Vehicle involved in a rear end collision and pushed into a vehicle in front causing both front and rear damage, airbag came out of inflater but did not deploy

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. When the vehicle was started, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. While driving approximately 45 mph, the driver and passenger side curtain air bags deployed. The contact stopped the vehicle in the middle of the highway until the police arrived. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was taken to finnegan chevrolet (26529 southwest fwy, rosenberg, tx 77471) where it was diagnosed that the headliner and sensors needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While driving approximately 25 mph, the front driver's side air bag erroneously deployed and caused the contact's vehicle to crash into the rear of another vehicle. The driver sustained injuries to the head, chest, and left arm that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an undisclosed location. A police report was not filed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but the local dealer was not. The failure mileage was 17,000. The vin was not available.

On average, about every 3rd time i drive this truck, but almost every time if it's wet or cold, i get a warning that there is a mechanical issue with my airbags. I don't know which one, or what part of the system is failing, but the airbag warning light will remain on the entire time i'm driving and i get notices from onstar that it requires immediate attention. It's happened too many times for me to count. The first time it happened (over a year ago), i took it to the dealership regarding the issue, they thought it was likely electrical and could be fixed with a $1000 repair.

On 20 march 17, i was traveling down a country road when a dog entered the roadway. I swerved rightand was not able to correct, without the possibility of over steering and possibility rolling my truck. I went through a small ditch my side air bags deployed. I was able to get back on the road.i stopped the truck and could not see any damage. I returned to my friends house and contacted my insurance, tow company and the local sheriff dept, nobody including the repair facility could detect any damage aside of the air bag deployment. My insurance adjuster and the service facility both expressed they are familiar of such accidental side air bag deployments on this vehicle.,

Smelled electrical burning and then seconds later the driver side of my rear window exploded into pieces with a loud bang.

On 02/12/2020, i was turning turning to park in a parking spot at work when the radio and other electrical components shut down, and the steering wheel jerked in the opposite direction. I temporarily loss control of my own steering wheel. This occurred 3 times while trying to park. In addition, a message about stabilitrack appeared. It is well known that gm has recalled over 1,700,000 vehicles with this same power steering issue stating that owners will lose control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash. See nhtsa campaign number: 18v586. Gm's own number for this recall is 18289. However, gm has only included certain vehicles in this recall, mainly 2014 and 2015. My 2016 gmc sierra 1500 is currently not included in gm's recall even though the same power steering problem is occurring. According to a notice published with the nhtsc, the trucks may experience a temporary loss of electric power steering (eps) assist followed by a sudden return of eps assist. The issue, gm says, occurs typically during low-speed turning maneuvers. If eps assist is lost and suddenly returned, the driver could lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash. Gm says it first became aware of the issue in feb. 2017 after receiving customer complaints related to loss of eps. Tests conducted between april and may found that some of the vehicles contained electrical issues that could cause loss of eps. The carmaker was to contact affected owners & dealers will perform a reflash of the eps module software. Gm stated that newer vehicles contained recalibrated software and will not have this issue. Gm is incorrect in it assessment since i have just experienced the same power steering issue in my 2016 sierra, & now the dealer does not want to repair the issue since there is no gm recall on 2016s. There is definitely a problem with power steering on 2016s.

While driving a hissing sound was heard from rear window, smoke appeared and rear window shattered. Dealer states that there was a short in the electrical system consistent with recall # n192220470 and that my vehicle does have rpo a48. My vehicle was not included in this recall due to geographical location of vehicle (pennsylvania). This is a known potential fire risk and glass shattered into the vehicle. It should be noted that the outside temp was 60 degrees and my husband did not turn on defroster or open the rear window. After the smoke clear and window shattered he noticed that the defroster light was on and he shut it off manually.had there been rear seat passengers they would have had glass on them and subjected to smoke and possible fire. God forbid a child in a rear facing child safety seat was back there, they would have been at serious risk of harm. Gm has been notified and at this time is refusing to include this vehicle in their limited scope recall. I know of several others with similar stories (avail upon request), one lives in south carolina, proving that this recall should not be limited to northern tier states. The current recall must be expanded to all 50 states asap. Lives and property are at risk.

Electrical issue causing sound system, rear camera and radio toshut down completely. Issue started 2 weeks after purchase. Vehicle has been service several times but issue has not been resolve.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. When the key was turned in the ignition, the instrument panel turned black and the engine failed to start. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and to prime buick gmc (1845 washington street, hanover, ma 02339, (781) 826-8300) to be diagnosed, but no failure code was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 27,600. *ln

When making turns left and right at low speeds power to the truck shuts off, the steering wheel jerks left or right and warning lights and beeps are activated. The vehicle will continue through momentum, but as you try to turn the steering wheel, the wheel will jerk violently rendering the turn dangerous. This also happens when backing up and turning. The vehicle has to placed in park, ignition shut off and turned back on to continue through the turn and drive. This issue is sporadic and unpredictable.i've avoided near accidents on 5 occasions. The same symptoms occurred during the 2015 gmc power steering recall. I've contacted a dealership but was told it could not be fixed without my vin number being included in the recall.

(1) the truck hesitates and the engine almost shuts off like it's not getting enough gas, it does this for about the first 45 mins. Of startup.(2) the battery has been replaced for the second time and even with a new battery it sounds like it's barely got enough power to start the engine

My truck was parked at a business.i started the truck after being inside for about 10 minutes and started to smell an electrical burn/shortening.i turned the truck off, told my wife to get out and i popped the hood.by the time she walked to the back and me to the front, the rear window behind the driver shattered, sending glass inside and outside the vehicle.after opening the doors for a few minutes, the smell was gone, since i work with electronics for work, is normal for the smell.i think it was defroster and/or the sliding rear window wiring.this happened on 12/03/2019.i had escalated this up general motors customer relations and after level 2 was told it was not their issue, even after i referenced the canadian recall for this very issue.the truck, per my service writer todd, has since been recalled but i cannot find anything anywhere.my truck is still at the dealer, woody buick gmc, naperville, il and has not been repaired.that's also why i can't send a photo.

While making turns the vehicle intermittentlystalls, losing all control of steering and electrical components. When it stallsthere is no steering control whatsoever and the vehicle does have brakes, but slow to react..restart the vehicle and the computer system slowly resets.this has happened 5 times in the last2 days.taking the vehicle to the dealership as soon as they have an opening.

Started truck with rear defrost on, loud gun-like sound and smoke came from left, rear window and left window shattered while stationary.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed several gauges became inoperable.the driver information system illuminated a code and the power steering ceased. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to young buick gmc dealer. (2010 e main st, owosso, mi 48867, (888) 399-4101) on eight occasions however, the technician was unable to provide a cause for the failures. In addition, the contact stated that while driving, the stability trac activated and pulled the vehicle to the right side of the road at 50 mph in inclement weather. An audible chime was heard before the power steering ceased. The brake also failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The failure mileage was 80,000.

Vehicle was remote started- rear defrost turned on automatically due to outside temperature. Rear defrost overheated and shattered rear power sliding window (rpo a48) while stationary. Burning smell was noted. Gm claims my vin is not associatedwith special customer satisfaction program n192265660.

Upon starting the truck to warm it up the power sliding rear window with defroster burned components and the left portion of the window shattered, luckily avoiding a fire. It is just like the recall in canada #n192220470 and also # n192265660. Gm already accepted partial blame trying to give an unacceptable amount off the repairs.

Steering wheel jolts aggressively from the drivers hands. All electronics shutdown, engine shuts down, stabilitrak error & trailer brake on display.these conditions occur at any speed, going straight or turning. 25mph in city, driving 45 mph country roads or when stationary.very dangerous!

I bought a new 2015 gmc sierra 4x4 from bob king auto in wilmington nc with 0 mile's on it very expensive truck. You can't see at night to drive the headlight's the headlight's have no distance to them maybe 25 ft. And no side vision in other word's you can't see the side of the road also if it's raining at night you can't see anything terrible headlights! my truck was like this when we bought it new in 2015 and i have been trying since then to resolve this issue with general motor's corporate in detroit mi. The dealership has tried to fix this problem twice and this made the problem worse. In my opinion gm should issue a recall on these trucks before someone get's hurt or worse while trying to see with these defective headlights.

I remote started my vehicle, drove to town, smelt something burning. Rear window shattered driver side

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at 45 mph, the four-wheel drive service light illuminated on the instrument panel. As he proceeded driving down the highway, both the service stabilitrak and the no power steering, drive with caution messages appeared on the instrument panel. The contact started losing control of the steering wheel as the vehicle began to sway. The decreased engine power, drive with caution message was also displayed on the instrument panel as the contact cautiously drove the vehicle into a parking lot and restarted the vehicle without further incidence. The next day, the contact drove the vehicle to a dealer where an electrical reboot was performed and the vehicle was returned to the contact. After the vehicle was returned, the contact was driving 50 mph when the failure recurred. The contact continued driving to his destination. The contact returned the vehicle to the dealer where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vin. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000. The vin was unavailable.

5 minutes after starting my truck, i was driving on a side road, to work, with the rear window defrost on, when i heard a hissing sound then started to smell something burning, from behind me.i look in my rearview mirror and saw smoke coming from above/behind the passenger seat.i quickly pulled over, jumped out and as i was looking for the source of the smoke, i saw sparks jump from the rear window defrost then "bang" like a gun firing:the rear driver's side passenger window shattered.the air temp was 3f. I immediately drove to a chevy/gmc dealership 4 miles away.they told me to report to the gmc customer care line.no mention of a recall was made to me.though it appears there is one. If someone had been sitting in the back seat, infront of the window, i do feel this may have caused them harm.## vin passed ## gmc 2016 ##

Started truck. No radio, backup camera, nothing on screen. Also no blinker sound.all came back on after disconnecting and reconnecting negative battery cable. Before this happened, the radio had reset itself 4 other times and i had to reset clock and radio stations. Gmc has had this problem with other vehicles.

Periodically 3 times a week, while driving, the stabiliztrak illuminates and drivability declines, engine check light illums, the gear remains in a low gear without shifting. Turn the ignition off for a couple seconds and it clears and the engine light goes out after 25-35 miles. Sometime it doesn't reset after 3 attempts of turning off and on the ignition. The codes are p0700 a u0100 with others when dealership analyzed. Three times it was in the gmc shop and three times giving back and problem still existed. I recorded on video and gave it to the dealership as proof.

1. Loss of power steering - engine shuts down - dashboard flickers (sometimes it turns back on) 2. Loss of power steering & engine shuts off while in motion - extremely dangerous(usually happens at slower speeds when turning the steering wheel) 3. Dealer has not been able to confirm the problem 4. The dealer won't look at problems unless "it" happens in their hands because the diagnostic does not show this problem. 5. No warning before this happens. No way to force the problem to happen....it just happens usually when turning wheel at slow speeds. 6. This is so dangerous.... 7. The 2015 sierra has a recall for this problem, mine is a 2016 8. Please help - very dangerous

Remote start on the vehicle does not work sometimes , dic says open and close driver door and the engine light comes on and remain on .i took this vehicle to a technician for diagnosticsand computer stated rough idling problem technician clear the engine code.this has continue too happen. Vehicle is always stationary when this happens, i've check around and this is a constantproblem for gmc and chevrolet owners .please look into this matter.

Rear window glass on driver side of sliding rear window exploded after using defrost in cold weather while driving on the interstate.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the energy saver mode and service charging system failure warning messages displayed. In addition, the battery gauge was decreasing steadily to zero and dropped into the negatives. The contact coasted over to the side of the road and the vehicle stalled. The contact opened the hood and discovered that the alternator caught on fire. The fire extinguished on its own. The vehicle was towed to the contacts residence. The contact called the alternator company and it was informed that the alternator was a prototype experimental unit and advised the contact to call a dealer. The contact called cecil atkission motors- kerrville, chevrolet, cadillac and buick dealer (550 benson dr, kerrville, tx 78028, (866) 240-2964) and was advised to bring the vehicle in but the contact did not due to the towing fee since the vehicle was not drivable. In addition, the dealer recommended calling gm directly since he detached the alternator himself. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 147,000.

I was driving my down a 4 lane highway and when i went to stop i had no brakes and rear ended a vehicle. My break peddle went to the floor.

I was waiting on the oncoming traffic so i could make a left turn. I had plenty of time to make my left turn in front of oncoming traffic, as i proceeded to make my turn all if a sudden my steering wheel locked up, stability trac light came on, my power locks locked and unlocked intermittently and truck engine died. I had to restart engine and it did it again as i was moving attempting to finish my turn. This happens on a regular basis now anytime i have to turn steering wheel it locks up and does this. Sometimes it does everything i stated above but engine doesn't die. This is dangerous. A couple times when it does this my truck doesn't have any power to start but wait 30 seconds to a minute, power will restore and you can then start it up. It almost sounds exactly what is happening that the 2015 gmc 1500 are being recalled. This happens now on a daily basis.

I bought this vehicle in july of 2019 from a gmc dealership in duncansville pa. In late november on my way to work randomly my service stabili trak, abs, assisted steering, and brake light lit up on my dash every 30 seconds repetitively for the remainder of the trip (3 hours). I work 4 hours from home for 2 weeks at a time i spend very little time in my vehicle during this time. I seen the lights come up randomly while out of town also. Once my work weeks were over on my way home the problem persisted. I took it for an oil change and recall late december. They told me they could not replicate any lights nor were they showing any codes. As of last month the problem is getting worse to the point were i am completely losing my power steering sometimes for days at a time. Last week i took my vehicle down for another recall sent from gm specifically for my vin i was told there wasn't any issues or codes. All they could find is a communications error and they would need to keep it for a few days and sent me on my way home until they had a loaner vehicle available. One week later after several attempts to get my truck in i still have a lit up dash, no power steering, and not a clue when it'll even be able to be looked at since i leave for work in 2 days. This is a common problem from what i have read and can be extremely dangerous especially in winter/snow/icy conditions. I need a vehicle that i can feel safe in that i can travel without worrying around every turn if my power steering is going to shut off and i'm going to have to power a vehicle around a turn or to avoid an accident. I feel like my problem is being brushed under the rug. On my way home that day just 2 miles from my house my power steering went out and i slid off the road fortunately i live in the country and nothing was in the field i slid into. I have photos and videos of the lights flashing off and on.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while reversing, the steering wheel seized with the check engine warning light and parking assist warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle needed to be shifted to park and restarted for the vehicle to operate as intended. The failure recurred multiple times. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

On two separate occurrences, w/ family in the vehicle, starting speed at approx. 35mph, the accelerator (gas pedal) stuck to the floor during the process of passing another vehicle during city street driving. Top speed got to approx. 55mph, w/ stop lights fast approaching. The pedal simply would not release from full throttle until after the vehicle finally came to complete stop with brakes applied, shifter to neutral position, slamming the shifter to park, and ignition was turned off! had to take immediate and decisive emergency actions during both situations! the first time it occurred, thought perhaps the rubber floor mat may have contributed to this event; however, driver side floor mat was immediately removed. Several days later, during similar operations, the accelerator (gas pedal) again stuck to the floor board in full acceleration mode w/ family in the vehicle! currently have appointment set-up at a huntsville, al. Gmc dealership. This truck was purchased brand new at laura buick in collinsville, il. Although i realize there are other gmc customers; not sure why this huntsville, al dealership would not work me in sooner. This vehicle has approx. 49k miles and should still have warranty remaining until 68k miles. Gmc service department rep. Stated, "monday 26, february is first date available."

Truck was purchased on 11:28:20 and had my first oil change in march. Started noticing a ticking sound coming from the motor but it was. Very faint. After a while it went away. After a few weeks later the noise started to get louder and started shaking. Took to the near mechanic and he diagnosed it with bad lifters on the passager side.. I took it to another mechanic where their replaceming all lifters for 4.8k. This truck is not too old and i shouldnā€™tbe replacing any engine parts. It only has 100k miles and itā€™s a 2016.

While driving the vehicle home from work, the vehicle shut down in the middle of traffic on a street while stopped at a traffic light and would not move after attempting to put the truck in "drive".i had to call for an emergency roadside service (tow truck) which towed the vehicle to a gmc dealership service dept. I was told by the service technician that the transmission torque converter has disintegrated and it would cost over $5000 to repair. This vehicle did not provide any warnings (no warning signal displayed on the instrument panel) that the transmission needed servicing. I have owned this vehicle for 3 years. This vehicle needs reviewing for a recall.

-engine gas consumption state 21 mpg highway, 17 mpg combined and 15 mpg city. When i started using this vehicle during the first weeks and months the best mpg i could get at the highway is 18.5 mpg with top tier gas such shell & chevron during the first 2 years and now costco brand. Every since i bought it, the gas mpg have gone down around 0.5 mpg. The vehicle feels that it has to use more gas in order to perform. -the motor oil pump at times moves down from the 40 mark to the 20 when idle at traffic light and when it starts moving, it temporarily moves to the 60 mark. -the transmission is an 8 speed automatic. It has issues shifting to first gear, second gear and times 3rd gear. When driving at slow speeds like in traffic jams, mall parking lots or when you slow down at the traffic light and then turns green and you start accelerating again it feels harsh on gearing down and up, like someone rear ended your vehicle. -this truck has the active fuel management (afm) and it turns on even slower speeds and you feel how the engine and transmission struggle to really gear up and down. Like it never gears and tries to accelerate at a higher gear. Like in manual transmissions when you accelerate on a higher gear than at correct own it takes forever to reach the needed speed. -even if all 8 pistons are on it feels as if i am running on a smaller engine like a v6 or v4. -the driver car seat feels that move a little like an 1/8 of an inch. -it just feels that something is wrong with motor and transmission.

Experienced error code of p0307 after vehicle backfired while on highway. Check engine light and stabilitrak lights immediately turned on and vehicle was shaking violently. Immediately took vehicle to an independent shop to have it looked at. After running diagnostics, pressure tests, and bore scope. It has been determined that piston in cylinder 7 is a complete loss and has a 0 pressure reading. From talking with shop owner he said he sees this issue quite often with gm vehicles due to dod or afm (active fuel management) that gm has on their engines. I'm at just shy of 67k miles, out of warranty, and needing to replace the engine.

There is a small pin hole in the radiator that the dealership advised was created because of a problem with the thermostat. Apparently gm is aware of the problem and will fix it if it's prior to 60,000 miles. I am several thousand over now and they refuse to cover any of the 1100.00 bill to repair

Brakes fail. Will not allow vehicle to come to a complete stop when going forward or in reverse. When accelerating vehicle violently shakes. This happens at any speed above 20mph.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 45 mph he suddenly saw smoke coming from underneath the hood.the husband pulled the vehicle over and got out of the vehicle quickly and watched as the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The entire vehicle was destroyed by the fire . There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The wreckage was towed to an impound yard. The contact retrieved a wreckage and towedit to a private residence. The dealer and manufacturer had not been contacted yet. The failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle lost power and stalled. The contact shifted into park and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that the steering wheel began to shake violently and the vehicle came to a complete stop again. The vehicle was shifted into park and restarted. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the air conditioning was blowing out hot air, which fogged up the windshield and made it difficult to see while driving. The contact had to roll down the windows in order to see the road. The vehicle was taken to gold star buick gmc (1980 n davis rd, salinas, ca, (831) 240-4859) for repairs. The cause of the failure and repair specifics were undisclosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,696.

A/c stopped working. Great on friday, did not drive over weekend, hot on monday.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While driving approximately 60 mph, the headlights failed to illuminate the roadway. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A local dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the headlights were working according to specifications. The failure mileage and vin were unknown. *as

Electrical issue causing sound system, rear camera and radio toshut down completely. Issue started 2 weeks after purchase. Vehicle has been service several times but issue has not been resolve.

Failed seal on 3rd brake light resulting in complete replacement of brake light required due to water infiltration. Happened in car wash after owning 2yrs 8 months.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle leaked fuel onto the driveway. The contact also smelled fuel inside the vehicle. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The contact called autonation buick gmc henderson at 702-979-2044 (located at 330 north gibson road, henderson, nv 89014) and was informed that there was no recall. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the seal on top of the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The technician replaced the seal. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered a $100 voucher. The failure mileage was approximately 30,500.

Transmission has failed from 4th gear up (3) times within 91,000 miles. When going at speeds more than 50 miles an hour, the transmission will break and lose forward motion causing a safety issue with oncoming traffic. The transmission was "rebuilt" at lafontaine gmc of highland, mi (2) times and they are telling me they are going to "rebuild" it a 3rd time. Just wanted to note safety issue so when this happens in the future i will have a legal avenue.

The quality/precision issues i am having with my vehicle are issues that should not be happening to a $50,000 vehicle. The engine has a rough idle when it is first started up. After the vehicle warms up the rough idle gets worse. It gets even worse while i am driving it and i come to a stop sign or red light. The rough idle vibrates the entire vehicle. The rough idle is at its worse when i stop after having driven on the highway for several hours. I bought this new vehicle because my previous vehicle was totaled in an automobile accident when someone t-boned me in my 2007 gmc yukon xl. My yukon had approximately 200,000 miles and did not have a rough idle or vibrate like my 2016 sierra does. I know the technology is totally different than my 2007 but it should at least idle as good as if not better than my 2007 yukon that had 200,000 miles, but it does not. There is also a hesitation when accelerating from a stop that is getting worse with every additional mile i put on the vehicle. The hesitation is so bad at times i worry the engine is going to stall out on me. It feels/sounds like the cylinders are loading up with too much fuel and are not firing correctly. The stoichiometric ratio is not correct. At times, it feels like a miss. My fuel mileage is also decreasing. In the very beginning i was averaging around 19 miles per gallon and now i am averaging around 17 miles per gallon. I have tried different octane levels of mostly sunoco and bp fuels with no noticeable change in fuel mileage or engine performance except for the above-mentioned conditions getting worse. I am worried this rich mixture will cause premature failure of the catalytic converter and o2 sensor. I am also concerned the excess carbon could build up around the valves causing additional problems down the road after the warranty expires.

My 8 speed transmission seem to wait too long to up shift.will down shift at odd times. When is stop and go traffic around 5-15 mph the truck will lurch forward when coasting or coming to a stop.when truing on the truck and going from park to reverse there will be a loud "clunk" that can also be felt causing the truck to rock.

The transmission failed on my vehicle while going highway speeds.the vehicle shifted into neutral and i was force to pull onto the shoulder.the check engine light came on and would no longer drive without the vehicle being turned off and then back on.it would still repeat this problem over the next 2 miles while i traveled to an exit to get to a safe location.the vehicle was towed to the dealership and inspected.an internal problem was found and the whole transmission has to be replace at about 79000 miles.

Transmission shifts abruptly and torque converter causes shudder at highway speeds. Truck has been serviced twice for the same issue by dealer and dealer recently told me problem is unresolvable.

Sudden jerking while traveling at low speeds. This jerking / shuttering happens while traveling forward, reverse, and coming to a stop. Hard shifting while driving. I've never owned a 4x4 before and thought this was normal when i purchased the vehicle. After reading about this it seems like a known problem for chevrolet, gmc, and cadillac. Link below for exact issues going on with my truck.https://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/08/tsb-seems-to-fix-8-speed-automatic-gm-transmission-problems/

Transmission - when driving the vehicle it does a hard shift when accelerating and decelerating.i have taken the vehicle into the dealer twice.they are saying that is a "state of the art" computer that needs to be reset!!! i am taking it back in for a 3rd time.the care is 2 years old with 31k miles.

Problems with transmission jerking, hard shifting, jumping, only have 60,000 miles on it. Took it back to dealer 3 times and they told me each time it was normal. Told them i have been driving 40 years and that was not normal. They never done anything. Now i am having more problems with it, getting worse. Now i find out there is a lot of people with same problems. Gmc knows something is wrong and should take care of it.

This complaint follows the same pattern for thousands of vehicles manufactured by general motors. The specific component is the 8l90 (rpo-5mu) 8-speed transmission. The vehicle has experienced torque converter shudder since the purchase date of 06/28/2016. Numerous "attempts" via tsbs and cover-ups by general motors has failed to alleviate the common shifting, shuddering, rough shifting, lurching out of control along with appurtenant damage to adjacent components and structures within the vehicle itself. The vehicle manufacturer has attempted to forestall remedy at the expense of consumers. It has knowingly violated specific requirements for merchantability of said vehicle. If such knowledge had been in my possession prior to purchase, i would never have purchased the subject vehicle. Damage to torque converter components via polluted fluid and destructive particles caused by torque converter malfunction are situated throughout the entire structure of the named transmission itself. Valve bodies. Gears. Filters, fluids and tolerances have all been affected by the known deficiency by the stated manufacturer: general motors corporation. General motors has shown neither the desire; nor will, to effect a meaningful and reliable solution to this problem.

8 speed transmission bucks, hesitates, lurches forward, clunks, while in drive. The continental tires are cupping, which gm says is characteristic of the brand. The truck vibrates while at 25mph, around 50mphm and 65-75mph. While in awd/4wd at 30 and 50mph, the driveline makes a whining noise and vibrates sometimes.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While driving various speeds, the vehicle slammed and jerked into gear. When thebrake pedal was depressed, there was a shutter and vibration detected in the transmission. The vehicle was taken to mac haik chrysler dodge jeep ram (12111 katy fwy, houston, tx 77079, (713) 538-2700) where it was diagnosed that the transmission fluid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to monument chevrolet (3940 pasadena fwy, pasadena, tx 77503, (713) 473-7601), but was not diagnosed or repaired. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 9-5585814814, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 50,000.

2016 gm sierra - 85,000 milesnever had many issues with jerking/jumping/braking as many have described.went to accelerate from a stop light and the truck would not shift out of second gear.could not get truck to shift and would then shift hard upon deceleration.took to the dealer service department.they said the torque converter is shot and 4th, 5th and 6th gear is trashed.i only have 85,000 miles on the truck, mostly highway miles and very limited towing on the truck.gm changed their warranty from 100,000 miles to 60,000 miles.i had an extended warranty up to 75,000 miles.now they won't help with any of the cost.would hope they might stand by their equipment a little more than that.especially since they are having some major issues with their transmissions as shown in all the complaints.

The contact owns a 2016 a gmc sierra 1500. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle started wobbling. The vehicle was taken to wallingford buick gmc (1122 old north colony rd, wallingford, ct 06492, (203) 269-8741) where the brake pads on the front driver's side wheel were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and test driven. The technician diagnosed that the rotors needed to be resurfaced, the front brake pads needed to be changed, the transmission fluid needed to be drained, and the computer needed to be reset. The contact retrieved the vehicle and the failures recurred the following day. The dealer advised the contact to give the vehicle a few thousand miles to work out the failures and stated that the transmission was adjusting to the contact's driving habits. The vehicle was not repaired again and the failures were still present. The failure mileage and vin were unknown.

Truck hesitates, jumps, and bumps when applying brakes.when stepping on brakes to stop, it bumps and jumps before it actually comes to a full stop.it seems you really have to step on the brake hard to make it come to a full stop.this is worse on low speed, below 30 mph, stop and go traffic.there were a number of instances i almost rear ended vehicles in front of me due to this problem. The truck also bumps and jumps when taking off.i think this started a few months after i got the truck brand new.it is getting progressively worse. I took it a number of times to gm service center; they did a transmission relearn, software updates, and transmission flush--truck got better for only a few hundred miles, then same problems recurred.the latest couple of times i went back to gm service, they told me nothing is wrong with my truck.it has been very frustrating dealing with this problem and gm service for the past 3 years.

Driving on the highway brakes locked up break pedal super hard to press

Vehicle shakes & vibrates at speedi & other owners are reporting that condition leads to headaches, dizziness, andnausea. This truck is a replacement for a 2014 that exhibited same issues.2014 was traded for 2016 with $$ assistance from gm when they did admit there was no fix for vibration issues. Apparently vibration issues affect 2014, 2015, and now 2016 models. Dealers are flooded with complaints and vehicles in for repair, but there is no repair available. Gm is quietly doing buy backs or offering trade assistance. My 2016 is currently in the shop. Gm factory reps have confirmed that my truck does suffer vibration issues.this issue also affects the chevy silverado, chevy tahoe, and gmc yukon.this is what gm built with tax payer money!i have detailed service reports for 2014 truck as well as correspondence from gm

I have had issues with my gmc sierra since it was new.it has jerked and clunked when i start to go and then left off the gas.there has also been a hesitation when stepping on the guess.i have taken it to the dealer several times and was told things such as: "i just needed to get use to the 8 speed transmission"," the hesitation is when the truck switches from v4 to v8". And "there is nothing wrong".now the warranty has expired and it is getting worse.it now feels like "running over a rumble strip" or like it is "missing" and "hesitating". All of these things occur when the vehicle is in motion.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. When the shifter was engaged, the vehicle did not register the correct gear and failed to move. When the vehicle did recognize the correct gear, it accelerated unintentionally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission was defective and parts in the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150.updated 10/18/16*lj

Truck lurches forward unexpectedly during slow stops such as when approaching a barrier to park, a gate, or pedestrian crossing.as the transmission downshifts, the torque increase causes the brake pressure being applied to become insufficient to stop the vehicle causing it to lurch forward up to six feet.during accelleration while highway driving the transmission may unexpectedly downshift to an inappropriate gear causing the engine rev limiter to engage and reducing power unexpectedly when it should be increasing.

Sometimes at certain rpm when the truck shifts it shift really hard jerking the whole truck

I've had movement in my drivers seat since the day i've owner the truck. Gmc put in a shim kit to address the problem but it's still acting up. They refuse to replace or repair any further. Also my transmission has a horrible shifting problem. When it's cold out or after the first time shifting into gear after sitting a long time, the truck lags to shift into gear then all of a sudden lunges forward or backwards depending on which gear i'm in. I've almost ran through my garage door and side fence and had to slam on the brakes. Gmc has looked into the issues but won't resolve them. The last 'repair' made was to change out the transmission fluid. That had helped with the hard shifting while driving but the truck still lunges forward or backwards and lags shifting into gear. I've had to learn to deal with it but anyone else who would drive my truck could seriously hurt themselves or someone else

The truck shakes on right side, it has done this in the past and was taken into the dealer for repair it worked for a few months then it was back and not it has returned again. It is to the point that if feels unsafe to drive

2016 gmc sierra- bought used hard shifting noted immediately and shuttering on inclines, took to dealership had part replaced- fixed shuttering but not hard shifts- now it not only shifts hard but while i was trying to stop at a drive through the brakes failed- lunges forward almost hitting the car in front of us- next day i pulled into a parking spot same thing happened- brakes would not compress- stood on the brake before it finally stopped- backed up a bit to straighten up and the [xxx] thing did it again in reverse. I'm traveling back home to arkansas from florida in a few days with my children and i'm scared to death to drive this thing. I can't get it looked at before we leave because of the weekend/ christmas break.seriously unsafe vehicle! there should be recalls on these vehicles! i've read so many similar stories, why has this not been addressed yet? gmc should be ashamed.parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Please make gm resolve the issues with the 8 speed transmissions in the trucks. 2016 slt z71. I purchased the truck new. It's never shifted properly. Hesitations, clunking, jerking, shutter, hard down shifts....everytime i take it in, they say it's due for an update. The truck has had 4 updates and none of them have fixed a thing. I had it in before the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty was up and was told it was up to date. Then last week, i took it in and was told it was "several updates behind." (54,xxx) miles. To top it off, general motors wouldn't pay for the $400 update, which didn't fix anything at all!!! the truck jerked before we got a block from the dealership. Gm says that even though the truck is still under a factory 60,000 mile powertrain warranty, transmission updates aren't covered. The 120,000 extended warranty wouldn't cover it because they say it should be covered under the factory powertrain warranty! i absolutely love the truck other than the junk transmission in it. I don't think it's safe or much fun having a vehicle that starts to go then falls flat on its face for a few seconds before slamming into the next gear. This is a major problem with a huge number of trucks. Don't believe me? google "2016 sierra transmission issue" or anything of the sort. You'll see. I'm really not asking for much. I didn't want to put my family in a potentially unsafe vehicle.....yet here we are. Like i said, i'm not asking for much. All i want is for my truck to shift normal. To go when it needs or has to. My truck has had 4 updates and was several updates behind last time, that's roughly an update every 10,000 miles and now they're not covered? on two separate occasions, it's shifted so hard that it jarred my neck and made it sore for a few days! ive even pulled over on the side of the road thinking we were rear-ended. So has my wife. Not safe-not necessary!

Transmission shifts hard going from 1st to 2nd gear with no fix from gm. Complained to dealer they said it's normal and there's no fix for the issue. Issue also persist when going from drive to reverse, a hard shift that i've never experienced before in several previous gm products i owned or currently own. Happens every time i drive the vehicle

8 speed transmission shudder and jerk.have taken it to the dealership several times regarding this issue, nothing has completely fix the issue.

Gm 8 speed transmission is full of problem. It constantly hesitates, hang gears, bucks, and poses various safety concerns. For instance if merging onto the highway the transmission will hesitate and the truck will be unresponsive to gas pedal input for a period of time sometimes up to 12 secs. This hesitation causes a safety concern when attempting to merge into traffic. Gm acknowledges these concerns but states that it is operating as designed but are working on software updates to improve transmission performance. This has been a constant issue since i purchased the truck.

This vehicle suffers from the notorious chevy shakes that is aflicting 2014/2015/2016 gm 1500s.i returned truck one business day after buying it for shaking problems. The shaking/vibrating was felt in the steering wheel, gas pedal, and seat of your pants. They said tires were out of balance.picked up truck to find it still did it the next time out at high way speeds 55-70 mph.2nd trip to the dealer for shaking they said tires needed balanced and i had 1 bad tire they replaced.took truck on another highway trip and problem was still there, shaking same as listed above.3rd trip to dealer fror same thing, they said tire they installed as a replacement was bad? replaced tire and said truck is fixed.took truck on highway same speeds still shakes.vibrating/shaking steering wheel numbs your hands while driving an hour or more on freeway, shakes felt from seat make my 12 year old daughter feel like shes going to throw up if she doesnt get out of truck, wife gets headaches from it and on 2 trips of 2.5 hrs in duration i was physically ill and had to go to bed.the shaking vibrating is like riding upon a massage chair or vibrating motel bed, its horrible.on line there are published articles easily found if you google chevy shakes and just read the complaints.ive submitted the required 4th repair attempt to gm before i can and will lemon law mine but a much bigger preoblem is going on that isnt being looked at with these trucks.http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2016/03/the-mysterious-chevy-shake-is-affecting-pickup-trucks-now-too.html

Constant vibration and or shake at speeds between 60-70 mph.this issue is commonly referred to as the "chevy shake"this issue has been existing since first purchasing this vehicle.i addressed the concern with the dealership during multiple visits for service.as this was my first full size truck, i wasn't sure what to expect regarding how the vehicle would ride at highway speeds.i was told by the service department that the vehicle was in tolerance in regards to how it rode and the constant vibration.so i excepted this as being the norm and went ahead to add some modifications to my truck.since the initial complaint the service department has since turned over most of their staff and added people willing to address and acknowledge that my vehicle indeed has this vibration/shake issue.due to the modifications made they will not address or attempt to correct this issue.had i pressed the issue in the beginning and not accepted what these so called professionals had told me to be acceptable maybe i wouldn't be in this predicament.my vehicle has also been in for numerous bucket seat issues from sagging and poor seat support.everything described here is factual as i have all the service records and history with the same gmc dealership and service department in regards to these problems.long story short, these issues have made long distance trips almost unbearable between the constant shaking and poor seat support.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While driving low speeds, the vehicle shifted up and down very abruptly and shuddered uncontrollably. The failure occurred when accelerating or decelerating without warning. The vehicle was serviced three times at cavender buick gmc north (17811 san pedro ave, san antonio, tx 78232, 210-807-6392) where the transmission software was re-coded and a special transmission fluid was applied to the vehicle. The failure persisted each time after it was serviced by the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving about 70 mph, the vehicle shuddered without warning. The vehicle was taken to the penske buick, gmc of south bay located at 18600 hawthorne blvd, torrance, ca 90504, (310) 853-5860, where the vehicle was diagnosed and technician changed the transmission fluid however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred back to the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000. The vin was invalid.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While driving 65 mph in stop and go traffic, the contact detected a shutter and heard an abnormal noise when shifting gears. The vehicle was taken to marty's buick gmc (5 kingston collection way, kingston, ma 02364, (781) 948-9098) where the transmission was reprogrammed and flushed. The vehicle was then taken to best chevrolet (128 derby st, hingham, ma 02043, 866-208-7873) where the contact was informed that the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 96,794.

When driving in slow moving traffic trans mission feels very jerky and shifts hard. Also when going from park to reverse transmission will clunk very hard causing the truck to move. Truck also seems to hesitate when trying to shift in lower gears while accelerating. This hasbeen an ongoing issue since purchasing the truck brand new from the dealership. Prior attempts for service have been explained by their technicians as being an adaptive transmission needing to learn

Since buying the truck new in 2016 it had a vibration , which got worse as you increased speed, at highway speed, 65-75 mph the vibration is so bad it was making me nauseous. I have taken it to the dealer several times, first balanced the tires and said everything was normal, truck still vibrating. Several more trips to the dealer with the same result.

When traveling low speeds like in a parking lot first gear jerks so bad it feels like someone rear ended you. Going highway speeds between 45 to 75 you feel vibrations coming from the transmission it feels like you're going over rumble strips. I had my transmission flushed and changed it fix the vibrations but 3000 miles later the vibrations started again.

When driving andthe truck shifts gear in 30mphit starts to vibrateor jerk and the rpm just bounces up and downsame thing happens in 40 mph and 50 mph as well i have taken it to the dealer shipin fall of 2019 and all they did wasa trans fluid flush. And worked fine fora bit nowthe truck started to do the same thin in thebegining of july 2020and took it again tothe dealerand they wanted to do the same thing they didin 2019do the trans fluid flush. Not this timemy extended warrantywas not covering itbecause the said it was a maintenance which is not correct because gm know it was an issue and i had already done the fluch back in 2019and the dealer didnt want to cover itethier iwould have to pay almost 500to get it done. I dont know hat else to do

When driving i felt a slight shift between 1 and 2. That seemed pretty normal. While driving to the ocean between 50-60 mph there was not shifting, sharking or jerking. Once slowing down to 30-40 mph the rpms go extremely high to 4 or 5. Pulling and jerking the vehicle. Happening around 20-30 mph or at 40-50. The vehicle will come to a stop causing traffic disruptions and near accidents. No service or coding have been able to diagnose issue with vehicle.

I hit a deer on the highway and the seatbelts locked up on us as we had them on, we pulled off and toke our seatbelts off to see the damage done and now the seatbelts are locked up completely and won't come lose to wear them.

The driver seat does not go up and down.this is a big safety feature purchased newi can barley see over steering wheel why would you make seatslike this

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While the vehicle was stationary, the driver's seat became loose and shifted towards the steering wheel after shifting gears. Sunrise pontiac in memphis, tennessee was made aware of the failure and updated the firmware in the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Rear bench seat headrests do not stay locked in position when raised. Leaning head back onto headrest causes them to lower which could result in injury to the base of the neck or head during a crash. Also, headrests are too low for full size adults to adequately protect the head/neck from hitting glass rear window during hard stop or crash. Took vehicle to dealership to investigate. Dealer indicated all 2016/2017 model trucks on their lot function this way. Asked to report it here. Rear seat headrests need to be recalled to allow for a locking mechanism to be installed. Rear seat headrest design needs updated to increase back of head/neck protection heights during crash.

I had it twice now where i push on the brakes and the brakes become soft and the truck won't stop. I nearly rear ended a car this weekend when suddenly the brakes grabbed but now i'm nervous to drive it in fear of causing an accident or injury i think it's something gm should be looking into for a recal for the safety issue it causes

Vehicle would not brake effectively under normal driving conditions. Serviced at dealer and vacuum pump was found to be defective.

This issue began last year in nov. 2018. We were in traffic and stopping and going until we couldn't stop and the brake pedal was to the floor and the car was still moving. We brought the truck to the dealer and they said it was the brake pads. We payed $1700 to replace all the pads. The other day (3 months with the new brakes) the issue happened again and the truck wouldn't stop, almost causing an accident that could have seriously injured the elderly lady in front of us and ourselves. This issue is getting worse and presents a hazard to us and everyone on the road. This issue occurs at random times, slowing to get off an exit ramp, in traffic, stopping for cross walkers, etc. We brought it to the dealership and they require us to reenact (putting everyone in danger) the issue and until they experience it, they won't fix it. Leaving us with a car that doesn't stop that will sooner or later cause an accident.

When braking at low speeds, especially in reverse, brakes fail.i have to push the pedal all the way to the floor and they still do not operate correctly.this is a consistent, multi-incident, problem since purchase.manifests especially when backing into a parking spot.

I bought my gmc brand new with 25 miles on it. The first time i had a braking issue was pulling into work. I had roughly 56,500 miles on the truck at this point. I was coming in cautiously due to a heavy traffic area. As i pulled into my parking spot i engaged the brakes. The pedal was softer than usual. I pushed down harder and i came to a slow rolling stop. I thought i was going to hit the building. I let the truck sit/run 5min, (i am mechanically inclined, was in automotive tech courses for 3 years) i checked the brakes/brake fluid and tried the brakes in the reverse gear. Let the truck creep back and tested the brakes. They were normal again. I called the dealership and made an appointment.(uploaded service paperwork). Dealer said there wasn't a recall at this time but wanted me to do a brake fluid flush but i wasn't in warranty anymore so it was going to cost me over 100+ dollars. That's why i refused the service. The winter months go by and my brakes are fine. The second time i noticed this issue, was spring time the following year, i was putting my pontoon boat in the water. Backing into the water i went to stop and my truck kept rolling into the water. I engaged the emergency foot brake. I pulled forward and the brakes were back to normal. I test drove the truck in the empty parking lot this time, see if it would happen again. Called the dealership and asked if there was a recall and they said no. Brakes are back to normal at this point.finally that year i received a recall notice in the mail. I went to the dealership completed the recall. I thought everything was fixed. Apparently not. I was stuck in a traffic jam at a slow roll, braking more frequently and the pedal went soft and to the floor again. I almost hit the vehicle in front of me. I stopped just in the nick of time. I am now currently working with the dealership to get this brake issue resolved.

2 times now my truck brakes did not work. I mean, they literally didnt work. The first time it happened my pickup almost hit my house. The second time it happened the pickup hit another vehicle at my home causing damage to both vehicles. I am currently in fear of driving this pickup truck do to these 2 brake failures. Will the next crash actually hurt someone? gmc needs to repair these brake failure issues. Again, there was absolutely no brakes even though i pressed on the brake pedal as hard as i could. The property damage amount from the second brake failure is well over $2,000.00. Please have gmc repair/fix this problem so i can drive my pickup without worry and more damage.

Brakes are hard to pres and cause the vehicle to not be able to stop. The problem occurs at low speeds when parking or at stop lights.vehicle has 48k miles.

I was driving my down a 4 lane highway and when i went to stop i had no brakes and rear ended a vehicle. My break peddle went to the floor.

Brakes were very hard to apply at slow speed.almost caused collision with vehicle.

Vacuum pump failure. The truck had the vacuum pump fail after only 56,xxx miles. The pump failed and cause me a hard brake pedal while coming to a stop. The part internally failed and was not producing enough vacuum to supply the brake booster. After discussing this with the dealer it was a common problem and not covered by warranty.

When attempting to stop at low speeds, experiencing little to no brake pressure in drive and reverse. This is the third occurrance since nov 2018. Symptoms include stiff brake pedal and audible click upon resuming motion and thump felt in brake pedal followed by significantly reduced braking ability. Narrowly avoided three collisions on commute to work this morning in normal traffic conditions.

At startup, if you shift from park to drive or reverse, the brake pedal stiffens and it is hard to stop. If you are able to speed up over a certain speed, say 15 to 20 mph, then the truck brakes fine. I have taken it to the dealer and they replaced the brake booster pump, but it started doing it again within a day or two.

Brakes at low speeds and in drive ways and parking lots when stopping brakes won't work very dangerous a recall was issue but not for my truck, the vacuum pump is bad on my truck

When traveling backwards at low speed it appears that my abs is trying to turn on. The light doesn't come on, but it is very hard to stop. It will do it going forward, but mainly backwards.

At low rpm,'s and at low speed the vacuum assist pump cannot supply enough assist pressure to the brakes, this does not let the power brakes work as they are designed. When this happens, mostly when backing a trailer up but also when going forward at slow speeds, there is no power assist brakes and a type of manual brake exists. This type of manual brake requires maximum leg pressure is required to slow down and/or stop, and when pressure is applied there is a time lag for pressure to be applied so that the vehicle stops.this same problem occurs with no trailer load involved and the vehicle is going slow. It is a dangerous situation when entering traffic at a perpendicular angle. Other complaints have been made regarding the same problem.

Mipowered brake-assist system, which reduces the amount of effort a driver needs to exert to stop the vehicle. If the system fails, a driver may find that the brake pedal takes much more effort to push. Drivers may also find that it takes more distance for their vehicle to stop, which could lead to a crash,

Brake pedal gets very hard can hardly stop rig does it more when going slow then at highway speed got to be very careful cause you have to press very hard to get it to stop

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While driving at low speeds, the vehicle would not stop in a timely manner when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to depress the brake pedal several times to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to ron anderson chevrolet buick gmc (464054 e state road, yulee, fl, (904) 572-4132) where it was diagnosed that the brake vacuum pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 41,000.

At very low speeds such as backing up or parking the brake pedal will not indicate pressure as if the truck was shut off. While backing up or parking you may hit another vehicle. This has happened more than a few times and we returned the truck to have this condition corrected. Gmc dealer said it was a recalled for that issue and it was corrected but it seems to have returned.

Brake pedal rock hard and will not press down

Driving on the highway brakes locked up break pedal super hard to press

While moving slowly in traffic (~5mph) when applying light brake pressure it felt like abs was kicking in and there was no braking. This happened twice before the brakes resumed normal operation. Happened again as i was backing out of my driveway. The recall regarding the reprogramming of ecbm (n192268490) was done already.

Several times i've experienced weak braking a different speeds or while shifting from parking. I also experience the brakes not fully depressing after i step on the brakes. I took my vehicle for a brake inspection thinking i may need new brakes and was told by the inspector that the pads are not the issue, he told me he has never seen an issue similar to what is going on with my truck and instructed me to take it to the dealership. When i contacted the dealership the service advisor told me that it sounds like i just need to replace the brake pads and rotors and told me that he doesn't believe there's an underlying issue based on what i was told at the other service center. Any issues with braking components should be addressed immediately by the manufacturer before people get hurt or someone is killed.

Brakes failed completely at low to moderate speeds both going forward and in reverse.brake pedal went flat to the floor and the vehicle failed to stop.initially occurred november 7, 2018 and has periodically recurred since then.as of march and april 2019 it has begun to recur more frequently.after the initial occurrence i took the vehicle immediately to the dealer.they could not replicate the problem and took no corrective action.they did recommend replacing the front brake pads and machining the rotors, which i had them do.mileage was 44,522 at that time.it is back with the dealer today and the focus seems to be the brake vacuum pump.of course, the vehicle is now out of warranty so i'm waiting to see if they will perform the repairs at gmc's expense or not.if not, i will likely begin contacting other owners to create a group large enough to initiate a class action lawsuit.

We contacted sarah at gmc corporate on 1/2 concerning covering brake repair costs.at the end of last year, my husband had intermittent brake issues while driving at low speeds.we immediately took the truck to the dealer (mid-dec, 2019).this brake recall issue was 'fixed' by fitzgerald gmc in rockville, md.however, after the 'recall reapir,' toward the end of dec 2019 and into jan 2020, the brakes continued to randomly function improperly at low speeds. Fitzgerald wants to charge us for the diagnostic and for repairs ($1100).we are hoping that gmc will cover the cost of fixing this recall issue, as the 'recall fix' from fitzgerald did not resolve the brake problem, and is a safety concern. I we told by sarah that gmc would consider covering as we are just outside the warranty but she would have to escalate the request to a senior advisor.to date (1/10/20) we have not received a response from gmc and our car sits at the dealership!

Vacuum pump failed and replaced at my own expense. Brakes would not depress, were very firm and truck continued to roll even with extra firm pressure on brake peddle.

The brakes are very hard to press at low speed more so after i have pressed them a couple times or more while in motion in stop and go traffic . I had a recall for this about a year ago and took it to the dealer to have it fixed but just started experiencing this problem within the last couple of months. Very scary to not have power brakes all of a sudden! the recall obviously does not fix the problem!!

At slow speed the brake becomes rock hard and cannot be pushed in. I have researched a recall # n192268490. I have searched my vehicle by vin and it states no recall which i don't understand. I believe it is something related to the slow speed brake module. I would like to know if this is an actual recall and why this vehicle is not included.

I have experienced loss of power brake boost on numerous occasions, several times while backing my boat trailer down the boat ramp, and several occasions backing up at slow speeds and going forward at slow speeds (usually less than 5 mph).the brake pedal becomes very hard to depress, and truck feels like it's not going to stop unless i apply extreme pressure.it has been intermittent.i asked my local gmc dealer about the issue this past fall, and was told they couldn't do anything until it failed and could be replicated.i didn't experience it again for several months, but this week it has occurred at least three times.i called dealer to make an appointment, which they did, but they again told me that unless they can replicate it, they won't be able to fix it.i have researched this site and have found a number of instances with both gmc sierra's and chevrolet silverado's experiencing the exact same problem.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While depressing the brake pedal, the pedal traveled to the floorboard and the vehicle was unable to stop. The contact mentioned that the emergency brake had to be applied to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to ferguson buick gmc (1015 n interstate dr, norman, ok 73069, 405-561-4775) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the master cylinder, abs pump, and sensor for the vacuum pump needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred a week later. The vehicle was taken to ferguson buick gmc (1015 n interstate dr, norman, ok 73069, 405-561-4775) where it was diagnosed that the vacuum pump and abs pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,500.

Had to replace vacuume pump after intermittent brake failure at slow speeds with only 38,000 miles on the truck.brake failure would occur without warning.dealership diagnosed the issue after testing he vacuume pump, which was reading 6 psi.was told there have been no recalls for this issue.

At low speeds the vacuum pump gets weak and does not provide the needed vacuum to the brake booster. Resulting in loss of power brakes. While parking i backed up and then pulled forward to straighten up. As i changed direction a pedestrian walked out in front of me and nearly hit them. I had to stand on the pedal with both feet. If my wife would have been driving the truck she would have ran the pedestrian over. The dealer can not replicate the problem and they are not going to replace the booster under warranty. Although gm does have a technical service bulletin in place about this exact issue. Tsb # pit5361c. This is a major safety concern!!!! and gm does not care!

Brakes become stiff at slow speeds now allowing the truck to properly stop

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to apply force to the brake pedal each time the failure occurred. Ourisman chevrolet buick gmc of alexandria (1800 old richmond hwy, alexandria, va 22303, (571) 366-8047) was notified several times for months and stated that further diagnostic testing was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same symptoms as listed in nhtsa preliminary evaluation number: pe18012 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes), but was excluded. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

When traveling at slower speeds in stop and go traffic on the highway the brake peddle becomes very hard and i am unable to stop the truck.no other vechiles were hit, but it was a very uncomfortable situation. This has also happen servel times in forward and reverse within public parking lots. I have been a able to determine the truck loses power brakes when the brake peddle is applied 4-5 times while traveling slow.

While driving at slow speeds the break pedal will not depress. The pedal seems to get stuck. When this happens it is difficult to come to a complete stop.

Lost power brakes when depressing them as i was backing into a parking spot. I had to press repeatedly to get pressure back in the brakes. Luckily stopping in time. It happened again later this evening when i was rolling to a stop at a light. The brakes again lost power and i had to press them repeatedly stop the truck before hitting the car in front of me.

Brake failure - multiple time while driving my 2016 gmc sierra, the pedal has gotten hard & will not stop the car. This generally happens after using the brakes several times quickly. The brake pedal will get hard & the truck will not stop. Luckily i have not been injured but the problem is very dangerous & i fear for my life while driving this truck. There is a technical service bulletin on the problem, tsb # pit5361c, however it is not a safety recall. How many people have to die before the nhtsa enforces a recall?

When braking the brake paddle gets hard and does not allow me to brake. Thankfully it has happen only when i am parking or coming to a stop. Less then a month ago i took it in to our local gmc dealer and in half an hour they said it was fixed. A few days ago it happened again and went back to local dealer and customer service said they can schedule me in two weeks to fix the issue. I don't feel comfortable driving when it's a brake issue i believe it should be fixed or at least try to fix the issue as soon as possible not in two weeks.

In march of 2018, i bought my 2016 gmc sierra 1500 z71 4x4 used with 36,000 miles on it from crain kia of conway, ar. The salesman started off by telling me that they didn't have anything i wanted, but of course when i was about to head out the door, he runs up to me and tells me that he found one that he thinks i would like, told me that they had lost track of it on their lot and it had been there for over 100 days. I liked what i saw, it was a good price, and it seemed like a mechanically sound truck. After about a couple weeks, i began to notice that i was having to pump the brakes just to stop, but didn't seem real bad at the time. The problem only worsened so i brought it by a local gm dealership and body shop to see if they could diagnose the issue, which of course they told me that everything was fine. I continued to drive it and when i wouldn't pump the brakes, they began gliding, almost like i was trying to stop on ice before they would actually come to a complete stop. I had two incidents' regarding this issue with the brakes within two months of each other. The first on july 7, 2018: i was at a stop sign, completely stopped. I was heading left at a three way intersection and there was a car turning right slowly onto the street that i was leaving, so i barely lifted my foot off the brake to make my left turn when the car decided that they were gonna go straight. I immediately slammed on the brakes, but the truck just kept going for another few feet until the brakes finally stopped me along with the other individuals car. I immediately had the brakes checked out again and of course nothing was found. I took it to a different body shop to have the bumper replaced and asked him if he could check it out, nothing turned up.to be continued.........................

At low speed the brakes become hard to stop the vehicle and in reverse the brake pedal become hard and becomes very difficult to stop truck the truck was in a drive through and almost hit anouther car due to brakes failing a service brake booster soon warning came on

The second incident on september 1, 2018: 2016 gmc sierra 1500 z71 4x4 cci was speeding up to merge onto a busy highway in denver, headed to the mountains to take my wife and three boys camping. A car in front of us had began slowing down, so i began slowing down, they slammed on their brakes, so i slammed on mine. The only difference between our vehicles besides size was that they came to a complete stop, as soon as i slammed on my brakes, the truck just glided on the pavement as if it were a sheet of ice. The only thing to stop us was the back of their vehicle! we got a rental truck and carried on with our camping trip. As we drove past the accident scene slowly hours later to head back towards the mountains, (traffic was much lighter) we noticed that the skid marks from my truck were straight with no breaks in the skid lines, which to my knowledge indicates that the abs system was not working properly. I never had any indicator lights show up on the dash. After that accident, my wife and i conducted a lot of research, come to find out that gm trucks had multiple complaints with their brakes, wish i had done my research first.

Brakes became spongy while hauling a boat almost crashed while coming to a stop at a traffic light brakes were hard to compress. Vehicle didn't want to stop immediately... Had to use the emergency brake to come to a complete stop. Right after the service warning sign came on showing ( brake assist service)

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. Within less than a week of owning the vehicle, the brake pedal felt hard and was difficult to depress. Corwin chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat (1025 w sunshine st, springfield, mo 65807, (417) 862-9272) was informed, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle could not be driven safely due to the failure. The dealer stated that the vehicle may be serviced per a warranty, but it would not be in effect for another sixty days. The dealer stated that the vehicle may be serviced for tsb: pit-5361b (additional brake pedal effort). The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

On multiple occasions, the brakes appeared to loose all brake booster function, causing incredibly weak braking at low speeds. Twice it failed in a parking lot situation, where the effect was minimal (just required pushing the pedal with maximum force i could generate) the most recent was a parallel parking situation where the brake failure almost cased a low speed collision. I missed the car behind me by mere inches!! i address this with the gm dealer twice and both times i received "could not duplicate" it will be noted again.this needs to be addressed via a recall as it is a major safety issue, and is not specific to my truck (this has been documented on the internet, and there is a tsb for it which mine supposedly was not part of) the problem is low speed, at idle manuvers where the brakes are replied repeatedly (like parking). I never noticed a problem at any speed above crawl

While backing out of a parking space, i lost the ability to depress the brake pedal.it was stuck momentarily.it only move after i stomped on it twice.afterward, the vehicle would stop, but the brakes were squishy and very easily over applied.service brake control message is now on the dash. Truck has 42000 miles.

When backing into a parking spot at my residence. I pulled forward to straighten out and my break pedal got hard and would not come to a complete stop for a few feet after initiating stopping procedure. I almost ran into multiple vehicles. It was as if i was sliding on ice. I tried it a couple more times thinking it was a fluke and it persisted to continue with the same behavior. I even went as far as turning my truck off and starting it again to see if it was an electrical issue causing it and nope continued to do it. This is a huge issue that needs to be taken care of as i have read multiple complaints over the same thing.

My 2016 gmc sierra has 44,000 miles on it. In the last 2 weeks i have had 3 occasions when traveling at very low speeds the brake pedal becomes stiff and requires both feet to depress enough to get the vehicle to stop. Even when completely compressed with my full force the vehicle continued to roll slowly. One time was in a parking lot and the other 2 times were at drive-thru fast food spots. Brake function seems completely fine at normal operating speeds. A search of the internet led me to find several forums with people describing the exact same situations. At low speeds the brake pedal becoming extremely stiff and cannot be depressed more than 1". I was lucky to be able to stop by putting my truck into neutral. If i had rolled out in cross traffic someone could have been killed. There are way too many stories exactly like mine all over the internet for there not to be a significant problem with the vacuum pump and or brake booster or some other brake system component on 2014-2018 gmc pickups and large suvs.

While transiting on a major highway in north florida the traffic came to a sudden stop and unfortunately when i pressed the brake pedal nothing happened, i had to push the peddle with extreme power and it still was not enough.to avoid the slower vehicles i had to pull the truck onto the grassy median to avoid a possible deadly collision.i was able to recover control of the truck thankfully. Mysteriously the brakes worked again when i came back onto the highway.i took the truck to a nearby gmc service dealer and after the truck was tested they informed me that they found a faulty brake vacuum pump.in discussion with the dealer they also informed me that this is becoming a "somewhat common" issue.without warning or any indicator the brake system failed, this is completely unacceptable.lives could have easily been lost due to a malfunction part. Vehicle only had 27k miles on it.

When moving slowly, the abs errantly actuates resulting extended stopping distance.this happens intermittently.the last time i was moving at a slow (walking speed) pace in a parking lot to position to park.when i applied the brakes (which should have stopped the vehicle immediately) the abs kicked on and, with the brake pedal firmly depressed, the vehicle rolled another 12ft (approx) almost striking another car with some people standing nearby.i feel the vehicle is unsafe and cannot insure an accident will eventually result.

Brakes had already been repaired by dealer under recall prior to this incident. For several weeks i noticed problems. The hill assist would not hold even when braking the truck rolled back on hills. The petal would feel hard like something was keeping it from depressing. Finally, the brakes failed again while i was in line at a fast food restaurant. One second they worked, the next they did not! i was moving slowly and able to put it in park. Got out and asked for help moving it out of line and into a parking spot. I put it back in gear once people had stopped cross traffic and rolled slowly into a parking spot. Approaching the light pole, i depressed the brake again and it would not depress. There was a scraping sound and i pumped them several times, but it didn't feel like there was any give at all. I rolled to curb and put into park.i had the truck towed to dealer, traded it for another car and never drive again. Date was november 15, 2019. 8:30 am. The truck had approximately 50,750 miles on it. Very scary and dangerous as there were many pedestrians including children in parking lot and using crosswalk which transects drive lane. This problem was supposed to have been fixed at dealer just a few weeks before, so fix obviously did not work!!

When i am going at a slow rate of speed at fast food drive-through or backing down my driveway in reverse i go to press on my panel and next thing you know it is is hard as a brick and the vehicle keeps going i hold most didn't stop going down my driveway and hit one of my children i've took it to the dealership twice they say you can't tap your brakes you have to let the vacuum build back up that is no excuse for the vehicle not stopping!!!!this happens daily at some point something has to be done someone is going to get hurt !!!!!!!

I was on my way back from a beach vacation saturday, june 29, 2019 along with two other vehicles driven by other family members.i drive a 2016 sierra 1500 slt with 30,000 miles on it. After driving for 1 1/2 hours with many opportunities to use my brakes, our convoy needed to make a stop to turn left.to my great surprise the power assist was not working. At first i thought i had no brakes at all.i pressed hard with both feet and stopped the truck before i rear ended my son in law and his family. Scared me to death!! i phoned ahead to our lead car and told them i had serious vehicle problems.there's no way i could drive 400 miles with heavy traffic safely. We searched for the nearest gm dealer and selected j. M.jackson in andalusia, al.even though it was a saturday, the sales people called the service manager who came in along with a service tech.shorty i had a new vacuum pump installed and there was no charge since gm had issued a service bulletin. But now i'm worried about another failure.i barely avoided an accident this time.there was absolutely no warning prior to failure . After the initial failure to brake properly, i got a service brake assist message. Very dangerous failure. A crash was narrowly averted.

At low speeds the brakes get very hard to press and the truck takes longer to stop.the service brake light has came on sometimes when this occurs.i've seen an open recall for the exact problem with my truck, but when i enter my vin it says my truck is not part of the recalled vehicles. Please help me

"service brake assist" message has continuously shown up on dash for over a year, especially while at low speed in reverse most commonly. Vehicle feels like power brakes no longer function and vehicle continues to roll unless you stand on the brake pedal. This is supposedly after the recall repair.

Brake assist light came on and i had no brakes when i pushed the pedal harder brakes tried to lock up i almost wrecked

When braking at slow speeds or close distances the truck loses brakes and it seems as if abs kicks on. Brake pedal becomes very hard to push and is almost at floor. Does it in reverse as well as drive. Does this at random times. In order to drive truck safely you have to slow down way before coming to stop.

Brakes fail. Will not allow vehicle to come to a complete stop when going forward or in reverse. When accelerating vehicle violently shakes. This happens at any speed above 20mph.

The brakes get very hard and is very difficult to stop at low speeds. The dealer is fixing it at no cost stating it is a safety issue but not a recall.

Brake pedal becomes extremely hard to depress. The vehicle fails to slow down at a reasonable rate even when very significant (foot) pressure is applied. This occurred many times; three occurrences when backing up and two occurrences when driving forwards. All of these event occurred at very slow speed, basically when moving the vehicle into a parking spot. All events were preceded by slow driving (< 4 mph) for about one minute. The loss of stopping power occurred suddenly; even a few seconds before there appeared to be no issue. Initially it was ignored as an individual occurrence, yet the additional occurrences indicate an issue.

The brakes on my2016 gmc sierra 1500 with only 31,700 miles exhibited a hard brake petal and the vehicle would not stop. This happend at slow speeds while attemping to stop in parking spaces and at red lights on local roads.most frightening waswhile back my truck and boat into a boat ramp the brakes would not stop thevehicle!i brought the truck to the local dealer who replaced the brake booster & the vaccum pump. I questioned if there were any service bulletins and i was told there were none. Fearing this could happen again , i searched on line and found other complaints effecting not only my make and model year but other gm/gmc models and years. I also founda texas lawsuit where the plaitiffs experience was very similiar to mine. I contacted gmc customer support to lodge my complaint and requested an extension to my bumper to bumper warranty . I was instructed to contact my local dealer to purchase and extended warranty. They went on to say there are no service bulletins or recalls for this issue for my vehicle.... This needs to be investigated as i am of the opinion that this is a saftey issue that is not being addressed properly.a vehice with less than 32,000 miles should not be having this type of dangerous problem . I'm of the belief there is a defect somewhere that needs to be fixed based onthe complaints i'm seeing from others online.

My truck brakes don't work when i am going slowly.i have to push in the brake pedal very hard and it feels like i'm stepping on a rock.the brakes don't work when i am moving slowly(drive through, pulling into parking space, pulling into garage, coming to a stop at an intersection when going slow).it is very scary.i have not hit anything yet, but i feel i will.

Pulling into my garage at very slow speed, i depressed the brake pedal and nothing happened.i had to stand on the brake pedal to prevent the truck from going through the wall and into the dining room.thought maybe there was some air in the brake fluid.looked at the reservoir and nothing appeared out of normal.a couple of weeks later, today 12/18/18, while backing out of a parking spot at an autozone, someone walked behind the truck.as i pressed the brake pedal to stop and allow them to pass, nothing happened. The truck kept going.i had to stand on the pedal to prevent my truck from bumping into the pedestrian.both incidents had the vehicle moving at less than 5 mph and idle engine power.

Brake pedal becomes extremely hard to depress. The vehicle fails to slow down at a reasonable rate even when very significant (foot) pressure is applied. This occurred now four times; three occurrences when backing up and one occurrence when driving forwards. All of these event occurred at very slow speed, basically when moving the vehicle into a parking spot. All events were preceded by slow driving (< 3 mph) for about one minute. The loss of stopping power occurred suddenly; even a few seconds before there appeared to be no issue. The issue remained until i put the car in park and turned of the engine. The issue was no longer there when i restarted the engine.the instances of the issue occurred over the last two months. Initially it was ignored as an individual occurrence, yet the three additional occurrences indicate an issue.a similarity of the conditions leading up to the issue is that i drove very slowly on a flat (level) surface. The duration of this drive was maybe a minute or so. (the best way to describe this is how one drives when looking for a parking spot in a busy parking lot with lots of pedestrian traffic).

With 48,000 miles, the brakes are very soft and ineffective at low speeds.both in forward and reverse. In reading on line post, this appears to be a very common problem in 2014-2016 pickups.it appears the vaccuum pump is out and will need replaced.this should be a safety recall as i couldnt stop very well the first time it happened.

Brake pedal becomes hard to push making stopping a problem. Huge safety issue. While in motion at low rpm brake pedal becomes hard limiting the stopping of the truck

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While driving various speeds, the brakes suddenly malfunctioned and the brake pedal became very difficult to depress. The vehicle was taken to coathella valley gmc (78960 garner rd, indio, ca) where it was diagnosed that the brake vacuum pump was faulty. The vacuum pump was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 143,000.

When the peddles are raised and you step on the brake you could be pushing the gas and brake at the same time. When the peddles are lowered this does not happen. A lot of people step on the side of the brake and it happens only when raised.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated while depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal felt very hard causing the braking distance to be extended. The front passenger's side brake rotor was damaged. The vehcile was taken to the local dealer rally chevrolet located at 39012 carriage way, palmdale, ca 93551, who reprogrammed the braking system module however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but, offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 46,000. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While driving low speeds, the brake pedal felt hard and failed to depress. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to suttle motors (12525 jefferson ave, newport news, va 23602, (757) 886-1700) where it was diagnosed that the brake vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 39,578.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the brake pedal became extremely difficult to depress. The contact had to aggressively maneuver the vehicle to avoid a crash. Ourisman chevrolet of rockville (807 rockville pike, rockville, md 20852, (301) 637-6496) had not been able to diagnose the failure. Fitzgerald buick gmc rockville (5501 nicholson ln, rockville, md 20852, (301) 770-3300) diagnosed that the brake booster vacuum was faulty and replaced the part under warranty. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was not available.

I received a warning message on my digital dash display which indicated "service power steering" and my power steering stopped working completely. It was impossible to steer the vehicle and i had to have the vehicle towed for service. The vehicle was parked at the time the warning came on. The mechanic will be evaluating the vehicle in the morning.

I purchased my 2016 gmc sierra sle double cab on 9/13/2016. My truck begins to vibrate/shake at 40 mph and gets progressively worse to 70 mph. The shake can be felt in the drivers seat and floor. The center console shakes and shudders making me feel nauseous and dizzy while driving at hwy speeds. I returned the truck to the dealer within the first 500 miles. The wheels and tires where forced balanced with no relief and then all four tires were replaced. The wheels and tires i purchased with the vehicle were a dealer add of gm 22" wheels and tires. The vibration was not as apparent after the new tires were put on but now that i have put an additional 1700 miles on the truck, the vibration and shake is back as originally reported.during a 3 hour road trip on 11/2/2016 i had to stop and let my passenger continue the trip because i was ill from the shaking and vibrations. My sales person initially told me that what i was experiencing was how 22" wheels feel. I had a 2012 silverado lt z71 and a 2014 silverado lt that had large wheels and i did not have. Any shaking or vibrations.i have made another appointment with another dealer to seek relief.

One day the power steering wouldn't work at all for several trips. I would turn the truck on and a service warning message would display stating "have your power steering serviced" the next day the power steering quit working while in the middle of a turn. Received the same warning as i received several times the day before.

Power steering stopped working for 2 seconds while i was driving. I suddenly felt steering being heave and losing control and brakes was not working at the same time. Luckily i was going slowly around 20 mph in neighborhood. It could have been worst if i was in free way.

Power steering keeps going out for a short period time then starts again ,check power steering light comes on then goes off.this has happen about 20 times in less than year and half while driving in city and highway and parking lot.dealer says they can't find anything

I purchased a new gmc sierra from royal automotive gmc in vestavia, al on may 12, 2016.since the time of purchase, there has been a vibration present, and noticeable at speeds above 60 mph.i have taken the vehicle in to royal three times and they have yet to remedy this issue.while obviously annoying, the issue causes me headaches, and i question whether it could lead to safety issues.i'm currently working directly with gm on the issue, but there is still no resolution.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that there was a slight clicking noise in the steering wheel when it was turned left to right. Expressway chevrolet buick gmc (4000 in-62, mt vernon, in 47620, (812) 307-9993) diagnosed that the steering rack failed and would cost $2,000 to repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 45,000.the consumer stated the battery was replaced and the clicking steering rack noise was no longer heard.

I was driving my down a 4 lane highway and when i went to stop i had no brakes and rear ended a vehicle. My break peddle went to the floor.

Rear window shattering.apparently from what i have read, it has something to do with rear defroster shorting out and over heating window.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. 8 speed transmission bucks, hesitates, lurches forward, clunks, while in drive.

Recall#42190 upper control arm broke on my gmc sierra 1500. I was driving out of a church parking lot and made a left turn on to a city street and my right front passenger tire fell off. I contacted gm warranty department and got it towed to dalton motors in marianna, ar. The technician stated that i had been in an accident. That wasn't true. He called sunrise gmc in memphis, tn off covington pike and told them all types of lies and to not fix it. I took it to sunrise on november 20, 2017 and the technician looked at it for 5 seconds and said i hit a pot hole and that he would not fix it or honor my warranty. A pot hole didn't cause this problem.i currently have a 5 year 36,000 mile warranty that covers this problem. There is also a current recall on this issue and i was not notified when i purchased the vehicle. I had to look it up on my own.

Front end upper control arms and struts are broken causing a grinding popping sound. My vehicle has never been off roading, all highway miles. Nhtsa shows a recall article on this particular mechanical issue (see attachment) as a recall for 2016 models. My vehicle has not reached the three year warranty, but is over the 36,000 mile warranty. Since it has been a recall issue, i am requesting a recall that gm should take care of. However, gm refuses to handle all cost because it is out of 36,000 mile warranty.

The contact owns a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. While driving 75-80 mph, the vehicle vibrated without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

The truck shakes on right side, it has done this in the past and was taken into the dealer for repair it worked for a few months then it was back and not it has returned again. It is to the point that if feels unsafe to drive

The 2016 gmc sierra has a constant vibration which is felt through the seats and the steering wheel.the condition is identical to those submitted for the 2014 and 2015 gmc and chevrolet models

I have a 2016 gmc sierra 1500 5.3l.i've brought the truck down to the dealer 4 times now because the ac doesn't blow cold air.the ac stopped working again this week with the truck only having 2,800 miles on it.i called gmc directly (not the dealer) because i don't want to bring the truck down to the dealer for the 5th time for the same issue.it's 85+ degrees now where i live and driving without ac is unbearable, especially when in traffic.gm sent me an e-mail informing me the ac condenser is faulty by design and a 'redesign' has been created.the part is on "national back order" with no eta.they said it could be 4-6 weeks which means driving my truck without ac is very uncomfortable and not an option with children in the truck who can't withstand the heat.i'm reading on various forums that people have been waiting since march (4 months) for the new condenser to come in.

Air conditioner stopped working at 70,000 miles

Vehicle has a vibration that gets worse as speed increases.gm not being able to determine the origin of the problem has said it is not a safety issue.the very fact that they cannot find the origin makes it a potential safetyissue. After much diagnostic work and parts replacement still no answer.

Antenna has cracked seal and moisture got in and shorted out navigation & on star. Bulletin for problem with same year, make & model but not vin. Refuse to fix. Claim its not a safety issue. Not a great statement to make to a first responder who has saved lives by someone using on star. No more gm's for this family and we have 3 currently and was looking to replace one next month. Not a ford person so looks like a ram in our future. Not a safety issue .... Really gm !!!!!!!!

Ac condenser failed at 40000 miles. Gm has extended warranties for their suvs related to this common and known issue, however has not included their trucks in the warranty extension. The faulty condenser is the same exact part for the trucks as the suvs and as such should be included as well.

Smelled electrical burning and then seconds later the driver side of my rear window exploded into pieces with a loud bang.

No warning lights were illuminated however, the contact stated that the vehicle was in in the four wheel drive option as well as the rear defrost system was engaged. The failure mileage was 47,417.

Air conditioning failed. This needs to be documented. Not a "safety" issue at first, but with pets and kids it can become one. I have owned this truck for a little over a year. I bought it used for over $35,000. It had 50,000 miles on it. My first summer the a/c worked, but not great. Last week i tried to use my a/c and nothing but hot air. I thought it was strange being only a couple years old. I paid to get the freon re-charged. The freon leaked out after 2 days and a/c stopped working. I had to schedule a diagnostic appointment for $118. I have done research and it sounds like i should be looking at a repair costing anywhere from $800 to $2,000. There have been several online complaints, along with a class action law suit to cover this problem. The issue is that it is a "luxury item" not a safety item. It needs to be documented on all websites that this is an issue, so consumers can be informed. This can be dangerous when traveling with young children and pets. The air that comes out of the vents is extremely hot. In hot temperatures this can become dangerous.

We have violent shimmy/shaking issues with our truck and have since we got it brand new.we have taken it to the dealer 5 times and even had the dealer witness the shaking the last time while on a test drive.they replaced the torque converter, rebalanced the wheels, and rotated the tires and the problem continues to happen repeatedly.we do not feel safe driving this truck any longer as it happens at speeds above 40mph.the dealer says they can't fix it if they don't know what is wrong.

I used my remote start to start my 2016 gmc sierra to warm it up while cleaning the snow off my other windows. I smelled smoke and noticedmy drivers side back window completely shatter before my eyes. Upon further investigation i see many ppl that have reported similar incidents occurring in gmc vehicles years 14-18 some even with shards shooting into their vehicles. This is completely ridiculous, and extremely unsafe and could seriously injure someone. The vehicle was stationary and started by remote start

The vehicle shakes at high speeds of 40 mph and higher.

I was driving down road and back drivers side window exploded. My granddaughters were sitting in their car seats and were showered with glass. The window literally blew up. I called dealer, he said he's never heard of such a problem. I found several complaints on my gmc forum page and wxyz 7 in detroit, mi. Has run stories on this problem.

Ac condendor. I am having to replace the ac condendor on a 2 year old truck at a cost of over $1000. Truck is just over dealer certified warranty by 6,000 miles with 54000 miles. After being told by dealer that this was a known issue and researching online, it appears that is a costly repair that is affect large numbers of owners. Gm has offered extended warranty on similar vehicle that have this engine and condendor setup but not included the sierra. Appears to be a known manufacturer defect that they are not covering.

Rear window glass on driver side of sliding rear window exploded after using defrost in cold weather while driving on the interstate.

When is riding it on the road it shake ,on the road is when it do it

Here is what happened regarding the rear sliding-window shattering (and nearly a fire) in my 2016 sierra: on january 1st, 2020, i was driving straight at approximately 30 mph on a smooth, level city street (no potholes or road defects, etc.)in 25-degree weather with my rear-window defroster on when i smelled something burning and looked in mirror and saw smoke and a few seconds later the driver's side glass-panel of my sliding rear-window shattered. There was no ice on window at the time and i had been driving approximately 7 minutes. I know that gm has acknowledged this problem and issued a recall #n192220470 on canadian vehicles, and that there is a major fire hazard. I spoke with anderson chevrolet and grossinger gmc this morning (january 2nd) and was basically dismissed and told to call gm about it, they won't help me.

A/c stopped working. Great on friday, did not drive over weekend, hot on monday.

A week after purchasing my new 2016 gmc sierra denali 1500 short bed i began noticing a strong vibration/shake that could be felt while in motion at highway speeds between 75-80mph. The flatter the road the stronger the vibration can be felt at these speeds. I have brought it in twice to the dealership i bought it from and once to another dealership yielding no fix to the problem. Actually, i have been told there is no problem and that is how the truck rides. I have also been told my expectations for a pickup truck "unrealistic."when the front and passenger seats physically shake at the speeds mentioned i find it very hard to believe that there is no issue with the vehicle and that my expectation should be considered unrealistic. Driving the truck long distances on the highway is unpleasant at best creating at times feelings of nausea. I have zero confidence the issue will be addressed, but wanted to air my complaint for other potential buyers. This truck is supposed to be the top of the line and i absolutely regret buying it with this persistent problem present that nobody wants to address.

(1) the truck hesitates and the engine almost shuts off like it's not getting enough gas, it does this for about the first 45 mins. Of startup.(2) the battery has been replaced for the second time and even with a new battery it sounds like it's barely got enough power to start the engine

Drive truck to the store got back home when i shut my door stationary i heard a loud shattering sound it turned out to be my rear window looked online it looks like this is becoming a common occurance called gmc they said it is all he say she say and no recall is available, if there had been a person in the back seat they would have possibly been injured with the glass exploding

Wipers do not move fast enough to clear the rain from the windshield making it impossible to see 5 feet in front of you.this is a safety issue.the blades need to move more quickly to clear the windshield making it safe to operate when it rains.

Smelled electrical burning and then seconds later the driver side of my rear window exploded into pieces with a loud bang.

Vehicle was remote started- rear defrost turned on automatically due to outside temperature. Rear defrost overheated and shattered rear power sliding window (rpo a48) while stationary. Burning smell was noted. Gm claims my vin is not associatedwith special customer satisfaction program n192265660.

The 2016 gmc sierra has a constant vibration which is felt through the seats and the steering wheel.the condition is identical to those submitted for the 2014 and 2015 gmc and chevrolet models
