The truck was purchased with 113,000 miles on it and no apparent problems when bought.after about 3 months of ownership, the "service airbag" message appeared intermittently for the next few weeks.after that time, the message was constant on.took the truck to my local dealer who charged to "repair" it.message came back after about a week of driving. Message now reappears at random intervals.don't know if the problem is with the airbag sensors, the control unit, or any peripheral switches.dealer is incompetent and do not trust to fix the problem.already paid good money to have this problem repaired and am not going to continue to pay for incompetence.message appears when vehicle is in motion and when vehicle is started at random.message will sometimes disappear for weeks at a time, then, reappear at random.

I have had to replace the tail light lenses several times because the tab that secures the lenses to the vehicle breaks and the result is lights just hanging on the truck by the electrical cords. I have the same problem involving my other vehicles in the past made by gmc namely a second family gmc sierra that was made in the year 2004, and a chevrolet silverado. The electrical lighting on the dashboard has been malfunctioning for a long time. I noticed the malfunction during the first year i bought the truck. I have had to replace electrical switch in the air conditioning/heating the mechanic told me that the wiring is heating up and causing the short to the switch. The new switch has shorted out just like he said it would. I have a notification that my airbag needs servicing. There has been no accident involved to cause this issue. I bought this vehicle new and have been the primary driver since 2006 when i bought the vehicle.
The service airbag light came on and off. Took it to dealer to have tested. Trouble code p0084, driver seat position sensor. Diagnostic showed fault is in airbag sensing and diagnostic module, showed false high resistance reading. Sensor kit and module needed replaced, almost $600 just for parts. Took 2 times at the dealer to get this fixed as first replacement parts did not work. No coverage by gmc for failure of switch for airbag. Truck never in any type accident so airbag was never used. Surprised that there was no assistance from gmc concerning this safety issue as working airbags are required.
My wife while driving our 2006 gmc sierra was involved in a t-bone accident. She was driving south in her lane and was cut off causing her to hit the car that turned in front of her. She could not stop in time and when she hit the other car her airbag did not deploy. She died from broken ribs that puncher-ed her heart and she bled to death at work two hours later, the coroner determined her death to be from blunt force chest trauma.
The vehicle was parked and not running when both driver and passenger airbags deployed. The steering wheel is torn apart. The handle on the dash board, passenger side, is bent and the vent on passenger side is cracked.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500.while driving 55 mph, the contact struck a deer.the deer went under the front driver side wheel and caused the vehicle to crash into a tree at 45 mph.the front air bags failed to deploy.the vehicle is currently at thebody shop.the insurance company is investigating the failure and they also want gmc to explain why the air bags did not deploy.the current and failure mileages were 25,300.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500.the child restraint system at the lower anchor point on the body of the vehicle, in addition to the nuts that hold down the lower anchor are not tight enough for anyone using the latch system.the purchase date was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 22,000.

Blower motor wiring harness wires melted and started smoking on my 2006 gmc sierra.
This complaint is about an electrical short in the wiring and plug going to the fan motor on the inside cab of my 2006 gmc truck. This truck has 43000 miles on it and carried it in to be fixed and was told nothing could be done because it was out of warranty. I'm very disappointed because i feel that this is a hazard. This plug has been going bad for some time now because i could smell the odor in the truck but could not pinpoint where it was coming from. After the fan motor stopped working i traced the problem down to the plug and found where it had been melting away. This is when i drove it back to the dealership and was told nothing could be done because it was out of warranty. I feel this should be a defect and not something that should be a warranty issue. This plug got very hot for a long period of time and melted it could have started a fire.
The blower motor resistor overheated and melted the wiring harness, almost caused a fire, burnt my fingers trying to stop it from starting to burn,my 7 year old was with me.

My fan high speed burst out and i had a strong else trial burning smell. I had my truck looked at to find that my wiring harness and resistor had burnt. I had them replaced this last september. Since then i have had to replace two more resistors and one more wiring harness. I talked to two dealerships and no one told me about the, "special warranty adjustment". I had to research the internet to find this out. When i took my truck back to the original dealer, they blamed me for not knowing the language. I am glad i did not burn my truck up like several other had (found on the internet). Now the dealer tells me that main controller has failed and i have to pay over $400 in repairs. How do i know that the main controller did not burn out the resistor or wiring harness? i am concerned that large corporations are playing with our lives.

2006 gmc sierra c1500. Consumer writes in regards to resistor and connector wiringreplacement.*tgw
Dt*:the contact stated the speedometer displayed an incorrect reading up to 10 mph more than the driven speed.the vehicle was seen by a dealer, who determined this was due to the oversized tires on the vehicle which affected the overall telemetry.the vehicle was sent to an independent repair shop and an after market hyper-tech computer chip was installed to override the computerized telemetry of the vehicle.updated 05/30/06.
The contact owns a 2005 gmc sierra 1500. While attempting to use the air conditioner the contact noticed that no air would blow out of the vents. The contact examined the vehicle and stated that the resistor failed. The failure was not diagnosed and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 130000.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the heater blower relay switch was replaced however, the failure recurred. The contact stated while vehicle was in a stand still, and attempting to turn on the air conditioner, the air conditioner was inoperable. The contact stated that a dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the heater blower replay switch and harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.the consumer stated in 2015 the switch was replaced, but in 2020 it was replaced again along with the melter wire harness. *as
Loss of fan - blower motor (hvac) high speed operation failure. With loss of high speed fan, other fan speeds (lower) operation became intermittent, works after jiggling blower motor wire bundle at connection point on blower motor resistor.visual inspection shows melted wire harness connector at blower motor resistor, unable to separate (remove) the connector. Searched nhtsa odi database and found three very related defect complaints - inop fan, smoke and melted wires, fan loss. Fan failure could lead to fire from melted electrical connections, loss of visibility due to windshield icing in winter, fogging over when driving in changing weather. Windshield defroster requires operative fan and defroster is a required safety item. Dealer replaced blower motor electrical connector, wire harness, and fuse, charging parts to warranty and me for the labor. This appears to be a very common defect in this product line. There is a technical service bulletin for the repair including replacement of the connection wiring to insure any melted insulation is removed. This should be a safety recall.dealer has old parts.

2006 gmc sierra quit running on a trip we were taking.it started missing and eventually wouldn't restart.the truck has 82k on it and is very well maintained.the engine would turn over but not start... No spark?it has been to various service mechanics as well as my attempt to figure out what is wrong with it.many new parts have been used: icm, crank sensor, cam sensor, coil... No difference.this vehicle quitting on a very busy highway could have caused significant injury to myself and/or my passenger. When the truck was new it had an intermittent miss and while still under warranty i returned to the dealer.there they were unable to find anything that would cause the problem.this same miss was periodically present up until the time it quit running altogether.
My truck exhibited the same issues as #10240: special coverage adjustment-heating, ventilation, and air conditioning blower not fully functional or inoperative - (may 9, 2011).however my auto climate fan was not covered.i believe this is a recall issue.my truck became smoky from the overheating wires and the hvac system would run after cutting off the ignition.
Reduced engine power and engine light.have had just about everything replaced i have my repair bills. Truck will run fine after being in shop then starts all over again. Throttle body has been replaced twice. It will drop me down to 20mph on the highway and i am afraid it is going to cause a bad wreck. It happened to me today and i am out of town i have drove 600 miles with a horse trailer to pick up a rescue horse and am afraid to start home with no clue what is wrong with this truck when i reset the battery it will work fine but i am telling you that it is goingto cause a bad wreck. I don't mind paying for it just tell what the hell is wrong so i can get it fixed probably before someone gets hurt or killed.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. While driving approximately 35 mph, the forty two volt charging warning indicator illuminated. Due to the warning, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The contact turned off the vehicle and it failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to john paul's buick gmc (3615 s 108th st, greenfield, wi 53228, (414) 208-4113) where it was diagnosed that the generator starter failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the part no longer being manufactured. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,350.

Defective castech heads. Leaking antifreeze into engine. Thins out the engine oil and could engine to over heat or sieze up while driving. Gm knows of the defective heads but will not warrenty them. Please can someone please help us poor people who have got stuck with this bad defective design.
I have a 2006 gmc sierra with the 5.3l vortec engine and i found out that the castech heads are faulty and leaking coolant into the engine also found out this is a common issue and gm knows about it ,technical service bulletin is 06-06-01-019b which states gm is aware of the defect this truck was bought by my boss brand new and i purchased it from him i believe gm should take care of this for my family's safety. Just noticed this this month and this truck has been serviced regularly.
We were in a storage facility parking our camper when i got out of my gmc truck...i left it running in park because it was so hot outside...while i directed my brother to put the camper in place with his vehicle. This took approx. 20-30 minutes when all of a sudden my truck is going in reverse all on its own running into some boats that were stored there. Wth!! my truck got rear end damage, bumper damage, light broken and my topper was messed up as well....along with the boat trailers that it hit! was there any recall with this problem? i bought this truck about 2 years ago with only 29,000 miles on it and it still only has 38,000.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500.while driving approximately 40 mph, the contact heard a squeaking noise coming from the front end of the vehicle.the blower motor stopped working.the vehicle was driven to the dealer and they stated that the resistor for the fan motor overheated and fused withthe wiring harness.the vehicle was repaired.the manufacturer was not notified.the vin was unknown.the current mileage was 6,422 and failure mileage was 6,000.
4.3 engine started shaking for not apparent reason, mileage at incident 10,000 miles.engine rpm's would go up & down at idle & rough idle it did this for a couple of days.engine shook violently and jerked.the vehicle stopped running would not turn on.vehicle towed to dealer.dealer had to replace ecm (computer) & crank shaft sensor.vehicle after two weeks is now rough idle at times at start up & rpm's at idle still vary at times.vehicle taken in to dealer and tech stated no hidden codes vehicle checked out okay according to dealer???
At the first oil change in my new 2006 gmc sierra, i found pieces of metal (assembly from the engine) attached to the magnetic drainbolt. Such is usually symptomatic of a defective bearing or something. No problem as of yet with the vehicle, but registering this observation. For record purposes.the attendant at the place where i got the oil changed said my vehicle was the fourth one he's observed with the same kind of metal pieces.
10 days after i got this truck the ac blower stopped working. I had to pay $60 to get it fixed. Condensation from the ac had fried the wires. But i had to pay to get it fixed!!! not right!!!! now the blower and ac works buti have no heat! so i took it back to the dealer i bought it from and they wanted me to pay them $60 ~ $100 just to tell what is wrong then i would have to pay my deductible of $60!!!! what the [xxx]!!!! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Air conditioner fan resistor failed filling pickup cab with smoke. Was repaired under warranty and failed again, burning part of the wiring harness.
Rear tail light assembly (both) connection tabs which hold assembly in place fail for no reason allowing light assemble to fall out.have replaced the rear tail light assemblies three times.first light assembly fell out at 8 months age (approx 20,000 miles), returned to dealer they advised assembly must have been damaged no warranty repair.replaced both with after-market assemblies, 18 months later rear light assembly connection tabs failed.replaced with dealer supplied parts (approx 75,000 miles).now about 18 months later rear light assembly is failing again (109,000 miles).possible cause is that plastic tabs do not secure light assemble in place, allowing normal use and vibration to cause connection tab to fail.
Right rear tail light assembly fell off - for no reason.
Fuel gage shows half a tank but i ran out of gas. Lights blow all thetime.
2006 gmc sierra 1500 crew cab. Only a year old and with less than 15,000 miles, the right tail light assembly fell off. There had been no accident, impact or abuse. The cause was the breaking of the two plastic threads in the taillight assembly. These flimsy, weak, threaded parts are all that hold the taillight on and are clearly inadequate for the load. This should not be a wear and tear item; it is a design defect. There should be some metal holding the screws, not thin plastic.

After filling the tank i drove for several hundred miles and i looked at the tank and it showed i had gas so i kept driving, soon the engine stopped and i was left stranded by my truck and i am disabled.i then had the vehicle towed and the service station found nothing wrong with it other than they added gas and it started and ran fine.i continued to drive the truck andnoticed that the gas was not going down on the gauge like it should.one day i got in my truck and started it and the low fuel sensor light came on along with a chime , the (dic) said the fuel was low but i had just filled it up and had only driven a few miles.the low gas light stays on all the time now even when i fill it up along with the service enginelight and it will chime every time i start it up.i took the vehicle to a mechanic and he stated it was a worn fuel level sensor and he has had several gm vehicle that have had the same problem. I feel like this is a safety problem especially when you are disabled and have problems getting around in the first place.
I purchased my pickup new in jan. 2007 and use it to tow an 8x16 trailer w/electric brakes for a part time business throughout the summer.the trailer weighs approx. 6000 lbs. Loaded and the truck is rated for 8,000 lbs.approximate towing mileage is 3 to 4,000 miles per year.after towing the trailer 200 miles on sept. 14, 2012 my wife noticed several oil leaks on the asphalt nearby.i suspected something in the differential area and drove to the nearest gmc dealership several miles away.they diagnosed it as a rear brake line and ended up replacing 6' of it along with both rotors and calipers and a brake system flush for a total of $958.76.i'm 66 yrs. Old and have never had a brake line go in any vehicle i've ever owned and i've lived in massachusetts all my life.my local mechanic just told me this week that the rest of the brake lines are badly corroded and should be replaced asap. This will add another $900 to the entire cost.there is no question in my mind that gm has allowed quality in workmanship on its brake lines to fall through the cracks...and at the public's expense.
I have a 2006 gmc sierra pick-up truck with less than 20,000 mile on it and have run out of gas twice when the gas gauge reads more than a quarter tank of fuel on the gauge. I just listened to a report on the radio of a possible recall on many gm vehicles with gas gauge problems just like mine. I wish you would look into adding the gm sierra pick-up to this list for recall.
Driving 2006 gmc sierra pick up in utah on hwy 191 in a cross country move and pushed off the road to the side by a trucker franticly telling me to run from the truck,it was on fire. Local fire department concluded their investigation that it was the fuel line leaking as cause of origin. Also state highway patrol concluded the same at a later date. I submitted a claim for the contents to gm and was lied to for 2 months before them saying it was not their fault. They investigated the vehicle without consent from state farm. The only consent was to photograph. They spent 3.5 hours completely investigating with no supervision. The woman handling the claim at gm said to me at the end that quote "sometimes they step up to the plate and sometimes they don't,sorry" and denied the claim. Now they refuse to speak to me or release their report so i can retain an attorney. They have lied and cheated through this whole process with other burned late model gm pu's are burned right next to mine in that yard. The truck has been stolen from, rifled through,a nd compromised by rain and gm. Now it is finally shrink wrapped in plastic and waiting for the next step. Please help as soon as you can by investigating this. Thank you.
Dt*: the contact stated while driving 40 mph on the highway, a passing motorist motioned to pull the vehicle over.the contact pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and white smoke erupted from between the bed and cab of the truck as well as underneath.the fire department was alerted, and extinguished the flames.also, the police were alerted, and a report was taken.the vehicle was deemed a total loss due to the extensive fire damage.the fire department inspected the vehicle and determined there was a small hole in the fuel tank which resulted in gasoline leaking onto a nearby wiring harness and ultimately causing an ignition source which led to a fire.the manufacturer was not alerted.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was filled with fuel and the gauges showed that the tank was full. The following day, when the vehicle was started, the fuel gauge showed less than a half tank of fuel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that there was no signs of a fuel leak or any fuel odor. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
Fuel gage shows half a tank but i ran out of gas. Lights blow all thetime.
Brake line failure. Low speedbacking up brake pedal went to floor . Brake fluid sprayed on exhaust, producing a lot of smoke.truck was cold, if running longer there could have been a fire. Contactedgmin 2009 about brake line rust and they stated it was normal. Truck had only 32000 miles at time of complaint. Truck now has 58000 miles.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. While driving various speeds, the vehicle made a loud clunking noise when the accelerator pedal was depressed. In addition, the vehicle shifted hard when switching gears. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the valve body inside the transmission was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. Gmc of plattsburgh, new york (518)-563-2000 was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and provided the contact with case number: 8-3309303524. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.updated 12/13/2017 *lnconsumer stated does not shift down going down hills half to ride brakes at all times. Light did not come on when we had trouble with abs cable to wheel bearing, you lose brake power. Also transmisson does not shift down. Updated 7/18/18
2006 gmc sienna.consumer writes in regards to transmission gear shifter sticks/ grinds when clutch is depressed. The consumer stated he had trouble shifting the five speed transmission from the time, he purchased the vehicle. It would stick in gear when shifting, move with the clutch depressed when he started it in gear, and scrape when shifting between gears. Overall, the clutch was not disengaging/the dealer claimed the vehicle was self-adjusting and there was nothing that could be done. The consumer received information about an incorrect clutch master cylinder being installed in 2006 sierra's.
I own a 2006 gmc sierra.i purchased this vehicle from a relative (70 year old woman) and it has 22,000 miles on it.i have just had a mechanical issue begin.when slowing the vehicle to approximately 5 mph, the vehicle abs activates and the truck thrusts forward.i was advised by a mechanic that this is a failure of both front wheel hub assemblies.because this vehicle has so few miles on it i began looking on line for recall information.i am shock how many people have also experienced problems around 20,000 miles, some resulting in crashes.i also learned that the company that manufactures the hub assemblies has issued a recall for the parts unless it was installed by the factory (gm).this isn't right and someone will get injured badly.gm should recall the vehicle.
1.rusted brake lines blowout.fortunately mine happened in a parking lot,not on the turnpike, and requiring an emergency stop.2.clutch master cylinder plastic mounting flange separates when clutch is depressed, disabeling std.transmission.on residential street.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that there was an unknown substance leaking from the vehicle. In addition, the brake lines were rusted and had holes causing it to potentially fracture. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the brake lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that there was a loud noise coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. Updated 12/10/14*lj updated 9/29/2015

The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds or sitting idle in park, the four wheel drive switch would intermittently activate and independently shift into low drive. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that he would need to replace the module in the transfer case. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
Seats popping noise when weight shifts (start, stop, etc.)first attempt was to replace the seat back. Second was to replace the entire seat minus the cover. Third time in the service manager wanted to contact the area gm manager for direction. The gm area manager told the service manager to make no repair and direct me to call gm. This truck also has been in for service to the brake rotors to be re surfaced with only 4,600 miles on the truck. The transmission has re calibrated two times one for the lock-up torque converter, and once for a hard shift from first to second gear. The truck has a harder shift now than before.

When the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd there is a hard clunking, also when it down shifts from 3rd to 2nd. I have had this 2006 gmc for only 10 months and i purchased it new. I took it to my local dealer for the problem and they told me that this is normal noise for a four wheel drive. I have had many 4x4 gms in the past and not one of them has had this kind of a shifting problem. I have purchased three new gm's in the last4 years and i have had problems with all of them, i think i'm going to trade it in for a toyota.
Replaced drivers hub bearing assembly, still having vibration in front end.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the service 4-wheel drive light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and the transfer case encoder motor and transfer case selector switch were both replaced. Three years later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the contact's personal mechanic and the same parts were replaced. The failure mileage was 53,012 and the current mileage is 115,603 updated 7/26/12updated 08/07/12

Driving in residential neighborhood at approx. 25 mph.upon engaging brakes to stop at stop sign, pedal suddenly became extremely soft and traveled nearly to floor.it took me a moment to figure out what was going on and i had to press with full force to stop.drove slowly to nearest gmc dealer, not far away.almost all of the brake pedal travel provided no response; the remainder of travel was soft and provided minimal braking performance.diagnosis by the dealer was excessive corrosion on all solid brake lines and fittings.burst/leakage on a line near the driver's side rear wheel was causing the soft, nearly unresponsive brake pedal.recommendation by dealer was to replace all solid brake lines and fittings, from master cylinder to abs unit to each wheel end.i was told that only fixing the area that had burst would be too "risky" due to condition of the rest of the solid brake lines and that failure in another part of the lines was "probably going to happen."the flexible/rubber brake lines and fittings at calipers/drums were "ok" and not replaced.total charge:$1380.46.this is a 7-year old vehicle with about 40k mileage that has been well-maintained in personal use/commuting.i have never experienced this failure before, on any vehicle at any age, including numerous vehicles 10+ years old all driven in ne ohio.i am grateful the brakes gave up when/where they did:at low speed and without any other vehicle (or pedestrian) around.i contacted gm and registered my complaint; they offered no relief or explanation (beyond "environmental" cause), though they expressed serious interest in my experience.i think this failure is unacceptable at this stage of a vehicle service life, regardless of whether it is used in the "salt belt."please consider expansion of ea11-001 to later model years of gmt800-series vehicles.
I had just replaced the third set of wheel bearings, asked my wife to hold brake so that i could torque axel nut. When she pushed the brake pedal, i seen brake fluid pouring down the frame of truck. Checked lines all were rusted very bad. Called matheny motors of parkersburg wv. The cost of replacement of lines was quoted at over $1200.00i can not express enough how upset i am that this safety item was not made of stainless steel on a vehicle that was at the cost of almost $40,000.00.
Truck started to have brake pedal pulsing as you come to a stop. Problem lead to increased stopping distance at slow speed. Dealer knows of problem, but said my truck was not covered under recall.
Just did a 4 wheelbrakejob;pads and rotors for thefront, shoes for the rear!had to replace one rear wheel brake cylinder.started to bleed system, rear brakeline burst, was rusted real bad, replaced the affected line then frontline burst and that was rusted real bad also.in checking things over discovered they are all very rusty, afraid if i don't replace them all will have to shortly because they are all in same condition.note;had to replace transmission lines last year due to corrosion and rust!!!!
Abs light keeps coming on while driving
I was driving down a hill and applied the brakes and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor.there was no resistance to the brake pedal at all.the brakes functioned properly when i stopped at a stop sign, then when i was going down the hill the brake line broke.
Since roughly june of 2014 complete vehicle shakes violently when brakes are applied.i have had it looked at and have been told that it is the brake lines abs and needs replacement.i am a single father of two boys struggling financially and cannot afford new brake lines.i also have a current situation where the rear bumper is completely rotted through and as a result cannot pass state vehicle inspection i have searched for 2 months and cannot find a used rear bumper and manufacturer cost is $450-$500 which i cannot afford at the moment.i have always had a gmc pickup and am very dissatisfied with my present situation as i have only put 25,000 miles on the vehicle since purchased.
I had towed my boat on the interstate for 2 hours to a lake. Upon reaching the destination i was attempting to launch the boat at the boat ramp. While i was backing my boat trailer into the water i was using the brakes to ease down the ramp. Two family members were in the boat to back it off the trailer once in the water. The pedal suddenly went completely to the floor, i stepped on the emergency brake to stop the truck from rolling into the water. I got out and saw a large puddle of brake fluid under the truck on the drivers side just behind the front wheel area. I got in the truck to see if the brakes could be applied again but went completely to the floor. In order to get the truck, trailer and boat off the ramp i had to put the truck in drive, quickly release the emergency brake and apply the gas to prevent truck from rolling backwards. Upon looking under the hood i found the brake line was rusted in a clip and had ruptured where the left front wheel brake line was retained in a clip on the drivers side frame just next to the steering column. Since it was early enough i was able to get the truck towed to a local mechanic to get the ruptured line replaced. On 5/29/2014 while moving the truck in the driveway the brake line for the right front wheel has now ruptured, upon inspection the rupture is in the exact same location where the brake line is retained in the clip attached to the frame on the front drivers side next to the steering column. At this point i can only assume i will need to replace all the brake lines on the vehicle. If this had happened on the interstate or had to make an emergency stop during the initial incident i would have likely hit someone, lost my boat and injured or killed myself or family members. Brake lines should not rust like this in fl and the loss of one brake line should not eliminate your entire braking system to all four wheels.
My 2006 gmc has only 29,000 miles on it. I bought the truck in october 2009 with 16,000 miles. I keep the truck clean inside and out, top to bottom including under the vehicle. People comment to me all the time on how nice the truck looks. Brake line let go in yard. Pedal went to the floor, no brakes had to hit reverse then neutral and the emergency brake. I had just returned home from going up town. Thank god it happened where it did. I have been driving 40 years and only replaced one brake line in a 11 year old ford truck and that was just a section near a bend. This truck needs to have all the lines replaced. I just replaced all the transmission lines 4 months ago for $800.00. Same thing, all rusted. I lived in massachusetts my whole life and i do my best to keep the salt off the truck. Last time i ever seen rust issues this bad was in the 1970s when cars would start rusting out after 3 years because of the reused steel that came from overseas.
Approaching red light signal applied brakes.driver rear brake line ruptured due to rust through. Was able to safely stop vehicle as my speed was only about 20 mph.if this were at highway speeds it would have been extremely dangerous.fyi there is also extensive frame and body surface rust that the manufacturer refused to help with.this vehicle is mostly parked outside in the mid atlantic regions.gets very little use so low mileage.the rust is from a manufacturing issue not an environmental issue .
I wake up early on sunday, on 11/16/15 and took a company truck a 2006 gmc sierra 1500, to bring some cargo. On my way back home on 836 west expressway, i tookmy exit and when press the brake pedal to reduce speed, the pedal went to the floor of the car and the brake action was minimum to nothing. Another vehiclewas stop at the traffic light, and to avoid the obvious impact to the stopped car, i pumped the brakes several times and applied the parking brakes at approx. 30 mph. Seeing no way to avoid the collision, i pull the car to the side of the road and hit a concrete water drain, resulting in abruptly sopping of my car and my knee hit the lower dashboard. The guy of the other car went out and ask me, are you "drunk" "are you ok"i called aflatbed and bring my truck to my work place and then notice that a brake line was broke and most of the brake fluid spilled all over the front of the chassis, under the radiator. The brake line was incredible rusted, reason for the brake down,i had cars with a lot more years with no problem with brake lines. When i inspect the other brake lines deeply, noticed that an excessive corrosion was in all of them.gmc should do something about this, safety issue, is no reason for a 2006, only 8 years vehicle, present that level of corrosion on brake lines. "coke can thickness apparently" . Somebody will die or seriously injure, or will kill somebody, pedestrian or driver because the sudden brake failure in a case like this. I will bring the vehicle to a garage to replace the broken line and probably all of them.. Its ridiculous, and very dangerous that this things happens in a vehicle that age. I really appreciate to bring this case to the proper attention of the manufacturer in order to avoid more incidents like mine.i consider myself very lucky,.could not be writing this if this happens to me at a high speed. Thanks.
Pulling out of driveway and brakes gave out.. Stepped on the brakes and truck did not stop. A rusty brake line was leaking. It it had a split in it. Do to rust anand corrosion. This same thing has happened to my father's 03 silverado a few years back. Why has this been an issue with no recall. I had a kia spectra for 15 years and never had problems with rusty brake lines leaking... It's a truck they should be built to last.. Smh not happy..
Right front brake line ruptured when applying brakes in a parking lot.brake fluid started to leak out from the line that crosses from the driver's side to the passenger's side of the vehicle.it appears the rupture was due to corrosion of the original lines.
Brake line rust thrurear drivers sideand allare in poor shape.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the brakes began to pulsate upon engagement with a sudden activation of the anti-lock braking system (abs). As a result, there was a delayed response in braking to a stop. The failure recurred four times as the contact was driving at low speeds of 10 mph or less. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that both front abs speed sensors would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the malfunction. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.
While driving on two lane road, service brake system light flashed, vehicle was hard too slow down and stop.stopped vehicle and saw brake fluid was leaking fromleft front wheel brake lines.
Abs activation at low speeds resulting in increase stopping distance. It resulted almost striking a pedestrian in a crosswalk.this had previously been repaired at my own cost in 2011 and the problem has again returned.previously gmc sierras were recalled with the same problem. Recall number: 05v379000recall date: 08/29/2005component: service brakes, hydraulic:antilock problem summary: certain pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles may experience unwanted antilock brake system (abs) activation.consequence: this can cause increased stopping distances during low-speed brake applications, which could result in a crash.
I took our truck in for servicing at the o'neill gmc dealership in warminster, pa and was told that all of our brake lines needed to be replaced due to rusting.we purchased our vehicle new from o'neill and have continued to have it serviced there.the truck is treated with great respect and only has 40,000 miles on it.i contacted gmc due to the defective materials of the vehicle they sold us and they claim that this is normal.i now am strapped with a bill for $2700.00 to replace all four defective, rusting brake linestheir website says customer satisfaction guaranteed.i believe gmc should contribute $1700 towards the bill.i note that there are over ten pages of complaints on the internet regarding corrosion problems.please hold gmc accountable.this vehicle was purchased in good faith and they should admit responsibility for their inferior brake line materials.i am disappointed with gmc's excuses and nonsense.i told them they should pay $1700 out of the money they banked from the expired, extended warranty we purchased.this is a gmc issue; not a [xxx]issue.again, please hold them responsible for selling a defective truck.thank you, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, he attempted to engage the brakes but the pedal sunk to the floorboard and the brake warning lamp illuminated. The contact mentioned that after inspecting the vehicle he noticed that the brake lines were corroded and leaking brake fluid. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 61,000.
Even though my truck has always been garage kept and only has 30 thousand miles on it, my braking system went out while driving because my metal brake lines are rusted .
I own a 2006 gmc sierra 1500 pick-up with less than 75,000 miles on january 23, 2017i lost my braking capability due to the brake lines being completely corroded/rusted through causing the lost of brake fluid.luckily i lost my brakes in a parking lot and not on a busy main street or highway with the possibility of having an accident and seriously hurting myself or someone else.from what i have read gm has known about this problem for sometime and says it is not a safety concern.from first hand experience i believe this is a major safety concern.
When braking at the end of our driveway before proceeding into the road the brake pedal pulsates like abs is kicking in but the vehicle hesitates to stop. Also when turning to the left at low speed, can hear the abs system activating and get pulsing in the brakes as well.
Brake line failure, front left. Steel line had rusted next to a plastic clip that secured a wiring harness to the brake line. Brake fluid was spraying onto the side of the engine. Noticed the leak after returning home; had failed in stop-and-go traffic.
Hydraulic brake line rust out results in loss of stopping ability.the "blow out" occurred while the vehicle was stopped (i was very lucky!).upon inspection, several of the hydraulic lines were rusted badly.i felt that i had to replace them all (with stainless steel lines) to prevent another failure which could have dire consequences.the cost of the replacement stainless steel hydraulic lines was over $300.i performed the replacement of these lines myself.it cost me an additional $180 to get the complete abs braking system bled out.
Corroded brake lines.no incident as of yet.serious safety concern because of the quality of the brake lines.could lead to brake system failure resulting in uncontrollable vehicle.will need to be replaced/remediated at significant expense.
Anti-lock brakes activate for no reason at slow speeds
Brake line ruptured due to corrosion.i was leaving a hess station in massachusetts after filling up and when i stepped on the brake before pulling out into traffic the pedal depressed all the way to the floor.i immediately engaged the emergency brake and put the truck into reverse to park the vehicle and investigate the problem.i found a large brake fluid leak under the hood near the base of the steering column where the hard brake line clips to the truck frame.there was a significant amount of corrosion on the brake line.all four (4) brake lines are currently being replaced at the dealership where i bought the vehicle for a cost of ~$2400.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the abs engaged while braking at low speeds. As a result, the vehicle experienced an increased stopping distance. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. While driving approximately 8 mph and attempting to stop the vehicle, the anti-lock braking system seized without warning. The failure recurred several times. The contact called champion chevrolet of avon at 317-350-1023 (located at 183 s county rd 525, avon, in 46123) and a diagnostic test was recommended. The test was not performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
When braking at slow speeds the anti lock brakes appear to engage causing the pulsating brake in the pedal.the truck stopping distance is increased and the brakes do not fully engage causing the truck to bump the curb.the problem also may happen at higher speeds such as 25 mph and corrects when the pedal is depressed fully to the floor causing the brakes to fully engage (lock up).the problem is intermittent and does not happen every time.
Brake lines rusting out needed immediate replacement in virginia where little salt is used.

The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. While driving at a very slow speed, the brake pedal depressed and failed to operate. The contact was unaware if the emergency brake was depressed; however, there was no crash. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake line was rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.
1.rusted brake lines blowout.fortunately mine happened in a parking lot,not on the turnpike, and requiring an emergency stop.2.clutch master cylinder plastic mounting flange separates when clutch is depressed, disabeling std.transmission.on residential street.
While driving at low speeds, about 20 mph or lower, the brake pedal fades to the floor. There are no lights or codes and brake fluid at the proper level. This happens quite frequently and anywhere.

Abs system failure, clean sensors works for a while then warning lamp lite comes back on.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500.the contact was driving 10 mph when the abs system activated abnormally and caused an increase in stopping distance when attempting to brake. The abs warning light did not illuminate to warn the contact of the failure. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who advised that the brake drums would need replacing due to debris build up, which was causing the abs system to provide a faulty reading to activate. The manufacturer suggested taking the vehicle to a dealer for diagnostic testing.the contact believed that the vehicle was unsafe to drive.the failure mileage was 72,000.
2006 gmc sierra brake issues. Rotors have been turned 6 plus times in 90k miles. Brakes squeak, pulsate, and vibrate continuously.dealer has checked multiple times and advised that i just need my rotors turned.
While slowing to make a turn i applied the brakes and had a sudden and complete loss of brakes.had i not been on a suburban road or in traffic or a high speed highway the situation could have been catastrophic and resulted in a crash.i was near my repairinggarage and managed to get the vehicle there by using the emergency brake and low speed.it was less than a mile.i had this repaired at a cost of $849.27.just yesterday (6-30-2014)i was parked on a hill and as i released the parking brake my foot suddenly went to the floor and i experienced a second loss of brakes due to failure of the remaining two brake lines. I was on a hill and had only a tiny amount of braking power.the vehicle is at the garage and the cost of this repair has yet to be determined.they will replace the remaining two brake lines. I recently had to replace the transmission cooling lines which ruptured and are located in a nearby location on the vehicle.all are exposed and un-shielded. The manufacturer advertises that the vehicle is "professional grade" and "heavy duty" but i find both these claims to be great exaggerations.these situations have scared me and i desire to acquire a different vehicle as soon as i am able.unfortunately, this will not be soon.i will have to drive with the fear that another potentially catastrophic problem could develop at any moment. Fortunately, neither of these incidents were panic stops.
My 2006 gmc sierra 1500 with 25000 miles on it had both front wheel abs sensors failed. Causing engaging of the anti lockbrakes, when brakes is depressed when moving at less than 10 mph.
At low speed the abs activates causing extended travel when stopping, which turns out to be very scary for driver and pedestrians in cross walks.
The contact owns a 2006 general motor company sierra 1500. The contact discovered the brake line and rear bumper was corroded. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 74,000 and the current mileage was 75,000.
2006 gmc 1500 sierra with 16,734 miles, the abs system engages around 5 mph and when the truck will actually stop is any one's guess. Very dangerous in parking lots, and around pedestrians as well as normal driving. I see there are thousands of similar complaints on the web. Please put my tax dollars to work and do something. Thank you.
At 5 mile per hour abs comes on no matter what road condition is..a recall with the same problem has been issued for years prior.
Dt*: while driving various speeds going down hill and appliying the brakes the vehicel rattled and shook.the vehicle was driven to the dealer, who determined this was a characteristic of the vehicle. Updated 1/31/2007 -
Seats popping noise when weight shifts (start, stop, etc.)first attempt was to replace the seat back.
Front abs speed sensors failed at 26,000 miles. The manufacture said this was due to normal wear and tear, this model year should have 60,000 miles on it. They have reimbursed some owners for this problem and refuse to pay others. No one at gm could explain why both sensors went out at the time.
2006 gmc sierra 1500.front brakes locked up at 17,000 miles.needed to be replaced as they were rusted out.front wheel assembly rusted out at 19600 miles.needed to be replaced as front wheels could come off the vehicle while driving.rear brakes locked up at 19000 miles, needed to be cleaned and lubricated.this vehicle became unsafe to drive after only 17000 miles!total cost (warranty expired) $1500.
The abs activates when it isn't supposed to.backing out of my driveway the brake drops, grunts, and takes far too long to stop.also when turning this occurs.gmc had a recall for the exact same thing for the model years 1999-2002 starting in 2005.they say it's from normal wear and tear, but not one other truck or suv owner i've ever known has had a similar problem, with a different company.they even offered to pay for part of it, citing the recall accidentally.this is a very dangerous defect, and something needs to be done about it.we don't need to wait until somebody dies.earlier today while driving it took nearly 5 seconds to stop coming up to a railroad crossing.if i hadn't known about the defect, i may not have been able to stop.did i mention the vehicle has less than 30,000 miles in its 5 years of operation?companies shouldn't be allowed to wait 6 years to initiate recalls.they obviously know it's a problem.thanks.
Purchased 2006 gmc sierra 1500 new in april 2006 with 208 msl showing on odometer.at 10,000 miles started getting vibration when applying brakes. Took vehicle into dealer rotors were turned, vibration gone.at about 18,000 miles vibration returned. Took vehicle back to dealer, rotors turned again and tires balanced and rotated.again smooth braking.at 32,000 mls vibration returned again.took back to dealer, this time they replaced front brake rotors with new new ones.brakes smooth again. I now have 44.500 miles and the vibration is back again as bad as ever. Vehicle is now out of warranty. Dealer will not do anything unless i pay.these are highway miles. I am not riding the brakes getting them hot.$30,000 for a pick up truck and gm can"t or won"t fix the problem. I will never by another gm product!!!
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500.the contact stated that the master cylinder failed on his vehicle.while driving at an unknown speed, the brake pedal extended to the floor and the vehicle failed to stop.the contact rear ended another vehicle.there were no injuries.the front end, hood, and grill were damaged.the vehicle was towed from the scene and returned to the shop it was repaired at three months prior to the crash.the technician stated that the master cylinder was the cause of the failure.the contact has called different gmc dealers and repair shops to purchase a master cylinder, but there are none in stock.it would take a week for the part to arrive so that the repair can be completed.the failure mileage was 50,000.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that when depressing the brake pedal, he would experience a vibrating or popping feeling. The vehicle was taken and inspected by an independent mechanic, who stated that the anti-lock braking system failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. Updated 8/30/11 updated 09/28/11
Improper abs activation a low speed.occurs in the last few mph of deceleration at a stop sign or red light.also occurs when coming to a stop during parking, worse when turning.pavement is dry.no abs activation at speeds above 5 mph.pedal vibrates lightly and becomes softer until complete stop is attained.very concerned that braking distance is compromised and might impact vehicle in front or stop within intersection.
Down hill at 80mph brakes on my 2006 gmc 1500 caused my steering wheel to shake so hard my heart was in my pants. 18k miles on my truck and had to have my rotors turned and shoes adjusted in rear drums. Sign of global market. Low bidder gets the job to mfg all parts and you guys at nhtsa get a pay xtwice a month.nhtsa has two other stories re bad brakes on 2006 gmc 1500. No action until someone get hurt is the word of the day. Ps: i don't drive at 80mph but get fast on ca route 15 or get run over by car/big rigs so you should at all times have perfect brakes and worry about the other small stuff.pls call gm and tell them my life is in their hands and in the coming years no more gm products for me if they can't mfg a brake system that can go more then 18k. Navy aircraft i landed had brake rotors that would turn red from heat but did not need a change out after 200 landings. X it out nhtsa the next person you save maybe your son or his friend.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. While driving approximately 50 mph, the contact engaged the brakes and the anti-lock brake system activated without intent. The contact planned to take the vehicle to a dealer for diagnosis and repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
Poor brake system performance-have had rotors & drums resurfaced starting at 24,500 miles & at 33,000 miles . Now at ~36,000 miles the rotors & drums need to be replaced!this is my every day vehicle & is not a work truck.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. The contact statedwhen braking or driving at relatively low speeds of at least 5 mph, the anti-lock brakes would engage and the contact would have to abrupt braking pressure to stop the vehicle. The dealer advised the vehicle was not under recall and did not provide any further assistance. The failure and current mileages were 28,663.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500.the contact purchased the vehicle with an odometer reading of 257 miles.he has experienced brake rotor failure for the second time.the cause of failure was diagnosed as the groves needing to be repaired or replaced.the rotors were making a grinding noise and the dealer would not repair the vehicle for free.the dealer stated that there are no failures with the brakes.the groves are getting deeper and deeper, but the dealer claimed that this is not a safety issue because nothing is wrong with the brakes.he has called the manufacturer, but no one is investigating the failure.the vin was unknown.the current mileage is 11,450 and failure mileage was 9,000.

Brakes making noise at rear of vehicle they howled, i have the brakes resufaced at 12,000 and again at 24000 and they still make noise. The drivers seat pops and crackes and makes a metal to metal noise it has been repaired countless times and it still makes a obsene noise.
I was driving around a curve (50mph)and steering failed.the steering wheel turned completely around but wheels did not respond.i had a strong odor of burning power steering fluid just prior to malfunction.
The contact owned a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. While the contact's son was driving 30 mph, the power steering seized and the vehicle drifted and crashed into the guardrail of a bridge. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was totaled. A police report was filed. The driver was injured, but did not require medical attention. The vehicle was towed to a wrecking yard. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 154,000.
Clunking sound from steering shaft in column, clunking bumping looseness in steering hydraulic slave cylinder at all speeds. This seems to cause the truck to wander at highway speed, symptoms are worse when high winds are encountered.
2006 gmc sierra 1500 pickup truck. Front wheel bearing assembly on both driver and passenger side failure. The wheel bearing hub assembly failure causes the vehicle to loose driving ability while driving. The wheels will start shaking causing operating the vehicle impossible. Gmc has a problem with front wheel bearing assemblies on their pickup trucks. Replaced hub assembly with new parts by a gm certified mechanic. Gm mechanic stated that they have replaced many gmc and chevy hub assemblies on trucks due to part failure.
Intermediate steering shaft.
The vehicle was parked and not running when both driver and passenger airbags deployed. The steering wheel is torn apart. The handle on the dash board, passenger side, is bent and the vent on passenger side is cracked.
Dt*:the contact stated before pulling a newly purchased vehicle off the dealer's lot, a vibration was noticed.the dealer was made aware of the observation and theystated that the vibration was coming from the tire due to sitting for a long period of time in the lot.the vehicle has consistently vibrated on normal road conditions traveling at speeds of 65 mph.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for further inspection.the dealer determined that the vibrations were coming from the frame of the vehicle.

I had a crack in the windshield and when they replaced it the technician said it was so rusted from the inside that if anything happened again they would not replace it he had to really do some work arounds he said to even replace this one. That makes me feel that this is a real safety issue if we were to get in a serious accident. There is no rust on the outside around the windshield at all. So i was very surprised when the technician told me that.
Excessive rust that is rotting away the frame of my 2006 gmc sierra. Chunks of rusted metal are falling off on my garage floor and gmc says this is normal corrosion not covered. So much for well made american vehicles.
Vehicle shakesviolently enough to jar your internal equipment even if you go over the smallest bump or expansion joint in the road . Returned to dealer 5 times for same complaint dealer saidthere is no fix. Even though we informed him that truck was uncontrollable on wet pavement and made you motion sick.dealers service manager was convinced to ridein the truck and stated " this ride is unacceptable".
I was driving down the road going 35 miles an hour and noticed a loud grinding noise then my abs light came on.my steering was much less responsive.i hit a bump in the road and my truck ran into a fence. I had to change the wheel bearings to correct the problem.
Dt*: while driving various speeds going down hill and appliying the brakes the vehicel rattled and shook.the vehicle was driven to the dealer, who determined this was a characteristic of the vehicle. Updated 1/31/2007 -
Driving interstate 95 right front wheel bearing failure.
My son was driving his 2006 gmc sierra pickup, when the abs warning light illuminated, followed by the truck wanting to steer to the right. He investigated and found that the right front wheel was tilted inboard and decided to have the truck towed home. Today we removed the wheel, and found a total failure of the wheel hub assembly. This is a sealed unit that contains the wheel bearings, and has the wheel studs mounted to it also. Apparently this is not an item that can be serviced in the field, such as repacking of the bearings. Both wheel bearings were completely destroyed, and the only thing holding the wheel on was the brake caliper. We installed a new hub assembly and brake disc to correct the problem. Old parts are available.
Driving interstate 95 left front wheel bearing failure causing loud noise and steering shake.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500. When the brake pedal was depressed at various speeds, the vehicle vibrated without warning. While the vehicle was being serviced for nhtsa campaign number: 06e050000 (service brakes, air), the passenger side hub fractured and was unable to be repaired. The contact stated that the front driver side hub assembly was deemed after market and the repair was denied. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 322,566.
Suspension made a 'thunking' noise while driving over bumps. I took it into the dealer and was told the r. Rear tensioner leaf spring worn or was worn and needed replacement.i never got a straight answer as to why, bad metal or what? i've never towed anything and have never had any heavy loads in the bed causing over compression of the leaf springs.truck has always seemed to lean to one side and looks lower than factory height.dealer fixed under warranty. It now seems to be making a similar noise but from the front suspension area while driving over speed bumps and into driveways.i have to verify this and get it back into the dealership for more work...and try to get answers.
Vehicle had banging underneath the driver's feet while going over the slightest bump.also very loose front end sway.took to the dealer and the replaced the left front torsion bar mount, correcting problem.made a big difference in ride performance.
Dt*:the contact stated while driving 55 mph on the highway, the left front wheel wobbled from side to side without warning.the contact managed to pull the vehicle over without incident.the vehicle was towed to the dealer who determined the left front wheel bearings were loose and needed to be replaced.after new wheel bearings were installed, the problem was corrected.the manufacturer was alerted.

The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra. While driving approximately 45 mph, the contact noticed a burning odor. She then noticed that the blower motor on the wiring harness melted, causing the vehicle to smoke. The contact called the dealer who offered no assistance. The contact did not inform the manufacture. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was approximately 68,000. The failure mileage was approximately 67,800. The vin was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2006 gmc sierra 1500.while driving approximately 45 mph on normal road conditions, the contact heard an excessively loud grinding noise coming from the outside of the vehicle.the noise was intermittent.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they replaced the front wheel bearings and hubs under warranty.the vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer on two separate occasions for identical failures, but there were no resolutions.the technician stated that the loud noise was normal.the contact was unaware if his vin was included in nhtsa campaign id number 07e106000 (wheels:cap/cover/hub).currently, the vehicle is at the dealer for repair.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was unavailable and the current mileage was 67,000.
Thanks.
Purchased a new gmc truck valued at $40,000 at 38,000 miles the drivers side front wheel bearing failed and at 48,000 miles passenger side front wheel bearing failed. Seems to be that defective parts are being installed on trucks at assembly. When passenger side failed also ruined brake rotor. After researching on the internet it seems to be a ongoing problem with these gm trucks.
My passenger side wheel broke and went sideways when i turn off the highway in montzuma only going about 30mph
