Both part numbers152974468 (front frame mounted crash sensors) failed within 2 weeks of each other on my 2008 gmc sierra pickup truck. They are supposed to be hermetically sealed units but both show signs of water intrusion, corrosion and swelling. When these fail the sir system is shut off. I have photographs of the parts if you would wish to see them.updated 5/8/2015

My sierra has the same problem that many other gm vehicles have. The dash is cracking, creating loose pieces. It is cracked at the airbag. This sharp edges could impair the proper function of the airbag. In the event of an accident, i am afraid the loose dash pieces could post a danger to the vehicles occupants.

Warning light came on about air bag, took to gmc dealer as gmc had no recall on this warning gmc dealer ran test determined the passenger air bag sensor had corroded and i had to replace it and it was not cov by warranty, so pd 317.00 to have replaced. Something this important in the vehicle should have been recalled and sensor moved to other location as it was corroded from weather? gmc dealer told me 2 things could happen if i didn't get it fixed, could go off randomly or would not deploy if in accident therefore both of which could have caused fatality if happened in operation. Would like complaint filed as i will not get my money back, but gmc needs to be aware of this in this year truck. Maybe save some lives if it is recalled and moved to where weather cant get to it. Gmc customer service was of no help in getting this replaced or even a report made of this incident, i had this replaced in oct. 2013 and was terrified everyday driving it that it would go off, and cause me an accident, and dealer advised me that i had 2 of these bags, so at least they (sensor) did not go bad at the same time...this was a lot of money to me to have this fixed plus the 39.00 to have them run computer test on it. Needs to prob be a recall on this part, and relocation of where the sensors are. Thanks

The safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants.i just had a phone conversation with someone over at gm and they are going to contact the dealership regarding this issue. I explained to them this is a major safety concern. The cracks in the dashboard around the passenger side airbag compartment could compromise the integrity and deployment of the airbag and potentiality, cause greater injury to the passenger(s) in the event of an accident. I also noted to gm that my case is not an isolated incident, and that there are numerous forums and this facebook page where gm vehicle owners have posted pictures of defective dashboards all with similarities, showing cracks in the same general areas, many of whom have been expressing safety concerns regarding this dashboard design flaw.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra. The contact stated that the recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 15v324000 (air bags) was received in june of 2015. After contacting the dealer and the manufacturer on multiple occasions, the contact was informed that the parts needed to repair the vehicle were still not available and no estimated time for receiving the parts could be given. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Placed truck in park, while running, service air bag light comes on. Goes on and off for two days. On second day loose both low beams will not turn on. Went out at the same time.switch does nothing, running lights work, high beams work, fog lights.

The dashboard is cracking due to a design flaw around the passenger airbag which can cause the airbag to tear and or fail to deploy properly in a accident. In researching this subject on the internet i came to find out that this is a common issue in all gmc and chevrolet light duty trucks from 2007-2012.

I start my truck one nice summer day and my "service air bag" light came on, strange i thought, since my 2008 sierra 1500 only has 57,xxx miles on it. . no accident, no prior issues, not even inclement weather when the light came on. Took it to the dealer to have it diagnosed. The diagnostic cost was $132.93, and that was to just for plugging in the tech 2 scan tool and running the sir air bag diagnostic test. I was not thrilled about it.problem turned out to be a failure of the front left air bag sensor. The dealer said "oh we have one in stock at out other location, we can get it shipped over, and it would cost $550 but we could have the truck back to you later this evening." how does one of these just fail? if its due to corrosion shouldn't gm pick up the tab on that? this safety component is what senses impact then causes the airbag to actually deploy and this part just randomly fails? how is that acceptable for any manufacturer, if there is a corrosion issue, find a means to prevent further failures and cover the cost of replacement for those that do fail. For a gmc truck that uses the phrase "we are professional grade" as the backbone for their products, why would they use parts that fail so easily? since some of their trucks used to be be assembled in wisconsin, and their head quarters is in detroit, michigan, it's very hard to overlook the fact that these places are not kind to vehicles. So why is it that a very important safety system, the supplemental restraint system,a key component can fail so easily, and there is nothing being done to correct it?

On october 15, 2013, approx 7:45 am, single occupant, was entering the exit ramp from freeway when truck crashedand rolled twice.the air bags did not deploy.truck was completely totaled.occupant required medical transport to hospital and was kept for a week for testing and treatment for injuries.county sheriff attended to crash site and submitted traffic report. With all the recent recalls of gm products - like in other crashes, the air bags did not deploy. Ignition.

Dash is cracked at passenger airbag. I have concerns about sharp plastic during airbag deployment causing serious injury.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v052000 (air bags) the vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the recall was serviced; but, a week later the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or independent mechanic to have it diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 159,398.

My 2008 gmc dash is cracked in two places above the passenger side air bag.after searching on the internet this crack(s) are a chronic defect in the 07/08 general motors trucks and suv's. No reason for these cracks, no impact, etc... There is a common concern the owners share that this defect could impact the deployment of the air bag in the event of a crash.

Driver side air bag exploded. The bag itself did not deploy. Just a loud explosion filling the cab with black smoke. Violent blast of air/smoke against the driver. Would have been very serious if not driving at low speed on a side road at the time.

On sept. 28th about 1pm i was traveling on a dirt road when i approached some pot holes. The day was sunny and dry and i went to apply my brake but as i hit the brakes to slow down i hit the first couple and my side impact air bags deployed. I took it into the dealer and they advised that the computer advised it was in a roll and deployed the side impact air bags and also they advised the computer sensed there was someone in the passangers seat when there wasn't so maybe the seat sensors a bit sensitive. It was evident i wasn't in a roll and they referred me to gm customer service who took my infomration and sent a 3rd party i believe raytheon to do an inspection. I called gm yesterday and they advised they received the results and per their engineers and the data they pulled they determined that the pot holes that i had hit (which were not large) were large enough to tell the computer that i had lost stability and to deploy the air bags. With that they determined that the systems were functioning properly and that they were not liable for any issues or costs. I had spoken with joe the supervisor and i had asked him that when i get this fixed am i to be leary of pot holes in the future that it might set them off again and he directly answered that that is a possibility that if the computer senses that the truck has lost stability that they will deploy again. Again he advised everything was functioning properly. At this point i have to get my truck fixed but i'm don't feel safe driving it as if this had happened at freeway speeds i could have lost control of the vehicle. I did see another safety review that i believe had a nhtsa review # 10205258 which appears just like my incident but that one for a 2007 gmc yukon. Gm advised that the repairs would cost $2700 and if it happened again i would again be liable for the cost even though in my mind it's a design or eng. Flaw.

My vehicle air bag sensors have been diagnosed as faulty.the dealership indicated that both front air bag sensors are part of a known problem where the factory tightened the bolts too far making the sensors prone to crack and collect moisture.this moisture then freezes and the sensors need to be replaced.this repair is very costly at over $200 per sensor and both sensors need replaced.this doesn't include labor.this is definitely a safety issue and i don't know if the air bags will function properly if an accident were to happen.this seems to be an item that should be recalled.

Erratic door lock behavior. Passenger and rear driver side door will not lock or unlock consistently. The passenger side lock not locking resulted in the theft of a handgun from my vehicle. This deficiency leaves the vehicle susceptible to theft, carjacking, doors coming open on impact. Passengers, especially children are at risk of opening the vehicle door while in motion. In the event of an emergency the doors effected can not be unlocked from other than the manual latch button to aid passengers.

My 2008 gmc sierra denali's automatic locks have failed on three of the four doors.i didn't realize they were not engaging until i took two children to dinner and had one of them open the door without unlocking the door.i had the child safety locks engaged and thought i would be safe, but it turns out the locks never engaged (thus, making the child locks irrelevant).this is an issue beyond inconvenience.

On the morning of april 11 we had a severe thunderstorm at approx.3:00am. Later in the morning at approximately 6:30am i found my 2008 sierra truck running in my garage with the garage doors shut. The headlights were flashing and the garage was extremely hot due to the engine running. There was a lot of water condensation on the floor indicating that the engine had been running for quite some time. The temperature gauge was at running temperature. My keys were in the ignition so i opened the garage to air out the carbon monoxide and took my wife's keys and tried to stop it remotely but it would not stop. A few minutes later i went outside and came in thru the garage door trying not to breath the fumes. By then the truck was not running. I found the check engine light on. When i touched the key in the ignition the check engine light went out. The seat presets were messed up and the clock was several hours off. There was absolutely no way the truck was remote started. Even if it was it should only run for 10 minutes. This was a very serious and dangerous situation! continuing on with a similar situation a year ago, there was a severe thunderstorm coming thru. Our neighbors had come to our house during the warning since we had a basement. We were all standing in the garage with the garage door open and our 2010 gmc yukon started up like someone turned on the ignition. There were no keys in the ignition. The electrical storm was on-going when this happened. We saw our neighbor leave in her yukon so we thought maybe she remote started hers so i followed up with her to see if she had remoted started her car and she had not. She tried to remote start her car and it did not affect ours whatsoever. It appears that both incidents seem to be storm related. It is a very serious and dangerous situation knowingthis could happen while we were asleep or away for a few days.

Purchased my 2008 gmc sierra truck in november 2015 after having for only 5 months driver side door lock will only lock or unlock sometime, making it unsafe if you needed to exit quickly due to accident or fire. Seen many other post about same problem. Should be a recall on this.

This is not an official complaint however as the ignition problem unfolds with the gm products i wanted to take the opportunity to bring to the attention a very serious problem that occurred approximately a year or so ago with my 2008 gmc sierra. I typically park my truck in the garage with the key in the ignition. We have a live camera in the garage and one morning around 7 am after a severe thunderstorm around 3 am i found on the camera the truck running with flashing headlights. I went to garage immediately and was hit with very high heat due to the truck running. With the carbon monoxide potential i did not go into the garage. I got my wife's keys and tried a "remote stop" and the headlights stopped flashing but the engine continued to run. I open both garage doors and went outside so i could enter the garage from the outside. I opened the truck door and barely touched the key in the ignition and the truck shut off. It was not turned on! without a doubt it had been running about four hours since the storm. I contacted gm and was told to take it to the local dealer. After telling the dealer the story they basically laughed at me and said that i would have to bring it in when the next storm came thru. They later run a diagnostic test at gm request and found a mysterious ignition code but no solution. What makes this even stranger is that we also had a 2010 yukon that started on its own one afternoon when myself, a sheriff deputy and three other neighbors were standing next to it during a severe lightning storm. The garage door was open, the keys were "not" in the ignition but when there was a loud lightning strike it started.to run. I did not contact anyone and it never happened again until the truck started after a lightning storm. I have since sold both vehicles but they are still in the local area. I really feel the gm ignition problem goes a lot deeper!!

While driving pulling a boat trailer truck lost all power doors started locking and unlocking continually, all gauges and warning lights come on truck lost power and cuts off loosing breaking and steering, radio resets , speakers not working. Service traction control warning comes up service stabilatrac comes up , service battery/charging system.

We have had three of the power locks go out - first was front passenger, which was under warranty and covered free of charge, so was the second - the front drivers side. But, the rear passenger side went out a year later and now they will not cover it under warranty. My concern is that, having small children, i have had them locked inside the vehicle and the unlock doesn't work, so i have to climb through to access the door lock. In an event of an emergency, where time is of essence - this is a severe issue.

All 4 door locks do not lock/unlock unless done manually. Big safety issue!!! notice a lot of complaints on this maybe it is time for a recall.

All four door locks were intermittently inoperative & only able to function manually from the inside.taken to dealer and diagnosed as internal failure in door lock assemblies/actuators.all four door lock assemblies were replaced at a customer cost of $900+.this is my second gmc vehicle that has had the same problem and after searching the internet this seems to be a fairly common problem.even the dealership mechanic mentioned surprise that it has not been recalled or gmc has not been forced to fix the problem considering how often he had personally diagnosed & fixed this same problem.this is definitely a safety issue as the customer is unable to rely on the door lock system or lock/unlock the doors as usual.multiple times, my vehicle sat at the airport for days unlocked because of this failure.similarly, my toddler-aged children were able to open the doors to the backseat with the vehicle in motion due to the failure in the automatic assembly.

Driver front door does not lock or unlock.

Passenger door lock stopped working. Only way to unlock door, is by reaching across seat and lift lock button. This is unsafe in case of an accident, where the drivers door is unable to be used for exit, and the passenger door must be used.

The fuel lines are rusted through spraying fuel to under side of truck. The lines rusted through while driving fifteen hours strait from florida. If the fuel would have hit the tail pipe or diesel particulet filter when regenerating, there could have been a serious fire. I have been through an explosion at work and know what it is like to be burned.i only drove this truck daily two winters before i got hurt and last winter it was in florida. I haven't even changed the front brakes yet but the fuel lines are shot. Shame on gm and shame on nhtsa for not addressing this. You both know there is a problem with brake and fuel lines. How many people need to die or get hurt or how many not even reported have been touched before you act. And by the way i have a mechanics degree from years ago but am not a practicing mechanic.

Began to smell faint raw gas fumes around the vehicle in the summer.in the autumn months the raw gas odor smell intensified and was very strong with an overcoming presence in the cabin while driving.i brought the vehicle to my shop for diagnostic.the mechanic (non gmc garage) called back several hours later and said i had been driving a potentially disaster.he asked me to see for myself. I was able to view this first hand after he had removed the fuel tank from the vehicle. The fuel pump is mounted into a deep sump on the top of the gas tank.the sump well is rather deep and collects mud, silt, debris and water while driving and that collects and build up over time into the sump and that stays moist at all times.over the course of 6 years the fuel pump housing and mount ring rusted, rotted out and started leaking raw gas that was spilling onto the hot exhaust pipe alongside the fuel tank.i do not go off road with the vehicle nor do i plow snow with it.the vehicle is used principally in highway driving.a few weeks later i was talking to a friend who owns a 2010 gmc suburban and he had the exact same problem.i subsequently went on line, searched on google, and discovered a number of other owners that had the same problem with their vehicles.this is a design flaw in which the tank is designed with the deep circular depression(a perfect sump condition) for the mounting of the fuel pump and with normal road driving (most notably in the northeast or northwest where rain and snow isprevalent) the sump will stay moist with mud and debris collecting causing rust in the fuel pump housing/mounting ring.

My concern is three door power locks have gone bad and replaced two so far. My concern is the rear doors are keyless and you cant unlock them from front. I spoke to gm and they don't see a need to recall truck. I talked to my local mechanic and gm dealership and they are seeing a lot of failed power locks on this model truck. Can i give you a what if scenario say theirs a fire in front and i cant unlock rear doors to get my children out wouldn't that be a liability issue if i couldn't get them out to save their lives.

All of my power door locks are not working. This is a very dangerous situation when you have children in the back seat and they try to open the door while in transit. I have had the locks repaired once already while the truck was under warranty and now they are faulty again. This is not what i paid for when i chose to trust in gmc. I think a lemon law lawsuit is in order if they don't resolve this issue free of charge. Gmc is risking the lives of not only my children but every other family that trusted in gmc.

I have to lock and unlock both of my passenger side doors manually, because the locks doesn't work with the key fob nor inside the vehicle. I feel like this is a safety issue that gm should recognize because someone could have values stolen out of their vehicles if not have the vehicle stolen if they forget to manually lock doors when there is a passenger in the vehicle.

Driving home, the spindle arm broke, causing the tires to lose steering ability, leading to the loss of control and the truck going into pensacola bay. No airbag deployment. Driver knocked unconscious.

The lower steering shaft is making a noise. Took to a repair center and show the shaft needs to be lubedit makes a creaking noise when driving over humpsand also the slip yoke in the rear of the truck when coming to a stopped position the drive shaft moves and back and it feels as if you was being bumped from the rear of the vehicle.the two issues are found all over the web reporting these issues and gmc as not identified or resolved these issues especially on these models.

The dashboard is cracking due to a design flaw around the passenger airbag which can cause the airbag to tear and or fail to deploy properly in a accident. In researching this subject on the internet i came to find out that this is a common issue in all gmc and chevrolet light duty trucks from 2007-2012.

Dash is cracking in several places.

The dashboard is cracking above the instrument panel to the right of the airbag assembly.the truck is rarely driven, and has just passed 30,000 miles.the crack appeared whilethe truck sat in a stationary position in an enclosed garage.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra. The contact stated that the dashboard cracked on the passenger side of the vehicle and expanded to a gaping hole. It was diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 104,000.

Dash is cracked at passenger airbag. I have concerns about sharp plastic during airbag deployment causing serious injury.

The drivers side interior door handle will not open the drivers side door.the window has to be rolled down in order to open the door from the outside.... Based on the gmc forums i have read this happens to a lot of people. The replacement costs can run from $200-$800 due to plastic pieces and cables being usedthat melt and break easily. This is very dangerous because if someone were to ever get into an accident and they need to get out of the vehicle quickly they will not be able to open the driver side door if that is the only option to be able to get out. They will have to kick the window out in order to open the door with the outside handle.i am the original owner of the truck and am very disappointed this has appended at such a low mileage.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra. While traveling 35 mph, the contact noticed a grinding sound coming from the front of the vehicle. After examining the vehicle, the contact discovered that the a frame was fractured in half on both sides of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.the vin was not available. The current and the failure mileages were 37,000. Updated 4/2/12 updated 04/16/12

I noticed some corrosion on the frame and undercarriage when i purchased the vehicle, but purchased a warranty thinking i'd be covered if it got worse. The corrosion is not covered and the corrosion is getting much worse very quickly. My frame will rust through at some point.

Three years in a row , my truck has not passed inspection due to problems with the front end ball joints on both sides.this spring my front left bearing and axle failed, it has failed inspection again this year. I have 91,000 miles on my truck.

Crack dashboard there are so many of us facing the same problem dealers saying i have to pay which one cost to me around $800.00 when same problem with hundreds or thousands have the same problem

Dash is cracked in five places. The edge on the cracks are so sharp that you could cut your hand if it's moved across it. Also have tests been done to make sure the crack if airbag is deployed does not become projectiles

Dashboard is cracking, part of this is around the airbag and i think it could be dangerous if the already defective air deploys it could send shards of broken dashboard into my or a passengers face, this is common in 2007-present trucks made by gm, they are aware of the problem but do not do anything about it even admitting a bad design

Went to pass another vehicle, accelerator pedal stuck to floor. Was doing 90-100 mph before i could get the key turned off, which caused the pedal to pop back up.
