While traveling about 50-55mph another vehicle cut in front from left side & hit outside bumper. Driver lost control of vehicle & went into a ditch. Driver's air bag did not deploy. Air bag sensor was noted to be dented & crushed. Insurance totaled vehicle.
While driving consumer was involved in an accident, whereas he hit the auto in front of him,consumer's air bag did not deploy and sustained chest injuries.
We were traveling at approximately 50 mph on u.s. 89, milepost 40.3, at 8:00 p.m., when we struck a cow that was on the highway.it totaled our 3/4 ton truck.the air bag did not deploy, causing driver to hit steering column with chest, causing bruised lung and heart, severe soft tissue damage to right arm, causing driver to miss two weeks of work, without pay.
Owner was involved in direct frontal impact at 40 mph in which there was no deployment of driver's side airbag. Point of impact was in the center grill area of vehicle. Also seat belts failed to restrain occupant.

Inner door handles quit working
Ac failure at 20,000 miles - abs failure at 90,000 miles- intake manifold gasket at 95,000 miles- winshield wiper failure at 95,000 miles- power window failure at 100,000 miles.

Vehicle experiencing stalling at speeds ranging from 0-60 mph, loss of power steering and power brakes during stalling, unable to determine cause. Mjs
Dt:the vehicle will go faster than the amount of pressure the consumer applies to the gas pedal.the cruise control was not on whenthe problem occurred.thishappened about 6 times.there have been two recalls on the vehicle.the first was on thewindshield wiper motor, and she went to have it replaced when she discovered the second recall.the second was for the throttle cable. The consumer and the dealerthought that it might have been the reason for the problem.she had the recall done on 7-25-05.the problem still occurred again on 8-12-05.she took it back to the dealer.they told her that it had nothing to do with the recall issue.it might have been a problem with the butterfly intake.when she contacted the manufacturer, they told her to file a complaint with the nhtsa, and she did. So.
Air conditioner system leaking and freezing up.
Recirculate flapper operates without having to push the button. During hot days it brings in unwanted hot air from outside decreasing the a/c efficiency

#1, i spent 1,164.73 to have my anti-lock brakes repaired at a dealer. I found a safety recall of 1.4 million reports of brake failure,with kelsy-have parts ("kcb4"and "ebc4"units).why if i had to spend over $ 1,100.00 to have my truck repaired was i not notified?????#2 my emergency flashers button is jammed and the dealer wants 485.00 to repair. I had the windshield wiper repaired. Whyis my emergency equipment failing?and there is no recall notice!!!!#3 my emergency brake cable and handle-both broke. How much is a dealer going to rip me off to repair.#4 i had to repair the cold solder joints on my hot/cold switch so my a/c would run cold. Once again the dealer wanted to replace the whole unit-"rip me off!!"#5 why after almost 100 years cant a car maker build their cars better rather thancausing the consumer to keep the parts/service industry booming. If my old man wasn't shot by a ?!@#$% fighter plane i would buy from the ?!@#$%, but i have no choice but to buy american (because i am one)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#6 one last thing when i had my fuel injectors "cleaned" the f/n dealer just pumped almost 60 lbs of air in my tires.(some cleaning)??????
The tilt action of the steering wheel can cause the electrical wires to crimp/break, or short out at their connectors on the back of the multi-function column switch.the cruise control cannot be set with the wheel in the lower positions after failure.low beam headlights have been lost due to failure.

Every repair shop i contacted for a quote new exactly what the problem was without even looking at the vehicle, commenting that this was a very common occurrence with my type of vehicle. A coolant leak from a bad intake manifold can be a very costly, especially if not detected early.
Loos epower supply wire to fuel injection pump, causing stalling/bucking.
The vehicle's fuel solenoid driver failed.the consumers complaint is a consern on the failure of the fuel solenoid driver which is an electronic component mounted on th fuel injection pump on 6.5 liter turbo diesel engines with electronic fuel injection and installed in general motors light trucks and suv's from 1994-1999. The consumer vehicle stalledat 41000 miles on the injection pump. The consumer had the pump replaced at his own expense.*tc

Owner states that the door latch is broken on the left side and that he had vehicle in the shop on three different times and they have not corrected problem.

The truck is seldom used and is not used to tow or haul things. When put in reverse today, there was a loud noise and the transmission failed. Now, the truck willnot go into reverse! i keep the truck in perfect condition and perform regularly scheduled maintenance. I just paid it off in sept!!!
Transmission has shelled out twice within one year, this is under normal driving condition, this vehicle is not used for towing or hauling heavey equipment, normal family usage.
Transmission failed to hold vehicle in place while in park, causing accident.
Transmission cooler lines failed causing transmission oil to spray on the hot exhaust pipe that runs directly under it.gmc claims this is not a defect, but it seems that a fire could easily result as well as extensive transmission damage.transmission is 4l80e model.

Failure with driver's seat (captains chair) had problem for years , gmc stated i would have to purchase new seat, but to expensive to replace.the seat is loose and moves from side to side making it dangerous to drive and has no back support. I have contacted the company again.hope you can help. Please we need your advice.this is not a wear and tear problem, it is a manufactor defect.
Front passenger seat tracks have been repaired 16 times, but keep breaking. While driving the seat will move forward on its own. Consumer states when the vehicle stops, the seat slides forward or won't move forward or backward at all.
Seat frame material is made very thin and weak resulting in breakage.

Front seat frame metal has torn and causes the entire seat to recline and is unstable.at any given time the seat will lean back causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The seat metal cracked on both sides on front of seat, sometimes the edges catch on each other and then suddenly releases when motion is started.this happened at a traffic light and found myself looking at the headliner of the truck (the shoulder belt keeps you from going forward, not backwards) the seat back keeps you from going backwards. What happens is the lower seat cushion tilts up towards the steering wheel which in turn can pull the feet off the controls and at the same time the chest and head goes backwards, this could cause a loss of control especially if the hands slip off the steering.i saw that there was an investigation into this, but no recall.i will contact the dealer again to see if they have a solution for this.
Seat bolt failed causing seat to become loose from the track.

The left front seat anchor broke while driving.when it gave away the seat leaned back more thatn usual.if both anchor in the front had broke at the same time the seat more than likely would have fell backwards due to my weight in the seat.during adiscussion with a local chevrolet service rep my wifewas told that they have had some problems with the seat frames in this vehicle.if there truely is a problem of this nature someone other than the manufacturer should probably be looking into it.
Drivers side front cushion frame broke also the passengers side spring and cable to release the seat to move forward has broken

The lower seat frame for the drivers seat in my 1995 gmc sierra 4 wd 1/2 ton pickup has broken during acceleration into traffic. This breakage allows the seatback to rotate backward and to the right tilting the driver back and obscuring view of the highway. This was repaired once in 1996 under waranty. Then repaired again at my cost in 2000 and has broken again today. Each time this failure has occured the truck was being accelerated into traffic flow. This vehicle, although designed for off road usage has only been used on city streets. This seat failure is not a fun situation to experience and loss of control of the vehicle is very likely. I am 6'4" tall and seat position may have some influence on the failure due to the seat sets behind the base that mounts it to the floor. I personally have been told by other owners that this is not unique to my personal truck. The mfg. Doesn't acknowledge any awareness of this occurance being a problem.
While towing our 42 foot camper with the 1 ton gmc dually truck we had a sudden loss of truck braking causing us to run thru a red signal light. The brake lines had rusted and burst leaving very little braking from truck. The brakes were inspected by a gm dealer only 6 months ago and were deemed ok after a 1200 dollar repair bill to replace rear brakes. . this is a real safety issue with such a catastrophic loss of braking . This truck is made for towing and should never have the braking ever be compromised. The truck has 125000 miles and should have had a more durable design integrated into the brake lines.there also was an enhanced chance for fire since brake fluid was sprayed on engine when brakes failed.

When brakes are applied during wet conditions the pedal goesto the floor , the rear brakes lock up, resulting in extended stopping distance.the dealer has replaced the rear brake drums.dealer considers the problem as normal.

Deterioration of the inner linning of the front brake lines caused the brakes to lockup after applying.the left front brake was the only problem and when it would lockup it caused the vehicle to pull severly to the left.the first time the brake locked up it causedthe vehicle to swerve into the on coming traffic.
When driving on any road conditions and stepping on the brakes the front brakes do not work at all and the back brakes lock up. In october of 96, dust was removed from brakes drums and disc brakes. Consumer is still experiencing same problem with brakes.

Consumer's abs light comes on periodcally, and stays on for 2-3 days at a time. Consumer took vehicle to suttle motor corporation olds. Cadi. Gmc dealership--757-886-1700. Dealer repaired vehicle in november,97. Computer indicates that the valve body may be going bad, so they got the light to go off. Dealer says the vehicle is now fine. The light still comes on after the dealer says it's fixed.

Anti-lock brakes failed causing accident..
Intermittently whenbrakes are appliedabs light illuminates.vehicle begins to jump, andbrakes lock up,resulting in extended stopping distance.
Abs light went on permantly and abs didnot work had to have motor replaced because of motor and valve failure feb 2000, same problem happened in july 2000 with the same results and the motor had to be replaced again, now has happen a third time with the same problem and same solution march 2001, there is no reason this unit should have to be replaced three times in 13 months.
Antilock brake locks up, causing vehicle to skid.
Driving at approximately at various speeds brakes feel as tough there isair in line, needs to bleed. Pedal went to floor. Feels as tough if in a panicwill become inoperative. Dealer replaced master cylinder/bled brakes. Defect is still reoccurring.

When the brakes get wet they do not work properly, the brakes will lock up if applied as usual, less pressure required to engage brakes without lock up.

Front disc brake pads wear out too quickly. I only have 17,000 miles on the current pads and they are worn out. I contacted gmc. They say they are sorry but that's the way the brakes are on that year of truck. They say there is no after market fix for this. Gmc literature on their new 2000 sierra trucks say the pads are "4 times" larger than on previous trucks. This tells me gm was aware of a problem and corrected it on their new trucks but haven't done anything to assist owners of older trucks. I feel gm should be required to manufacture an after market caliper with larger pads for installation on older trucks in order to correct the problem with their undersized brakes. I tow a trailer and this has especially been a concern of mine due to the added weight going down the highway. I have a friend at work that has the same truck but his is a 1994 model. He says he has the same problem with his truck and he is not very happy with this situation either. As a side note, i purchased the truck from alfred matthews in modesto, ca., however i have been having all of my maintenance work performed by geweke gmc in manteca, ca. Because they are much closer to where i live. I have not contacted alfred matthews about any of these problems. I have only discussed these problems with geweke personnel. Thank you.
On regular road conditions when applying the brakes the vehicle pulls to the right. The front brakes pads were replaced, and rotors resurfaced at 18,000 miles. At 25,000 replaced front right rotor assembly,and at 27,000 replaced caliper assembly. At 28,500 increased clearance between calipers and brakes pads. Vehicle still pulls to the right when applying the brakes.
When driving on any road conditions and stepping on the brakes the front brakes do not work at all and the back brakes lock up. In october of 96, dust was removed from brakes drums and disc brakes. Consumer is still experiencing same problem with brakes.
When brakes are applied during wet conditions the pedal goesto the floor , the rear brakes lock up, resulting in extended stopping distance.the dealer has replaced the rear brake drums.dealer considers the problem as normal.
When brakes are applied the vehicle will pull to the right.owner has replacedthe calipers , the brake pads and the brake hoses .the dealer is not able to correct the problem.
Metal brake line rusted out and ruptured causing partial brake failure.dealer replaced failed brake line.
Dt: the consumer states there is massive rust on the rear brake line.this caused the brake line to rupture.brake fluid was leaking out, causing a problem while trying to brake.the service dealer stated the brake line needed to be replaced.the dealer did not remove the old brake line when they installed a new one.
Deterioration of the inner linning of the front brake lines caused the brakes to lockup after applying.the left front brake was the only problem and when it would lockup it caused the vehicle to pull severly to the left.the first time the brake locked up it causedthe vehicle to swerve into the on coming traffic.

When i first took truck to gmc service dept. I was told a bolt fell out of steering (somewhere in shaft). The service staff attempted to place a temporary bolt in until the ordered bolt came in. This failed; the temp bolt wouldn't go in. I was told to be very careful driving until fixed. The next day the bolt came in; they attempted to put it in. They told me it wouldn't go in; it was stipped. A new "shaft link" had to be ordered. Again, i was told to be very careful in driving. Next day i was called in. They replaced part.this cost me $335.87 which i felt i shouldn't have to pay. When i questioned it i was told it's no longer under warranty and is my cost. I wrote them a check for the total !
Dt: water comes through the back of the glove compartment and drips into the passengers side floor board. A mechanic pointed out there was rust so he glued it, but it did not help. The vehicle was out of warranty.
In order to open the door, consumer has to roll down the window and open it from outside because the door handle broke.

Thendriver tried pushing ondoor while usingdoor handle, and the handle broke. Both doors have been tough to use. Difficulty appears to come from use on the inside only. Also latch on tail gate failed.the consumer was even more concerned about the possibility that the door might not open during accident or fire.

I have checked several times over the last year concerning recall of these tires. They never seem to fall in any of the recalls even under the recent recall by firestone for tires after 1998. In checking with several tires stores in our area i have been told that the only reason that they are not under the recall is that they are not on a ford product. This seems to me to be ludicious since these tires are known to fail and are on a veh of similar weight and characteristics to the ford products. I want to know why firestone is not replacing these tires. (dot number: vdw8 aw2tiresize: 235/75r16)

How much is a dealer going to rip me off to repair.#4 i had to repair the cold solder joints on my hot/cold switch so my a/c would run cold. According to nhtsa campaign id number: -98v150001 and gm tsb number 98043 there is a recall for my vehicles model year to replacewindshieldwiper control module because of defective solder joints. My truck has this failure, but gmc refuses to repair it because my vehicles vin is not covered in their recall. According to nhtsa the recall could affect as many as 1.5 million vehicles, but i've found reports that say gm only repaired about 70,000. I also read that this matter is already under investigation, but that report was 6 months old. Is there a current investigation? can you offer any additional information?

I contacted general motors when i found out they had a recall on the windshield wiper failure. They told me my vehicle was not on the recall even though it fits the recall criteria. They want me to pay for a diagnosis before they will offer 10% off for replacement parts and labor. The little man doesn't stand a chance without the help of orginazations like yourself. Gm and dealership vista chevrolet in las vegas, nv refused repairs or reimbursement for repairs as required by product safety recall campaign bulletin no. 98043 dated september 1998. If they are correct that our vehicle was not covered by this safety recall, then the scope of the 1998 recall was too narrow, as demonstrated by the failure of this same part in our vehicle. We finally paid an independent garage to replace the defective part in december, 2000.gm should be required to expand the scope of the recall to include ours and similar vehicles.

I called the nhtsa office and reported this by phone in november 2000.they took the same information and said that i would receive a form in the mail to sign and return.the form has never been received.the dealer service tech. Thought this would be covered under the recall.(this is how i found out there was one)when the service manager checked, he said it did not fall into the list of vin #'s.when i contacted general motors about this issue, they said that i was not covered under the recall that is already going on.my vin # was not on the list.i had the dealer replace the circuit board at my cost.i would like to see the recall expanded and my money reimbursed.thank you!

Windshield wipers quit working. This happened intermittently. Had to replacefaulty wiper pulse board. Contacted dealer, and dealer stated nothing they could do. Contacted gmc, and they stated vehiclewas not under recall, and there was no problem.

Nar 02/28/2003mr the consumers windshield wiper wouldnot operate at all.
This vehicle experienced thesamedefect as stated in windshield wiper recall 03 v 159 000; but the dealership was not able to performrecall repairs within a reasonable time frame.

Dear sirs, my problem actually began a couple of years ago, although it only happened once while we were on a trip, it happened again about 6 months later, lately the problem has become more frequent, as this only happens during a rain, it makes driving dangerous and sometimes impossible, my windshield wiper problem was addressed by my dealership and i was told that the problem was the circuit board, i was informed that this very problem was addressed in a recall ( #98043), but after checking my serial #, i was told my truck wasn't covered, this doesn't make sense, how can a recall be issued for a specific problem to a vehicle and be associated with one series of serial #, and yet the same problem shows up on other serial # of the same make & model, sounds like someone needs to widen the scope as to the coverage on this one?nhtsa campaign id number: 98v150001thanks,respectfully yours,danny a. Windshield wipers would quite intermitently sometime not coming back on at all. Reported problem on several occasions spoke with manufacturer and dealership. Was told that this vehicle is not included in recall even though same problem. The last time contacted gm they advised that it had been added so made appointment with dealership and took day off to get fixed and then was advised that it wasn't after all. Spoke to gm again was advised that they made a mistake and more or less to get over it and just pay to get it fixed. This vehicle was not made in the factory where the defective parts were identified and the mileage on the vehicle would make it invalid anyway. In addition the a piece of the frame on the divers seat has broken causing the seat to rock. Have also been advised that i was on my own in fixing this one (estimate $500 from dealership).

I will be driving along on the freeway and it will start raining real hard and suddenlythewindshield wipers won't come on.. I have to pull over as soon as possible,because visibility is nil..in the beginning of this problem i could get them started again by trying the wiper switch , off and on many times..i now remove the fuse, clean it, and replace it. They work again for awhile..until the next time it happens. Seems to be getting progressively worse with time.i need to get this fixed as soon as possible, since i drive 60 miles round trip , daily..i live in a very rainy state.. I knew nothing about this recall in 1998 or 1999, since i bought the vehicle used.

The windshielf wipers have been a problem for years, but since use of this truck is discretionary and off road for the most part, i never did anything about it.the wipers failed completely on an interstate at night in the rain; i could not see anything.i also could not shake the wiring harness or tap the circuit board to get it to start again, like i have done in the past.i was told there is a recall on this (tsb#98043), but the dealer who took over for the one i bought it from said that it does not apply to my vehicle (vin).why not?it is the exact same problem on the same vehicle type/size/etc.if the "recall" does not apply, it should.the new dealer says they will look at it for $75, and then fix it (with perhaps a "credit" being given for the repair).i figure that the $75 is to pay for the fix, to a problem that is endemic, affecting similar vehicles.please help.
Nhtsa campaign id number 98v15000 states that dealers will replace wiper motor circuit board and cover on vehicles manufactured from aug 1994 to may 1996, however the dealer and factory both said my truck isn't covered under this recall even though my truck has this problem. They won't tell me why my truck isn't covered and they refuse fix the problem.
