Takata recall..received a recall notice on 07/2016/ from gmc about defective air bag. Letter says "no need to take action now. You will be notified when parts are available to remedy your vehicle."i have never been notified by gm..still waiting, i now have a college student driving this pickup and would like some attention.

Dash broke at the air bag, if it was to deploy will send sharp pieces of plastic at the driver and passenger.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2013 gmc sierra. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v053000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to call the local dealer to schedule an appointment. The contact called the dealer and an appointment was scheduled however, after calling the dealer back to change the appointment date, she was informed that parts were not yet available. The contact owned a 2013 gmc sierra 1500. While driving on the highway and making a left turn, the contact's vehicle was struck on the front passenger side by an oncoming vehicle driving 67 mph. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact was injured and received medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a wrecking yard. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

Safety issue with cracks in the dashboard in the upper left portion of the passenger side airbag. If the airbag goes off, either in accident or in error, parts of the dashboard will dislodge and be a danger to the occupants.

I received a recall notice in july 2016, i inquired at the dealership about having the recall done. I was told that they do not have the parts during my first inquiry. On my 2nd inquiry, i was told that gm was awaiting court proceedings to be resolved regarding gm's responsibility and/or cost. Since then to date, my dashboard at the area of the passenger airbag has cracked and i still have not been able to resolve the matter.

The contact owned a 2013 gmc sierra 1500. While making a left turn onto the highway, another vehicle traveling 67 mph crashed into the rear passenger side of the contact's vehicle. The contact mentioned that the vehicle spun around and was stopped by a curb. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact became unconscious as a result of the crash and sustained a laceration to the head, bruises to the neck, back, and hips, which required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The dashboard has severe cracks in front of the driver above the instrument panel and also around the passenger airbag.these cracks are resulting from a poor design and not from any accident or misuse.this is a well known issue with this vintage of truck and has affected many owners.this is a safety concern because in the event of a accident that deploys the airbags, the manufacturers defective dashboard would shatter and yield projectiles within the cabin area.the dash requires full replacement and cannot be repaired.

My complaint is for the cracked dashboard just above the forward left corner of the passenger side airbag compartment. The dash cracked for no apparent reason; there is no known cause. My concern is both cosmetic and safety. Not only should a vehicle less than 5yrs old not have a cracked dashboard, but since the dash is cracked directly adjacent to the air bag compartment, and is apparently prone to cracking, there is the potential for the dash to splinter and project small pieces of plastic into the body of passengers if the airbag were to be deployed.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2013 gmc sierra 1500. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 21v053000 (air bags). The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The part was not available for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts are available.

There is a crack on the dash around the passenger airbag, my concern is in an accident if the dash will become shrapnel if the airbags go off.

Installing a child restraint system on the passenger side of truck. If the airbag went off it would injure or kill the child. The vehicle is equipped to hook up a car seat. There is no device to turn off the airbag when a child is in their seat. Nobody mentioned this when purchasing this vehicle that you should not install a car seat. Went to michigan state police car seat expert and the sarge tells me she has tried to get them to install a switch. I have the federal form saying i assume all liability . There either needs a switch or say you should not install a car seat. Calling gm i was told to put the child seat in the back. I have only one seat no back seat. I asked if i should install it in the bed of the truck. There response was put car seat in the back seat. I would if i had one!. I am afraid to carry my granddaughter in my vehicle. The sargent confirmednot to place car seat in the middle because if the drivers airbag went off it would kill her. The manual say don't put the car seat in the middle. If placed on the passenger seat it would hurt her and possibly break both legs. Gm refuses to install a switch even at my expense. They say it is a liability. It seems to me they are liable if they don't. Need some help so more kids don't get hurt.

The dashboard has cracked in several places, and i believe, it is going to effect the air bag system and dashboard wiring, which could lead to the passenger air bag not deploying or engine stalling at speed because of pieces of dash falling into the wires.

The contact owns a 2013 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the air bag indicator remained illuminated for at least two years. The vehicle was taken to vince webb cadillac of pensacola (5651 pensacola blvd, pensacola, fl 32505, (850) 912-9372), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 120,000.

My dashboard has a crack that appeared today that's located on the top left corner of my passenger side airbag. I called gm today and told them of the situation and they stated that they're aware of these cracks however there isn't a recall due to it not being a safety issue while driving. The gm lady asked me how many miles are on my truck so i told her it only has 29,204 miles and i'm the original first owner and bought my truck brand new from the dealer. She then stated that the truck is already over the 36 month / 36,000 mile warranty therefore it's not covered for a free dashboard replacement. Can someone at the nhtsa please help me out or point me in the right direction so i can get this problem resolved. Thanks in advance.

Crack in dashboard by passenger airbag...afraid it will deploy

Dashboard cracked in several places near front passenger airbags

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2013 gmc sierra 1500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v054000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. No dealer was contacted. I have a couple cracks on my dashboard around the passenger airbag. I asked the dealer to replace it for free. They want to charge me 300 dollars.

2013 gmc siera15004wd it has been garage kept and hand washed! the dash is cracked over the steri g wheel and the passengers side airbag! this can't be safe! not to mention it just turned to 40000 miles! and! the paint will chip off if so much as a fly hits it! and the paint on the roof has bubbles it! and they say it's hail damage! reallly on just that part of the truck? i will never purchase another gmc ( although me and my husband purchased 2 new ones within 6 months) they are cheaply made and expensive to buy! they should be banned from selling such junk! and they made the mo ey now they are double dipping maki g all these people fix these wretched dashes on new vechicles! shame on you!! and when your bankrupt from injuriesdue to yournegligence it will be a blessing!!!

The dash formed a crack starting from the passenger airbagi am worried if the airbag was to deploy it would cause the dash to break, shooting pieces throughout the truck and cause more damage than itwould normally cause without a crack.

My gmc sierra 1500 has numerous cracks across the upper dash that have appeared over the life of the vehicle. I attempted to have the dashboard replaced under warranty but was denied. I recently had the passenger airbag replaced due to a recall. The dealership refused to replace the dashboard, and when they replaced the original cracked dashboard, many of the cracked pieces did not line up, leaving the dash looking further damaged. Please force gmc to offer a recall of the substandard dashboard, or replace the dashboard during the replacement of the airbag.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2013 gmc sierra 1500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: number 21v053000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. On or about 10-14-2020 i had got a call from myniece that she was at a parking lot and the truck didn't want to run the same. She was passing a intersection when she heard avery loud pop noise and a very scary noise coming from theengine. The noise did shack her some butwhen she notices the truck had lost its power she was more scare that she was going to get hit by a other car came out to be the lifters and camshaft . Where they been having class actsions law suits with gm motors for the same problemwith other gmc year from 2009-2015 5.3 vortex engins and gmc knew about it before the sold the very first truck its a $10,000.00 dallors repair andwith the bank finance i will be paying more then 25,000.00 after cost and this truck blue book its at 15,000.00 last time i check it so its not worth putting so much more money for that year of truck. I had tryed to work things out with the dealership as well with gm motors and had no luck or even a call back from both sides. I ask that if youcaninvestigate this mattersome more i will gladly appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

I purchased my 2013 gmc sierra 1500 sle ext cab brand new. I have had to replace the drivers side master window switch due to failure, replaced under warranty. I now have to replace the switch again as it has failed. I just saw a nhtsa recall id number :18v295manufacturer :general motors llcsubject :liquid may leak into power window switchmakemodelmodel yearschevroletexpress2014-2017gmcsavana2014-2017 . I believe there is a serious issue with the switches in my model truck aand it should be checked out. I have owned many vehicles and never have i had to replace a master window switch 3 times, there is a problem with these switches.the rear passenger window worked intermittently , then the rear drivers side also worked intermitenly, now all 4 windows work intermittently.

I went and got an alignment,a day after the stabilitrak and traction control message came on. I went back to see if it could be fix it and was told it didn't come on when they test drove it. The same day it came on again, so i went to a gmc dealership. I was told my steering wheel pos sensor is bad. I was in motion on a city street, going and coming from work(happens in same exact spot on the street(s).this is my only form of transportation and what i need to do.

Theres electrical problems going on, having interior lights go on and off, drivers door handle broke from normal wear and tear, passenger headlight keeps going out after about 2 weeks too a month, drivers side controls don't want to work all the time to try to roll up and down the windows, move both electrical mirrors, unlock the doors.

Heard a laud pop and grinding noise on my 2013 5.3 vortex v8 gmc from the motorwhere i had to stop it because i thought my motor was going to luck up on me. I pulled over on the side of the road on missouri and triviz. Where my wife had to pick me up 1 hour after the the fact to haul it back home. Got home where i did my research to find parts and labor coast for my truck and came across some active class action lawsuits on gmc for same tape of engine the 5.3 vortex and same and 1 year older or 1 year newer having the same problem. Where cases been open since 2016 and still open now for gmc to perform that kinda ofengine to be called as a re-call. I then got a hold of gmc motors to see what they can do for me not being the only one with this kind of problem to see if they can help me in any kind of way and they respond was for me to take it to a certified dealer in las cruces, nm for gmc.i did just that then where i was rejected by the dealer because they had no information about what i and my wife just had discover back home. The reason why gm motors wanted me to take the truckwas for them to do a full dynastic on the truck to see if it was the lifters that was wrong with it. Came to be it was the lifters and as well for the camshaft where they give me all paperwork about my truck and how much to fix it we are looking at 5,000.00 to replace the lifters and camshaft or 10,000.00 to put a new motor and the gm motors denied to help or to fix or replace the motor and camshaft or even try to meet me half way on expenses for my truck to get it up and running again. We got back home and talked to a lawyer that been fighting some cases since 2016 and added he added me to the others cases for the class action lawsuit for gmc not fallowing with there responsibilities for there action about the 5.3 vortex from 2012-2015makes and models with this kinda of motors

Check engine comes in related to low oil pressure sensor causes an emissions light to which will not pass inspection. Have changed oil pick up tube o ring, which was not damaged, pressure sensor and screen have been changed. No mechanics or local dealers have any idea how to fix this issue. While driving the truck and stopped in traffic or at a very low speed the oil pressure light comes on.

Oil consumption during normal operations is excessive.

Headlights are not as bright as my old gm truck. High beam extends the distance but does not increase in brightness. Not very good in rainy weather. Seems that the headlights are not even on. Very easy to "overdrive" the headlights.

The contact believed that the lumbar support in the seat failed. The vehicle was taken to johnson motor company of georgia cadillac (1122 walton way, augusta, ga 30901), but was not diagnosed or repaired. On 3/4/2018 i took my truck in for a broken leaf spring. When the mechanic was replacing the springs, he notes holes rusting in the trucks frame. I did buy the truck used from a chevrolet dealer on 3/12 2016 with @49,000 miles on it. With in 6-8 months of owning the truck, it started to rust on the fender wells, and had some rust on the frame. When i talked to the dealer they said there is nothing they can do for me because the 6 year or 100,000 mile warranty ran out on 10/1/2018. I called gmc customer care about this and they did open a service request [xxx]. On 4/8/2019 service manager for the dealer told me the gme will do nothing for me because it will cost $12,000.00 to replace frame bet may ofer me a certificate for $1000.00 towards a new trucks. I fell this is unexceptionable to me because the safety of me and my family when we are in the truck. We brought the truck because in has a good safety rating be with holes rusting in the frame i fell my safety is compromised every time i drive it.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Cracked dashboard top left corner of passenger airbag .

The edge where the front windshield and the roof meet the paint has flakedawayand started to rust the undercoat.

Safety issue with cracks in the dashboard in the upper left portion of the passenger side airbag. If the airbag goes off, either in accident or in error, parts of the dashboard will dislodge and be a danger to the occupants.

I went underneath my sierra today and found the entire frame is extremely rusted. Upon closer examination i found a 3 inch by 3/4 inch hole rusted through.this truck just turned 6 years old and has 100000 miles . This is a saftey issue because with the truck being able to tow heavy loads.

The dashboard has cracked in the area of the airbags and instrument panel. The cracks occurred while parked overnight in my driveway. Icontacted the local gmc dealer who informed me this was a common occurrence with gmc vehicles. I asked if gm would cover the repair since this was a common problem with gm vehicles. I was informed it was not covered by gm and i would be responsible for the cost of repairs which total approximately $1000.00. I believe these cracks create a safety hazard and are a result of defective parts installed by gm.

As i was driving down a smooth interstate highway, heard a pop and noticed the dash had cracked at the corner of the passenger air bag and started making a noise. A few days later the same thing happened, but on the drivers side above the instrument cluster.the one crack has become a cut/scrape hazard while cleaning.i assume that it will become larger. Possibly exposing the air bag assembly to damaging heat and sun exposure.

The contact owns a 2013 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the dashboard exhibited fractures above the front passenger side air bag area. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 20,473. ...updated 05/19/17

Paint above the windshield is separating from the primer in large sheets. One large area approximately the size of a volleyball with multiple small areas along the edge of the windshield across the top. Also has an area on the right rear quarter panel the size of a half dollar where the paint separated from the primer and fell off. Vehicle stays parked most of the time in the garage. I first noticed the paint peeling after coming out of work where the vehicle had been parked in the sun.

My roof has developed "peeling paint" to expose the primer.

I haven't had the truck for that long and i take very good care of it. So the fact that my door handles and siding are falling off of the truck just shows that you used very cheap products for a non-cheap vehicle. Gmc should be ashamed. I'm thinking about going with a ford. Didn't see any bullshit problems like this on their recall list

Cracked dash.

Cracked dashboard near air bag. I have 3 cracks on the dashboard. This is very common ive been reading. Is this a safety issue regarding the air bag?

'tajara recall' i have a consern about my dash cover it's crack from where the passenger airbagand the center of the of the dash. Wile going in google how to replace the dash there wher a numeres of complaints about the same issue on all gmc sierra and chevy silverado from years 2007-2013. I think this could be a safety consern in case of an accident and air bags ignite the dash cover could break in pieces and and someonecould get seriously injured i'm saying for my safety and my family safety as well .

On 8-25-20, i took my 2013 gmc sierra to an automotive repair shop in genesee, wi, for a brakes and shocks inspection/repair. They refused to work on it because they said the frame was 'broken and cracked' due to excessive rust perforating the frame. The service manager told me my sierra should not be driven because it is unsafe, especially since the worst frame damage is immediately adjacent to the gas tank. I was shocked because my vehicle is in otherwise excellent condition!on 8-26-20, i called and sent photos (see attached) to the service manager at the gmc dealership in waupaca, wi, where i had purchased the vehicle new. He stated he would not drive my sierra and nor should i. He referred the matter to his gm rep to set up an official gm pet case. The case was subsequently refused due to 'no history' at the waupaca dealership. They suggested i call a gmc dealer in waukesha where i do have an established history. The service manager there also said my sierra should not be driven and that 'the frame could buckle if put on a hoist.' he also refused to help me. On 9-2-20, i contacted gm customer care and received an escalated case number. On 9-9-20, a senior advisor from customer care said she would look into the matter but could not guarantee anything because the vehicle was 'out of warranty' with its 115,000 miles. On 9-17-20, the advisor said the only thing gm would do is offer me a $2,500 allowance if i would trade in my gmc for a new model. I rejected this offer as i firmly believe the rusted and perforated frame is a manufacturer's defect and should be recalled. This is obviously a serious and dangerous safety issue that all owners of 2013 sierras should immediately be made aware of!

Paint is coming off in large areas and rust spots starting to form where paint has come off. Paint came off when driving vehicle in rain.

The contact owns a 2013 gmc sierra 1500. While the vehicle was being inspected at an unknown dealer in appomattox, va, the technician informed the contact that the idler arm, tie rod end, and the pitman arms needed to be replaced. The technician stated that the parts were not lubricated. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to call nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000.

I was underneath my truck for a minor sensor repair around the end of march. I found a significant hole rusted through the left frame rail.i made contact with general motors about the severity of rust in and on my frame. They had a local dealership evaluate the frame. After several people and many weeks. The best gm is willing to do is offer a $100.00 service voucher.this a a truck ,that hauls ,tows and carries loads and family.i do not believe in 6 years and 100800 miles the frame should have to be welded.gm says that my perforation warranty expired in november or 100400 mile. This is a major saftey issue.toyota addressed there frame issue why is general motors any different? i would appreciate an investigation into this !!@

Dashboard cracked could affect air bag when deployed

The dashboard has cracked in several places, and i believe, it is going to effect the air bag system and dashboard wiring, which could lead to the passenger air bag not deploying or engine stalling at speed because of pieces of dash falling into the wires.

Cracked dashboard top left corner of passenger airbag .

I parked at my place of work, i put my windshield shade up as i do everyday, and when i came outside to go home i noticed a crack on the dash on the upper left dash section by the airbag, i'm worried if the airbag were to deploy the dash could splinter sending pieces of sharp plastic at the passengers.

Dash board cracked like everyone else is reporting....just want to let others know......gmc dealer replaced mine...no charge because it is a known problem

I have a couple cracks on my dashboard around the passenger airbag. I asked the dealer to replace it for free. They want to charge me 300 dollars.

A crack has developed on the right corner of passenger side dash that borders the passenger side dash airbag. Several people i work with have developed the same problem in their gm trucks as well. If the bag deploys more than likely the bag will tear due to the sharp crack edges and because of the force shards of plastic dashboard will be flying shrapnel inside the cab. I refuse to have my children sit in the passenger side let alone an adult. When do you plan on making this issue a safety recall? when pieces of dashboard and airbag blinds somebody?

Theres electrical problems going on, having interior lights go on and off, drivers door handle broke from normal wear and tear, passenger headlight keeps going out after about 2 weeks too a month, drivers side controls don't want to work all the time to try to roll up and down the windows, move both electrical mirrors, unlock the doors.

The dash formed a crack starting from the passenger airbag overnight. It continues to grow daily. I am worried if the airbag was to deploy it would cause the dash to break, shooting pieces throughout the truck.

The dashboard suddenly cracked near the passenger side airbag.it appears to be in the corner of the airbag where, if deployed could possibly damage the airbag causing a malfunction which could result in serious injury or death.as of now, i am not aware of any recalls for this however, i have found an article where gm is not claiming responsibility for cracked dashboards.

My dashboard is cracking/cracked on my 2013 gmc sierra. Getting worse and worse. I have noticed similar complaints online. A lot of them. Looks to me like a manufacturer defect. Therefore, i am filing this complaint

Dashboard is cracking near the passenger side airbag

Door locks and horn cycle anytime with or without key. Parked or driving.

Passenger and back seat in the crew cab are coming off of the brackets. I took my car to dealership and they could find a problem. I ggogled problem and there are many customers with the same issues. The seats are coming away frombthe clamps or bracket to hold the seats secure. This is unsafe. I have a rattling andbclick clacking sound while drive in motion over rough roads or bumps.

Dash broke at the air bag, if it was to deploy will send sharp pieces of plastic at the driver and passenger.

Cracks on upper hard plastic dash panel just to the left of the passenger air bag. Worried that if the bag deploys it will cause hard plastic shards to fill the passenger compartment. Another crack has developed just to the left of the steering wheel in approximately the same place. Had this also happen on a 2009 gmc yukon which we have since sold.

Have a crack in dashboard by passenger airbag and behind center of gauge cluster on drivers side. Purchased vehicle used and didn't notice cracks till i had driven car home.

Dash developed terrible cracks ! rear door handle broke loose.

I took my truck in for service to find the heater core was bad.to replace, the dashboard would have to be removed.i already had a small crack in the dash located right above the passenger airbag. After service was performed at the dealership, the dashboard now has two more cracks in it.the dealership said i will have to pay 40% and the clock in now ticking.the longer i wait, the less gmc will pay to replace.even though the service advisor told me that gmc is having trouble with the dash cracking, peeling, etc.

I went underneath my sierra today and found the entire frame is extremely rusted. Upon closer examination i found a 3 inch by 3/4 inch hole rusted through.this truck just turned 6 years old and has 100000 miles . This is a saftey issue because with the truck being able to tow heavy loads.

Cracked dashboardthe dashboard of my gmc sierra as a vertical crack running directly next to the passenger side airbag. This happened suddenly while at a stand still. My concerns is what happens should my truck endure a crash. I worry that the broken dashboard could interfere with the performance of my airbag.

Large cracks are forming on the dashboard. One crack is located near the speedomoder column and the other decendsfrom the passenger airbag.

The dashboard has cracks in multiple places...concerned about flying plastic piece if airbag is deployed

A crack suddenly appeared at the corner of my dashboard and the dashboard air bag cover that opens when deployed.i have parked my gmc in the garage every day since i brought it home from the dealer.i use a windshield reflector when parked outside at the market ect... I have read on line that there is a major problem with this happening to owners of like gmc's and year mine is a 2013 sierra 1500.it appeared suddenly for no reason.i feel it can affect the air bags ability to deploy correctly affecting mine or my family's safety if in an accident.i would think gm should repair this issue at no charge to me, it's a manufacture defect.

The contact owns a 2013 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that water became trapped in the headlight assembly and impacted visibility while driving. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 18,300. Updated 01/05/2017*ct

Two of the four wheels were losing air and tested locally. It was determined air was leaking from each of the two rims in a similar location. Note-air was not leaking from the tire or the seal between the tire bead and rim. Instead, the rim itself appears to have a latent defect causing a slow leak. I contacted a local gmc dealer to see about warranty coverage or manufacture interest in assisting with this safety issue. Vehicle is out of warranty and gm was willing to participate at 10% of new replacement cost, see attached. Two of the four rims were tested for the defect. Both rims exhibit the same defect. That 1/2 of the rims on my one truck are leaking, it suggests a larger defect in the standard rims. I am concerned about motorist safety resulting from defective rims.
