Our customer/insured was driving his 2007 gmc sierra on april 23, 2009 with his child in the back seat, the auto started on fire as he was driving. He was able to get out of the auto with the child before fire reached the interior. The fire started in the engine compartment and traveled throughout the rest of the auto before the fire department could get to the scene. Over 3/4 of the auto was totally burned. Owners name is john czech.
Hvac system became operational with the ignition turned off for an unknown period of time while the truck was parked in the garage. Relay resistor module overheated causing melting of the resistor and circuit board. Truck cabin and vicinity around the truck had a strong smell of burning plastic. Truck cabin filled with smoke.was only able to turn off the hvac system and stop the burning by disconnecting the wiring harness. Dealer had to replace the blower motor, resistor, module connector and relay. Burning could have caused the entire vehicle to catch fire causing significant damage to other vehicles parked nearby and the house in which the garage was attached.issue was identical to scenario described in transport canada recall #2011074.
Engine shuts down, "service brake system" message appears in display, abs light illuminates.since engine shuts down, lose steering and braking.latest incident occured on highway during rush hour.this also happened first year i owned the vehicle (i bought it new), they replaced the underhood fuse box.this happened again on march 13.they replaced a blown pcm fuse and said they could find nothing wrong.when it occured on 3/29, i replaced the fuse 5 times to try and get off the freeway.after each time it was replaced, i could drive 1-2 miles before it would blow again.
Why is gm recall 14121 limited to new vehicles? it has been a recurrent, common problem since long before 2000. Long before i bought my 2007 gmc sierra classic 2500hd which is on the third repair. I just replaced a transmission cooler line in my driveway. Today.which is steadily eroding by way of continuous transmission cooler leaks. It continuously coats the underside of vehicle, reducing life of belts and hoses. Gm dealers feel its not covered by 5/100k powertrain warranty, or 36k bumper-bumper warranty because it's a long time gm problem as well as warranties in general.
The truck after 40 miles started screeching from the front when going around corners, and was reported to the dealer sam swope, i was informed that it was normal, on the way to town the truck stalled and was towed for repair turns out the coil plug shorted out wires were replaced, next day the truck stalled again towed again turns out that booth catalytic converters were plugged, booth replaced. Entering the freeway when accelerated the truck did not respond, i was informed by the dealer that nothing wrong with the tranny, now i have a clunking noise from the rear of the truck they claim not to be able to duplicate the problem, tires worn out at 27,000 miles turns out alignment problem but no cause for the squealing tires sense first reported the first day of owner ship. Same problem all the time steering wheel never been alignedanti-lock brakes never work right always locking up on breaking first thing in the mornings and the dealership not able to reproduce the problem. This truck is dangerous to drive with to any failures.

I was driving at 55 miles per hour and the truck just stopped running.there was no warning.i had to pull over fast to avoid an accident.the truck only has 40,000 miles on it.the dealership says that it is a fuel cell and that it is not covered under my 100,000 mile warranty.
The primer pump housing develops a small leak around a electrical connection.this could lead to a fire as fuel drops on the engine.gm is aware of problem it has been on going for several years.it only occurs when vehicle is running. Note-no fire has happen to my vehicle, nor do i know of a fire occurring.i just believe this is unsafe.the only way to correct the problem is to replace primer pump housing.

Rusted rear brake line tubing - loss of fluid - no braking power on any wheels - emergency brake was the only way of stopping the truck.
I was driving my 2007 gmc siearra classic 2500hd wt and my brake line failed. I went threw the stop sign out onto a main road and just missed getting t-boned by a tractor trailer. I had no brakes at all. My brakes are all up to date. Brand new brake pads and rotors. I read tons of complaints online of people with the same problem with gm vehicles brake lines rusting out prematurely. My truck only has 32,164 miles on it and is well taken care of. I get compliments on my truck everywhere i go. I got nowhere with gm corporate or marty's gmc in kingston,ma where i bought this truck brand new. They all pretended they do not know anything about these brake lines failing. They now use a different coated brake line to replace the cheaply made brake lines at the customers expense. Please make gm do a safety recall on these failing rusting brake lines before someone gets killed. I was almost not here to tell my story.
While driving the truck on a residential street, the brakes completely failed when i depressed the brake pedal (it went to the floor) and attempted to stop. I lost all normal braking ability and had to stop by down shifting and applying the emergency brakes.when i got the truck stopped and got out, i found that the brake fluid was pouring out onto the ground. A qualified mechanic inspected the truck and found that the brake lines were rusted through and had ruptured.he went on to tell me that this problem is a frequently occurring know problem with gmc pickup trucks and that gmc refuses to acknowledge the issue.
As i was traveling about 35mph approaching a red stoplight i proceeded to press the brake pedal all the way to the floor, with no braking of the vehicle.luckily i was able to quickly shift the vehicle into neutral andengage the emergency brake and avoid collision. After further inspection i found the hard brake line running to the front left wheel had ruptured causing the loss of brake fluid.the line ruptured in an area where it was severely corroded and upon inspection, the other hard brake lines of the system looked severely corroded also.all will have to be replaced!this failure could have had a very bad consequences at a higher speed, closer proximity to other vehicles, or with a less experienced driver!
Rusty brake lines lost brakes, think that a vehical should go 10 years without brake lines rusting away i was lucky when they broke i was home but just got back from another state and was at highway speeds.
2007 gmc sierra classic with approximately 54,000 miles was being driven into a garage to have wheels balanced. As the technician applied the brakes entering the garage, the brake lines on the front drivers side of the vehicle ruptured and the brake peddle went to the floor. Brake fluid poured out onto the floor and the brakes became completely unusable. If this had happened a few hours earlier in the day as i was traveling on steep mountain highways in west virginia i have no doubt an accident and probable fatality would have occurred. All recommended maintenance had been performed at the gm dealer where the truck was purchased and no warnings from gm were given that the brake lines were showing any signs of wear or that a complete brake failure like this could happen.
The contact owns a 2007 gmc sierra classic. The contact stated that the brake lines were severely corroded. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 31,000.
Brakes failed completely, had to use emergency brake to stop. The brakeline was rusted thru. The truck only has 37,091 mi. And has never been in extreme cold as i live in florida.

Front inner brake pads seized into calipers, causing front wheels to drag and skip. Factory calipers original.
My 2007 gmc sierra classic has the same problem as earlier model years that were recalled. The abs is engaging during low speed stops, which causes longer stopping distance and could cause an accident.

2007 gmc sierra classic. Consumer states brakes failure *tgwthe consumer stated he had to use the emergency brake to slowly come to a stop.the consumer opened the hood and discovered there was no brake fluid in the reservoir.he added fluid to see where it was going. He noticed that the brake line on top of the chassis was rusted through completely and that was where the fluid was leaking.
