Airbag did not deploy during high speed accident but chemical filled the cab. Service airbag message was then displayed and a notification from onstar received indicating airbag service needed.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the air conditioner started blowing hot air instead of cold air. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that a leak was found on the a/c compressor. The contact reached out to bob stall chevrolet located at 7601 alvarado rd, la mesa, ca 91942, (619) 460-1311, and notified the dealer of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
Taka recall wireless charger on console does not work with smart phones only on a very select few that are out of date my phone being the galaxy note 9, and my fiancee's phone iphone xr do not charge and frankly the money you pay for this truck to have an accessory option not work is ridiculous
I was driving 50mph and was behind a semi as i started to pass him i noticed an oncoming car and decided there wasnt enough time to pass so i started to push the brake pedal to slow down and get back behind the semi and the brakes locked up which produced an uncontrollable spin in which i did a 180 degree spin and ended up going into the ditch backwards and tipped over on my side no airbags deployed either.
The vehicle was in motion on a city street, when the vehicle completely powered off. The steering wheel locked.this occurred on 11/22/2020 and 11/23/2020.the following message is on my dashboard 'steering assist is reduced drive with care.'
The truck loose power when key is turned off and then come back on after a few minutes also stabilatrack system is shutting off truck once on the highway at 70 mph engine runs ruff and uses oil in less than 5000 miles has use at least 3 quarts the dod system make truck run extremely bad engine has miss in it also it is becoming unsafe to drive at times and brake pedal is very hard to push
Display screen to bright when vehicle is in reverse. When putting vehicle in reverse the backup camera display is so bright you can not see your exterior mirrors or out any of the windows to see surrounding area. This is very unsafe condition because you are blinded while backing up. When took the truck to dealership i was told they can't duplicate this. And have had no other complaints???
On screen display for backup camera.when putting the vehicle in reverse, the on screen display is so bright that you can't see out the windows, the rearview mirrors or the surrounding area. This display does not dim with the rest of the lights. This causes a severe safety hazard when trying to backup the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that ā€hood openā€¯ was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact inspected the hood and confirmed that the hood was securely locked. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.
Driving at approx 55 to 60 mph with rear defrost on. Began to smell a burning/electrical smell, and within 90 seconds heard a loud bang. Rear window (stationary piece on drivers side) had shattered. Smell presumably coming from the rear window defrost component. No warning lights or messages on the truck. My son was sitting in the rear seat at the time so this is a huge safety risk. This has not yet been repaired. Window replacement is scheduled with safelite on 6/8, consult with dealer on rear defrost set for 6/10. Photos are available.
Felt strange brake pulse turned into parking lot and power braking failed. Barely got truck stopped before hitting another car. Truck had to be towed to dealership
1. The transmission shifts extremely rough from 1st to 2nd gear in parking lots at a slow speed and on normal highway or street driving and experiences the same thing while slowing down to stop 2. The engine has recently been having a awkward shake to it while in ideal after it has been running and warm 3. While backing up and turning the wheel, the front suspension will let out a loud clunk sound and the sound will return when turning the wheels back forward after putting it into drive.
On may 26, 2020, my 2017 truck's check engine light appeared.vehicle is in original manufacturer's warranty with 25,000 miles, + or -.truck driven infrequently during "stay-at-home period.took to gmc dealer immediately; read code; indicates all 8 fuel injectors out of tolerance.can't explain why or provide impact to vehicle if driven in this condition. Can't be driven; dealer provided loaner.can't advise if vehicle's engine will cut-of if driven causing unknown issues. Fuel injectors are on back order-no estimate of receipt date!another 2017 gmc truck there with same issue-been there for longer period.gm will not advise dealer when fuel injectors will be received.delay possibly associated with gm strike or virus.if two or more vehicles have problem, is pattern or practice-a systemic issue.gm customer assistance can not provide information.difficult to contact gm corporate offices for assistance.today is three weeks without my vehicle, which i need.gm isnot providing adequate (any) information to its dealer. This out of tolerance fuel injector situation has been noted on gm owner websites; it is not unusual.
The same issue as gm service bulletin pi1513f (radiator leak) has happened on my 2017 gmc sierra. This service bulletin currently covers 2014 - 2016 models and needs to be extended to cover 2017 models (and possibly 2018). This issue is a radiator that leaks on the passenger or drivers side on the wall between the cooling fins and the end of the radiator.
The vehicle was purchased in january 2017, since the purchase of the vehicle, i have had the truck in the shop on 6 occasions.the vehicle has had 5 injectors replaced and the upper oil pan gasket has been replaced twice.gmc is stalling me and not wanting to purchase the vehicle back under the buy back program commonly called the lemon law.the vehicle has an extended warranty and i have been charged a co-pay with the repairs on the vehicle.the issues started after the 30000 mile service.
Our truck is less than three years old with approximately 69000 miles. The transmission just started slipping out of the blue while driving thru a neighborhood.while in drive it would move but once accelerating it would rev up and not change gears. This happened without warning, without an engine or warning light.we do all the necessary regular maintenance. In addition two years ago while the truck was a year old, the brakes went out while driving on the interstate. I guess it was the brake vacuum pump or whatever that didn't allow the brake peddle to be pressed which provided me with no brakes. Again with absolutely no warning!this later became recall issue but not before it had already happened to me! i understand there is a class action law suit against gmc for transmission problems and i would consider being a part of this. This is a 50;000$ and relatively new truck, this is unacceptable!the dealer now wants over 4000$ for repairs.
The vehicle which has under seven hundred miles on it does the following: when i try to accelerate the vehicle starts to misfire, starts to chug and jerk, it starts to hesitate and becomes rough.when i called gmc service department i was told there was a code for this problem #pip5457b but that currently there is no known reason and no known repair and no known computer code to repair the problem.i tried to merge onto the interstate highway and needed to speed up but the truck started to lurch; i nearly got rear ended.i can't drive up a hill in the city or on the interstate and keep up with the flow of traffic because the transmission starts to sputter.my wife and i are afraid to drive this vehicle.we just paid nearly $49,000 for this gmc sierra 2017 and only owned it for one week when this started to happen.it does this all the time. Very dangerous!
The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving, he detected an anti-freeze odor. The contact checked under the hood and became aware that the radiator was cracked. The vehicle was taken to vanguard buick gmc of carrollton (2700 n interstate 35e, carrollton, tx 75007) where the dealer informed the contact that the radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer for the repair. The dealer informed the manufacturer of the failure, and the manufacturer informed the dealer that the contact needed to pay to replace the radiator. The failure mileage was 70,000.## vin passed ## gmc 2017 sierra ##*dt
Radiator leaking and had to be replaced.
My radiator has developed a leak and coolant is escaping when engine is hot. The issue appears to be very similar to the incidents with the 2014-15 model year issue. The problem was diagnosed to be a leaking radiator near the top right side by an independent mechanic.
There is a strong intermittent vibration in the steering column when at speeds of 35-70 mph. It resemble driving over "rumble strips"
Radiator leak at 55000 miles requiring replacement of radiator
Pinhole leak in a/c condenser appears to be a systemic problem in numerous gm vehicles utilizing the same parts.
My truck is just out of warranty, butafter 3 years only 15,000 miles. Chk engine light comes on, dealer says 3 bad fuel injectors.dealer has several other trucks with the same problem.obviously a manufacture problem that i shouldn't have to pay for.also is this an emission system problem?
During night operation with the instrument cluster adjusted to proper brightness the intellilink screen is dangerously bright. The intellilink screen does not have an independent brightness control from the dimmer. When set to off in an attempt to mitigate the problem, the intellilink screen reactivates with subsystem adjustment, e.g. Temperature adjustment, absolutely destroying night vision of the driver. If adjusting the brightness level to acceptable for the center console lighting and intellilink the instrument cluster is so dim that it requires unsafe levels of driver attention to process the dimly lit information. In addition the backup camera is also too bright as well in reverse causing a distraction.gm customer support was notified and confirmed this was as designed without a dimmer and they will file a complaint as per my request.
The passenger side rear turn signal quit operating - the cost for a new one is more than $700

The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would intermittently stall as the instrument panel would draw blank. The contact stated that the vehicle would resume to normal driving within five seconds of the failure. The contact also mentioned that he had injured his left wrist while turning the steering wheel as the vehicle stalled. Landers buick gmc(78 goodman rd e, southaven, ms 38671) was made aware of the defect but have yet offer any assistance. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact had linked that failure to the forward collision warning system. The failure mileage was unknown.

Vehicle has hard shift between first and second gear accelerating and deceleration. I noticed it after about a week of driving it after purchase
While watching the economy mileage window i noticed in the lower right side showing v6 and v4 switching back and forth. As they were switching, i noticed the engine vibrating while showing the v4 in the window. It did not vibratewhile showing the v6 in the window. It did this while i was driving 65 mph(on cruise) on the expressway. I did not notice it during driving in start-stop slower traffic.this has been happening before, but did not figure out the problem until now.
After coming to a complete stop at traffic stop light truck's transmission made a loud "clunk" sound.when attempting to accelerate on the green light truck, initially would not move then it lerched forward but would not shift out of first gear.pulled off main road and into a parking lot where i shifted truck into park and turned off the engine.after waiting a couple of minutes i restarted the truck, shifted into drive and pulled back onto the street, but the truck still would not shift out of first gear.
The vehicle first started vibrating at highway speeds while still under warranty (~15k miles) - i took it into the dealership and they said it was just out of alignment - aligned and rotated tires.this seemed to improve things for a few months until the vibration was back to the untolerable state - upon taking to another service station, they blamed the tires (uneven wear) and i paid for all new tires - only for the vibration to return after another few months.i next took it a 3rd service station and they are claiming a bend wheel that wont fully balance.after researching, i now see that this is a very common issue with a faulty drivetrain, but gmc is not acknowledging the issue??how do i become part of a class action lawsuit in order to get this issue fixed properly?
Unintended accelerationwhen slowing down to come to a stop the vehicle will occasionally engage a lower gear very suddenly and lurch forward.the resulting force is enough to overpower the braking effort being provided by the driver and the vehicle will move forward several feet before the driver can react and apply more braking force to stop the vehicle.the issue occurs randomly and infrequently at very slow speeds (5-10mph).there have been several occasions where ive been braking to stop at a stop light and been forced into the middle of an intersection.im concerned the issue could cause the vehicle to strike the car in front of it or a pedestrian crossing in front of the vehicle as it stops for a crosswalk. Multiple unsuccessful repair attempts have been made by the dealer.i attempted to force the manufacturer to buy the vehicle back from me through the massachusetts lemon law and since that time they have denied the existence of a problem. I have seen several instances online where consumers with the identical vehicle (all with the 8 speed transmission) complained of the same problem.
Almost collided with other cars in parking lot because the brakes weren't working right also transmission shimmies between 50 and 60 mph
When driving at slow parking lot speeds or when coming to a complete stop the vehicle intermittently lunges, surges or jolts, causing the vehicle to move forward or backwards unanticipated. Sometimes the jolt feels like another vehicle has hit this vehicle from the rear, again causing it to lunge forward.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. On several occasions, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. On one occasion, the gear shift lever was placed in reverse and the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the rpms revved without the vehicle responding. The vehicle was taken to greg lair buick gmc (16200 canyon dr, canyon, tx 79015, (806) 553-5706) on two separate occasions; however, the transmission technician was not available to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 33,042.

I had the rotors replaced on my new truck at 6000 miles and paid for repairs out of pocket. I continued to hear brake noise. On my way to the dealership on the weekend i was scheduled to have the brake noise investigated and to have an oil change done, i had catastrophic brake failure. A vehicle in front of me made a lane change into my lane and then slammed on the brakes in front of my vehicle at a green light coming to a complete stop from 40 mph to 0 in the middle of the intersection. A car had pulled out in front of him changing lanes from the left lane to right. I mashed the brake pedal to stop immediately and my brakes went soft and to the floor on the second push. When i wasn't stopping. I slammed my emergency brake with my left foot and injured a few toes on my left foot trying to stop before my vehicle. My vehicle did not come to a complete stop. Instead, my vehicle skidded and lightly tapped the vehicle in front of me doing minor bumper damage to both of our vehicles. However there was a toyota truck behind me, and struck my vehicle directly while i was at a stand still, while the driver was doing over 70 mph when he collided with my sierra. My sierra has the pin or part of the caliper that moves the brake pads, completely pushed the piston into the rotor. The vehicle has had brake issues since i paid to have the brakes and rotors replaced at 6000 miles. I have records of the incident and the brake failure from a mechanic and auto body shop documenting the complete failure of the brakes. Directly after the brakes were replaced within another 8000 miles the brake booster on the vehicle went bad and was replaced as well.
I bought this truck used with 12,918 miles on it, april 2018. When driving(especially on highway), and changing speeds, transmission clunks and lurches-automatic transmission. It sounds and feels as if drive train will fall out. I have taken it to dealer twice. The first time, they kept it for 3 days, the second time, for one. The mechanic is able to replicate the noise/lurching, but they are unable to find a cause or correction. They tell me it is not dangerous, but i am concerned that the noise/movement, could cause myself or another family member to swerve or brake hard and cause an accident. The mechanic has tried "updating the software" but that did not fix it. Several other gmc sierra owners tell me they have had same problem.
Extreme hard shift from 1 to 2 regardless of power input. Also, sputtering after mantiaining speed (rpms jumping up and down, you can feel the power input increase or decrease). This also happens using cruise control. After researching, this is a major complaint on this vehicle.
Vehicle slams into gear at initial take off and deceleration following an acceleration which causes a hard forward jerk . This issue has came close to causing accidents on the highway during passing and departing stalls adjacent other vehicles and/or objects.

The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. While driving at low speeds, the vehicle violently downshifted from first into second gear. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken four times to demarois buick gmc mercedes-benz (3115 w broadway st, missoula, mt 59808, (406) 721-4000) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 9-526--2561452. The failure mileage was 20,000.
I have had several instances where you push the accelerator and you start to go and then it just stops moving like the transmission has disengaged. Started to turn into oncoming traffic this morning and had to stop as as it did this and i was going to get hit!!!it does it a lot, first time i would have been hit!!! gm says they know it's a problem, at shop now again for it! going to get someone killed!!!!
The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. While driving 30 mph, the transmission failed after a complete stop. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the rpms increased. When shifting from second to first gear, the transmission shifted into first gear with extreme force and caused the vehicle to abruptly accelerate. The contact had to engage the brake pedal with force to avoid a crash. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to walsh chevy buick gmc (2330 north bloomington street, streator, il, 61364 815-673-4333) where the transmission system was reprogrammed twice and the electronic control module was replaced. However, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 112.updated 08/30/17*lj
The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving various speeds, the vehicle started to shudder. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to his destination. The vehicle was taken multiple times to luther family buick gmc (3202 36th st s, fargo, nd 58104, (701) 639-4547) and 6 software updates were performed on the transmission. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
"have taken my 2017 gmc sierra into the dealership twice for transmission issues, the last time was a month ago. Both times i was told that there wasn't anything wrong but that the transmission software was 're-flashed' and that the transmission would have to 're-learn my driving habits'. My truck is still having problems. While upshifting from 1st to 2nd gear, the transmission sometimes hesitates before it engages and then causes the truck to lunge forward with a huge slam. While downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear, the transmission will make a very noticeable 'clunk'. I'm about to take it back a 3rd time. This is extremely frustrating my bought my truck less than 2 years ago and it only has 25,000 miles."
Gm has known issues, which i'm sure the nhtsa is aware of.this involves transmission in 2015-2019 model trucks, both gmc and chevrolet, among other gm vehicles.in my research there have been no less than 13 tsb's issues by gm trying to rectify these issues.the latest tsb states that a new blend of transmission fluid is the fix.in my instance the transmission started shifting hard with less than 30k miles.took to dealership and they reprogrammed the transmission control module.fixed the issue for a while but then started back after about 10k miles.in feb. 2020 with 60k miles a transmission temperature sensor failed on the transmission.i took it in to replace sensor and as a result they had to change the fluid at which time they told me they replaced it with the new recommended fluid.now at 94k miles it has started producing the hard shuddering at certain speeds.this is the main problem the fluid change is supposed to fix.well guess what.it does fix it.i'm now scheduled to take it back in on monday 8-9-21 to have the torque converter replaced.the company i work for has about 12 of these model gmc trucks and 7 of them have had to go back in to fix this same issue.some of them multiple times.i'm out of warranty and these repairs are not cheap.the biggest safety issue is the tranny could fail at any point going down the road and leave me with no drivetrain and potentially get hit.in my 40 years of driving and owning 20 vehicles between me, my wife and 3 kids i have never had a tranny fail.this is the first and gm has know about this issue for years.they need to be made to fix these issues and replace all transmission that are having issues and repay me the money i've already paid and the money i'll have to pay next week.this is ridiculous that nhtsa has not gotten involved enough to force gm to correct this.you need to force the hand of gm to make this right. You know of the problems, now get it fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My truck shifts very hard between gears, especially 1st to 2nd. Feels like getting rear ended sometimes. It also hesitates daily when backing out of my driveway and putting it from reverse to drive. You don't know when it will actually engage making it dangerous when pulling out into the street. Its definitely an issue with the transmission but no fixes offered from dealer yet.
Heavy vibration between 1200 rpm and 1500 rpm anywhere below 45 mph and above 70 mph
On friday november 6th we were on our way home coming down 1960 east when we started to hear a noise coming from the truck. We could hear it loud and clear because the a/c is also out so we have been having to leave the windows down. It sounded like an old electric fan running. Then shortly after the truck started to jerk hard it felt like we had just been in an accident. The truck would not shift gears and we were in the middle of a very busy 1960 lucky we were close to home and where able to make it there after multiple attempts to get the truck going. My husband has some knowledge of cars and realized it was the transmission. This is a fairly new vehicle. How can it have such a major problem? when doing some research apparently this is problem that gm is aware of and have done nothing to fix. As i mentioned before the a/c condenser has a major leak and this is also a problem of gm vehicles. Basically we bought a brand new lemon. I'm thankful we were not on the freeway when this happened it could have been much worse outcome. For now we are with out a vehicle and can not afford to replace the transmission.
Transmission shifts or jerks hard when coming to a stop, severe transmission vibration occurs when traveling at speeds of 50 to 65 mph.
The 8 speed transmission shifts hard going from 1st to 2nd. It cant decide what gear it wants at speeds around 40mph. It has revved up and then slammed into gear going into garage and has even done it going into a parking spot. Thank god no one was in front of me! the truck has done this since new. Dealer has reprogrammed the software per gm, changed the transmission fluid to no avail. Dealer has been great in trying to find and repair issue but all they tell me is gm is aware of issue but does not know what to do. The only thing they are allowed is to reprogram the software and send it home. The dealer has even told me they have several customers with this issue in only the 8 speed transmission. I know how to fix it, replace the transmissions with the new 10 speed. Gm has even said that is why they came our with it because the 8 speed has issues. I know gm will say it is not a safety issue but if a vehicle jumps into gear and hits a pedestrian, who will be to blame! my truck has 46,000 miles and it has done this since it was new.
Vehicle was parked on icy driveway (5 degree angle). In park. Vehicle was found at the bottom of driveway against a tree. The wheels were turning and not skidding as proven by treads in the snow. I believe one of the rear tires may have slipped and somehow the oppositedisengaged and allowed it to continue backwards. This happened with my 2002 gmc sierra. The explanation i was given is the differential senses a slip and the other side engages allowing it to turn but if there is a slope the vehicle weight allows it to keep rolling down hill. If someone is behind the vehicle they could be injured or pinned between another object. You can park one on an icy drive and nudge it and it will begin rolling backwards. There should be a pronounced warning of this or an engineering solution
The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while accelerating at 85 mph, the vehicle independently decelerated to 70 mph without warning. The contact stated that the throttle no longer operated as needed. The contact had taken the vehicle to faulkner buick gmc trevose (4427 e street rd, feasterville-trevose, pa 19053) on two occasions however, the mechanics were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed the contact that they had never heard of such a failure. The contact then spoke to an independent mechanic who informed him that the defect may be linked to a speed sensor and a computer malfunction. The contact then took the vehicle to another independent mechanic who reprogrammed the computer software. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 19,906.*dt
My transmission shifts very hard from 1st gear to 2and and then from 2and gear to 1st gear at which time i'm usually stopping and it seems to push the truck forward a bit. I've taken it to pekin il dealership and green chevrolet in peoria il and neither one says there is anything wrong
My truck braking system is going to the floor board of mytruck. Making very hard for me to stop. They call themselves fixing it but the same problem is back. Really tired of this problem and other spend 1000.00 on springs and the vehicle was only a 1 1/2 old was told the warranty on cover it if they were broken a lie the dealership told me.
I have an 8 speed transmission that stalls upon acceleration lurches and surges when trying to shift gears. When coming to a stop lunges forward due to a shift in the transmission. I have taken to the dealer multiple times and express my concerns they finally replaced torque converter and flushed transmission now they state that it is operating correctly.
Transmission shift from 1st gear. There is a problem in the gear shift from 1st to 2nd it slams the transmission when you stop and start. There is a heater in the transmission that puts extra degradation on the oil causing it to need replacement very early. Dealer knows of the issue but has no fix for it only stated they noted the file in case it fails. Unaccepatable for a 55,000. Please look into this.
8 speed transmission is dangerous.under light throttle, the vehicle will make a loud popping noise and lurch forwrward. Like stopping at a stop light, driving through a drive-thru. My truck will shake violentlly.. Dealer says its the transmission. When i try to enter my garage the truck will sort of jump forward. Delear says its torque converter sutter. Transmission has been worked on 3 time. It seems to get worse. Delears says the 8 speed transmission has many issues but gm does not have a fix.these 8 speed transmissions will end up killing folk.. This stuff happens on a daily basis
The truck lurches forward as if the accelerator is being depressed while comingto a stop obviously while depressing the brake.this causes dangerous situations every day in traffic.i have not found any solutions to the problem online.reprogramming computerand replacing other speed control modules has not solve the problem for other drivers.
Towing a 5900# rv trailer within the specified 7600# tow weight capacity, caused the transmission to overheat and free spin within 10 miles of travel. Transmission overheating occurred when towing (285+), when not towing but in tow mode (264), & when driving (241). Dealer and gmc tech's do not have a correction for the transmission operating above range. V6 engine w 6 speed automatic transmission. Traveling at 60mph. Weather temperature low 80's. Leaving the owner in the road with their rv waiting for 20 minutes for the transmission to cool down so it can be moved off the road, is not safe.
The vehicle does a hard shift from 1 to 2 second and has a shudder.
I have been experiencing the hard up shift and down shift problems that has affected almost all gmc sierra pickups with the gm 8l90 and 8l45 transmissions since 2015.the dealership told me that there was no repair for the problem and reset the transmission computer on 5 separate occasions which did absolutely nothing to remedy the problem.my vehicle is now out of warranty and the dealership wants to charge me $2800 to replace the valve body in the transmission.what is the nhtsa going to do about this issue and why hasn't gmc been forced to recall these vehicles.
Within a couple of days after purchasing the vehicle new i noticed a vibration or shudder when the transmission shifted. Also, the truck would slam into gear almost like being hit in the back end, and on a few occasions while driving on the highway the truck would just downshift by itself thereby causing the engine rpm's to rev above 5,000. It has been to the dealer four times, transmission has been re-calibrated, the new and improved fluid flush and these problems still exist. The truck has just under 60k miles and has started downshifting on a regular basis causing the engine to rev. How long is that going to last before the engine blows or causes permanent damage?
Drivers seat moves ,shifts when turning corners ,had in shop 2 times with jim ellis gmc mall of georgia..this has been going on since i purchased new. Not fixed yet..there again today..
Vehicle has hard shift at 5-6 mph. Dealer stated could not find issue, and reflashed tcm.approx month later, at 10k miles, truck hard shifted from red light on highway, once up to 45 mph, shutdown.steering wheel locked up, no brakes, no control of vehicle at 45-50 mph.dealer kept for one week, stated loose cable on starter from battery.exactly 1k miles later (5 weeks), now at 11k miles, truck hard shifted at 5-6mph, and at 45-50 mph truck tried to shift in 4wd. All lights on dash came on as a result.dealer has currently had the truck for two weeks and can not find issue.they supposedly consulted gm, and instead of sending an expert tech to help dealer find issue, advised dealer to replace ecm.replacing ecm is the general answer to not sure what is wrong.this truck is a safety issue, as when it shuts off going 45-50 mph there is no control or brakes operational on the vehicle.gm will replace the ecm, and just like right now, will not be able to replicate the problem, and expect me as the consumer to take delivery back of the vehicle.currently all of my documentation is in the dash of this truck, at the dealership.trying to determine how myself as the consumer can help ensure this safety issue is corrected, and not passed on.
Faulty brake vacuum pump leading to reduced braking force under repeated use or in a pannic situation leading to a collision. I hit a deer because i was unable stop or sufficiently slow down to avoid hitting it. I noticed reduced braking force and a hard brake pedal. I have read of several reports on the internet involving this issue
Original issue:brake pedal hard to push and truck did not stop normally at low speeds.could reproduce issue usually pulling into a parking spot.my vehicle would have hit car in front of me if i hadn't used ebrake.took to dealer, dealer applied software update to braking system.upon pickup i discovered the original issue persisted and now had an additional issue.now at almost every brake event, the abs would engage and cause the brake petal to chatter/vibrate.dealer and gm customer service tried to tell me that was normal after the recall update.i told them that couldn't be normal.it wasn't happening before.after not excepting that as a fix, the dealership started looking for other possibility's.after telling the dealer i was going to take the truck somewhere else they decided to replace the vacuum pump.the new vacuum pump fixed both issues!i'm just saying if the recall update is causing more problems then what it was intended to fix.now there could be a more serious problem on the highway.please look into these issues.i feel like gm is trying to hide a big problem.
Vacuum pump issue with gmc sierra - i noticed a problem braking my pickup, spongy brakes, hard stopping.i took it to my local chevy dealer (portsmouth chevrolet, portsmouth, nh).they diagnosed it as a problem with the vacuum pump and replaced the pump under warranty.i wanted to alert you because i saw a notice on fox news this evening about your investigation of the problem with earlier models and wanted to alert you that mine is a 2017.you may want to expand the investigation to include later model trucks and suvs.luckily i caught it in time, no accidents, no injuries.
The brakes are not working at slow speeds. I was parking in a parking garage while pulling up to the concrete wall and pushing on the brake the truck almost didn't stop and the pedal got very stiff. While driving home in traffic the truck did the same thing and i almost hit the car in front of me. It seems to be at slower speeds and the brakes are losing all power. The truck is only 2 years old and normally stops on a dime. Took to the dealer today, and they said the vacuum pump is bad at only 39,000 miles.
I was driving on i-4 towards orlando at 70mph following a safe distance traffic was coming to stop and i went to brake and the brakes wouldnt work properly and cause me to pull vehcile to one side causing me to crash saw life flash before eyes . Thankful to be alive , comes to find out there was a recall on it
I had the rotors replaced on my new truck at 6000 miles and paid for repairs out of pocket.
Stopped at a stoplight, no problem. After a few seconds truck started to roll forward. Had to apply tremendous pressure on brake to stop vehicle. Problem continued until i was arrived at destination a quarter mile away. Occurred several more times. Cut vehicle off and when restarted it occurred once and then returned to normal operation.
When i going in reverse the pedal brake doenst work
Stiff brake pedal at low speeds and brake assist error message
The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. While driving approximately 20 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The brakes failed to adequately slow down the vehicle. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to mastria buick gmc (1525 new state hwy, raynham, ma 02767, (508) 880-7000) to be repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The contact stated that the failure recurred twice after the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
Anti-collision system is activated, i apply breaks, break peddle is soft and goes to the floor, i swerve to avoid collision and quickly pump the breaks to regain peddle and apply breaks again (this time brakes engage).6 different times this has happened.4 times on the interstate during rush hour and twice on a highway.car in front of me slammed on the breaks cause the system to activate and me to react.it appears the system overrides the brakes taking control away from me.however, the system does not brake the vehicle.another occur was when i was launching my boat into the lake.i was backing up and lost brake pressure and had to apply my emergency parking brake to stop my truck from going into the water.this vehicle has been checked by 2 different dealers, 4 different times in the past year.i do not feel safe driving this vehicle.the date listed below was the last occurrence when this happened.(not the prior 5 occurrences)
Lost brake assist. Coming to a stop the brake pedal whet to the floor and the anti lock brakes started chattering. The brake pedal was hard as a rock and took 2 feet to stop. I was on a 170 mile trip and almost hit someone 2 times.
Gmc sierra was brought to dealer for existing recall regarding braking. Dealer indicated recall had been resolved. While backing the truck on 3 separate occasions since recall addressed, brakes become much less responsive with clicking sound. Brakes become hard to press and do not stop vehicle complete. This also happened while towing a boat down ramp. The vehicle has 28,000 miles and the issue did not occur prior to about a month ago. The most recent time was tonight while backing on level ground into garage. I have not had an accident as a result of this, but the recall was not adequately performed or did not address the issue.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving about 50 mph, increased braking effort was required in order to stop the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to the dow lewis motors dealer (530-763-2923, located at 2913 colusa hwy, yuba city, ca 95993) where it was informed of nhtsa campaign number: 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, it was confirmed that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact was not provided a loaner vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The vin was not provided.

The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to brake, the brake pedal was stiff and very difficult to depress. The contact mentioned that the abs in the brakes was vibrating. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnosis or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

As i was back my boat in at boat ramp brake pedal was hard to press down had to almost stand on them to keep from truck going in the water.i researched this and seen where gm has a recall on the vacuum pump but i call the dealer they told me they wasn't a recall.
'takata recall' driving the truck to the store, when i was parking the brake pedal got extremely hard, lost all brake functions. Immediately took the truck (2017 gmc sierra 1500) to the dealership they told me it was the vacuum pump and belt. Had it replaced under the warranty on no additional cost.
Almost collided with other cars in parking lot because the brakes weren't working right also transmission shimmies between 50 and 60 mph
No breaks loud soundgrabbing breaks growling sound very loud sweeking soundhappens all time
Vacuum pump, brake pedal stiff when reversing, hard to stop.
Total brake failure. The pedal became hard as a rock with no advance warning. I received a notice (n182202780) from gm stating that i might experience increased brake pedal effort. It went on to say how this notice "is not a reacall" and that brakes still meets "all federal motor vehicle safety standards for brake performance"i'm writing to bring attention to the fact that my truck experienced no symptoms of a problem until the pedal had maybe 10% assist. No check engine light or notice from the drivers info center. I applied the brake, shifted into drive, accelerated then applied the brake to stop and maybe had 10% braking ability.the notice also went on to say that "failure to follow recommended oil change intervals could contribute to this condition". The truck has 32000 miles on it, i've owned it since new, i have always changes oil with 20% life left in it. This is about 2000 mile sooner than the manufacturer recommends.this is a very serious condition that gm has recognized in there letter, but in my opinion, are not taking it serious enough. Unless i'm a "one off" case, this will very likely get people hurt and property damage if not addressed very soon. Please look into this, thank you
The contact owned 2017 gmc sierra ld. The contact stated the vehicle was serviced for nhtsa campaign number: 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic) at local dealer don johnson motors chevrolet buick gmc (734 west ave, rice lake, wi 54868), however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated while driving 70 mph traffic has stopped. The brake pedal was depressed however the vehicle failed to stop, causing the vehicle to hit another vehicle and guardrail.the contact stated that the air bags deployed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow ard, after eleven days it was towed to local dealer palm chevrolet (2300 sw college rd, ocala, fl 34471) where it was diagnosed that the vacuum pump, senor ,and a belt needed to be replaced.the vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The contact stated the vehicle was traded for a2018 chevy impala.the manufacturer had been informed of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.*as
At low speed or most of the time backing up brakes do not work well at all. Need to push very hard.
A few times my brakes while going slow would get very tight and not work. Well today after church i was leaving the parking lot. As the car in front of me moved forward, so did i. When i tried to stop i couldnt. My brakes got hard and went to the floor and i ran right into the car in front of me
I has some issues with my brakes when stopping at a red light. I stepped on the brakes and kept rolling forward and almost hit the truck in front of me. I thought it could be my pads worn down so i drove cautiously for a few days. I got a call a few days later from the dealership where i brought the truck from saying my on star notified them of a recall on my truck pertaining to the brakes. I thought good this could fix the problem. I took it by the dealer and they said it was a software update, and they did the update. I also asked them to take a look at the break pads so i could rule it out or do something about it. They said i have 60% of my brake pads still left. The next day i was going to work and i got to the parking garage where i work and noticed it was doing it again. I pressed down on the brakes to back up and i kept rolling forward and had to press down hard and to the floor so i could stop. So far there was not a crash but i feel its only a matter of time. This is a major safety issue for me and my family and feel there should be some sort of recall to fix this.
Was stopped at stop light, with foot on the brake. Started rolling forward and had to press harder on the brake. When holding foot on brake pedal and in gear pedal slowly moves down to the floor. Took vehicle to dealer who was luckily close by. They tested truck brake's and found the same thing. They kept truck, and repaired the next day. Master cylinder was bad. They believe that a seal may have a crack,or a nick in it, allowing pressure to release. The dealer said more than likely gm will ask for part to examine it, so they can't take it apart. Truck had 3173 mile's on it.
On 9/2019 they supposedly did the reprogram to fix the hydraulic braking issue on my truck.it is now doing the very same issue again.i go to slow down or stop and feel like its not slowing down and i pump the pedal to get a good pedal to stop.it does this quite frequent now.is there anyone who can help me see if this can be done again under recall?
Breaks have out at 36.5k miles. Vacuum to break line messed up. Was in busy traffic going 50-60mph. Traffic slowed down but truck would not break. Very very scary situation. Gmc dealership knew exactly what the issue was over the phone. Took it to them and car was out of warranty by 500 miles. 800$ out of pocket and took them 10 seconds to identify once the vehicle was at the dealership. Seems like they know the issue very well
Felt strange brake pulse turned into parking lot and power braking failed. Barely got truck stopped before hitting another car. Truck had to be towed to dealership
I own two gmc sierra trucksyears 2014 and 2017 both trucks have severe lock up issues. I have gone to the dealership numerous times and they reset the computer but the brakesstill lockup.this is an extreme safety hazard, and my wife and i are extremely scaredthat we will be in a fatal accident.there has been several times where we have almost hit a car or person walking. I am really concerned that these vehicles will cause an accident.my children are always in my trucks end it is extremely scary when every time i hit the brakes i am not sure if it will stop or not. This is an imperative matter.
When i apply the brakes it doesn't want to stop and i have to push it down again almost like there is a issue with the vacuum on the brakes but it says my vehicle is not affected by the recall but the symptoms are exactly the same as the recall.
The brake pedal becomes extremely stiff when trying to stop at slow speeds, especially in parking lots. The vehicle becomes very difficult to stop almost causing crashes. Gm dealership repeatedly tests vehicle and tries to claim there is nothing wrong and i'm making a mistake. Had to take vehicle in several times and eventually they found a failed vacuum pump. They tried to make me pay $700+ for the repair even though its a known issue. They are trying to avoid doing a recall and putting their bottom line ahead of safety. These trucks are dangerous.
After exiting i285 north of atlanta onto the ashford dunwoody exit, my breaks stopped working and the pedal would not press down. I was in motion at the time and happened to be moving up an incline. I had to down shift from drive into a lower gear and use the emergency break to avoid a collision with the car in front of me.
This happened multiple times. The brake pedal is hard at low idle, and you have to stand on brake pedal to stop the vehicle. Typically happens when trying to back in a parking spot or in stop & go traffic the brake pedal becomes hard to push and truck doesn't stop as quickly
Low speed braking issue.was in a parking lot trying to park moving about 1 or 2 mph.truck would not stop and it was like there where no brakes until i pressed as hard as i could.does not do this at normal speeds
Loud clunking sound when turning at low speeds. Stiff, difficult to turn. Hazardous.
My new 2017 gmc sierra vibrates badly at all speeds above 40 mph.the shake in the steering wheel causes my hands to go numb and is a safety issue.i have informed gm of this and had it repaired 3 times.this didn't correct the issue and gm is stating the vehicle is "operating as designed" and will not do any further repairs.it is hard to believe that in this day and age a vehicle is designed to have a constant vibration.this issue has been going on since model year 2014 and gm will not acknowledge or correct the issue.it is going to take someone's serious bodily injury or death for them to look into the problem.please open an investigation into all gm half ton trucks from model year 2014 through 2017.
On august 24th 2018 while driving my new 2017 gmc sierra thru west branch michigan the power steering failed and completely went out. I couldbarely get the vehicle off of the road safely. Steering the truck was almost impossible. I called the gmc dealer and the service department person said to turn off the vehicle, wait a bit and restart the truck. I did this and everything reengaged.a while later down the road it happened again. Power steering shut down. This vehicle is a replacement vehicle we chose after our new 2016 gmc sierra continued to shut down over 30 times with ecm problems while driving at all speeds. My wife was terrified and reluctant to ever drive that vehicle after that. After many hurdles, gmc decided to exchange the truck with our current 2017 gmc sierra that we have now. This 2017 gmc sierra has lost its power steering over15 times while underway driving. Thank god it wasn't ever my wife driving. Its bad enough for her to be a passenger now when the steering goes out as well. She is terrified, and i am very leary and concerned about this happening at any time at any speed without warning. It has also happened at higher speeds. On september 1, 2018 while making a right hand turn from m-65 on to maple ridge rd whittemore, michigan, the power steering went out again and the steering wheel whipped back to the left so hard and fast i could barely control the vehicle to maneuver. I also suffered a serious left shoulder injury that i continue to suffer with. My wife is literally deathly afraid to drive this truck. I am afraid that i may kill someone or myself and wife with this dangerous truck. While driving the vehicle to the dealer after the power steering reset after i turn it off, from the day before.it lost power steering again at 65 mph.repairs have been made to the ecm and power steering module from dealer patsy lou williamson buick gmc
The steering wheel is very hard to turn i am still using like that the truck has 40500 miles, it feels more difficult to turn at low speeds when turning on a street, driving on the freewayis not difficult to control the steering wheel.
The vehicle was in motion on a city street, when the vehicle completely powered off. The steering wheel locked.this occurred on 11/22/2020 and 11/23/2020.the following message is on my dashboard 'steering assist is reduced drive with care.'
I was turning around a curb at a fast food when suddenly the steering wheel jerked out of my hands the opposite way i was turning the slightly back again. When i tried to regain control it did it again. I paused and was then permitted to complete my turn. I then experienced it again about a week later while backing into a parking spot. Upon completion of my appointment i immediately drove straight to the dealership where i had purchased the truck new a year ago and inquired of any recalls or problems of the steering doing this and the service gentleman looked on the computer and said no. I have made an appointment for the following week to take it in to diagnosis the problem. I will not know the out come till then, but since it has happened two more times.the situation seems to happen at slow speed( thank god) and while turning sharply. It is dangerous at anytime when the vehicle is not under control.
A warning appeared on the display it says servicepower steering drive with care and i think it doesn't mean any good thing so please tell me what i need to do to drive my truck safely out of any risk. Thanksexactly i don't know what happened but that warning appears any time after turn the truck on.
Was pulling my trailer out of the water and lost all power steering, fluids full, pump working, just electrical issue. Had to drive home 20 miles without power steering, very hard to turn. They said they 'fixed' this is issue in 2015, but here i am in a 2017 with the same problem, low speed and completely lost power steering, thank goodness i wasn't pulling on to a highway or in the middle of a curve.

The passenger side door strikers (both front and rear) were not torqued properly. The bolts seem to have been hand tightened only, and appear to be slowly backing out further.if left as is, i believe the striker would eventually become separated from the vehicle body, allowing the doors to open unexpectedly.the only symptoms of the issue were: a slightly louder release/click from the door when opening (when compared to drivers side doors that appear to be torqued correctly), doors seemed to be harder to latch when closing (had to pull a little harder than drivers doors), and occasional complaints of road noise from passengers.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph a loud popping noise was heard. Upon inspection it was discovered that the rear powered sliding window had exploded.the contact indicated that during the incident the window was closed. No further information was available. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer don franklin gmc (3380 richmond rd. Lexington ky) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 78,000.

Heavy vibration between 1200 rpm and 1500 rpm anywhere below 45 mph and above 70 mph
Now while a trip to which i rolled over 39000 miles, i have a ball joint explode putting my family in danger and causing me to now need that repaired, new tire, andfull alignment. I called the local dealership i have used for years and am told to bad at 36031 miles you are on your own as warranty is over and have had to take to firestone due to safety emergency as it was the closest repair center to where i was and driving any more on this was putting my life in danger.i call in and get the yep warranty is over conversation as well. I then look and find the drivers side ball joint on the 2017 is on national backorder and that this is a known issue with this model and year.seems there was some sort of issue with quality and there should be a recall put in on this as it is a very very dangerous problem and is happening at an alarming rate.a ball joint shouldn't be exploded like this in 39000 miles on any vehicle.forums and the repair center i went to said this is a huge issue on this model and year and that the parts are on a nationwide backorder because it is a defective part.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while exiting a parking lot and turning the steering wheel completely to the left and to the right, there was an abnormal sound coming from the driver's and passenger's wheels. The contact coasted to the side of the road and noticed the tires were rubbing on the front suspension bars. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The contact owns a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. While driving 75 mph, the vehicle vibrated without warning. The vehicle was taken to crest auto world at (603) 356-5401 located on 802 eastman rd, center conway, nh 03813 where no diagnostic failure codes were found and the failure could not be duplicated. I was towing a trailer for approx: 5 miles when i notice a strange odor and i pulled overand realized the truck had caught on fire by it selfand police and good samaritin tried to put it out but was not successful . Hence the truck and trailer were a total loss along with $ 750 worth hand tools. ( trailer worthapprox: $12,500)i was on a two lane road speed 40 (it was a rental truck)
Assisted braking issues. When going down a hill doesn't kick in or slowing down. Comes on once in awhile.

The truck lurches forward as if the accelerator is being depressed while comingto a stop obviously while depressing the brake.this causes dangerous situations every day in traffic.i have not found any solutions to the problem online.reprogramming computerand replacing other speed control modules has not solve the problem for other drivers.

On screen display for backup camera.when putting the vehicle in reverse, the on screen display is so bright that you can't see out the windows, the rearview mirrors or the surrounding area. This display does not dim with the rest of the lights. This causes a severe safety hazard when trying to backup the vehicle.
Back window started smoking next to handle to open sliding window then shattered then started falling out. I was moving and in in reverse backing up when this happened. (left section of back window)

Rear solid/heated window exploded while stationary in the drive way

While driving on the road at regulated speed, my warning light turned on and one of the wheels was lower in air psi comparing to the other 3. I thought the tires were already worn out so couple of weeks later i replaced the tires, i saw that the warning light popped up once again so i went back to the tire shop and what they found out was that the rim has a slight crack on the inner side and air was leaking out, the week following the tire replacement i took my car to the dealer for a solution and they failed to assist me and denied the manufacturing defect.
