While driving, the consumer was involved in a head on collision while going around a winding road. Subsequently, the air bag did not deploy.the consumer was driving 35 mph. Please provide any further information.

My 2001 gmc sierra 3500 with a 8.1l v8 engine stalled while on the freeway.it would not restart until a "cool" down period.this problem surfaced as not being able to start the engine after it had run and then set for 30 - 60 minutes and would not start until several attempts were made to start it.this has been an ongoing problem for the last year and has progressed to the stall on the freeway. I was finally able to get an engine failure code from the vehicle listed as crankshaft position sensor failure.upon doing some research i found the recall from gmc (06083 -- crankshaft position sensor engine stall) and called the dealer which informed me that my vin was not covered under the recall.i then called gmc's customer service and explained that i'm having the exact problems listed on the exact vehicle with the exact engine listed.also i have since found 3 other complaints with nhtsa of this exact same problem on other vehicles that were not covered.it is evident to me that this problem exists beyond the block of vin's gmc recalled and should be extended to cover these other vehicles.gmc does not seem to be interested in extending this recall and it should be looked into as a vehicle stalling on the freeway is an extremely dangerous situation that should be resolved.

Sold me a "good running vehicle" that the fuel system failed cause engine to shutdown, caused no braking, vehicle pulled out of center do to steering components, no safety belts in rear of vehicle

Exhaust manifold bolts broke on driver side, back two.these bolts are far too small for the job and this exposes heat and exhaust gases to the environment. Creating a fire danger too.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 3500.while driving approximately 35 mph, the contact noticed that the ses warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel.afterwards, the vehicle stalled and typically restarts.she took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that her vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 07v521000 (engine and engine cooling), although the failures were identical.the contact would have to pay over $400 to have the vehicle properly repaired.the failure and current mileages were 52,500.updated 12/30/08 . *ljthe dealer replaced a faulty crank shaft position sensor.the consumer was informed the repair would not be free of charge because he was not the original owner of the vehicle and also because of the age of the vehicle. Updated 01/05/09.

The contact owns a 2001 sierra 3500. The contact stated that intermittently the engine stalled; however, he was able to re-start itimmediately or after a cool down period. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a technician replaced the crank shaft position sensor at an expense of $400.59. He then added that because the vin number was excluded from recall# 07v521000 (engine and engine cooling), he was ineligible for a free remedy. The manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 65,500 and the current mileage was 65,550.updated 10/13/09 *ljthe consumer stated while going through his files, he discovered the cam cam sensor was replaced in august 2004. At that time, only the check engine light was on. It was repaired under warranty.the crank sensor was replaced in september 2009. Updated 10/14/09.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 3500.intermittently, when the vehicle is driven at any rate of speed, it shuts off without warning.the contact must wait up to 20 minutes to restart the vehicle.the fuel pump was replaced.the vehicle was taken to the dealer at least four times for this failure.the fuel filter was changed on one occasion, but the failure could not be duplicated for the other three.the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 07v521000 (engine and engine cooling).the current mileage was 115,000 and failure mileage was 80,000.

2001 gmc serria 3500 vin #[xxx]. Vehicle intermittantly stalls and will not restart for a while. I see a recall # 07v521000 for this vehicle but gm says this vin is not on the recall list. It has been diagnosed as a failed crankshaft sensor. It seems the recall didn't include enough vins. This truck only has 55k miles on it. Please reopen a failure investigation. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

There is fuel leakage coming from vehicle, vehicle will leak fuel from engine. There is a big amount of fuel that spills at once.*yd

The contact owns a 2001 gmc 3500. The contact stated that while driving 10 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the injection pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred two years later. The dealer stated that the injection pump needed to be replaced again. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.

Whenvehicle is being filled, fuel spews fromfiller neck becausefiller neck is small.dealer and manufacturer have been notified.

It takes a half and hour before fuel gauge will register. Consumer feels that it is dangerous because there arechildrenpresent, and if on road andit cooled they may freeze.

Gas gauge does not rgister till 1/2 hour later. Consumer feels this may be unsafe because children may be present, and may run out of gas.

Injector failures on 2001 gmc duramax 6.6 diesel engine. Injectors failed and replaced under warranty at 167,000 miles, failed again at 197,000 miles and replaced under warranty. G m customer service said they would replace them under warranty if they failed again in such a short period of time. Injectors failed at 234,000 miles and gm customer service renigged on their word. Many others have had failures in 30,000 to 40,000 miles. They are replacing parts with remanufactured parts and they are not lasting. Gm dealers are charging $3600.00 to $4,500.00 to replace these injectors out of warranty. It is plain that they know that there is a problem with the injectors when they extended the warranty on injectors from 100,000 to 200,000 miles or seven years.they get away with this because most people do not drive their vehicles that much in seven years. All i wanted was a fair deal and did not get it.

I was standing on the tailgate of my 2001 gmc k3500 preparing to unload my new refridgerator when the cables snapped. This caused me to fall back down on the steps to my front porch. I have bean having mid to upper back and neck problems since this happened. I have began seeing a chiropractor and a acupuncturist in order to keep going to work.*la

Gmc 2001 sierra c3parking brake no longer functions as it should. This is a severe safety issue as the pedal goes to the floor and there is no way to adjust it (from what i can tell). A previous campaign 05v161000 alluded to this issue but only for manual transmission trucks. This is not logical as the mechanism is the same.

Brake line ruptured leading to complete loss of braking.hit car in front of me as it came to a stop.this is the second time that the brakes have failed due to brake line rupture due to excessive corrosion of the brake line metal.please force gm to issue a recall.

I almost ran into another car because the other driver stopped suddenly and i had to pump the brakes over and over to stop when the rusted line broke.i was on a city street driving speed limit and was lucky to be able to stop.i was towing my trailer last week and almost lost the trailer because the entire underbody is rusted.i have had several trucks and never have seen this happen.it was a scary situation in both cases.

Brakes failed due to rupture of rusted brake line, no warning light while driving on the interstate.was barely able to stop by pressing brake pedal to the floor. Abs did not activate. Took vehicle to mechanic.multiple brake lines rusted out.

Three weeks ago noticed low brake fluid. Filled reservoir and didn't see and leaks. Yesterday i was in town shopping and when i came out of store and leaving brake peddle went to floor when i tried to stop had enough brake to stop before hitting car in front of me. Bought a quart of fluid and refilled tank and cautiously made it the 25 miles home after refilling twice. Looked under truck and saw leak above the fuel filter. The whole line under truck is terribly corroded and will need replacing. I live in hawaii and have had the truck for 5 years so no salt damage here.

I was involved in a crash where i think the brakes on my 2001 gmc sierra failed to stop my vehicle in time.i rear-ended a pickup truck, which hit a toyota, which then hit a jeep.i know there has been a recall on abs front wheel speed sensors, yet my vin was not included in the recall.nhtsa should force gm to recall all trucks, regardeless of location, and have the abs system properly fixed (not just clean the sensors!!).

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 3500 diesel.the contact stated that the antilock braking system would activate while stopping from 50 mph.the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock).the mechanic stated that the repairs could cost slightly less than $1,000.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure and current mileages were less than 175,000.

While driving i had my brakes fail, the pedal went to the floor. It was a result of a broken steel brake line under the drivers seat. What i found when i looked under the truck was all the lines that went to the abs unit were badly rusted. One of my coworkers had the same problem on his 2001 gmc suburban but he chucked it up to all the camping trips he went on where he left his truck parked off road. My truck however only has 30,000 miles and it has never been taken off road. I also flush the brake fluid once a year as preventative maintenance, so they can't claim they rusted from the inside out. I drive my truck every day to work about one mile away. My driveway is paved and the parking lot at my place of work is also paved. I don't pull any heavy trailers or do anything else that would contribute to the line failure. I am not putting down gm products because all my vehicles are gm vehicles including two antiques. One a 1955 chevy which had original brake lines until i did a disc brake conversion several years back. The other a 1970 chevelle which is currently a restoration project but the line are still original. There is obvious a problem with the material used to make these lines. I was researching the problem online and it appears that there are to many other people with the same problem. Also gm no longer sells the lines which makes it a much more troublesome repair. I also don't own a boat, jet ski or anything else that would require me to put my vehicle in salt water.

After experiencing abs braking problems on my 2001 gmc truck model nk3, i became aware of gm recall no. 05068, 05v379000, which the local dealer says this issue does not involve my vehicle. For safety reasons, i did repair the problem.

Shortly after buying this truck, i was doing less than 20 mph slowing down to stop at a light. I hit a small dump then i heard the abs come on and i roll right through the red light. The dealer told me it must be my driving. After several other similar situations, i had the abs disconected and have not had any other failures.

I have a 2001 gmc sierra 3500.i have the anti-lock brake problem described in nhtsa id number 05v37900.there is no question that the anti-lock brakes engage at slow speeds. I have called gm about it, e-mailed them about it, stay in touch with the dealer and everyone says my vehicle is not affected by the recall but it is should be for sure.my friends with 1500's and 2500's have all had it repaired but i got no notice.every place i check says it should be on the recall list but not when i use the vin on the gm site.

Brake pedal will go hard at low speed and not brake. My dealer said it is the wheel speed sensor and he cleaned it. Gmc has a recall for this problem on their suvs and some pickups but not for my truck.

Failure occurs below 15mph while doing a normal stop on both wet and dry road (with no contaminants on the road to affect braking). This has happened eight times in the 8500 miles i have driven the vehicle, with the eighth time resulting in an accident. Event course is that i am coming to a normal stop, and while my foot is on the brake i push slightly more on the pedal in an instance where a little more brake is needed to stop before where i had originally planned. Immediately the abs kicks in (i can hear a whirring sound but the brakes pedal does not fluctuate), and i loose about 50% of the braking power right when i need more to stop sooner.obviously the vehicle keeps moving forward past where i need it to stop. This vehicle is owned by seattle public schools and is a maintenance vehicle.the maintenance shop and dealer claim that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, and i have refused to drive it.rear wheel bearing seals have been replaced. I have been driving over 40 years and have never experienced this type of response from any other vehicle i have driven. / please note on your web page, i could not make a selection for anything but a 'passenger vehicle'. This is a van.

Dt:the contact stated there was rust on the abs sensor on the front axle.the vehicle was taken to a mechanic, and they took the front hubs off and cleaned out the rust.the two abs sensors were also replaced.the vehicle was working properly at this time.there was recall, 05v379000, andthis consumer experienced the samefailure.according to general motors, this vehicle was not included in the recall due to vin. The rotors were replacd due to rust. Updated 11/29/05.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra c3.when the vehicle approaches a stop, the abs grab and make it harder to stop the vehicle.the contact stated that this failure occurred one year earlier while driving at any speed.the emergency brake also failed, which caused the vehicle to fail inspection.a local mechanic informed him that the wheel sensors possibly needed to be cleaned or replaced.the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock).the repairs would cost approximately $1,500.the failure mileage was 35,000 and current mileage was 47,000. Front right abs wheel sensor failed2001 sierra truck causing sudden and unexpected pulling to the right as the abs system engaged at low speed. Truck is subject to a gmc regional recall (recall id# 58438) but gmc has refused to fix problem stating the truck was not in the recall database. Truck was shipped by dealer to mass in 2002 where it was registered until september 2005.

Dt*: the contact stated while standing on the tailgate, the tailgate cables fractured without warning.no injuries were sustained.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined both tailgate cables needed to be replaced.the manufacturer was alerted.

Tire size lt24575r16; this motorhome has had 2 tires fail at different mileages. First one had tread seaparation at 11,800 miles, and second tire had tread separation at 14,300 miles. Both caused motorhome to vibrate, and both occurred in rear with non-dual axle assembly.this motorhome is sitting on a ford chasises.
