The wire that connects the airbag "person in the seat" switch breaks when you put (slide) the seat all the way back. They know this and have not recalled the truck!they will not and are not going to pay to fix it. The airbag will not deploy when needed, is this a safety recall?

Dash is cracked around the air bag. Cracked in three places, if in a crash dash may explode into sharp pieces and cause more damage. Scared the dash will crumble in a crash and not provide any needed support.

The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, vehicle failed to respond to deceleration attempts and the contact crashed into the preceding vehicle. The vehicle then erroneously accelerated and crashed into a steel post then a tree. Upon impact, the air bags failed to deploy. A driver turned left into me as i was going through a green lighted intersection.he thought he could make it. I was the only person in my vehicle, so i understand that the passenger air bag would not deploy.what i don't understand is that the drivers air bag did not deploy.the impact totaled my truck.the contact was on the front passenger side, so maybe that is why.just thought i would report this in case there is a problem with gm air bags.

My dash has large gaps/cracks in the dashboard. These range from the windshield all the way the front piece of trip. The dash is completely separated. Right in the center of the dash, around the airbags, and the other smaller parts or the dash are cracked too. I use a sun shield, so that is not the case. My daughter and i have both cut our hands on the dash. She was so surprised when she got in the truck that she asked if i had a wreck, and then ran her hand over the dash and cut her palm ad two fingers. I also cut my hand while trying to clean it so that stuff does not drop down the crack, such as dirt or dust, can't that start a fire with the wires and the heater down there? another thing is my vents don't wok like they are suppose to. The dash is so broken you can hear sounds of plastic vibrating and blowing in the vents. This directly effects the air flow to, it's like its not even connected. This all happened while the vehicle was in the garage stationary not running.

The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra.while backing out of the driveway, the contact heard a loud noise inside the vehicle followed by gas leaking from the frontal air bags.the failure occurred without warning.the air bags failed to deploy.the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and remained lit until the engine was turned off.the manufacturer was notified of the failure.currently, the vehicle has not been driven or repaired.the contact was waiting on a response fromthe manufacturer.the failure and current mileages were 39,700.updated 1/6/09 the consumer stated the seatbelts locked up, which rendered them useless. Updated 01/14/09.

The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v324000 (air bags) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

I continue to be annoyed by a condition i experience with the gmc vehicle i purchased new three years ago.the problem is one that the dealer does not have a remedy for.the specific problem is that when the vehicle is parked overnight or when it is parked in the shadows, the instrument panel is not lighted when one drives away sometimes for periods of up to thirty to forty-five minutes.this becomes particularly irritating in the case of the radio which cannot be read from the driver's position.only after the vehicle has been in the bright sun for sometimes as little as ten and often as much as forty-five minutes will the dash lights kick in to where they are easily readable.i find this condition a potential hazard in that people may be stretching to read their radio or may not be able to adequately view their instrumental panel otherwise.the problem seems to be a design error.what appears to be an electric eye or similar device is in the shadow of the windshield wiper assembly or the pillar on the passenger side.what happens then is when the electric eye is in full sun, it eventually seems to find where it is at and the lighting in the dash is increased.it seems that because this is a dangerous condition much in the way of cell phones, gm ought to be made to recall and/or offer a remedy to the consumer.i find this comment being made by fellow owners of gmc and chevrolet pick-up trucks.the problem then is not only mine.how widespread is it?

The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra. The contact stated that the heater failed. The motor would operate but no heat would emit from the vents. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the wiring was overheating and the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and advised that the vehicle was not included in any recall. The failure mileage was 95,000.

The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, there was smoke coming through the vents along with a burning odor. The air conditioning unit was activated when the smoke started pouring through the vents. As the air conditioner was turned off and the smoke ceased. The air conditioner was never used again. Most of the electrical lights on the instrument panel started to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who stated that the failure was caused by the throttle sensor or the catalytic converter. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 74,616.

Heater motor continues to run after the switch is turned off, the blower only works randomly. I understand there is a recall for this issue but my vin is not included. This seems to be a problem in a number of different gm vehicles. There is a chance of electrical fire with the being able to run with the switch off also the report would not pull a list of parts nor would it permit me to type in the parts: heater motor blower resistor, and wiring connectors.

Vehicle would not start, ignition would not work and air bags!!!

As truck was started after routine maintenance and being pull out of garage on11/10/15 there was a fire under the front of truck. When the fire was extinguished, the mechanic saw that the wiring was exposed due to continuous scraping against truck frame.

The wire that connects the airbag "person in the seat" switch breaks when you put (slide) the seat all the way back. They know this and have not recalled the truck!they will not and are not going to pay to fix it. The airbag will not deploy when needed, is this a safety recall?

2007 gmc crewcab sierra with 5.3 liter ,auto, has had three plastic fuel line failures in last two years.after detecting a fuel odor, gas was found to be dripping/sprayed in the area of the exhaust pipe. Appears to be a fire risk.same truck was delivered with warped flex plate, and has experienced major and repeated a/c failures. This truck is driven by a 50's female, has never towed, been off road etc. It is at a repair shop but has about 35000 miles on it.

5.3 vortec with afm is now burning oil at the rate of 1 qt every 800-1200 miles.the more highway driving the more oil it burns.gm is very aware of the issue and just refuses to make the proper repairs volunteerly, but is more than happy to put the customer through all kinds of bs.will start the oil consumption test, tomorrow.if that fails the dealer told me they will try the oil shield fix and if that fails, they will replace pistons and rings.seems like a huge waste of time when they know there is a major problem.

The dealer stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Traveling at a low speed on my property and the truck entered into a "reduced power" mode. Which cut off all power to the drive train. You were left with no ability to go front or back. After shutting off the truck and restarting it returned to normal. Local gmc dealer says he gets one a month for this condition. Costs to repair exceeds a $1000. Lost of power could happen any time. Very dangerous situation.

When stop feel like somebody hit me from the back one guy told me that my transmission.

The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra hd. The contact stated that the transmission lines have been leaking for a couple of months. The dealer was contacted and stated that the warranty did not cover any repairs related to the power train. The contact is concerned that there was no recall for his year, make and model vehicle. Noticed a puddle of fluid on the garage floor.investigated and found it to be brake fluid.the entire reservoir emptied on the floor after a day. I had a hole in one of the brake lines under the drivers side.looking under the truck all the line were terribly corroded and could break at any time .taking it to my mechanic next week to replace all the lines. 9/1/2015

Brake lines rusted out resulting in brake failure, luckily it happened at a complete stop on the side of aroad.

I drive a company truck during the week and make a habit of driving my sierra once a week as well. I was going down the driveway to the main road when the pedal fell to the floor. No brakes whatsoever. I used the emergency brake to come to a safe stop. I looked under the hood to realize that the brake lines were rusted and had blown a hole. This truck is not that old and i do not live in a northern state where salt corrosion is an issue. I baby my truck and keep it up. I later did a search on the web an found out that thousands of others are having this issue as well. This is ridiculous, this is a bad material choice for brake lines. Gmc needs to realize this and recall all of us and install coated, or better yet, braided/poly-covered lines to make sure this never happens again. What if i were traveling at a higher rate of speed and had my family in the car? i can see their stand on this being a maintenance issue, but i have friends with early 80's and 90's model trucks that still have the original brake lines in them, not corroded or rusted, and still work great. Get on the ball gmc and take responsibility for this.

The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the service stability track, the service traction control, and the anti lock braking system lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,000.

The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra. The contact stated that when the vehicle was decelerated, the anti lock braking system would activate once the vehicle's speed was below 5 mph, causing an increase in stopping distance. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told to remove the fuse. The dealer did not repair the vehicle. There was a manufacturer's recall for the failure however, the contact's vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 50,000.

I had a minor vehicle accident when i appliedthe brakes they went straight to the floor.i hand my vehicle towed to shop andit was found that the brake lines had rusted thru in the bracket on the firewall.

Metal brake lines rusted prematurely @ 29,900 miles causing brake line to rupture.this caused brake failure. Truck had to be towed to dealer who diagnosed rusted brake lines.for future safety all metal brake lines on truck required replacement. Failure occurred in work parking lot so no accident occurred due to failure.

When traveling through an intersection at a green light another vehicle illegally entered the intersection.i saw the vehicle and attempted to stop but when i hit the brakes the pedal went down to the floor and no braking action occurred.i was told i blew a brake line.the car was repaired of the damage from the accident but i had to pay for the brake line repair.after getting the truck back i brought it back to the repair shop for an alignment within a few days.while the repair shop was driving the car in for the alignment a second brake line blew.there is not a recall from gmc and there no reason why the brakes lines should be rusting out and blowing on a car that is well maintained.

Brake line burst when i pumped brake pedal prior to start of trailering a horse trailer.gmc dealer stated brake lines were rusted through.dealer had inspected vehicle week before during tune-up and did not notify me of rust or issues with brake and fuel lines rusting in gm trucks.i found reported issues with rusting brake lines in gm trucks per my own research.brake lines are being replaced at my expense.

The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra 2500 hd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to engaged. The contact had to use the electric brake from the horse trailer in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the brake lines were rusted. As a result, the brake calipers along with brake lines needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra. While driving 55 mph, the brake pedal failed to respond when it was depressed and the abs indicator illuminated. The contact discovered that there was no brake fluid in the reservoir and the brakes were rusted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,000.updated 10/10/14the consumer stated upon depressing the brake pedal the vehicleslowed, but the pedal went to the floor. The driver made a right turn at 35 mph and slid into gravel almost hitting a guardrail. The manufacturer stated they haven't received any similar complaints. The consumer has heard otherwise from various mechanics. The vehicle was repaired.updated 3/31/2015

Brake line left front rusted thru . Had to use parking brake..had truck taken to shop replaced line with stainless steel.

Brakes failed, vehicle brought to a stop using 1st gear and parking brake, narrowly avoiding accident.parked in parking lot and brake fluid drained to pavement.dealer advises replacement of all brake lines as all are severely corroded (estimated cost - $2,400).vehicle is exactly 5 years old with not many miles.used in canada in the summer and florida in winter months.only exposure to salt and snow is when encountered on trips to and from florida.vehicle was undercoated at purchase.very dangerous failure, most certainly must have been fatalities given the number of reports and could have been us yesterday or when towing 5th wheel rv.

While stopping at slow speeds on dry roads my abs brakes kick in causing my vehicle to take longer to stop than normal. The brake pedal also drops toward the floor causing me to think i have lost my brakes completely. This has just started, and has happened to me numerous times. I never now when this will happen to me causing me to be on edge every time i have to stop. I read about this problem with gm trucks and went and spoke with my local dealer's service manager. He told me that this has been an ongoing problem for years. He said that there was a recall on certain model years, but my year truck was not on the recall list. I asked him how it was possible that gm would let the same problem go on newer year models while fixing others? he said he did not know. I asked him how much it would cost me to have the service department fix my truck. He said it all depends on what parts were needed to make the repairs, and could cost me anywhere from $150.00 to $2,000.00. I don't understand how gm can get away with charging some customers to fix the same problem that has been taken care of under recalls in the past. The service manager told me i could pull the fuse on my abs system and the problem would stop,of course doing this would mean i would not have abs brakes any longer, or i could wait and see if my model year makes the recall list in the future. When i pay good money for a safety item on my truck,i expect it to last longer than 42,000 miles, and i don't think i should have to play russian roulette and drive a truck with unsafe brakes hoping it will be put on the recall list in the future. This problem not only makes my truck unsafe for me and my family,it also makes it unsafe for everyone near it as i drive down the streets, and highways. Please don't let gm get away with letting this safety problem go unfixed just because my model year truck is not on the recall list.

Multiple intermediate steering shaft failures over the years with loud clunking noises heard. This truck is lightly used and now has only 24,000 miles onit but it has just had the fourth shaft installed by the dealer?!?!

07 gmc sierra(new body style) was parked. When the truck was placed in reverse and the steering wheel slightly turned there was a loud pop underneath the front end. The right front wheel would not turn when turning the steering wheel but the left would. The truck was towed to a repair shop and was diagnosed that the inner tie rod became unscrewed from the rack steering. New inner and outer tie rods were installed and the truck was re-aligned. If this had happened while driving down an interstate it may have been disastrous.

The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra.while backing out of a parking spot, the vehicle suddenly stopped.the passenger side wheel was unable to move; however, the driver's side wheel operated when the steering wheel was turned.the contact called a mechanic and was informed that the rack and pinion failed or the thread became loose.the vehicle was towed to a private mechanic for repair.the contact feels that this is a safety issue and the failure could have caused a crash had it occurred on the highway.the speed was unknown.the current mileage was 48,000 and failure mileage was 47,900.

I have owned my 2007 gmc sierra 1500 for a few years now and am concerned about a safety issue with the vehicle.i noticed recently that the dash board is cracked in several places.i have never been involved in an accident and the vehicle is mostly garage kept.what concerns me is the cracking that is around the passenger side air bag and the possibility of the cracked pieces becoming projectiles if the airbag were to deploy.once i found out that these cracks were present i did some research and found that this is a common trait among 2007-2013 gm trucks.i have seen pictures online on the gm truck forum and on a dedicated facebook page regarding many other owners who have vehicles with these cracks.some of them even own vehicles in the 20,000 mile range.i wanted to bring this to your attention, and let you know that this is a common problem which could become a safety concern for many gm truck owners.to my knowledge there is no recall at this time.

Driver door. Won't unlock have to get out of truck on right side , took it to dealer said it not and easy fix over 1200 dollars to repair, look on line a lot of other who have serria tk have had problems with the locking system not working, with the door not unlocking has to be a saftey issue.

The rear end went out and fenders are coming looseuniversal joints are going out replaced them, radio went out, front bumper fell out of place, fuel relay switch went out , what happened to gmc top of the line trucks and i've had gmc before and never had this problem and had them for years part store does not have right numbers foruniversal joint.

I have a 2007 gmc truck with 20,000 miles on it . Always garaged .the frame is rusted on every edge of the metal . Holes - mounts -etc.i traded a 1991 in on this truck , that looked like new , compared to this truck.the frame on this truck , looks to be several years old . Even the brake lines are rusted . I thought i was getting a like new truck . I was mistaken !

Dash board cracking!!! have the slt/ltz interior. Dash has cracked, causing me a major issue with the safety of the vehicle. Sharp plastic could make my airbags not work properly.

The front dash on our truck cracked. It is a very large crack and i am concerned about the safety of my family since the airbag is located inside the dash. There should be a recall since all that is offered is a discount on the exact same dash that will do the exact same thing. Please force gmc into a recall!

The contact owns 2007 gmc sierra. The automatic windshield wipers engage without warrant and sprayed water onto the windshield. As a consequence his visibility was impaired. He has to restart the engine to turn off the windshield wipers. A technician from the dealer replaced the windshield wiper sensors. The technician also added that in year 1995 there was an identical failure with this model type. The circuit breaker had to be replaced to remedy the failure. He contacted the manufacturer, and was referred to the dealer. He will have to assume financial responsibility for the repairs. The failure mileage was 25,000. The current mileage was 51,000.
