are actually an accelerant in slipping feet. I feel they are of defective design and manufacture and could/should be made safer.i fell three times in the past months while exiting my sierra 1500.
The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was working up to specifications. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.
Visibility from the vehicles headlights is very poor. I'm afraid to drive at night because lighting is poor.
