Cracked dashboard. The dashboard on my 2008 sierra 2500 has three extremely large cracks, one of which ties into the airbag. All of the cracks appeared spontaneously. In the event of a collision, these dashboard parts would become the equivalent of shards of glass flying around in the cab of my pick up. Gmc is refusing to acknowledge that this is a widespread safety problem and wants to charge me $1200 to replace the dash with another one that is is known to do the exact same thing. There is no resolution to the problem.

Driving around a corner when the steering locked its self in position causing the truck to not turn, almost as if when you shut the vehicle off and turn the wheel it locks in position. This caused the vehicle to leave the road and hit a tree. The driver side airbag did not deploy. The passenger side airbag did deploy.

Takata recall - we were told yesterday that a local dealership would not take our truck on trade because of the outstanding recall that has no remedy available. How do we have to wait for this remedy?

A year or so after recievinv my airbag recall service, my dash started cracking. It started at the passenger side airbag. It is now cracked in other places and rattles constantly while in motion. I feel this is a safety hazard. I've yet to see a gmc/chevy from 2007.5-14 that this is not a problem. It seems that the dash pieces could cause serious injury/death if not fixed. Gm will not fix the problem on their end with out the consumer paying $450-750. They said that was the replacement cost with the exact same dash. That dash would most likely crack as well. Why has gm not been held accountable? will people have to become injured/dead before the problem is fixed? pictures can be sent on request.

Takata recall- nhtsa recall #15v324, manufacturer recall #n150438: this recall was brought to my attention in may 2015 and i still haven't heard anything further on rectifying the recalled part. Since this could potentially cause serious bodily harm to me or my family, it needs to be resolved.

Takata recall"dealers still do not have these yet the recall date is may , 282015i have family members that ride in the passenger side all the timeand it scares me . This needs to be taken care of now!!

Dashboard cracks by airbag. Concerned it may project sharp plastic piecesintopassenger cabin in event of collision and airbag deployment.

I got a recall notice july 2015-it is now almost may 2016! i went back to the dealership yesterday and was told no future dates to get this resolved- are you serious? its caused deaths! i am afraid to drive my truck since i got the recall, this is unacceptable!!

Takata recall: the company that made the airbags is out of business and i was told my dealer cannot replace my airbags.

Takata recall???recall came out may 28 2015. Airbag defect can be very serious. Dealer in september 2016 says there is no resolution for recall. They do not have any airbags? how does one get replaced once deployed if none exist? if a replacement does exist then there is no excuse for not replacing them in a recall that is over a year old. Recall status:recall incomplete. Remedy not yet availablewe need to get gmc on the ball with a possible defect causing possible injury. This recall is taking too long to complete. That is my complaint.

Takata recall i received a recall notice july 2015 saying parts were not currentlyavailable and i would be notified when they become available. I have not heard anything since. I do not think it should take more than 2 years toget this problem corrected. Today i received a notice that takata is filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy, so what are our chances to get this problem corrected? i am quite disturbed that gm would let a problem like this to continue this long. I have been a faithfulgm customer ever since i purchased a 1951 chevy back in 1958.thank you in advance for your consideration in this safety issue.there has been no accident with this vehicle!!

Takata recall - the recall date was may 28, 2015.today is december 22, 2016.i need action to fix this problem with my vehicle before someone gets hurt.

Takata recall. It has been since may 2015 that i received a recall notice and to this day there is no remedy.this is my daughter truck and i would like it fixed.it is disappointing to see that it takes this long to find a solution.

The airbag light came on a little bit ago but i haven't had the time to get it checked do to my crazy schedule. Yesterday while my truck was sittng in the parking lot at work the airbag deployed. The truck was not running and the keys were not or near the truck. There is no damage or marks of any kind to the front of the truck showing any sign of impact to trigger the airbag to deploy. I called and spoke to gm and the response was pretty much that it is out of warranty. The truck is now sitting at a local dealer and the service manager spoke with gm also and said they are going to look into it but sounded like they didn't want to cover it either. This is a piece of safety equipment that failed it should not expire with the warranty!!!

Purchased our 2008 gmc 2500hd from classic gmc new. Have taken the truck in teice to try to get them to replace the cracked dashboard. They admit it is a common complaint. They did say that gm has paid to replace some dashboards or paid partial if still in the warranty period. Of course by the time we realized it was a common issue the truck was out of warranty.we recently (dec. 2017) took the truck to classic to get a trade-in value & they only offered $13k because the dashboard was cracked.so, hoping there is a class action filed. The cracking certainly will be a factor if the airbag ever deploys.

Takata recall.my truck has been on the recall list for over 1 year now, still with no remedy to fix it.the idea that my passenger air bag can deploy and injure or kill my wife or my child makes me very uneasy.gmc will not offer a loaner vehicle until it is fixed and i need to drive it for work.i limit my vacations with my family in the truck due to the possibility of injury.not only that but i can't even sale my vehicle having this issue, and it hurts my trade in value because there is no remedy and no other dealer can resale with an open recall.i feel there needs to be more done to enforce the automakers to help the consumers and customers out.the automakers chose takata and should be held responsible for ensuring all customers on the road are safe.when i spoke to gmc about this they basically told me tough luck and deal with it until enough vehicles are fixed that my truck makes the list.

Dash is badly cracked fragments of dash fall off daily.could cause severe injury during airbag deployment.

The brake lights on my 2008 gmc sierra will get stuck on, indicating to others that i am braking when in actuality i am not. I have replaced the brake switch and the issue continues.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra 2500. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle, it seized without warning. An independent mechanic was contacted and drove to the contact's residence; however, the vehicle had to be towed to the mechanic's shop. The cause of the failure could not be determined. The battery was replaced, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to harry robinson buick gmc (6000 s 36th st, fort smith, ar 72908, (479) 646-8600) for a second diagnostic test. The dealer found that the main control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact mentioned technical service bulletin number: 14515b as a possible cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Engine went into limp mode while traveling 70 mph

The contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra 2500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to wilkinson automotive (3335 nc-87 south, sanford, nc 27332) where it was diagnosed that the fuel filter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the mechanic noticed that the vehicle was unable to start and diagnosed that the fuel filter housing needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred 2 days later. The contact mentioned that there was a delay while starting the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact about a manufacturer fuel injector recall and provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

When traveling merging on i-70 outside of london ohio my truck started making very loud exhaust sound. After inspection found that driver side and passenger side rear exhaust manifold bolts where broke off allowing unfiltered exhaust to pass. If leak would have been too bad the high temperature of the exhaust could potentially cause a fire inside the engine compartment. The exhaust also broke welds off the exhaust causing the exhaust to fall the break is where the h-pipe come together.

Hose clamp on hose at coolant reservoir lower connection failed. Vehicle had 1,935 miles on it.hose clamp was either defective or over stressed at installation when truck was manufactured.this failure resulted in a rapid loss of engine coolant.vehicle was stopped prior to overheating due to driver noticing that vehicle was having difficulty maintaining normal engine temperature based on temperature gauge indication. Warranty repair replaced clamp with screw type hose clamp.all other engine coolant hoses use similar factory installed spring type clamps.currently no other problems exist.

Received service trailer brake system on message center.dealer found open wire in factory installed trailer brake wiring harness at e-brake assembly and repaired wire, under vehicle's warranty.problem was possibly due to wire rubbing against e-brake assembly. *ln

The contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra 2500.while driving 35 mph, the contact noticed that the camper was full of dust and dirt due to holes under the vehicle and around the tailgate.the dealer stated that the cause of the failure was unknown and they installed a bed liner.the engine size was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 2,700.

Truck would only burn 12-14 gallons of diesel before gauge would read empty. Level sensor was the problem.

Check engine light comes on in mid june 2010...referred to owners manual which was possibly due to the exhaust filter...owners manual stated specifics to clear which it did.light appeared again and repeated owners manual procedures then scheduled appt at dealership to look at in which we received washer fluid recall at same time.dealership repaired recall but could not duplicate reason for the "maintenance required light" issue.about a week later truck became hard to start...glow plug indicator would not work and fuel began leaking from the fuel filter.returned vehicle to dealership in which they found the fuel filter leaking and fuel sensor cracked in which they cannot find a replacement part and are doing a worldwide search.they also told us that our truck was not equipped with a glow plug indicator which we strongly advised that it was and verified with purchasing dealership.to date, the vehicle is still at the dealership and they have not been able to repair either issue.advised that truck cannot be operated due to the fuel leakage.

I heard recently that you are investigating faulty fuel gauges on gm vehicles.i own a 2008 gmc sierra whose fuel gauge gives inaccurate readings also .

Truck would only burn 12-14 gallons of diesel before gauge would read empty. Level sensor was the problem.

Door locks will not work they stay unlocked or locked whichever possession they are inhave had repaired 3 times at dealer are gone again replaced actuator 3 time an 3 of 4 doors now driver side and back passenger side gone again. Afraid granddaughter can open door while driving.

Engine went into limp mode while traveling 70 mph

I was inspecting my truck for proper fluid levels and wear when i found my transmission dipstick tube laying on my engine oil dipstick tube. I went to grab it to see what was going on and it was just flopping in the wind. I pulled my truck onto ramps, slid underneath and inspected the issue. I found the transmission dipstick/fluid filler tube completely fractured in half. The dipstick is the only thing holding it in place. I searched the web and found that there had been a recall on this failure, but that the recall had not been applied to my vin. My truck=2008gmc sierra 2500hd with a gas 6.0l engine and a 6l90 transmission. My mileage=71,800. The tube is completely severed just above the bracket that mounts the tube to the bell housing. Mind you - this is a 4 wheel drive pick up that i use as a 4 wheel drive. Sound silly, i know, but the recalls were against 2010-2013 escalades and such. An escalade!?? they sited "engine vibration" i believe the failure is more likely to be due to over hardening of the tubing leading to brittleness. Bouncing and engine vibrations just did the rest of it. I spoke with a lady at gm and she created a case for me. She said to go to the dealership, have them inspect it and then get with their customer service experience contact there. We'll see what that results in for me.

While driving at 55 mph on a flat, straight, no traffic, early morning, clear day, new road, between key largo, florida and homestead, florida, my 2008 gmc quadcab diesel with 40,000 miles began vibrating violently. After about 4-5 seconds of tremendous vibration and deceleration, at approx. 35 mph, there was a loud bang. The vehicle was stopped safely on the paved shoulder. After examination on a flat bed tow truck, it was discovered that the "u" joint broke connecting the driveshaft and transmission. The free-wheeling driveshaft punctured three holes in the front floor of the cab, crushed the catalytic converter, smashed the anti lock brake module, broke the gearshift cable, and bent the driveshaft. A steel chasis cross member prevented the driveshaft from dropping to the pavement thus preventing a possible vehicle end over end rotation. The vehicle has a 100,000 mile power train warranty. Today, 3-21-11, 21 days after the incident, no repair has begun on the vehicle. Only three days of rental car was provided. Why has it taken so long to authorize the continuation of a rental car and the gm 100,000 mile power train warranty repair? apparently, a gm representative outside of the dealership of homestead chevrolet cadillac in homestead, florida must authorize the warranty repair because the damage exceeds $3000.they would also cover the cost of a rental car. The vehicle owner has documented proof of completing all the required service and safety checks from exclusively gmc dealerships in florida and georgia. Please help to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Please advise general motors (gm) that the 100,000 mile power train warranty is certainly applicable to cover the entire vehicle damage repair and cover a rental car for the duration of the repair.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra 2500 hd. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stationary, a second vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle causing significant damage. During the crash, the seatbelt failed to secure the driver and a neck injury was sustained. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The brake lights on my 2008 gmc sierra will get stuck on, indicating to others that i am braking when in actuality i am not. I have replaced the brake switch and the issue continues.

Steering column seperated at the tilt column pivot joint. Total steering lost.the collapsible column section allowed the pivot joint retention to dissengage also slide toward engine compartment. There are two set screws, that work loose (google search of issue resulted in lots of documented cases), and set screws fell out and total steering column shaft seperated at pivot joint. No injury, but only due to remote county road at 7am with no traffic. Vehicle went into ditch vs oncoming traffic only due to crown of rural county road.vehicle speed was minimal as i just exited a turn in intersection. Vehicle towed.will upload pics later or please request them also. I am saving all parts as this is a serious issue.column was verified to be used up thru at least 2017. Background. Automotive mechanical engineer with 25+ years experience in commercial truck design including steering systems.

My dash panel has cracked. This panel goes around the passenger airbag and could pose a safety hazard. There are nearly 5000 complaints about these dash panels on facebook page 07-13 gmc cracked dashes safety hazard for all trucks.

Dashboard cracked in two places several years ago.i showed this to my local dealer and the told me there was nothing they could do.it cracked by the air bag and the instrument cluster.very disappointing.

Severely cracked dash in two places. One adjacent to passenger air bag

Dash is craking on both sides and in the middle.

Dash is cracking around the airbag and over the instrument panel.my concerns are that upon airbag deployment, splinters from the broken dash will become projectiles, hurting or killing the occupants.also worried that someone may get cut when running their hands over the dash, such as a child or car wash employee.have discussed this with gm and they are uninterested in repairing it, stating the vehicle is out of warranty.i feel this is not a warranty issue, it's a consumer safety issue. Dash's in gm's trucks year 2007-2013 are cracking by the thousands.gm needs to recall and fix this problem before someone gets hurt or killed.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra 2500.the side mirrors fail to automatically tilt downwards when the vehicle is placed into reverse.the component is a safety option on the vehicle.gm stated that they did not have a program to repair this failure.the current mileage was 23,000 and failure mileage was 5.updated 06/09/08
