Dash board is cracking around passenger airbag and airbag light is now on.

Takata corporation ('takata') has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2007-2011 cadillac escalade, escalade esv, escalade ext, chevrolet avalanche, silverado 1500, suburban, tahoe, gmc sierra 1500, yukon, yukon xl, and 2009-2011 chevrolet silverado 2500/3500 and gmc sierra 2500/3500 vehicles. This is based upon takata's decision that front passenger airbag inflators it supplied to gm are defective. Gm has submitted to nhtsa a petition for inconsequentiality and nhtsa has granted gm until august 2017 to complete its investigation and to submit all data supporting the petition. If the petition is denied, gm will conduct a recall of the airbag inflators covered by takata's defect information report. For more information visit www.regulations.gov and search for docket no. My sierra has two cracks in the dash, one in the middle and the other from the airbag to the vent. This is very common in gm trucks from 2007-2013, with the crack from the airbag to the vent being the most common. There is a facebook page dedicated to this defect with thousands of examples. I believe this could be a safety hazard if the airbag deploys and sends plastic shards throughout the cab.

I would like to know why every time i check my recalls on this truck i find it does have an airbag recall on it but when i check what is being done about it i get "incomplete remedy not available"? this has been going on since the recall first came out. I would like to know exactly what is going on before i, on someone else, gets injured or i pass away awaiting the repair. Dashboard is cracked directly adjacent to the air bag, this is happening to a large number of gmc and chevy owners, i am concerned that plastic pieces of dashboard will become dangerous flying objects in the event of an impact that deploys the airbag. I have been talking with gm and the local dealership for 3 months now and they will not accept responsibility.

Takata recall - i was notified in may 2016 of the recall for the takata airbags for my 2011 gmc pickup (gm recall # 2049151, htsa # 16v381). I check with my dealer (edd rogers in sparta, tn) every time i take my vehicle in for a 5,000 mile oil change. The answer is always that we don't have the parts yet. I find it incredibly difficult to believe that the nhtsa has not been able to get takata to get this fix taken care of in over two years!! will it take my wife or i being injured or killed to finally have something done about this? we have heard virtually nothing about this until just recently getting a card from takata holdings, inc.i am of the opinion that is takata can't take care of the recall that gm needs to find other airbags compatible with these affected vehicles and have this situation finalized asap! gm can then go after takata for reimbursement! i want....no....i need this rectified asap before anyone in my family, including me, gets injured or killed because of the inaction of the nhtsa, gm or takata!

Takata recalli got rear eneded at a stop sign, completely stopped and the lady just smashed right into the back of me.no air bags ever even deployed!

I purchased this truck in 2017. Found out about the airbag recall and over the last 3 years i have went to several gmc dealerships to replace the airbags to fix the recall issue and they tell me that they cant fix it without the proper airbags which they dont have. How is it that there is recalls, and even deaths but i have to fear driving this truck hoping my airbag wont deploy? and no one cares to fix the issue. I spent 2 thousand dollars throwing parts into my engine to find out. Two lifters in the engine doesn't like cold weather. When the temp drops below 40 degrees, the check engine light comes on. When the temperature raises above 40 degrees the check engine light goes off. I chased this problem for years. There is some mechanical issue here.

If problems arise from these airbags, i will be contacting a lawyer and gmc will have a lawsuit. I believe the airbags should be replaced. This is a big safety issue!

For the air bag, the light continually goes on and when i took it to dealer; they said it was fine, but when i took it later; dealer said that warranty had expired and it would cost me $800.i just left it alone.light continually goes on and turns itself off.for the seat belt, back seat middle, the dealer repaired it twice, but once warranty expired than they wouldn't fix it anymore unless i paid.for the gas, i pump gas and it constant causes pump to pop and shut off.they had fixed the problem at dealer, but once warranty expired they stopped.i had to pay for all repairs.

On november 29, 2018 at around 12:00pm, i was driving down the road on route 460 west toward grundy, virginia, the roads was clear, and the weather was clear, at a speed about 35mph and the ceiling airbags deployed causing the seatbelts to lock up, and shut the truck down to a stop in the middle of the road.the air bags made a loud noise, that a neighboring business heard them deploy. I was not injured only scared and startled by what had just happened.i restarted my truck and pulled off to the side of the road, and could not understand what had happened, and proceded to drive to my mother in law's work place.i then called my mom which was the original owner and she advised me to call ramey chevrolet richlands va because the air bags should not have deployed.i had to reshedule an appointment because of bad weather and being able to get off work to take it to them for their scheduleuntil january 18, 2019.my truck was owned by my mom and dad and has never been in a crash.we have currently around 58,000 miles on this truck and as you can tell very low milage.my wife mostly drives this truck.both me and my wife have always practice safe driving and obeyed speed limit.the truck is currently at ramey chevrolet richlands va and i talk to an inspector from chevrolet by the name of tony at 1-866-446-6963 ext. 59115544 and he told me they would not fix my truck because the shocks was damaged.now if the shocks are damaged then when the truck was shut down by the airbags may have damaged the shocks, but this truck was not in a crash, there was no reason for the airbags to deploy just driving at a speed of around 35mph. I am thankful i was not injured.i hope we can work to get this resloved.

Takata recall-takata has failed to meet the august deadline for recalling my vehicle. In the mean time i am driving a vehicle that can cause myself, my wife, and my children to possible injury and/or death.

The dashboard has major cracks around the airbag and the cluster areas. When you spend 45,000 or more on a vehicle you expect a quality product. I sold my bmw 750 li and purchased this gmc sierra 1500 denali 2011. How long is a reasonable timeframe for a safety recallto be or the acted on? this recall was issued in may 2016, you and gm just want to set on it while i am driving a unsafe truck. What happened to the august 2017 decision date to get general motors to fix this problem with my 2011 gm sierra air bag. They claim no one has been killed "yet", what's the number to get them to act or the nhtsa to make them do the right thing. If safety is so important why has it been 3 1/2 years with no fix,i have not even got a letter from them telling me i have a recalled air bag on my truck, i guess they don't want people to know, it might cost them some money.

I have been talking with gm and the local dealership formonths now and they will not accept responsibility. This is a continuing safety issue experienced by gmc sierra owners

Takata recall: i am informed and have confirmed that my vehicle with the vin i provided is unsafe!!! there is an open recall with the passenger airbag. Gmc is and has been aware of this problem for at least 2 1/2 years! i just spoke with gmc customer service and was advised there are no parts available to fix the problem. Same answer for 2 1/2 years?! gmc advised they have elected to work with you specifically to resolve the problem. I don't know your role in the matter, but i am not willing to wait until a tragedy occurs to get your attention. Obviously there is no urgency somewhere. Why are you waiting for a part from a defective manufacturer? this is completely unreasonable and unacceptable to put me and my family at risk and anyone else traveling with me. I am asking that you either replace the vehicle with one that is 100% safe or fix the vehicle with another manufacturer that does not have defective airbags immediately. I use my vehicle every day for work and it is my sole source of income. The attached article says you are urging automakers to make plans to replace all defective parts. Takata recall:i received a notice from tk holdings in 2016 about this recall.i've checked the website several times since but the status is always "recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available".i called gmc today and they submitted a report to the nhtsa that they claim shows that the truck is safe and the airbags/inflators do not need to be replaced.they would not tell me when they submitted the report, but the deadline from the nhtsa was 8/17. This looks like a delay tactic by gmc.in the meantime, i have a truck that the nhtsa has deemed unsafe enough to issue a recall.this impacts my peace of mind, as well as any resale value the truck may have.i understand that these things take time but this seems excessive. My vehicle is only getting older and causing the inflator in question to be further stressed from the heat and humidity of the northeast texas. Takata recall - several cracks have formed on the top of the dashboard.the biggest crack is located at the top corner of the passenger side airbag. Cracks appeared overtime despite the fact that the truck is mostly garage kept.

The top section of the dashboard has multiple cracks including areas directly behind the instrument cluster and around the passenger side airbags.the airbag section is the most troubling, as it would appear the broken sections could become airborne at a high rate of velocity in the event of an airbag deployment.

My truck has developed a crack on the dash, starting at the top left-hand corner of the front passenger airbag.it has cracked entirely through to the dash trim piece roughly 3-4 inches away.not only is it a tremendous eye-sore, that most of my passengers notice and comment on... But has me extremely worried about safety.if this vehicle were to be in a collision and the airbag is deployed, i am sure that fragments of plastic would be propelled through the interior of the vehicle as the airbag fired.i have contacted my local dealership, and they state it is not covered, and have quoted me a repair cost of just over $1,000.this defect in the dash piece seems to be a recurring incident in a lot of 2007-2013 gm trucks.my dash pops and creaks while driving, and i can't afford the insane replacement costs associated with this repair.gm needs to take a closer look at this situation.

Takata recalli called the dealer(autonation/corpus christi) after making 5 calls(on three different days) and leaving messages with no call back i finally spoke with jackie who informed me that gmc does not have a replacement part and could not provide me with any information as to when the part would become available.

I have a recall for the airbags on my vehicle but every time i try to get the dealer to repair it i am told general motors is challenging to recall and they will not repair it at this time. I would like to know what i can do to get this recall done before some one gets hurt, and it will be too late. I find having a recall on a vehicle 8 years old and still not repair is unacceptable. Can someone give me some help or answers.

On november 29, 2018 at around 12:00pm, i was driving down the road on route 460 west toward grundy, virginia, the roads was clear, and the weather was clear, at a speed about 35mph and the ceiling airbags deployed causing the seatbelts to lock up, and shut the truck down to a stop in the middle of the road.the air bags made a loud noise, that a neighboring business heard them deploy. I was not injured only scared and startled by what had just happened.i restarted my truck and pulled off to the side of the road, and could not understand what had happened, and proceded to drive to my mother in law's work place.i then called my mom which was the original owner and she advised me to call ramey chevrolet richlands va because the air bags should not have deployed.i had to reshedule an appointment because of bad weather and being able to get off work to take it to them for their scheduleuntil january 18, 2019.my truck was owned by my mom and dad and has never been in a crash.we have currently around 58,000 miles on this truck and as you can tell very low milage.my wife mostly drives this truck.both me and my wife have always practice safe driving and obeyed speed limit.the truck is currently at ramey chevrolet richlands va and i talk to an inspector from chevrolet by the name of tony at 1-866-446-6963 ext. 59115544 and he told me they would not fix my truck because the shocks was damaged.now if the shocks are damaged then when the truck was shut down by the airbags may have damaged the shocks, but this truck was not in a crash, there was no reason for the airbags to deploy just driving at a speed of around 35mph. I am thankful i was not injured.i hope we can work to get this resloved.

An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior at high speed, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. I purchased this vehicle new, my dash board is cracking in several places, and i believe there should be a recall on this. I fear the airbag could go off and send flying plastic debris. Gm should do the right thing

Takata recall we bought the truck in 2015 and soon after got a letter saying that a airbag recall. Called dealership and was informed that no parts were available. Called gm headquarters and was informed that they were sure that there was no danger and that we should get a second notice when parts were available. That hasn't happened in almost 4 years. The web site said to seek help from you if the problem wasn't fixed in a timely manner. Is the problem going to get fixed or is gmc going to buy back the defective vehicle. It's hard to drive it without thinking someone in the passenger seat could get severely hurt or killed. Can you tell me if it will ever get fixed?

Issue #1-while driving the vehicle stablitrak warning light, traction control, engine power reduced, and brake light all came on. Vehicles engine power was suddenly reduced to about 10 mph while driving on the interstate in which i found to be very dangerous! had to pull over, turned off vehicle, lights went off, started driving again, vehicle did the same thing. Had to take in for mechanical repairs. Issue #2- key ignition switch just started locking up on the vehicle, would not turn back to normal to position, had to repeatedly keep jiggling for over 30 minutes or so to get the vehicle started back up?? had to take vehicle to dealer for repairs also. These are very unsafe and costly issues that gmc should be mandatorily required to have recalled and immediately addressed for the safety of the general public!!

Yesterday august 20, 2017 in the late afternoon while driving, my2011 gmc sierra dead stopped without any noticealmost causing an accident . I remained blocking the road until the police arrived to push my vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was unable to start even with a jump. The car is now at the auto repair shop and the auto mechanic stated that the hybrid system is not responding.

My starter or fly wheel is causing my truck to not want to start, also there is a rattling noise while driving at about 1500 rpm, and something is knocking in the rear of my truck. Its a 2011 with less than 40,000 miles and has been taken well care of, no reason this should happen. Luckily still under warranty.

But it happens randomly. Sometimes it's worse than others. I recently had to steer up onto a curb because i was driving and my gauges dropped to zero and my engine completely cut out. And that was after my airbags shut off and my lights and door locks flickered repeatedly. Maybe there's a short in a circuit or wire or maybe it's my alternator but services at a dealership are having a difficult time finding it. And al these things happen whether i'm driving or stationary. Rain or dry. Doesn't matter. But it's clearly unsafe. And i have no choice but to drive it because it's my only means for transportation.

Stabilitrak off/reduced engine power came on again after 3 unsuccessful 'fixes' at gmc dealer. I was driving 30mph over a hill when my engine completely stopped responding. Couldn't accelerate and the steering wheel locked. Went into oncoming lane but fortunately i wasn't hit. I was able to pull truck to shoulder and wait a few minutes before being able to turn on again and get it home. I have taken the truck to my local dealer every time this has happened and they only replace the throttle body sensor. It's the second time the truck has stopped responding while driving. The first time was on a highway 99 when all lights came on and truck started slowing down due to lack of engine power. I was left stranded once and had to get truck towed for a total of $430. I'm feeling unsafe in my vehicle and gm has ignored my concerns about this issue.

While driving on highway check engine light came on and lost power. Also started to hear tapping coming from engine. Had it checked by mechanic. Found code p0306 cylinder 6 misfire. Checked gm truck web site and noted service bulletin noting valve lifter failure, but no recall. Bulletin states that lifter can fail causing misfire and taping in motor. Also states during repair to check cam shaft for scoring & damage. Also checked several gm & chevy car form websites, and noted multiple complaints about same issues as well as several near accidents because of loss of power while driving. There are also several youtube videos of issues with this motor and valve lifter failure. This happens because cylinders shut down during cruising. Lifters that fail have a spring attached that fails causing the misfire and scoring to cam shaft. Gm is aware of issue but fails to issues a recall for repairs to this motor. This is a hazard and could cause an accident. Repairs should also be covered by gm as this is a common problem with this motor and they are aware of it with their in house service bulletin to service managers.this issues can happen and be covered by service warranty, but not covered when out of warranty. Bulletin also goes on to state how to write it up if covered by powertrain warranty.

My truck has problems with stability control running on the freeway in the dash came stability control services and second reduce power and the stop mu truck go slow from 65 to 20 in the middle of the freeway car behind my truck

Couldn't accelerate and the steering wheel locked. Went into oncoming lane but fortunately i wasn't hit. I was able to pull truck to shoulder and wait a few minutes before being able to turn on again and get it home. I have taken the truck to my local dealer every time this has happened and they only replace the throttle body sensor. It's the second time the truck has stopped responding while driving. The first time was on a highway 99 when all lights came on and truck started slowing down due to lack of engine power. I was left stranded once and had to get truck towed for a total of $430. I'm feeling unsafe in my vehicle and gm has ignored my concerns about this issue.

Pulling out of a snow covered parking lot the engine light came on dic then the message, reduced engine power, the engine began to run very rough at a lower idle speed, as began to happen the truck lurched forward and i had to press hard on the brakes very hard like i was fighting the engine speed to slow, then the message changed to service traction control, i had no control over the gas pedal and could only move at about 5mph, then the message changed to service stabilitrak, i got to another area of the parking lot, parked and shut off the engine for a few minutes and the issue would not go away. I was more than two hours from my home. I removed the red battery cable then replaced it and was able to start the engine and it operated normally for a while. One and a half hours later while driving 60mph it happened again and i cost off the interstate and could not get it running again. Had to be towed to a dealership. They said there was a service bulletin to replace the throttle body but want to charge me $215 to clean the other fuel related parts. This needs to be a recall. If it was a recall i would not have to pay $215 to complete the work properly.

Also checked several gm & chevy car form websites, and noted multiple complaints about same issues as well as several near accidents because of loss of power while driving. There are also several youtube videos of issues with this motor and valve lifter failure. This happens because cylinders shut down during cruising. Lifters that fail have a spring attached that fails causing the misfire and scoring to cam shaft. Gm is aware of issue but fails to issues a recall for repairs to this motor. This is a hazard and could cause an accident. Repairs should also be covered by gm as this is a common problem with this motor and they are aware of it with their in house service bulletin to service managers.this issues can happen and be covered by service warranty, but not covered when out of warranty. Bulletin also goes on to state how to write it up if covered by powertrain warranty.

Yesterday august 20, 2017 in the late afternoon while driving, my2011 gmc sierra dead stopped without any noticealmost causing an accident . I remained blocking the road until the police arrived to push my vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was unable to start even with a jump. The car is now at the auto repair shop and the auto mechanic stated that the hybrid system is not responding.

Truck will come up with ac turned off. The fan will just run but truck doesn't seem to start running hot. It will come on and within a few days it will go off. This has happened a minimum of three times. This has happened when just starting, or driving on a regular road.

If the vehicle is continually driven with this light on, the emission controls might not work as well, the vehicle fuel economy might not be as good, the engine might not run as smoothly and could lead to future repairs. I was towed to greiner gmc in victorville, ca. I was told a lifter failed and the cam shaft is damaged. I'm looking at $5800 in repairs.

Near 69,150 miles the oil pressure gauge for my gmc sierra 1500 2011, all at once, went to zero giving me a warning message to immediately stop the engine.it turned out to be a faulty oil pressure sensor. In addition oil was leaking badly out around the sensor and completely coated everything in the engine compartment and underneath. A year later the sensor went bad again.gmc says its not covered under the power train warranty and its costing me $400 each time it goes bad.

When i turn the truck off the dim headlamps stay on with the keys out. The only way to make them go off is to pull the battery

I may have a illegal auxiliary emission control devise result in excess emissions of nitrogen oxides that are similar to those made against volkswagen and 2011 gmc sierra duramax diesel truck. General motors may have intentionally installed an electrical 'cheat devices ' producing passing emission results.

Due to a faulty design and or materials used the fuel pump module assembly located on the top of the tank has prematurely corroded and caused a dangerous situation with potential threat to life as well as contaminating the environment. Gas is leaked out of the unit and can become very dangerous if unnoticed or not repaired. Vehicle was purchased new in 2012 and has only seen 4 winters. Mechanics at the garage stated it was a common occurrence they had seen in numerous vehicles and caused by a poor design in which snow and salt can accumulate on top of the tank ratting the unit and gas lines prematurely. I contacted the manufacturer and they were not concerned and considered it "normal" wear and was an unfortunate situation. Gas leaks when stationary and is leaked when system is pressurized spraying the undercarriage of the vehicle and a major concern for potential fire or explosion when gasoline is vaporized.

For the air bag, the light continually goes on and when i took it to dealer; they said it was fine, but when i took it later; dealer said that warranty had expired and it would cost me $800.i just left it alone.light continually goes on and turns itself off.for the seat belt, back seat middle, the dealer repaired it twice, but once warranty expired than they wouldn't fix it anymore unless i paid.for the gas, i pump gas and it constant causes pump to pop and shut off.they had fixed the problem at dealer, but once warranty expired they stopped.i had to pay for all repairs.

When i first drove my new truck i noticed a subtle knocking noise coming from the rear when driving slowly over a bump.the dealer's mechanic agreed there was something wrong and called gm tech assistance ([xxx]) and found the rear axle had too much play.the grove on the axle that retains the c retaining clip was machined too close to the end of the shaft.they replaced the axle.only a person with mechanical experience could have detected the subtle noise.had it gone undetected eventually the c clip would likely fail and the axle and wheel would have slid out of the differential housing.i doubt this machining fault on the axle is unique to my truck.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

There is play in the rear axles that emit a clunking noise when i am slowly backing over a grade with the steering wheels turned.i demonstrated play in the rear axles to the gmc factory rep and he said the axle play is within tolerances.my contention is that the noise is not normal and that the grooves in the differential end or the axles that accept the horseshoe shapedkeeper clips are machined incorrectly and putting excessive stress on the clips.eventually the clips will fail resulting in the wheel coming off.i further argue that if the axle play is indeed within tolerances then the tolerances are wrong.i tried to make the incorrect tolerance argument to the factory rep by making an analogy to the corvair and he missed my point.the rear suspension on the corvair was also within tolerances and many people died.

I have been hearing noises from rear of truck , and kept looking forthe problem, finally grabbed the bed and shook it from side to sideand sounds like the tire is fixing to fall off, took it to hall gmc in tyler tx.on 9-03-2013they greased the leaf springs ? and said they had fixed the problem,but when its parked on a hill there is to much weight on axle for itto move and they knew that , so when i got home in the garage it still has an inch or so travel from side to side making an awful noise, took it back on after 5 or 6 phone calls was told to come and get the truck on 9-23-2013 , that they all do that ,if anyone has a 2011 chevy or gmc rear drive vehicle shake it from side to side give it a really good shake and next time you go around a cornerfixing to pass someone it will scare you knowing that the axle is that lose.

I was driving my 2011 gmc on a highway in massachusetts when the transmission decided to fail. My rear wheels locked up and was caused to turn sideways on a highway. My truck was hit by four other vechicles. Well the truck got fixed. The transmission was replaced 3 times! with all the same failures. Gm needs to check into there transmittions before it could kill someone. 3 times its been replaced and all 3 times my rear wheels have locked up. Why? you guys need to fix this issue...

I purchased this truck in 2017. Found out about the airbag recall and over the last 3 years i have went to several gmc dealerships to replace the airbags to fix the recall issue and they tell me that they cant fix it without the proper airbags which they dont have. How is it that there is recalls, and even deaths but i have to fear driving this truck hoping my airbag wont deploy? and no one cares to fix the issue. I spent 2 thousand dollars throwing parts into my engine to find out. Two lifters in the engine doesn't like cold weather. When the temp drops below 40 degrees, the check engine light comes on. When the temperature raises above 40 degrees the check engine light goes off. I chased this problem for years. There is some mechanical issue here.

I was not injured only scared and startled by what had just happened.i restarted my truck and pulled off to the side of the road, and could not understand what had happened, and proceded to drive to my mother in law's work place.i then called my mom which was the original owner and she advised me to call ramey chevrolet richlands va because the air bags should not have deployed.i had to reshedule an appointment because of bad weather and being able to get off work to take it to them for their scheduleuntil january 18, 2019.my truck was owned by my mom and dad and has never been in a crash.we have currently around 58,000 miles on this truck and as you can tell very low milage.my wife mostly drives this truck.both me and my wife have always practice safe driving and obeyed speed limit.the truck is currently at ramey chevrolet richlands va and i talk to an inspector from chevrolet by the name of tony at 1-866-446-6963 ext. 59115544 and he told me they would not fix my truck because the shocks was damaged.now if the shocks are damaged then when the truck was shut down by the airbags may have damaged the shocks, but this truck was not in a crash, there was no reason for the airbags to deploy just driving at a speed of around 35mph. I had a severe shudder when braking. I took apart the front brakes and did not find anything. When i took off the rear drum i found that the washers on the hold down springs had failed and allowed the pin to pull through. (making a cross in the washer where there should only be a slot) the released the spring and washer to fall. The shoes were just sitting there not secured to the back plate of the wheel. The second side had almost failed and the wear on the washer is visible in my attached photos.

I was driving my 2011 gmc on a highway in massachusetts when the transmission decided to fail. My rear wheels locked up and was caused to turn sideways on a highway. My truck was hit by four other vechicles. Well the truck got fixed. The transmission was replaced 3 times! with all the same failures. Gm needs to check into there transmittions before it could kill someone. 3 times its been replaced and all 3 times my rear wheels have locked up. Why? you guys need to fix this issue...

While driving down the interstate today, the steering locked in position.it took both hands to force it to turn, at which a pop was heard from the steering column area.vehicle has driven normally since.truck only has 1,500 miles on it.no consumer debris could have caused the problem.

Accelerating up on ramp to ma pike with wheel turned.while merging with traffic at speed wheel locked in turned position.forced wheel back straight with much force and a loud pop sound from steering. Due to the amount of force required, many people would not be able to unlock wheel and may crash. This has happened two times in last 30 days. Dealer refuses to make repairs, claims can not make happen when in their possession. Dealer's only instructs to pull off road next time it locks and call onstar for assistance.

Heat sheald on exhaust manifold rusted and fell off engine resting on steering column locking steering momentarily untill i forced it to work.car was in motion when this happened.

While driving around a highway bend in the road the steering wheel locked up and would not move going 60 miles per hour. I'm a big guy and really used all my force to turn the wheel and final got to break free with a loud pop from the steering colum area. This has happened about six time since and i now have only 20,000 miles on it. I am a shop owner and ase master tech, so i know what i am reporting this is crazy dangerous.

Driving on the freeway, when truck started running rough.i managed to make it to the side of the freeway before the truck stopped working.towed to gmc dealer. Broken throttle body sensor and broken steering position sensor connector.

Started truck up and let idle for two minutes.upon take off, the traction control light came on and was immediately followed by the check engine light with a message stating engine reduced power.the truck then begins to run very rough and when the brakes where applied it violently and uncontrollably lunged forward.i pulled off the road, turned off the engine, and waited a minute or two.upon restarting the engine, the check engine light came on but the reduced power message and traction light where gone.after sitting at a light for a few seconds, the symptoms where back, nearly causing me to rearend the vehicle in front of me. I pulled over again,turned off the engine for a minute, restarted and the same results as before occured.now this happens every time the truck is running and sits in the same spot for more than two or three minutes.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the dashboard was cracked; however, the repair was not completed due to the dealer's refusal to repair the failure. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer did not consider the recall valid and was trying to get the recall overturned in court. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 93,308. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Dash crack alongside airpag passenger side

The dash board has a crack by the passenger side airbag and a rack on the driver side.it also seems to be caving in.i am afraid that the airbag will go off at anytime or will not go off at all.

In my 2011 gmc sierra 1500, which is garage kept, i started for work on a rainy day, my windshield began to fog up, i turned on my defrosters, heard a loud pop, and when i looked at my dashboard, right above the instrument panel, i had a large crack in my dashboard. I have seen reports about how there are many complaints on gm involving the same problem. It is my concern that when airbags deploy ( hopefully never needed) that it will increase the amount of shrapnel in the vehicle. I am very upset that i have heard stories stating that gm considers this a cosmetic flaw and not an actual safety issue. Are you kidding me? i work hard for my money, i am forced on a daily basis to stand behind the product or services that i provide. Its time gm does the same.

Brought to dealership for many issues, one of which was the side molding starting to come off on all4 doors, they had to order and paint the moldings so iu return over a holiday weekend for them to repair. When i showed up, they had only done one side and it was crooked, and not the side that was worse. That was 2012 after one year, they soon came off in 2014 curling off the truck, the replaced ones, i took care of the other two and they looked great.

My truck has developed a crack on the dash, starting at the top left-hand corner of the front passenger airbag.it has cracked entirely through to the dash trim piece roughly 3-4 inches away.not only is it a tremendous eye-sore, that most of my passengers notice and comment on... But has me extremely worried about safety.if this vehicle were to be in a collision and the airbag is deployed, i am sure that fragments of plastic would be propelled through the interior of the vehicle as the airbag fired.i have contacted my local dealership, and they state it is not covered, and have quoted me a repair cost of just over $1,000.this defect in the dash piece seems to be a recurring incident in a lot of 2007-2013 gm trucks.my dash pops and creaks while driving, and i can't afford the insane replacement costs associated with this repair.gm needs to take a closer look at this situation.

I was driving down the interstate at 65 mph and heard a pop.i looked over and my dashboard had cracked right next to the airbag. On a non related instance my engine is now making a ticking noise that i will be taking to a dealer to check out.

There is a 4" stresscrack in the dashboard just head of the gauge cluster which developed a week ago. My concern is two fold 1) the crack will increase in sizereducing the value of the vehicle, 2) in a impact situation, the structural integrity of the dash may be compromised allowing pieces of plastic to become projectiles, possibly damaging occupants or deflating the airbags thereby reducing there effectiveness in a crash.

I purchased a 2011 gmc sierra 1500 in non. Of2014. The dash board is now cracking. It initially started by the passenger side airbag and now there is a crack over the instrument panel as well as one starting over the gauges. I have seen several complaints about this and it is a definite safety hazard due to an accident would deploy the airbags sending shards of the dash board flying directly into the passengers of the vehicle.

The outside door handles keep coming off. It appears that the material used is cheap plastic. This causes the mechanism inside to easily break with the natural constant opening and closing of the doors form the outside of the vehicle. You can see clear cheap glus is used to adhere the plastic and this just makes no sense considering how much they want us to pay for the vehicle to have cheap door handles almost as durable as thos of mattel race cars sold at walmart.

In only 600 miles the suspension was begining to feel like a buckboard, and if a good enough sized pot hole was run over trhe sound was so loud and there was a distinct bell gong rattle. The dealer said they didn't notice anything peculiar, but for a truck with 6000 miles only and 1 year, it felt 10 years old, this problem never went away, and infact got worse, much worse

Ive been having this problem with my leaf springs in the back,theres a peice of my leaf spring that has broken off, i was told by gm that i could of bought it new like that, i have 7 other friends with the same kind of truck that have also had this issue, contacted gm about it and they still have failed to do anything about it. Was told that if i hit the end bad enough the truck end could fall apart. Its getting bad to the point were my leaf springs are starting to bend. Im now missing the peice on both sides of the truck.

2011 gmc sierra 1500. Consumer writes in regards to recall notice for the rear axle cross pin fracture *tgwthe consumer stated he was not informed that a recall was issued prior to purchasing the vehicle.

While driving 50 mph. With out notice, the front passenger tire exploded. Checking the tire shows in middle of tread the tires steel belt just blew and popped out of the tread. Tho there is high mileage on the tires the tread wear is still very good.no damage to side wall and nothing was hit on roadway. Tire just exploded with out notice. The gap is across the entire width of tread approx 6 inches.

On november 29, 2018 at around 12:00pm, i was driving down the road on route 460 west toward grundy, virginia, the roads was clear, and the weather was clear, at a speed about 35mph and the ceiling airbags deployed causing the seatbelts to lock up, and shut the truck down to a stop in the middle of the road.the air bags made a loud noise, that a neighboring business heard them deploy. I was not injured only scared and startled by what had just happened.i restarted my truck and pulled off to the side of the road, and could not understand what had happened, and proceded to drive to my mother in law's work place.i then called my mom which was the original owner and she advised me to call ramey chevrolet richlands va because the air bags should not have deployed.i had to reshedule an appointment because of bad weather and being able to get off work to take it to them for their scheduleuntil january 18, 2019.my truck was owned by my mom and dad and has never been in a crash.we have currently around 58,000 miles on this truck and as you can tell very low milage.my wife mostly drives this truck.both me and my wife have always practice safe driving and obeyed speed limit.the truck is currently at ramey chevrolet richlands va and i talk to an inspector from chevrolet by the name of tony at 1-866-446-6963 ext. 59115544 and he told me they would not fix my truck because the shocks was damaged.now if the shocks are damaged then when the truck was shut down by the airbags may have damaged the shocks, but this truck was not in a crash, there was no reason for the airbags to deploy just driving at a speed of around 35mph. I am thankful i was not injured.i hope we can work to get this resloved.

Dangerous cracked condition of dashboard surrounding airbag deployment area. Dashboard is so badly cracked and brittle that if the airbag were to go off, sharp and jagged pieces of plastic would become flying schrapnel. The velocity of an airbag explosion coupled with flying bits of hard sharp plastic could cause serious injury or even death. This vehicle has been well cared for and as such the dash cracking is a result of defective engineering and materials.

The dashboard has major cracks around the airbag and the cluster areas. When you spend 45,000 or more on a vehicle you expect a quality product. I sold my bmw 750 li and purchased this gmc sierra 1500 denali 2011. I have viewed multiple videos of people having the same concerns and/or issues after i purchased this vehicle this clearly a defective part that gm does not want to address. America is better than this. I know this does not matter but i will never purchase another american vehicle and have purchased a lot of vehicles domestic and foreign. Let's do the right thing!

For the full term of ownership, while in the act of refueling, the gas fill would trigger and shut off gas 10 to 20 times during fill up, at every manufacturered pump, nozzle or gas station in creation, just an absolute joke.

I purchased this 2011 gmc sierra denali in july of 2014 from an individual, and there was a small crack on the dash alongside the passenger side air bag.in the last 2 months, this crack has enlarged so that the crack is wide open in the dash and i am afraid in a collision that the dash will crack further and shards of plastic will spray on myself or passengers. This is the third gm vehicle of this year model range that i have owned.all 3 have resulted in catastrophic cracking of the dash, all three in either exact, or close to exact locations.these cracks are connecting to the airbag, and connecting to the instrument panel right in front of the driver field of view.i have pointy shards of plastic and holes in the sierra i currently own.i am no engineer, however i am positive that in the event of airbag deployment, or a forward impact collision that myself and/or my family will have much more to worry about than just the impact.outside of operational use, i do not understand why general motors would continue to balk on assistance provided to their customers.i love general motors trucks, and i never want to own anything different, but my family being harmed and/or the constant eyesore of such a nice vehicle appearance being tainted is effecting my overall opinion.please do not allow my family to be injured by the faulty design and engineering of the inevitable "shattered dash" of the gm's that you guys have come to know over the past 5 years.it is atrocious and an all out safety hazard.

After i got a recall letter in regard to the air bags, i decided to look at my dash just as a visual inspection.i have a dash cover to protect it from the heat.as i took it off the first thing i noticed was the cracked dash above my gauge cluster, right on the "hump".very disappointed since i take care of this vehicle and i don't apply any solvents on the dash.mostly soap and water then if any a water based cleaner/ protector.

The dashboard is cracked and continues to crack even more. The vehicle is hardly driven and is parked in the garage out of the sun. It is not a daily driver but only used on the weekends for fun. The cracks are getting bigger and i'm concerned about the safety of the air bags.

Cracks in both sides of the dashboard. Others have complained about this as well and gm is getting sued for it now. Also, molding has been replaced on all four doors and is coming off again.

My sierra has two cracks in the dash, one in the middle and the other from the airbag to the vent. This is very common in gm trucks from 2007-2013, with the crack from the airbag to the vent being the most common. There is a facebook page dedicated to this defect with thousands of examples. I believe this could be a safety hazard if the airbag deploys and sends plastic shards throughout the cab.

There is no recall on my vehicle, yet the dealership sent me a notice saying there was a recall.this is highly misleading and caused me to believe something was unsafe about my truck, considering the document from the dealership says it's a safety issue.

The top section of the dashboard has multiple cracks including areas directly behind the instrument cluster and around the passenger side airbags.the airbag section is the most troubling, as it would appear the broken sections could become airborne at a high rate of velocity in the event of an airbag deployment.

Went about a mile was getting ready to make a left across md rt 4 when i lost power and reduced engine power light came, had a close call, on did some research and found a technical notice about throttle body and injector sensors they need a recall.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was powered on and in park when it lunged forward abnormally. The contact had to jump in the vehicle and depress the brakes to stop it from traveling any farther. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

I was going 40mph when i went to stop quick to avoid an accident. I pressed on brakes truck did not slow down then all of a suddenit did down shift but at that the truck lunged forward causing me to clip the truck in front of me.

2011 gmc sierra 1500 sle crew cab z71 4x4coming off of the expressway and coming to a stop at a traffic light i applied brake pressure.the brake pedal was unusally stiff then all of a sudden the engine revved to over 5000 rpm's and starting to move forward.i had my foot pushed firmly on the brake and the vehicle remained revving and moving forward.i quickly put it in park and turned off vehicle.started back up and no issues on remaining drive.cruise control was not engaged.vehicle has less than 1400 miles on it.

Second report - sudden acceleration.2011 gmc sierra pu truck.on december 20, 2010 i was traveling to visit friends.while on highway i set the cruise control for 70 mph.i exited the freeway and traveled approximately 5 miles on city streets.upon entering a bedroom township known for speed traps i attempted to engage the cruise control for 30 mph.when pressing the cruise control to set the speed i was traveling (30 mph) the truck down shifted and accelerated rapidly (to 4000 rpm).i immediately tapped the brake and the cruise control disengaged.this is the second time for this truck to down shift and accelerate rapidly.a previous report was made in november 2010.

Issue #1-while driving the vehicle stablitrak warning light, traction control, engine power reduced, and brake light all came on. Vehicles engine power was suddenly reduced to about 10 mph while driving on the interstate in which i found to be very dangerous! had to pull over, turned off vehicle, lights went off, started driving again, vehicle did the same thing. Had to take in for mechanical repairs. Issue #2- key ignition switch just started locking up on the vehicle, would not turn back to normal to position, had to repeatedly keep jiggling for over 30 minutes or so to get the vehicle started back up?? had to take vehicle to dealer for repairs also. These are very unsafe and costly issues that gmc should be mandatorily required to have recalled and immediately addressed for the safety of the general public!!

Rear view mirror just falls off and takes a chunk of windshield with it. Could very easy startled some one and cause accident

The contact owns a 2011 gmc sierra 1500. While the vehicle was parked with the heat activated, the rear windshield exploded after ten minutes. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the rear windshield was replaced. The diagnosis was unknown. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 170,000.

Wipers and washers come on by themselves surprising the driver and partially obscuring his vision. It is necessary to pull over and shut off the ignition to get them to stop, then it happens angain every so often during an outing.

While driving 50 mph. With out notice, the front passenger tire exploded. Checking the tire shows in middle of tread the tires steel belt just blew and popped out of the tread. Tho there is high mileage on the tires the tread wear is still very good.no damage to side wall and nothing was hit on roadway. Tire just exploded with out notice. The gap is across the entire width of tread approx 6 inches.

Spare tire will not lower as described in the owner's manual, dealers are unable to correct the problem, which could lead to being stranded on the road in adverse weather.
