Air bag sensor went out.4th alternator was replaced on 6 jan 14; three others were replaced between 9 mar2012 and 6 jan 14.resistor for air conditioning replaced on 9 jul 13.front hubs failed twice requiring their replacement within six months.front brake pads replaced twice in 16 months and 10,718 miles.check engine light has stayed on continuously during this time, even after reset on four occasions.

While traveling on the highway we hit black ice and ultimately ended up with a front impact which turned into a 2 time vehicle rollover. Both front seat belts and buckled during the rollover and did not lock and neither of the airbags in front when off at any point during the collision

While driving 30 mph, the consumer collided with the vehicle in front of his.upon impactboth frontal air bags failed to deploy.the driver's seat belt failed to retract. This caused the driver to sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.please provide further details..

Three broken manifold bolts. From what i hear this is a common occurrence. The broken one close to firewall, will have to pull engine to fix. There should be a recall on these manifold bolts.

The truck has several broken exhaust manifold studs that are completely rusted out causing failure of correct emission controls through the catalytic converter, andout of the headers instead. This is environmentally unfriendly, and is really annoying as the exhaust leaks from under the hood due to lack of bolts on the exhaust manifold.

Battery light came on in message center and engine cut off, disabling steering and brakes.nearly avoided accident on highway as vehicle had to cut over to lanes into dirt shoulder to stop. Ve crankshaft sensor had to be replaced, and a new diagnostic code entered in the vehicle.found 3 other odi'swith exact same problem, 10159068,10174007, and 10164369.

Truck was stalling maybe three times a year approx. 3 years ago.doesn't register any codes. Approx. 1 month ago started stalling daily.

2002 gmc sierra 2500hd 6.0l 4x4. The 6.0l engine is knocking constantly, and from doing some research. This is a very common issue and needs to be resolved.dealer said it is normal! since when is an engine knocking, normal?

I have a gmc 2500hd 4x4 with the 8.1 liter engine in the past year it has stalled and then restarted itself 5 or 6 times one time i had to sit for about 6 minutes before it would restart.

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle stalled while in gear on four occasions.the vehicle had not been to a service dealer to resolve the issue.the contact expressed concern that this was a defect.the crankshaft position sensor was replaced. Updated 12/15/06.

I have a 2002 gmc sierra 2500hd pickup with the vortec 8.1 engine. I am experiencing the same crank position sensor failure as experienced in the 2001 model year recall (safety recall # 06083). I am not alone, as many many others are having the same issues in their 2002-2004 pickup trucks. I believe the nhtsa should extend safety recall # 06083 to include model years 2002 to 2004, as some models manufactured in canada frequently use parts from previous us model years. My vehicle is not safe to operate on the highways as a result. Please advise.

2002 gmc sierra stalls while at freeway speeds and normal driving. 2 near accidents, sometimes the engine will crank with a no start condition. Killed one of my ac delco batteries. Had to replace battery and crank position sensor.

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle stalled on three occasions.all incidents occurred during acceleration while traveling 25 to 35 mph.there were no warnings prior to the incidents and the vehicle had no problems restarting.the dealer could not duplicate or resolve the problem.updated 11/16/2006 - there were subsequent problem restarting the vehicle, and as many as 3 to 5 stalling episodes per week.not all incidents occurred while traveling.some incidents occurred while at idle, and at a stop.complete loss of power steering and brakes occurred when the vehicle stalled.the dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty crankshaft sensor and replaced it.recently the check engine light has illuminated.the dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty transmission selector position sensor and replaced it.the abs activated while driving on dry pavement.the dealer found it necessary to replace both front abs wheel speed sensors.

2002 gmc sierra 2500hd. Consumer states problem with vehicle engine *tgwthe consumer stated the engine would shut down while driving, loosing all power to the steering and brakes, and could not be started again, until the truck was put in park and the key removed from the ignition. There were also times, when the truck would not start at all.the dealer kept the truck for three weeks and they were unable to duplicate the problem. When the consumer picked the truck up and drove 10 miles, it shut down again. The consumer believed the problem was fuel related.

I have a 2002 gmc sierra 2500hd with the 8.1l engine that is exhibiting the exact same symptoms that led to the recall of the 2001 model. (nhtsa # 07v521000). One minute i'll be driving down the freeway and the next minute the engine will stop running. This has happened numerous times. Sometimes it'll restart before it comes to a stop. Sometimes it will take several minutes after it's come to a stop. I've researched it on-line, and it would appear that this problem is not restricted to the 2001 models. The date i've listed is when i first remember it happening. It's very intermittent. It's getting worse.

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle stalled while in gear or in the idle position.this was a consistent problem for over one and a half years.the vehicle was taken to the service dealer in april as well, and the problem could not be identified.

The brakes pushed backand there was a thumping noise coming from the master cylinder.the contact looked up information from the nhtsa website and found that a recall 05v379000had been issued for this vehicle. The contact said that he tookvehicle to the dealership, and was told that this vehicle did not fall under the recalldue to vin.the inner tie rod had excessive play, the front differential seal was leaking from the vent cap, the daytime running light bulb was inoperative. The consumer denied to have repairs made.updated 01/29/07.

The contact owns a 2002 gmc 2500 hd diesel. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited an unknown internal fuel leak that would overflow into the crank case. The manufacturer was contacted but would not provide any assistance.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 90,981. Updated 02/01/11*ljupdated 03/24/11

Noticed something leaking under truck in front of fuel tank. Fuel line leaking at connections above fuel cooler (lines look good but all connections are badly rusted) dealer wants $1,700.00 to repair, says there is no recall.

The contact owns a 2002 gmc sierra 2500 hd. The contact noticed fuel leakage on the rear bumper of his vehicle. Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source increased the risk for a fire hazard. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility in which a mechanic concluded that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle has not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were 81000.

The contact owns a 2002 gmc sierra 2500 hd. The contact stated that his fuel injectors have failed. The dealer confirmed that the injectors were bad and five out of eight are leaking fuel which have a high return fuel rate. There are no related recalls orwarranties. The contact was denied the warranty coverage that is 7 years 200,000 miles from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 96,386.

Due to a crack in the fuel tank vehicle failed emissions.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Smells gasoline every time filled up tank.looked from under the truck and saw the fuel filler neck is rusted with a big crack that allow gas vapor to escape.looked online and saw that 2003 gmc vans have a recall for this same problem.

Noticed something leaking under truck in front of fuel tank. Fuel line leaking at connections above fuel cooler (lines look good but all connections are badly rusted) dealer wants $1,700.00 to repair, says there is no recall.

Driving into driveway applied brakes , pedal went right to the floor no warning light or any indication of a problemgot out of truck and found fluid dripping off frame by fuel tank.ruptured line above tank on frame, other brake lines also look corroded.after some research i found this to be a common problem on gm trucks . Owners need to be made aware of this problem before someone is seriously hurt. I believe gm should be forced to repair the defective lines.

While traveling with the tailgate down i ran over a speed bump and the tailgate came loose and was hanging by the safety cables. The right hinge point was bent and could not be straightened. Will replace both hinge points.

I have replaced 1 cable on my 2002 gmc at 28000 mile and have anther one that broke recently at 33000 mile but haven't replaced yet.

I was parked in a friends driveway and was about to leave when i released the parking brake stepped on the brake pedal and put my 2002 gmc 2500hd truck into gear. I started driving down the street and approached a stop sign, when i applied the brakes the pedal went straight to the floor. I pulled off to the side of the road and opened the hood when i noticed brake fluid all over the frame in the engine compartment. Upon further investigation i found all the brake lines to be severely rusted and at least one of them ruptured. I was driving with my 9 month old son at the time of the incident and thank god nobody was coming the other way down the road. I had the truck towed to my home where it sits awaiting a total brake line replacement. The underneath of the truck is so severely rusted i think gmc is liable and should issue a recall to correct the problem.

The allison 1000 with the duramax diesel, during the cold weather the transmission will slip from first to second gear. This will only happen when the transmission is cold. I spoke to my transmission shop and they said the solution to this is to flush the transmission and refill with a pure synthetic transmission fluid for a cost of about $ 400.00.should there be a recall about this or a service bulliten.

Went out to the truck to go to work and the truck wouldn't move.transmission line leaking out all fluid.corroded and had to be replace just like the brake lines.

Dt: the contact complained about abrake problem.rear rotors rusted. Dealership said that this was normal wear for the rear rotors.the gm customer service told him to take it back to the dealer, and all they would tell him was that he needed to replace rotors and rear brake padsbecause they could not turn themover.left rear axle seal leaked.the slip yoke and rear u-joint on the rear driveshaft were replaced because they were causing a chattering feeling when the wheel was turned.

Limited slip differential causing loss of control on icy roads.i recently lost control of my truck while driving about 45mph on an icyhighway in boulder, co.because the loss was so instantaneous resulting in the truck spinning 90 degrees to the direction of travel, i question if the limited slip function would cause power to transfer to a wheel if it suddenly hit dry pavement, while the other wheel was spinning on ice, resulting in a spin out.this is only my theory but with 57 years of driving experience and the fact that i have had weird experiences with limited slip differentials in the past i thought my theory may have some validity.my concern is that there are millions vehicles with limited slip differentials on the road and if my theory is valid, perhaps many accidents are being caused by this option (which came as part of a package when i purchased my truck).

I own a 2002 gmc sierra 4 x 4 crew cab duramax diesel pick-up truck. For the last 2 years i've had a condition that felt like a tire was out of balance. This was just after i replaced all tires. This year i replaced all the tires again and the condition still exists. We went through the process of elimination, changing a wheel that was a little out of round, re-balancing and rotating the new tires 4 different times and couldn't eliminate the problem. I then put the vehicle up on a hoist and put the transmission in gear to check for drive line vibrations and found that the rear drive shaft was bent. After taking the truck back to my dealership and confirming the problem with them, a search was run of all the salvage facilities for a used shaft and found that there were none available. Furthermore, every salvage yard that was contacted claimed that this drive shaft, gm part #15109384 was in high demand and as soon as one came in on a wreck, it was immediately sold. This shaft is installed on 2000 to 2007 models. My dealership also admitted that mine was not the first bent drive shaft that has come into their facility. To purchase a new shaft is almost $900. A used one is much less, if you can find one. I worked with gm truck in quality control for 31 years and it is my experience that when a used part can not be purchased through a salvage yard due to high replacement demand, there is usually a cover up going on. Please look into this matter. By the way, my shaft had no visible evidence of damage anyplace. I believe that the shaft may not be able to handle the torque of the engine and will, in time, bend. My truck has 99,000 miles on it now, but the problem started sometime around 60,000.

Approaching a stop light of a 55 mph road and applied the brakes.the truck failed to stop.i went through the red light but did not hit any other cars.

Was heading down the street, coming to a stop sign. Slowing down, got to about 9 mph, and then the brake pedal went to the floor, and was unable to stop in time and went into the intersection and finally stopped 30 feet after the stop sign with the brake pedal all the way on the floor. Got the truck home, somewhat safely, and found out that all of the brake lines were rusted, and ended up having to replace all of the lines due to them crumbling when touching them.

Pulling out of my driveway onto the street. Applied the brakes when reaching the end of the driveway and brake pedal when completely to the floor. Was able to stop, being that i was only going around 2 mph at the time. When i got out of the truck, i saw a large amount of brake fluid on the driveway from a burst brake line.

I had an unexpected brake failure caused by the rust through of the brake line under the driver seat.it was fortunate that i was in a parking lot and going at a slow speed at the time.i had to replace the entire brake line system as there was rust on all the lines.the repair cost was $741.89.i have had other gm vehicles, and have never experienced this type of failure before.

Vehicle is a 2002 gmc hd 2500 pickup truck with a duramax diesel engine, and 5 speed allison transmissionwhile driving on surface streets, the power brakes and steering both went out simultaneously.stopping required both feet on pedal, and steering was nearly impossible.problem traced to the "hydroboost" and the power steering pump.both were replaced along with the high pressure hose.evidently, the pump failed to yield any boost pressure, which in turn rendered power steeling and brakes inoperative.a very dangerous situation.the tow truck that responded indicated that they have had multiple failures of the same items (87 ot 8 gmc hd trucks) and in blogs with other gmc/chevy diesel owners it appears to be a common defect.there were no noises, or other indicator of pending problems.contact with the dealer revealed that " i should change the ps fluid every 2 years: (not in the maintenance section of owner manual).

The contact owns a 2002 gmc sierra 2500 hd. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the brakes failed without warning. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.

Rotted out brake lines @ 118,000 miles . Should be a recall . No accident but was pulling my boat at time of failure. Could have been a very bad accident . Just finished changing all the brake lines what a job. Between this n the injectors this truck was a poor value. All done with gm had too many problems with their trucks with no support from gm or it's dealers. Lost lifetime customer.

The vehicle was parked on a 35-40 degree sloped driveway. Got in, stepped on brake, started vehicle, released emergencybrake, shift into reverse, and brake pedal went to the floor, with truck rolling backwards. Wheel was turned, and truck hit a side of retaining wall. It did not roll back excessively fast, but it could not stop in time to avoid hitting the wall.found badly corroded brake lines. One had ruptured right behind the driver's front wheel fender well.

A brake line ruptured causing loss of stopping power.truck was not able to slow enough to make originally-planned turn.truck was safely returned home using emergency brake and engine braking.upon inspection, a leaking brake line was found between the master cylinder and abs module.all brake lines were found to be severely corroded.no warning lights illuminated on the dash.

The contact owns a 2002 gmc sierra 2500 hd. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph, when the brake pedal was depressed and the brakes failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Rear brake line rusted out over fuel tank where line runs on top of frame rail. All brake lines rusted. Also fuel lines rusted. Can or will fail at anytime. May cause an accident. No brake failure light!!!!

Rear steel brake line failure while in parking lot, complete loss of braking ability

2002 gmc sierra 2500hd 4x4 4dr complete brake failure when moving vehicle at hunt camp.brake pedal went completely to floor.rusted brake lines blew under drivers door location.local mechanic replaced lines from master cyl. To abs device.if this had happened the day before, with truck loaded with supplies ,eqpt.,and towing an atv on a trailer,no way couldi have stopped that vehicle!i still need to replace all remaining rusted lines going to wheels.

I was exiting my driveway, which is very steep, the brake pedal went to the floor with no warning, lamps or otherwise. My vehicle surged across both lanes and wound up in the woods.

Was traveling on a straight stretch of road approaching a red light. As i attempted to apply the brakes the brake pedal went straight to the floor - the vehicle would not stop. I then dropped the transmission from "d" or drive to "l1", engaged the "tow setting" of the transmission, and applied the parking brakes while maintaining the parking disengagement lever in the "up" position in order to stop the truck. The brakes failed.gm dealership confirmed that the brake lines had rusted through. The entire brake system froze in place resulting in the replacement of the lines, rotors, discs.

Backing my truck down a boat launch to put a pwc in.as i applied the brake at the bottom of the ramp, the pedal went to the floor, losing all brakes.since i was close to the water, by the time i got it into forward, it was already over the edge of the ramp into the water.submerged up to the bottom of the roof.a total loss.

The truck would not stop at stop sign and the brake goes clear to the floor before slows to a stop.

I had been driving for 15-20 miles both on and off the highway and the vehicle stopped fine.i was traveling at about 60 mph and was coming up on highway traffic that was at a standstill .i stepped on the brake peddle and it went strait to the floor, absolutely no brakes at all and no even a hint this was about to happen.i was able to swerve out of the way, narrowly missing the vehicle in front of me, and used the transmission and e brake to get the vehicle stopped on a grassy shoulder.had a vehicle been next to me or a less experienced driver been behind the wheel, it may have been a much worse outcome .i know at least 10 people who own similar vehicles and everyone has had a brake line failure at some point.gm needs to step up and cover this before someone else get hurt or killed!

Brakes went out no warning, after looking on drivers side seat under truck where fluid was running out saw where brake line was rusted and it busted. So i took several pictures and called gmc, they in turn towed my truck to auffenberg of carbondale, illinois at no charge. At this time i started researching the rusted brake problem and found where alan adler (manager product safety communications) for gm said on (abc news rusted brake lines)where they were offering a (kit) to have the rusted brake lines repaired for a cost to us of $500.00. So now today 06/05/2014 my truck is done at a cost of$1188.05 to me for the dealer knows nothing of this. I have tried to contact alan adler through gm and no one knows who he is, i have sent many complaints and talked with many people and no one seems to know what i am talking about. My ref.# [xxx] with the complaint dept. So if this man can say on the news that they have this kit and that all the dealers were told about it how can they lie and charge the people what they want. Thank youinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was driving my 2002 gmc sierra 2500 hd on i95 when traffic came to a sudden stop.i slammed on the brakes at which point the abs system started pulsing the brakes, but the brake pedal suddenly went to the floor with no further brake response.thankfully, the brakes slowed the truck enough prior to failure to prevent a collision at 65 mph.i hit the car in front of me at ~5-10 mph, causing bumper damage to my truck and the car in front of me.i was able to get the car to the side of the road and to my horror i had no brakes.the vehicle was towed to a local authorized gmc dealer who has maintained the truck for me.they confirmed that the brake lines catastrophically failed when i slammed on the brakes.the rusted brake lines burst when i slammed on the brakes.they indicated that all of the brake lines had to be replaced do to rust throughout.i can't believe i have been driving this truck around with a pending catastrophic brake failure without warning from gm or the servicing dealer.if the word is not put out to owners of affected gmc truck, lives will be lost.i shudder to think what could have happened if i had been pulling up to a pedestrian filled crosswalk when the failure occurred.updated 10/03/12*lj

Brakes failed while driving down road.all brake lines are severely rusted.is their a galvanic reaction between lines and truck that is causing this?have never had brake lines rust as badly on other vehicles that were older than this one.

Steel brake line ruptured with no warning under the drivers side floor panel. It was the line from the master cylinder to the anti-lock brake actuator. Read dozens of online postings about this being a huge problem and was encouraged to report it.safely stopping the truck (empty) was very hard and i couldn't imaging what would have happened if i had been pulling a trailer, which is very common on this truck.

No brakes! pedal to the floor. Rusted brake lines.

Wheel speed sensors corroded, anti-lock brakes malfunction at low speed.

Depressed ab brakes to avoid deer, brake went all the way to floor board before stopping.brake lines corroded and had to be replaced.

Brake lines burst under heavy braking due to accident avoidance situations. First time the rear line burst, second time the front left line burst by the abs unit.

During routine maintenance in the shop the truck was started to move it and the brake line burst near the point the brake line exits the frame rail near the rear axle. All rear braking was lost. If this had occurred on the highway it could have been a catastrophic event.

Brake failure due to rusted brake line, truck lost all brake fluid!

Right rear brake of 2002 gmc siverado 2500hd does not release completely. Rim gets hot and brakes smoke. Gm dealer on second service problem installed covers over the brakes to keep road grim out. This does not seem to fix the problem. Just dropped off truck for the third time with the same issues and they can not find any problems. Rim is destroyed due to heat and brake dust. Truck has 11,000 miles on it

Brake line failure due to rust. All brake lines had to be replaced.

Backing up to my trailerwhen my brake lines blew out on my 2002 gmc sierra 2500 hd. Also underneath of truck is soo rusted and bottom of doors are also rusting through.

Experience unwanted antilock brake system (abs) activation. This can cause increased stopping distances during low-speed brake applications, which could result in a crash.

I was plowing snow on the common driveway that i share with 3 other neighbors and came around a bend to meet my neighbor's son on his atv. I slammed on the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. Fortunately the pile of snow in front of the plow helped stop my truck. The atv operator dodged in to the snow bank. There was no contact. I found that i had multiple brakeline failures on my truck. I have had a previous brake line failure in 2008 but could not find the work order for repairs to verify date and mileage.

Abs triggers for no apparent reason when applying brakes to my 2002 gmc sierra 2500 hd.i'm told there was some type of a recall due t corrosion of an abs wheel speed sensor, but no dealer will speak to me.

Started my vehicle so could move it in front of my garage. When i tried to turn the steering wheel wouldn't move and i had very limited braking power. It took an exceptional amount of pressure on the brake pedal just to stop the vehicle at a very low speed. Thankfully no one was hurt and no property damage occurred.

Abs sensor in front wheel hub develops rust, activating the abs system every time brake is applied.occurs everytime brake is applied and vehicle is in motion.trying to find replacement sensor, as gm part is not available.

Brake lines are severely corroded and look ready to fail, and i find out that this is a common complaint and all the brake lines should and must be replaced by general motors. The gmc and chevrolet 2500hd models are notorious for this malady, and the ntsb should do their job and force gm to replace at no charge, the vehicles brake lines.

Gmc sierra 2500 hd 2002rotted brake lines failure caused $4500 in damage to the truck .wrist injury to my wife. Oil and tranny fluid all over driveway stained. $5000 in damage to my vw beetle resulting in a total loss to this vehicle!!!!

I have a 2002 gmc sierra 2500hd pickup truck that is exhibiting abs braking problems at low speeds.the abs system will engage and disengage at low speeds on perfectly dry driving surfaces.i was informed by a friend that he thought gmc had a recall on this issue.i researched on the web and found a recall that described this situation exactly.i contacted the local dealer and they said there was no outstanding recalls for my vehicle.i then contacted gmc directly (from a phone number listed on one of the web obtained recall notices) and they ran my vin and said that my truck was not covered by the recall.i want to know how to get my truck and similar trucks included in the recall that apparently did not include my specific vehicle.

Three brake lines ruptured simultaneously causing an inability to stop the vehicle. The cause of failure was related to an extensive amount of corrosion on all of the brake lines on the vehicle. Complete replace is necessary. There is a regional recall on this exact issue but does not include my state. There are considerable reports of this failure across the country but gm and even worse nhtsa fails to force a nationwide recall of this potentiality deadly failure. A simple search of the internet will prove this defect is not constrained to only the rust belt states. My '66 chevy still has the original brake lines with no signs of degradation however my '02 gmc requires the replacement of all metal lines on the vehicle. The existence of a current regional recall proves that gm admits to the problem! this failure needs to be corrected nationwide.*ln

The anti-lock brakes system failed. While braking at approximately 2-10 mph, the brakes lock up.this lock-up occurs at all stop situations.the lock-up causes skidding, and longer stopping distance.

The contact owns a 2002 gmc 2500hd. The contact stated the braking system and speed sensor has failed. The sensor was replaced by the dealer under warranty previously and now the sensor has failed again. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. Due to the sensor failure the vehicle is not driveable. Abs brake sensor failure. At low speeds the abs work even when wheels are not locked up. The first time i experienced this was pulling a 7000lb trailer. I had to divert the truck and trailer onto the shoulder to avoid plowing into traffic in front of me. This appears to be a very expensive repair to make, replacing the front wheel hub assemblies. Currently we have had to disconnect one of the abs sensors to keep the abs from activating.

When i pulled into a left turn lane and tried to apply the brakesthe pedal went nearly to the floor and i hadno brakes luckily there were no other cars on the road or in the intersection at the time so i went on through and there was no accident, i was camping at the time and i got the truck back to the campground when i backed the truck into the campsite and applied the brakes they started working normally, i took the truck to the dealer and they said that they could find nothing wrong they even said that they have had several other vehicles do the same thing and could not find anything wrong with them and that this problem was normal for the vehicle.

Gm recall #05068 anti- lock causing increased stopping distances, gm is only repairing this problem on 1/2 ton products due to the fact it is a simple inexpensive repair. I own a 3/4 ton truck with the exact same problem but due to the fact a repair consists of replacement of the front wheel bearings they (gm) have chosen not to include 3/4 ton in this recall. I have on several occasions had increased stopping distances due to the sensor failure, my dealership said they can repair gm's defect at a price of $800.00 to me.

Upon braking up to a stop sign for instance.the vehicles abs will kick in at the last minute releasing the left front wheel causing the vehicle to dive to the right.this happens in wet or dry condition but is particularly bad in icy conditions.

The contact owns a 2002 gmc sierra 2500 hd.when the contact depressed the brake pedal, the vehicle did not stop immediately.the abs eventually engaged.the dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock).the failure and current mileages were 101,296.

Backing up to my trailerwhen my brake lines blew out on my 2002 gmc sierra 2500 hd. Also underneath of truck is soo rusted and bottom of doors are also rusting through.

A neighbor and i were trying to off load a large rock 500 (lbs) from my truck when we got it to the tailgate the tailgate bent, then the support strap on the drivers side broke sending my neighbor and i and the rock to the ground. I feel that this is a problem that you should look into. Thanks [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Backing up to my trailerwhen my brake lines blew out on my 2002 gmc sierra 2500 hd. Also underneath of truck is soo rusted and bottom of doors are also rusting through.

Front wheel bearings degraded to the point that entire wheel was loose from hub.when on a jack could move the wheel several inches in or out of wheel housing with minimal hand pressure.repair agency indicated that there was a distinct possibility that, if undetected, this condition could have created a situation leading to a serious accident (affect to steering/control).the second front wheel bearing experienced the same defect approximately 8 months later, even after being inspected at the time of the other failure.

Within 60 days of purchase (01/19/2002 i reported to the selling dealer (dennis dillon gmc, boise, id) that the hitch box was extremely loose allowing the towing hitch to move both vertically and horizontally when installed on the truck.having over 12 years experience in the rv industry i knew it to be worry some. I pressed the point such that a regional rep looked at it. The eventual response was that the hitch was built to specification and they felt nothing was wrong.annual inspection of receiver hitch (trailer hitch) in early 2006 showed a marked twist of the receiver box that the trailer hitch shank rides in. Closer inspection of the hitch box showed a separation at the forward end of the hitch box and a pronounced distortion of the weep holes in the torque tube (cross member).i photographed the old hitch and replaced it with a new eaz lift hitch on 4/14/2006.

Consumer noticed that the hitch was dramatically bent upwards and immediately unhitched the trailer.a visual inspection revealed that the center round tube section of the hitch was twisting and the receiver was definitly pointed up.consumer had to purchase an after market hitch to make it to the destination.consumer is attempting to get reimbursed for the replacement hitch.*jg

Heard noise when towing trailer and i stop. A brief inspection of the receiver hitch installed on vehicle showed broken welds and tearing metal due to the broken welds. I called gmc to report safety issue and have repaired. They didn't have any hitches in stock and said they would not pay for the repair. I told them the seriousness of this problem with no response. This is a manufacture defect not a wear or abuse issue and could potentially cause a very serious incident including a fatality. I have the case # that i was given by the customer service rep. I will replace the hitch this week and save the old part.
