The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 2500.while driving between 30-35 mph on normal road conditions, the contact crashed into another vehicle that failed to stop completely at a stop sign.the air bags failed to deploy during the massive impact.there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel.the police and ambulance were called to the scene and a police report was filed.the driver and front passenger side occupant sustained minor injuries.the vehicle was completely destroyed and was towed to a collision center.the opposing vehicle sustained moderate damges and the two occupants were injured.the failure and current mileages were91,000.updated 04/21/09.

While driving 60 mph vehicle stalled.the consumer tried to restart it, but was unable to do so.the consumerhad the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic replaced the electric ejection pump, however theproblemrecurred.no matter what speed the vehicle was going, the engine would die as the key was turned off.sometimes the vehicle restarted immediately, but sometimes it wouldn't restart until it was "worked with."the electric injection pump was replaced for a third time.two new alternators had been placed in the vehicle but at times, frequently killed the pump which drained the battery. The vehicle had stopped in fast moving traffic.the emergency flashers were inoperative, sometimes there would be a hard start then the service engine soon light would come on, the vehicle would die when the headlights were turned on, the a/c switch had broken, and there were leaking lines. *sc

Instrument panel works very rarely, can't tell how fast you are going or what gear you are in and the antilock brakes make it so the vehicle won't stop when you are moving at low speeds.

While driving the brake and abs lights on the instrument panel light up.this has occurred while driving of the freeway and on city streets.sometimes these lights go off and sometimes they remain lighted.when this happens i fear that there is a problem with the brakes and have taken this matter to a mechanic.the brakes were examined and he found nothing wrong.this is very startling to the driver and of great concern. This appears on internet searches and it appears that 100,000 plus individuals have this problem.i have contacted the dealer and obviously this matter has been brought to there attention. Yet they claim they are unfamiliar and want to charge $600 to diagnose and then likely more to fix.this is obviously a lie as there is no way that one could be reading so much about this on the internet if it was not a problem in the gmc sierra trucks.some claim it is a faulty circuit board while others have lost the use of their brakes. This is of great concern. This occurs while driving and the vehicle is in motion and sometimes at high speeds on a freeway.

I been having a problem with the exhaust manifold bolts breaking off. I spent a ton of money replacing o2 sensors over the last 4 years. I've just currently found out that the o2 sensors were not bad, it was actually the exhaust header bolts breaking allowing my emission system to malfunction. I've had 3 bolts replaced 2 months ago at a tidy cost of $1000.00. One week ago i was driving down the road and smelled exhaust fumes in my truck cab. I took my truck to my mechanic and he found 3 more bolts on the right side of the engine broken off. Not only am i without a vehicle (because at this time i cannot afford the repair) i think general motors should correct my problem and pay for previous repairs. This is poor workman ship on their part not to mention a serious safety hazard. All gm trucks manufactured between 1999 and 2007 with v-8 engines have this problem. Gm should man up to this issue and recall and repair the faulty exhaust manifold bolt problem. I for one think this could be a safety issue and environmental concern. My truck cannot pass anenvironmental emissions test at this time.

Right rear manifold bolt broke allowing exhaust leak with accompanying noise.repairs were made with subsequent failure.dealers declined any type of warranty or other assistance.subject bolt has failed for third time.

2000 gmc k2500 leaking water into engine.is the extended life anti-freeze to blame?have heard reports of this. Does gm have recall for this problem?.

Was driving on a local road. Brake pedal went to floor. Was able to stop and drive it home. The line above the gas tank was corroded and had to be replaced. Same thing happened in dec.2011. This time the line was corroded against the frame leading to the abs module. This repair hasn't been completed because of expense. I plan to replace the remainder of the lines because they are rusting inside the engine compartment leading to the master cylinder.

For approximately 2 years now (since 2005),my 2000 gmc fuel gauge fluctuates regardless how much fuel is in the tank. I can be at highway speed and gauge will go to empty and remain there until i place the shifter into neutral and gauge needle will move to fuel level. I've have gone to gmc and chevrolet service depts. And both said they are aware of this problem and that i would need to purchase and adapter kit for around $150. I believe that this defective gauge problem should be recalled since there are many trucks with this problem and i believe general motors is aware of this since dealers have been having these types of trucks taken in for this repair making it known that there are many more out there. This is very unsafe especially when pulling an 9000 lb. Fifth down the interstate at night and not knowing how much fuel you have and second having to place the shifter into neutral to make it go back up. When truck is in park and idling and gauge will go to empty regardless of how much fuelremains there until the shifter is placed in neutral. Please help in any way possible , i feel this is very dangerous since i have my family with me when i travel.

Badly rotting/corroded brake lines.one has now burst.brake pedal goes to the floor.there was no warning.no warning light now or prior to the failure.

While driving the wheels do not spin at a uniform speed which causes the vehicle to spin out of control, one one occasion while driving in icy conditions consumer tried different transmission setting but the vehicle continued to slide across the road, a missing wheel speed sensor was installed but that did not resolve the problem with the uneven acceleration and swerving.nlm

2000 gmc sierra, 3/4 ton, pickup, seat belt does not work.

Dt:the caller says there isa piece of metal on the left side of the driver's seat that cuts into the seat and his clothes. Hehad the seat replaced twice, but not the piece of metal. It is located where he pivots the seat back. The caller says the metal is real sharp. He sa did not know what was causing the rips until a week ago. Dealer and manufacturer said the vehicle is out of warranty and they will not fix it for free.

Brake lines rusted to point of replacement

The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 2500. While driving approximately 35 mph, the rear of the vehicle slightly lowered towards the ground. The vehicle was driven with caution to the contact's residence. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that that the driver side main frame rail was fractured in the center. Additionally, the passenger side main rail was partially fractured. The failure was beyond repair. The contact mentioned that the brake line and rear cross member near the fuel tank were completely corroded. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

Was using my truck to tow another car on a trailer at the time.went to stop from about 40 mph.my brake pedal went right to the floor.without warning.found that all brake lines on the truck were rusted and had blown out.

I purchased this truck used and was able to use for a bout a month before both rear spring perches broke allowing the springs to rest under the pickup body, after replacing them the brake lines ruptured because of rust another poor quality product from gm !

Steel brake line ruptured under truck causing loss of brakes while towing a boat.

Power steering pump shaft broke, hydro boost system that controls brakes failed.the power steering pump was replaced and it failed again within a month.

I was turning around in my driveway, when suddenly the brake peddle went to the floor and all braking power was lost. Tried pumping the brakes multiple times with no success. There was no warning (lights or otherwise) before the incident, and no dash lights lit during the incident either.

Consumer states that anti-lock brakes are overly "sensitive".if vehicles travels over minor bumps on roadway, abs engages causing increased stopping distance. Ts

I was returning home from lexington ky when i came around a curve there were two deer in the road. I hit the brakes hard and the pedal went to the floor. I hit one of the deer with a glancing blow. There was no damage to my truck and the deer ran away. Thank god i was not in lexington when this happened and the deer was not a child. I am 72 years old and i don't have the money or the energy to make this repair. Last year my son was backing his 2001 silverado to the lake to load a boat when this same thing happened. The truck went into the water up to the cab before he got it into another gear. After a 1100.00 repair he traded for a ford. General motors needs to be held accountable for this defect

Rusted brake lines causing brake failure.in dealer now for repair. A costly repair due to the fact that they were engineered on the truck to never be replaced as the dealer needs to lift the truck cab off the truck to replace..feel this corrosion and failure is premature as i have had older vehicles that had hardly any corrosion or have failed. I was lucky that i did not get hurt or my family.

Wet surface. Two similar wrecks in two different chevy pickups. One a 1994 and the other in a 2000 gmc. Trying to stop, standing on the brakes, while both of these vehicles accelerated into the rear of the vehicle in front of me. Following the last incident, i went straight to a large empty parking lot and duplicated the acceleration while standing on brakes.

Brakes start anti lock feature when approaching stop, greatly lengthening the stopping distance.....this is repeat of same problem recalled in oct 2005, resolution of which was to clean the components...well they get rusty again and the same problem is back....note that brakes are terrible on this vehicle, all components have been previously replaced including both rusted out brake lines(july 2009, 55745 miles, $1684.03).

Lost brakes while backing up nd had to stop suddenly-brake pedal went to floor and had put vehicle in drive to stop.set e-brake to hold. Moved vehicle to my driveway to check problem. Brake lines to abs block broke. Lines for front and rear brakes broke due to corrision. Removed lines and found all lines except lines on rear axle failed. Replaced all seven lines.

The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 2500. The contact stated that the brake lines were rusted, causing a resistance in braking and an increase in stopping distance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and after inspection, both brake lines and calipers were replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000.

Brake line failure due to corroded brake lines on a 2000 gmc sierra 2500 pick -up truck, luckily it happened pulling out of the drive way and not on the highway, see that there are hundreds of complaints about the same problem, something needs to be done before someone gets killed ! if not so already !

In the last week of october, 2009, my father and i were pulling a bumper hitch camping trailer when the truck brakes failed. We were able to limp the rest of the way home by using the emergency brake and the electric assist brakes on the camper. When we had the brakes inspected, we were told that the metal brake lines on the drivers side of the vehicle had corroded inside the frame, next to the gas tank. The brake line was replaced and no further incident has arisen.

Brake failure due to corrosion of hydraulic brake lines.

No incident yet...extensive rust on brake lines near engine...also excessive rust pitting on brake rotors.gm dealer says caused by salt..truck is 2000 model with less than 60,000 miles.i am afraid brake lines may rupture prematurely due to excessive rust and pitting.independent mechanics verify my feelings.

At low stopping speeds abs brakes kick in and cannot stop.

Front brake line burst!

The contact owns a 2000 gmc k2500. The contact referenced a recall but the recall number was unknown. The contact spoke with the dealer and the manufacturer and both stated that the recall repair had previously been performed in 2005. While approaching a stop sign at 5 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and it went to the floorboard. The contact released the brakes and applied them again. The failure continued intermittently. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000. The current mileage was approximately 85,000.

Badly rotting/corroded brake lines.one has now burst.brake pedal goes to the floor.there was no warning.no warning light now or prior to the failure.

The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 2500.while driving between 3-10 mph the abs activated when the brake was depressed.he also stated that the brake pedal would not go down no matter how he pressed.the vehicle continued moving forward.there is a recall for the service brakes (recall# 05v379000).the contact stated that he disabled the abs by removing the fuse.the failure mileage was 74,000 and the current mileage was 110,000.

Periodically, without warning, the brakes malfunction on my 2000 gmc sierra pickup.after the brakes are applied, the vehicle begins slowing, then you can feel a sensation of the braking action releasing, no mater how hard the brake pedal is pressed. The sensation is like some of the brakes have let go and are not longer being applied.i have had no accidents but there have been several tense close situations at tee intersection, which could have been very bad.this has occurred since the vehicle was new.we have had it in for correction several times, but it has not been corrected.it seems to be a problem in the abs system.gmc and their representatives were unable to find the problem while the age and mileage of the vehicle were within the warranty limits and now do not want to pay for any diagnosis of the problem and possibly any correction.the last incident occurred on february 17, 2007.

The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 2500. While driving approximately 5 mph and applying pressure to the brake pedal it began to vibrate. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to berepaired or for diagnostic testing. The dealer was contacted and stated that there was a recall on the brakes, nhtsa campaign id number: 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock) but the vin was not included. The contact stated the failure occurred every time pressure was applied to the brake pedal. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

Sometimes brake pedal getsvery hard and brakes do not want to stop vehicle.the consumer believed that the vehicle abs activated too soon which greatly increased the stopping distance.the problem has occurred with light braking as well.the vehicle was taken to the dealer but they were unable to duplicate the problem.

The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 2500.the abs system intermittently activates without warrant. This condition caused the brakes to lock.on one occasion when this failure occurred, the brake pedal fell completely to the floor. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection.the technician stated the wheel speed sensor exhibited excessive corrosion.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for repair service. The failure mileage was 112,000.the current was 112,759.

The brakes lock up causing the vehicle to skid, the consumer must allow extra time to stop even when traveling at low speeds.nlm

The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 2500.the contact stated that the vehicle has a leak in the brake line that flows below the framework.this failure causes the vehicle to lose braking ability.while driving 35 mph in dry conditions, the contact had to depress the brake pedal to the floorboard in order to stop the vehicle.the contact brought the vehicle to the dealer who found recall # 00v345000 for the service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings.the contact's vehicle is excluded from the recall.he adds brake fluid everyday to ensure the vehicle stops properly.the current and failure mileages were 100,000.

2000 gmc 2500 sierra brake lines rusting through at frame clip near left front wheel. All brake lines very rusted.

Front crossmember welds severely rusted and rotted out. Crossmember about ready to break loose from frame.front frame rails severely rusted and rotted out.front suspension parts severely rusted and rotting away.rear frame severely rusted and rotted out.shock mounts about ready to break loose from frame.absolutely unacceptable and pathetic for a 13 year old, 32,000 dollar truck to be un-drivable and in this condition.

Power steering pump shaft broke, hydro boost system that controls brakes failed.the power steering pump was replaced and it failed again within a month.

Making u-turn and power assist went out suddenly making steering impossible, vehicle was towed to dealer.

Gmc truck frames cracking, rotting out, braking due to poor design and coating and gm won't step up and take responsibility as toyota has. The consumer gets an unsafe vehicle because of frames giving out well before the body, the frames should be strong. In under 2 years the frame went from strong and safe to now rusted up scrap metal. American quality should be of great standards in my up most opinion being an army veteran. General motors should compansate owners or buy them back as toyota has.

Firestone steel tex (dot vn11 b1c) tire original equipment, 35000 miles mounted on a gmc, 2500, hd 2000.left rear tire had a tread separation while consumer was driving at 65 mph. Whole tread sidewall was missing.there was no damage to vehicle.

Engine check light has come on at least 6 different occasions.the dealer reported an assigned reason for the failure each time. Then on the last occurrece they did not even trouble-shoot the failure. Instead they reprogrammed the prom for the engine.immediately after this my fuel economy went for 12-14 mpgto 8-9 mpg, the engine idle is rough (sometimes almost stalls) and on occasion there is a fuel smell.after complaining about these items the dealer "can not find anything wrong"gmc has refused all my attemps to have a regional support manager contact me.in addition to this the fuel pump has made a loud buzzing noise ( you can hear inside the vehicle with the windows up). The dealer said this was "normal".
