Dash has cracked around the passenger side air bag cover. If it goes off it could splinter and cause harm.
There is a small crack in the dashboard next to the airbag. Gmc will not repair it at their cost.
Dashboard under front windshield prone to cracking. Initially this would sound like it is only a cosmetic issue. The problem is that typically the first crack occurs at the front/left corner of the front passenger airbag panel. As the vehicle ages under temperature fluctuation and uv exposure the initial crack widens and more develop. Also, from pictures taken of a 2007 gmc yukon and 2007 chevrolet avalanche the airbag compartment cover appear to be shifting and lifting as the cracking continues. The degraded plastic surrounding the airbag cover could be a shrapnel hazard to vehicle occupants in such close proximity to an explosive airbag deployment. This could also diminish the effectiveness of the airbag if it is punctured. Clearly the material and construction of this part were not made to withstand the rigors of the installed environment so merely replacing a cracked part with the same new part will, at best, only be a temporary fix.gm needs to design this part properly so that will maintain it's integrity as a surround of the passenger airbag compartment.
Dashboard cracked adjacent to passenger airbagpotential safety issue since there is brittle plastic in the area where airbag deployment would take place.this issue has been reported before by me and many others and yet no action has been taken by nhtsa or gm for a remedy. I'm skeptical about whether it's worth taking the time to make such reports to nhtsa when your response sounds more like it was written by gm corporate communications rather than the public safety advocate you are supposed to be. You claim there is insufficient data to take action. Model years affected are from 2007 through 2014on numerous gm nameplates ie: avalanche, silverado, tahoe, suburban, yukon (xl), sierra and escalade. Erring on the side of safety should, at least, prompt an investigation from the data already received. It should also be considered that this design and its implementation occurred when gm was being bailed out by tax payers and quite a few of them are now left holding the bag while they are potentially at risk..
Crack in dash at location around passenger airbag. Concern if air bag deploys, it will be cut or destroyed by the dash's sharp edges.
I purchased this truck november 26 2016, within a month i was sitiing in my driveway i turned the truck on when i went out to go to work in the morning i got a bunch of flashing lights service stabilitrak, service 4wheel drive, service traction control, made multiple attempts to contact five star auto in biddeford, brought the truck in they refused to fix issues, asked for a trade nothing on the lot was worth purchasing without putting me out more than i already owed, christmas morning the truck was towed to weirs in arundel they pulled the truck apart and found a bunch of wires were corroded and the frame of the truck was caked with rocks mud and sand which had caused the corrosion, they fixed the issue. Within a couple months the same issue came back up and once again the truck was in the shop getting worked on. The problem is not fixed after spending money to fix a problem i had less than 30 days from buying this vehicle(driving completely normal will cause these lights to flash at random times) , all the lights do still come on randomly and today while at the dayton country store my transmission in my truck went, i am waiting to get my truck towed from the store to a shop! for a vehicle that the carfax came back clean and the dealership made no attempt in helping me fix or pay for any issues i have had. Im now struggling with a vehicle that i was lied to about the condition it was in after paying $32,000 for a truck. I have kept all documentation and have images that were sent to me from weirs
I went to open the electric rear sliding window, and it started to open, then it stopped halfway open, with a black cable hanging down. My truck only has about 23,000 miles on it, and have only open it less than 12 times. It still doesn't work. I tried to complain to general motors corp. Customer service, with them telling me that it would cost me $542.65 with gm assistance. This is rediculous. It must have been installed wrong, or it was defective. I was stopped at my house when this happened. I've made several calls to the customer service, speaking to several representatives, and i keep getting the same answer, thati will need to pay to have the whole window replaced (not fixed). I would like to know if there are other complaints about this same issue from other customers. The dealer that quoted me the cost was sanborn chevrolet, in lodi, ca.
The rear sliding window stopped working after i tried to open it using the switch located near the rearview mirror. It had only been opened less than 12 times.
The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra 2500. While operating the vehicle, several unknown warning indicators suddenly illuminated on the instrument panel, including the stabilitrac warning indicator. Also while driving at low speeds, the power steering would suddenly shut off. Furthermore, while driving approximately 75 mph on the highway, the vehicle shut off momentarily and restarted. Key buick gmc (4660 southside blvd, jacksonville, fl 32216) was notified of the failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 75,000.
Traction control / stabili trak cam on the transmission would not shift hade to manualit to shift

The biggest problem (out of many) that makes thisvehicle unsafe, stressful, and discomforting to drive is how it will randomly decides to raise the idle to 900+ rpm (in gear) and basically drives it's self. During this condition it is very difficult to operate vehicle. Because of its random pattern it caused me to have an accident that resulted in $3500 in body damage to the truck. Thank god no one was hurt. Wear and tear is drastically increased as the vehicle is trying to drive on its own as i'm trying to stop at traffic light, stop signs, or simply parking. Drive-train is banging, brakes are working harder, and fuel is being wasted. Now, add a payload or trailer as i often do and problems are magnified. Essentially the vehicle is aging and wearing its self out before its time.i have been ordered by pima county court to have the vehicle fixed or replace. The officer that gave me the citation witnessed the high engine idle and agreed that it would be difficult to stop especially with a loaded trailer as i had that day. Officeralso testified this in court on 11/4/2015.there is a current law suit in california for this defect. My local dealers will not work on vehicle anymore do liability and told me take it up with gm. Gm has provided no assistance.
I am writing regarding an issue with my 2014 gmc sierra. I purchased the truck in 2014 and have noticed an issue with the headlights while driving at night and in the rain. The headlights do not provide enough illumination when driving at night. Is there a service issue or recall in place to fix this issue? i have requested that the headlights in my 2014 sierra be replaced with the 2016 headlights. This is a severe safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately. The dealer is willing to change the bulbs in the lamp but not replace the lamps same as the 2016 model unless there is a service bulletin or recall. I am still working with the dealer as well as gmc corporate to address the issue. I am been flashed by other drivers to indicate i don't have headlights on but they were on as well as being pulled over by the highway patrol who though my headlights were not on. I have noticed other complaints on gmc message boards as well as other places online.please look into this issue to see if it can be addressed. The only way gmc will address it is by recall or lawsuit.
My fuel pump and injectors failed while i was driving, stranding my truck in the middle of traffic right where a city street was changing to a country road. The gmc dealership falsely claimed that this was caused by using unapproved fuel.the fuel i used was b20 biodiesel, with 80% renewable diesel, which meets diesel specifications and is a legal road fuel in california. They also claimed that a cascade of other problems were all caused by my fuel and refused to apply my warranty.
The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra. The contact stated that while exiting a driveway at an unknown speed, an abnormally loud banging noise was heard from the front end. Upon inspection, it was found that the drive line had failed and was on fire. The contact personally extinguished the fire and a fire report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the universal joint had failed and ripped out the drive line. The vehicle was scheduled for repairs. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 1,900. Updated 05/12/14*lj
The gear shift went loose when i stopped and went to put it in park. Then no ability to shift or re-start the truck.the cable broke and i was told this is a known issue. My report says that there are no un-repaired recalls on this truck. Why is there no recall on this known issue?

The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra 2500. While driving 25 mph and attempting to make a right turn, the power steering failed. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,370.
We have problems starting the truck . You cant just turn the key it takes you wiggling it and pulling it out of the ignition some times flipping your key just a pain in the neck. Had it checked a year ago and they said it was the way we were sticking the key in and it wore down the key. So they made us a new key. It worked for a week or so and went right back to doing the same thing. So now we just dealt with it . Till now .... Now it takes about 3 to 5 mins to get the key to turn and is out of warranty and i really think it was an ignition problem not a key problem. The truck only has 55,000 miles on it. Im so frustrated with my new truck. I have a 04 suburban 223000 miles on it and still have no problems with turning the key.

Power steering failure.power steering pump failed making the vehicle difficult to steer. Upon making a left turn at low speed steering failed and could not turn into my rv resort entrance off the main roadway. I had to come to a stop, continue backing up & pulling forward enough to try tocomplete turn. Had to have truck towed to a gmc dealer for service (power steering pump replaced).leading up to failure,a few times the truck would be difficult to turn but it would last only a few seconds. After having it replaced it again happened over the weekend i will contact gmc in the morning.i am pulling a 15,000 lb. 5th wheel rv with this truck & not feeling confident in my safety after this incident.
The contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra 2500. While driving at a low speed and attempting to make a turn, the steering lost power without warning for a few seconds. The vehicle was taken to courtesy buick gmc (205-718-7565, located at 1857 edwards lake rd, birmingham, al 35235), but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided options since the vehicle was not included in a recall. The contact disagreed, stating that the cost was too high. The failure recurred more frequently. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
My dash cracked and i see this is a real problem. They say $900 to fix and my truck has just 40k on it and less then 2 years old.
I own a 2014 gmc sierra 2500hd. It is in very good condition and well maintained with less than 140,000 on it. One day after work i got into my truck and as soon as i started it i heard my dash crack. It cracked just to the right of the instrument panel by the dash vent and windshield. And has been growing ever since. If the dash is this brittle in a truck that is only 6 years old and been very well taken care of it is a safety issue. If i were to get into a crash and my airbags were to deploy, shards of hard brittle plastic would be sent through the cab possibly causing more injuries.
The dashboard is cracked on passenger side next to the airbag.
Dash is fully cracked at the corner of the passenger airbag.in addition, a crack formed above the instrument panel and continued to spread.
